The US’ regional proxies in the Mideast and Ukraine are on a rampage against history, doing whatever they can to bury their associated countries’ past so that they can more easily build their version of a ‘utopian’ future. This trend of ‘historical warfare’ is endemic of the militarization of historical memory that the US is rolling out all throughout Eurasia. With ISIL grabbing global headlines over its seizure of Palmyra and the urgent threat this poses to the UNESCO world heritage site there, it’s worthy to revisit how the terrorist group’s anti-historical crusade actually doesn’t differ at all from what the Kievan Nazis are doing in Ukraine, and how all of this destruction connects together with the new type of asymmetrical warfare that the US is practicing across Eurasia.
(Physically) Breaking With The Past
ISIL and the Kievan Nazis are dead-set on eliminating any links to the past that don’t correspond to their radical ideologies of Wahhabism and Fascism, respectively. Here’s a brief overlook at the historical carnage they’ve carried out so far:
ISIL:
CNN reported in April about the sweeping trail of historical destruction that ISIL has left in its wake. Their surprisingly comprehensive listing detailed the damage done to the ancient cities of Nimrud, Khorsabad, and Hatra, as well as the destruction of the Mosul museum (now believed to have been filled with replicas ), the Mosul Library, and Jonah’s Tomb. Still, such examples should only be taken to represent the most large-scale attacks the group has carried out on historical objects, as it’s assured they’ve done much more damage to artifacts of relatively lesser importance or renown.
While some of their stunts were used for propaganda purposes, they don’t detract from the sincerity of the terrorists’ intent in forcefully trying to rewrite history. ISIL’s goal evidently appears to be the elimination of all unifying civilizational symbols that predate the dawn of Islam in order to create the false impression that the lands they currently occupy had no worthwhile history before this period. The group apparently believes that their militancy against historic objects somehow enhances their ‘legitimacy’ and makes them more appealing (and fearful) to others.
Kievan Nazis:
The pro-Western regime in Kiev also partakes in its own share of physical historical revisionism, being known for toppling over 500 Lenin monuments across the country in the past year alone. This violent obsession with Lenin is tragically ironic since the first Soviet leader was the one who actually created modern-day Ukraine, but to a Ukrainian Fascist, he represents nothing more than supposed ‘Russian control’ over the region, and consequently, must be eliminated from sight and mind.
Taking matters further, Kiev has banned communist symbols and even gone as far as changing both the date and manner in which Victory Day is celebrated. The country now enforces a poppy symbol instead of the St. George Ribbon and commemorates the event ( referred to the ‘Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation’) a day before Russia does, in accordance with the Western Europeans. What Kiev is aiming to do, then, is to force a type of distorted ‘historical continuity’ between the Banderites and post-coup Ukraine, selectively eliminating elements of its Soviet-era history that ‘inconveniently’ stand in the way of this myth but not address the documented Soviet creation of modern-day Ukraine.
Manipulating The Future
ISIL and Kiev’s physical attacks on history are directed just as much against the future as they are against the past. The ‘historical lustration’ that both are partaking in is purposed so that their controlled populations reinterpret the past in such a way as to facilitate very specific forthcoming ambitions. By changing history, they change the people’s identity, and with it, the course of their development. Thus, they’re using the tool of historical memory in order to forcefully alter the future trajectory of the territories they administer, no matter how brief their hold on them may be.
This is because the war they’re waging is astoundingly uneven, in that the aggressors are able to attack any historical monument or event of their choice while the defenders have nothing of equal value to counter against. Essentially, it’s a never-ending defensive war that must be fought by the true side of history, while the militant revisionists are free to choose when and where they launch their next offensive. In the case of Kiev, it controls most of the Ukrainian state and is thus presented with a carte blanche by the West, but ISIL doesn’t control all of Syria or Iraq, thus giving both civilization-states the chance to defend at least some of their physical heritage.
It must be emphasized that no matter how long ISIL or Kiev rule over their territories, they’ve already committed irreparable historical damage by this point. ISIL’s destruction of millennia-old sites speaks for itself, while Kiev’s campaign, despite not being as ‘grand’ as its Mideast counterpart’s, has succeeded in schizophrenically splitting the identity of the newfound state. Even if they’re eventually defeated, it’s impossible for each affected territory to return back to the status quo ante bellum, demonstrating that the ephemeral (and potentially, periodic) assassins of Wahhabism and Fascism are capable of carrying out immense historical damage in a very brief period of time. One should be reminded, however, that it’s not all doom and gloom, since the people’s resistance in fighting back against these evils can form the basis for a new historical memory that could help smooth over the divisive rifts of the past if the conflict ends in their favor.
Striking Similarities
ISIL and Kiev’s similarities don’t end with their violent revisionism and intended future manipulations, since they also share a few other critical details in common:
Asymmetry:
ISIL and the EuroMaidan Nazis both came to power in their respective areas via asymmetrical means, with a preference for urban terrorism. Upon reaching their current positions, they then began to implement hybrid conventional tactics as well; ISIL ‘seized’ American and Iraqi military vehicles while Kiev commandeered the entire Ukrainian Armed Forces. It therefore stands as a matter of fact that both entities follow the same military patterns in pursuing their objectives, and it’s no coincidence that both of these (overthrowing the Syrian government and weakening Iraq, and expelling Russians and Russian influence from Ukraine) overlap with the US’ own grand strategic goals and had direct American support in their origins.
American Patronage:
This brings to the forefront the fact that both groups were created by the US, although at times they happen to fall outside of its direct control. Much has already been written about the US’ $5 billion support to Ukrainian regime change operations and Victoria Nuland’s active participation in EuroMaidan, yet ISIL’s connections to the US establishment have evaded considerable mainstream media attention. Russia, however, hasn’t kept silent about the link between the two, with Lavrov decrying the US’ strategy of ‘good terrorist, bad terrorist’ and even the Director of GRU himself taking aim against Washington’s creation of Islamic terrorism. No matter which way one tries to spin it, both ISIL and Ukrainian Fascism owe their current forms to American ‘seed funding’, no matter how shameful this fact may be to the majority of the country’s taxpayers that unwittingly contribute to it.
‘Revolution’:
The Wahhabis and Fascists are both vehemently dedicated to overthrowing the stable and established orders that came before them, be it secular republicanism or pragmatic (but far from perfect) East-West balancing. They envision imposing the complete opposite of once was, which is represented by a Wahhabi dictatorship and a Fascist, Western-fawning state, respectively. Through their social media exploitation and propaganda campaigns, both radical movements attempt to market themselves as ‘romantic revolutionaries’ to the droves of wayward and vulnerable youth that constitute their core recruits. They’ve manipulated the semi-global zeitgeist of ‘anti-government suspicion’ (crafted and proselytized by the West for the purpose of promoting Color Revolutions [ironically via government hijacking of the Wikileaks and Snowden causes]) to ‘legitimize’ their state-building and revisionist attempts in forcibly attacking historical memory.
Concluding Thoughts
The US’ support of militant historical revisionists in the Mideast and Ukraine is extremely significant in signaling a dangerous escalation of postmodern tactics and weaponry. The utilization of historical memory as a physical weapon in the battlefield for ‘hearts and minds’ exceeds what developed society has witnessed since the end of World War II. While such backwards tactics occasionally reared their ugly head from antiquity until 1945, it seemed like the world was finally on the verge of realizing how unnecessary and harmful they are to human civilization when ISIL and the Ukrainian Nazis began their anti-historical campaigns (with the former destroying things that hadn’t been targeted for thousands of years by a multitude of adversaries). The greatest shame is that the US’ acceptance and support of both groups might herald in a larger return to historic savagism, where no monuments or artifacts are considered ‘sacred’ to the historical memory of either the battleground state or civilization as a whole. Opening these floodgates would portend negatively for all that mankind has accomplished in the past 70 years, but bearing in mind that the US is crazily intent on creating chaos to maintain its grip on Eurasia, it should be expected that more ‘historical assassins’ will emerge in the coming years as the New Cold War intensifies.
OT
Australia’s Richardson (not the brightest bulb):
“For the first time we will have a neighbor – Indonesia – which will have a bigger economy than our own.
“This will require a psychological adjustment by Australia, as will an Indonesia which continues to embed democratic norms. We will need to rethink engagement strategies and expectations.”
Yep, got to devise engagement strategies for people who embed democratic norms– I mean, that’s a hazard.
I understand that poor Richardson is a regular Mrs. Malaprop.
There is not a single diplomat in the Australian government. They are all pretty much of Abbott “shirt-fronting” calibre.
Two citizens were executed this month in Indonesia for drug exportation offences. They’d been in prison for 10 years. The government did nothing in that time to make some deal to get them home or get their death sentences repealed. Then at the last minute they started making demands and threats to the Indonesians, shrilly announcing what they were going to say to them beforehand and publicising replies received in private talks. They made threatening statements about Indonesia’s “human rights record” huh??? they have capital punishment, what HR violation is that? it IS a firing squad, not stoning. They tried to get the Indo supreme court declare unconstitutional the Indo president refusal to give (his gift) clemency. When the execution went ahead anyway they withdrew the ambassador.
Oh and how did they get caught? the Australian Federal Police had tipped off the Indonesian police — knowing full well Indonesia has a death penalty for this type of drug trafficking offence.
Long and short of it is, Indonesia was deeply insulted, particularly about private Foreign Minster level conversations being (disapproving) published. They will not want to talk or trade for months, and not want to join anything Australia joins. So they are likely to be on the opposite side in any new relationships that develop in the region.
Meanwhile they have arrested a bunch of kids, the oldest 19, some as young as 14, for “terrorism” and are proposing to cancel the citizenship of any dual citizen who goes to “join terrorists” without any trial or evidence other than that they travelled to eg Syria…. two years ago. Millions will be spent on teaching teachers how to “recognise radicalization” in schools. Well, THAT is going to be nice and non-racists, I am sure. On the side,m they’re having a Parliamentary inquiry into the scheme whereby food manufacturers can get their products certified as “halal” — because of allegations the certifying bodies MIGHT BE sending the proceeds (fees) to support terrorists (because , well, they’re Muslim, right?). This is being touted as a “Muslim tax” but nobody’s said a word about the fees for certifying food as Kosher.
Indonesia is Muslim by the way. And a fair few of their people, educated ones, are living here and seeing this circus going on.
Chinese are being blamed for high real estate prices, with racist leaflet drops and demonstrations at the Chinese embassy. This will help scuttle planned trade deals with China, which is in any case often blamed for negotiating “too low” a price for our coal or iron ore. But it’s hard to find any non-Chinese manufactured goods in the shops here.
It’s one thing being a 5-eyes, another altogether to have a tin ear and snake tongue as well. I am barracking for the other side. Go China! Go Russia! Go BRICS! Go the Free World!
I’m not sure how Australia thinks they will survive after losing China as a customer.China was Australia’s hope to sell their raw materials to for future prosperity. Now as they show China the finger, and join the US in China bashing. I figure China will see what materials they can get elsewhere and drop Australian goods. It might take a year or two. With them cutting the trade down yearly until they’ve replaced it all.But as for Australia, they are dreaming if they think they can replace the China market.
To understand Australia today you must recognise that after forty years of Rightwing dominance, total selling-out by the so-called ‘Labor’ Party, the move ever further Right by the so-called ‘Liberals’ and the culmination of that process in the election of a truly morally insane psychopath, Tony ‘Climate Change is Crap’ Abbott as PM, the country is mad, bad and dangerous to know.
The Abbott regime is rapidly turning quite openly fascistic, a familiar tendency in a West where the ruling elites have been purged of all but arrogant incompetents and psychotics. Bullying is like a pseudo-religion, infecting society from politics down through business to all social spheres in employment and even the health system and schools. We are currently investigating the tsunami of child sexual abuse over recent decades (earlier victims are dead, of course)led by the Catholic Church, other ‘religions’ like the Salvation Army and State Institutions. There is also an epidemic of family violence with a couple of women every week murdered by their partners.
Society itself, after years of bribery at election time (although always biased towards the rich)is greedy (it’s called ‘aspiration’ here, which I thought was a nasty medical condition)materialistic, anomic, fraught with tension and burdened with debt (we have a gigantic property bubble)and crudely uncultured. Climate destabilisation denial is rife and the regime declares coal a ‘boon to humanity’.
Our elite will do anything Mordor-on-the-Potomac tells them to do. Cutting our own throats by destroying China wouldn’t occur to them to be a problem. It’s the old Australian obsession with the Yellow Peril, that never really went away, and the MSM including, in particular the Government organs, are going mad with Sinophobic hatred, much of it becoming crudely racist. You can see the signs of a society in the early stages of its final struggles, the death-throes becoming more plain by the day. But that’s true of all the West, which is going barking mad at the prospect of their eclipse and the rise of China et al. I’ve long been convinced that Western elites would NEVER tolerate China’s rise, and it looks like the evil hour of confrontation and war is at hand.
@ Andrew Korybko,
Thank you for a coherent presentation of current day events and your analysis thereof. Loved it.
I do have one question though; how far is the US cabal able to reach inside the ME region, without the active help of the Apartheid State?
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the positive feedback! To your question, the US works hand-in-glove with Israel and Saudi Arabia to pursue their joint objectives in the Mideast. I wrote about this in-depth in a previous article published with The Saker:
/exceptionalists-vs-integrationalists-the-eurasian-wide-struggle/
Hope this answers your question more in detail.
Best,
Andrew
Report on foreign contractors in Donbass fighting for the Ukies. (Several thousand).

The Ministry of defence DND on the number of mercenaries from the US, Poland, Israel and the Caucasus, fighting on the side of the APU | Russian spring
The Ministry of defence DND announced data on the composition and quantity of foreign mercenaries fighting on the side of the Kiev authorities.
The journalists said today the Deputy commander of the corps of the military Department Eduard Bacurin.
In D. p. Verhnotoretske identified to the company (from 60 to 100 people) personal staff of Georgian volunteer battalion”. At the checkpoint “Breeze” ,between Gorlovka and Dzerzhinsk, installed company of U.S. servicemen and Poland,” he said.

“On the territory of a psychiatric hospital in Acrobalance were identified volunteers from Arab countries. It is not excluded that this unit is directly related to the terrorist organization “Islamic state*”
That’s not funny, sort of.
Ben, IS/Daash is, like al-Qaeda, the al-Nusra Front etc, a US creation in league with Israel and the Wahhabist butchers. Just as the USA flew al-Qaeda killers into Bosnia (including visits from bin Laden) during the ’90s, to join in the butchery, and were the force behind the Chechen jihadists, they will certainly utilise the psychotic murderers of IS in Ukraine. Then they will be unleashed in the Caucasus, Xinjiang etc, wherever their US creators need a murderous death-squad army to sow terror.
Thank you Andrew for your clear presentation of the issue.
I think the destruction of historical memory is patterned from any cult’s imperative to destroy what preceded it in the mind of the cult members.
The West is a Cult of Liberalism at heart. It is fierce against any belief system that does not adhere to total acceptance of all its deviant tenets.
The desire to crush Orthodoxy, the need to break down natural father-mother families, the onslaught against males, manhood and boyhood in favor of gays, transvestites, transexuals and bi-sexuals are part of the Cult of Liberalisms destructiveness and chaos-making.
It’s destructiveness is social in one sphere, and martial in the other sphere of terrorism and destabilization proxy warfare.
However, it is all from one fountainhead. The hegemon is militaristic and it is sociopathic. They feed their need for triumphalism and warped “exceptionalism” through this chaos and destruction.
All the leaders (officials and ideologues) and practitioners are pathological in every aspect of human behavior. HIstory is one target, but ruling over humanity in every process of human behavior is the holy grail for these megalomaniacal cult leaders.
Change or die, obey or die, serve the cult or die. It looks like hegemony, but its core is the Cult. (Lots of names for it; but the secrecy and satanism are the key.)
Larchmonter…from yesterday..that video of that guy from Business Insider…I sent it to a friend who replied…”Run up towards Clinton campaign…”…that makes sense because she’s (Clinton) always saying how dangerous Putin is…and with that popularity ???? He’ll have to be taken out at any cost !!!
HIllary isn’t there yet. The challenge from the Party’s left is in the race. Martin O’Malley will do heavy damage to her in the primary challenge and debates. This is the Elizabeth Warren side acting against the Clintons. It is also Obama’s stranglehold on the Democratic Party machinery. Clinton doesn’t get it until she gets the nomination. That is why she wants 2.5 billion now. She has a weak organization of her own. Bill plus her two brothers and John Podesta. They lost the last time.
I have a feeling that she will not get the nomination as everyone thinks. And the world situation is such that there are few who want her. Bill is overthetop with greed.
It’s a long run from now until the nomination. Hillary is very damaged goods. Nothing like 2008.
Yes, Putin is a target, but he always has been. Not much to fear. The Russian circle around him is very protective and the people realize they are under existential threat. He’s their tsar. They embrace him for all the right reasons. He’s there for ten more years. Not to worry.
The West are discovering their descent is well-established. They have the usual mental cases as spokespeople saying wholly incoherent things. It’s a Ship of Fools from Washington to Brussels.
Thanks for reply…yes, I hope you’re right…she certainly is damaged goods…and that email scandal almost seemed planted.
Mr. 445 —
Sorry to seem to be picking on you this morning, that is not really my intention.
However,
“Martin O’Malley will do heavy damage to her in the primary challenge and debates. This is the Elizabeth Warren side acting against the Clintons.”
It is not at all clear that Mr. O’Malley is on “the Elizabeth Warren Side.” Bernie Sanders is, however, occupying that position. There is every likelihood that Mr. O’Malley is acting as the “anti-Sanders” spoiler, draining resources and attention away from Sanders and earning himself a spot as Hillary’s running mate.
This is, of course, conjecture, but I think that it is more likely than what you have proposed.
Mr 445 —
You are mistaken in thinking that the Empire-backers in the US are “promoting homosexuality.” In fact, it is the right-wingers who share your bigotry who are promoting war and chaos around the world, while those who defend Russia and the people of the Donbas are are also protective of all minorities, including gender minorities. It is the Nazis — and you — who promote hatred toward them.
If postings here at this site constitute a reliable guide, then it would appear that the sole purpose of the Eastern Orthodox church is to promulgate homophobia and persecute sexual minorities – persons who were born as who they are, and who had no say in the matter.
This unhealthy obsession with private activities in other person’s bedrooms, however, is a chosen lifestyle, and is more than likely a surface indication of even worse, more deeply-lying psychological problems.
That would make sense, as all the authoritative, or “revealed” religions are the products of diseased minds, having been dreamed up by barbaric desert tribesmen whose savageries shocked even the primitive societies around them.
It has been said that “Christianity would get along very well without Jesus, but it could not survive the loss of the devil.” In other words, these organized superstitions – systematized irrationality – must have enemies in order to maintain the cohesion of their willfully deluded sheep, and the authority and perquisites of their leaders.
In promoting hatred toward any set of minority persons you are aligning yourself precisely with the Nazis, and not with the lovers of freedom and democracy.
“empire backers”= zionists. the destruction of western civilization means destroying everything which helped create it, especially Christianity. “obsession with bedroom behavior”? what a pathetic attempt to sidestep the issue: Our faith says homosexuality is a sin; there are many scientific reasons to avoid disease from sticking your reproductive organ where it doesn’t belong- idiot. Now we will be burned for not wanting to bake the faggots a cake. keep your business out of our noses.
Punishment for sins is meant to come in the next life, from God, isn’t it?
Who are you to force others to live by your beliefs? and to punish them for living by their own? (apart from the fact that your Church can forbid homosexual behaviour because the person has some choice in that, but cannot forbid being homosexual which is now known to be caused by hormonal changes during gestation and totally beyond the individual’s control.
If you believe it’s a sin, don’t do it. The same applies to oral sex or sex before marriage – don’t do it. But get off other people’s backs about it.
Most´liberals´ have no desire at all to ´crush Orthodoxy´!
Please, let us be aware there are differences between Europe (I don´t mean the sickness which is in power), and the Russian ideals, just as they exist between China and Russia.
Many of us hate the course taken by our ´leaders´, have Much sympathy for our brothers and sisters opposing US hegemony, but still believe in liberal values. Multipolar, that is!!! Not everyone in the world is Russian, but some of us are still fans!
I sympathise with your comment. I think the problem is the term “liberal”, which could mean different things depending on where you came from or where you are located. I really think the term “liberal” differs quite a bit if you are Russian vs non-Russian. From all the articles I read that are Russian related (including the Saker), liberal has negative connotations, as they seemed to be the group that was/is responsible for wanting “to be close to the West”, i.e. the Atlantic-Integrationists, to use the Saker’s phrase.
Natoists are the biggest liars.
Yes Andrew that’s so true about history…Baghdad and all those beautiful buildings everywhere that have been bombed out of existence….like someone’s trying to affect humanity’s view of history. A friend of mine said to me once…that humanity is nothing without its history…..I think that’s true.
Oh this is such a sad truth about these wonderful heritage sites…but truly, all great works will one day perish…now its sooner…but even earth itself will one day be gone….but humanity will rise into the higher realms mature and educated by our time on earth…and these terrible deeds being done will never win…the people to come in the future will perhaps rebuild these sites…that are often not very well looked after anyway.
By the way, OT….the Sphinx….its body is much bigger than that human face it has…and there’s a theory that its much older than ancient Egypt..and that one of the Pharoahs took off its real face..which was a lion….and put a human face there, much smaller. So perhaps it isn’t even a modern phenomenon…this destroying ancient monuments.
Nothing new under the sun….the Ancient Egyptian’s went through this for centuries. What Russia has to invest in is buying up some of the Western Press just the way the West does all over the World.
Warsaw was 80% obliterated in WW2. The Old Town was completely rebuilt. Well not totally the same, as they worked off photos and paintings, but they tried, and came close. Buildings going back as far as 13th Century were rebuilt. Bricks. framing. doors, hardware etc were rescued from the rubble and reused, or used as the sample to copy from for the replacement parts.
Of course it is fake. But the very fakeness, the very inaccuracy, is part of the history. It now displays not only the rich and long history of the city, but the history of its destruction – and its residents’ indestructible spirit. Generations of youth have had the cultural continuity of growing up with the (almost) same surroundings as their parents did.
And it must have been comforting for people to at least see and stroll through the “lovely old buildings, ” when their lovely old residential houses had had to be urgently replaced with ugly and cramped blocks of flats.
And the bringers of ‘good’ news have this in store for us today;
“Assad’s Army May Be Losing Its Biggest Backers: Russia And Iran”
Yes, the Syrian ‘opposition’ said so, so it’s true!
This destruction of historical memory is soooo typical for patrons of Kiev Junta and ISIS – Vatican and Israel respectively. It’s important to realize there is only few thousands of active Nazis in Ukraine (mostly football hooligans by origin) but millions of Roman Catholics (branded in many ways…) in their most vicious form. BTW, Bandera was also Roman Catholic. Especially now, under Jesuite Pope, whole Roman Church is making what Jesuites did always – cultural genocide (remember poor Aztecs!) and divide&control.
Miroslav:
“Poor Aztecs”? You really think that the eradication of the Aztec cult of human sacrifice was a bad thing? And you blame this on the Jesuits even though Cortez conquered Mexico decades before St. Ignatius founded the Jesuits?
What if all this supposed blood lust of the Aztec’s is a bit exaggerated by the Spanish?
The arrival of the Spanish meant the death of 90% of the natives.
You call this a good thing Andrew?
How the Aztec’s were is none of our business.
If you OK the genocide happened here you can start OK-ing a lot more. Aztec’s were pikers compared to the West for example.
I do agree with you on this. I mean, who knows how much of the Aztec practices legend is true, after all they are no longer around to debate on this topic! It is however true that they are now extinct!
I am reminded of some tribes in the Pacific there used to be head hunters. Now that would a problem in the modern world where people would travel everywhere… but they have sinced lost that culture I believed, but I don’t think it will be worth complaining!
you’re an Aztec denier…get real guy…even just a few human sacrifices is off the top….the temples had elaborate ditches that ran with blood and there were many many Mexican people that were terrified of the cult….
So, the Spaniards — them of Inquisition fame — could go there and teach them “human rights and democracy” ??? at gunpoint? remind you of anyone we know lately?
Human sacrifice and cannibalism were features of many earlier societies. They must have had their reasons. I bet if they hadn’t had gold and a lot of it, the Spaniards would not have worried about the sacrifices.
“Human sacrifice and cannibalism were features of many earlier societies. They must have had their reasons.”
Yes, like all other biological groups they had overpopulation problem and they did not have The Pill at least that is how Maya viewed it but Aztecs and some other local tribes who partook from the Mayan civilisation lost the reason and kept the rituals, which resulted in irrational increase of the sacrifice numbers.
It’s a great pleasure to read Andrew Korybko every week or so as he enlarges his take on what’s going on, and the context of history within which it’s all happening.
Somehow I have the feeling that the forces that put into play the historical revisionism described in the article have spent far less time creating this activity than we on the “victim” side have spent in deconstructing it and understanding it.
And this is because we intend to fight back, and we already are, in writing and reading and discussing this article, that lays bare the plan of the enemy and shines an incorruptible clarity on it. We live in an age when the moves of the enemy are seen clearly enough to conceive of the counter. I call this good. Thanks Andrew!

The mark of sanity is to know oneself – which is only to say to become familiar with oneself and not be ashamed of oneself, with all one’s flaws and faults – because this is the only basis upon which wisdom will descend.
The opposite is to deny one’s memory, to live fixedly, not in the present but in a construct of current activity that conceals the true present. This is how insanity lives.
And yet there is a price to pay for violating the collective memory of millions of people. That memory exists not only in individual minds but in a kind of collective radiance, a subtle but substantial form, to be reckoned with. It will fight back.
And as for the passage of time, the key point is that nothing ever goes away. There’s nowhere for it to go. We can’t run away from anything, ever.
Thank you very much, I’m glad you enjoy my articles!
That is extremely well written.
Also worth bearing in mind is the whole history of the destruction of information/knowledge/truth for the benefit of militarisation, which does in fact go back a very long time.
The internet is a more powerful tool for the dissemination of false narrative certainly, but how powerful actually, in the face of the incredible ignorance and indifference of the masses. And this bland indifference partly the result of endless brain washing from TV, media, etc, over decades.

However the US dull-heads twist the parameters in their war-gaming – the US always loses, Russia-China always wins!
Therefore the oligarchs and their yes-men decided to stick to what they do best: Hollywood movies, gangster rap, Mossad massacres, Boston bombings, pornography, 24/7 idiot talk on all channels, Pentagon black magic, CIA torture, printing fake money to hire zillions of mercenaries, agents, snipers, spies, lawyers, honey-traps, CEOs and an Obama here and there. Not to mention Kerrys’s horse.
The overriding motto of the US-Reich’s master plan: By fraudulent Banking we shall win all wars.
‘I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.’
Thomas Jefferson
“I set out on this ground, which I suppose to be self evident, ‘that the earth belongs in usufruct to the living’:”
“Then I say the earth belongs to each of these generations, during it’s course, fully, and in their own right. The 2d. Generation receives it clear of the debts and incumberances of the 1st. The 3d of the 2d. and so on. For if the 1st. Could charge it with a debt, then the earth would belong to the dead and not the living generation.”
Thomas Jefferson.
Let us help the next generation to start anew.

That quote is unfortunately false, not related and is from his book published prior to the whole central bank issues.
To put it short, it’s fictional.
It’s a good quote anyway.
So toppling Lenin statues is now a crime against history? The tragic of recent Russian propaganda is that even where it is correct, the same accusations could be made against with even more justification against their own side. Nothing is so blatant as the ongoing attempt to whitewash the deeds of Stalin and his fellow bolsheviks.
@anonymous 11:09am UTC
I have a strong revulsion for Bolsheviks, but I would like to point out a few things. Judging by your comment, it may well be that revisionism has already affected your perspective on historical circumstances. Toppling Lenin statues in Ukraine can be seen as a crime against history considering it was Lenin who created the Ukrainian SSR out of the Tsarist imperial provinces of Malorussia. Lenin is Ukraine’s spiritual Godfather and trying to deny it through destruction of his monuments won’t change that crucial fact. If the Ukrainians truly hate Lenin so much, why not undo Lenin’s work and return all the provinces to Russia which was handed to them on a Soviet platter?
Bolshevik crimes, including those of Stalin, are well documented by both western and Russian historians. Russian students are required to learn about the horrors under Stalin through compulsory reading of Solzhenitsyn’s works. Does that seem like whitewashing to you? If we want to look at whitewashing, we ought to look at the history of other empires. Perhaps take a look at Winston Churchill killing around 4 million Indians in 1943 through starvation (I’ve used Churchill as an example as he was Stalin’s historical contemporary) . He himself mocked the famine by lamenting that Gandhi wasn’t among the dead and by measuring the worth of starving Indians with that of healthy Greeks. Having scoured many British school textbooks, I have found no mention of this blatant genocide.
We can now surmise that atrocities occurred under Stalin, Hitler and even Churchill. However, the respective populations of the former two leaders openly acknowledge such evils. I await the day that Britain reminds her population about Churchill’s misdeeds, instead of planting his face on new banknotes.
Great info, you are absolutely correct!
alan, the death-tolls from all the Great Famines in India under English rule number in the tens of millions. The Great Bengal Famine of the 1940s, with its ten million or so victims, was the last. Under Indian rule before and after English rule such famines were unknown. Meanwhile England was looting India of trillions in wealth, running the greatest drug-trafficking racket of the day, the opium trade with China and looting much of Africa. It’s known as Western ‘Judeo-Christian’ moral values’.
I look at Lenin statues as symbols of history and national identity and don’t think they should be violently torn down to make an aggressive political statement. If people and city councils democratically decide to do away with them, that’s one thing, but when external forces support the destruction of history within a targeted state in order to achieve their own objectives, I’m absolutely opposed to it.
I agree! As “goblin” mentioned on his video about maidan. That Russians should make no mistake. The Bandera destroying statues of Lenin aren’t about Lenin. They are doing that as attacks on Russia, and Russians.
So rejecting Lenin (and Stalin?) is now by default an insult against Russia, or what?
In the Ukrainian context it is, otherwise why would they knock it over? Anti Communism as well? Those people who were hoping on the Maidan have never read the Communist Manifesto, let alone Lenin, otherwise they wouldn’t have been out there.

NATO/KLA is engaged in historical warfare in Kosovo, too. The aim is to wipe out any traces of the original inhabitants as part of the “ethnic cleansing” campaign.

Meanwhile Kiev is making history again.
They’ve started a fifth wave of mobilisation. Just saw a (boring) video on Cassad, showing them getting onto a works bus to demand papers and force people to sign up for military duty. Instantly. Off the bus. Many people didn’t show papers.
So they press-gang people to drag them into the army, don’t give them even boots while they’re training, then give them boots that melt in the first rain, then give them no training and rotten expired food (one report said they found some 1960’s tins of food!!!! speaking of history) then somehow expect them to win? These guys are going to surrender just to get a meal and a shower.
On a happier note, I doubt any of these people, or anyone else on the bus, are going to love the government OR what it stands for. These people will be easy to unbrainwash.

You don’t need to be a friend of the bunch in Kiev or Lvov to nevertheless realize that the coming fall of the US empire will bring massive changes with it in the realm of history writing.
History is written by the victors and soon neither the USSR nor USA will be around to write the history to their advantage.
And the presence of the internet will ensure that no centralized body (Washington, Moscow, Berlin, Paris, whatever) will be able to prevent it, at the risk of making a fool of himself.
The most wise thing to do after the fall of the US empire is to radically open the hermetically sealed war archives and face some very hard truths about WW1, communism and WW2 and start a new episode of history with a clean slate.
Well said! Truth will out!

Can you please explain to me, why is poppy worse symbol than St. George Ribbon? I remember poppies from the time I lived in UK and I think it is beautiful symbol. St. George Ribbon is something Russia started to use again after 2005 and has no public significance to either Ukrainian military veterans nor youths.
It wasn’t to make a value judgement about the poppy symbol that I brought it up, but to illustrate how Ukraine’s commemoration of its most tragic historical period is being hijacked by Western symbols in order to change the country’s identity. And yes, you’re right that the St. George symbol only came back into use recently, but since then it’s becoming an icon for Victory Day. It’s an externally imposed standard for Ukrainians to have historical civilizational symbols banned and foreign non-related ones like the poppy promoted.
St. George Ribbon is as alien icon as poppy to Ukrainians – they should be free to use either or both: both are foreign. The ribbon of Saint George is used by people as a Russian patriotic symbol – in Ukraine the symbol has become widely associated with Russian nationalist and separatist sentiment, which is the reason, why Ukrainans are hesitant to use it. I am sure, that Ukrainans would have no problem using that symbol, if it is associated only with WW2 and memorial of victory day.
Esten,
If you lived in Gestapo Land as I do, you would realise the poppy was a symbol of ‘sacrifice’, the St George ribbon was the Guards ribbon,a symbol of courage.
“The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem In Flanders Fields. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I; their brilliant red colour became a symbol for the blood spilled in the war.”
The difference is:
The Bw-itish elite sacrificed their young, the Soviet young sacrificed themselves.
The only Ukranian veterans are Soviet veterans, you sound to me as though you are un-educated, as to the real reasons, ordinary people are led to the slaughter!.
Out of curiosity – and what country would yours be? Nazi Germany with GESTAPO? East Germany with STASI? Soviet Union with NKVD? Or maybe Russia with Oprichniki?
Yes – British elite sacrified their youth just as Stalin sacrified Russian one. We should memoriate the dead and not praise the war. No sane person think that there is something good about war.

Heterodox Economics Newsletter
[embedded links at web page]
Issue 181 June 01, 2015 web pdf Heterodox Economics Directory
This issue of the Newsletter includes a series of rather hasty call for papers, job postings and grant opportunities. On top of the respective list-of-hasty-pieces is surely 1st international Post-Keynesian conference in Grenoble with the deadline for submissions ending today. So scrutinize this issue immediately to be prepared for all upcoming events and deadlines;-)
On the other hand, I have been told that some of our readers, who have not (yet) submitted to the natural hastiness prevailing in times of a global neoliberal (re-)organization of academia, still have the time to read books. These readers might be interest to know that the World Economics Association (WEA), the world’s biggest get-together of critical, pluralist and/or heterodox economists of various sorts, has put out its own book series aiming to provide introductions to topics of main or casual interest to heterodox economists. This undertaking looks like an interesting and worthwhile project deserving closer inspection. Hence, the next issues of the Newsletter will regularly include some of the WEA-titles in its section on books and book series. Having said that, I should also add that submission to the section on books and book series are always welcome. Simply send us an email or use or the Newsletter submission device.
Finally, I have noted that the confusion in mainstream economics regarding the question what constitutes “scientific progress” has reached a new peak, which is exemplified by a popular piece on “mathiness” in economic research authored by Paul Romer (here is the paper from AER-Proceedings-issue, from which I quote in what follows, as well as a link to his blog). Based on a basic intuition that something about the usage of mathematics in economics is dubious Romer invokes the idea that “science” – just like group think – is defined as “a process that does lead to shared consensus” (which is true nowadays for core statements in the natural sciences, but wrong for the edge of research and utterly wrong if you look at the history of natural science, not even to speak of the social sciences). In his tale on mathiness Romer identifies two camps: one of these camps is really “engaged in science” and it contains archetypes of academic credibility and scientific honesty like Robert Solow, Gary Becker and (of course) Paul Romer. On the other hand, Romer identifies a competing camp consisting of academic evil-doers, who aim for promoting “academic politics” by employing “mathiness” as means to “masquerade [politics] as science”. Scholars as diverse as Ed Prescott, Robert Lucas, Thomas Piketty and Joan Robinson are on this team (Gary Becker, who liked to justify the death penalty with recurse to rational choice theory and a set of econometric estimations has already been chosen for the other team; what a pity!).
The truth about Romer’s take on economics is that controversial debate in mainstream macro nowadays is really often ad-hoc and driven by ideological preferences explicated by different variations of some set of mainstream workhorse-models. The dashingly absurd thing about this piece is that it actually locates paradigmatic division in economics within a Manichean fairy-tale-style dichotomy, which is, incidentally, in exact accordance with Paul Romer’s personal evaluation of contributions and, accidentally, also provides a clear division between the white knights of the profession and its black sheep. His implicit suggestion is to purge the latter by “flushing mathiness out into the open”, which practically amounts to further narrowing mainstream economics. My take is that this paper is not an example for internal criticism within the mainstream. Rather, it should be seen as a double confession, proving not only a conformist fundamentalism within the profession, which substitutes any serious engagement with pluralism as an epistemological concept, but also the specific desire of the paper’s author to reside in the focal point of his suggested theoretical convergence.
Best,
Jakob

Mathiness in the Theory of Economic Growth
By Paul M. Romer
“Academic politics, like any other type of politics, is better served by words that are evocative
and ambiguous, but if an argument is transparently political, economists interested in science
will simply ignore it. The style that I am calling mathiness lets academic politics masquerade
as science. Like mathematical theory, mathiness uses a mixture of words and symbols, but
instead of making tight links, it leaves ample room for slippage between statements in natural versus formal language and between statements with theoretical as opposed to empirical
content.”
——
It’s not clear to me that ambiguity serves politics well on any level (and cybernetics is an area where such things — control of systems — moves to put ambiguities into a more scientific and defined context, but Romer’s point about mathiness and disguising politics as science is well taken, and certainly applies to economics (cf Steve Keen’s work). Political support for austerity is one area where confidence in what has been said and the lame neoclassical theories should have blown apart, and yet the neolibs (and neocons, fascists, imperialists, etc).persist, and make good salaries doing it. But then, they don’t even stick to factual history, do they? (Touching on the topic of this post.)
OK — new word, coined for the occasion: episte-mule- ogy — the philosophy of stubbornly referring to so-called knowledge and how we know things based solely on political ideology and who profits from it. The old ‘we create the reality and journalist just try to keep up reporting on it. Mathiness, like truthiness, comes in handy for that — updated refinements of Bullsh*t for the New American Century. I think we can understand that even without going through the math equations.
Yes we can’t have unequivocal scholars like Marxists in the Academy now can we?
Nimrod was 30 centuries old, had all kinds of surviving stuff: bas-reliefs, archways, etc. Relics that dated from 10 centuries before Christ. And they bulldozed it.
All the history that’s being made today is by definition going to be falsified– I mean if they can’t tell the truth about today’s events today, there’s no possibility of telling the truth about it tomorrow.
I discovered long ago that you get better historical accounts if you go to the library & request the books written in the 19th century. Even the early 20th century accounts of historical events are much better than anything current. What’s more people were still educated so that their writing is graceful & incisive.
It makes you see how much our educational system and TV have dumbed us down. All of the earlier writings are footnoted in French & German, because educated people had a reading knowledge of other languages.
The future destruction of Palmyra will be a day of rejoicing for Israel
While Palmyra has absolutely no value whatsoever to Islam, Christianity or even to ISIS as an ‘Islamic group’, it holds a TREMENDOUS significance for the Jews and Judaism.
The key to understanding why the ruins of this ancient pearl of the desert have become a target rests in Jewish ‘sacred’ texts:
“The day on which Tadmor is destroyed will be made a holiday” (Yeb. 16b-17a).
“Happy will he be who shall see the downfall of Tadmor” (Yer. Ta’an. iv. 8)
“The future destruction of Palmyra will be a day of rejoicing for Israel” (Yev. 17a)
Palmyra is the Tadmor of the Bible

Thanks T1-amazing! As Tacitus observed 2,000 years ago, Judaism is a ‘religion’ based on hatred of the Other. The open Western support for Daash and al-Nusra et al, is becoming hard to hide, but the Western MSM, naturally, manages to do so. And apparently Israel is seeing an opportunity open up to annihilate Hezbollah who they hate with fury because they twice defeated the Master Race, an insult to the Israelis self-image as the Supreme Beings in the Universe, by applying the genocidal ‘Dahiya Doctrine’ to the whole of southern Lebanon, all to Yahweh’s great delight, no doubt.
Good point . We know already that ancient and modern History are falsified , so are medicine , physics, science in general, economics , politics and a lot of other things like the ” Free market ” ,
the paper currencies , the space exploration with rockets and Religion . We live in a make believe world full of lies . Just watch this video of known scientist Stan Dejo . Andrew Korybko: Thank you. There is a rather ghastly addendum to this rewriting of history business and it has to do with eliminating those who carry the oral history of the truth. So genocide is necessary or perhaps the systematic raping of the women ( carriers of much of collective history) is enough to demoralize and expunge traces of the truth. Statues are nothing–they come and go and can be rebuilt and history can be re rewritten in the halls of scholarly research. But once a species or culture or language or people is gone, it is gone. The Yadizhi may face this grim fact–alas
There is a vile racism underneath all of this—RT needs to scream and scream every time a person is blown to bits by violation of that so-called Minsk II charade. People are precious and each one of those is the holder of a total cultural history. Every woman needs to know that if the battle is lost they will be eliminated as carriers of historical memory murmured to the child in the womb, the youngster growing up, the young man looking so much like the image of his dead father. Have no doubt about this.
If one looks at the way Israel completely eradicated the previous Palestinian presence in much of Israel, one can see the continuity with their “Muslim” terrorist/nazi proxies running amok in the Mideast and Eastern Europe. One will notice that neither of these proxies attack sites of Hebrew/Jewish heritage in any serious way, they always go after sites of the “goy enemy of the moment” (Syria/Iran/Russia) or sites of ancient enemies of the ancient Hebrews.
When Israel took over Palestine, they not only erased the villages and towns, they erased even the Palestinian geographical naming and replaced these with Hebrew names. If one looks at European/American colonies, they often kept up the local names, even though they genocided the population and cultures to varying degrees. So that unlike the Israelis, the Euro-American colonialists didn’t have a policy of removing all trace of their victims. And also unlike the Israelis, the Euro-American colonists often absorbed aspects of the conquered cultures, rather than the policy of wiping out all traces of it and replacing it with “Hebrew” culture.
One should also realise that the modern fundy Christian movement is a creation of zionists (during the 1970s), and their intolerance/extremism was specifically farmed by zionists in order to have a large group of Christian zionist zombies at their beck and call. These zombies were used to infiltrate the right, much of whom was not particularly zionist oriented and still retained a lot of anti-semitism, and replace the antis there with zio-friendly elements. This population manipulation is an earlier example of the way the zionists used “friendlies” to create the “Muslim” and nazi extremists that “appear” where ever the ZPC/NWO meets resistance now.
“One will notice that neither of these proxies attack sites of Hebrew/Jewish heritage in any serious way, they always go after sites of the “goy enemy of the moment” (Syria/Iran/Russia) or sites of ancient enemies of the ancient Hebrews.”
вот так,
you are spot-on. I am glad to read your comments when it comes to really serious stuff. I noticed the very same thing as you did – “sites of ancient enemies of the ancient Hebrews” – exactly the point which most of people do not notice. The destruction of the city of Babylon during the Iraq war comes to mind, and of the Iraqi national museum also.
But what to do to them as a revenge ?
I’ ve got an idea, but we need someone smarter then Putin to execute it.
The Wend
Cheers.
“But what to do to them as a revenge ?”
Forced co-habitation arrangements (IE: shotgun weddings) with American/Anglo/Euro/Jewish radical feminists? ;D
I’ ve got an idea, but we need someone smarter then Putin to execute it.
I wouldn’t say smarter than Putin, but rather less bound by “legalities”. At least “officially”.
The only conceivable solution to Israel’s insane aggression and belligerence is a UN Mandate where Israel, on its 1947 borders, and Palestine are both disarmed and kept in peace, by UN peace-keepers. The only times in history that I know of where Jews lived in real amity with non-Jews were under the Moors in Spain and under the Ottoman Empire, ie strong Governments that repressed the Jews’ tendency to prey on non-Jews, and protected them in return. And, throughout the Middle Ages in Europe, Jews and non-Jews lived much of the time in relative peace, until Jewish extractions, often as middle-men for the non-Jewish elites, led to revolt and retribution.
This is right on. I have noticed well and been rivitted by the similarities of ISIS
and the Kiev Ukraine with US post 9/11 government. Before that the similarities between the horrors of the US war on Iraq and Libya with US Nazi facism copied this quiet, amazed interest.
Great article indeed! Many thanks!
Kudos to one who mentioned Kosovo in this context. I should also add that the KLA terrorists are very fond of destroying our graveyards which are centuries old.
And I have one Q/dilemma: how come such opposites – the rabid liberals & the rabid terrorists – are allies? Is it their common “enemy?” Or, perhaps, they have more in common – the extremism – than we can imagine? Or is it just a wrong perception of the liberals – the useful idiots – which are skillfully controlled by the equally rabid zio-terrorists?
Trying to draw parallels between the Islamic State and the Ukraine regime may serve some propaganda purposes but it is hardly relevant to these very different conflicts. The Ukraine Junta and their minions are petty nationalists who couldn’t, if they wanted to, expand their reach much beyond their national borders, they can’t even capture the breakaway Donbass. They are being used as a tool by the West to harass and intimidate Russia in a larger game but they won’t be marching on Moscow. Knocking down Lenin statues and war memorials may be a feeble attempt to rewriting history but the true stories are easily found by those who care to look. Didn’t Russia remove many of the statues glorifying their Communist past after the fall of the USSR?
The Islamic State is a much grander Idea that transcends petty Western concepts such as nationalism on its way to uniting all Muslims under the Caliphate. You may have noticed that most of the people wringing their hands about the IS destroying archeological treasures represent the same Western powers that looted the treasures of the ME past and present. I think much of this destruction is political provocation aimed at the West to show that they no longer control the ME or its treasures.
Western elites are not interested in antiquities, they are only interested in Iraq’s fabled White Powder Gold so they can live forever. Kissinger and Brzezinski and Soros, etc. can’t wait to get their gnarled old hands on this legendary biblical Manna.
Another similarity is the use of the Chechens in both the anti-Russian Ukrainian death battalions and ISIS.
“General Isa Munaev, arrived on the opposite side of the front lines with a suitcase full of insignia – military berets, pins and flags bearing the symbol of Chechen independence: a wolf in repose above nine stars, each representing one of the major clans, or teips, of Chechnya…
Munaev made clear his motives for coming to fight in Ukraine: “If Ukraine loses, Chechnya will lose,” he said, his voice seeming to falter with emotion. “Fighting here in the defense of Ukrainian freedom, we are defending our own freedom, our own statehood.” By that logic, he urged all Chechen exiles to take up the call to arms as a revival of their bygone war against Russia, and dozens of them have.

“Recently ISIS has released first issue of ‘Istok’, which translates to ‘Origin’ or ‘Outflow’, by the group’s Al-Hayat media wing, Its contributors regail its intended audience with stories of how they battled Russian ‘tyranny’ in the Caucasus before embarking on greater jihad under the banner of the so-called ‘caliph’ Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The publication serves as a complement to its English language version entitled ‘Dabiq’, an area in northern Syria believed to be the location of an apocalyptic end-times battle between the forces of Islam and those of the Kuffar (infidels).
@http://russia-insider.com/en/politics/isis-begins-spew-its-venom-russian-lanuage/ri7564
A look back into history: “Polish-Circassian cooperation against Russia in the 19th century”: In the early 1830s Polish insurrectionists recognized that they shared common goals with the Circassian population of the Caucasus, which was in the throes of a prolonged armed resistance against Romanov expansion.”
Then, in the time of “Prometheism or Prometheanism (Polish: “Prometeizm”) the political project initiated by Poland’s Józef Piłsudski, whose aim was to weaken the Russian Empire and its successor states, including the Soviet Union, by supporting nationalist independence movements among the major non-Russian peoples that lived within the borders of Russia and the Soviet Union” by the recruitment into the Polish Army, as contract officers, of a group of Georgian officers, as well as of Azerbaijanis and Caucasus Mountaineers, upon recommendation by their legitimate national representatives.
Don’t forget the “stalinist” erasing of the memory of the “real” inhabitants of Ukraine, erh, Khazaria, Khazakia. Did not Stalin ordered to “belittle” the “enormous” contribution of the Khazars to the culture of the Nordic barbarians (Rus) who invaded the territory where the Slavs were living in harmony with their masters the Khazars? It happened in the context of the push for the establishment of the Jewish Autonomous Republic in Crimea and Azov. The autochtony of the Jews in the area was one of the arguments of the request for the establishment of the Republic of Crimea. Below some excerpts from Arthur Koestler’s The Thirteen Tribe. They deal with the fate of the book ‘History of the Khazars’, by a famous Soviet archaeologist, Mikhail Artamonov at the time of Stalin (actually shortly before the assassination of Stalin because of his “persecution of the Jews”).
“At the peak of their power they [the Khazars] controlled or exacted tribute from some thirty different nations and tribes inhabiting the vast territories between the Caucasus, the Aral Sea, the Ural Mountains, the town of Kiev and the Ukrainian steppes. The people under Khazar suzerainty included the Bulgars, Burtas, Ghuzz, Magyars (Hungarians), the Gothic and Greek colonies of the Crimea, and the Slavonic tribes in the north-western woodlands. Beyond these extended dominions, Khazar armies also raided Georgia and Armenia and penetrated into the Arab Caliphate as far as Mosul. In the words of the Soviet archaeologist M. I. Artamonov: ‘Until the ninth century, the Khazars had no rivals to their supremacy in the regions north of the Black Sea and the adjoining steppe and forest regions of the Dnieper. The Khazars were the supreme masters of the southern half of Eastern Europe for a century and a half, and presented a mighty bulwark, blocking the Ural-Caspian gateway from Asia into Europe. During this whole period, they held back the onslaught of the nomadic tribes from the East.”…
“It is sad to report in this context that more than a thousand years after the events under discussion, the Soviet regime has done its best to expunge the memory of the Khazars’ historic role and cultural achievements. On January 12, 1952, The Times carried the following news item:
EARLY RUSSIAN CULTURE BELITTLED SOVIET HISTORIAN REBUKED:
Another Soviet historian has been criticized by Pravda for belittling the early culture and development of the Russian people. He is Professor Artamonov, who, at a recent session of the Department of History and Philosophy at the USSR Academy of Sciences, repeated a theory which he had put forward in a book in1937 that the ancient city of Kiev owed a great deal to the Khazar peoples. He pictures them in the role of an advanced people who fell victim to the aggressive aspirations of the Russians. “All these things,” says Pravda, “have nothing in common with historical facts. The Khazar kingdom which represented the primitive amalgamation of different tribes, played no positive role whatever in creating the statehood of the eastern Slavs. Ancient sources testify that state formations arose among the eastern Slavs long before any record of the Khazars. The Khazar kingdom, far from promoting the development of the ancient Russian State, retarded the progress of the eastern Slav tribes. The material obtained by our archaeologists indicate the high level of culture in ancient Russia. Only by flouting the historical truth and neglecting the facts can one speak of the superiority of the Khazar culture. The idealization of the Khazar kingdom reflects a manifest survival of the defective views of the bourgeois historians who belittled the indigenous development of the Russian people. The erroneousness of this concept is evident. Such a conception cannot be accepted by Soviet historiography.”
That was in the time of the Soviet oppression, but now… It may sound like a joke, but the title of the King of the Khazars was Kagan. The joke about the “Khaganate of Nulands” is less jocular than you may believe. Robert Kagan, the the great mind of the neo-cons is the husband of Victoria Nuland. It sounds like Newland. Coincidentally, the New-land there is what you call Novorossyia! Funny, init?). Now, think of the following scenario (which became more and more credible after the nomination of Saakashvili as Governor of Odessa and various non-Ukrainians made Ukrainians overnight to enable them to become Ministers), Bobby or Vicki invited to become PMs of the New Land of Ukro-Khazaria. Or, why not, Khagans? Farfetched? You bet.

Thanks to Andrew and Saker for this excellent piece on the destruction of historical memory by both these imperial proxies, IS and the Bandera oligarchy. It may be worthwhile to remember that Kiev’s staunchest supporters, the governments of USA and Canada, mounted one of the largest assassinations of historical memory with their still ongoing invasion, occupation, despoilation and genocide of Indigenous peoples of Great Turtle Island. Free Donbas! Support Indigenous resistance!

This is good work done in Canada long past due lets hope we get some results!
Dear Andrew,
Thank you again for a very important article. The destruction of history seems to be a driving factor with the Western proxy radical armies. It is all rather frightening and a disaster for mankind.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these artifacts are stolen. So many cradles of civilisations are being destroyed or attacked.
To be replaced by a sterile US non-history.
Rgds,

Very nice analysis, but the earliest example (from which ISIL takes its lessons) is the action of the zionist terrorist gangs in the 1940s and 1950s:
a) How do you think you remove an entire population from its own country (Palestine)? By highly publicised massacres (zionist leaders were very proud of them, but historical engineering in the West has erased this part from memories), so that the others just take their feet and run away. This is what ISIL does now by posting its “achievements” on their social media: throat cutting, massive executions, head chopping, etc…
b) Destruction of ancient monuments and of the villages they occupied. Exactly what ISIL does in order to wipe out the history of those who were before, as you describe nicely. For the zionists, this was a vital element, as they needed to prove that there “was a land without people, for a people without land”.
Conclusion: the lesson comes from the zionists. Remember, of the 3 suprematist ideologies of the early XXth century (zionism, fascism, nazism), only zionism still goes on…
In reactionary times like these the task of the revolutionary is to preserve the historic memory of the working class……It has been under erasure in the advent of the post modern moment…..here is the political upshot…..Joaquin Flores: The Failures of the Enlightenment [video].June 3rd, 2015 Fort Russ Staff….Yes the enlightenment did not do much for peace on earth in the last 200 years. The French revolution was very secular and supposedly enlightened. It descended into a reign of Terror.
The same could be said of Fascism and Communism – both secular but both descended in certain regimes also to reign of mass murder. The lack of respect for one feelings such as one’s intuition, having empathy for others or thinking from the heart is what was lacking in all these regimes. It is also lacking in the West’s love affair with the US’s world hegemony mania that disrespects the lives of people with impunity for its mad rush for world dominance.
RR: Stalinism equals fascism.
Here is our genuine heritage. I post it here for your edification. It will take a hour or two to read. I hope you do. My “intuition tells me neither I nor this post will be here long.

We do know that “Rocky Racoon” was initially “Rocky Sassoon”, but the becoming Sir Paul had, for mysterious (i.e. undisclosed to the mere mortals) reasons, to change it from Sassoon to Raccoon, “because it sounded more like a cowboy”?
How very interesting! What was wrong with “Sassoon”? What Sassoon means, anyway? I will go to Wikipedia for convenience. It is not always reliable, but when it boast about their sponsors it is passable so.
“The Sassoon family, also known as “the Rothschilds of the East” due to their supreme past wealth, is a famous family of Iraqi Jewish descent and international renown. It was based in Baghdad, Iraq, before moving to Mumbai (Bombay at time of their arrival), India and then spreading to China, England, and other countries. It is said that the family descended from the famous Ibn Shoshans, one of the richest families of medieval Al-Andalus, although the origins are ambiguous. From the 18th century, the Sassoons were one of the wealthiest families in the world, with a merchant empire spanning the continent of Asia….
David (1792 – 1864) fled from a new and unfriendly vali, going first to the Persian Gulf port of Bushehr in 1828 and then to Mumbai, India, in 1832, with his large family. In Mumbai, he built the international business called David S. Sassoon, with the policy of staffing it with people brought from Baghdad. They filled the functions of the various branches of his business in India, Burma, Malaya, and east Asia. His business extended to China – where Sassoon House (now the north wing of the Peace Hotel) on the Bund in Shanghai became a noted landmark – and then to England….
David Sassoon, Baghdad’s treasurer in the nineteenth century, began and cemented the family’s dominant position in the Sino-Indian opium trade. The family’s businesses in China, and Hong Kong especially, were built to capitalize on the trade…. (where the “supreme wealth of the family” comes from)…
Albert Abdullah David Sassoon (1818 – 1896) took on the running of the firm on his father’s death, and notably constructed the Sassoon Docks, the first wet dock built in western India. With two of his brothers he later became prominent in England and the family great friends of the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII.
Of those who settled in England, Sir Edward Albert Sassoon (1856 – 1912), the son of Albert, married Aline Caroline de Rothschild, and was a Conservative member of Parliament from 1899 until his death. The seat was then inherited by his son Sir Philip Sassoon (1888 – 1939) from 1912 until his death. Sir Philip served in the First World War as military secretary to Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig and, during the 1920s and 1930s, as Britain’s undersecretary of state for air. The twentieth-century English poet, one of the best known World War I poets, Siegfried Sassoon (1886 – 1967) was David’s great-grandson. Another descendant of Sassoon David Sassoon is the British banker and government minister James, Lord Sassoon. In the 19th century, one daughter of the family, Rachel Sassoon Beer bought a number of newspapers in England, including The Sunday Times (1893–1904) and The Observer, which she also edited…
The branch that carried on the ancestral tradition has been represented by Rabbi Solomon David Sassoon (1915 – 1985), who moved from Letchworth to London and then to Jerusalem in 1970. He was the son of the David Sassoon who collected Jewish books and manuscripts and who catalogued them in Ohel David, in two volumes. This David was the son of Flora Abraham, who had moved from India to England in 1901 and established a famous salon in her London home. Solomon Sassoon had two sons, Isaac S.D. Sassoon and David Solomon Sassoon, who are both rabbis”.
So, you can understand what fur Paul McCartney ruffled (“spoofed”) inadvertently. After he recanted he was deemed worthy of a Knighthood (OBE, no less; and now Légion d’honneur !).
Now, all these Rothschilds, Sassoons, Schiffs, Warburgs, philanthropists and maecenates, have been the patrons of “working class revolutions” as well as of the “preservation of the historic memory of them”. They are behind the Ukie “oligarchs”. No wonder that Trotsky (aka Leiba Bronshtein, Ukrainian through and through!, non-religious Jew – only married by a “Jewish chaplain”) was always their pet and Stalin the villain. Trotsky and his “gang” were supporters of the “Jewish Crimean Republic” which was to be financed by the same (as today) “racoons” Cabal. You RR are on their side!
Anyhow, it is amusing for me to re-read some of the “Spartakist” garbage that made our laughing stock decades ago, when I was a student. It is sad, on the other hand, that today it may overflow again from the garbage bin of History where it rightfully has been consigned to.
The incorrect spelling RR moniker has an all together different genealogy….but that is for me to know. Thanks for the info though I don’t think I will change anything because of it.
Cheers,
RR
@RR,
So, are the RR or the RR?
It doesn’t matter as long as any of yous would remain “sub Rosa” (Luxemburg, of course)
Pretty Rotten thing to say about Rosa Luxemburg. And I am on the side of the oligarch’s am I? Just imagine how far the Soviet Union could have gone with a socialist government in Germany. And you laughed at those who carried on the tradition as a student. Little wonder fascist coups are still possible today. A Blurb on Luxemberg.
Luxemburg was born in March 1871 in Zamosch, Poland. In 1889, aged 18 and because of her revolutionary agitation, she had to leave for Zurich in Switzerland. If she had stayed in Poland, it was almost certain that she would have been imprisoned for her political views. While abroad, Luxemburg continued to study and she received her doctorate in 1898.
While in Zurich, she met many exiled revolutionaries from Russia including Gregory Plekhanov. Luxemburg and the exiles from Russia fell out over what they believed should happen to Poland – should Poland receive self-determination or not? Luxemburg was against self-determination as she believed that a newly created state was weak and at a disadvantage to the people there as the “bourgeoisie” would use this national weakness to their advantage to strengthen their hold over the workers. Her view was opposed by many and as a result Luxemburg formed the Polish Social Democratic Party.
In 1898, Luxemburg left Zurich for Berlin where she joined the German Social Democratic Labour Party. Luxemburg was very keen on supporting the idea of debate and in 1900 she produced “Reform or Revolution”. She supported reform as a way of improving life but she did not want to stop at reforms that came from the government as she believed that governments frequently gave only what they wanted to. Luxemburg wanted a complete revolution of governmental systems.
She saw the revolution in Russia in 1905 as a very good sign of hope. She moved to Warsaw where she hoped to make more of a mark in Russia. However, she was caught by the authorities and put in prison.
When the war broke out in 1914, she was very much against it. Luxemburg was very angered by the Social Democratic Party that had fully supported Germany’s entry into the war. Luxemburg left the SDP. It was at this time that she allied with Karl Liebknecht who shared the same views and had also left the SDP. They formed the Internationale Group that was to become the Spartacists. Their main party platform during the war was for German soldiers to turn their weapons against their officers and then against the government thus overthrowing it.
Both Luxemburg and Liebknecht were arrested for their political activities. While in prison, Luxemburg wrote the “Junius Pamphlet” which was to become the foundation of the Spartacists beliefs.
In November 1918, Luxemburg was released from prison. Prince Max von Baden had introduced a general amnesty for all political prisoners though there was reluctance to let Luxemburg have her freedom. On her release, she immediately started her revolutionary activities again. In December she co-founded the German Communist Party which was essentially made up of Spartacists. At this time the so-called German Revolution was taking place and Berlin was a very dangerous place to be. The head of the government, Friedrich Ebert, had moved the government to the safety of Weimar and the right-wing Freikorps was left to deal with the communists.
On January 15th, 1919, Luxemburg, Liebknecht and Wilhelm Pieck, another Spartacist leader, were arrested. What happened next is unclear but Luxemburg, Liebknecht and Pieck were taken from the Adlon Hotel in Berlin, where they were being held, to be local prison. Pieck managed to escape. Luxemburg and Liebknecht were both murdered by their captors. Luxemburg’s body was found in a river.
“Just imagine how far the Soviet Union could have gone with a socialist government in Germany.”
Probably as far as they went with Ukraine during the Holodomor. That was probably the most important reason people started to support Hitler in elections.
@RR,
So, are you the RR or the RR?
It doesn’t matter as long as any of yous would remain “sub Rosa” (Luxemburg, of course)
You had better not tell any of the working class anti fascist volunteers from around the globe that they are fighting for Jewish oligarch’s in the Donbass….might lose some support…
You know any other RR’s around here cowboy?
Zionism didn’t come about until early 19th century. For someone who insists that their religious beliefs be respected you certainly don’t appear to have respect for anyone of Jewish ancestry?
Oh and all revolutions from below are a Jewish conspiracy, you cannot be serious…..other than your derogatory remarks your response contains nothing of substance as to the idea’s that belong to all of humanity that are contained in this pamphlet. Derived mainly from mainstream sources from what I can tell and most likely put together by a autodidact who did a dam good job. By the way it was most likely anti-Semitism that keep Trotsky from taking the mantle over from Lenin. That and mistrust by old Bolsheviks for his former position as a Menshevik. It went to Stalin by default.
To bad.
RR
@anti fascist volunteers from around the globe that they are fighting for Jewish oligarch’s in the Donbass
@anti-Semitism that keep Trotsky from taking the mantle over from Lenin.
Here we go, Rocky Sassoon, here we go! It took a while to get to it beating around the bush, but… victrix causa Stalini placuit, sed victa Trotskii! (or about).
Ah, and Red Rozalia was from Zamość, in Russian-controlled Congress Poland, just next to Ukraine. What a coincidence, innit?
