I really love the BBC. Love to hate it, that is. They just posted an article about the fact that Russia will now demand pre-payment for the gas it will sell the Ukraine which concluded with this great sentence:
There is a danger for EU nations that Ukraine will start taking the gas Russia had earmarked for its European clients, something it did when it was cut off from Russian gas during previous disputes in 2006 and 2009.
Wouldn’t they make Psaki proud? Instead of writing that the Ukraine will start robbing, hijacking, siphoning-off, stealing, diverting, embezzling, plundering, looting or misappropriating the gas Russia is selling to the EU, they wrote “taking”.
As if the energy market was some kind of all-u-can eat buffet where each guest is invited to help himself to whatever he wants.
There is a gang of Nazi thugs in Kiev who came to power by an illegal armed insurrection, they are massacring civilians using what counts for a military in their pathetic Banderastan, and this gang of thugs and freaks is about to rob the EU from gas the EU has paid top-Euros for, and the BBC calls it “taking”.
I really love to hate them.
Good nite,
The Saker
Good summary of the last Ukrainian events:
http://www.sott.net/article/279274-Welcome-to-Nulandistan-A-multimedia-look-at-the-hell-the-US-and-EU-have-unleashed-on-Ukraine
“What they considered the most important part of the request was the body armor, night vision devices and secure digital radios,” said Philip Karber, a former strategy adviser to Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger. “They are going up against highly trained Russian Spetznas forces and snipers who are equipped with those items. If you ask anyone who has served in combat they will tell you the Ukrainian forces will be half as effective as the far better equipped Russians.”
If that were true, the number of casualties amongst the Ukrainian ‘military’ would be staggering…, they are not…
Modi is not a fascist, and his election is a very positive indication that India is moving towards better governance. His regime in Gujarat was characterised by a surprising lack of corruption – in very marked contrast to the situation in Congress Party states.
The one episode where he cracked down on a group of very destructive Muslim fanatics was entirely justified; I am neither Muslim nor Hindu and what Modi did was the bare minimum to re-establish the general weal.
The Saker, something funny to publish on your blog just to make a break.

Interesting paragraph from that International Business Times article – on its face – but read the whole thing and you have to wonder what planet its author inhabits. He lists all the major powers blocks and a few of their major constituents + Pakistan, and posits improving – not to say idylic – relations with all of them. naive is the most charitable description IMO.

I have no idea about the credibility of the information but it is really well documented.

Greetings from Singapore:
Kiev forces lost 650 soldiers (incl. 70 foreign mercenaries) in Eastern Ukraine during last 10 days – Ponomarev http://itar-tass.com
Glory to the new eastern republics!
money and numbers do NOT equate to POWER, no matter the propaganda, ego and chutzpah
It’s funny how the socalled mainstream media can turn some obvious fact on its head and state it so blandly it must be truth.
What do you make of this bizarre story that the ‘green men’ in the eastern Ukraine are commanded by a gherkin from Moscow who drives around inconspicuously in a black mercedes, which the western Ukrainians don’t notice?
Girkin
Modi will be good for indo Russian relation.
Modi is a strong man unlike weakling sikh traitor mm singh the unelected Pm for last 10 years .
Two news items.
Strelkov vs. Ukrainians 11 rebel casualties vs. 650 for Kiev forces May 2 to May 12. Not sure how believeable the Ukrainian loss numbers are, but if they are anywhere close to true, they might explain the hesitancy of the Kiev junta forces.
http://russian.rt.com/article/32297
Also reports total equipment losses for Kiev of 8 helicopters (5 more than previously admitted by Kiev), 6 APC’s, 4 BMD’s, 3 D-30’s.
Also, Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest has signed a memorandum of understanding with Donetsk Republic concerning the security of Mariupol, which will now be undertaken by Metinvest forces.
http://www.metinvestholding.com/ru/press/news/show/2923
http://pressimus.com/Interpreter_Mag/press/2797
This is being distorted in the foreign press (such as the NY Times as noted by Graham Phillips on Twitter yesterday) as Metinvest routing the rebels out of Mariupol. Instead, Donetsk Republic signed this MOU with Metinvest apart from Kiev and together issued a list of demands to Kiev to remove the military from the area as they had established peace in Mariupol on their own (and I would note in accodance with the process laid down in the Geneva Accords).
Also, it is being reported that the Donetsk Republic’s proposed constitution enshrines the beginning of life and human rights at conception, and gives prominence of position in society to the Russian Orthodox Church.

The MOU is a bullshit. Listen to the interviews with local people of Graham Phillips on his Twitter.
The same oligarchs, the same local authorities, the same police, the same thugs at power on every level, the same corruption networks! Nothing’s changed.
The Zio-Indian alliance – neo-Nazi/Fascism in the present day context does not necessarily mean being anti-Jewish – but it is about the racist notion of purity in relation to the “other.” In the case of Modi/BJP/RSS etc. that “other” is Muslim. We know that one of the fav. books read by the RSSists is Mein Kempf – not because of its anti-Jewishness, but because of its “strong man” fascism – that the Zio-Indian yearns for.

The Saker,
I know it’s weekend time but there are things which can’t wait.
Poignant example:
Игорь Стрелков: граждане Донецкой республики, вставайте на защиту своей Родины (видео)
http://rusvesna.su/news/1400342995
Igor Strelkov: Citizens of Donetskoy respubliki, rise to defend your motherland (video)
We (readers), you, me badly need transcription and translation of what was said by Igor Strelkov!
I do not know Russian enough. From one of the commenters there:
Sergei Loginov
note what he gave in this statement:
1. He showed the world that not whole Donbass support them,
2. The enemy knows that he has difficulties with human resources
Dear All,
Recently a pro-Kiev oligarch Akhmetov have taken power in Mauripol.
Do you think this may harm the interests of pro-federalists in Eastern and South Ukraine ?
I would welcome all of your comments.
Take care

the BBC was going down hill before the Iraq war but accelerated rapidly to the very bottom after the Iraq war. There it remains.
A thoroughly disgusting organization filled with odd entities.
It should be raised to the ground and the employees bound and shackled and publicly humiliated.
And now trouble in the west. Hungarians and Rusyns pushing for autonomy in Transcarpathia and maybe more.

Dear Anonymous “Any thoughts about this?”. Pretty much any reporting to influence opinions can be considered as propaganda no matter the source. So when talking about stuff with friends probably better to point at inconsistencies, contradictions, stupidities that can be found in the same article, like currently discussed. Also to look how the “facts” logically connected. Follow the money more than amount of it.
I think the MOU document is not bullshit. Yes it is about the same power and control but it reflects a recognition that Ukraine has failed as a state. Now we will see a devolution from national to local wherein the major economic value add seeks to integrate vertically so that, as used to happen in Soviet times the employer provided most of the civic services to the community around them.
That is important now because if there is no longer a state the industry needs to be able to defend itself, mobilise resources and provide the basic needs of the people working in the business.
I bet that this simple truth was pointed out to the leaders of the anti-Kyiv movement in the region and that they went along with the idea because it makes the most sense.
Akhmetov won’t last five months under Russian rule. Under the EU/IMF he will be forced to sell it in order to raise money for the IMF loan repayments, whether the biz is nationalised first or he just gets a payoff and invited to go live in Monaco in luxury for the rest of his life.
In the end, power is power. I get the feeling that Akhmetov is not the worst of the bunch and he seems to be taking a constructive view of his options.
Now we will see Ukraine as Game of Thrones.

The Saker,
I listened once more to Strielkov’s statement. It’s very bitter, despondent and sad.
He asked among others – Where are those 27 thousands volunteers, the journalists wrote?
But writing to you I hoped you would make a scoop of a day – stop the presses, nearly.
The Strielkov’s statement appeared as a horoscope in n-th page on comments columns after 4-5 hours.
Your blog, what about your readers?
Igor Strielkov once more!
There is new text:
http://rusvesna.su/news/1400361649
Игорь Стрелков: я уверен в победе, но без усилий ее не будет
Title translation – “I am confident of victory, but without efforts it will not happen”
Text translation:
Comments to the video address to the citizens of Donetsk Republic.
“Now as for my statement. It is not a consequence of the passive or discouragement. Just the opposite. I’m trying to stir up those patriots, who, having heard “victorious words” and not seeing any National Guardsman (they are all around us covering up) actually decided that “victory already in the pocket” and just have her to patiently wait without missing gains on home street, or at the office.
I just have to tell them the truth! To say that without the efforts, no shit, this victory will not occur, and even if we appeared victorious it would bring more victims than those that it would have brought if we forced themselves for the efforts at present.
I believe in the victory for sure. So pathetic-lying ukry (Ukrainians, Ukries – anon) and their leaders, their propaganda, which their defeat is inevitable – they deceive yourself – and with such a burden it is impossible to win…
The only question is in those victims that we’ll have to suffer, putting off the necessary efforts for longer time and putting instead the hopes “in maybes”. “Maybe Putin will plant invasion”, “Maybe a new Maidan will happen”, etc.
There will be no new Maidan – that’s for sure. And if there was such event new protestants would be instantly announced “agents of Moscow”, and suppress like cockroaches. Or, using other option – we would by fried as Odessa activists. And the West would, what understand, close their eyes”.
/Translation: yandex plus my corrections/
I just came across this website called Euromaidan PR
I think the CIA has been helping Kiev to bolster their image and put “evidence” out there to show the world how the bad Russians are interfering in Eastern Ukraine!
Speaking of the media..
After I’d translated your brilliant (and spot-on) analysis of why Putin wasn’t going to “invade” Ukraine, a web magazine in Serbia (Novi Standard) that runs my stuff from time to time picked it up immediately. Its editor later wrote that “in just a day and a half, the article was read by tens of thousands of visitors”.
After he wrote a Victory Day editorial inspired by your piece, the site went down. Hard. And remained offline for a week, till they could restore it from backup. It was a massive DDOS attack, so big it probably exceeded the capabilities of the junta currently ruling Serbia on behalf of the Empire.
Not leaping to any conclusions, but…
This seems to either confirm strelkov’s assertions on casualty figures or at least show that there is an attempt by either side to minimize their losses.
DMITRY TYMCHUK: Tonight terrorists preparing to withdraw special cargo into Russia.
Posted on May 18, 2014 by tilamuse
Dmitry Tymchuk, Coordinator, Information Resistance
05.17.2014
Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine
According to the Information Resistance group, tonight terrorists are preparing to withdraw convoys with special cargo from the territory of Ukraine into the territory of Russia.
In particular, they will remove the dead bodies of terrorists killed in armed clashes with Ukrainian law-enforcers. There are several hundred corpses.
According to our data, the passage of convoys of corpses across the State border is planned for the Luhansk Oblast [region].
Earlier, during withdrawals after clashes with security forces, terrorists have always sought to take the bodies of the dead terrorists with them–to avoid their identification as citizens of Russia and members of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

Dusty, the Saker works at random during weekend, no discussion is possible.
From my historical point of view (e.g. Solidarity movement in Poland and Martial Law with Polish army tanks on streets) any civil-patrols together with militia/police/gestapo (local secret police) is concocted to quell independence/freedom(s) of civilians/denizens.
My point of view that MOU is a bullshit was proved by another blogger:
http://arbaletfire.livejournal.com/2
Quote (after yandex translation and my corrections):
At this time (12:30 GMT) lull. In Donetsk until all is quiet.
(13:30 GMT) Sorry missed: Renat Akhmetov left the Donetsk region, he is trying to organize in Donetsk squad of loyal employees of their enterprises, and he also puts pressure on those in doubt of threats of firing workers, like those in Mariupol.
Before leaving, increased security, and distributed new machines, included mercenaries in protection squads.
Gave the order to shoot at people to death when they try to invade its territory.
He called separatists denizens of Donetsk who are against Kiev junta which should be destroyed.
The geek-capitalist set up protection comprise of six gunmen for his mother house. Akhmetov organizes with the support of some of the regionals a counterrevolution, he does not need any DND, neither Novorosia, he needs vassals and slaves in his personal state.
Upon receipt of information and opportunities summary will be updated.
Dear Saker,
I constantly read your blog and very much value your oppinion and in many cases find out news from your posts.
When in Ukrain there is a timely status Quo meaning everybody is standing on own positions and not much movement it turns to me that Anglo-Sionists shifted their attantion to Siria again. What is going on there? Are you planning a seperate blog about Siria situation.
My view Ukraine, Siria, Iran are in the same row of same parties (USA and Russia) only in different parts of the world.
Thanks in advance.
Well, for all those guys, Ukrainian I guess, very concerned about the message of Streilkov to the population:
It is true, not only in war but in life in general, that is better to rely only on our own forces. It makes no sense to expect what might happen or be thinking about what could have been but was not.
In a situation where freedom and our life is at stake, fighting like lions, with all our strenght, is the only option.
If after, some help arrives, will be welcome, but it is better not to regret, for years or decades, have stayed at home waiting for a savior that never came.
Health and much strength to fight Fascio. May God bless you.
Here, in Spain, everyone is focused in the election campaign for the European Parliament.
As of May 25, I hope, there may be changes. For the first time the resulting parliament will elect the president of the European Commission, the executive body of the EU.
I hope Alexis Tsipras, after the expected rise on the left.
I also hope that the population comes finally to the streets to protest against the nazi government in Kiev, as it diid with other past wars.
have you noticed how when some plane crashed it is always described in the western media as “russian built antonov” or “russian built tupolev”, or whatever…when some western built plane crashed it is never described as “american built boeing” or “france built airbus”…it is a subtle of way of undermining russia and portray russia as a lesser nation…
http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/at-least-24-servicemen-killed-during-ukraines-anti-terrorist-operation-348075.html
Kyivpost counts 24 Ukrainian dead. Interestingly, a very large number are officers, and very few are privates.
That seems like an odd kill ratio, and suggests the government may be minimizing casualties among the troops.
For all of the ammunition and heavy arms being shot off in East Ukraine, the number of reported dead is extremely low. Hard to believe.

http://www.vesti.ru/videos?vid=onair
Rossiya 24 TV channel screened meeting in Donetsk in support of People’s Republic of Donietsk (PRD).
There were 100-200 people!
Tragic, pathetic, sad, lamentable!
What and who would Russia have liberated?
The sad picture of Eastern Ukraine is emerging in social media on daily basis. Only titles in RT.com and other Russian Internet media sounds bellicose, proudly and victorious.
If Kiev regime set up second front like Soviets during WW2 (those who turned back from first front were killed on spot by the “political security” front in a back) the few town of PRD would be taken in a few hours using only Right Sector, National Guard and mercenaries.
The whole picture of the Southern-Eastern Ukraine events is bleak and deary for me, at least.
I am deeply sorry but I do not believe now that even 9/11 sort of events with several thousand dead moved PRD people to the barricades. Do the need it? Really?
But Igor Strielkov said about that in his statement and his comments to that statement. See my earlier comments.
Igor Strelkov’s statement stirred up a lot of people!
http://rusvesna.su/news/1400421115
/yandex translation + corrections/
Alexander Rogers on the statement of Igor strelkov: many volunteers willing to join the ranks of the army DND (video included)
On 18 may at the information centre of the South-Eastern front” held a Skype-interview from Lugansk with a journalist Alexander Rogers.
“The statement of Igor Strelkov stirred up a lot of people, ” said Alexander Rogers. – Well, at best he not quite understand the situation inside. When he made the statement that the militia can’t take all volunteers, he did it because he had no weapons. But now -just because confiscated weapons from “prosekov” (Right Sector) and so on. What I want to say that this information is out of date and now acquisition of volunteers can go on without constraints”.
Another UN whitewash-cum-victim-blaming faux report from Navi Pillay and the Ministry of Human Wrongs. I fully expect the propaganda from western msm to be complete distortions of reality, but this is much worse, much more insidious imo, as it comes from a supposedly neutral international agency. Not that the subversion and co-opting of such agencies is news to anyone here, but this particular report really struck a nerve with me. So transparently one-sided, so lacking in even the appearance of an honest attempt to catalog the litany of crimes in Ukraine it beggars belief. The worst part is how it will be used to “prove” how terribly terrorist those “pro-russian separatists” in the east are, and how this information will be swallowed up by the gullible and uninformed. Criminal.
