The context must be hammered home and reiterated as often as any obnoxious advertising campaign: This war is an unavoidable response to ongoing “passive aggression” by the West, characterized by the West’s hostility, attacks deniability, and blame shifting.
Actually, that is the typical passive aggressive toolbox.
the USA’s “foreign policy” is basically comparable to that of a passive aggressive adversary in the personal sphere. The aim is to do harm while also creating deniability and blame shifting.
It is very hard to call out the true blame with passive aggressors because they are cunning in their attacks/denial/blame shifting. In personal life one must just walk away from such people—they will never cop to their underlying hostility and aggression. It will alwys be the victim’s “fault” for “noticing” anything.
On the world stage these aggressors must be continually called out, IMHO, even though they will continue to aggress and put on an “innocent” face. So far Zelensky has managed to assume this “innocent” clown face and make a lot of people believe it.
I pray for the say that Russia whips away the veil with evidence of different kinds (biolabs, etc.) and holds its own war crimes trials on Russian territory, for the whole world to witness.
In the meantime I wish the Kremlin’s press and PR offices would grasp that they must CONTINUALLY emphasize that the WEst caused this war, the West is responsible for the destruction of streets and lives in the Ukraine, for leaving Russia no choice but to defend itself.
Only constant repetition has a chance against the West’s Great Wurlitzer. Not complicated long explanations and historical recaps, but short ear-catching formulae—sound bites—directed to specific audiences (as DC has been having Zelensky mouth with his tailor-made messages to different national audiences).
If these “soundbite” messages get repeated in the Western news media, it doesn’t matter whether they are ridiculed or not. They will have been repeated.

If it comes to a battle of soundbite sized propaganda, memes and visceral manipulations vs. facts and history requiring attention and critical thinking , Russian Federation is kind of screwed. Madison Avenue has had more mega $s dumped on it to perfect the short explanation/big lie exploit than the fully foot noted and peer reviewed historical truth + rationality could ever hope for.
