Thanks to the superb work of the Russian Team, it is my huge pleasure to present you with one of the most interesting interviews about the war in the Ukraine and the global struggle for the future of the planet and the views of one of the best informed men in Russia: Sergei Glaziev.
Glaziev is an advisor to President Putin and a close friend. I personally believe that the western media is either wrong or deliberately lying when then say that Dugin is Putin’s ideological mentor. I am not sure that Putin has – or needs – any kind of mentor, but over the years I have found that Glaziev seems to say out loud what Putin does not, but seems to be acting on.
Glaziev, who was born in the Ukraine and who is an economic himself, has a superb understanding of the behind-the-scenes power plays in the Ukraine and in Russia. This man really *knows* what is going on. Furthermore, he is one of the leading “Eurasian Sovereignists” and he is therefore absolutely hated by the pro-US circles in Russia. He is equally hated in the USA who put him on their recent sanctions list for no other reason then the fact that they don’t like what he has to say.
I urge everybody to listen to this 15min interview which is one of the most interesting ones I have ever had the pleasure to post here.
Enjoy!

News from China’s PLA.
China did a second test in seven months of their Hypersonic Strategic Missile. This gives them a delivery system that helps preserve the MAD value of their small nuclear force. They only have 250 nukes, a tiny amount compared to US and Russia.
Now they have one more weapon in the toolkit to keep the Hegemon from a first strike scenario.
Russia is working to get one built, but is far behind in this form of weapon.
The Hypersonic Glide Vehicle and the space laser weapons China has, plus the land-based carrier killer missiles they have had since 2006 are great counter balance to the Hegemon’s overwhelming strengths.
One of the reasons Russia is under attack in the proto war in Ukraine and with sanctions from the EU and US is Russia is years behind in some military and science areas. Luckily, not behind in all weapon systems, or Russia would be overwhelmed. But she is playing catchup in a few critical technologies.
Now, as Glaziev points out, on-shoring the high technology projects and developing everything they need for themselves is imperative.
Until they get it done over the next five or six years, China is swaggering its advantages under the spying eyes of the Hegemon. China and Russia need one another for many more decades.
The US has seen its last victory a long time ago. And it will not have another in the sphere of military conflict. It’s only option is to shed its satanic leadership and evil practices.
Of course, if Europe marches into war as the possible sacrificial cannon fodder for the Hegemon, then the US could chew up enough of Russia to set it back in a vicious sacrificial war. Russia must declare that the Hegemon, not just its colonies, will suffer. Proxy war should be treated as war with the source of the marching orders.
The world needs a Putin Doctrine as it relates to the defense of Russia. Not a threat. Merely, a clear understanding that Russia will take down the source. That will change the conversation.
You can see China is acting on what it needs to and talking clearly, directly to, with, and at the US military, when they meet in China and in the US. They would be overwhelmed by the US, except that the US would be devastated in return.
China also does not talk about partners with its adversaries. It’s language is more calculated. Russia keeps talking like it wants and needs partners. This translation in the West is sucker talk. The corporations are their partners, not the governments of the West. Exxon is a partner.
The US is an avowed Hegemon determined to rule the globe standing over Russia’s dead body.
Found this from a reliable source in Zero Hedge:
This news just came across on a very reliable Canadian Twitter Feed. It caught my attention because just two days ago the same Twitter account linked a video speech given by Russian Speaking and Hungarian Speaking representitives of the local government there. In the dual language speech. it was made clear that this Trans-Carpathian region of Ukraine would no longer send it’s young men to Kiev’s military draft call up. Mentioning that 100 local boys are already listed as killed in combat, with Kiev demanding 80,000 local young men report for the war!
They went on to declare Kiev a fascist state with no right to rule, and that as of two days ago, Trans-Carpathia will NOT accept dictates or secret police attacks from Kiev.

So, Kiev is going to fight a war on two fronts?
This interview is of historic importance, for not only as an advisor to Putin does Sergei Glazyev clarify the logic behind much of Putin’s actions, he shows a superior historical understanding.
He is the first to put new technologies in a central place in his historical analysis.
He also understands this as a major transition from America to Asia in terms of capital accumulation.
Underscores that this new phase is pro world development and against the trend of increasing impoverishment.
Thank you it is clear where the international brains of the world are sitting and it is not in the capitals of the West

yeah, some guys just steal our time, we still feel obliged to read their crap
If Russians want to be understood in Western Europe, using “anti nazi” and “anti fascist” rhetoric, which comes from the soviet propaganda arsenal, well, it’s gonna be hard.
Nazism led by the jew Poroshenko ?
Speaking of Katyn, the place where USSR murdered the polish intelligentsia and blame Ukrainians ?
Playing the Babi Yar card on those “poor jews” who, 5 years before, organized Hodolomor along with NKVD ?
Definitely, Moscow is not talking to other parties, thinking others think the way she does. This is the main obstacle in their propaganda machine. Russia Today is performing the same.
The fact is the only ones who support Russia in Europe are far right militants.
Deal with it.
I also was not too impressed. Hard to find much to agree with. Going through the topics in the order they were raised:
War doesn’t drive technology advance. It drives the advance of production processes, industrialisation and economic development. Health advantages are driven by data management, not by new molecules.
The US has no great conspiracy (pace a lot of posters). The cock up theory of history applies, with the help of a few idealistic neo-cons, a massive arms lobby and weak President/strong CIA and rogue institutions. (When did Obama find the truth about MH17? Quite recently is my guess).
If there is a long view in the US, it is to subjugate China, and not push it towards Russia or elsewhere. Russia, economically really isn’t that important in the world – except that Putin keeps on getting the major issues right and the EU (+US) keeps getting them wrong (Putin can address the issues, the US addresses its elections).
Ukraine lost its sovereignty when it went broke. Not to the EU – but to whoever ends up picking up the tab. Ideally that would have been Russia (I bet Crimeans are happy right now). But most likely it will be an IMF/EU combination.
This is not the work of Poroshenko, this is the result of the last 10 years.
I’m trying to think of the last time the west backed a government in power that was attacking its own people. S America I guess. Israel but that started long before. The west (I mean the employed diplomats) must be hugely embarrassed by what they see in Ukraine. The Russian convoy is a great reminder that a) relief is necessary, and b) that the Ukraine government it is backing is not providing relief and in fact is the cause. The map shown of an ever decreasing separatist area under fire is a powerful icon.
The press may not have caught on, but you can be sure that western leaders (who all need re-election at some point) need to stop the impression that map gives.
(I know many on this site are entrapped in a ziofascist conspiracy world. That is just imagination and paranoia).
Yes the Ukrainians are fascist criminals, but there is a logic to it all. Every time the US talks of de-escalating the conflict, the Junta hears the word “partition”. And that is a call to escalate the ethnic cleansing and to squeeze the borders to make East Ukraine as small as possible.
And yes the EU will suffer financially from the sanctions, but he exaggerates. The real cost will be the Ukraine bail out.
The ridiculous anti-Russian rhetoric in the press needs to be considered separately to the much milder views of political leaders. For example, the banks of London have consistently ignored the nonsense written in the papers about Russia over the past 15 years. They know how our press is influenced by exiled oligarchs and CIA mischief. Government leaders know this too. They even know who shot down the MH17 – pity they won’t tell.
Yes western voters are getting more sceptical of the lies they are told and yes Russia should continue to tell the truth. Pity he got his facts wrong on Katyn while saying that.

The saga of The Guardian’s Ukraine coverage is the perfect epitaph for the EU . . . and the cowards, traitors, neoliberals and neofascists of the current European power generation . . . along with their sycophantic, passive, capitalist constituencies. However a new world is coming. Resource shortages and economic transformation will require either a commitment in the direction of state capitalism, socialist/communist ideals and peaceful cooperation among nations. Or death.

While there are many fallacies contained within your comment, the final one is the final nail in it.
The far-right ultra-nationalists have been leading the charge towards the oligarch funded ethnic cleansing campaigns of mass destruction. These campaigns have been consistently supported by the various neocon and Zionist factions globally with their MSM propaganda machines.
All you need to do is look at the Svaboda Party propaganda as well as the Right Sector/Legal Sector (Pravyy Sektor) militant campaigns that draw their “soldiers” from the EU and abroad. Noteworthy that Svaboda has their sights set and targeted on Belarus according to the latest entries…
http://pravyysektor.info/
http://www.svaboda.org/
Radio Svaboda – Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty
http://www.rferl.org
If you notice, the last url above is the CIA’s “Cold War” propaganda source and if you compare the content, most AP/Reuters/Kiv Post/etc MSM articles follw the scripts. Even the Wikipedia entry pulls no punches in who controls the flow of disinformation.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is a broadcaster funded by the U.S. government that provides “news, information, and analysis” to countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East “where the free flow of information is either banned by government authorities or not fully developed”.[3] RFE/RL is supervised by the Broadcasting Board of Governors, a bi-partisan federal agency overseeing all U.S. international broadcasting services.[4]
RFE/RL was headquartered at Englischer Garten in Munich, Germany, from 1949 to 1995. In 1995, the headquarters were moved to Prague in the Czech Republic. European operations have been significantly reduced since the end of the Cold War. In addition to the headquarters, the service maintains 20 local bureaus in countries throughout their broadcast region, as well as a corporate office in Washington, D.C. RFE/RL broadcasts in 28 languages[5] to 21 countries[6] including Armenia, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq.[7]

In other words, there is no shame in their game and to cover several comments above, aka: kill several turds with one bone, there is indeed a vast conspiracy and it is hidden in plain sight for all to see.
DumpHarper!
Thank you, Russian team! I’d say Glaziev certainly gets it re: the AZ Empire but I’m not so sure, ironically enough, about some of his economic points. He must be onto something though because, boyoboy, it sure brought out the naysayers! ;~)
Voss,
“Absolutely nothing destroys a country more than an extractive economy.” Yes. This is the flawed basis of capitalism, and what happened to Spain is the pluperfect example thereof. All those Native Americans died and/or were enslaved and died, and Spain sank within a hundred years.
But what on earth is a woman’s idea of a healthy economy? That phrase is really too silly to resent.

Damned if I know. Pollution? Prozac? Teevee? We’ve gotten fat, lazy and unthinking, and lost the initiative we’ve always been known for (sure kept the penchance for violence though). I’m going to sound like a real oldster here but Mr. Nora and I have said for some time now that it’s a good thing our parents are long-gone, bc they’d never recognize what we’ve become.
That is a really good interview with Segei Glaziev. You can tell that just from the opposition! Glaziev touches on a lot of crucial topics albeit briefly of necessity.
To see more what “Lisbon to Vladivostok” looks like, why it is such a threat to the PTB in London and New York and why they need to keep playing “divide and rule”, see my article Russia’s Real Threat to ‘The Powers That Be’
Dugin certainly not tool of empire, That honor is reserved to Surkov. I am not understanding why he is still in the position of power.
Glaziev is on same wave length with Dugin, but gets point across a lot better. Both man think RF need to act early before Nazis grew strong. There is no reason threw out baby along with bath water. You take what you think is reasonable: The West hell bending trying to destroy RF, and others, and move on to find other ideas can complement. No reason for group think in this world. I like Dugin a lot better than Surkov, who in my view is bad for Putin and RF.
This comment has been removed by the author.
A very impressive interview. It is disturbing the various left-right nuts who came trolling out of the woodwork to attack him.
Glazyev’s Eurasianism is the sort of Eurasianism I support based on rational economic and military-strategic geopolitical analysis. This is not the mystical mixed up religious garbage put forward by Dugin.
On the economic questions raised by the marauding Trots with their primitive interpretation of Marx’s theory of value and misunderstandings of scientific revolutions. They are simply naive.
Remember Glazyev is a economic scholar and expert on Kondratieff the great Soviet economist who was purged by Stalin after the “Left turn” in the late twenties. This is why he uses Kondratieff’s analysis of long term capitalist economic cycles in looking at the current world economic crises.
The idiot Trot analysis of scientific revolutions requiring less labour and thus producing less value is not true. The initial stages are very labour intensive requiring a large highly educated “proletariat” with multiple scientific and technical degrees. As the new technologies progress productivity inevitably increases causing crises of overproduction. Capitalism has survived the 20th century by introducing multiple new technological revolutions.
The question is can the new technological revolution in biomedicine, biotechnology and nanotechnology stabilize managed capitalism in Russia and China to provide route forward, following the collapse of the evil empire, towards a future humanist socialism. I hope so.
Victory to Novorossiya!
The speech must have been important, or at least his ideas are, because we got a triple dose of trolls. Might be worthwhile for some of our allies in this fight who can understand Russian to try to post more videos of his thoughts on YouTube.
Baboo says
Nitpicking here; Though I am in agreement with Glaziev’s sentiment his wording at 2:28 is not true. Americans call WW11 “the good war” not a good war, a distinct difference. Continuing he notes, “It was good for Americans because they emerged from this war the world’s leader.” If this is an example of Slavic dry humor and thinly veiled anger fine but don’t fudge the data Sergei to make your point.
People are mixing up the Katyn Forest massacre of 1940, in which Polish officers were killed, with the Khatyn (Belarus) killings of spring 1943, when the inhabitants of the village by that name were herded into a barn by the 118th Schutzmannschaft Battalion and burned to death.
The one American fighting for the Donbass BN (pro-Kiev) was KIA yesterday, Vice News did an interview with him only 2 weeks ago. Nickname ‘Franko”. Seemed like a really nice guy, hate to see stuff like this, but it is a war, not a game.

Interesting that sober Ukraine analysis is coming from three knowledgeable sources:

The Liberal Delusions That Provoked Putin
http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/141769/john-j-mearsheimer/why-the-ukraine-crisis-is-the-wests-fault
By John J. Mearsheimer
Summary:
“The United States and its European allies now face a choice on Ukraine. They can continue their current policy, which will exacerbate hostilities with Russia and devastate Ukraine in the process — a scenario in which everyone would come out a loser. Or they can switch gears and work to create a prosperous but neutral Ukraine, one that does not threaten Russia and allows the West to repair its relations with Moscow. With that approach, all sides would win.”

Presents a game theory approach and shows that Finlandization is the only acceptable option. For those who would wish to punish Russia they feel that giving Ukraine to Russia would be an effective strategy.
(3)Podcast by Simon Black titled “Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori”
http://www.sovereignman.com/podcast/podcast-014-dulce-et-decorum-est-pro-patria-mori-14818/
Makes the case that Ukraine is a failed state facing inflation, economic contraction and much higher unemployment. As a regular visitor to Ukraine he ultimately sees Ukraine tipping into stagflation whereby the rich Ukrainians (and other vultures) can come in and pick the bones at fire sale prices (as in Serbia). Remember that about 50 oligarchs account for 85% of the Ukrainian GDP.
The Regime call for sacrifice by the people based of nationalist/fascist ideology finds a breeding ground in a destitute population. The latin title translates to “It is sweet and fitting to die for your country” Among the rabid fascists this message is like mainlining crack.
—
Fate of Ukraine – continued”
I personally fear that Ukraine serves a a perfect storm of converging EU, US, NATO, big energy, military industry and banking (IMF/World Bank) players. Each one sees Ukraine as a means to further their goals. In a way this represents the “Tragedy of the Commons” in that their different goals conflict and result in numerous negative feedback loops on their goals as well as the other players. All these linear thinkers fail to understand systems theory (see Peter Senge and the limits to growth group at the Club of Rome).
I can only hope the DPR and the LPR can hold on long enough for the Ukraine economy to collapse enough so that the various other non-fascist regions to also breakaway from Ukraine a the western players come to their senses and quit backing the fascists as warned by the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
This best case option will likely result in widescale ethnic cleansing throughout the rest of Ukraine as was the case in the de-findlandization of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia as discussed in “DISMANTLING YUGOSLAVIA, COLONIZING BOSNIA”
By Michel Chossudovsky and “White Hats and Blacks Hats in the Balkans: A Canadian Perspective”by Bob Allen
Professor of Economics University of British Columbia Vancouver, B.C. Canada V6T 1Z1 allen@econ.ubc.ca
The negative feedback loop of this would be a massive influx of refugees and radicals into the EU which would collapse their governments and ultimately damage the other Western players.
Sadly, Putin is the only sane system dynamics player in this bloody game and is unfortunately being ridiculed and browbeaten by the mass of Western linear thinkers who cannot see past their noses. The West may not be able to stop their destructive actions as it is based on what Joseph Campbell called underlying myths (the new frontier and the Zion on the hill). Likewise the fascist ideology of Western Ukraine and their seething hate reinforces this headlong plunge toward conflict with Russia.
It would be nice the delay the collapse of society for a few decades and have that collapse be a gentle catabolic collapse as discussed by John Michael Greer (http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com). I fear that overarching greed of the “masters of the Universe” will rule the day. Too bad they couldn’t be taken out/culled to improve society as Dr Sapolsky found when alpha males were killed off: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZcTvFqzxA0).

From the hill top where his post has been, he could watch the horror which changed his life.

(This is my first posting here – great job, Saker, on your efforts)
Michael Droy stated:
“The US has no great conspiracy (pace a lot of posters)”
Wow. Your statement is very revealing.
Anybody who does a little digging in the library (to keep it legit. We don’t want to give the Internet any legitimacy, now, do we!) can easily find much material to support the idea that there is, indeed, a “great conspiracy.”
Simply reading one of Zbigniew Brzezinski’s books will confirm that Big Thinkers and Elite Strategists in the USA have a Big Plan to subjugate Russia, China, and any possible threat to US hegemony! “
This is a mixture of paranoia and poor understanding of how US politics work. Big thinkers think. Prsidents ignore them and blunder on.
Too much paranoia on this site – it is a big turn off for those of us looking for a rational discussion.
@Commandante Null re:Transcript
You can go to youtube (via the button on the embedded video) and there click the third button from right in the menu below the view counter, which says “transcript”, and there you’ll find all the subtitles with time stamp ready to copy & paste. Well, I liked the interview with Glazyev, looks like a quiet and decent man, and what he proposes for the world seems the way to go, although I do not have the knowledge to know if it is possible. Even if we want to, and get rid of the accumulators of capital, certainly goes ahead.
What I see here is everyone talking about Dugin, almost all evil (satanic, crazy, incendiary, with an amazing mixture of Marxist, religious, Nationalists, even Nazis ideas… etc) there is only one person who thinks highly of him.
Well, it turns out that when I have been told ill of a person, especially if it is Russian, so my interest in it grows exponentially.
The other day I asked The Saker if I could make a summary of the movement where Dugin takes part along with others, but we know that he is a very busy and exhausted person that has much more important things to do than answer me.
So I’m on edge. I value your opinion and that of The Saker also but I like form my own opinion about things and people.
So, again, inaccesible to despondency, Russians friends and of the world in general, PLEASE, is it possible some subtitled video in English or French, or some statements, or interview, where I can get an idea of what Dugin thinks or intends?
I’m intrigued enough that some say it was the ideologue of Putin and now he is so demonized.
I can not believe that of all who speak of Dugin, right or wrong, no one has any good material for this curious Spanish….
Kind regards and thanks a lot in advance.
Paveway IV at MoA posted some verrry strange footage, from two miles away, of a supposed hit on that chemical plant in Donetsk. Very large shock wave, very strange smoke. Pray, folks; if that thing went up, the results are going to be catastrophic.

I forgot, thanks to the Russian team for the transcript. Good job!
I sincerely wish him good luck in coercing Russian oligarchs into investments in the national economy. They are as patriotic as the Greek merchant fleet owners or Starbuck’s for that matter. I believe right away the Ukrainian government does not include only girl and boy scouts. I agree the logical thing to do would be to cooperate economically from Lisbon to Wladiwostok. But on whose terms? Corporate rule? Czarist rule? More true democracy (Brussels and Moscow) and respect for the right of self determination (Crimea and Moldavia), are prerequisites. As long as they haven’t been fulfilled and this man’s analysis is as objective as at gets in the part of Europe closest to Waldiwostok, I’ll keep leaning to Lisbon.

People say lots of things. People claim to have been abducted by aliens but I need a bit more than that.
Compare how the Soviets dealt with Babi Yar and the Germans with Katyn. The latter was treated appropriately with the graves opened up, attempts made to identify the bodies and manner of death. In short a police investigation. The former – nada! Lets just take the Soviets word for it! Or maybe we should be more sceptical. In passing be it noted that air photography reveals no disturbance of the ground at Babi Yar as one might expect if tens of thousands had been buried there (and later exhumed and burned).
OT I would be genuinely interested if anyone could report a mass grave, investigated and confirmed as being the work of the German armed forces 1941-44. I am not aware of any such.
(In case you may be thinking that I have a dog in this fight I should point out that I am not German but English. Our view of the world is shaped by ‘truths’ which are too often myths and lies. MH17 may yet enter popular understanding as a ‘truth’ about Russian barbarity. At least today the internet via blogs such as this can challenge the presentation of ‘facts’ which the elites hand down to us)
Dugin is not an ideologue of Putin nor of vast majority of russians. That is a cliche that western media uses to radicalize Putin’s actions in the perception of the western society. Glaziev on the other hand is nothing like a man of theories or mystic, he uses rational way. He was the youngest economics professor in the history of the USSR and he clearly has deepest understanding of how both capitalistic and communistic economic systems act. He also is the supervisor of the Customs Union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus (the Eurasian Union is the upcoming stage based of that integration, EAU is starting in 2015) and the one who repeatedly stated that the russian Central Bank is conducted from US hence Russia is a colony of US at least financially.
Glaziev views apparently have influence on Putin, but the overall economy politicsin Russia during last 14 years had still remain neoliberal in many cases as in 90-s. a lot more common sense though and less freedom for oligarchs who used soviet infrastructure as their own, but the overall direction was: we want western investments in our economy but our exceeded oilmoney we use to keep in “ultra-safe” USA and EU debt obligues with 1-2% of income. So, the state didnt invest in production much by itself waiting for someone else.
The point is in some directions Glaziev was able to put his line through, but he has no ovewhelming role. Putin on other hand uses not only economical reasons in his acts but politics ones as well – IMO, he used to gain the overall state control after 90s anarchy in a very soft manner, only changing totally malfunctioning mechanisms in the state machine which initially was 200% neoliberal. But Ukrainian crisis urges him to materialize ideas of Sergei Glaziev more rapidly.
