That really makes me happy: Slobodan Despot, a Swiss journalist and publisher, made a first time ever interview with me in French. Though I have now been away from Europe for 14 years, it felt good speaking in French again. And I have to say that I had a great time talking to Slobodan Despot and we hope to repeat that conversation on a regular basis in the future.
I hope that you enjoy the result as much as I enjoyed participating in this.
Hugs and cheers,
The Saker

I take no political position before I go to the pub (and Yes we have been to Cuba – for 2 weeks about 16 years ago)

The link in my post doesn’t work..well it did before I went to the pub…

Thanks Saker, I am listening to the interview. Your French is excellent. The blog had great successes after Maidan, as you say. Since then we have lost some longtime contributors and I hope you rehabilitate them. I also hope we put the focus back on Donbass. Thanks for writing about Crimea.
As you say, you empower people. You don’t know how much your blog has meant for me. It has made it possible for me to take the information war to Europe (not in French). That would not have been possible without you and the contributors. There are several Saker sites, but you have influenced the net to an extent that can’t be measured.
I also wonder about Trump. He has yet to show us what he is going to do.
Saker, your French is excellent, je suis vraiment impressionné!
You are right, Nussiminen. The Saker flies higher and sees more as the West implodes. I know a better word than “salauds”, but I keep it to myself.
The Wests war against the opposition will go nowhere. I know a country in Europe, a country I think you also know, where the leaders are in panic because of the opposition on social media. This country has the most demented leaders in all of Europe, as I see it. Now I let everybody guess.
In this information war we have had some casualties. They should be honoured, as Motorola recently was honoured in Donbass.
Bien entendu, j’aurais pu écrire “cradingues”, mdr…
“This country has the most demented leaders in all of Europe, as I see it. Now I let everybody guess.”
Well, that’s impressive indeed, given such fierce “competition”, but Germany seems most likely here since you also mentioned the strong opposition prevalent on social media. Personally, I would pick the entire lot of today’s Eastern European “leaders” — save Hungary’s Viktor Orban — for the nomination.
Please repeat on a regular basis, by all means. — Oui, récidivez!
Meilleurs vœux de succès sans fin!
Yours always,
LR
Well, I have no idea what is said, but since it is French, I can only say.
Vote Marine Le Pen.
Wow, Slobodan Despot I respect a lot. Very smart and honest man.
He’s a borderline possible guest in mainstream media – at least he was when Taddei’s talk show was still on air.
Your french is perfect. Where did you learn to speak it so well ?

My Mum was brought up as a Peasant Girl in Northern France immediately after World War 1. She was born in London. Her Dad was an Officer and a Gentleman. He was born in Scotland. He survived 4 years of herding these kids to their almost certain deaths in the trenches of the Somme.
He was a musican – he used to Teach Music before war broke out…
He knew he was going to die..and he wrote the notes on a scrap of paper – whilst the bombs wer coming in…he hummed them…
And My family love my Mum – and my niece did this research of our family and Grannie – and Her Great Grandfather (My Grandad)
And she played his love song to his daughter (my mum) on her 80th Birthday.
He survived…well then died of appendicitus 4 years after the war leaving my Mum a Peasant Girl in France about 10 years old…even her Dad was now dead.
My Mum survived…otherwise I wouldn’t be here.
She barely taught me a word of French – but she could speak it like a local when in France.
Tony
Merci.
Chapeau bas!
A bon entendeur, salut !
@peut-on évoquer l’hypothèse d’un Trump “repli stratégique” ?
It was already done in another post: “What are the Ukronazis up to in Crimea?”
See F. William Engdahl’s recent article “The Dangerous Deception Called The Trump Presidency” (@http://journal-neo.org/2016/11/25/the-dangerous-deception-called-the-trump-presidency/)
Thank you Saker for this amazing interview. I must also compliment the interviewer who was “top drawer” , to use “un anglecisme ringard”. I plan to listen to it again because of the richness of the exchange of ideas.
At the end you were discussing “la russophobie” and you both adduced various historical factors that contribute to this, but I couldn’t help thinking of another obvious factor which is the frustration of the empire elites not to have access to all the natural resources of Russia, (à accaperer leur resources), which I imagine drives them mad. This “resource envy” seems to me to be primary and “la haine” which accompanies it almost seems forced due to the necessity of inciting war envy in their underlying populations in order to attain this objective. In other words, this hate is phoney. It reminds of the opposite emotion, the “love” that certain Israeli settlers feel for “their” land after they have driven away the rightful owners.
You are correct Saker derives from the Arabic Saqr: صقر, = Falcon.
