Russian media coverage of the crash victims of the metro-jet airbus in the Sinai reminds me very much of the kind of coverage that we saw in Russia before Putin’s decisive launch of the 2nd (and final) Chechen war. You couldn’t get the Russian public more unified and resolute than this.
Right now if I were an adversary of Russia, I’d be very very nervous. They (Russian leadership) seem to be laying the ground work for a very heavy shoe to drop if anything remotely close to foul play manifests in the coming days.
Given the the discipline of Russia’s leadership and the professionalism of their strategists, I believe it’ll be coldly ruthless and scheduled based on Russia’s agenda and not as a result of their adversary’s provocations..
Please bear in mind that this is most likely another provocation – designed to illicit an emotional response.
I expect a masterful chess move, there are so many weaknesses of the opponent to be exposed.

I agree with you in your comment. But I’m going to play “Devil’s Advocate” for a minute. Not do I in the least believe what I’m going to suggest. But I think if it comes out that ISIS (or someone they are connected with) do have a connection with the crash.I think the West is going to attack Putin for it.And the MSM with be leading the charge. As I recall just before the Chechen War there were the bombings in Russian cities. And that convinced Putin and the Russian public to go to war.The West “implied” (some down right said) that Putin did the bombings to get the people to support the war.I suspect they will try to blame him for this too (if it was an attack on the plane). They will say he did it to get the Russian people to demand full commitment to the war in Syria, including Russian troops.
Its too early to know for sure what happened with the plane. But if it was an attack, then Russians will demand retribution. And the MSM will need to spin that anyway they can against Putin.Which might be why, even if they “suspect” it was an attack, they would be reluctant to publicize that.
“But if it was an attack, then Russians will demand retribution.”
So if it does turn out to be an attack, what way will it be played. the Syrian situation is different to Chechnya.
Will the results be kept quiet and the response coldly calculated? Geo-politics comes into this whereas Chechnya was more domestic.
Looking at what information/evidence is available on the plane crash at the moment, it has similarities to other crashes involving failures of the tail section, but could also be caused by an explosion similar to the video. The video has not been debunked other than various claims that it is fake or old. The crash comes at a time when Saudi Qatar and US have been making threats and threats of repercussions.
A layout of the debris here https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CS0MnBDXAAA9Exg.png
Some unknown debris to start, then the tail section, a gap of a couple of kilometers then the wing /forward fuselage section. Fuselage between the tail section and wing seems to be missing.
What if the Russians institute a response the precludes the beligerents in the Terrorist sponsoring camp from doing exactly what you’ve stated? I’m sure the Russians are holding an archive of compromising material.
Or how about making an example of a leading MSM propaganda outlet’s owners and management. There are so many possibilities where Russia could prevent those governments and media organizations from engaging in this kind of direct support for terrorism; it all depends on how important this is to Putin and and how far he’s willing to go.
There is only one kind of response Russia make here. It does not matter if something was an accident or done on purpose. The response we see would remain the same for something that happened.. What we don’t see will change depending on what really happened. Since we are not going to know what really happened, it all makes no difference. When you trip and fall there is only one action.. Does not matter if the rug was pulled under you or you tripped.. The nail and hammer will need to be used.. There would be a lot of people standing around now that they saw you trip, to make sure you are nudged and slammed and pushed around. They would get the idea that you are disoriented and have no idea how to proceed from here. How resolute you are in the face of adversity is the only possible course of action to keep the wolves at bay.
Terrible political cartoon. It reinforces the maligning of snakes. No snake would ever tolerate the sort of zionazi/Jewish mafia depravity that the Ukraine lowered itself to. Snakes are principled beings.
Greetings from Russia! To the people who predict that the plane crash in the Sinai is being used to set the groundwork for a harsh response to Russia’s adversaries: I disagree. Here in Russia, the widely held belief is that the plane crashed due to a technical fault, and that no one except the airline company or bad luck is to blame. I have good reason to say this too, since a friend of a friend worked with this company and said that the planes were old and would often fly without flight crews having completed all the necessary pre-flight mechanical checks. The mood here is sad, not angry in any way.
Thanks for your insight regarding the mood in Russia and those people around you. You live there you speak the language, you know better than I what is happening in your environs.
Note 2 things:
(1)— if anything remotely close to foul play manifests in the coming days.
The operative word to note from my post is “if”. I, like you, don’t know anything for certain regarding the crash, I have my misgivings regarding the circumstances (and the penchant of certain terrorist sponsoring organizations in the West and Saudi-aligned states to victimize innocent air-travelers of countries that stand-up to them -thru the actions of their proxies).
I’ve also said before that I agree that it’s the right thing to do “tow/support” the official line that this was an accident (if in the case it really was due to terrorism, to deny the terrorists victory and allow the Russian leadership to conduct their anti-terrorism strategy unimpeded by public rage). And, of course, if it really does turn out to be an accident, even more so.
(2)—
Another thing I’d like to point out, the plane is not old: 18years is considered a little past mid-life.
As for the rest, you have better insight than I.
My condolences to you, the friends and acquaintences you mentioned, and to your country.
Thank you for the remarks, and the condolences. Yes, those are good points, and I think that you have strong basis for misgivings given the recent events in the Middle East.
Most Russians would not consider it “towing a line” to consider this crash to be an unfortunate accident. Generally, smaller Russian airlines (non-Aeroflot) do not have a great reputation here, due to a series of well-known accidents in the past 10 years. Some friends of mine opt for 1-2 day train trips, instead of flying between cities, for safety reasons.
As for rage against terrorist actions, yes there might be some of that should the investigation reveal that terrorists destroyed the aircraft. However, people in Russia are a bit de-sensitized to terrorism, due to wars in Chechnya, and attacks by terrorists on civilians. People here trust that government and military agencies will adequately deal with the perpetrators. Public opinion is, I think, less of a concern for the Russian government than conducting a proper investigation… Russia is not like a western country where an angry public could seriously affect government operations.

That is an absolutely correct assessment of the situation. I would have used the same words myself.
The filthy scum of NATO-GCC are in for a wild ride. They keep misjudging and underestimating Russia time and again.

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” Sir Walter Scott.
“But when we’ve practised quite a while
How vastly we improve our style!” J. R. Pope
cute poetry….oh what a tangled….sounds like Shakespeare…
Exactly!
Scott is more pedestrian:
The way was long the night was cold
The minstrel was infirm and old
