14 Leopard 2s, and 88 Leopard 1s. 1488. What a coincidence. An explanation of the number is even available on wikipedia. Norway is sending 8 Leopard 1s btw.
Understandably Ms. Zakharova is pissed. The big thing is the tidal shift in German policy, and that is indeed disgusting. But as to the tanks; the tanks I believe will prove to be not as big deal as Ms. Zakharova is making them out to be especially when the first few are taken out by some medicore flame throwers or similar pieces of primitive anti-tank gear. The symbolism the tanks represent will quickly shift.

you are well spoken and just
my heart is broken for all people who died in the wars, i cry when i see videos of death destruction
the evil resides in governments

make them remember that they were born as humans, not the creatures that they have become
a big challenge for you to accomplish, you will.
your mother has raised you to become compassionate and loving, just and honest
i have listened to your interviews speeches
you are a goddess Artemis, bring justice to humanity
the majority is with you

Germany deciding to deliver 88 tanks to nazis, they’ve crossed not one but ten red lines and it seems now, the war will possibly spread beyond Ukraine’s borders. Tone of Maria voice tells us what is coming our way. Everyone was buying time… Godspeed Brothers!
Troops bear ‘Moor Killer’ badges
Giles Tremlett in Madrid
Thu 24 Jul 2003 21.19 EDT
A row broke out in Spain yesterday after the country sent its first troops to patrol Iraq wearing on their shoulders the Cross of St James of Compostela – popularly known in Spain as “the Moor Killer”.
Patches bearing the cross, the symbol of a saint who allegedly guided the medieval Christian re conquista of Spain from the Muslims, are to be worn by a 2,000-strong Spanish brigade in central Iraq, who will patrol the sacred Shia city of Najaf.
While newspapers and radio stations reacted with astonishment at the choice of symbol, politicians avoided the argument.
“If we start debating this subject the risks surrounding the mission will only be increased,” said a spokesman from the opposition Socialist party, Jesus Caldera.
Spaniards, unaccustomed to seeing their soldiers take part in what many see as an army of occupation, already view the Iraq mission with concern.
The deaths of more than 40 US and British soldiers since the Iraq war was officially declared over has increased worries about the prime minister Jose Maria Aznar’s willingness to help the countries whose troops ousted Saddam Hussein.
“To put the Cross of St James of Compostela on the uniforms of Spanish soldiers supposes an absolute ignorance of the society in which they will have to carry out their mission,” fumed El Mundo newspaper in an editorial.
“It would be difficult to come up with any symbol more offensive to the Shia population than this cross.”
It was eight months later that the Madrid train stations were bombed.
The Spanish government then fell after they were caught lying (predictably)
about the attribution of the bombing. (And that predictable bit of lying reminds me of the Nord Stream bombing)
Never be surprised when governments shoot themselves in the foot.
At this point everything has been said.
I was born in the GDR and still got about 12 years until the fall of the CCCR.
I was raised with the image and impression of an unspeakable guilt we brought upon us.
All what happened after 1990 couldn’t totally erase these images and thoughts.
The utter hubris, disdain, arrogance and to be frank, simple carelessness and with which western nomenklatura treats this and similar speeches of Russian politicians leaves me chilled to the bone.
There are no words in any language which can describe the sheer and utter cancer, blight and horror the USA is upon this earth.
The pathos is Mrs. Zakharova’s words cannot be missed unless one is morally tone deaf. Her words remind me of the ending of the Russian film “The White Tiger,” where the intelligence officer drives out into the country side, presumably outside of Berlin, to check on the tank commander who can commune with tanks. He finds the commander working on the tank. The gist of the conversation is that although this iteration of the Nazis has been defeated, the White Tiger which embodies the Nazi spirit will come again. As the words fade, there is in the distance a low roar and a thin puff of smoke, the signs of the White Tiger. For Russians, it is obvious, that the German Leopard II is the White Tiger!!!
According to Forbes, Germany is sending 88 tanks to Ukraine!
88 is a neonazi code for Heil Hitler: ‘h’ is the 8th letter in the alphabet.
——————————————————————————————–
Not so simple.
Herr Scholz-ler is sending 14 Leopard-2, and 88 Leopard-1.
14/88 is a common nazi symbol used by nazi scum for endorsement of white supremacy.
As per the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) database on Hate Symbols,
Hate on Display / 1488
———————
General Hate Symbols Numeric Hate Symbols
1488
ALTERNATE NAMES: 8814
1488 is a combination of two popular white supremacist numeric symbols. The first symbol is 14, which is shorthand for the “14 Words” slogan: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.” The second is 88, which stands for “Heil Hitler” (H being the 8th letter of the alphabet). Together, the numbers form a general endorsement of white supremacy and its beliefs. As such, they are ubiquitous within the white supremacist movement – as graffiti, in graphics and tattoos, even in screen names and e-mail addresses, such as aryanprincess1488@hate.net. Some white supremacists will even price racist merchandise, such as t-shirts or compact discs, for $14.88.
The symbol is most commonly written as 1488 or 14/88, but variations such as 14-88 or 8814 are also common.

Nazi-phile Scholz-ler is not only provoking Russia by sending tanks to Ukraine, he’s making mockery of it by calling nazi symbols to the fore.

Understandably Ms. Zakharova is pissed.
———————————————————–
“Pissed” is an understatement, doesn’t even start to describe the depth of her rage.
La Zakharova is outraged at Germany’s dastardly act of breaking with post-WWII foreign policy, marching in lockstep to the barking orders of the empire, losing the remnants of sovereignty former chancellors fought to keep. She’s furious at the insulting indignity of former nazi Germany supporting nazis against Russia once again.
All red lines have been crossed, and as we witnessed, this is not just “business as usual.” For la Zakharova, it went too far it became a personal offense. Her babushka took bread from her mouth to share with German prisoners, and now she’s seeing the heirs to those prisoners hellbent on killing Russians, destroying Russia.
Germany Delenda Est!
And this time, forever…

The German politician’s name was Willy Brandt, not Willebrandt.

We all know that, Mr. Steve.
It is a translation and a transliteration, from Russian to English, of German names. Understandably, YouTube doesn’t have the capacity to reflect that in the captions.
We should all be grateful we got that glorious speech from goddess Zakharova translated to English.
————————————————————————————————————————————-
I think it’s more “USA delenda est” – Zakharova’s speech IIRC points out Germany’s subordination to the USA, implying that the USA is pulling Germany’s strings and not the other way around. The whole goal has been to prevent a Moscow-Berlin alliance which would seriously challenge Anglo-American hegemony.

You’ve got a good point.
I stand corrected,
USA Delenda Est!
will be the war cry in the future.
What I meant by calling Cato the Censor with his cry to destroy Carthage, was not the destruction of Germany, but her capacity to wage war ever again. The German people cannot be blamed for the policies implemented by their ruling elites, since, as we know, they oppose them. However, being a, ahem, “liberal democracy,” a nazi-fascist can easily be elected, and given the manipulation of the electoral system (see Rob D excellent comment down below, Rob D on February 05, 2023 · at 4:24 am EST/EDT), we got people like the current clown Scholz-ler in power, projecting by proxy their historical hate for Russia.
You’re correct, the USA needs to be demilitarized, denazified, and crippled, forever.
To me it looks directed directly towards Scholz as a human being. Given the choice between his own death and the death of humanity, he chose the latter. He has no love for humanity, only himself.
It is even worse than this. Instead of doing the right thing, leading to his ouster as chancellor in a scandal, he went along with the order of his masters. This does not resolve him from his personal responsibility.
Its not the tanks, but rather the ballons; 99 Luft ballons…or one weather ballon..

The pathos articulated in the very personal testimony of this noble woman moved me to tears
and I have to make do with the ineloquently translated subtitling
La Zakharova took us all to a very intimate place in the Russian psyche, her memories of the Great Patriotic War.
She dismissed all other countries’ tanks given to Ukraine, she was laser-focused on Germany.
What Germany has done, is an infamita.
An indignity, an insult of the highest order, a profanation and a desecration against which 27 million souls are screaming from the realm of the unseen against the degradation of their sacrifice.
Putin’s speech in Volgograd, at the 80th Anniversary of the defeat of the German nazi scum in the Battle of Stalingrad, was a severe warning to Germany. Scholz-ler decided to call Putin “in the coming weeks,” as he doesn’t believe Putin’s speech in Volgograd “leads to a political escalation in relations between the two countries.” (sic!)
Scholz-ler is adding insult to injury, making mockery of Russia.
He’s been doing that from the beginning of the SMO, when he derisively smirked at Putin’s calling a genocide the Ukrainian atrocities in Donbass. All this time he’s been outwardly voicing Germany “will not be part in the war against Russia,” while working behind the curtains to defeat Russia in Ukraine, and destroy Russia altogether, once and for all.
Scholz-her is nazi scum in not so much disguise.
He got very concerned about Putin’s speech, which expressed Russia’s resolve to defend itself against the new incarnation of the nazi scum the forefathers of the current generation fought against.
Putin’s speech is short and to the point, extremely important in the current context, reason I post it in full.

Gala concert for 80th anniversary of defeating German Nazi forces in Battle of Stalingrad
Vladimir Putin made a speech at the gala concert on the 80th anniversary of the defeat of the German Nazi forces by the Red Army in the Battle of Stalingrad.
February 2, 2023 17:35 Volgograd
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Dear veterans and friends,
Today, we are celebrating one of the most important, fateful dates in the history of our country and the world. Exactly 80 years ago, here on the banks of the great Russian Volga River, the hated, cruel enemy was stopped and sent into irreversible retreat, bringing to a conclusion the long, arduous, fierce battle for Stalingrad.
This was not merely a battle for a city – the very existence of a tormented but unvanquished country was at stake, as was the outcome of not only the Great Patriotic War but of World War II as a whole. Every person in the trenches and on the home front felt and understood this. And so, as it has happened repeatedly in our history, we united in the decisive battle and won.
The Battle of Stalingrad justifiably went down in history as a turning point in the Great Patriotic War. In addition to defeating the largest Wehrmacht group and its satellites, the will of the entire Hitler coalition was broken. The European vassals and accomplices of Nazi Germany, many of which fought at Stalingrad, representing practically all countries of subjugated Europe, began feverishly looking for ways to flee, to evade responsibility and shift the blame onto their former masters. Everyone realised what the Soviet people knew from the start – the Nazi plans to destroy our country and Nazi ideas about global domination were doomed to fail.
For 200 days at Stalingrad, two armies fought to the death amid the ruins of this legendary city. The army that proved stronger of will prevailed. The fierce resistance of our soldiers and their commanders, exceeding what is humanly possible, can only be understood and explained by their loyalty to the Motherland, their firm, absolute belief that the truth was on our side. The willingness to go beyond for the sake of the Motherland and the truth, to do the impossible, has always been and remains in the blood, in the character of our multi-ethnic people. This is what defeated Nazism.
Stalingrad has forever become a symbol of the invincibility of our people, of the very power of life. This city, its suburbs and nearby villages had to be rebuilt from the ground up, as hardly a tree or intact building was left standing in the city by February 1943.
The exceptional endurance and self-sacrifice of the defenders and residents of Stalingrad still move us to the core, evoking feelings of the deepest gratitude and respect. It is our moral duty – primarily to the victorious soldiers – to faithfully honour the memory of this feat, to pass it down the generations, and not to let anyone devalue or distort the role of the Battle of Stalingrad in the victory over Nazism and in liberating the entire world from this monstrous evil.
Now we are seeing that unfortunately, the ideology of Nazism – this time in its modern guise – is again creating direct threats to our national security, and we are, time and again, forced to resist the aggression of the collective West.
However incredible, it is a fact – we are again being threatened with German Leopard tanks with crosses on board. There is again a plan to fight Russia on Ukrainian land using Hitler’s successors, the Banderites.
We know that despite the efforts of official bodies and the corrupt propaganda of the unfriendly Western elites, we have many friends all over the world, including the Americas, North America, and Europe.
However, those that are dragging European countries, including Germany, into a new war with Russia, and especially those that are irresponsibly talking about it as a fait accompli, those who are hoping to defeat Russia on the battlefield, apparently fail to understand that a modern war against Russia will be a completely different war for them. We do not send our tanks to their borders but we have what to respond with, and it is not limited to the use of armour. Everyone must realise this.
Obviously, those who are threatening us do not understand a simple truth: all our people, we all grew up and absorbed the traditions of our people at our mothers’ knee – generations of winners who built our country with hard work, sweat and blood, and passed it on to us as a legacy.
The fortitude of the defenders of Stalingrad is the most important moral and ethical guideline for the Russian Army, for all of us. Our soldiers and officers are loyal to this. The continuity of generations, values, traditions is what distinguishes Russia, makes us strong and self-confident, makes us believe in our rightness and in our victory.
I warmly congratulate everyone here, all defenders of the Motherland today, all Russians, and compatriots abroad on the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad.
Happy anniversary to you. Happy celebrations of the triumph of life and justice.
Thank you for your attention.

“We do not send our tanks to their borders but we have what to respond with, and it is not limited to the use of armor.”
How about a visit from Mr. Zircon to present his business card?
I was really impressed by Zakharova’s speech, intelligent and passionate yet controlled. I really wish we had some actual diplomats in my country. I’m far from being a royalist (not my thing at all), but it would seem that the last true diplomat we had was the Queen and now she is gone.
The diplomats in the UK/US remind me of myself as a 10 year old (in the 1980s) when I was arguing with friends, who were Man Utd fans, that my team (Man City) was the superior team. At that time Man Utd were the best in the league and Europe and mine was probably one of the worst. Facts be damned though, I refused to accept the reality…but at least I was a child and I grew up. These people are supposed adults and will probably get worse as time goes on. At least all my childish delusions only brought me a little embarassment, their arrogant delusions are ruining the economy and will likely get my nation destroyed if they keep on pushing it. For people who obsess over shallow things such as ‘optics’ they seem to be willfully blind to the Russians viewing this proxy war as an immediate threat to their existance (and that they are acting in accordance with this credible belief).
She is a diplomat and I am not, so let me add something from Germany.
There is not so much a change in German foreign politics. There has never been a clear distinct German policy, for Germany is officially occupied territory. Meet and greet Directive 1067 of the Allied Joint Chiefs of Staff, which is still in function and has never been withdrawn: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/JCS_1067
Attention to point 4 b.:
“Germany will not be occupied for the purpose of liberation but as a defeated enemy nation. Your aim is not oppression but to occupy Germany for the purpose of realizing certain important Allied objectives. In the conduct of your occupation and administration you should be just but firm and aloof. You will strongly discourage fraternization with the German officials and population. ”
Of course people like Willy Brandt and Helmut Schmidt did it different, those also were other times. At least Merkel still had a spine to withstand the rock and a hard place.
But now. We have a corrupt weakling as Bundeskanzler (Scholz), and a ambitious pure WEF bimbo as FM, who plays the theater act of a business woman combined with a touch of Jennifer Lawrence looks. She’s clueless and could better be named ‘Annalena BlackRock’.
The switch in German attitude has nothing to do with a switch in the thinking of the German people, in fact a recent poll showed that 94% of the German population is against German tanks deliveries. But does it matter? Of course not, out in the open the German government is ‘dancing with wolves’. It is remarkable that at the right time for the Empire a spineless German government arrived. Só convenient, that it becomes suspicious.
One could argue that we as German people chose them. Let me remind you that this is a matter whether you believe it. Germany could be considered as the Ground Zero of political correctness, and yet 20% of the population thinks the outcome of elections are rigged, and that is from a year ago.
Those Leopards are toast, the representatives of the Americans are ready to have us buy the new American tanks, that must be made of gold. Scholz was just framed, he is too dumb to see that.
We also have a German woman as Chief of the European Commission, like a prime minister. I’m more worried about the madness of her texts, that also could have come from some deranged Azovite: https://twitter.com/vonderleyen/status/1537739940942991360
(peculiar isn’t it, a gynaecologist who cherishes mass death…)
and she has also spoken about the destruction of Russia for decades: https://insiderpaper.com/moscow-accuses-west-of-aiming-to-destroy-russia/
(promoting a Morgenthau Plan for Russia, while behind her back in Germany it is being implemented. Just fear that the WEF plans are not embraced everywhere.)
We are not observing a state woman, but a bimbo. She made a career by being so obedient, not by managing her responsible field well. In Germany we know that she left such an incredible mess as former Defense minister, that it is a miracle that we found some tanks anyway. I’m not sure that they will all function.
So, my message is that our weak Beloved Leaders may howl with the wolves that they dance with, but the world shouldn’t really worry that German troops are marching again. For a start, with what?
It not about the tanks, but the symbolism of Germany sending tanks. The 1488 exagerates the point.
It is interessting to what lengt Empire went to make Germany send tanks. It is worth noting the UKs push here, by going ahead as a first with their tanks to get the ball rolling. Then France with somekind of half tank. And eventually the US with their 30 tanks. It will likely be 32 or 33, I forgot the magic number they use. ,
I’m not sure if this was all play for the gallery, but at face value it was the UK who got the ball rolling.
The West loves to moralize at other countries. Now Russia is doing some counter-moralizing.
To be fair to the Germans, though, I note that at the start of German-U.S.S.R. hostilities, the Germans did propose that both sides agree to abide by the Geneva Convention, or some similar convention– I don’t remember exactly, and Stalin refused. Does this excuse Nazi behavior? No, but Stalin’s refusal did create a situation more open to abuses.
The NATO weapons that seem especially concerning to me are the long range missiles. Will these missiles give the desperate clowns in Kiev a way to start an explicit war between NATO and Russia? These are the same people that have been shelling a nuclear power plant.
One other comment; the Russians may be allowing the Ukrainian forces to retreat. This could be a shrewd move. There have been videos from the Kiev forces threatening to kill Zelinsky for his mismanagement. What will happen when large numbers of these very discontented soldiers retreat to Kiev and elsewhere?

Your lesson in “moral relativity” has no grounds to stand upon.
Stalin knew the butchers Russia was facing, why would he waste his time, needed to prepare to face the blood-thirsty nazi beast, in signing a “Geneva Convention” agreement, which Hitler requested as a way to legitimize their carnage? Stalin knew it was part of the nazi circus, he will not allow the USSR to be a marionette in Hitler’s game.
You wouldn’t sign a “Geneva Convention” agreement with a pack of hyenas and jackals surrounding you, would you?
“Oh, we assure you we will humanely kill you, as quickly and painlessly as possible, then we will feed on your rotten body for as long as it takes. You will not feel anything.”
Differently from others, Stalin was not an idiot, reason he defeated the Germans.
//The Soviet Union didn’t sign the Geneva Convention of 1929, because some of its rules were against the Soviet policies. For example, the Geneva Convention allowed POW officers to have orderlies/servants, but the Soviet officers were not officially allowed to have servants. Instead, the Soviet Union recognized the Hague Convention of 1907 that had many of the same key provisions as the Geneva Convention. Also, the Soviet Union passed the law in 1931 called “POW provisions” that presented the Soviet approach to the humane treatment of POWs. In some ways, it was more liberal than the Geneva Convention. At the same time, it was more egalitarian, the distinction between the POW officers and POW soldiers was less pronounced.
And yes, Nazi Germany had to follow the Geneva Convention regardless of the Soviet position because the rules of the Convention were not conditional. But Hitler decided that “Untermenschen” were not worthy of humane treatment.//

I am not Russian but if I was then I don’t think that I could possibly feel anything more offensive than to have german tanks crossing ukraine once again, on their way to attack Russia.
Stay strong Russia !!
I hope the reports about “German” tanks once again fighting Russia is being spread all over Russia. Those reports, plus the nazi symbolism of sending 14/88 tanks to fight Russians is a tremendous gift to Russian information warfare. If they don’t use it for all it’s worth. They will have missed a massive coup. Start talking about that on every talk show, podcast, and on the radio and newspapers. Replay the White Tiger movie countless times. And hold lectures in every school in Russia. I can’t even overstate the awesome informational warfare gift this is for Russia, don’t blow it.

Rob D, you Germans are not alone.
And my guess is that many other countries in Eurostan are facing the same conundrum.
Look at this article about a recent public opinion poll in Poland.
POLAND WILL GET OUT OF THE WAR WITH RUSSIA: 38 MILLION PUTIN’S AGENTS
The Poles are coming to their senses and don’t want to believe their official propaganda. And what they believe, official Warsaw calls ” propaganda of the Kremlin.” All this can lead Poland to “another historical catastrophe”.
“Scary” survey
Probably, the official Warsaw would like to see the results of the public opinion poll, which was conducted by the Warsaw Enterprise Institute, quietly sink into the abyss of the Internet and would never have surfaced. Unfortunately for the Polish authorities, Poland, no matter how Russians feel about this country, is not a stupid people who have not lost the ability to think critically. We, in Russia, often perceive Poland as a single conglomerate of power and people and do not separate them when we hear that the Poles, driven by their long-lived imperial ambitions, make many claims to Russia. But this is far from the case. In Poland, there is an abyss between power and backgammon. If you believe the results of the survey, the Poles stopped believing the official Polish propaganda. And this thesis is replicated by the local press, which makes – note, without any “Kremlin intervention” – far-reaching conclusions.
The above quote belongs to the Polish newspaper Myśl Polska, which publishes an article under the remarkable headline – ” Poles have regained their sanity.” The newspaper writes that the survey was conducted on a sample of 1,061 Poles. Respondents need to express their attitude to eight theses that allegedly ” agree with the Kremlin’s message.” “What were those terrible ‘Moscow’ theses?” – the newspaper asks. Among these theses are the following:
“Refugees from Ukraine are actually economic migrants”;
“We should not support Ukraine until it renounces the Volyn crime, led by its authors and perpetrators.”
Russia allegedly also has the idea that the Poles “should strive for peace, even if it involves territorial concessions from Ukraine.” Or the thesis that ” it is necessary to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine, because this ignites the conflict.”
The poll itself probably wouldn’t have been such a painful blow to the Polish establishment’s ego if it hadn’t been for the comments that accompanied it in the Polish press. Myśl Polska notes that ” the Poles answered all these questions, and none of the answers were liked by those who asked these questions.” The fact is that 63% of respondents “agree with the thesis that Poland cannot afford so-called refugees.” More than half of Poles “believe that aid to Ukraine will not end and that Poland will be involved in long-term armed conflicts.” At the same time, 40% of Poles “see the increasing Ukrainization of Poland, which is destroying Polish culture and society.”
Propaganda bullshit
After the results of the public opinion poll were published, writes Myśl Polska, “immediately there was a howl.” State functionaries from the press unanimously shouted that “the number of people who share the theses of Russian propaganda is growing!” And it is here that Myśl Polska hits the nail on the head, deducing a deep, almost philosophical maxim that “even the most courageous of the leaders of party and state propaganda and the most courageous of the luminaries of progress are well aware that you should differ in any small things and even in most minor ones. But here, on the contrary, something important happened. Poles have stopped unconsciously consuming propaganda noodles, which they are being forced to eat.”
Official Russophobic propaganda in Poland is going through the roof, looking for its basis in Polish nationalism. The country’s leadership appeals to far-gone times, which haunt the extremely nationalistic, but not the largest wing of Polish society. It is enough to read the speech of Polish President Andrzej Duda, which he pushed during a recent visit to Riga. Duda, in particular, stated:
“Once, not so long ago, I said to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky: ‘Volodimir, looking at our history, at how these roads once diverged, I would very much like to ask you – when you defeat Russia, when the Russians arrive on their knees to sign a peace treaty, take them to Pereyaslav, let them they will sign a peace treaty with you there, so let them erase all these years of Soviet and Russian influence.'”
That is, Duda and others like him still suffer from the fact that in 1654, at the Pereyaslavsky Rada, Zaporozhye Cossacks led by Bohdan Khmelnitsky took the oath of allegiance to the Russian tsar. Duda still sleeps restlessly from this.
Scary conclusion
Myśl Polska draws a conclusion that official Warsaw would aptly call “Kremlin-like”: “Maybe the increasingly empty pockets, maybe the increasingly annoying neighborhood of newcomers, or maybe the fear for the future of our families made us wake up from a lethargic dream? Of course, not everyone is probably awake yet, and not even most of them. But there are enough awakened people to threaten the warm, fetid stability in which political parasites and the media they feed have been basking for decades.”
Such reflections, expressed aloud in Polish society, make us, in Russia, think about how big the gap is between Polish society and those in the Polish government and Sejm who present the case as if they are speaking on behalf of the people. And to what extent this gap between the Polish “top” and “bottom” can influence Poland’s foreign policy, in particular, its participation in the anti-Russian Western coalition led by the United States, waging war against Russia in Ukraine.
Apart from the United States, which is the leader of the Western coalition, out of all this cohort of loud and aggressive countries, perhaps only Poland, through the efforts of its “political class” – and then, as we can see, not all of them – is really ready to throw itself into the maelstrom of open war with Russia. With the United States behind us, of course. The yapping of the Balts doesn’t count. The circle of politicians and tycoons belonging to the Polish establishment, passing on their “imperial genes” from one generation to another – even since the reunification of Ukraine with Russia – did not stop looking at Russia as an enemy that must be dismembered and destroyed in parts.
The Polish establishment is haunted by the once-lost “Eastern kres”, for the sake of which Warsaw is trying to do everything to prevent Russia from winning, so that Western military assistance to Kiev does not stop and so that the conflict does not subside. Only in this case, Warsaw has a chance to regain what was lost in the depths of the past centuries. And the integrity of Ukraine is not considered here at all. Moreover, in the same Riga speech, Duda called the Ukrainians ” former compatriots in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.” Is it clear where the pressure is going? This is almost an announcement of the plan for the unification of Ukraine and Poland. With the latter dominating, of course. Moreover, Warsaw dreams of European leadership, and this can only be achieved if you please Washington.
So what?
Given the public opinion poll, the majority of Poles do not share the expansionist aspirations of official Warsaw, which – and only they – are the reason for Poland’s most active participation in the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, ordinary Poles are well aware that expansionist plans belonging only to a narrow circle of the Polish establishment are actively being warmed up by external forces, that is, the United States, which is using Poland as a battering ram in the war in Ukraine.
“If someone interrupts the obsessive mantra that has been imposed on us by external centers for years, they immediately become the object of a shameless attack. He is ridiculed, silenced, and in extreme cases even harassed. This is freedom of speech today. This is Poland today,
– writes Myśl Polska. The newspaper points out that decades of civil passivity of Poles ” led to the creation of a mediocre, parasitic political class, de facto alienated from the body of the nation,” as a result of which Poland “is waiting for another historical catastrophe.”
Painful for Poles, but very honest analysis of the situation in which Poland is located. Meanwhile, there is little chance that the voice of the people will be heard, and that anything will change over the next two years. The next presidential election in Poland is scheduled only for 2025. Before that, another historical catastrophe in Poland may already take place.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a number of statements designed to clarify the strangeness of Germany’s position on military assistance to Ukraine. In words, Berlin strongly supports the militarization of the Kiev regime, in reality, it decided to supply tanks only under the colossal pressure of Washington. If you carefully study both the words of the German leader and the German press, it becomes clear that Germany offers Zelensky to surrender.
Germany’s role in the Ukrainian conflict looks very ambiguous. On the one hand, not only the current government, but even Angela Merkel herself cheerfully report on support for Ukraine, which began long before February 24, 2022. On the other hand, Germany’s position on arms supplies to Kiev in Ukraine (and not only in Ukraine) is called “sabotage”.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in an interview with Bild on February 5, explains Germany’s position as follows: “Ina place with our allies, we are handing over to Ukraine the main battle tanks so that it can defend itself. We carefully weighed each arms shipment and coordinated it closely with our allies, primarily America. These joint actions prevent the escalation of the war.” At the same time, according to Scholz, “tanks, like new cars, cannot simply be ordered from a dealer, because the equipment is nowhere ready for export. The state needs to conclude long-term supply contracts with industry.”
Germany’s caution is justified by two considerations.
First, military-political. The task of the supplies is not so much the desire to prevent the defeat of Ukraine, as the desire to prevent “escalation”, which is understood, obviously, as the transfer of hostilities to the territory of Ukraine’s allies. True, this logic looks strange. The more weapons are supplied to Ukraine, the greater the scale of hostilities, the greater the likelihood of that “escalation”. But as long as the fighting covers only the territory of Ukraine, the scheme seems to work.
Secondly, military-economic. At the end of 2021, the Bundeswehr had 285 units of Leopard 2 tanks of three modifications, and only about 180 of them were in a state of combat readiness. Meanwhile, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, demanded 300 tanks from the Allies. He did not consider it necessary to explain where the order of a thousand tanks that were in the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the beginning of the SVO, and several hundred tanks that were received from Eastern European countries went.
However, the answer to this question is probably well known in the Ministry of Defense of Russia – according to the latest reports, 7737 Ukrainian tanks and armored vehicles have already been destroyed during the SVO. It is clear that when organizing the supply of tanks in Ukraine, they count not only on Germany (we are also talking about Spain and Poland) and not only on the relatively modern Leopard 2, but also on the leopard 1 removed from service.
By the way, Scholz rejected Vladimir Putin’s words about repeating the scenario of the Great Patriotic War (“we are again threatened with German Leopard tanks”). According to Scholz, this is “nothing more than a series of abstruse historical comparisons that he uses to justify his attack on Ukraine.” But we do not believe in the coincidence that Germany is going to supply Ukraine with 14 tanks of the new and 88 of the old modification. It is common knowledge that the combination 14/88 is a Nazi slogan (coded greeting “Heil Hitler!”).
According to Scholz, Germany is doing everything possible to “protect” Ukraine. But here’s what’s interesting is that Germany does not proceed from the needs of Ukraine, voiced by Zaluzhny, but from its own military-political and military-economic considerations. In other words, from the interests of Germany, not Ukraine. Thus acknowledging that Ukraine is not so important to the West. And it is a means rather than an end, a means to confront Russia.
It turns out that this is so, and there is even a justification that Ukraine does not need assistance in principle. For example, this is the content of an article published in the German Die Welt. The title is more than characteristic: “Why is it now almost impossible that Kiev will be able to win.”
To begin with, the editorial board states: “Kiev missed the chance to win, which it had due to Moscow’s initial miscalculations.” How they imagined the “victory of Ukraine” in principle is not explained. There was, they say, a chance, but it came out all. Now “it is almost impossible that Ukraine will emerge victorious from this fight. Especially if the victory is really seen by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “the liberation of all occupied territories, including Crimea.”
The reasons for this are as follows. First, the West, fearing escalation, “supports Ukraine only to the extent that it does not have to capitulate immediately.” Secondly, the volume of supplies of air defense systems is insufficient to prevent the destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
It should be noted here that Russia did not set out to destroy the Ukrainian energy sector. The objectives were clearly military and political, and judging by the decrease in the intensity of the strikes, such a strategy was considered exhausted (it can be assumed that the goals were achieved).
Third, Russia has enough resources to suppress Ukraine’s defenses, which rely on a small number of precision-guided systems.
Fourthly, in Ukraine “at least the eighth wave of mobilization is taking place, men over 60 years old are already being sent to the front.” At the same time, “Moscow has a mobilization reserve of almost 30 million people.”
Fifth, Russia may emerge from the conflict as a political winner: “[Ukraine’s] membership in NATO after the conclusion of an armistice agreement or peace talks will be excluded in the foreseeable future, and Ukraine’s accession to the EU will last (…) much longer than Kiev wants.”
It would seem that the article looks like a criticism of the position of the West, which does not help Ukraine enough, but in fact its efforts are aimed at concluding a truce, as a result of which the territory of Ukraine will be reduced. However, on the other hand, the content of the article looks like a justification for the position of the West – Russia’s resources are too great, and “spreading the war to the territory of NATO” is not necessarily “self-intimidation”.
Scholz’s conclusions are confirmed, for example, by the report of the Swiss newspaper Neue Zurcher Zeitung, according to which US President Joe Biden in mid-January instructed the head of the CIA to appeal to Moscow and Kiev with a proposal to conclude peace on the terms of losing about 20% of Ukrainian territory. Both the United States and Russia, of course, denied this report. But the residue remained.
Germany, of course, refused any subjectivity in the Ukrainian issue. Scholz explicitly says that decisions on arms supplies are decided by “consensus”, and this “consensus” is in Washington.
But the general impression is that the German reader is told the opinion that the West will not be able to win in the Ukrainian conflict, and therefore it is better not to spend extra resources on it. Apparently, the German leadership has long known that no one particularly believes in the “victory of Ukraine”, because it stubbornly refused to supply tanks to Ukraine both last year and this year. Germany’s position changed only after France intervened in the process, and Emmanuel Macron promised to supply Ukraine with “wheeled tanks”. Deliveries of German tanks were coordinated with similar decisions of the United States and Great Britain.
By the way, the transfer of a relatively small number of tanks of four different types clearly indicates that the transfer itself is almost meaningless from a military point of view. It would be better for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to get more units of obsolete equipment (T-55 or their Chinese counterparts). A small number of high-tech tanks is a nightmare in terms of supply and maintenance, and only a tactical one can give an advantage. From a political point of view, everything is in order – the allies demonstrate unity and support Ukraine. If Ukraine loses, it is not the allies who are to blame. They supported…
Thus, the “assistance” that Germany in particular and the West in general provide to Ukraine is needed mainly to solve the political and economic problems of the West itself. Ukraine is increasingly hinted at the need to conclude peace on Russian terms.
———————————————-
“…the need to conclude peace on Russian terms.”
That was the idea then, when Lavrov presented the drafts to the US/NATO, and that’s the idea now, almost a year later, and a devastated Ukraine.

Not so simple.
Herr Scholz-ler is sending 14 Leopard-2, and 88 Leopard-1.
14/88 is a common nazi symbol used by nazi scum for endorsement of white supremacy.
As per the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) database on Hate Symbols,
https://www.adl.org/resources/hate-symbol/1488

I’m shocked.

Thanks for taking the time to post Putins speech.
Typo in the title. It should read:
Germany tanks in the Ukraine. Again.
Impressive speech by Maria Zakharova.
I’m more worried about the madness of her texts, that also could have come from some deranged Azovite:
https://twitter.com/vonderleyen/status/1537739940942991360
(peculiar isn’t it, a gynaecologist who cherishes mass death…)
and she has also spoken about the destruction of Russia for decades:
https://insiderpaper.com/moscow-accuses-west-of-aiming-to-destroy-russia/
Cheers and stay safe, Rob

No need for a “Geneva Convention.”
Lone Wolf

“…The switch in German attitude has nothing to do with a switch in the thinking of the German people, in fact a recent poll showed that 94% of the German population is against German tanks deliveries. But does it matter? Of course not, out in the open the German government is ‘dancing with wolves’. It is remarkable that at the right time for the Empire a spineless German government arrived. Só convenient, that it becomes suspicious…”

“Refugees from Ukraine are actually economic migrants”;

Germany’s Scholz-ler: “We support 404, but… we know the end result.”

Scholz foresees Ukraine’s defeat
This kerfuffle can only end on Russian terms.
Full stop.
