Hello, great-grandfather Vasily!
We are again on the eve of the Victory Day. And I want to ask your forgiveness. Forgive us for failing, forgetting about your exploits and war heroes. In the eternal disputes we have lost the main thing – our history. After all, you defended Moscow, froze in the Belarusian swamps, liberated Prague. And now they say that it was in vain. That your victory was an occupation, that Leningrad could have been surrendered, that I should pity the Nazis, and that the Victory Parade is a victory psychosis.
Can I do that?
Of course not!
Hello, Grandpa Miron!
They told me how you were chasing the Banderovites through the forests of Ukraine without thinking about sleep or warmth. Liberating and slowly advancing. Seeing villages burned down by them and children killed. You got rid of these scum, not sparing your life. And now their descendants say they were heroes. And I am now supposed to say: “Glory to the heroes” and disown you, the Soviet soldier.
They say they won the war, but as before they are fighting children and old people, destroying towns and villages, leaving behind scorched earth and ash on their boots. Can it be so, if only 77 years have passed since the Victory? It can. I’m sorry we couldn’t destroy them all.
Hello, great-grandmother Elsa.
Sorry for the yellow star being in vogue again, only this time for the Russians. Now they say that a Russian is not a liberator, but a subhuman. How familiar. They used to say the same thing about you during the pogroms in Lviv and Kiev. Who gave them the right to decide who is worthy to be called a human and who is not? We did. By our indifference to our history.
Hello, Russian soldier!
Forgive us for not being able to keep our world from war. We calmed down and thought that a peaceful life was forever, and that freedom is granted without a fight. It turned out that it wasn’t. Fascism is all around us. It is once again marching across our land, flashing its flags and chevrons of Azov, Aydar and the Right Sector. It is all around us. It is already here. And that is why you are again back in line, as you were in that terrible year of 41. You are a Chechen, a Bashkir, an Ossetian, an Abkhaz, an Ukrainian, a Buryat or a Belarusian. You are a Russian soldier, whoever you are! You came to defend those who are weak and helpless. You have come to win. Again and again. As once in the trenches of Stalingrad, so now in the steppes of Donbass.
This war will be as hard as it was then. Not everyone will be able to live to this victory, but fascism will be destroyed and will never raise its head again. I believe that victory will come. The rebuilt cities of Ukraine and Donbass will celebrate May 9. Kyiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Odessa, Sloviansk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and other cities will have a parade, where, as many years ago, the Victory Banner will be carried. And the flags of that Nazi Ukraine will be thrown to the monuments of heroes. And we will wait for that victory.
The Ukronazis place a twelve (12!) year old girl on their “black list”
Good article. Brings to light in a moving way the conditions in Donbass.
Glory to Russia.
This is the most beautiful written piece on this war, in fact it transcends all wars, that I have read. This deserves to be widely published and read. Bravo Faina and thank you.
I double the thought. A really mature set of letters I never guessed were written by one who was 12 years old. Bravo!
Dear Faina
It is so good to know you are sound and safe. I have thought of you many times and hoped for the best. I am really glad.
It is amazing to watch children grow. You are amazing! How much mature your writing has become. And how much greater your soul is reflected within. Blessings to you and your family!
It is heartwarming to hear from the young author. But I wonder why she uses the Ukrainian for Kiev, Lugansk and Kharkov.
What did she mean by Kiev will “celebrate may 9” ? Russia doesn’t actually intend to take the city right?
Is it not a translation?
ok, but translated by whom? And how are the city names spelled in her original, which I’m assuming she wrote in Russian. I’m just curious, that’s all. As I say it’s good to hear her young voice. It is as clear as a bell.
May 9th 1945 was the end of “The Great Patriotic War”.
In the west that is called WW2.
The then USSR overcame the existential threat posed by the fascist Axis Alliance.
The modern Russian federation is now threatened again by the fascist zeal for war.
What a truly beautiful and eloquent, sane and HUMAN young woman!
God bless.
Thank you for that!
Facism is alive in the form of the Nazi American Treaty Organization. This above all else must be destroyed, and its members denazified.
This was beautiful, and inspiring. We are nothing without our history. Thank you and bless you Faina.
Historically, the most terrible thing that has happened to Ukraine has resulted not from disobedience, but from obedience to their history of shame –they were guards at the ovens, they were executors at Babi Yar, they, they were executions of Soviet soldiers and these who did this are now heroes in Canad, in the USA ,and in Germany but in reality they were nothing more than Little Eichmann’s. .
This brought me to tears. Russia is the salvation of Western culture!
Dear Faina,
I read this to my wife and her eyes welled up with tears. This was beautiful and heart breaking. I too was moved and felt the love pour out of me to you. My wife and I are both in old age, living on borrowed time looking for evidence of sanity, of essential humanity in the younger generations. Your writing shines like a light house warning us of rocky and dangerous shoals. It is mature beyond your years. It is hope beyond hopelessness. May you be protected and nurtured now and forever.
Thank you Faina Savenkova

“Again and again. As once in the trenches of Stalingrad, so now in the steppes of Donbass.”
The Battle of Stalingrad was the deadliest battle to take place during the Second World War with an estimated 2 million total casualties – regarded as the turning point in the war.
A valuable historical study.
Ukraine is a hate group masquerading as a country
I wrote 15 years ago, that “Ukraine is not a nation. Ukraine is a racist theory about the inferiority of the Russian people.” By paraphrasing John McCain the idea can be expressed in even fewer words.
Komsomolkaya Pravda has an article today, that explains why.
Also read my previous comment on the Azov Battalion and their links to Nazi accelerationism.
Emotion is effective, but “emotion recollected in tranquility,” to use an old bard’s prescription, has a longer shelf life and can be achieved with a little editing.
Was there a city called “Leningrad” in Faina’s great-grandfather’s day, Vasily? And when and why did great-grandmother Elsa have to wear the yellow star? In the Russian empire? In the Soviet Union?
The Belarusians can consider themselves Russians as do many Ukrainians. But would “a Chechen, a Bashkir, an Ossetian, an Abkhaz, a Buryat” etc ” really consider himself a Russian? Doubtful. A citizen of the Russian Federation, yes. Americans can say that they are all “Americans” because that is not an ethnicity, but that’s not the case with “Russian.”
And if indeed Ukrainians are Russian what’s with the discordant spellings of “Lviv,” and “Kharkiv”? Some editing would not take away the emotional impact.
“Lviv,” and “Kharkiv” are the result of the built-in Nazificator in Google Translate. It translates Russian place names in Russian text into their Ukronazi equivalents. This is forced politization of speech, enforced by Big Tech on behalf of the Empire of Lies.
Take this, Google:
Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov Lvov
Kharkov Kharkov Kharkov Kharkov Kharkov Kharkov Khrakov
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I will, however, grant you this, Google: ‘elensky
“We, the multi-ethnic nation of the Russian Federation, united by a common destiny on our land…” These are the first words of our basic law, the Russian Constitution. Each word has a deep meaning and enormous significance.”
http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/68016
There certainly was a city called Leningrad in 12 year old Faina’s ( jewish name) great-grandfather’s days, there were yellow stars in the occupied by the Thid Reich territories of SSSR.
Ethnical Russians – Русские ( Russkie) + non- ethnical Russians – Россияне (Rossiiane) = all Russians = Russian nation . Simple.
@ ariadna
“But would “a Chechen, a Bashkir, an Ossetian, an Abkhaz, a Buryat” etc ” really consider himself a Russian? Doubtful.”
I think I’m going to cross swords with you on that one. Why not?
As we discussed the other day on another thread about the “Russian World”, that notion encompasses much more than genetics or the accident of a birthplace. Just think of a “non-Russian” child early adopted by Russian parents and brought up in the same household with brothers and sisters. Is that “one” not Russian? By the same token, is a natural born and raised Russian traitor (say a Jewish oligarch) “Russian”? There are gradients of “Russianess” and the same applies to the concept of “European”.
Since you mentioned the Chechens, at least those fighting for Russia would justifiably feel insulted if described “non-Russian”. By the way, public opinion polls taken for many years now in Russia reveal that a Georgian has been consistently titled one of the greatest Russians of all time, usually first, second or third. No need to mention his nom de guerre.
I agree with you that the so called “Americans” are non-entities, the concept not even true other than a geographical designation which, in my lexicon means an adjective applicable to anything related to the continent from Kaffeklubben Island and Aguila Island.
Not long ago I met one of those “Americans” who told of an incident when, as a member of a student group, went to England in early 1950s. When they landed in London the immigration chap compared his arrival card with his passport and asked: “How come you wrote Portuguese as your nationality and your passport shows you are a citizen of the US?” He and his mates on board before landing discussed what that “nationality” thing meant and they all agreed it meant from which country their parents, grandparents, etc. came from; so they wrote Irish, German, English, Italian and so on.
Dear Faina,
I was overwhelmed by the poetic/dramatic power of your letters and had to stop after a few lines to collect myself from being swamped by a torrent of tears. I don’t think I have read so profound and moving piece of writing for many years, if ever.
Only a great heart and immeasurable suffering could inspire the tragic beauty of your epistle. It must be the expression of the Russian soul I was told about when, yet a child, I read мать.
I hope all Russian media will publish or read your words.
Thank you.
I’m always glad to hear Faina speak the truths she does, a lovely young angel who inspires all and everyone who believe in the righteousness of living honorably.
Beautiful!
God bless you!
Thank you Faina, your soul is both intense and beautiful -you bring light to this world.
This girl is a molodiets, as simple as that. May you be blessed.
Your pain is understandable by all rational people, who believe in decency. We pray for the success of your country in this proxy war waged by those who have evil eye on what is rightfully yours; for on your country’s success depends the future of the mankind.
Thank you for the article, I am Czech, one of many who do not agree with the current political events. My grandfather died near Stalingrad where he fought in the German army. He lived in the Czech Republic, was of German nationality as well as his grandmother, taken to war, he could choose to be taken away or shot, so my grandmother, his wife, told me, they had one baby boy together, which was my dad and he was five years old when he became an orphan, my grandmother lived without a husband and husband until her death in the Czech city from where Hitler led her husband to war.
Thank you all for your very nice, touching contributions and Glory to Russia. Thank God you are so I can read you.
I wish us, all the people on Earth, the armies and the soldiers peace.

I watched a series on TV called “The War in Numbers”. According to this series there were 30,000 German conscientious objectors (of any religion), 10,000 were executed and 20,000 were sent to concentration camps.
Wonderful to hear from Faina again. Keep hope and courage flowing.
Marvelous of tenderness and truth. Purity because of your child’s soul, wisdom because of your pain. Thank you
Greetings from Tehran-Iran. Excellent piece, thank you. The USSR, achieved well over %90 of the job of defeating the western-led fascism during the second world war and that historical fact should never be forgotten by all the people in this world. Washington/London are upset because no matter how much propaganda they spew, they could never twist the truth. Only Russia and her allies have the right to take the most credit for the WWII Victory. The current situation in which a combination of western – zio Ukrainian – Bandaristas – Hollywood thugs wanting to defeat/disintegrate first the Russian Federation then China/Iran … is a continuation of the WWII is just another pipe dream that has to be dealt with.
A minor quibble with the fine piece. The yellow star has been replaced by a red star. After all, Russia is communist, don’t you know, and there are no Nazis in Ukraine. How could there be with Elenskyy in charge!
There has been a significant change today in NATO air traffic in Poland / Romania. The loitering KC-10 (prefix NCH) / KC-135 (prefix LAGR) tankers have gone, no survelliance drones (prefix FORTE and others) , no Ukraine cargo flights (prefix MEM) from Burgas to Rzeszow, no massed flights to Rzeszow. All there is is a group of C130 flights (prefix HKY) from Germany and Turkey converging on Romania. There are three C130H and one C130J airborne. Curious.
So has the weapons buildup for Ukraine been completed or halted with a new focus on sending ‘advisors’ to Romania for a push against the PMR?
what is PMR?
Transnistria. Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic.
@ Arfur Mo
Thank you for your “intelligence” regarding the flight movements. Very interesting – suspect the Russian command might extend the no-fly zone… Things appear to hotting up!
Большое спасибо тебе, милая!
At this point I still sense that Russia is failing to prevent NATO from expanding its influence. It is rather clear that Finland and Moldova are de facto NATO assets and are about to seek de jure NATO status. More countries are following Ukraine’s lead in censoring Russia. Moldova is already acting like Ukraine in this regard. After Finland Sweden will join NATO. A Polish-Romanian-Moldovan-Ukrainian front is being deployed against Russian forces in Transnistria, to be furnished by Anglo-American, French, and Scandinavian assistance. Without full territorial control of the littoral zone between Donbas and Transnistria, Russia faces a true quagmire in Ukraine, given that its limited intervention does not deter but rather encourages NATO’s consolidation and expansion.
NATO also gifted the Taliban with $7 billion worth of weaponry, including more than 300,000 arms and nearly ten thousand non- precision airborne weapons. All these weapons will be used to aid Ukrainian and other proxies via third parties as well as open new fronts against Russia, thereby helping the West exhaust Russia on all sides. Ukraine is already purchasing abandoned NATO weaponry from Afghanistan. Also, Turkey, which supports the Taliban and Pakistan, is still selling drones to Ukraine, despite “working” with Russia. Russia’s non-ideological “multipolar” strategy shows its limitations. Russia needs an Imperial ideology and clear boundaries in order to successfully defend its interests, and needs to diversify its economy in order to attract potential partners.
Currently Russia’s isolation from advanced nations such as Germany, low birth rate, and dependence on resource extraction render it vulnerable to the West and economically unattractive as a suitor, low tax rates notwithstanding. Given all this, Russia’s failure to intervene decisively in Ukraine in 2014, thereby preventing a prolonged conflict, has proven to be extremely costly, if not fatal. Under current parameters Russia cannot prevail in a long war with the West.
Good news! Another failed attempt by the Kiev regime to spread the war.
“Moldova turns down Kiev’s suggestions on Transnistria
Chisinau has rejected Ukraine’s offer to ‘capture’ the breakaway region”

Russia eternal and historic mission is to defeat nazism and its variants. Yesterday Russia, as the Soviet Union, defeated the third reich and today Russia as Russia, without much help from other anti-nazi, anti-fascism countries help, will defeat the bandera version of nazism in Ukraine and beyond.
To Russia and Russians, thank you. We will never forget your sacrifices to achieve the coming victory.
There are a few nations you cannot break them, North Korea, Vietnam, China, the Taliban, Russia, the Chechens.
You forgot to mention Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Iran. And I would add the Sentinelese…perhaps the most ferociously unbreakable people of them all.
Young lady, follow your talents. I was very impressed with the vivid metaphorical content of your writing. I pegged you/her @ 16 yrs old from the pic, as a mature voice from the writing, and would have to consider her quite gifted and with a bright studious mind @ only 12 yrs. Let the arts flourish, which help to weave us together in mind and emotions, and keep up and pursue the good work.
What a brilliant short article from Faina Savenkova, it goes right to the hearth. Articles like this is part of the reason I enjoy reading The Saker, one of the great, great sites, one of also has to mention Moon of Alabama, if it was not for those places I would go insane or have to learn to read and write Russian. Most of the western news sites are just propaganda outlets, Goebbels would be proud of western mainstream media, it is pure crap. Unadulterated, undiluted and smelly crap.
Swedish and Danish press is just as useless, there is no opposition anymore, not since Land & Folk gave up, mainly due to the prosperity we enjoy, Nobody wants to identify themselves as workers, although most of us are labor slaves.
You are still a labor slave even if you own a house, a new car ect. It does not change an ounce.
People do not want to join unions anymore, they do not participate in way to bring our societies on.
I went to my first demonstation in Copenhagen about 1970, I was a communist then, much to my parents horror, hehe!
Later I turned socialist and are still a socialist, have worked as a Volunteer 4,5 years in Africa, paying my dues, but it really was the greatest adventure.
Now pension is just around the corner and going back to Denmark, have done good via sale of my house.
I am sorry to say I did not manage to uphold all my aspirations of youth.
Would be great if the UKN rebels were defeated on 2nd May like in 1945
Beautiful letters
There are also plenty of videos showing Ukrainian villagers along the roadside giving flowers and home cooked food the Russian, DPR, and LPR liberators
God bless you, Dear Faina, for your talent and humanity. I am looking forward to watching you grow up into a shining beacon of hope not only for your country but for the entire world.
Faina! So glad to hear from you.
Don’t let the fascists grind you down.
Our cause is just, Victory shall be ours!
