It’s over, Dorian never made landfall (at least not in Florida) and we are now out of danger.
We are pretty exhausted though, so while I will be back at my keyboard on Friday, don’t expect a flurry of long analytical articles :-)
Also, please take it easy with the emails, I will have tons to catch up to anyway, so please keep it to a minimum for a week or so.

Congratulations might have sounded like a strange thing to say. However, I would like to explain why I chose that word. The truth is that I believe a rather large number of people were directing their thoughts and prayers, consciously, towards this storm passing Florida by. I believe that you may have been doing so as well. I know that I was. I believe that this fact definately had a positive effect on the situation. I realize that there is quite a bit more to it than that, but that does not change my belief that these thoughts and prayers were succesful. I am very glad to hear that you, and your family, are safe. I am glad for the rest of the people who are safe as well. Even if you don’t post this comment, I would surely like it if you would read it. God bless, and keep up the good work. I believe that the work you are doing is for the good.

There are two things wrong with this assertion:
1) ‘Take over’ is a little too strong. Easier said than done, the empire has to consider whether it wants a hot, shooting-war with the rest of civilization just now. If the ‘sanctions’ are ignored, there aren’t a lot of other options.
2) At this point in time, the empire does not want $30 oil. All that expensive ‘fracking’ activity cannot be paid for unless oil is around $75. As for the Russian oil, Russia probably doesn’t care. Her economy is running just fine with or without the revenue from oil and gas exports.
