Dear friends
I am very sorry to report that I might be unable to work on the blog for a few days due to an approaching weather system which could be anything from a depression to a hurricane. The meteorologist in this video explains why at this point the exact label we give Nicole (yes, it already has name) does not matter. What matters is this: yet again, most of Florida will be facing major impacts, especially the East coastline. Just listen to this guy explain this:
And as luck would have it, my family and I have relocated from inland to a friend’s house which is… (drum-roll) …on a barrier island on the Atlantic shore! So we might be evacuated and even if we are not, we might lose power for a while.
Nicole will affect Florida for at least 5, possibly 6 days and if the current cones are correct, and I believe that they are, our location will be affected for the full time Nicole will stay over Florida.
One thing which happened during Hurricane Ian and which might well happen again is that most people rely on cellphones since the landlines are down. And while the cell-towers themselves have no damage, they are overwhelmed by phone traffic. As a result, even cellphone communications can be compromised.
The last ditch option is still the SMS which I cannot use for the blog.
Anyway, all this is to say two things:
If you are in Florida, please watch the video above and prepare for yet another potential disaster (and hope it does not happen, of course)
And to all of you, please be aware that I might not be able to work on the blog or even be reachable for as much as a week. I am very sorry about that, especially with all the stuff going on, but all I can do at this point is pray and hope for the best.
Kind regards to all
Andrei
Hi Dear Andrei – so sorry to hear of your woes…maybe it will just pass over and be a nice breeze – I’m hoping for you
Take care
thanks ann!!
Stay Safe!
Stay safe, you and your family Andrei.
Dig in and please hope its not another bad one.
Florida seems to be in as bad shape as Ukraine.
Best of luck.
Dear Saker
Sorry and concerned to hear of your predicament. Too much is happening and very strangely I might add to.
I’m reminded of the Old Testament the ancient Hebrews were very attune to the ways of God so much so in fact that whenever some misfortune befell the nation there was a nation wide turning to God for answers and relief. The Shofar was blown and a call for repentance went out to one and all. Today however, this is replaced by military aircraft pouring whatever it is they are pouring into the atmosphere to stop climate change. If as the scriptures teach climate change is the work of God it raises some very serious questions about our nations and societies and what pray tell is really going on? I know for myself living in a community I often wonder too myself about all my neighbors and do they fear God as I fear God or do they just live as they wish committing every sin unimaginable? Yikes, to that I say thinking back to Abraham and especially Lot? Here a video by Paul Watson which sent me to shivers about what some are doing for sexual pleasure? https://youtu.be/gK_0Yo-0r08
They talk all they want about God being a loving, merciful God but at some point we do come to this:
“The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.” {Nahum 1:3}
what more can i say except think on these things and be prepared.
Hi Andrei… I’m southern Fl atlantic. I watched part of that link already, turned it off. Here’s what I have used past 4 years despite having over 100 Navy, Military, University hurricane sites bookmarked, this is one-stop shopping.
http://www.tropicaltidbits.com The whole bay from West Palm up to Carolinas is going to get kicked with very strong Nor’Easterlies pushing water up low lying areas. ie Coastal flooding.
Wow. That’s a great website and I don’t live in Florida. I have a sister in NC and will share this. Watched the video and checked the bloggers credentials.
I have been tracking tropical cyclones closely since 2002, have a Ph.D. in meteorology from Florida State University, and am a certified tropical cyclone forecaster at the Joint Typhoon Warning Center.
Be safe, Andrei.
God Bless and Protect You Mr Andrei.
Take cover and survive it, you and your family! Then go for the possible! I want to see you back, not destroyed.
Ahh…, another one! I moved to the Florida Panhandle in 2010 and bought a sailboat for my dwelling. Three major storms forced me to evacuate upriver to a ‘hidey-hole’ the local fishermen use to shelter from a storm. All these events were life and boat threatening and resulted in various degrees of damage, with Hurricane Michael being the worst.
It appears that Nicole will just brush us on its way to the Carolinas, but we never know. I will prepare to evacuate.
I will pray a lot for you, you are a brave and very valuable man as well as very intelligent and fearful of the Lord. In my Church we have a wooden carving of Christ, of the Christ of Peace. I will ask him to give you courage and strength.
Health
Andrei,
Wishing you and your family the best brother. I hope the typhoon stays off shore. God bless.
-Jamie
. . . And I can hear the warning signs
Running around my mind . . . Oasis
Wouldn’t it be better just to move Andrei, say to Asia, the new land of milk and honey? The US will go through a 2 – 3 decade transformation, a coming-of-age adjustment, however, before it gets there, things getting a lot uglier before they get better. A lot of butt-hurt crazies will be pointing fingers at people like you reading from the scriptures, pointing out the futility of the Empire’s war on Russia.
Just as Gonzalo receives his passport back in Kharkov, Andrei in Florida is issued with an undesirable’s ankle bracelet. Wouldn’t that be ironic? Na, not really, nothing surprises me coming out of La-la land.
PS You must be close to where those 3 men in a boat set off from to overthrow the Venezuelan government.
