Moscow wants Zelenski alive to sign the surrender document. He will provide legitimacy to the surrender. This is of course why he will be assassinated. The US cannot allow anyone with legitimacy to sign it.

    • Zil on July 25, 2022  ·  at 4:35 am EST/EDT

Doom, I agree with your comment although I had not thought that could be one of the reasons for his assassination — or his disapearance. Instead, I would think that if it happens is because Zelenski knows too much and will likely talk later about what he knows… Let’s see what happens.

It was Scott Ritter who was first sharing this idea with the public.

      • Eric Zuesse on July 26, 2022  ·  at 8:04 pm EST/EDT

I looked trying to find what you are referring to there, but found nothing. I have long been expecting America to assassinate Zelensky. On 12 March 2022 I headlined “Why did Vladimir Putin (probably) save Volodmyr Zelensky’s life?” at places such as
        https://moderndiplomacy.eu/2022/03/12/why-did-vladimir-putin-probably-save-volodymyr-zelenskys-life
where I explained the reasons. If you know of anyone who was suggesting this idea earlier than that, please specify the instance in a way which will enable readers to verify the allegation.

That sounds like a tidy end, however, the backlash for the EU heads of State, and other allies, would be immense. All other Nations outside the West, as now, would not abandon Russia. But a straightforward “killing one of your own” puppets, isn’t gonna fly. You’d see the resignations left and right in the EU, even worse than the jumping ship now of Draghi & Johnson. So, I have been curious about Mrs Z’s trip to US… they maybe be planning an “exile” type thing. Whatever the moronic plan is, I doubt it’ll throw Russia off the track, they’ve certainly dealt with chaos (Syria), they’ll sleepwalk through this. The Western “media” can hyperventilate about whatever. Russia just doesn’t care anymore. But the message that would send to their “allies” in NATO would be the final nail in the coffin.

    • carlusjr on July 25, 2022  ·  at 1:00 am EST/EDT

You’re view is rational. But at this point we should realize that it is not realistic. The former leader of Japan was assassinated. I’ve read that it was done (not by the guy that was arrested) because he was talking to Russia and China about how to secretly get along with them without Japan suffering any repercussions. Killing Zelensky would send a message to all the puppets: if you fail in anyway, we’ll get rid of you.

Yes. It did and still does play very well for Russia; but Erdogan is not stupid and he knows where the future is – in Asia.

When Turkey leaves NATO, as it must soon with its improving relationship with Russia, it’s over for the Evil Empire. The EU and USA will struggle to survive as modern societies without any Middle Eastern or Asian help or commodities – oh dear, what a shame, they’ve achieved a spectacular own goal with their arrogance.

Killing him would plunge ukraine into chaos so that there is no orderly surrender by zelstein, and the country is a free for all, or maybe even serve as an excuse for some type of Polish intervention.

  4. Michael Droy on July 24, 2022  ·  at 7:13 pm EST/EDT

And neatest of the lot – they can use a HIMARS to do it – after all everyone knows Russia has got more HIMARS than Ukraine has now.

  5. Black Cloud on July 24, 2022  ·  at 7:14 pm EST/EDT

Nope. _elenski is more valubable as stooge than as a martyr to stupidity. If anyone is going to kill him, it will be the Ukrainians who have been betrayed by him.

    • Trubind1 on July 24, 2022  ·  at 10:21 pm EST/EDT

Black Cloud: Agreed. Watching the Ukraine soldier videos, I believe Sullivan was speaking the truth about his life in danger. At this point, any whacked out angry soldier has him in their sights. Also, I understand that all of his bodyguards etc. have been replaced by M16 spies and UK soldiers for protection.

      • White Whale on July 25, 2022  ·  at 12:13 am EST/EDT

“… understand that all of his bodyguards etc. have been replaced by M16 spies and UK soldiers for protection.…
        ………”…”for “*protection*” (smirk, nudge, eyeroll)
Lol. See. That’s *exactly* the problem.

White Whale: Lol 😂Yup…”protection” UK style! Guess Johnson gonna make a last “visit” to Ukraine & see how his asset is doing. Maybe… President Johnson of Ukraine coming up?

      • Edvard on July 26, 2022  ·  at 11:07 am EST/EDT

How will a Ukraine soldier get near him? My guess is Zelensky is in Poland most of the time. Sullivan is one of those most evil creeps aka The U.S. State Dept which is closely connected to the C*I*A.

I think Ganzalo is right and maybe Soctt Ritter has said the same thing. Retired Colonel Mcgregor (?) has said once Russia gets past these defenses of long lines of fox holes, etc then the Ukraine is wide open for taking.

The Ukraine has decided to conscript women and has upped the age of men to age 70! These poor people need to surrender who are on the front lines. The Ukraine is a criminally run country – run by evil people in the Ukraine and in London, DC, Switzerland and Israel plus a few other places.

  6. Mcelroy on July 24, 2022  ·  at 8:02 pm EST/EDT

Uh. No, Z isn’t getting assassinated by the US. All we have to do is stop sending weapons and he’ll be dead in no time. He’s corrupt though, one of the worst in the world, so maybe kilomoiski or someone else wants to off him.

  7. iR.47 on July 24, 2022  ·  at 8:07 pm EST/EDT

Spot on. Zelensky has been a dead man walking for a while now, this outcome was just a question of time from Day#1 of the SMO. The removal of his best buddy as boss from SBU was a strong clue. With the recent statement from Sullivan it’s now a certainty.

Only hope of survical is a deal with the Russians, if he’s smart he already has one. That would be a kicker.

  8. Tom on July 24, 2022  ·  at 8:09 pm EST/EDT

The Saker and Gonzola Lira in the same day, I’m in heaven.
    This theory makes sense.
Getting rid of Zelensky and blaming the Russians in the near future accomplishes two goals for the neo-cons.
    1) It denies Russia the total victory that continuing the war until October would lead to. i.e. there will be no “Battle of Yorktown”-type ending to the war in and around Slovyansk followed up by peace negotiations and an honorable settlement signed by both parties. Ukrainians can then always say that they were “holding their own” until Russia stabbed them in the back and refuse to accept the defeat.
    2) It retains some fighting capability in the Ukrainian army to be used in forming an insurgency which would otherwise be whittled down to almost nothing if, again, the war continues for several more months.
Russia had best create as many local militias as possible to fight this plan, which, I’ve heard, they’ve already started in Kherson.
If this does come true, then Ukraine will be a living hell for the next few years or even decades. Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and soon Ukraine. The neo-cons seem to have a knack for destroying countries.

  9. norecovery on July 24, 2022  ·  at 8:17 pm EST/EDT

Who knows? Russia probably has one or more spies in Zelensky’s inner circle, so an assassination plot might be discovered and the perps fingered. Could missiles be fired at Ukraine’s top command center without being tracked to the source? Maybe Zel is being retired and told to get out with Western protection before it’s too late, and he would be replaced by CIA agents outside the country. Maybe that was part of the deal all along, should the war ‘go south.’ The next stage after collapse probably will be a terrorist insurgency bc the Neocons won’t accept defeat or stop being nasty.

    • Edward on July 25, 2022  ·  at 10:17 am EST/EDT

Russia would not assassinate zelstein. At worst, they would force him to flee ukraine. So if he is killed, look at his western handlers.

Good points and a way forward..

  11. AHH on July 24, 2022  ·  at 8:42 pm EST/EDT

GL’s supposition of assassination is supported in a recent article by Crooke. What he refers to as the realist faction of the crazies may have won out. If correct, a decision was made to freeze the Ukraine front along the lines he describes so as to focus on China – UkroNazi decapitation + insurgency of the tar-baby variety. They are no longer capable of waging a simultaneous two-front war (or rather terrorist/proxy-burning campaigns) against both peer powers:

the U.S. Realist camp – are not so besotted with Russia; for them, ‘real men’ take on China. These want just to keep the Ukraine conflict at a face-saving stalemate, if possible (more weapons), whilst the pivot to China is activated.

In a speech at the Hudson Institute, Mike Pompeo made a foreign policy statement.. about China, yet what he said about Ukraine was interesting: Zelensky’s importance to the U.S. was contingent on his keeping the war going (i.e. saving western face).

His message was weapons, weapons, weapons to Ukraine, and ‘move on’ – through pivoting to China NOW. Pompeo insisted the U.S. recognise Taiwan diplomatically today, irrespective of what occurs. (i.e. regardless of whether this action triggers war with China.) And he rolled-up Russia into the equation by simply saying that Russia and China effectively should be treated as one.

This swiveling to China is supported by Pelosi’s planned trip to Taiwan in August. China is aware and not amused.

China: “For national reunification, we are even willing to go to a war”

    • Rokossovsky on July 25, 2022  ·  at 2:24 am EST/EDT

It looks like history (1941) is repeating itself. Freeze the conflict with Churchill and England in the Atlantic and in the air, so as to focus on Stalin and the Soviet Union. (sigh)

  12. PaleRider on July 24, 2022  ·  at 8:52 pm EST/EDT

WoW Gonzalo, this hypothesis is definitely testable and I guess we will see if it is falsified in the next few weeks/month. The RF is reportedly raising military units that are entirely Ukrainian in the Crimea region. Maybe this is also anticipation of a Ukrainian patriot base supported by the RF to take over the country if what you san comes to be?

      Remember Albert Nisman?

A political scandal has erupted in Argentina over the mysterious death of special prosecutor Albert Nisman. The 52-year-old was found dead in his apartment on January 18 2015.

On the next day, Nisman was scheduled to testify before Congress that Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (along with members of her government) had attempted to cover-up a deal that protected the perpetrators of the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish cultural center.

Albert Nisman had nothing, his testimony the next day would have created an ignominious conclusion
to a good run of propaganda (like Robert Mueller’s final testimony before Congress re:Russiagate). Albert Nisman had a “nothing burger”.

But with Nisman’s death the propaganda took on rejuvenated life. “He been assassinated to keep him from revealing the truth!”, they would indeed say.

Nisman had served his masters with his claims. There was only one more service he could provide, to be assassinated.

ps. A side note on Robert Mueller’s testimony. The Democrats were salivating waiting for Mueller to finally testify as to Trump’s guilt. Mueller had nothing, in fact, he had misled the American people for almost two years. He might be liable to prosecution there was so much wrong doing during the investigation he led.

The mentally disabled don’t get prosecuted, so he faked cognitive decline. Everyone would say that someone else had been in charge of the investigation all along. It would be easy for a 76-year-old. Stay awake for three days in a row before his testimony, throw in a good hangover and voila – cognitive decline.
      No acting abilities required.

  17. Nunja Piznes on July 24, 2022  ·  at 10:52 pm EST/EDT

Having olodymor elensky wacked would be a neat off ramp for US. Neocons realize war is lost. One last false flag, the ultimate, to both mask the failure and turn Russia into a pariah state….. to sway back zone B into the neocon fold. Sure, there are certainly many angry ukies, but elensky has so far been a fairly successful megaphone and entitled beggar.

  18. Markos on July 24, 2022  ·  at 11:47 pm EST/EDT

If Lira keeps predicting Zelensky’s overthrow or death he’s is bound to be right eventually But.I don’t know why the US would bump off Zelensky. now..He is a loyal tool . Replacing him would make no sense or difference anyway..the US pulls the strings in the Ukraine and their “leaders” dance

  19. Alaric on July 24, 2022  ·  at 11:49 pm EST/EDT

Could be but killing Zelensky would introduce great uncertainty as to who will lead the country. The US would sacrifice a puppet for a possible pro Russian gov. The later would be extremely disadvantageous for the US. Zelensky is still useful and still in control of western ukraine. The situation changes is russia takes more land.

  21. TheObsoleteMan on July 25, 2022  ·  at 12:22 am EST/EDT

The evil empire will kill him because he knows to much. He was and is in on the money laundering going on between the highest levels of US and NATO entities, using the Ukraine and the war as their laundromat. Billions pour in under the pretext of military and humanitarian aid, a cut of 10-30% is distributed between the Ukie officials and the rest is sent back out to the western criminal politicians. He will not be allowed to either be captured or even allowed to escape to the west, they can’t take the chance that someone will talk. Not only Zelensky, but many other Ukie insiders will be liquidated. Several Tomahawks launched from a US sub or a bomber safely inside NATO air space would do the trick, and of course they will blame it all on Putin, just like they did the attack on Odessa.

  22. Leyca on July 25, 2022  ·  at 12:39 am EST/EDT

Killing Zelinski accomplishes little, because of presidential succession list. How many people would US have to kill to hinder legitimacy of the surrender ? US would achieve more by evacuating him and keeping him alive out of Russian reach.

Russians can setup an election in Ukrainian protectorate, invite whoever wants to come to observe and not care about anyone who refuses and have Ukrainians elect their new parliament and government. The USA and West and their opinion are becoming less and less relevant.

    • Old Brown Fool on July 26, 2022  ·  at 4:17 am EST/EDT

No; blame Russia for killing Zelensky, then refuse to recognize his legitimate successor; call him a Russian puppet; when the successor signs a treaty or armistice with Russia, denounce it, shout that the successor has spoiled the prospects of an Ukrainian victory; and fund a few armed insurgencies inside the erstwhile Ukraine… yes, looks very feasible.

  23. Zork12753 on July 25, 2022  ·  at 1:29 am EST/EDT

If Zelensky wants to skip performing in his dramatic death scene he’d better be on the next night flight to Telaviv, and claim asylum and protection.

  24. the blame-e on July 25, 2022  ·  at 2:40 am EST/EDT

Russian forces will arrive on the Polish border just as the first snowflakes begin falling. Assuming the West isn’t that stupid and that deranged (but that’s assuming a lot), to begin an invasion of Russia during a Russian Winter, things will be quiet until the first day of Spring 2023.

  25. Oscar on July 25, 2022  ·  at 2:41 am EST/EDT

I agree with Gonzalo. Russians are surely aware of this. Why not offer him political asylum in Russia just to make the enemy aware the russia knows their plans?

  26. A non bot on July 25, 2022  ·  at 2:57 am EST/EDT

Elensky looks useful in high heels, we’ve seen the video. I suggest he dresses up in women’s clothing, a cunning disguise, slip out the back door, and take a taxi to the border with Belarus where he can hand himself over and claim asylum.

  27. Jolanda on July 25, 2022  ·  at 3:16 am EST/EDT

Gonzalo and others are wrong with the bridges over the Dneper as Ukrainians have shown ample willingness to blow up bridges whenever they retreat. There is no chance for the Russians to capture these bridges intact. This leaves only two possible reasons why these bridges still stand. Reason A, they may be too difficult to destroy for the Russians. These bridges are heavy, Soviet-build, reinforced concrete and steel structures. Too many missiles may have to be expended to destroy anyone of them. Does Kinzhal have sufficient kinetic energy to do the trick? That might still be a stretch. Reason B, the Russians may want to facilitate the flow of weapons to the Est, leading to the demilitarization of any source where these weapons come from. That would point to a much wider range of the SMO than just Ukraine and the Russians feeling just fine with how it’s going.

As for pretending that a HIMARS captured by the Russians assassinated Zelensky, Kiev is too far from the Belorussian border for that to be credible, so this kind of false flag is ruled out. It would probably have to be a night strike with cruise missiles. But many things can still go wrong with this modus operandi, e.g. there could be wreckage lying around for people to find it and post pictures of. Most plausible would be a palace coup. But if the gambit is to let a Ukraine in chaos fall into the hands of the Russians, why should they take the bait? They could make out with the Russian-dominated parts of Ukraine instead. Only if and when the rest starts attacking again, or starts preparing itself for attacking, they could resume their slow, grinding advance. The grinding advance would lead to killing off everyone who might resist later, just like it is at present.

All in all, Sullivan threatening Zelensky – and it’s clearly a threat – probably points to some acute degree of panic on Sullivan’s part, not so much to some thought-out plan.

  28. Roger on July 25, 2022  ·  at 3:29 am EST/EDT

Propaganda only works with people stupid enough to disbelieve obvious lies. Fooling them is not mastery.
Creating a mass of people that stupid, now that is really something masterful. Zelensky didn’t do that.

    • the blame-e on July 26, 2022  ·  at 5:37 am EST/EDT

Zelensky is a con artist, a midget, a pathological liar, and a drug addict, and a Nazi. Just like Hitler (except for the midget part). Give Zelensky another ten years (if he lives that long) and the consequences of decades of drug use and bad behavior will catch up with him — Parkinson’s. Cancer. Breakdowns in the major organs. I would add dementia, but this tool of the United States is already a stupid fKKKK who made a deal with the devil.

  29. Joseph E Fasciani on July 25, 2022  ·  at 4:35 am EST/EDT

Zelensky will continue as Tel Aviv-Yafo’s and WaDC’s current useful idiot as long as he follows their script. Once he fails to do as he’s told, which is highly unlikely as he knows where all his benefits derive, he will be merged with the others who went off script, for whatever reason.

My concern for the long term is who will succeed Vladimir Putin, a true historical Great Man. It will likely be another man, as Russia’s history does not readily create such strong women: they can be said to be counted on one hand.

I’m not saying there are no candidates with the required abilities, but at present they have a very low profile. The sooner they assert themselves, however, the better for all concerned.

  30. Bob Marsden on July 25, 2022  ·  at 5:08 am EST/EDT

If in Gonzalo’s scenario Western Ukraine descends into chaos, wouldn’t it, rather than be a Russian responsibility, be an opportunity for the Poles to mount a Special Humanitarian Operation to relieve the rump of the country from anarchy, and restore territorial order under Polish ‘protection’?

    • war is on on July 25, 2022  ·  at 6:28 am EST/EDT

Read history, not so sure Western ukrops love Poland and vice versa. In fact they hate everybody, just interested to steal or racket money (weapons but it will not last).Parasitism.Here in Western Europe more and more people have enough with ‘fake ukrops refugees’, with BMW and Mercedes, receiving up to 1500 euros and doing nothing + free novotel or ibis hotel, free transport, even in some countries priority for health service. They don’t make any effort to help or work, just in holidays. There are of course exceptions. But refugees fatigue is high.

      • Bob Marsden on July 25, 2022  ·  at 9:44 am EST/EDT

“Special Humanitarian Operation” is a euphemism for annexation by force and colonial occupation. Whether the Poles and Ukrainians love each other doesn’t come into it. NATO would justify it as preventing Russia invading the rest of Ukraine.

  31. Zil on July 25, 2022  ·  at 5:13 am EST/EDT

Gonzalo Lira has a very convincing, informed argument. Would it be wise to think that Zelenski’s wife went to the US to negotiate a ‘exile’ strategy for him/them with a new identity? I doubt that, at this stage, after so much dead people — Russians and mostly Ukrainians -, Russia would give to Zelenski a refuge in Russia…

I am reminded of the incessant warnings trumpeted by the US State Dept. that Russia was about to invade Ukraine when in reality Ukraine had been preparing to invade the DPR/LPR for eight years under US/UK tutelage. Furthermore as admitted by Poroshenko the 2015 Minsk Agreement which he negotiated with Russia, France and Germany as president of Ukraine, was merely a distraction intended to buy time for Kiev to rebuild its military and prepare for a campaign to regain the Russian occupied Ukranian territories of the Donbass and Crimea. As Gonzalo correctly implies a projection of their evil intentions onto the current enemy of the ‘Empire of Lies’ Russia.

Before taking on this particular stand-up routine, Zelenski should have looked at all the previous western installed dictators to know that once they’ve served their purpose they are discarded and dead soon after.
He ‘knows too much’ and therefore cannot be allowed to live once the credits roll on this show. Maybe he should apply for a Russian passport now, because no one else will want this clown when the circus leaves town, and his Nazi chums won’t be helping a non useful Jew.

It’s interesting to listen to Gonzalo — it’s like having a conversation about the Ukraine with a friend over a cup of coffee. Generally speaking I reckon it doesn’t really matter if Zelensky (or whoever is Ukrainian president) departs this world or not. This is a contest between Russia and the US. If Zelensky kicks the bucket tomorrow and goes to meet Stepan Bandera, the Americans will just put another useful idiot-in-chief in his chair and life will go on. They won’t be short of candidates, not with the prospect of a fat signing-on bonus and perhaps a nice villa in Israel, Canada or a dozen other places.

Having said this, Zelensky’s puppeteer Jacob Sullivan has indeed given him notice: perhaps, as Gonzalo says, the US has given up on the Ukraine and is planning a diabolical farewell present for the Russians and the hapless Ukrainians. Or perhaps Zelensky is being recalcitrant with regard to the West’s peace for land deal being bandied about in Western capitals; perhaps he has fallen short of expectations. Who knows?

A decapitated Ukraine — if it comes to pass — could descend into chaos; it’s a possibility that can’t be discounted of course. On the other hand it could also shock the Ukrainians enough to make them stop fighting. Many in western Ukraine are not keen to fight anyway. Indeed some of the AFU are not too keen on fighting either, hence the presence of nazi ‘blocking’ battalions at their rear.

But I think a decapitated Ukraine will most likely only affect the west of the country ie those areas not yet liberated. The areas already liberated will not be affected much, if at all, especially those areas with functioning civil-military administrations in place. The people in these areas are already looking East and thinking about being Russian. So it will be a chaotic and lawless western Ukraine that will emerge. It may present a problem for Russia later but it will certainly present an immediate problem for the Euro satrapies who are currently hosting — more and more reluctantly — millions of Ukrainian refugees. Poland will be screaming for help (and plenty of money) as will Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, more so as the boomerang sanctions bite deeper and their economies tank further. Poland for one will need to shelter, feed and keep warm about a million extra bodies come winter, and gas prices…oh my. And who’s to stop bandits armed with Javelins and Stingers (those not already sold) from crossing into Western Europe? The lawlessness will spread West. Information operations about Russia’s hand in the decapitation may get some traction amongst the populace of about, oh, thirty five countries or so; the people in RoW won’t buy it, and worse, they don’t care — they have a more exciting vision of the future being pioneered by RF and PRC to look forward to. So no, I think the decapitation plan won’t be activated.

Russia needs to take a page from the neolib play book. Pick an unknown Ukie politician, Russia friendly, then declare that person President in exile. Or at least start a similar process. Make that person the head of the Free Ukrainian Army.

The neat thing about predicting Zelensky’s assassination is that Gonzalo will never be called on it. If it happens, he can declare himself correct with enthusiasm. If it doesn’t happen, time drags on and the prediction becomes unimportant and gets forgotten.

The alleged fanatical Nazi assassin is unlikely to have an opportunity to do it. Killing him would discourage other people from operating as one of our client’s, not a good thing. And he would be convenient for the Russians for one reason or another.

The Washington Regime, now as throughout its whole history, represents the acme of evil. Pure evil. It has no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. There will be no peace in the world until this vile regime is extirpated.

And ordinary Americans, innocent or guilty, will have to pay a very heavy price for the decades long crimes and atrocities of this regime, like the Germans starving and freezing in the rubble of their ruined cities in 1945. There are already unmistakable signs of imminent collapse, financially and economically, politically, socially and spiritually. Events are moving very fast.

Like a wounded animal, this regime is lashing out in its death throes, plotting simultaneous genocidal wars against Russia, China and Iran. Its demise cannot come a moment too soon.

It won’t be just Zelenski but his entire entourage. These people are all privy to the machinations of the US Nato and EU and will be capable of spilling the beans if they fall under the influence of the Kremlin. The Empire will not just sit idly by but will take steps to ensure that no one survives to tell the tale.

  42. Jim Jatras on July 25, 2022  ·  at 9:06 am EST/EDT

Interesting thesis. It might happen. But there are alternative interpretations.
    1. Moscow doesn’t “need” Zelensky or anybody else to sign a surrender if the Ukrainian state ceases to exist.
    2. If Ukrainian descends into chaos that isn’t necessarily bad for the Russians. It might induce even Ukrainians who aren’t particularly pro-Russian to resign themselves to any order imposed by Moscow as preferable to anarchy. Western efforts to insert terrorism would likely feed that impulse, not create a quagmire as Western fantasists imagine.
If Washington does bump off Zelensky, which might indeed happen, besides blaming the Russians it’s more likely they be thinking of a Diem scenario (or for that matter, the way Russia’s Entente “allies” hailed the “democratic” February Revolution setting the stage for American entry into WWI), imagining that new leadership could prosecute the war more effectively. Good luck with that…..

Presumably there is a legal chain of command if the president is ‘incapacitated’. The ability to sign treaties etc. would devolve to that person. Whether the legally defined succession candidate would go along with anything different to ‘more weapons and more cash handouts please’, remains to be seen.

With the slowdown of western support (even the hallowed Ukraine refugees are losing handouts and are being instructed to work), and the increasingly effective Russian advance, Zelensky must see the writing on the wall. Possibly the only safe place for him is near Tel Aviv close to his parents.

  46. tranquilocomp on July 25, 2022  ·  at 9:57 am EST/EDT

The linking of Jack Sullivan to this is wrong. If such a plan existed, someone like him (presidential adviser?) would be the ‘last’ to know. “They” might as well tell it to the whole world in that case, which he would now be doing. Did Gonzalo Lira go to high school in the U.S.? It’s my unfair test of knowledge. Sullivan would be in the “know” like, say, Nixon’s presidential aide Patrick J. Buchanan. Not. The U.S. government has absolutely no plans for doing any such thing…I watched a press conference of Milley and Austin. Both might get angry at the insinuation (properly). Milley and Austin would not know either. Biden would not approve (he might have an epiphany). Would Russia do it in a war? In that case, the term is challengeable. John Wilkes Booth assassinated Lincoln, but the war was still ongoing, although almost over, and it was done to change its result (this from his own writing). The Secretary of State was attacked the same night, and there was a plan to attack someone else important, but the accomplice changed his mind and did not. It’s not mentioned, but that’s what that attack – a desperate action – was mainly about. “Commanders in Chief” may be attacked by the war enemy, right? Lincoln was admonished many times by his security people to protect himself more. Could there be someone like Booth in Ukraine too? There are some similarities in the situation.

  52. Denis Saint Denis on July 25, 2022  ·  at 4:23 pm EST/EDT

The moment the Americans mentioned that they were afraid for ‘Zelensky’s safety’ was a dead giveaway that the Americans will soon eliminate him.

The other point worth considering is the CIA mentioning that there might be a bioweapons attack by the Chinese. This means, there will be another huge ‘pandemic’ in the U.S. probably just before the November mid-term elections so as to minimize the Democratic losses and maybe even turn the losses into ‘wins’. And, this pandemic will be blamed on the Chinese.

    We live in interesting times.

Will the Americans assassinate their own stooge, V. Zelensky, and then blame it on the Russians (i.e. stage a false flag attack)?

Well past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior.

And for the past several decades, the United States of America has demonstrated that it is quite capable of perpetrating False Flag terrorist attacks.

One of the best–though certainly not only–examples is a minor little event called the 9-11 “terrorist” attack….

I fail to see why a decapitated Ukraine automatically becomes Russia’s sole responsibility. Russia can annex territories that wish to belong to Russia and lend support to friendly territories that wish to be independent states. If what was formerly Ukraine descends into chaos, it is as much a threat to the rest of Europe as it is to Russia, if not more.

Also, I have my doubts that the US can pull off assassinating Zelensky and pinning the blame on Russia for more than two or three news cycles. The truth will inevitably leak out. It always does in such cases.

  60. DW on July 25, 2022  ·  at 10:04 pm EST/EDT

The idea is for Ukraine to become a failed state, for three reasons.

First, as a blow against Russia, a permanent aggravation on their border. Second, to destabilize Europe, as the American hold over it recedes. Third, to manufacture the great “white supremacist terror threat” that their narrative demands, but which does not currently exist.

I’m sure Zelensky’s death was in the works before he was even elected. Though I doubt they will assassinate him, rather they will just leave the door open for someone else.

I highly doubt that the Russians care one or the other that the US and their evil media will blame them for any assassination of Zelensky. As the Saker says, defeating Ukraine is not and has never been the end goal of Russia’s offensive there. Rather, the objective is and has always been the denazification and de-NATO-nisation of all of Europe. Losing Europe therefore and destroying NATO will considerably weaken the entire US controlled Western edifice and its global power projection thereof. Chaos or not in Ukraine, the assassination of Zelensky won’t deter Russia.

Gonzalo Lira’s thesis is very likely, but in my opinion Lavrov very quickly defused the threat with his speech in Africa, explaining that Russia does not need Zelensky and is ready to take charge of much of Ukraine, which cannot be denazified without territorial control. Message to Jack Sullivan: Your plans on Zelensky are completely irrelevant
