It’s been discussed since the civil war first began last spring, but Ukraine might finally be on the verge of a legitimate people’s uprising against the government. The Color Revolutions in 2004 and 2014 were organized from abroad (despite the misleading mass media representation that they were popular movements) and aimed to achieve concrete geopolitical objectives on behalf of the West, thereby discrediting them as real grassroots actions and exposing their ulterior nature. Although Ukraine has thus far not experienced a single genuine (as in organized by Ukrainians and for Ukrainians) revolution to date, it doesn’t mean that one couldn’t be forthcoming, as all the proper ‘ingredients’ are currently in effect. Three recent developments indicate that the country is a lot closer to a real revolution than most observers might believe, and if the people take the initiative in seizing the opportunity in front of them, they might have a chance at reversing some of the regime’s most disastrous policies before it’s ultimately too late.
Book Banning
Kiev has taken the decision to ban a handful of books by certain Russian authors, notably the works of famous anti-Color Revolution crusader and historian Nikolai Starikov and presidential advisor Sergei Glaziev. These two individuals in particular have been extremely critical of the regime, and it appears as though Kiev views them as ideological threats to its rule. The book banning comes amid already existing political oppression against all dissident voices, be they politicians , the media , or even average citizen s. The authorities are plainly expressing that no counter-views will be tolerated under their rule, and that they seek to control the flow of information that the population receives. This can be read as nothing more than a fear of its own citizenry, since if Kiev and its representatives were secure in their rule, there wouldn’t be any need to be so authoritarian. The fact that they’re now taking the publicized and extreme step of banning a small number of books speaks to their heightened paranoia, which in turn can be read (pun intended) as the serious threat that they believe they face from the people. The thing is, it might not just be paranoia, but an objective reality that some elements of society and not just the Neo-Nazi battalions (albeit for their own separate reasons ) are getting ready to turn on Kiev.
Russian Food Embargo Threat
The latest news coming out of Moscow is that Medvedev announced that the counter-sanctions campaign “has been extended to Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein and, subject to special conditions, Ukraine”. Specifying matters, he warned that if Ukraine goes forward with the economic component of the EU Association Agreement expected to enter into force at the beginning of next year, its agricultural products would also come under the same restrictions. A ban on fruit and vegetable imports from last October already threatened to wipe out up to $51 million of market loss for Ukrainian producers, and expanding it to include all agricultural goods could be cataclysmic for the already crippled economy. According to Business New Europe , agriculture is the country’s largest industry right now (due mostly in part because of the manufacturing losses incurred from the War on Donbass) and the only one to show any growth last year, so if exports to Ukraine’s largest trading partner are cut off, then the consequences could very well be fatal for the country.
As an additional point on this topic, it must also be noted that it’s highly unlikely that Russian-destined exports could be reoriented to the EU, because domestic producers there are already howling in pain at the economic misery inflicted by Russia’s counter-sanctions against them and are heatedly competing amongst themselves in an oversaturated market. It would thus be a poor political move on the part of any EU government to prioritize Ukrainian agricultural products over their own producers’, even more so since the EU is suffering its worst dairy crisis in three decades and can’t possibly absorb any Ukrainian imports of this kind, for but one example.
If Ukraine can’t sell its products in the EU, then the excess that should have originally gone to Russia will stay in the domestic market and precipitate a rapid price collapse that could serve as a prelude to the sudden collapse of the entire agricultural industry. This would in turn affect the country’s capability to feed itself, meaning that more expensive foreign foodstuffs (probably GMO-laced products from the US) would have to be imported to meet the demand. With farming no longer a profitable venture for many by this point, farmland can be sold for bare-bottom prices to foreign companies (again, likely American, specifically Monsanto ), thus ushering in the complete foreign takeover of one of the most rich agricultural regions in the world. This calamitous scenario can be avoided, however, provided that Ukrainians take urgent action in changing their government before the end of the year, which leads to the final examined development.
The Committee For Salvation Of Ukraine
Last but not least, one of the most important, if underreported, aspects that could push Ukrainians towards a real revolution is the establishment of the Committee For Salvation Of Ukraine (CSU), essentially a government-in-exile based in Moscow. As the saying goes, “better late than never”, and it seems quite suited to this case. From what can be discerned, the CSU is the brainchild of former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, and although he’s not the leader (Vladimir Oleynik is), he seems to be running the show. Azarov promised that if it comes to power, the CSU will immediately hold new, free, and fair elections, but in order for this to happen , he “ask[s] all citizens, political parties, labor unions and social movements to unite and restore order in our home by joint efforts”. The point, it seems, is to unite civil society organizations and average citizens into a coordinated anti-government campaign, believing that it could prove to be the pivotal tipping point for the regime. Just about every observer would agree that Kiev would never relinquish power without a fight, but Azarov makes no mention of resorting to violence in the upcoming struggle, although it can be understood that this would be a logical response to harsh state suppression, should some of the participants so choose to react in this way.
Right now the CSU doesn’t seem to inspire much enthusiasm from anyone, but all of this could change with time. After all, the organization isn’t perfect (and much of its makeup and activity is still mysterious and undeclared), but it symbolically stands as the first realistic form of opposition to the Maidan government, and it’s helped by the fact that it’s based abroad and is thus safe from Kiev’s clutches. Most importantly at this point of time, however, is that the organization is likely building a network of supportive cells inside of Ukraine in order to construct a unified anti-government platform from which to challenge the state. This means that the CSU could essentially function as a coordinating committee in managing outreach campaigns across the country, public demonstrations (when the time is right), and perhaps after that, if they’re violently suppressed, even Hybrid War military operations as well. To speak on the protest part of the CSU’s assumed responsibilities and interests, if there ever was a perfect social environment to test Gene Sharp’s “ From Dictatorship To Democracy ” and “ There Are Realistic Alternatives ” protest theories, then it’s contemporary Ukraine, which is undoubtedly a dictatorship with a capital D. If a legitimate people’s revolution ever does occur in Ukraine, then it’s a sure bet that the CSU will have a leading role in it and will likely use the event to help catapult itself and its leadership from Moscow back to Kiev.
Concluding Thoughts
Never before has Ukraine been closer to a legitimate grassroots revolution than now. Many citizens were fearful of the new regime after the February 2014 coup, but not many of them outside of Crimea and Donbass publicly demonstrated against it. When they did, such as in Odessa in May of that year, they were horrifically killed and the perpetrators never brought to justice (purposely so). Some people, unsure of what they could individually do to resist the regime, decided to passively “give it a try” and see what it could ultimately do for their well-being. Nearly 18 months later, the Maidan authorities have done nothing except split the country with civil war, kill thousands of civilians, and crash the economy, and enough time has passed for their ridiculous ‘blame Russia’ tirade to grow stale and unbelievable among most of the population. The problems Ukraine has gotten itself into since the overthrow of Yanukovich are entirely of its new authorities’ making, and it seems as though some Ukrainians might finally be wising up to this, ergo why Kiev is making yet another paranoid push to suppress independent thought and go as far as outrageously banning a handful of books.
Average Ukrainians might be politically misled, but most of them are smart enough to realize that the country is falling apart in front of their eyes, and that it’s becoming ever more difficult to make simple ends meet. With Russia’s counter-sanction ultimatum to Ukraine, some of them might finally feel desperate enough to consider going against the government, despite being aware of the likely beat-down (or worse) that they’ll receive for doing so. Still, these individuals presumably lack a sense of organized direction, which is where the CSU comes in. It’s assumed that it wouldn’t have gone public had it not established some kind of shadow presence in Ukraine first, no matter how small, and one can draw the conclusion (using Azarov’s own words) that it’s in favor of mass anti-government activity and will do its best to support them. Building upon this logic and putting two and two together, the CSU could very well be organizing such a movement itself, gathering the disaffected segments of Ukrainian society to help engineer a regime change push before the year is over. If the Maidan authorities remain in power and don’t walk back the economic component of the EU Association Agreement by that time, then Ukraine will be plunged into an even deeper domestic crisis that might unwittingly turn Kiev’s regime change paranoia into a solid reality.
Hopefully so!Here is what a Ukrainian wrote today about the traitor Kravchuk.I couldn’t agree more:
“Political Carrion Kravchuk Mocks At The Donbass”
Dear compatriots!
The man, who himself was a communist, as well as crazy Farion from “Freedom” party, then betrayed all his ideals. And after that sold his people in Belovezhskaya Pushcha together with the alcoholic Yeltsin and mediocrity Shushkevich, killing great socially oriented Empire instead to reorganize it. Kravchuk, who gave the oligarchs free rein in Ukraine, is still in demand for traitors of our Motherland.
This political carrion openly declares his contempt for the Donbass region, its inhabitants, he mocks even at dead:
Humanism and universal tears about Donbass absolutely nothing will give to Ukraine /Kravchuk/
“All the talk about there our people live, that we need to help them somehow, must be removed from the agenda. This humanism and universal tears give absolutely nothing to Ukraine. Today, under the influence of Russia on this territory a cancerous tumor was formed. This tumor can be eliminated only through surgery and not otherwise.” — said Kravchuk.

I don’t tend to use such words, but this old geezer is clearly out of his mind.
And if it were his children, grandchildren, relatives who are killed? If it was he who was burned like Odessans?
How can one so mentally decompose to become such foul carrion!
And another good article from Ukrainians:
“I’ll Never Be A Ukrainian”
I put all my strength to permanently destroy and erase this ugly, false surrogate state of Ukraine!
Instead of trying to reach an agreement, we began to kill. They have called us separatists, not even trying to listen to us. They recorded all of us terrorists who can kill the glory of Ukraine. Appointed enemies on our own land!
We have identified dumb powerless slaves in their own country. And I look at some of the people around me and I understand. They took this role. And ready to be slaves, but everything was as before. If only there was no war …
Ukrainian Nazis, over the years, self-destroyed all the love and respect for Ukrainian traditions, language, culture and the state. These hateful shirts, Cossacks, Trypillians, Bandera and Shukhevych, concocted a false story.
This is ridiculous ugliness, which was slipped Russian, instead of this language, history and culture.
And we made it! We even made to feel guilty that we have not much love melodious MOV and Ukraine. Forced to feel guilty, because we are Russian. What we cling to our great past a great country which we are proud. What we shovels and trash.
We also stolen children. Zasrat their brains and turn them into soulless evil dolls. Now Russian children cry Glory to Ukraine and burnt people alive, taking it all on video, and laying out the network likes to score. Pain. Shame.
That evil is what has happened in recent months, can not be justified by anything. We ourselves have contributed to this, his cowardly non-resistance, indifference, hope that we are not affected.
His naive adolescent idealism, and suddenly feel better. And from this awareness to become rotten at heart. The blame for all their actions by Ukraine is on us. We need to take responsibility for themselves. And fixes everything that we’ve done.
No one but us to blame for this situation, neither Russia nor the West. And no one is going to save us from ourselves.
The only chance to survive and make a change lies with us. But we personally can choose their own destiny. Destroy the Nazis to destroy this state, destroy all those oligarchs, corrupt officials, politicians and the SBU. The only way to atone to God, history and future. And then we have a chance for salvation.
We are waiting for the terrible dark ages. It is inevitable. It is inevitable. And the stronger we will be in the Russian faith, the sooner we go through this hell called Ukraine.
Ukraine – it is ugly Chimera, which destroyed our lives. It turns us into brutes cowardly, and our children into mindless bloodthirsty bastards. It has no future.
Ukraine nourished the souls of the Russian people, their blood and labor, at the expense, she kept all these years. And now, in his agony, she tries to take away with them as much as possible of our lives.
If you speak Russian, you think in Russian, you are Russian, and no matter who your ancestors.
And the best you have one motherland – Russia! And most of all ashamed of the Russian, who shout Glory to Ukraine and believe that from this they became Ukrainians. No, you just become traitors.
Under the cries of Glory to Ukraine were burned alive and killed more than 50 people in Odessa. And this fire burned everything that connected me with the Ukrainians and Ukraine. For me, there is no longer the state of Ukraine.
I’ll never Ukrainian. I am Russian!
I put all my strength to permanently destroy and erase this ugly, false surrogate state of Ukraine!

Andrew, we appreciate your work, but the answer to your question is “no”. Uprisings, revolutions, coups, and such are based on power. If there were a power split in Kiev, sure, but we don’t see it. If power were to collapse, sure, but we don’t see that, either. That would happen if the NAF or Russian green men managed to smash the authorities in Kiev, but you have to smash things first. And it is entirely likely that the Ukraine was on the verge of an uprising, but the Kremlin didn’t want to support that early on, and now it is too late. A brutal government is now established, and was hardly functional after the coup. Lots of people pointed this issue out at the time, such as Glazyev. A few relatively small groups of retired green men and proper bribes could have led to an uprising, as long as the people thought the Kremlin would back them. That is why things played out the way they did in the Donbass. They thought Russia had their back. Who in Odessa would be crazy enough to rebel at this point? Almost all the rebels are in prison or moved to Russia or are in the NAF I bet.
And governments-in-exile are supposed to have an army to take them to power. The NAF seems to be too small for that. Besides, they are not figures that people can really get behind, so the main motive to support them is that they are going to be put in power. That is why someone would back them. But this gets us back to the issue that you have to use force.
Also, a big question is if the public is more or less anti-Russian now than a couple of years ago. Some commentators from Russia seem to think that Ukrainians are less anti-Russian, but that is not obvious to some of us. The media are more anti-Russian than before, and a large percentage of people believe the TV. Yes, they may come to hate Poroshenko, but that doesn’t necessarily lead to the kind of result the Kremlin seems to be hoping for. There is a better chance of getting people to hate the war. OK, but that might just lead to the Donbass leaving, with the rest of the Ukraine as a very anti-Russian zone. So now we are back to the issue of force. Russia didn’t want to use force, didn’t even want to make a big propaganda push in a way that would break through the info blockade, and was even hesitant to use economic leverage, perhaps due to blackmail over the Crimea. Well, if you want to wait for a rebellion to defeat a US-backed regime, you may be waiting a long time indeed. Besides, the US would probably decide to just blow things up if it looked like they would lose peacefully.
I agree with some of your points, certainly with the one about what should have happened months ago.I posted countless times then calling for that exact thing. But while I do believe it is very late, its not too late.I’m reminded how Fidel without outside state help. With 13 men, started the Cuban Revolution that overthrow the US backed dictatorship,90 miles from the US shore. What he was able to do,besides the military actions from an ever growing Rebel Army (the NAF fits that bill). Was to ally in a “Polar Front” with other political groups to wage a common struggle against the dictatorship.Until, the population, little by little, was stripped away from the dictator. The same can be done in Ukraine (not the same exact scenario, but close). In the last decades most Revolutions have come about by outside influence as you mention,or wealthy power figures in their countries. But it wasn’t always that way.Revolutions used to start because the people had enough of a regime and revolted against it.They can still come that way. There is no law that says only power figures, and foreign governments can create Revolutions.
You have to consider what the US deep state wanted from Cuba. They wanted to embarrass and otherwise end the Kennedy problem. They wanted an increase in military tensions and budgets. They certainly didn’t mind having a Communist nearby as that would be a great enemy, as long as he didn’t have too much power, such as nukes. If you think the US can’t get rid of somebody and they try dozens of times with stupid ideas like bombs in cigars, you are a hopeless optimist. Castro was quite useful for the US. The merits and demerits of his regime are totally separate from the value to the US deep state.
I’m afraid you have it wrong there my friend.First,Kennedy wasn’t in power then. The Revolution happened during the Eisenhower years. And must people at that time thought Nixon would succeed Eisenhower, not Kennedy. The US freaked out at the prospect of a “Communist” Revolution on their doorstep. At first though they thought like some others today do,that a “Peoples Revolution” had no chance to succeed. And once it did,for months they thought it would be like other half-way Revolutions. And thought like the Russians used to think about Ukraine, that money would buy anything. That Castro was for sale like all their other stooges. They didn’t understand that he wanted to free Cuba from “them”.And thought the US was the cause of most of Cuba’s problems. He came from the old line “Hispanidad” tradition and family. And hated the US for the humiliation of Latin America. He couldn’t be bought, certainly not by the US.By the time they realized that and tried to overthrow him it was too late for them.I’ve lived in Cuba before in the 1960’s.I know the level of patriotism and security in that period. The CIA wasn’t as practiced at political murders as now, back then. And they also had to worry (then) if it was thought they did it.Once Castro aligned directly with the USSR,there was a “big brother” that wouldn’t have tolerated an open murder of one of their allied leaders by the US.Plus the Cubans without any doubt at all would have gone “tit-for-tat” if the US was known as Castro’s killer. They have a very under-rated intelligence service.I used to be friends with several men in that service. And they weren’t amateurs. So those early amateur plots were what was available to the US at that time.Once the US understood the results if they succeeded they put a halt to the plots. No,Cuba has never been useful to the US since the Revolution. They have always lived in fear that they would be an example for their other Latin American slaves.Which is why they attacked the Dominican Republic, overthrew a weak leader like Allende in Chile,set-up the dictatorships in Brazil,Argentina,Uruguay, etc. Invaded Grenada, and Panama. And organized the death squads in Central American countries. As well as organizing, arming, and funding, the Contra’s in Nicaragua, when that country had a Revolution similar to Cuba’s.They messed up after the end of the Cold War.They thought they were totally in control. And didn’t see Chavez coming. Then they went through all the same mistakes as with Cuba,”can he be bought”,”can we overthrow him”,”can we kill him”.Unless they actually did kill him (the jury is out on that still),they haven’t yet attacked Venezuela as much as Cuba. But that is because the World has changed since those days. They don’t have the total control in Latin America they did then. And with all their other problems,I don’t think they have decided yet where Venezuela fits on their “to do” list.
We can agree to disagree. I am quite familiar with the background, which I would argue started with the Bogotazo. In any case, I am more on the side of Servando Gonzales, who would see in Castro a figure who was quite helpful for the US, though, of course, factional issues are always important. Anyway, perhaps you can read some of his books and see what you think. And you are arguing that the US had this powerful machine for overthrowing all these regimes and removing many leaders, but they couldn’t do much with Cuba, a poor and technologically undeveloped country. I don’t buy it.
However, when you mention that people freaked out, those were more the usual Cold Warriors. Those folks tend to be at a lower level and have less brain power and trickery than those in the deep state. In my view, the Cold War itself was a construct. For that matter, the current Ukrainian civil war is an almost totally orchestrated thing.
I’m still waiting for people to list actual names of these “deep state” members.I’ve followed politics for decades, especially European and Latin American and hear about those people. But yet never see names attached.I have no doubt that there are elites (oligarchs) that control our societies.I’m just not sure if they are organized ,and controlling every bit of it.The rich as diabolical as they can be,come and go.Some families die out. Some new ones enter the ranks. And some old ones drop out.
But you must remember the US is not infallible,it makes mistakes. We talk about the new ones everyday here.Back 50+ years ago they were even less infallible. And their machine was even less well oiled than today.Just what would they do with Cuba back then? They tried an invasion,it failed. They tried bribery,Castro purged those susceptible to support the US.And unless they wanted war with the USSR,they wouldn’t try to invade with actual US troops. As well as the Cubans prepared defenses, peoples militia’s for guerrilla war.And had artillery and anti-tank weapons to welcome a US invasion. It would have been a bloodbath. And remember Cuba has fought guerrilla wars almost their entire existence. They were (are) very experienced with the concepts.
Servando Gonzales is a “gusano” that worked/works against the Cuban Revolution. He is called a Cuban-American today. And that is all you need to know about him.So why would anyone want to learn about Cuba from an Empire Loyalist that betrayed the Revolution. That would be like learning about Russia from Chubais.I’m sorry, but I was there, and lived in that period, here and there.I know what I saw and heard back then.I’ve met and talked with some of the most vile anti-Castro (and batistiano) terrorists (Crowley,Bosch,Masferrer). As well as MININT officials including DGI/G2 ones, and they got me to understand the situation there.
I have nothing like his direct experience of the issue, but I am very much with Uncle Bob 1 on this. His description of both the Cuban experience and some of the other events in Latin America ring very true to me.
In general, I think that people tend to overestimate the complexity of thought at the top level. They buy into the idea that, to be up at the top, people must be amazingly clever, or that for an elite to hold onto power for a long time means they must be far smarter and more capable than anyone opposing them, master manipulators playing three-dimensional chess and so on. Every once in a while someone who’s really like that may pop up, like say Cardinal Richelieu. But such meritocracy is very rare.
For the most part people who think that way are simply underestimating the advantages of incumbency. Enough power and money allow mediocre plans to succeed much of the time. Look at the most prominent critics of the status quo, people such as Noam Chomsky, Gore Vidal, Norman Finkelstein, Hassan Nasrallah, Edward Said, and on and on, and even less well known critics such as some of the writers, and even commenters, here at The Saker. Now look at the most prominent pundits and apparatchiks of the status quo–Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, the gang at Fox, Dick Cheney and so on and so forth. Who is smarter than whom? The latter aren’t for the most part real bright; even the relatively clever ones really only have one or two tactics, a couple of predictable dirty tricks that work fairly often for one reason and one reason only: They have a ton of leverage and the critics do not. They have where to stand, so they can move the world–but even so, their aim is crappy. The elites do conspire, but the conspiracies are generally pretty simple and all but out in the open, arrived at in meetings like the annual World Economic Forum where a bunch of billionaires and world leaders come right out and say they intend to get together and plan our fates behind closed doors.
Look at the TPP. If ever there was a deep-state-y conspiratorial enterprise, this is it. Now look how it’s been handled: Negotiated in secret, but not very effectively because a bunch of it has been leaked. The stuff that has been leaked is exactly what everyone who knows anything was expecting, which is to say horrible crap that is bad for everyone except plutocrats. So everyone who wants to make anything of it has the ammunition they need, plus it looks terrible to be doing everything in secret. In short, the whole thing has been mishandled horribly–if they want it to pass slick with a minimum of opposition, they needed either to keep it secret for real or keep it low key but aboveboard and hope nobody much noticed. As things stand they got the worst of both worlds. Moronic! And yet, their power is such that mishandling it horribly doesn’t even matter, because the corporate press is faithfully burying the story. Plutocrats can be, and very often are, dorks with dysfunctional institutions and still win most of the time.
But not always. Sometimes they screw up real bad, or their selfish objectives damage everything (including the very institutions that preserve them) too much, or their opponents hit on some amazingly effective approaches, and they lose. Ukraine could potentially become one of those situations. I see no sign of it so far in terms of Ukrainian resistance, but the Ukrainian elites are going big on the bad screwups and the damaging of everything.
Incidentally, I think neoliberalism is pushing the whole world’s economy towards that stage; it’s driven by elites too narrow in their thinking and interests, and so cannibalizes the institutions of every country it gains strength in for the short-term interests of those elites. They’re either not smart enough to see what happens in twenty years (resistance to doing anything about global warming suggests as much), or they can’t think of another trick, but whatever the reason I see neoliberalism as ultimately self-destructive for our current elites. Do a lot of damage to the rest of us as its inexorable logic unfolds, unfortunately.
Great post,I think you are right.
It’s like a skunk which knows only one trick — but it’s good one.

Maybe some of these guys http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/jan/21/-sp-davos-guide-world-economic-forum with the “The most coveted badge in all of Davos is one with a shiny holographic sticker on it — despite the fact that most attendees, and even some Forum employees, don’t actually know what the sticker actually means. “ http://blogs.reuters.com/felix-salmon/2012/01/19/davoss-status-levels/
No,not really. Those are all people out in the open that we know about.Half of them are current government officials of one kind or the other. Now don’t get me wrong,I do believe those are the kind of elite that run our World.I’m totally in agreement with that thinking about them. But that isn’t the same as saying a “secret deep state”.The only “secret” involved there is that most of the common people don’t understand the power these people have. But its not so much that they hide it (though they do try too).As it is that most people don’t take the time to read about them.So then they are “shocked” when they hear something about those people.

That doesn’t mean they are not part of the deep state. The only secret involved there is that you very rarely get to hear what they have been talking about (but you sure as hell get to see the results).
Davos is an excellent example that they are organized ,and controlling every bit of it.
The Large Corporations own the Governments – why are you surprised that 50% of these people are government officials? that fraction sounds just about spot on to me.
A further flavour http://21stcenturywire.com/2014/01/30/the-davos-deception-the-ultimate-philistine-talking-shop-is-an-abject-failure/ :

If you happen to live in the Davos bubble – that global village where Wall Street, Google, Warren Buffet and Bono (photo, left) get to rub shoulders and pontificate on stage alongside real-life sex deviants, thieves and war criminals like Dominique Strauss-Khan, Christine Lagarde, Henry Kissenger, Dick Cheney and Tony Blair, and their underwriters like Rupert Murdoch – life couldn’t be any better. Where else could genuine elites find endless legions of wannabe elites, paid and volunteer alike, all more than keen to prostrate themselves at the alter of neoliberal economics and the transhumanist singularity? This is TED on steroids – an essential globalist pilgrimage, where the ‘great and the good’ gather, “to help make the world a better place”.

To understand how much the world changed and the degree to which the USA lost control of Latin America, you have to see the reopening of diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba.
The US propaganda, and people fooled by that, makes it as if it was an US victory; that Cuba is bending, etc…
But actually that was a *CUBAN* demand all along. It was the USA that for 50 years refused to reopen embassies; then all of a sudden the USA finally agrees… why? Because the USA has been utterly *ISOLATED* in its own continent, that’s why!
In the OAS (Organization of American States) there was only one (1) country backing the USA against Cuba. Only ONE! (Canada). All others were either strongly against, menacing to go out of the organization, or call a vote to eject the USA itself, or were abstaining. But nobody (else than Canada) was backing the USA.
So the risk was extremely high that the USA could have a diplomatic defeat of enormous dimensions. To avoid that, they were force to accept defeat and agree to the first of the cuban request.
Yet the cubans made it clear in the speech at the reopening of their embassy: things aren’t settled yet, there are more issues: at least the end of the economic blockade, and restitution of the occupied land around Guantanamo bay.
There are however some huge differences.
The key to understand Fidel and the cuban revolution is to study the cuban History.
Actually the struggle started with de Cespedes against the spaniards, in the late 1800s; and it carried on with almost no interruption until 1959.
That is, the struggle, and *the leadership* of the struggle, passed without interruption not only from generation to generation, but even from leader to leader within the same generation. There was no gap. No gap in the struggle, and no gap in the ideological leadership.
In Ukraine however, there is a huge generational gap.
There is also the fueling of the ethnic hatred. Cubans were (and still are) united; ukrainians are very split.
If all of Ukraine had the same spirit as in the Donbass, then yes it would be similar to Cuba (and indeed the war would have been over and the whole country liberated in less than a year).
In the end Justice will prevail, I have no doubt about that. But it will take time and tears, it won’t be an easy path. And external conditions will have more weight than internal ones (I mean, political and economical situation in USA and EU will be more important than military situation in Ukraine itself.)
yes, I tend to agree with your sentiments. What I dont quite understand is RF has several powerful counter measures that are non-violent, but chose not to use them : the proposed sanctions on Ukrainian produce as mentioned in the article, plus the almighty GAS from Gazprom, plus the debt owed to the RF that RF could have asked to be redeemed immediately. These 3 measures have always been available, and imo, more powerful than any talk, but never acted upon.
I always scratch my head on this.
Pity that these wishful thinking posts appear with such predictable regularity. At the moment, there is not the slightest chance of an antigovernmnet rebellion in Ukraine because the current government and security forces, unlike the previous government, have taken care to make it very clear that their response to any kind of dissidence will be brutal.
Grassroots is a pretty word, and it may work to an extent in a place where democratic institutions have not been totally destroyed. But that is not the case in Ucraine. You cannot fight revolutions and rebellions with “grassroots” convictions. I have no doubt that many Ukrainians realize the plight they are in, and realize the utter fraud that Maidan turned out to be. But that doesn’t mean they are anywhere near ready to risk their lives to confront a thuggish regime. These kinds of regimes grow in strength, especially under extraordinary circumstances like ongoing armed conflict, and especially if they are propped by deep pockets. The Franco regime n Spain was said to be in its last legs in the 40s after the end of WW2. Nobody was supporting them. There was an international ecnomic blockade. There was little food to bring to the table. Some people were still trying to resist and organize, more and more timidly. To no avail. The regime ruthlessly crushed all its opponents and lasted until the dictator died of old age in bed, with great funerary fanfarre.
There seems to be very little real understanding of how these fascist regimes work and how they exercise power. They exercise power by instilling real fear.
No, sir. Ukraine is not at the brink of any rebellion or revolution, and it won’t be for as long as its western minders keep nourishing it.
The only real hope of real “de-nazification” is through armed revolution, which, at this point, can only come from a combination of NAF and RF. Everything else is poppycock.
In the 1940s Spain was indeed in very bad shape; but the world was tired of wars and not committed to fight Franco. Then in the 1950s the USA supported Spain, and the internal economic situation improved slowly. People there were in fear, without much real external support, and economically it was improving… indeed rebellion couldn’t catch up.
But look at neighbouring Portugal.
The political situation was much the same (with the same USA backing too); but then Portugal entered a long colonial war in Africa; the economy went down and people sent to war were coming back in cuffins, those that came back alive had horrendous images in their minds… doesn’t that feels like Ukraine?
At the end, the portuguese army, the lower officer and privates ranks, had enough, and rebelled.
A portuguese scenario could be possible in Ukraine.
From what I saw of the reactions and feelings of the average captured UAF soldier, I think the potentiality is there, there is only a lack of (underground) organization and strategic planing.
Currently UAF members follow orders, because they are soldiers and are lost and don’t know what else to do. But what if some rebellion started in the army; what if they could (and even had to) choose which commander to follow?
Very true. That exact thing happened in 1934 in Cuba.A Revolution had overthrown a vile dictator in 1933 (Machado). Then the lower ranked soldiers (sergeants) staged a coup and overthrew their officers and seized power from the new government. An interesting part to that story is that the sergeant that came to power from that coup, was in later days the infamous dictator that Castro’s Cuban Revolution overthrew in 1959 (Batista).
Totally agree
This is a “formatted” agenda with a Goal
Its a “Goal” that does not include or consider the inhabitants of Ukraine !!!
Sad – but FACT
I know a lot of people (both in Ukraine, and outside) don’t give the CSU any credence, but I do. Like the article said “better late than never”.I see the CSU as a start. If they can get protests (revolts) going, then they should come to an agreement with Donbass (they promise to already),set themselves up in Donetsk. And appoint the NAF as the “new” Ukrainian military.Call on the current junta military to renounce allegiance to the junta and join with the NAF (after a purge of the pro-fascist elements in it). They could form a “United Front” government and liberate the country. Its been done many times in history.I don’t see why it can’t be done today in Ukraine.I’ve been saying that since this coup took place. The fascist and ultra-nationalist West Ukrainian traitors are a minority of Ukraine’s population. If revolts (resistance) breaks out nationwide, the junta forces they will have left can’t put it down. And they will crumble away.
Organization and certainty of punishment and reward make the world go ’round. Kiev was unorganized after the coup, and the Kremlin could have done a lot, as long as they were organized and knew what they wanted to achieve. Now the US has organized Kiev to a large degree in the way that the US wants. And the risk/reward ratio is such that rebelling will lead to certain punishment. So all these ideas are way late, and now require serious backing by the Kremlin. Lawyers, guns, and money, especially lots of guns. Then you can convince the people in the Ukraine that you are serious. Actually, that may be the biggest problem of all. There is a trust gap. People in the Ukraine, including the Donbass, likely do not trust the Kremlin. Would you lead a rebellion in Kharkov tomorrow if you saw articles like this all over the Russian media? Will they provide the green men and bribes that are needed, or will you end up in a dungeon without your teeth for the rest of your life? A widespread belief is that the Russian establishment is quite divided on the Ukraine, so will they cover your back?
yes, what you said is true. reminds me of one of Mao’s famous saying “Power comes from the barrel of a gun”, in situations like the Ukraine.
Very true. But you also need a “political face” to show the public. But,yes, ultimately power in any government (the good ones as well as the bad ones) comes from the barrel of a gun.Mao was totally correct there.
Well, it depends what you want to achieve. If I were a citizen of Ukraine, I would simply pack my hand-luggage and walk away. Why wait and hope for some distant better future if you can leave today and start tomorrow in a friendly and welcoming place?
That’s the “voting with your feet” approach.
That is the difference between the “settler” countries. And the old established states. While certainly people in other states move about. Its more an accepted/expected thing in settler societies. They aren’t rooted to their historical land as others are. Then there is the fact that most Ukrainians can’t leave, even if they wanted to.No money,no jobs,no visas. They will have to be desperate (shells falling on Donetsk desperate) to leave everything and go.And even most of those people return or are only moving to the next door country.
Frankly, after keeping up as much as possible with what is happening in Ukraine, I have to say that it seems to me the only hope Ukraine has rests with the forces of the Donbass. I honestly feel that instead of just defending the east, they should be more offensive in nature and free the rest of the country up to Kiev. If they start to break out of the established lines, they may catch the imaginations of others in Ukraine who want to overthrow the existing junta and inspire them to take action. The key seems to be in the east, IMO. I honestly don’t think the UAF have the stomach, or what it takes, to defend itself against a determined and advancing army.
I think this next renewal of the war may tell the tale. Some are predicting late August to no later than October (before the ground turns to mud).If the NAF does defeat the UAF and does a breakout ,it might turn the whole war.Like you, I think a breakout into other Oblasts would encourage some of the others to rise against the junta. And if that happened the UAF might collapse totally. That could spur a coup against the junta in Kiev.
I’m not even sure if there ever was a truly grassroots revolution that actually resulted in some long-lasting changes. Almost all revolutions were financed one way or the other and there’re always some powers that want to capitalize on a genuine discontent of the people and steer it away from its real goals.
However, I believe that more and more people are getting educated about the ruling classes and getting more skilled at recognizing the layers of propaganda and manipulation that keeps the 1%ers in power; fake history, fake media, fake education (just another word for propaganda priming), fake “grassroots” movements, fake religions/spirituality, fake existence….Sooner or later, with a little bit of help, all of this BS will implode.
I just finished reading one of the Napoleon’s biographies (I totally admire this dude) which clearly depicted how the banksters of that time were always playing both sides against each other of nearly every conflict in Europe.
Western bankers financed Lenin and his trip “to the Finland Station.”

Yes,but that isn’t the full story. You’d have to go through Russian history to see why that succeeded. There was almost a century of unrest and division in Russia. With many movements of the Left,Right, and in-between,that conditioned the people to accept Revolution. The intellectual cases had toyed with the ideas of Revolution for generations. It was kind of like the Ukrainian situation today. While the coup ,plotted and funded by the West was the ultimate cause of the collapse. They had been subverted by oligarchs, and fascists for years before. The venom of the Western Ukrainian “nationalism” laid the groundwork to make it easy for the West to find willing stooges. As in Russia today with the 5th column. If there hadn’t been a Putin to stop the rot 15 years ago we’d see a “Color Revolution” easy to pull off there as well. The rot of the “Westernization” in the ex-USSR was toxic. It was like an infectious disease.
In a word – no, not at all. Not in the slightest. This is IMHO fatally flawed misunderstanding of the socio-political situation in #Ukraine.
There are no indications or symptoms of “revolution” on the ground in Ukraine – the central and Eastern Ukrainian people who have not fully bought into the #Maidan regime have retreated into customary Ukrainian political apathy and stoicism – to bear it for the long haul.
There is no “people’s revolution” on the horizon in #Ukraine. More to the point, without the foreign and oligarch support – the #Maidan wouldn’t have been one either. The Ukrainian people are sick to death of “revolutions” and rightly have no belief in their ability to affect systemic change.
And Azarov’s belated, so-called “Committee to Save Ukraine”, a day late and a ruble short, has no, that is ZERO, support in Ukraine OR the Donbass, and rightly so. Where have they been since last February – securing their wealth in Switzerland, talk-shops in Moscow?
Without a serious horrible civil war effort from the #Donbass, let off the leash and supported overtly from #Russia – the West-backed #Maidan regime and all its noxious repercussions are here to stay. The regime despite its economic woes, gets more entrenched in the minds of the majority of the Ukrainian people by the day, not less…more’s the pity…even economic collapse and widespread impoverishment will not remove this regime, no matter how much the Kremlin might wish it to be so. The anti-Russian propaganda through oligarch and Western media has a firm grip on the Ukrainian social-consciousness.
Unfortunately this is just a flip-side of the same wishful thinking, disguised as analysis, that we see on the other side.
Well past time for some grim, inconvenient pragmatism and realism, no matter how much we don’t want to hear or believe it.
I generally agree with your more pessimistic assessment. But there is one possibility that both you and Korybko have overlooked: secession. The Hungarians and Rusyns have been staunchly resisting the draft from the start and have occassionally taken to blockading the roads into their region. Galicia-Volhynia has long been a hotbed of secessionism too. The latter region, especially, is important, since that was the birthplace of modern Banderism. But what if the people there decide that the rest of the country is too filled with treasonous ‘Moskali’ and decide to go it alone? At any rate, it’s a possibility.
Mark,
It is always nice to hear an alternative to the hopium that seems so popular in Russia and the pro-Russian mediasphere.
We appreciate your work, by the way. If you ever get the chance, maybe you could write something on how Russia got into this mess in the first place. It seems like the hopium, denial, and lack of long-range planning have been a problem for quite some time. Compare how the US has approached the Ukraine over the last 15 years or so and then how Russia has. Who had clearer goals, plans, and systems to actually implement things?
Someone the other day in a post described it correctly (I thought it was you maybe?maybe not?).The Russians treated Ukraine like everyone was for sale, and they only needed to bribe people. The West on the other hand used propaganda for years, used their old fascist contacts, and bribed people as well. The Russians ran a horrible game for years.Yes,I know the Yeltsin years are our common excuse. And to some extent its a valid one.But how much money would pro-Russian propaganda and “friendship” societies have cost,in a country already pro-Russian to start with. And where almost half the population is either Russian speaking or actually of Russian ancestry.Certainly far less than the Sochi games cost.
Yes, the #1 strong point of the West has always been Propaganda (or you can call it Marketing).
It works because most people think it constitutes a “free press”, while the other countries are not good at hiding behind “free press” at all….
Thus people tend to treat Western propaganda as facts, and treat news/facts from other sources as propaganda! It has been this way for at least 15 years, but most people still do not know! I call it the real Twilight Zone!
The west is all about propaganda.. If you look at any lists, its always the west that tops the list, free press is right there.. But we all know just how free the US press is.. When even they themselves say they are for entertainment only when challenged about the difference between news and garbage. The rest of the world all don’t have free press.. I know china don’t and middle eastern countries don’t.. Some like Thailand have rules where you can not talk about the royal family.. Maybe that’s what they mean about the free press, discussing how many sexual partners the royal family goes through.. We know there are many things you can not talk about in the US because it is not in the national interest, or national security or libel or what ever not. But you can degrade and degenerate others without any facts and fiction is taken as hard data.
Maybe that’s the free press they talk about.. Where you can call for the death of others and get away with it. It of course does not work the other way.. Calling for the death of Americans gets you 20 to life and solitary.. But even calling for the deaths of leaders of other countries gets standing ovations. That’s the American free press..
This propaganda has been going on before the US even came into existence.. Starting with the US history and what is written in its books.. Which is not really history but marketing tid bits.. The thing is, decadence has taken over even the lowest that they all actually believe in all their bullshit. Some guy was blaming iran for giving weapons to Iraqi Sunni insurgents fighting the us occupation forces and they blew his legs away or something. This nutless wonder instead of blaming the people who sent him to invade a defenseless country to plunder and loot blames the victims for the harm he suffered for his own actions. His feeble mind actually believes all the bullshit even after what he went through so maybe the world did him a favor..
I wonder if this punishment, reward system will keep working once the US is stopped from looting the planet.. Because right now, people follow because those who oppose are punished.. And losing ones privileges is quite tough.. That new SUV and iphone every year, imagine if you can not afford to get a new one every year.. While following the criminals gets you rich beyond measure.. It is not like this in most countries. Its very subtle.. You only notice it when you get noticed for not following the line.. And if the blacks in the US are anything to go by, no one wants to be noticed and we know about the lives of most blacks and we don’t want to live like them.. But on the other side, look at the blacks that conform..
The militia is no better than half the size of the Ukie military and other armed forces. It has no chance to win an all-out war without Russian forces in scale alongside (actually, Airborne dropped behind lines, inserted with the counter-attacking forces). That is Russian invasion scale. Probably, they would need to be 10,000, not polite green men but regaled as Russian for full shock effect. So the world would react negatively at Russia to achieve your goal. It is a non-starter.
That is not going to happen. Russia is not going to wage a war against Ukraine in the open.
They are doing just fine with North Wind and Volunteers.
The solution is another brutal defeat of the Ukies, stimulus to generate a revolution, even inspiring the Nazis to take or openly fight Kiev.
The collapse of the junta is easily seen, as Andrew has indicated. The government leaders are foreigners who can’t even speak Ukrainian. The pain the populace is willing to take to uphold Maidan is at its near-limits.
Russia could turn the screws economically as Andrew indicates about agricultural products.
With millions of dollars in bribes, key leadership at oblast and city level could be turned into useful assets for a revolution. First, there must be one more massive military defeat. It is coming.
The desire to have Russia win the war just because they can is short-sighted. Thousands of casualties on both sides would leave a chasm between the Ukrainians and Russians and Europeans for decades.
Your solution is no solution.
Putin knows what he’s doing.
Shoigu knows what he’s doing.
And Andrew offers a possible unfolding of future events. It is historically grounded. Most people are intolerant of being led into economic catastrophe. The Maidan was anti-oligarchic in theory and ideology. (No matter how false it was constructed.) Now, they have their nation totally destroyed by oligarchs. Why would they not, at some point, revolt? With a little Russian grease and some skilled help from FSB, it is entirely doable.
Mr. Sleboda, you have it wrong.
@ Mark Slevoda: sigh. unfortunately your analysis seems to be more reality based for now…a discussion of a long term strategy ( 20-30 years) and tactics to fit stages of change is more in order.
For example: the coming Balkanization of the Ukraine.
Privet Mark,
oh, I only saw your comment after having written mine.
But you came to exactly the same conclusions.
I also wanted to write an article about civil unrest and protest rallies in Zakarpattia and Galicia during recent days.
I spent a few hours on youtube, google, yandex and social media sites, also in comments sections of articles in the Novorussian media and blog landscape.
Then I informed SF that I cannot write an article about this subject, because there is as good as NO unrest.
A few claims about such things going on, but no video footage or any evidence.
There was a quite smally rally in Lvov, but that’s all I could find proof for.
Sadly.
Here is what I wrote.
p.s. If’m I’m wrong, anybody: Please correct me with actual video proof.
That would be very appreciated!
it appears I was right with my feeling, that nothing is really happening in the so called ATO in Western Ukraine.
There are almost no links, not even in Ukrainian language. (Maybe I’m wrong, pls.correct me if you think so.)
I also visited sectorpravdy.com and wasted some minutes to listen to Yarosh (via subtitles).

My recent comment was a bit unorganized.
Here again what my goal was when I first posted these snippets to a friend yesterday:
In response to http://fortruss.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/mukachevo-protesters-demand-special.html
which in turn is based on a translation of
В Мукачево состоялся марш и митинг русинов против террора «Правого сектора», за мир и особый статус Закарпатья
http://novorossia.su/ru/node/21800
… I wanted to find true authentic and waterproof video footage of protest marches in (all of) Western Ukraine against Kiev, for example performed by the following groups:
* Polish minority inside Ukraine (Lvov, Tarnopol, Zhytomir)
* Rusyns (in Zakarpatta)
* Right Sector (Zakarpatta and Lvov)
* Hungarians (Zakarpatta)
This material shall not be 1 month old or from 2014 (such videos do exist), but shall reflect the claims that this unrest is taking place right now (which I would appreciate).
I WISHED such protests were taking place and would attract Millions.
I’m waiting for this to happen for over a year now, day after day …..
(Same as I waited for them here in East-Germany since 1990.)
But I could so far not find much, other than a small Bandera Pro-Galicia demonstration in Lvov. And of course the events of July in Мукачево. But that’s extremely little, given the situation Ukraine is in.
If anybody knows of such videos, please post them here or write me to

Mark is right. You can’t candy-coat it.
Ukraine is completely demoralized. France was totally demoralized in the wake of the French Revolution until Napoleon came along and put an end to the Red Terror and organized a functional government, but it doesn’t look like there is anyone on the horizon in Ukraine with that kind of talent. Another Nato-created failed state. Yes, Russia is largely responsible for this mess for its misguided hands-off policy toward ex-soviet republics, but as Peter Lavelle emphasizes again and again, Europe dropped the ball on the now infamous February 22nd Agreement, and everything tragically fell apart after that. Europeans are generally completely exhausted from centuries of warfare and are tragically zombified. Europeans were so badly demoralized after WW I that they just let Hitler roll right over them with little or no opposition. The Poles put up a spirited defense, but Polish Horse was no match.
I don’t think it’s right to say Russia is responsible — it’s not their country. The key word is *EX*-soviet. Russia’s policy is for national sovereignty, for all countries.
One might argue that the breakup of the Soviet Union was in error, but once it was done Russia had no right to impose it’s will on other members of that union than any other member, and Russia, as the other former members, had it’s own problems — big problems — to deal with (including those created by Ukrainian, and those from other republics, premiers, like Khrushchev). If the US were to break up into it’s states would it be right to blame NY for problems in Delaware?
The countries most to blame for Ukraine is the US which has had an active role in destroying it, and Ukraine itself — with Europe, as US lapdogs, close to follow. Russia has been minding it’s own business mostly, even while doing some favors for Ukraine by giving it special prices and such.
It might have helped if Russia had been a little more pro-active in attaching a few more strings to the massive amounts of welfare to Ukraine – like wagging a finger at Nazi youth camps and other breeding grounds of violence and hate instead of ignoring them and hoping they would go away. It is well-meaning, of course, to mind one’s own business, until you see someone playing with matches, then it becomes your business. Gorbachev was very well-meaning.
Part of the problems Russia had to deal with was Yeltsin, Gorbachev, the liberals and the fifth column, and just trying to get the country working right, of course. That wasn’t good for either intelligence or strategic foreign policy planning. Hard to worry about a neighbor playing with matches when your own house is on fire.
In hindsight they may have done better, but things wouldn’t be so bad if the US had kept its nose out of it — the same nose Russia had to deal with within Russia itself, a victim too. They could have done much worse, and it’s fortunate Putin was there when he was, and got as much done as he did.
There’s still work to be done in Russia getting itself together, and internal enemies and fools, supported by the empire, to contain. The trick is to win against the war the lunatic empire is waging while not blowing up the world, and that’s on the edge.
Yes unfortunately I think this article is wishful thinking. I’m sure most people in Ukraine know that the current regime is completely corrupt and has brought disaster on their country, but they’re too apathetic and afraid to do anything to challenge them. It’s actually quite pathetic how people just shrug their shoulders and move on, hoping that if they stay quiet and don’t draw attention they won’t be affected. With the exception of a small Jewish clique and their collaborators, EVERYONE in Ukraine will suffer eventually from this regime. By doing nothing they’re simply allowing the regime to solidify control and eliminate any potential allies they might have had when they themselves become the target.
The dictatorship will collapse. It’s inevitable – look at the previous coup-installed regime in 2004. It lasted for 6 years. I can’t see the current one lasting longer than that. Although their rule is more openly based on terror and naked violence, they are also openly leading the country to national suicide, and no country can tolerate that forever. I think just let them stew in their own mess and let the Ukrainian people see all the wonderful things the “pro-Western” government has brought to them. I think it will take this to make them finally realize how much Russia was subsidizing them and that their “Western allies” don’t really give a s*** about them. The standard tactic will be to blame everything on Russia, but if there is peace in the East it will be harder and harder to convince people of that.
hmm…..so far Rus has “disavowed” itself from this committee, and would be in a most difficult spot should they offer any support or approval, or funds being sent to this group via Rus banking systems or Rus its self would be accused even more of supporting a “terrorist” group perhaps, undermining Minsk9any excuse to halt it by kiev,, as west will accuse them of expanding territory, Rus “agressiveness” again……..I really can’t believe VP will go along with that, but leave it to ukrainians themselves to invite the committee back to live in ukraine rather than promulgate from the safety of elsewheres outside Ukraine…………I can’t believe the committee would even dare cross the border………..so just another case of wishful thinking but lack of courage from these people?

Q: Many are asking: When will it start.
A: Maybe it has already.
re: organized resistance in the Ukraine: First of all, Mr. Korybko: One can hope but People seem to be very cynical after years of one betrayal after another from both pro and anti Russian opportunistic leadership. And as for those banned books? Who was reading them anyway? The intelligencia? They are lined up calling on their relatives in EU and USA to get them exit visas. As for the salt of the earth type Ukrainians: they know the score and are hunkering down for a bad blow. The one woman in a video was seen very articulately screaming at a military recruiter while brandishing a tomato, ” And who are we supposed to sell these to if not Russia—the EU?” and she spat. This was a year ago or so. Monsanto wants her land for huge factory farms—maybe multiple crops of wheat or winter wheat and they will sell the product to India and Egypt if necessary. The disturbing fact that there is a high suicide rate in the Ukie army is not good—it shows demoralization of a psychologically defeated populace like in the US army. You of all people with your “neocortical, neurolinguistic manipulation of hive mentality” should recognize that this has been done to the Ukrainian people over a generation ( some 20 years). Oh and a false sense of victim identity vis a vis a figmented oppressor ( the Russians which is really a fragmented part of their own unacknowledged identity). No wonder forms of self destruction are rife ( suicide, alcoholism drugs) The contradiction of a polled vote of confidence for Putin should provide a telling “in” to a new approach to the Western Ukrainians.
The salvation committee video showed the Otpor fist as a backdrop — a bad sign. Sharp’s work has been taken over by the imperialists, and I’mnot sure this ‘salvation’ is any more genuine than that offered by the rich televangelists. I expect riots and chaos is more likely than a real revolution at this point — the US still has it’s filthy hands, money, weapons, and fascist training programs there, and will settles for just massive death and destruction — genocide — as it’s done elsewhere. The current Kiev regime may well be destroyed — that’s to be expected — but the odds for change for the better is still looking pretty slim now.
Keep in mind that the rest of the world, at least west of Russia, and the environment is also going to hell, and that makes anything getting better anywhere much more difficult. Why would Ukraine be the place where one sees improvement rather than going into deeper crisis and misery than it already has, when the US and EU are going down hill and is yet to hit bottom?
The only ones with an improvement to speak of are the wealthy fascists, and that’s strictly temporary and largely illusion. The task of the BRICS is not so much to ‘win’ as to just hold itself together so it survives and will be the only bunch left standing after worldwide collapse.
The so called “Wende” in GDR (so called revolution in East-Germany in 1989) was also staged by the West.
It was carefully prepared, planned and financed for decades by the West.
When super-traitor Gorbachev’s ghosts of “Glasnost/Perestroika” spread like a pandemic, the weakness of the so far feared by some and respected by many Soviet system could suddenly be felt.
So the political rallies prepared by agents and traitors would suddenly fill with thousands and later hundreds of thousands of naive lower class East-Germans who wanted most and foremost the right to travel to the West.
Millions wanted that all the time since the date when the borders were closed (August 13th 1961).
But without wanting to have East-Germany being de-facto annexed by the West! Without wanting de-industrialization of the East. Without wanting to lose 5 million jobs in the East and so on. Let alone broken pride, because the West never found a single good word about communism.
However – it took 28 years until the pseudo-revolution finally started, and less than a single year afterwards until East-Germany was literally finished (October 3rd 1990). The West-German DeutschMark was introduced in East-Germany on July 1st 1990. While this was hugely applauded by the stupid masses, it literally finished off the East-German economy within a few days in July. Because like now in Greece East-Germany was no longer offering cheap labour and cheap goods, but suddenly was made too expensive, heavily overpriced.
Why did it take so long:
* It took so long to brain-wash the younger generations with Western TV propaganda
* It took so long to infiltrate East-German scientists and churches
* Before 1989 the Soviet system was still feared too much and not yet weakened enough
* If we translate this to Ukraine: It can take another 100 years until the revolution starts
* No single revolution is truly genuine, it will never “start”, it will almost always get started from outside.
Many started to figure out soon, that the West has betrayed us and robbed us off.
But no new revolution was even attempted. Without the power of those international bankers (let alone against them) no revolution ever builds.
Sorry if this sounds pessimistic. And I sincerely hope for a better outlook. But 25 years in the now so called “re-united” Germany have killed most of the hopes I ever had. We must be realistic.
The unlimited brainwashing power of western (and Ukrainian) media, can never be overestimated.
And: I hope I’m wrong this time.
p.s. This time will be different anyway, but probably in a negative sense: Because half of the planet is already burning today, with the economy being dead everywhere around the world and the tribe being in panic mode.
Martin from SEB:
East Germany was a hopeless country vis-a-vis East Germany from the time of Stalin’s mistake of stripping the country of Silesia and Pommerania and the Sudetenland. This needlessly fed 10 million people into West Germany and stripped the country of much of its industrial potential, leaving it 1/4 the population of the west. An East Germany of 30 million or more and an equal area to the west would have been an entirely different place.
This mistake was part of the compound error of annexing Galacia and Volhynia instead of leaving them with Poland.
Andrew: If Stalin made a mistake with that or not is another question.
At least we had 40 years of peace and happiness.
The western allies were only against it because they secretly wanted _all_ of Germany to end up under their control. Stalin delayed this at least by 70 years! Check out Андрей Фурсов Joseph Stalin – here and now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkA5u9u3TB0
BTW: While it is true that GDR was cut off all resources (No good quality Bituminous coal [lost to West-German Ruhr area and Polish Upper-Silesia], no metals, almost no natural resources whatsoever) and whereas GDR at first needed to pay lots of material reparations (railroads, metals, machines, entire factories) to the CCCP, _unlike_ the western zones {which “only” lost Trillions worth of patents and intellectual property to the US}, we nevertheless managed to move up to the 9th largest economy of the world in about 1970, not impressive?
And this without “Marshall Plan”.
Simply with educated zivilised highly motivated communist working brigades and 5year plans!
BTW: Where do you get the assumption from, that the lost Eastern Territories east of Oder-Neisse fed the western zones with _all_ refugees? My own ancestors came half from Silesia, other half from Eastern Prussia in the area between the now polish border and Kaliningrad Oblast. Some of them earlier lived near Galicia on what belonged to Russia before WW1 (were expelled to Poland after WW1). Unfortunately I don’t know all that much about them, because they were all very poor workers without any property. From WW1 to WW2 this branch lived in Silesia (german side at the time).
And most of them migrated to the Soviet zone, only some came to the British, French and American zones. We are talking about the 40ties and early 50ties. Not sure if anybody actually had a choice after WW2.
And even though the borders were open until August 13th 1961, all of my family who lived in the Soviet zone, stayed here and were mostly happy (although we were not in the party and had certain problems).
Yes,that was very impressive. And something mostly unknown in the West.A country will few resources, limited aid and its capital bisected that rises to the World’s 9th industrial power. As you said it shows the dedication and skill of the German working class.
As to the borders.I do believe that they were cut too much.I could see easily all Upper Silesia and most of East Prussia and all West Prussia going to Poland. And in a pinch maybe Lower Silesia and East Pomerania. But if they were going to use the Oder as a border then Stettin should have remained for the DDR.And also the Bohr River traditional border with Silesia instead of the Neisse. That would only have been fair.As it was though the DDR I believe was as large (and more populous) than another German state,Austria. And concerning the Polish lands lost to Ukraine. Those weren’t really “Polish” lands. They were Rus lands conquered by Poland. Then taken back by Russia in the North. And the Southwest held by Austria-Hungary as Galicia. The Poles took them back only after WWI.And in all that time the vast majority of the people were Rus.The Soviet mistake, was not in reclaiming those lands. The mistake was not thoroughly purging fascism there. And not re-instilling Rus identity among those people. The people at that time had no love for the Poles. And never wanted to belong to Poland. They may not have wanted to be part of the USSR.But they did want to be a part of Ukraine (they just wanted to be the ones in charge of it).
Well written!!
And it is amazing how good you know the NittyGritty of history here 10 thousand kilometers away (I’m way not that skilled in US or south American history).
It’s 5am here, only one point, no, three points for now:
#0.) With Stettin you are 100% right. But that wasn’t Stalin’s decision. Or now I see claims that allegedly, secretly, it was. This appears to be completely disputed. Hard if not impossible to find out the truth.
I (my german identity part) alwys felt disgrunteled about Stettin. If the Poles are so hasty to get the Oder-Neisse line, why then not the real line of Oder-Neisse, but yet again with cherry picking?
The answer is somewhere close to this: Actually Stettin was going to be part of the Soviet occupation zone (and later DDR [German Democratic Republic]).
Until late June of 1945 everything appeared normal that this would in fact happen. And the same measures took place like in the other parts of the Soviet Zone. Including preparations for elections with the social democrat and communist parties SPD and KPD (in the Soviet Zone later united to the SED (Socialist UnityPartyOfGermany).
Then the Poles suddenly occupied Stettin and demanded from Moscow the right to annex it, because Danzig wasn’t enough of a Sea-port for them, and they wanted MOAR.
For this reason the DDR had no sea-port and needed to construct one from thin air in Rostok.
Interestingly the Wikipedia page doesn’t mention the special situation in a single word.
Tom make things more complicated:
“””””In addition to Poles also Ukrainians from Polish areas annexed by the Soviet Union settled there.[84]”””””
Because Poland and Ukraine had several wars since 1920, and this fight dindn’t end before 1950 and involved extremely barbaric massacres performed by both sides, especially by Ukrainian Nationalists with Polish victims (you know that ll).
Ok, here we have it mentioned: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oder%E2%80%93Neisse_line
“””””With respect to Poland’s western frontiers, Stalin noted that the Polish Prime Minister in exile, Stanisław Mikołajczyk, had been pleased when Stalin had told him Poland would be granted Stettin/Szczecin and the German territories east of the Western Neisse.[23
[…]
Polish and Soviet demands
Alleged map of dominant ethnicities in and around Poland, 1931 (according to Henryk Zieliński, a Pole)
Originally, Germany was to retain Stettin, while the Poles were to annex East Prussia with Königsberg (now Kaliningrad). The Polish government had in fact demanded this since the start of World War II in 1939, because of East Prussia’s strategic position that allegedly undermined the defense of Poland.[citation needed] Other territorial changes proposed by the Polish government were the transfer of the Silesian region of Oppeln and the Pomeranian regions of Danzig, Bütow and Lauenburg, and the straightening of the border somewhat in Western Pomerania.
However, Stalin decided that he wanted Königsberg as a year-round warm water port for the Soviet Navy, and he argued that the Poles should receive Stettin instead. The pre-war Polish government-in-exile had little to say in these decisions, but insisted on retaining the city of Lwów (Lvov, Lemberg, now L’viv) in Galicia. Stalin refused to concede, and instead proposed that all of Lower Silesia including Breslau (Polish: Wrocław) be given to Poland. Many Poles from Lwów would later be moved to populate the city.”””””
#1.) With the RUS areas I can mostly agree with you.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territories_of_Poland_annexed_by_the_Soviet_Union
Although nowaday’s borders of so called modern day Ukraine (which include many more territories than the original small region once called Ukraine) were long occupied by the Polish-Lithuanian Empire until the 3 Polish partitions.
And: It’s a real mix of ethnicities there in some areas.
But at certain times there had been strongly Pro-Moscovite popular movements in now Western Ukraine. Ah, long topic. Wikipedia must be read with some salt, but they have huge masses of useful information.
RUS history is extremely lengthy and complex.

“””””Lithuania-Rus’
As a new cultural region, Lithuania-Rus’ (Ruthenia) evolved in the territory of the formerly prosperous Kievan Rus’ – the first state of the Eastern Slavs, officially baptized in 988. By the second half of the fourteenth century it was integrated into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (GDL), a multi-ethnic state that was home to a number of Baltic peoples, Rus’ Slavs (future Belarusians and Ukrainians), Tatars, Armenians, and Jews. (This territory is now within the borders of five national states: Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, eastern Poland and south-western Russia.) The political disintegration of Kievan Rus’, starting in the 1130s, and the sack of Kiev by the Mongols in 1240 resulted in the redistribution of power in the region. By the mid fourteenth century one can speak of three main cultural and political spheres, heirs to the Kievan legacy: Northern Rus’ (Novgorod Republic), South-Western Rus’ (Lithuanian Rus’/Ruthenia) and North-Eastern Rus’ (Muscovy). While the Orthodox Slavs in these areas pursued the cultural and religious orientation of their predecessor state (ecumenically sharing a metropolitan of Kiev and all Rus’, subjected to the Byzantine patriarch), new political, economic and social circumstances, as well as dynastic allegiances, led to the development of significant cultural differences.
A great number of residents in the GDL were Orthodox. Pagan Lithuanians were not only tolerant of Orthodox customs but adapted the Slavic language for their bureaucracy, while some élites converted to Orthodox Christianity. Throughout the fourteenth century, the Orthodox ecclesiastical hierarchy in Ruthenia, supported by Lithuanian princes, claimed their right of succession to the Metropolitanate of Kiev and refused to accept the metropolitan who resided in Northern Rus’, moving first to Vladimir and then to Moscow. At the same time, the enduring ecumenical spirit of the Rus’ Orthodox Church promoted cultural interaction between Muscovy, Novgorod and Ruthenia.
The hostile relationship between Lithuania and the Prussian Teutonic Order made Lithuanian princes look for an ally in Poland. After the conclusion of the dynastic and political union between Lithuania and Poland in 1385 (Union of Kreva), Polish Catholicism played a prominent part in the cultural and political life of Lithuania and challenged the former authority of the Orthodox Church. The year 1387 saw the beginning of Lithuania’s Christianization, while the victory at the battle of Grunwald in 1410 brought relief from the Teutonic Order.
Similar to Orthodox iconography (art) and chant (music), writing (literature) was considered sacral in nature. The culture of writing was one of anonymity and humility, with no personalization. Following and studying fundamental texts was considered valuable, while innovation and creation of new texts was considered to be of secondary importance. These principles nourished the tradition of collection and preservation of canonical texts. For the sake of the soul’s salvation, books were relentlessly copied and reedited, resulting in multiple redactions of various compilations (edifying “sborniki,” such as the Pchela, Patericons, Prologues, etc.)
In general, bookmen in Lithuanian Rus’ continued the tradition of Kievan Rus’, which primarily adopted the ascetic literature from Byzantium and not the humanistic Greek literature that combined Christian and classical traditions. The Byzantine patriarchate controlled the religious and administrative network across Slavic lands, providing the main channel through which Greek texts and ideas were transmitted. One of the most compelling examples is the canonization of Vilnius martyrs in Constantinople around 1374 by Patriarch Philotheus Kokkinos and the creation of their vitae in Greek, followed by South Slavic and East Slavic translations (the Life (Passion) of Three Lithuanian Saints (Martyrs), Anthony, John and Eustathius).
The late-fourteenth-century cultural-political life of the GDL is characterized by its openness to outside (southern and western) influences and contacts combined with its devotion to the ecumenical Orthodox tradition inherited from the Kievan Rus’. This period was marked by strengthening ties with Byzantium and the Balkans on the one hand and the beginning of a long-term relationship with Catholic Europe on the other. At the same time, the interaction of the Orthodox religious tradition with the pagan customs of the Lithuanian élite led to the development of the idiosyncratic vernacular culture and the democratization of the literary Ruthenian language. This is especially manifest in historiographic writings (The Lithuanian chronicles).
The Slavic Orthodox revival in fourteenth-century Rus’ lands is connected with the activity of foreign bookmen, primarily from the Balkans, who brought to the Rus’ lands a new literary fashion (the panegyric style and the device of word-weaving) and new texts. The major figures of this trend include Cyprian and Gregory Camblak.
The GDL’s and Poland’s rulers were actively engaged in promoting church unification. Already in 1358, Charles IV negotiated with the Grand Duke Kęstutis over the conversion of Lithuania. After the evangelization of Lithuania, the King of Poland Jagiełło and the Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas pursued the church union to bring unity to their states inhabited by Catholics and Orthodox. At the request of Jagiełło and Vytautas, a Ruthenian delegation headed by Metropolitan Gregory Camblak traveled to the Council of Constance to discuss the possibility of church union. Camblak’s speech at the council is a skillfully crafted apology of the Rus’ Orthodox Church (the Sermon to the Council of Constance). “””””
So it is fair to say that the Poles ripped Lithuania of its RUS identity, after Lithuania felt threatened by the Germans and made the fatal mistake to partner with Poland.
#2.) Oder-Neisse Linie way too much in the West, cutting off too much lands off Germany.
Also agreed.
And My dead Grand-Ma would hug you.
There were other lines proposed at first. Some 200 km more in the East.
Especially: To whom did these lands go?? Not to Russia, but to the thankless Poles who hate Stalin, who hate Russia, who hate Germany (now rather love it too much) and who claim these lands “re-gained Polish territories”).
No joke, after 700/800 years they “re-gained” their “own” lands, because the Red Army died for it, then gave it to them. And look how immensely thankful these Poles are.
I would find the Oder-Neise line fair, if these areas would now be a part of the Soviet Union (Soviet Republic of Germany) or directly of Russia (as in the case of Kaliningrad).
But losing them for Poland was a huge waste.
I totally agree, thanks for your post.I know the Polish argument about needing to resettle the Poles from the Kresy (and some “Ukrainians” that they didn’t trust to leave in Eastern Poland (though those should have been resettled in Ukraine instead). But from the war Poland lost almost 6 million dead (at least 2/3 from post-war Polish lands.Plus they expelled from pre-war Polish territory almost a million Germans. And from the other pre-war German territory they gained (not including the areas I mentioned earlier) at least 6 million ethnic Germans. So how hard would it be to find room for the 4 million or so Poles needing resettlement without taking even more ethnic German land.It was greed on the Poles part. And the mistaken idea on the part of the Soviets that by favoring the Poles that way they would gain them as a friend. They never could figure out that Russophobia is deep in Polish society. Its not a question of “who” rules Russia, its Russia itself for the Poles. The historical hatred is too strong to easily cure like that.

Congress’ Test of Allegiance: US or Israel?
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has instructed the U.S. Congress to reject an international agreement constraining Iran’s nuclear program and to humiliate the sitting U.S. president, thus testing where the primary allegiance of most members of Congress lies, with the U.S. or Israel.
The choice facing members of the U.S. Congress in September’s “disapproval” votes could scarcely be clearer and has little to do with the merits of the international agreement reached on July 14 with respect to Iran’s nuclear program.
I am surprise that ‘any accident has ever happened to Netay”.
you know what, I think the best thing that can happen would be to give Netanyahoo what he wants. Then he’ll learn the lesson “be careful what you wish, for you may get it”.
Rejecting the deal will only make Obama/Kerry/USA into complete fools, and hasten the death of their hegemony, no other nations will follow anymore, except for the sycophantic former British Empire….
and not only that, it would also expose the sham that these Senators and Congressmen are “patriots”. They are patriots all right, patriots for Israel!!!!!
Just heard on NPR what Huckabee, in Israel on a paid-by-Israel junket, stated in re IDF strikes on Iran. Also regarding the legitimacy of settlements in the the Occupied Territories: namely, that they are part of the State of Israel, as far as he is concerned.
Since when does a senator make an independent foreign policy?
I thought this was a big no-no and a form of treason.
If Main Wuss Obama doesn’t react in some way to this sand being kicked in his face . . . well, I don’t know what to say. Obama seems to infect with wasting disease everything he touches: the Democratic Party, Health care reform, the executive branch of govt. Maybe he really is gay.
Not that there aren’t some very tough gays. such as Alexander the Great. But, Alexander the Great Obama is not. Excuse digression there . . .

US press blacks out Israeli defense minister’s citation of ‘Nagasaki and Hiroshima’ as model for dealing with Iran
This is a story about the media blackout of important information about Israel: that their leaders are seriously misguided.
Two weeks ago, Electronic Intifada reported public comments by Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon in which he cited Hiroshima and Nagasaki as role models in responding to Iran. Ya’alon suggested that Israel might have to nuke Iran in order to prevent a long war: “at the end, we might take certain steps.” Last week Ali Gharib picked up the EI report at Lobelog and linked to the video of Ya’alon, speaking in English on May 5 to the Israel Law Center (and posted by that rightwing group, which supplied a transcript).

Overpaying for gas by $75 million in just the second quarter alone is a loss for Ukraine, he said. And the sale of more expensive gas by a national company in the national currency can by no means be called diversification.

“Any attempt by the Russian-backed separatists to take over more of Ukraine’s territory would be unacceptable to the international community.”
And saw that. And I say the fascist regime in Ukraine holding on to occupied territory of Donetsk and Lugansk is unacceptable to the people of those regions. It really may need to come down to a toe-to-toe battle with NATO.And if so, once the bodies are buried and NATO is no more, maybe the World can get some peace.
This whole situation really stinks. Think about it : Kiev, one of the first Russian capitals (not counting Novgorod) is occupied by the enemy forces and the population of this entire area is mentally and spiritually totally poisoned. Why was it allowed to happen? Why Russia was always one step behind these events?
Obviously, at this point fighting Ukraine is like fighting a drone; you might shoot it down but the control center (Zionist masters) will be unaffected and shooting them down is a whole other story. I think Russia should focus on returning the same type of “favors” to the Zio-zombiies- creating as many “ukraines” as possible to keep zio-resources stretched all over the place until it all snaps and breaks from its own poison.
What else can Russia do?!..Any other ideas?
Orantos is the maiden guarded by the archangel Michael overlooking the Maydan Square. A child was born to her – a boy child – of rights and freedoms from oliogarchy and endless humiliations. The child was stolen on the day it was born by the G7 dragon. Orantos fled to the wilderness of old which is now called Donbass. From 22nd Febuary the count is 1280 days. Michael stands guard over her. Her child is being tortured. At the counts end the child is rescued.
Just yesterday I read some analysis in line with what Andrew is pointing in “El Territorio del Lince” blog:
“A year of tough Donbass”
http://elterritoriodellince.blogspot.com.es/2015/08/un-ano-del-donbas-resistente-os-prometi.html
1-.Neonazi junta in Kiev is failing miserably in its policy of concealing the death toll that has caused the Donbas aggression. (….)
(….) The Ministry of Defence has been forced to recognize that the death toll is “close to 2,300” to which we must add 273 missing. Far, very far from the figures that gave mothers in March (6,305 dead and 2,520 injured) but many more than so far recognized officially, who were1,924 dead. (….)
3 -. (….) The minimum wage is 42 euros per month (in 2010 it was 53), but the cost of living has increased 108%. For example, sunflower oil price has increased 200%, 197% fruit, eggs 181%, 175% bread or pasta and fish 171%. The average salary is 357 euros per month. (….)
. 4 – (….) Poroshenko is privatizing everything has and have been -under Europe and IMF requirements- and that has caused a dramatic increase in prices: the light has gone up 133% and 176% water, (….)
(….) Gas, its price has risen 553% since last summer (….)
5-. Censorship follows the agenda and there is already a list of 200 authors, filmmakers, writers, musicians and Russian singers with his works banned in Ukraine. It also includes Ukrainians who have written in Russian and are considered “traitors”. Yesterday 14 new names were added to that list.
6 – (….) Ukraine, which is a non-permanent member for two years the UN Security Council, has had to portray. Has admitted that the 2015 poverty has increased 33% and that “one of each three households with children are below the poverty line, reaching the figure to 42% when there are three or more children. “
Follows a series of 4 analysis:

The land, is fertile ground for the revolution, is that there is nothing to lose, and it’s always better to try to fight than die of hunger, cold and desperation. At least, as you fight, you feel the fraternal warmth of comrades playing their own skin with you.
They need leaders, and it seems that there is. Needed to know if they will be heard, followed by people. They should have an impeccable past, because if not, it will not work. People are not going to play life for anyone.
Needed to bring the message to people, organize resistance, in short, everything to do, but…..SPREADING HOPE!
What will more likely do it than anything else is the simple yet profound fact that Ukrainians simply won’t be able to PAY for necessities, not with the price increases and the non-matching income, and all it needs on top of that is a cold winter.
“Improve yourselves, because we will need all your intelligence. Shake yourselves, because we will need all your enthusiasm. Organize yourselves, because we will need all your strength.”
Antonio Gramsci
“because we will need all your strength.”
Mr. Gramsci lived in Mr. Gramsci’s time and had Mr. Gramsci’s experience.
“we….your”.
Even although Mr. Gramsci encouraged “organic intellectuals”, we/your illustrates the subject/object binary underpinning forms of commodity production, or if easier to assimilate, the basis of exceptionalism, which not only underpinned Narodnaya Volya’s strategies, Lenin’s “What is to be done” and Bolshevik practice, and led amongst other factors to the Bolshevik putsch and ensuing coertion, which mutated in form during the whole “history” of the Soviet Union, thereby contributing to the facilitation of why Russia is not the Soviet Union.
The world and phenomena within/upon it are laterally dynamic, so it is likely that “all your strength would not be needed”.
Of course as always test the hypothesis and don’t rely on “authorities”.
Well, of course we do not live Gramsci times, but he, who had plenty of time to think in jail, provided some good ideas, which of course we would have to adapt to time and place. We can also take advantage of Lenin´s some good ideas.
Look, it is that today, many people analyze and make forecasts, but little or almost no one stops to think about “what to do”.
And of course, if finally it result in that won´t be needed all our strength, well, better, we will lie in the sun, but, just in case, I would continue training…… See Novorossyians, who was going to say they would have to draw strength from wherever to resist already a whole year, and also Syrians.
“The conquest of cultural power is previous to the conquest of political power and this is achieved through the concerted action of the so called “organic intellectuals” infiltrated in all the media, means of expression and university”.
Antonio Gramsci
“Gramsci for beginners”

““Gramsci for beginners”
A blog is a broadcast medium.
However my associates and I tested various hypotheses.
The considered opinion was that your broadcast above was even more amusing than the one where you accused me of being an “American”.
Enjoy your evening.
I’m glad you have passed so well, you and your associates. For my part I enjoyed the afternoon on the beach. You should also take the air out occasionally…..
On occasion we should meet for tea and so we all laughed together….
“we all laughed together….”
There are plenty opportunities to laugh including but not limited to lack of understanding by some that broadcasts are made on transmission not after “moderation”.
When anything broadcast is “moderated” and in the perception of some “not published”, this not only gives rise to laughter but also interesting data – an example of “failure” becoming “a learning opportunity”.
“For my part I enjoyed the afternoon on the beach. ”
There are some forms of immersion that are beneficial as Archimedes established.
On relaxation, if it fails to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune you may find a short broadcast on relaxation appearing on the blog relating to S-300 Iran and Russia.
“almost no one”
Almost no-one is not no-one.
“take advantage of Lenin´s some good ideas.”
Some did which facilitated the transcendence of the Soviet Union into Russia.
The notion of the dictatorship of the proletariat – not by the proletariat or even a non-coercive option – and subsequent coertion in myriad forms proved particulary useful.
“but he (Mr. Gramsci), who had plenty of time to think in jail”
Thinking without testing hypotheses is a form of self-indulgence and a tool of deflection/dissipation.
Some might say Mr. Gramsci couldn’t test his hypotheses because he was in jail.
Others would ponder why Mr. Gramsci ended up in jail, even that he was not particularly fleet of foot.
Mr. Bordiga and his friends weren’t in jail so were able to test their hypotheses and help facilitate a state of affairs where Gladio and alliance of the Western “allies”, Christian Democrats – Mr. Gaspari and friends, with the “mafia” were/are prevalent in the Italian Republic until today.
These “failures” facilitated opportunities for some to learn from “events”, whilst others in areas such as Chile chose, consciously or unconsciously, to emulate/follow the thoughts and practices of Mr. Gramsci, with forecast results.
” I would continue training……”
Excellent – test hypotheses – don’t rely on “authorities”
“See Novorossyians, who was going to say they would have to draw strength from wherever to resist already a whole year, and also Syrians.”
Likely they get a little help from their friends – unlikely though that Mr. Gramsci is amongst the friends.
“What is called “public opinion” it is closely linked to the political hegemony, so it is the point of contact between the “civil society” and “political partnership” between consent and force. The State, when wants to start an unpopular action, proactively creates the appropriate public opinion, that is, organizes and centralizes certain elements of civil society.”
Antonio Gramsci
That is why for good or bad, the Chinese do not believe in “democracy”. A Chinese saying goes: “public opinions are like flowing water”, i.e. it can go anyway it chooses/ changes all the time….
According to ZeroHedge, “Novorossia” is ready to hold a referendum on joining Russia:
http://www.zerohedge.com/?page=1&name=davefowler%40hushmail.com&form_build_id=form-MyaK9W_qj86rFtw24vr6XfnbI5ki2sUPyOc913d_0gY&form_id=user_login_block&feed_me=&op=Log%20in
How true is this? If it is true, would Putin accept the result and let Novorossia become an federation province, or would he decline them?
In other words, hit the color revolutionaries with their own tactics. Color revolution the color revolutionaries. Nice. :)
Thank you Andrew for a grain of hope that the long-drawn-out suffering of the Ukrainian people and of the Donbass may be becoming a cliff-hanger instead.
I keep thinking about all those draft-dodgers; surely there must be many who wd fight in a just cause.
Thank you Andrew.
Another perspective/the other side of just how truly the “Quiet Americans” have taken over:
http://fortruss.blogspot.ca/2015/08/from-translator-by-their-very-nature.html
This is the other side of the coin – and no wonder Putin says Crimea is still in danger. China has sent medical aid to Donbass refugees. Also Donbass wants to hold a referendum in October to leave Ukraine and join Russia……
It may all start to fall apart soon but NATO wants more blood!
Hopefully it is not just wishful thinking. The Americans would not “abandon” Ukraine, because there are Jewish interests involved. “Neo-Khazaria” with the capital in Dnepropetrovsk is not a fanciful idea. It is the revival, in “creative” forms of the Jewish Soviet republic of yore. One must remember that one of the basics of that republic was that “the Jewish masses of all countries, in particular the United States would give substantial aid” to building up such a republic. What did Yatseniuk promised to the Americans? “We will be glad to see you as investors who will acquire Ukrainian state companies.”
They make no mysteries about:

Besides, Ukraine might be the pivot for the announced (by the Polish President Andrzej Duda on 6 August 2015) plans to build a regional alliance of Central and East European states, modeled on the Intermarium concept devised by the Marshal Pilsudski. Actually the model was rather the ‘The League of East European States or Federation of East European States (German: osteuropäischer Staatenbund)’, conceived during World War I by the Zionist Max Bodenheimer for the establishment of a buffer state (Pufferstaat) within the Jewish Pale of Settlement of Russia. Bodenheimer was a founder of the German Committee for Freeing of Russian Jews. The Committee drew up a plan to establish a buffer state between Germany and Russia, created from territory to be taken from Imperial Russia. It would be a federation of Poles, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians but “the Germans, and Jews would hold the power”.
The Intermarium project complemented Piłsudski’s other geopolitical vision—Prometheism, whose goal was the dismemberment of the Russian Empire and that Empire’s divestment of its territorial conquests. The project encompassed also the peoples of the Black and Caspian Sea basins — Ukraine, Don Cossacks, Kuban, Crimea, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Northern Caucasus.
I am surprised that Russia does not (or does not want to) establish a channel (Radio / TV or both) aimed at Ukrainian citizens, informing them, or at least giving them another point of view. Something similar to RT. Maybe it is done already, but I have not heard anything about it.
I like to think that the average Ukrainian may have an interest in acquiring points of view on a situation that affects him quite dramatically.
good article Andrew..thanks for very hopeful words. I’ve sent this on to all my friends in ‘other places’
If viewed under caution, including being cognisant of the implicit use of binary logic including the implicit good/bad assertions, the conflaton of wishes with “plans” and/or “strategies”, and the possibly misguided notions of facility and timetable based on linear projection, the link below may add additional data to your hypotheses.

Of course useful foolery is not a function of sole agency, and often encouraged by the wise.
Mr. Korybko,
I wanted to stay out of this one. “Please don’t make me angry.” My clothing will rip to shreds, and I will have to buy another outfit.
Wishful thinking will not turn defeat into victory. Neither will it change Zionist American imperialism, and the totalitarian Zionist American Oligarchs (or their government) into some democratic republican political force that will agree to share the wealth and live in peace with the rest of the world’s nations.
Rah! Rah! Sis poom bah! Too much noise; not enough music.
The Ukraine is not on the “Cusp of a Real uprising”… You recall that the previous coup d’etat (against Yanukovich’s government) was well organized by powerful outside forces.
Today’s competing forces are well delineated. The decisions they make are all that counts. The democratic republican Militia of Novorossya and the government of Russia are in one corner, and the Zionist Americans and their puppets are in the other.
Both sides are armed, and in motion. The inhabitants of the Kiev Zionist American fascist regime are unable (obviously) to resist, any more than America’s inhabitants can resist their own foreign dominated rulers. Listen!! America’s African Americans are unable to protect their own youth from repeated murders by the police. If they could protect their people, would they not do so?
You cannot get blood from stone, or revolutionaries from unarmed and frightened people who are devoid of revolutionary leaders with revolutionary organizations. There are no “Sons of Liberty” within America, or the Kievan occupied zone.
Most tellingly, the VISION is heavily opaqued. Even on this wonderful forum, the debate rages over Djugashvili, versus Democratic Republics. In the 2016 USA electoral Circus, without a VISION, the people will vote for Clinton-2, or mis-direction Sanders, or the approved opponents, Bush-3, or Casino Trump. And, 35 or so, might write in, as a “protest,” Ralph Nader.
Things are grey. The imperialist Yankees are leading the people’s Brooklyn Dodgers – 10 to 0. It is the bottom of the 9th inning, Sandy Koufax is batting, and Whitey Ford is pitching. The Dodgers might return to Brooklyn; but only after the revolution, not right now.
We don’t need a political fantasy escape. We have Prozac, or a 5th of our favorite for that. Accuracy in reporting, and a reborn -Sons (and Daughters) of Liberty- side by side with the VISION is what the Doctor prescribes.
The VISION allows.
1. We complain; that is necessary.
2. Then we name the illness (identify the mother).
3. Lastly, we prescribe the cure (that means we take the medicine and do whatever else is necessary to recover our health).
Long Live Dieudonné!
For the Democratic Republics!
