Hello Mr. Saker,

I have noticed in German media that they changed the pronounciation of Ukranian names:

Charkov / Charkiv, Luhansk / Lugansk etc.

Before the whole crisis, it was common in German media to use the Russian spelling. I even remember an old man without an arm who was a veteran of WWII and I asked him where he lost his arm and finally he told me: “In Kharkov”.

BTW, a study done a year or so after the zionazis attacked Iraq in 2003 on the amount of air time devoted to those opposed to the Iraq war crimes, found that the Boy’s Buggering Corporation (BBC – “the younger the better is our motto”) devoted even less time than CNN to opposition voices. How can one devote less time to decent human values than zionazi CNN? That is like being more to the zionazi right than freak Netanyahoo.

Well, I don’t know about the BBC, but the New York Times has just published an opinion piece that could have been written by Lavrov.

There is no mention of the US in the article but merely mentions the “West”. It insinuates that the US is not the prime mover in the Ukraine. The US has no need to negotiate with or appeal to the junta because it owns the junta lock, stock and barrel and runs it on a day to day basis.

I suggest this article by Mark at The Kremlin Stooge will be far more enlightening and better written, too!

If i recall right, it was a BBC journo that succeeded Jamie Shea as NATO mouthpiece after the 1999 war. No surprise there.

From a quick survey of Russian mainstream TV the “official narrative” (whose?) seems to be that there is an ongoing genocide against the peaceful citizens of Donbass (our brothers and sisters) being perpetrated by the Ukrainian government, Ukrainian president, Ukrainian army and Ukrainian oligarchs (yes, they keep saying “Ukrainian” like that…).

The hysteria is reminiscent of the Western demonization of “Putler”, but here it’s demonization of the ‘hohlov’ (Ukies) and of them ALONE. Watching Russian mainstream TV one really feels the anger rising that “something must be done about those hohlov filth!”. An example is Воскресный вечер с Владимиром Соловьевым (Channel VGTRK) with 7 war-mongering Russian TV pundits talking aggression and 1 sensible Novorossian blogger talking solutions.

What they NEVER say on Russian mainstream TV is that the thugs in Ukraine answer to foreign puppet-masters who want to steal the national resources (including shale gas) and exploit the country as a platform to eliminate Russia as a geopolitical obstacle, steal its vast oil and gas reserves, and kill off tens of millions of people. You would think that’s more alarming than, with all due respect, 1-2 thousand dead in Ukraine, most of whom anyway, according to reports, have been the NazGuard or Reich Sektor cannon-fodder of Kill-em-off-ski.

Man of the moment on Russian TV seems to be Dmitry Kiselëv, who fits this agitative template exactly, as do Channel 1 and others. (Admittedly I don’t watch much, but what I have seen all fits). It matches the analysis of Evgeny Fedorov that the mass-media in Russia is intentionally stirring up trouble, while conversely every statement made by V.V.Putin is an intelligent and compassionate call for de-escalation, dialog and agreeable solutions.

The mass-media in Ukraine is of course filled with demonization too. Almost no-one is talking solutions. It really feels like someone is pulling strings on both sides to get the fight going for their own benefit.

So, Putin has to out-maneuvre the vultures and avoid both of these scenarios:

1) An intervention into Donbass which would set off hysteria in the west, followed by their placing of NATO forces in neighboring countries if not in Ukraine itself, and massively increased funding to the MIC (cui bono).

2) An ‘Orange Revolution’ (coup d´état) to remove “Putin the traitor” for his “inaction” while thousands of “peaceful citizens” are being slaughtered by those “Ukie monsters”, and replace him with either:
i. some Yeltsin 2.0 loser who “makes peace with the international community” (by selling out the country, its people and resources), or
ii. some Hitler 2.0 maniac who takes aggressive “action”, contributing to an even bigger mess.

If anyone has evidence of a more optimistic and truthful dynamic in the mass-media, I’m happy to consider it.

The fact that a standard distractive comment is posted under codename “Crossvader” calling Fedorov a “lunatic” who “needs to take his meds” could very well indicate that on the contrary he is dangerously close to the truth.

The Op-Ed by Charap has been buried by the Times… and it appeared in print only in the International Edition of the Times which probably has a readership of a few hundred people.

As for my critique, while it was not broad it was worthwhile just for a reader to understand the multiple double standards being promoted by the writer and to point out that if there was ever going to be any legitimate discourse with those in the east the election would not have taken place. Period.

So, yes there are a number of commenters who don’t understand what it is they are reading.

I agree, article by Charap in the NY Times is good. It´s still writen from western point of view, but it´s realistic and reasonable. It sounds as opinion of person trying to find solution.

While the bbc continues to reprint the lie that the Lugansk defenders misfired an AA missile and blew themslves up today, not only the OSCE admits that KIev used rockets from the air, but the actual Kiev regime is admitting that it fired 150 missiles from that jet upon Lugansk.
