Late this morning, outraged emails started pouring in. My correspondents reported “getting sick” and having their “heart ache”. The cause of all that? They had just watched Trump’s speech at the UN. I sighed and decided to watch the full speech for myself. Yeah, it was painful.
You can read the full (rush, not official) text here or watch the video here. Most of it is so vapid that I won’t even bother posting the full thing. But there are a few interesting moments including those:
“We will be spending almost $700 billion on our military and defense. Our military will soon be the strongest it has ever been“
This short sentence contains the key to unlock the reason behind the fact that while the US military is extremely good at killing people in large numbers, it is also extremely bad at winning wars. Like most Americans, Trump is under the illusion that spending a lot of money “buys” you a better military. This is completely false, of course. If spending money was the key to a competent military force, the US armed forces would have already conquered the entire planet many times over. In reality, they have not won anything meaningful since the war in the Pacific.
Having surrounded himself with “Mad Dog” kind of “experts” on warfare, Trump is now reusing that old mantra about how money buys you victory and this is something extremely important. This kind of magical thinking signals to the countries most threatened by the USA that the Americans are unable to engage in a basic “lessons learned” kind of exercise, that history teaches them nothing and that, just like all this predecessors, Trump conflates handing out money to the Military Industrial Complex with preparing for war. Frankly, this is good news: let the Americans spend themselves into bankruptcy, let them further neglect their military and let them continue to believe that this kind of magical thinking will bring them to victory.
[Sidebar: for the record, I have met and studied with plenty of excellent, well-educated, honorable, courageous and patriotic American officers and the kind of money-centered hubris I describe above is in no way directed at them, if only because they know even much better than I how bad the situation really is. There are plenty of highly-educated officers in the US armed forces who understand history and who know that money brings corruption, not victory. But they are mostly kept at ranks no higher than Colonel and you will often find them in military teaching institutions and academies. Having studied with them and become good friends with many of them, I feel sorry for them and I know that if they had the means to stop this insanity they would]
America does more than speak for the values expressed in the United Nations charter. Our citizens have paid the ultimate price to defend our freedom and the freedom of many nations represented in this great hall. America’s devotion is measured on the battlefields where our young men and women have fought and sacrificed alongside of our allies. From the beaches of Europe to the deserts of the Middle East to the jungles of Asia, it is an eternal credit to the American character that even after we and our allies emerge victorious from the bloodiest war in history, we did not seek territorial expansion or attempt to oppose and impose our way of life on others.
The only question here is whom exactly Trump’s speech-writers are aiming that nonsense at? Do they really think that there is anybody out there who sincerely believes this? If the target audience are US middle schools then, yes, okay. But does anybody believe that US middle school students listen to UN speeches?! Okay, maybe senile folks also believe that, I sure know a few who will swallow it up and ask for more, but why speak to that audience from a UN podium? Is it not embarrassing when such nonsense is greeted in total silence instead of a standing ovation from all the putatively grateful countries out there who are so deeply grateful for all these altruistic and heroic sacrifices. My only explanation for why this kind of nonsensical drivel was included in this speech is that it has become part of the ritual of typical American “patriotic liturgy”: big hyperbolic sentences which mean nothing, which nobody takes seriously or even listens to, but who have to be included “because they have to”. This reminds me of the obligatory Lenin quote in any and all Soviet speeches and statements, they also were basically filtered out by any thinking person, everybody knew that, but that’s how things went on then. It is really sad, and scary, to see how much the USA of the 2017 looks like the Soviet Union of the 1980s.
The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.
Wow! Now that is a sentence which could only be written by a person utterly unaware of the impact it will have on the intended audience (in theory, all of mankind, this is the UN, after all). Totally destroy North Korea. I wonder how this will be received in South Korea and Japan. No, I don’t mean by the puppet regimes in Seoul and Tokyo, but by the people. Will they simply dismiss it as hot air or will they be horrified. I bet for the former reaction. It is much more psychologically comfortable to dismiss it all under the heading “nah, that’s crazy shit, they don’t mean it and they sure as hell ain’t gonna do it” rather than think for just a few minutes about the implications and consequences of such a threat. And let me be clear here: the United States most definitely do have the means to totally destroy North Korea. For one thing, they already did so during the Korean war, and they can easily repeat that today. That does not mean that they can win a war against the DPRK. There is a huge difference between laying waste to a country and winning a war against it (see Israel vs Hezbollah). The only way to meaningfully win a war against the DPRK is to invade it, and that the Americans cannot do, not even close. In contrast, the DPRK probably has the means to invade at least the northern part of South Korea, including Seoul. At the very least, they can totally destroy it. Along with much of Japan. I wonder if the USA decided to one day “protect” South Korean and Japan by “totally destroying North Korea”, will they be totally shocked when they realize that the South Koreans and the Japanese will turn out not to be grateful for such a “protection”?
Last month I announced a new strategy for victory in the fight against this evil in Afghanistan. From now on, our security interests will dictate the length and scope of military operation, not arbitrary benchmarks and timetables set up by politicians. I have also totally changed the rules of engagement in our fight against the Taliban and other terrorist groups.
What we see here is undeniable evidence that far from being “real warriors” or “strategists” the military gang around Trump (Mattis, McMaster, Kelly, etc.) are either primitive grunts or folks who owe their rank to political protection. Why do I say that? Because none of what Trump describes as a “strategy for victory” is, in fact, a strategy. In fact, the US has not had anything remotely resembling a strategy in Afghanistan for years already. If it wasn’t so sad, it would be laughable, really. What we really see here is the total absence of any strategy and, again, a total reliance on magical thinking. Ask yourself a basic question: have you ever heard from any Trump administration or any US General anything which would suggest to you that these guys have i) a clear goal in mind ii) an understanding of what it would take to achieve this goal and iii) a timeframe to achieve this goal and iv) an exit strategy once this goal is achieved? No? Well, that is not your fault, you did not miss anything. They really don’t have it. The amazing reality is that they don’t have a goal even defined. How one achieves “victory” when no goal is even defined is anybody’s guess.
[Sidebar: without going into a lengthy discussion of Afghanistan, I would say that the only chance to get anything done, any viable result at all, is to negotiate a deal with all the parties that matter: the various Afghan factions, of course, but also with the Taliban, Pakistan, Iran and even Russia. Pakistan and Iran have a de-facto veto power over any outcome for Afghanistan. This may not be what the USA would want, but this is the reality. Denying reality is just not a smart approach to these issues, especially if “victory” is the goal]
In Syria and Iraq, we have made big gains toward lasting defeat of ISIS. In fact, our country has achieved more against ISIS in the last eight months than it has in many, many years combined. The actions of the criminal regime of Bashar al-Assad, including the use of chemical weapons against his own citizens, even innocent children, shock the conscience of every decent person. No society could be safe if banned chemical weapons are allowed to spread. That is why the United States carried out a missile strike on the airbase that launched the attack.
When I heard these words I felt embarrassed for Trump. First, it is absolutely pathetic that Trump has to claim as his success the victories with the Syrians, the Russians, the Iranians and Hezbollah have achieved against the Wahabi-crazies of Daesh/al-Qaeda/al-Nusra/etc, especially since the latter are a pure creation of the US CIA! The truth is that it was the Americans who created this Wahabi monster and that they aided, protected, financed, trained and armed it through all these years. The USA also viciously opposed all the countries which were serious about fighting this Wahabi abomination. And now that a tiny Russian contingent has achieved infinitely better results that all the power of the mighty CENTCOM backed by the Israeli and Saudi allies of the USA in the region, The Donald comes out and declares victory?! Pathetic is not strong enough a word to describe this mind-bogglingly counter-factual statement. And then, just to make things worse, The Donald *proudly* mentions the failed attack against a Syrian air force base which had nothing to do with a false flag fake chemical attack. Wow! For any other political leader recalling such an event would be a burning embarrassment, but for The Donald it is something he proudly mentions. The hubris, ignorance and stupidity of it all leaves me in total awe…
Next The Donald went on a long rant about how bad Maduro and Venezuela were, which was terrible, but at least predictable, but then he suddenly decided to share this outright bizarre insight of his:
The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented. From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever true socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish and devastation and failure.
Since when did Trump become an expert on political science and world history anyway? Who does he think he is lecturing? Yet another US middle school classroom?! Does he not realize that a good number of the countries represented at the UN consider themselves Socialist?! Furthermore, while I don’t necessarily disagree with the notion that Socialist and Communist ideas have often been a disaster in the 20th century, Socialism in the 21st century is an entirely different beast and the jury is still very much out on this issue, especially when considering the social, political, economic, ecological, psychological and even spiritual disaster Capitalism is now proving to be for much of the planet. Being the President of a country as dysfunctional as the USA, Trump would be well-advised to tone down his arrogant pontifications about Socialism and maybe even open a book and read about it.
I won’t even bother discussing the comprehensively counter-factual nonsense Trump has spewed about Iran and Hezbollah, we all know who Trump’s puppet-masters are nowadays so we know what to expect. Instead, I will conclude with this pearl from The Donald:
In remembering the great victory that led to this body’s founding, we must never forget that those heroes who fought against evil, also fought for the nations that they love. Patriotism led the Poles to die to save Poland, the French to fight for a free France, and the Brits to stand strong for Britain.
Echoing the nonsense he spoke while in Poland, Trump is now clearly fully endorsing that fairytale that “The West” (in which Trump now hilariously includes Poland!) has defeated Hitler and saved the world. The truth is that the Nazis were defeated by the Soviets and that all the efforts of the Poles, French, Brits and even Americans were but a minor (20% max) sideshow to the “real event” (Those who still might believe in this nonsense can simply read this). Yet again, that the Americans would feel the need to appropriate for themselves somebody else’s victory is, yet again, a clear sign of weakness. Do they expect the rest of the planet to buy into this nonsense? Probably not. My guess is that all they want is to send a clear messages to the Comprador elites running most countries that this is the “official ideology of the AngloZionist Empire” and if they want to remain in power they better toe the line even if nobody takes this stuff seriously. Yup, back to a 1980s Soviet kind of attitude towards propaganda: nobody cares what everybody else really thinks as long as everybody continues to pretend to believe the official propaganda.
[Sidebar: When my wife and I watched this pathetic speech we starting laughing about the fact that Trump was so obscenely bad that we (almost) begin to miss Obama. This is a standing joke in our family because when Obama came to power we (almost) began to miss Dubya. The reason why this is a joke is that when Duya came to power we decided that there is no way anybody could possibly be worse than him. Oh boy were we wrong! Right now I am still not at the point were I would be missing Obama (that is asking for a lot from me!), but I will unapologetically admit that I am missing Dubya. I do. I really do. Maybe not the people around Dubya, he is the one who truly let the Neocon “crazies in the basement” creep out and occupy the Situation Room, but at least Dubya seemed to realize how utterly incompetent he was. Furthermore, Dubya was a heck of a lot dumber than Obama (in this context being stupid is a mitigating factor) and he sure did not have the truly galactic arrogance of Trump (intelligence-wise they are probably on par)].
In conclusion, what I take away from this speech is a sense of relief for the rest of the planet and a sense of real worry for the USA. Ever since the Neocons overthrew Trump and made him what is colloquially referred to as their “bitch” the US foreign policy has come to a virtual standstill. Sure, the Americans talk a lot, but at least they are doing nothing. That paralysis, which is a direct consequence of the internal infighting, is a blessing for the rest of the planet because it allows everybody else to get things done. Because, and make no mistake here, if the USA cannot get anything constructive done any more, they retain a huge capability to disrupt, subvert, create chaos and the like. But for as long as the USA remains paralyzed this destructive potential remains mostly unused (and no matter how bad things look now, Hillary President would have been infinitely worse!). However, the USA themselves are now the prime victim of a decapitated Presidency and a vindicative and generally out of control Neocon effort to prevent true American patriots to “get their country back” (as they say) and finally overthrow the regime in Washington DC. Step by step the USA is getting closer to a civil war and there is no hope in sight, at least for the time being. It appears that for the foreseeable future Trump will continue to focus his energy on beating Obama for the status of “worst President in US history” while the Neocons will continue to focus their energy on trying to impeach Trump, and maybe even trigger a civil war. The rest of us living here are in for some very tough times ahead. As they say in Florida when a hurricane comes barreling down on you “hunker down!”.
The Saker
God help us all.
This shit is really funny though.
It would be a lot funnier if it weren’t for the fact we might all get annihilated in some Neocon/Dark Occultist -inspired nuclear war.
Make no mistake, my friends. The Neocons are evil but there is a darker power that guides them. These people are practicing occultists and they engage in black magic rituals. It is the truth. Some very evil, sick, disgusting force wants to corrupt and twist the entire Earth into oblivion. And they are willing, even, to intentionally trigger a nuclear war if necessary to achieve this aim. The permanent enslavement and subjugation of all humanity, and the permanent dissolution of the spirit and any kind of meaningful evolution. This is their end goal. Do not forget it.
Stand tall and do not lose hope. United, we will beat back the hordes of idiotic minions and their puppetmasters and we will emerge victorious from this bloody fight. They truly are weaker than we are. They won’t win, unless we let them. Not gonna happen. Humanity will be free.
Love,
-geoff
You mention God, then trust him, every religion believes in the arrival of God’s messenger.
‘These people are practising occultists and they engage in black magic rituals. It is the truth.’
I have banged on about this before …… but Trump’s vomit last night is worrying
(excellent analysis of the vomit, Saker ….. even the bits of carrot and tomato skin)
I hope it all remains talk ….. let him blow all he likes
For me ‘black magic rituals’ is another way of saying ‘fundamentalist christian’, and there are far too many of those in the beltway
another random thought
‘The Neocons are evil but there is a darker power that guides them’
As Alice Cooper pointed out, the devil is smart, she is not going to come dressed in red pyjamas with horns on her head. She will be disguised as something we can all trust, or think we can trust …. like politicians in well cut suits supported by mainstream media.
another random thought on the subject
In the last 2 days I spoke to two friends in China about N Korea. I asked them what they thought.
One lives in a city that is on the border with N Korea. Dandong. She said basically, ‘what problem, it is business as usual here. Everyone is smiling, as usual’
The other lives further south, near Shanghai (actually in YiWu, the santa clause capital of the world. Really … look it up). She works for a company that exports widgets to the US. She said that it is not a hot topic in China. The Chinese people trust their government and leave it up to them to handle th e situation.
I am not sure whether I should be alarmed or comforted.
Sleep-walking seems to be the best description for the great unwashed of all countries
Quote:the devil is smart, she is not going to come dressed in red pyjamas with horns on her head.?
So you think the Hilary will come back ??
Haha …. I call her WWIII Hillary ….. it seems the devil is there somewhere …… perhaps it is Hillary or perhaps it is a brilliant piece of miss-direction (we all think we have found ‘Wally’ but we are possibly looking in the wrong place) ….. there has to more to all of this theatre of the absurd
I think Lucifer gets a bad rap. He isn’t that bad. And would you want to have to put up with Trumpenstein/ Hitlery/ all that crew as company for all eternity? What has the poor devil done to deserve that?
To paraphrase the famous novelist Sinclair Lewis …. “When the Devil comes to America, he will come wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.”
“Graeme”, please just stop producing that talmudist satanist crap propaganda. Are you of the multiple genociders’ family, or why are you talking like that?
Some excerpts of talmud. It’s genocidal, no denying of that:

@devil is smart, she is not going to come dressed in red pyjamas with horns on her head.
No, of course not. I assume that you are familiar with the self-depiction of the devil in the “Karamazovs” (Chapter 9 – the famous Ivan’s Nightmare):
“My dear friend, above all things I want to behave like a gentleman and to be recognised as such,” the visitor began in an access of deprecating and simple-hearted pride, typical of a poor relation. “I am poor, but… I won’t say very honest, but… it’s an axiom generally accepted in society that I am a fallen angel. I certainly can’t conceive how I can ever have been an angel. If I ever was, it must have been so long ago that there’s no harm in forgetting it. Now I only prize the reputation of being a gentlemanly person and live as I can, trying to make myself agreeable. I love men genuinely, I’ve been greatly calumniated! Here when I stay with you from time to time, my life gains a kind of reality and that’s what I like most of all. You see, like you, I suffer from the fantastic and so I love the realism of earth. Here, with you, everything is circumscribed, here all is formulated and geometrical, while we have nothing but indeterminate equations! I wander about here dreaming. I like dreaming. Besides, on earth I become superstitious. Please don’t laugh, that’s just what I like, to become superstitious. I adopt all your habits here: I’ve grown fond of going to the public baths, would you believe it? and I go and steam myself with merchants and priests. What I dream of is becoming incarnate once for all and irrevocably in the form of some merchant’s wife weighing eighteen stone, and of believing all she believes. My ideal is to go to church and offer a candle in simple-hearted faith, upon my word it is. Then there would be an end to my sufferings. I like being doctored too; in the spring there was an outbreak of smallpox and I went and was vaccinated in a foundling hospital — if only you knew how I enjoyed myself that day. I subscribed ten roubles in the cause of the Slavs!… But you are not listening. Do you know, you are not at all well this evening? I know you went yesterday to that doctor… well, what about your health? What did the doctor say?…..”
Yes Geoff. Those imbeciles are just puppets of very dark forces..I would say even of the master dark force. Delight in lies deceit all kinds of falsehood enjoying brutal murder (like Killary) Abuse of power and finances indulging in sex perversions thwse are some of the hallmarks. Always repeating the same “clever cunning tricks” like loosing passports In fact his strategy is obvious.
were will it lead to? Lots of misery but his and their ultimate destruction. It depends on us people. Counteract with love for truth, honesty search for harmony in our daily lives. Let us practice.
I have always understood from the beginning that we are not fighting humans, but evil spiritual forces that want the destruction of Christianity, and civilizations, by any possible mean.
Thank you for posting this. Yes, it is time to “hunker down”. Be constant in prayer, also. So much could be said about all of this–as on example, when Mr. Trump states that we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea, he does not speak for many of us who believe that the path to war is all about choices, hopefully wise ones, and that we can certainly choose to not invade a country, and we can certainly choose not to destroy yet another country (add: murder a lot of people).. Maybe there is a large group of people who are convinced that wars are somehow preordained (by “god”) and that if a person honestly speaks out against war, they are going against “god’s will”, or something like that? Seriously, what is happening here? Perhaps some ideas were given to the human race as a test, and the correct answer is to disagree? Maybe there are some prophecies that need to be proven false! Maybe my problem is that I didn’t have to leave this country to get shot at, or have awful things happen to me–the war, the fight for survival against evil happened right here in the good ol” USA and I didn’t have to join the army and go overseas looking for such adventures. Good Lord! The things that spew forth out of Mr. Trump’s mouth! Just curious: if that THAAD anti missile system is “all that” , why don’t they actually use the bloody thing to shoot threatening objects down ? ? ? or, is it a high priced piece of S – – – that doesn’t perform quite as advertised?
I am not a fan of historical paralelism, but I guess here it will work: from the fall of the Holy Roman empire at the hands of the poles in Nuremberg most western empires died in a last self-destructive war. So who knows maybe Venezuela will be to the americans what algeria were to the French or Ethiopia for Italians. Is pretty hard the US will take a rational process of downsizing as did the UK after the 50’s, but at least reminds a hope to avoid millions of deaths for a final imperial agony.
Surely American hubris and war hysteria will leave that nation of gun toting maniacs isolated even from its erstwhile allies. The saber that is being rattled before the whole world is a nuclear one and not even the most bent backed supplicant can be expected to march along the American highway to Armageddon…
Am I being naive in my assessment?
This guy is a stupid showman, a snake oil salesman that made a fortune fooling people. N. Korea has been prepared for a war for almost 70 years and that’s very real.
Asians have good memory, they know what the hegemon did to their country. Japan is f…….up either way.
Very sad day for American patriots.
They saw a pathetic recitation of bleatings of a dying beast.
He castigated the Kim family regime for killing some million of their citizens and then vowed that he would kill all 27 million now alive in North Korea. He promised genocide to half the Peninsula while assuring by such an attack that South Korea would cease to exist as a functioning society and nation, and maybe parts of Japan.
Also, he assured himself that China and Russia would stand by while the US destroyed the Peninsula and nearby lands (oh, that’s China and Russia, isn’t it?). And we are all to believe the US will sail away untouched?
As Saker has documented as well as stated copiously, the US is a pathetic military. The only weapon they have that they could launch at North Korea without the Koreans knowing it was coming that could devastate them are ICBMs with nukes. However, on launch, Russia and China would know.
And it would be doubtful they would assume the incoming warheads were not also meant for them in the Russian Far East and Northeast of China.
So, the Russians would launch a counter strike. And possible the Chinese also would not wait to be hit.
Thus, a strike and counterstrike until about thirty minutes later, nothing worth living for would exist in the northern hemisphere of the planet.
The US is brain-dead.
Trump merely stated it clearly.
The official policy for the US hegemony is to rule the planet or kill anyone who opposes their rule.
They are not going to change that in the foreseeable future.
Doesn’t mean they win anywhere. Doesn’t mean anyone has to adjust to this insanity.
Russia and China are on their path to slicing and dicing the present world systems put in place by the Hegemon. Everyone else in the world was put on notice today. The only safety is with Russia and China.
Its the ingrained mindset of Americans that is the problem. The brainwashing is too deep. I listen to the MSN news nightly (I want to see what the brainwashed see to understand them). And nightly I see threats, military “experts” talk about how the US would easily destroy North Korea. Constant,”Kim the crazy nut, all “options” are on the table,we need to “tell China” to rein NK in,we need to hit the missiles on the launch pads, etc, etc”. Not often do I hear about what NK would do if attacked. (and never about what the crisis is about) Its considered by almost all that they’d just either be destroyed totally in that attack. Or that they would beg for mercy if we attacked them. The “exceptionalism ” of the master race is total. All other nations “must” except that we “know” what is best for them and “behave” themselves and don’t dare question us.Americans are fed this propaganda daily.Maybe some don’t believe all of it. But most believe “part “of it. And a few don’t believe any of it. But too few to make a difference.
I have heard North Koreans talk about this a bit. They say that they have anticipated war with the US and the South for 70 years, and they have spent that time digging very deep tunnels for their people and many of their weapons. This has the sound of truth to it – China has done the same.
The US will never make the North Koreans bend – they just aren’t into bending. There is only one thing they want from America. It’s simple. And in exchange, they would consider giving up their nuclear programme. And that is peace – a written guarantee from the US that it will not attack them or otherwise cause regime change. This has always been their demand from the 50s and will continue to be. And it is also the one thing that the US has and always will refuse to do.
You mean like the “written guarantee” of the Iran nuclear agreement.
Or the “written guarantees” in the ABM and Medium Range Treaties?
Or the “written guarantees” to supply oil fuel and power stations in the 1994 North Korea agreement?
Or the non written “guarantee” not to expand NATO “one inch” beyond Germany?
Or the 2written guarantees” given to 300 Red Indian tribes?
Why would North Korea want “written guarantees” from America? Is there a shortage of toilet paper in North Korea?
Exactly: the Yankee government has never kept a treaty with the Amer-Indians so why would any reasonable person expect to have the government keep its word in any other matter. Oh yes, it does believe in “Peace”, the peace of the dead.
Re:However, on launch, Russia and China would know.

That is why the US Airforce is updating and improving its B61 nuclear bomb, They’re added steer-able fins for gps guidance, and a fuse capable of multiple detonation strengths ranging from 5 to 50 Kilo-tons. These could be deployed in North Korea from F-35s without triggering China’s or Russia’s early warning systems

Patriotism is the last resort of scoundrels and elitists
“Vlad Gam – “Agree with Marty Hahn. Patriotism is an evil concept almost always used by politicians to blind and fool the masses (usually the unsophisticated lower classes of society with little or no education) into an undiscerning loyalty. Without the notion of “patriotism”, there would never be any gun meat for ambitious fucks with power. So there would hardly be any wars at all. This false concept is always promoted on a very large scale by governmental media to serve the interests of bloodthirsty individuals who always seem to be the beneficiaries, in one way or another, of weapon sales.””
So, these who live in Australia and New Zealand are the lucky one. I have some close relatives living over there, but if this would happen, (I Totally agree with you), would happen very quickly, and I won’t have a chance.
I wonder how many people it took to write that speech. And if Trump actually wrote any part of it.
If somebody out there actually bothered to analyze it (intel agencies?), maybe the writings of different individuals can be recognized. It sounds like some parts were simply edited in with a completely different tone from the rest of the piece.
Stephen Miller does the speech writing. Trump heavily inputs topics. Miller knows Trumps vernacular. There is synergy. Bannon used to input on “theory or ideology”.
This speech had phases and so it seems it had several authors.
They had a check list of “threats to hit”.
They had Trump’s 30-year rant against the UN.
They had to “make nice” to the General Assembly.
They had to mention Russia and China only obliquely, thus “Ukraine” and “South China Sea”.
All speeches have a lot of “input” sources. But this was actually Trump being Trump.
He hates North Korea, Assad, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba. They were the “evil ones”.
If the speech lacks coherence or isn’t anchored in realism, Trump does not care. He emotes and expects everyone to react acceptingly.
What was very interesting was how much of his speech got zero reaction or applause.
It was not accepted well. In fact, it won’t make a difference.
The problems of the world are unsolvable by the US.
I actually thought Trump would call for a full UN military readiness to conclude the Korean War. It was a UN action in 1950-53. That would have been a stroke of geopolitical genius. Assemble an alliance of all nations to force the stand down of NK.
But the US is too far gone to think that way.
All they have left is name calling: “Rocket Man”.
The solution is what Putin and Xi can fashion.
To me, there is a quite obvious difference between when Trump is reading/delivering the neocon written speeches and the Trump that appeared on the campaign trail.
Not talking about content here, although speeches like the one at the UN are of noticeably different content than say the comments about how NATO is a rip-off getting the US to pay for the defense of Europe. I’m talking about style and delivery. One can plainly tell the difference between the Trump of the campaign that appeared to be clearly speaking his mind and doing so not from a prepared text but as mostly ad-libs versus the Trump delivering a speech written for him.
I’m sure the Trump on the campaign trail was playing to the crowd. I’m not sure he really believed any of that, except that he knew he’d get applause. Which of course means that he knew he had hit on certain lines that the American voter would applaud …. like ending all of these regime change wars and bringing the troops home. I don’t think there was any deep moral belief in these things, but at the least that Trump was listening to the crowd.
But now, in the neocon written speeches that Trump is given to deliver, Trump just looks and sounds like yet another lying American President repeating the same lies that many Americans are sick and tired of hearing. Especially because they mean that they have to pay more taxes and get less back in services from a government that just says “Good Luck” when a hurricane approaches and meanwhile keep sending their children off to fight endless wars until they come home in a body bag draped in a flag.
” Trump just looks and sounds like yet another lying American President repeating the same lies that many Americans are sick and tired of hearing.”
Guys, ladies, gentlemen, why don’t we all get it that US policy does NOT depend upon whoever happens to be the sitting POTUS/puppet/façade? US Presidents come and go, but the policy remains a constant. This was Putin, BTW, voicing his thoughts in a rare moment of undiplomatic candor. US Presidents are a cut and paste job in terms of policy content; the packaging and labelling is refreshed every 4 – 8 years to keep the people buying the “Improved and New!” product. Some lies, tricks, and illusions keep working – and working – and working – forever.
Bush (the senior, not the dunce) radiated the elder’s wisdom to keep people fooled; Slick Willy bamboozled with his ooze of slimy cleverness; Bush the dunce came across as the guy willing to share beer and barbeque with America; Obama lifted many to the seventh heaven, so soaring were his speeches; and the Donald quacks non-stop, to keep all annoyed and distracted. But note the one constant, the one eternal constant: everyone of them starts a new war, or new wars, depending upon opportunities.
Yet we go on perpetually discussing US Presidents, their politics, their views, their values, their persona, their Presidential qualities, etc. Now here is my prediction: the next US President will likely be a Mickey Mouse clone. Time for a change, time for a friendlier, goofier, more lovable brand image.
In Hartlepool in England there was an election for the mayor.
Someone stood in a monkey outfit with the campaign slogan, “Vote for the monkey!”
Everybody did.
The monkey won.
maybe mickey mouse clone but they are not that good.
i predict it will be…drum roll….the first woman president
but unlikely to be hilllary.
i remember the estascy and genuine tears when…..
the first black president was inaugurated.
“When my wife and I watched this pathetic speech we starting laughing about the fact that Trump was so obscenely bad that we (almost) begin to miss Obama. This is a standing joke in our family because when Obama came to power we (almost) began to miss Dubya. The reason why this is a joke is that when Duya came to power we decided that there is no way anybody could possibly be worse than him. Oh boy were we wrong!”
LOL! These are exactly my thoughts. With Obama I really started looking back with fondness and nostalgia at Dubya. With Trump, my fondness for Dubya has grown, though getting over the nightmare that was Obama is perhaps going to elude me forever.
Questions for you bright folk here:
1.) Did Trump come in stupid or has he had stupidity thrust into him?
2.) What is the point of this theater of the absurd?
3.) Why on earth do reps of countries sit quiet like dummies in the UN and not boo, laugh, or simply walk out?
4.) Why on earth don’t the other major powers like Russia and China announce loud and clear that any further projects of death and destruction will be dealt with firmly and strongly, and the aggressors dragged away to war crime tribunals?
How about some bulleted answers, short and sweet.
Many thanks!
Just goes to show: There is only one party, there’s only ever been one party: The buy-cheap-and-sell-dear-and-fuck-the-furriners-except-for-Israel party.
1.) Did Trump come in stupid or has he had stupidity thrust into him?
Trump is an exemplary product of for century ongoing crypto-Jewish blood-liner inbreeding for heightened ruthlessness, stagecraft, narcissism and soullessness.
2.) What is the point of this theater of the absurd?
To ritualistically re-enforce the world population’s millennia-old trance state through shock and traumatization.
3.) Why on earth do reps of countries sit quiet like dummies in the UN and not boo, laugh, or simply walk out?
They are all career apparatchiks who have learned that playing dumb and numb most of the times is the best career move.
4.) Why on earth don’t the other major powers like Russia and China announce loud and clear that any further projects of death and destruction will be dealt with firmly and strongly, and the aggressors dragged away to war crime tribunals?
Lead by deeds, not by words.

Thanks for the numbered replies. Loved them, except for #4. Here is my take: Had Russia/China responded to US threats to bomb the shit out of this or that nation with loud, strong, and crystal clear messaging that that they would take it as an act of war, we may have had less of this from the US. Had there been less of this (war threats from the US), the UN reps of most countries would not have been forced to sink so low in cowardice and hypocrisy. The world would not then have become so conditioned to (and accepting of) US bombing a new country every year.
In normal times I and my charming lass would be aghast at the speech President Trump delivered to the UN General Assembly. However, these are not normal times and while I totally agree with Saker that ‘at least we don’t have President Hillary (again)’ the situation from the perspective of this bucolic little valley is evenly divided. My lass actually said perhaps The Witch would be better than what we just heard, my rejoinder was ‘If ‘she’ had happened we would already be at war’. She asked why and I simply told her to not only look at the various places we go but SEE when she looks. She thought for a few minutes and then got a rather rare grim look in her eyes and averred that yes, we are preparing for war.
I took the trouble to watch a few minutes of President Trump during his speech delivery and in my opinion this is not the presidential candidate Trump that I watched a year ago, this is someone entirely different. What happened, where is the fighter for ‘us’ that we all saw and listened to? This is the same body but not the same man. Are we, the Deplorables, the victims of a maskeerovka, a charade, or have the neocons found a way to bend him to their will? This is not the man I could not vote for, this is someone entirely different.
However, my pontifications mean nothing, reality is reality and the current world is what it is. There will be no change in these endless wars, each and every one of them America will lose as they are losing in Syria and Afghan. I can only hope that whoever is behind this puppet sitting in the White House are not stupid enough to attack Russia or for that matter North Korea. Both Mother and The Dragon have clearly said there will be no military intervention in North Korea nor will there be any US intervention in Novorossiya beyond the ever present ‘trainers and instructors’ present up to the very lines of contact in the war zone in Novorossiya. When these ‘golden pheasants’ are captured or killed they or their bodies are quietly returned to the orcs and never mentioned in news either here or there but it is a bit of a black humor grin to see in west news after half a dozen corpses are returned to the orcs of a ‘training accident’ in europe or US in which the exact same number of deaths occur as the corpses returned.
I would recommend for President Trump to read my novel for a deep look in to Russian culture and military but I doubt he can put down his twitter device long enough to read 900 pages of novel. Pity, it might wake him up to the reality of Russia. So be it, if push comes to shove he will leave the presidency as he arrived, clueless as to the Real World. More’s the pity for that and the real pity is we, the Deplorables, will suffer far more than he and his can comprehend. But, we will survive, our lives will go on and in time he and those around him will be a forgotten memory consigned to the dustbin of history while me and mine will continue onward, perhaps never affecting History but living lives of happiness and content.

Auslander,
Always look forward to your comments, be well.
Perhaps we’ll meet someday in Krim.
“What happened, where is the fighter for ‘us’ that we all saw and listened to? This is the same body but not the same man.”
I agree with you Auslander..it’s a mystery. It was only 12 months ago he sounded lucid and convincing.
Maybe the book “What Happened” should have been written about him and not Hillary…
It’s been a puzzle to me too.
Though I was never a Trump enthusiast, at least he seemed to be genuinely against war.
I don’t know why, but his ‘holiday’ speech (commemorating the ‘Holocaust’ among other items) a few months ago stayed with me.
The speech was obviously not written by him.
I may well be imagining things, but during his rather robotic delivery (which seemed to be read off autocue, judging by eye- movements ) I thought I caught a glimpse of something in his eyes… . something I didn’t expect.
Fear.
It is worth reading again, interview Putin gave to Le Figaro for he said it loud and clear what happens in White House:
“….I already talked with one US President, and with another, and with the third – the presidents come and go, but the politics don’t change. Do you know why? Because the power of bureaucracy is very strong. A man has been elected, he comes with some ideas, people with cases come to him, well-dressed and in dark suits, like me, but not with a red tie, but with black or with dark blue, and begin to explain how necessary it is to do this, and everything changes at once. It goes from one administration to another.”
Cheers to all!
@Auslander. Will there be a print edition of your first book?
Yes, working on that plus the second little tome. I don’t know the time frame but hopefully before Christmas but can’t promise on the date.
Is it possible to “die” of shame? I doubt it,for most of my life I’ve lived with the shame and disgrace my country has become. And so far I’m still living. But for the Russians and Belorussians in particular (I would have added Ukrainians, but of course not now),to hear Trump claim the victory against nazism that was paid for by the blood of their people. And to sit silently. That is a shame I’m not sure how they can live with.If Russia is on the rooster to make a speech (its not always the leader that speaks in the UN),I think if I was the Russian speaker, I would throw away my career. And tell Trump what a disgrace and insult his speech was to the millions of my people that died in the war. And that he should bow his head in shame over his lies. Yes,certainly,I’d be fired by the Kremlin for it. But it would be worth it for my “Russian soul”,to do it.
As for the rest of the speech, with threatening countries right there in the UN building.A direct violation of the UN Charter.Only the North Korean envoy had the “guts” and fortitude to get up and walk out.The others sit and listened to him insult them without a murmur. If anyone is foolish enough to wonder how the US can think they can control the world. You have your answer right there. They think that way because they see it in front of them. There are over a 190 countries in the UN .And according to a piece a couple of days ago in RT. The US has lined up (for now) 128 of them for the “reforms” they want. Most of those states are tiny stooges true, but in numbers they are the majority. And thrown in the mix are big EU states as well.
Unless and until, countries openly defy the empire and stand together against it. It won’t matter how many military victories the US wins or not. They will still cow the world, using money, fear, and threats of chaos and destruction, to get what they want. And why wouldn’t they? When no one will openly stand against them (except a friendless North Korea),they have no reason to stop their actions,if it works don’t fix it.
Yes UB, it is shameful esp. not acknowledging the great sacrifice by the Soviet peoples and China who between them lost the majority of people during the Great Patriotic war. What is gauling is for him to mention France – a country whose government capitulated and surrendered to the Nazis and worked closely with the Nazis – Vichy Govt; Poland another country who played games, go to pre war early 30’s; swapped sides and had the most concentration camps of any country (don’t tell me the population didn’t know). Neither of these countries really had much to do with the setting up of the UN – even though France got a seat at the UNSC and a portion of post war Berlin.
The fact Trump stands at the UN without knowing its history and threatening war to several countries says it all….
Saker, RT had a few highlights of his speech on their news show and after seeing the gist of it on line – I avoided listening to anything he said. Thank you for listening to it and giving us the main points – without having to endure the process of watching. Agree with all your conclusions.
Can’t get images of Dr Strangelove out of my head…….
France was defeated militarily; they were poorly led and “fighting the last war.”
Germany’s armored columns punched through on narrow fronts and encircled them, cutting off supply lines. It is how a smaller force can defeat a larger one. Surrender or be slaughtered are the options then.
Many collaborated thereafter, of course
An appropriate and timely article reminding us all the truth about the countries who enabled WWII:
https://sputniknews.com/analysis/201709291057809731-munich-agreement-uk-france-italy-nazi/
“The Munich pact of September 29, 1938, paved the way for Nazi Germany’s dominance in Europe and its march eastward, Canadian professor Michael Jabara Carley told Sputnik. Present day efforts to re-write the history of WWII in the West is an attempt to justify grave mistakes committed by European states and pin all the blame on Russia.
The Munich Agreement signed 79 years ago by Nazi Germany, Great Britain, France and Italy wrecked efforts to create an anti-Nazi coalition and opened the door to Adolf Hitler’s invasion of Europe and the nightmare of the Second World War, ………………For nearly six years the Soviet government worked tirelessly to promote collective security in Europe,” the Canadian professor highlighted. “Soviet policy was in effect a proposal to recreate the anti-German Entente of World War I, including fascist Italy.”
“However, Soviet offers of cooperation were spurned in France, Britain, Romania and Poland. The promising rapprochement between the USSR and the US after meetings between President Franklin Roosevelt and the commissar for foreign affairs, Maxim M. Litvinov, in the autumn of 1933 “was sabotaged by the Sovietophobe Department of State………”

F***, I had a good laugh!! muy bueno, espectacular ….
I heard some of this statements on my car radio when driving home.
First I heard that ‘the USA is no longer the policemen of this world’. Then, ‘The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.’ I have laughed out loud.
And then the part of taking ‘your own country first’. Yeah, that makes international negotiation and international law fruitful, doesn’t it? Or was this just about getting aired, and hopefully lifting the homefront approval rates instead of getting things done?
Yeah, wipe the DPRK of the face of this earth. That will really help. But, they will fight back from underground, because they have learned from the last devastating war in the fifties.
Ok, the neocons are happy? Fine. Now what, how many losses are you prepared eventually to sell at your home front?
My thoughts are that there was and is a good compromise on the table: SK and USA stop their yearly massive military DPRK invasion drills, and the DPRK stops their nuclear development. Fair deal, I might say. The USA has shoved it aside rudely, and now they are complaining that the other side is not shivering?
Still, I’m wondering if this not a distraction. DPRK is not that important, not a threat at all, just surviving remembering Lybia, and sober minds in the USA (I do hope) realize that attacking the DPRK is starting WW3. China has said that it would defend the DPRK when attacked. They are not agreed with USA soldiers at their border (Russia as well, as might be experienced in a while?).
The real first price for the neocons, could it be Iran? Even after the Syria fail? Could it be that DPRK is just a distraction, just the yearly shouting, just the perfect excuse to arm up SK and Japan further against the ‘evil and mortal danger’, so conveniently close to the east borders of Russia and China? Just a thought.
Remember that China and Korea just hate Japan. That is an essential point. It’s not disliking, no, it’s real hate. History is not easily forgotten there.
I have the idea that it’s just shouting and d*ck measuring for now. I’ve got the feeling that Iran is the first priority. Israel is getting nervous. It’s peculiar quiet in the KSA after the coup, or am I mistaken? Or are things brewing there? I’m curious.
You are on to something, Rob. The intent is to get the American public in the mood for war. It doesn’t matter who is specified for being warred upon. Let’s remember, Americans have no idea where any of these countries are on a world map, or even conceptually as to the continent concerned. They’re all the same; that’s the utility, effect, and purpose of uniquely American geographical ignorance. No accident there.
The name of the country they are attacking never makes any real difference to the stupid bastards. All that matters is war fever and belligerence. That proves that the real criminals are American citizens. The citizenry could stop this in a minute. They may be led by criminals, but love and praise the result. I see no meaningful protest in the US about the horrible threats Trump made at the UN. Maybe it is happening; if so, someone can enlighten me. People decry the diplomats’ failure to walk out, but give American citizens a free pass for backing this evil.
So they are gunning for Iran next, because they are, for the moment, stymied with North Korea. It’s not a decoy strategy in the strictest sense of the term, but a related effect, like a bait-and-switch. Trump gets them in the mood for blood with his explicit threat against North Korea, then when that is found/demonstrated/said to be impractical, the loose cannon simply shifts somewhere else and lets fire. At Iran, for instance. It could be Venezuela, but Israel wants Iran attacked sooner, so it’s Iran that is next.
Stupid Americans think all the nations listed by Trump are homogeneously evil, each as black as the other, compared to American pure white. No distinction in their tiny minds. Screw these evil cretins. Feel free to revile them. They are earning it.
I understand your frustration but keep in mind that something like 62,979,636 people voted for Trump who promised; an end to wars, withdrawal from Syria, an end to funding NATO, a reduction of military spending, an emphasis on repair of US infrastructure and return of meaningful well paying jobs.
US citizens know what they want, it’s just every time they think they have voted in an agent of change they find; as Putin said, men in black suits tell the new President how the game is played.
It’s not us, it’s them:(
A very, very good analysis
Far and away the most salient comment though, was this:
“However, the USA themselves are now the prime victim of a decapitated Presidency”
How many Americans have grasped this yet I wonder?
Fundamental to everything that happens in the USA from here on surely.
What would the upcoming civil war you foresee be fought around the issues of?
I would add a few more questions to yours, Zena.
Is the decapitated presidency just an interlude or a cover for unlawful use of State assets (in many ways imagined or seen already) and for what purpose? Or we are seeing a genuine conflict waged between the Deep State itself, even a purge maybe? If latter is the case what would be the nature of the rift and its trigger?
My take is that we are seeing the latter. Why? Because all empires need to project the picture that they are Monolithic and right now they shredding that illusion to bits with all the energy at their disposal and are tearing the very fabrics that keep society together in their own house as opposed to other people houses.
As to what could be the nature of the the rift and trigger i have no clue. But as the actors in that case must be within Deep State i guess that whoever comes on top would not be a desirable outcome for a humanity as whole. Similar state i see in Germany. Exception is that in Germany, one side is willing to cooperate with Russians via the Nord Stream so it can be assumed that big chunk of that side would be industrial. None of them, in my view are patriotic and willing to participate in multipolar world and treat others as equals or respect the wishes of it’s citizens,… the list goes on we should all know it by now.
If that is the case it could be possible to avert civil war, because there is a third party involved (very much) and those are the citizens of US (and Germany,in Germany and others elsewhere), by far the biggest and least powerful. Although, from what i observe, without Divine intervention i see it highly unlikely.
Sorry Saker, Trump is a part of the establishment. Always has been, always will be. His reading from the script of his so called Neo Con puppet masters revealed his true loyalties. ( He is loyal to THEM, the Neo Cons. His populism was a carefully choreographed illusion. Trump is a creation of elite Ivy League social engineers) I always knew it from the very start. Today, this speech offered him an opportunity to fudge stuff. He obviously did NOT fudge anything. In fact, he relished his role of establishment huckster. His delivery, spot on precise. Almost a mesmerizing cadence. He has been groomed for this moment for years. The fly overs will embrace this speech. It will emboldened their stupidity/ their lack of edducation. The Manhattan establishment fear these fly overs more then anything else. The need to distract them with fear of “the other” is a tried and true method of ruling. The banality of evil is nothing new. History has witnessed it time and time again. The dog barks and the caravan moves on.Sadly for the fly overs, there will be no more caravans once they take to heart their MK Ultra lemming march over the clifts, which is what the social engineers are planning on. Just my two cents. Cheers!
You nailed it with patriotic liturgy — one could go into why this word choice is so apt: suffice it to say the are deep religious reasons this is so. I get the impression that the message is intended for the domestic US audience. As far as Venezuela and socialism goes trump is talking in American political neologisms, and as much as I believe in the analysis of Ludwig Mises regarding central planning, what’s really going on is American/Globalist imperialism and a form of nationalist resistance. The Iran deal was the one thing Obama did that I somewhat approved of, but Obama did it so Trump has to diss it. And then the ridiculous spin on Syria. Bottom line: Trump talked to the world to talk to Americans, selling the Trump brand.
The alt-right and their allies seem to be hung up on the kind of central planning that dictates that dictates that x number of toasters are to be produced in a year, or the unjust absurdity that Domino’s Pizza was penalized for selling pizza half price on Tuesday. They are blind to the central planning that labels some nations as pariahs, tolerates others, and elevates yet others to exceptional status.
As commenters have noted at other sites, Obama also threatened Korea with Genocide. Indeed, much of Trump’s speech was remixed/recycled Obama crap. The one positive outcome is having seen/listened to Trump, more nations will gain the courage to join the Multipolar Alliance as it becomes ever clearer that the Unipolar seeking hegemon must be tranquilized, neutered and put out to pasture.

ONE WAR CAN HIDE ANOTHER
After the Caliphate, Rojava
While the Syrian Arab Army, the Russian aviation and Hezbollah are preparing to finish off Daesh, the Pentagon is planning a new war against Syria, this time with Kurdish troops. Just as the mission of the Caliphate was to create a Sunnistan straddling Iraq and Syria, so the mission of « Rojava » is to create a Kurdistan straddling the two states, as the Pentagon has been publicly stating for the last four years.

Trump Wants to ‘Get Along’ With Russia But Is Powerless to Make It Happen.
The academic pointed out that “in his refusal to challenge the foreign policy and military establishment, Trump might have painted himself into the corner where the only thing he might be able to do is to send bombers into a foreign territory.” “Consequently, the old establishment is bound to generate endless provocations, in the hope that the Russian response to these provocations could be used by the Washington propaganda machine as an example of Russian danger, which requires continuous investments in militarism,” he elaborated.

Trump Prevented War Between Saudi Arabia And Qatar In Last Minute: Report.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-09-19/trump-reportedly-prevented-war-between-saudi-arabia-and-qatar
This piece is a slight to the Clinton presidency. I maintain that the four baby boomer presidents are in a heated race for worst in American history, and none clearly stands out at this point, though Trump shows great promise.
Clinton deregulated the financial sector, leading to the collapsed economy in 2008 with another iteration soon to follow. He initiated the eastward creep of NATO, making an enemy out of a nuclear superpower capable of reducing the U.S. to so many radiating bits. In Yugoslavia he turned NATO into an instrument of international terror. He deregulated telecommunications, locking down the mainstream media into a concentrated ownership of empire propagandists. He completely divorced the Democratic Party from any association with or concern for the poor and working class.
These policy “achievements” alone are enough to make his case, but consider also the tenor of the times set by him and his wife, two of the most corrupt politicians ever to find their way to Washington. Clinton time was when most thinking people finally understood that the U.S. was lost and not worth caring about. The ’90s was when we finally arrived at hell in the hand basket.
Absolutely spot on correct re: the disastrous Clinton presidency. Ridiculous that he was called a “liberal”. And yes, each president is worse than the last by an order of magnitude.
The one statement that always true regarding American presidents is the answer to the question, “Who was the worst American president?” For possibly 50 years, the correct answer never changes; “The current one”. Quite amazing, when you think about it.
The North Korean envoy walked out of the room before Trump came to the podium.
The Iranian envoy played with his phone all through Trump’s tirade.
Good on them both.
Trump reminded me of a nasty teacher I had when I was 11 yrs old — when addressing the school assembly (50 students – it was a small school) he liked to berate and humiliate the so called ‘naughty’ students by announcing their misdeeds and making them stand up.
The expression on the faces of USA contingent was entertaining. Tillerson sat stone faced – witch Haley stared straight ahead with fake admiration for her boss. Priceless.
I read this as I honestly do not want to listen to whatever Trump read out loud from the speech written for him by ”whoever” … Trump is an embarrasment to all, but of course more so the real Americans who still can think just a little… whatever he says or Mattis says or or or – it is all PR BULLSHIT…. they are such loosers… bad loosers.
Wait for DPRK’s response to Trumps speech. Perhaps a looonger range missile test
A good piece. There’s no chance of a civil war in the US, though. What looks to be coming is an Orwellian crack down.

I expect Surprises, and everybody knows how much the Premier loves Surprises! (as we were informed by Ambassador DeSadski in Strangelove… Well, so do I!
I don’t know about how it will go for Iran, if our Brother twilight’s prediction run true, but a Salamis defeat…for empire’s navy would seem probable…in addition to much damage elsewhere. In Strategy the winning forms are generally the indirect long term ones…direct force creates resistance that tends to ruin fixed strategies, protean responses, Cathodic..
Iran may go like Napoleon and Moscow…glorious victory, and then, and so it goes.
Pity…

@It is really sad, and scary, to see how much the USA of the 2017 looks like the Soviet Union of the 1980s.
It reminds me a remark of a friend, who in the late 80s, immigrant from a Communist country to a ‘developed’ country which was ‘developing’ the kind of vapid language of ‘mission statements’, goals, etc: “We come from your future”!
Donald Trump is the perfect ruler for American, as he embodies in more open and naked from what American Values(tm) are really about:
The perfect combination of arrogance and ignorance.
I’d be inclined to soften one of your sentences: “…Dubya was a heck of a lot dumber than Obama…” to instead: “Dubya was dumber than Obama”.
Here is an excerpt from Obama’s final press conference on 16 December, 2016:
“The Russians can’t change us or significantly weaken us”, said Obama: “They are a smaller country. They are a weaker country. Their economy doesn’t produce anything that anybody wants to buy, except oil and gas and arms. They don’t innovate”.
If they can’t change us or significantly weaken us, then clearly they did not hack our election. That, plus the following four sentences have to be just as foolish as any pronouncement by Dubya.
I believe that the Pindos have a plan for Afghanistan and that their plan is working fine – they sit there and block anyone like the Chinese doing anything positive with the country, while embezzling billions of dollars and running the opiate trade.
The only positive part of the speech was a statement that the U.S. would hereafter resettle refugees in their own part of the world at less than 1/10th of the cost instead of importing them into the states. If that actually happens.
Depending on the breaks, as General Turgidson put it in Strangelove, Depending on the breaks talks like this one from the T-Man might well, ahem… well the files, films, and documents proffered or taken from the nazis themselves…Nuremberg…and so it goes, sometimes. Like Machiavelli said, nothing will damn your like your own writing.. (something like that anyway) Are we too damned? I don’t believe it…
But have pity! These fools are made mad by their…you know…and everybody, including perhaps paradoxically they themselves, know it…so their Phobos and Deimos rule their minds…and so it goes. Sorta natural…at the end of the day…they’re just schmucks. Fakes. Rude. Illiterate…and really helpless, acting out their destinies…as Chaplin put it
It may as well be as George Carlin said, a freak show, and we gotta a front row seat at Armageddon…
The Junta was about what we here at LZ HQ expected…better than the female person…bought some time…
Well, when civil control goes poof! and macroeconomic secondary after-effects coincide with fellas who are experts at applying force…well it does seem that they’re in a conundrum. And they’ve talked themselves and acted themselves into a zero-alternative trap they can’t back down from.
It has become obvious that some significantly changed policy actions have been initiated fairly rapidly, and with increasing speed. Some might say that the “guest” has been shown the door, but the next phase is beginning – the phase where the ejected party slides nose-down in the mud…that’s just starting now. A phase change in the situation – that’s my sense anyway…not that it matters.
Sorta like England in August 1914…
Let us hope, ‘case that’s all there is, Friends. We ain’t dead yet.
Bummer about the banana republic display of colossal rudeness, how humiliating a way to end things, pitiful.

I presume other UN powers are going to get their turn at the podium.
Russia and China are already on record as saying: “No regime change, regime collapse, accelerated reunification or military deployment north of the 38th parallel dividing the Korean Peninsula.” and China has said it slightly differently: “if the US attacks NK first, we will stop them”.
So when Putin gets the microphone, he could, using English, say what a disgrace it is that the US President offers to ‘solve’ this problem by “totally destroying” NK, which would be a naked aggression, and is absolutely contrary to the Charter of the UN.
He could then state that the B1-B nuclear bombers will be shot down, and their F-35 escorts too, or their ancient Minuteman missiles intercepted and their aircraft carriers in the Korean theatre sunk. Then the US can decide whether to have WW3 with Russia, or not.
Then Xi could say, “Remove the THAAD radars from South Korea or we will take them out. Stop your pivot to Asia. Go back to fixing your problems at home, which are many.”
All things that got us excited about the possibilities that Trump announced during his campaign and has since dropped. Make it clear that the rest of the world has had enough of the world’s sole superpower and it’s self-appointed policeman.
It’s up to you, superman.
Netanyahu says that it was the best speech ever. I think that answers the question of who the speech was for.
How does one go from Trump 12 months ago to this? The same way all before him. He has things explained to him. I think Bill Hicks was correct: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJPwM8nehkQ
All kidding aside it all comes down to the US dollar being the world’s reserve currency. When they lose that they can’t fund their empire and it all comes crashing down. Every president is hog tied by that reality. Say what they want to get elected then do as they are told. There is always hope when a new president is elected but it comes down to the lesser of 2 evils. Was Trump better than H Clinton? Hell yea. Was Obama better than Mcain in 2008? Hell yea. But to expect anything to really change is just wishful thinking.
Do you think Trump or Obama want to be the president who presides over the demise of their empire? The one who “blows it”? The Gorbachev / Yeltsin of the USA? Of course not. Their egos couldn’t take it so they go along with the “preserve the reserve at ANY cost” strategy because it’s all they have.
As China, Russia and Iran continue to do business in non-US dollars others will join. Is it any wonder why those 3 are the prime targets of the US wrath? Got to nip this in the bud before others join in. Venezuela is such a basket case economically they will be easy to overthrow but the big 3 will remain and more in Asia will join.
I hope it ends with a whimper not a bang but it could go either way.
Maybe Trump is taking the piss out of the US military and the neocons?
They have cornered him so he has gone ahead and spewed out their worst aspects.
Russia and China will do nothing if they bomb N.Korea and Kim knows it. That’s the reason why they have a nuclear plan to erase that smiling face of the hegemon.
Trump has been saying that same crap for months and Kim still doesn’t care. The hegemon doesn’t act because is afraid, CIA operatives doesn’t have good information about N.Korea real capabilities at all.
People say Kim is crazy but the reality is that you can’t trust the hegemon. Trump is trying to fool the koreans to see if they are stupid enough to give up their nuclear plan and then invade.
That tiny country is making the almighty American empire look very weak.
Trump’s speech came just a few minutes after UN Secretary General called upon the nations to abandon monologues and start a dialogue. Trump then used a forum founded to stop war to give a monologue threatening war, what the hell has happened to America?
When Frankenstein’s Monster makes a threatening noise, on should look toward Dr Frankenstein.
I did- the BBC, the propaganda arm of Britain’s intelligence agencies- zoomed in on one aspect of the speech- the promise to take America to war against Iran. The BBC uncoded the speech, and then stated how much that promise would please Saudi Arabia and Israel.
I see fools here still dribbling about N Korea- swallowing the misdirections of the zionist press hook line and sinker. But N Korea is used to work people up and expect a grand American military action. It’s just that said action is going to be directed at Iran- and never N Korea (whose very existence is America’s gift to Japan, keeping the former slave nation of Korea divided so it cannot displace Japan as the no.2 power in the region).
Did PNAC promise a strike on N Korea? Please don’t anyone here tell me they’ve forgotten PNAC. Iran is the final and most important target listed in PNAC. And the US war on Iran is going to normalise the use of nuclear warheads- albeit of a tech unfamiliar to most of you since most of you think all nukes are far bigger than even the biggest conventional bomb.
A new form of war is coming. The modern guided bomb war was christened in the first Gulf War. Now that’s old hat. NATO and America are on the verge of upgrading to war by nuke. And Iran will be the first battleground to witness such a war.
Blair and the male Clinton turned their nations to the mass production of new tactical nuke warheads- all of which are manufactured in facilities in the USA. These allow for lighter more powerful guided missile warheads specifically designed to level whole facilities in Iran.
While fools mock or dismiss Trump’s speech by ignoring the key elements, Trump went out of his way to promise to attack only one nation- Iran. Sure he demonised other nations or ***conditionally*** threatened them – SOP for a US president. But he only unconditionally threatened one nation – Iran- and told the audience to look and see what America would do to it in the very near future.
You may say Trump will need an ‘excuse’ to hit Iran- but in truth any laughable fake news report will do. The US military, with the British and France, are practicing a massive ‘decapacitation strike’ day and night- with the actual target currently unspecified. Assad remains an outside possibility. But Iran is what they want.
Trump’s strike will have no media build-up. It will be day one massive nationwide bombing, with warheads destroying every government building, military base and military facility. It’s stated goal will be the elimination of all regime elements- so the ‘people’ can rise up and take back their country. It will be designed to shock the entire planet and make the power of the West seem utterly unrivaled- especially by China or Russia.
Fools always think the West will fight in a ‘fair’ or ‘predictable’ way. Fools think the West’s failure in traditional ground fighting is a significant failure of the West’s war machines. But the Deep State wants the old way of fighting to be unacceptable to the people of the West- for that way of fighting is now too much of a level playing field.
The West has won and won and won because it has evolved and evolved and evolved. Its enemies were proud of their mastery of outdated methods.
How do American policemen operate. By using the most grotesque overkill against the most vulnerable targets. And American cops use whatever weapons they can- no matter how wrong for the situation. Same as the Israeli jews when they go to ‘war’ agaisnt the helpless civilians the zionists label as ‘sub-Human’. And Trump wants the planet’s biggest murder machine- the US armed forces- to have the same lack of restraint.
The plan to use nukes agaisnt Iran is very long standing. And Trump’s thinking- ie if the US army is set upon a target, it must be allowed to use all means for rapid certain success- coincides with this desire for nukes perfectly.
Once America nukes Iran to bits, all other nations except China and Russia will tremble at America’s will. A few will turn to Russia and ask “will you protect us” and Putin will immediately answer “no”. China will look upon Putin’s feebleness with despair and accelerate their preparation for the worst. Does this all ring a bell? Hitler’s bold use of ‘new’ war methods before WW2, and the world giving in to the nazis in fear. World War 2 thus becoming unavoidable.
Never forget, Putin could stop all this with a single sentence- namely “any attack on Iran will be treated as an attack on Russia itself”. How does Trump know Putin will never say this, no matter how many times Trump does with respect to America’s allies? How does Trump know that so many who claim to be on our side will contort their minds in any way possible to find excuses for Putin? How does Trump know that everyone will sit back and allow America to attack Iran? But he does know, just as Hitler knew.
Trump’s performance happened because of his utter conviction of escaping unchallanged. That the ‘worst’ he would face was mocking and insults. “sticks and stones…”. You could see his conviction on his face- the expression a person of power has when he knows no-one in the room will dare to trouble him.
When Iran speaks at the UN, America very publicly insults Iran in the room itself- loudly storming out with a retinue of other zionist members. When Trump promises to murder Iran the Iranian rep just sits there passively. And fools think this is ‘dignity’. Only the weak man is quiet like a whipped dog cowering in the corner of the room.
‘Masters’ feel like masters when others treat them as masters. No-one can feel like a master when they are never given reason to. And when a man is mad, bad and very powerful, you must never give him even the tiniest modicum of respect. Instead you make him so fearful of losing that power his actions are dominated by that fear.
Yesterday Trump felt like a reality TV personality in a dream. Today Trump thinks himself god’s representative on Earth. His handlers are getting a grip on Trump’s real potential- and that’s as an old school full on power crazed insane Roman Emperor like Caligula. And Iran is to be the lesson that the new ‘god’ teaches the world.
I don’t believe it, if that were the case then it would have happened years ago, there was a massive military build up around Iran, and then …. nothing.
Iran is not the end all, its Russia (and China. ) Iran is the path to Russia. But the whole thing is a huge mess, the Zionist nazi forces are desperate , and losing. Yes they might commit suicide and genocide and finish us all of, but I’d say it’s mostly bluff. Yes they are building up the war machine on the borders of Russia and China, but why? To really invade as part of a massive Third World War fighting china russia and Iran and co ? With all those Nukes? What chance of success?
I think it’s more likely North Korea will get it, and irradiate Russian and china in the process…….yes South Korea and Japan will be finished, but what do the pentagon care about Them?! Nothing…..
Of course Venuzuala is more practical a sacrificial victim , unlike Iran NK, china and Russia I don’t believe they have the military power to withstand the zionazi assault. Interesting times……..god help us all.
Is there a coherent plan by the US? It doesn’t seem like it.
After the abjectly infantile display at the UN, how can the US retire gracefully?
Does the US have some sooper-dooper weapon to unleash?
LZ sees twilight’s thesis as, though of course describing the unthinkable crime, to be a probable forecast of actions…well considered, within the compass of an insane junta and delusional clubs that loot (“run” )so much of the world.
If so, the hullabaloo at Korea is in fact a blocking maneuver…one that can go bang is Ivan and Chin are “bad”… while Iran gets it. Right…remember Salamis? Persia does…
No plan survives first contact, especially against State and Nations established over thousands of years – more than 3000 for Korea, jus’ fer starters…and especially if they know you’re coming and know what you intend…like Salamis…
Brother D. O. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/47845.htm writes about collapse triggers…
He leaves out Salamis, I do not… A Salamis naval defeat…and then? Or shall the Fates reverse the sequence?
I see a significant error in his thesis, but not a fatal one…he’s got a sound conclusion…the war’s over when the dollar’s gone…more or less. I would quibble some, in the details, but it’s sound essay, I say.
It’s also clear that diplomacy has ended in the realpolitik arena…a bit of showmanship is all remaining…and what comes when diplomacy ends?
Right. Some deep level policy changes at Ivan’s Dacha, and probably withing the Celestial Kingdom have, it’s obvious, been taken according to the ethics of the objective situation. Plans are running… 3,2,1…
I hope not, but it looks clear to my old eye…
Pax
I would add that I disagree with the idea that “the West” has won anything of value…rather the other way ’round, but yes, they will (or according to their perception, “must” do Iran…and about ten seconds after they start the ships will start to sink…Salamis 2,0… Iran may be vaporized, but who would win after the navy is gone?
WW3 will not, VVP made plain, be fought on Ru soil…
But Persian? It depends…
What a pathetic display of tTM (our illustrious junta and their stooge…)
(tTM = el presidente and his “pals”)
When the US’s proxy army invaded Syria, Russia didn’t sit back and just watched. If the US attacks Iran, which borders Russia, why would Russia not do anything?
The proxy army is on the verge of defeat but the US hasn’t threatened to nuke Syria. Why save the nukes for Iran? Is an Iran destroyed by nukes a more terrifying example for the world than a Syria destroyed by nukes?
This is just nonsense. I´ve always thought that twilight is a very sophisticated troll and this also proves it. What is his message? What he wants to tell us? That US will remain always as a winner and resistance is futile. Don´t fall to this trap. He presents his propaganda as a warning to us, but in fact he wants us to believe that this mess is only a theater, and US controls everything behind the curtain and is all-mighty. I will never believe that Iran will be the “lesson that the new “god” teaches the world”. I believe that some desperate folks in US are planning that kind of a lesson. No surprise, it would be very similar than nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That time Truman&Co wanted to show the true power of US and sow fear to the rest of the world. Twilight is suggesting that same scenario is taking place in the near future in Iran. But the world has changed very much after the WW2. Trump has no potential, his hands are tied. And US is losing this war, slowly but surely. Resistance inside EU against US is growing every day, also among elites. I feel that they only wait for the right time.
https://www.rt.com/news/403920-trump-macron-iran-deal/
“How does Trump know that everyone will sit back and allow America to attack Iran? But he does know, just as Hitler knew.”
Also, it´s clear that twilight doesn´t want to understand the Russian mindset(and Chinese). Putin never over-reacts, but he´s very determined when he does something. And he simply can´t afford to let Iran alone, if US attacks there. Those days are over when Russians just sat and watched how US destroyed ME. Are you suggesting that there´s a great conspiracy? To start a WW3, in a way that US will be the winner, again? But in your example Trump has Hitlers role. BTW, also Maduro compares Trump to Hitler, in a Sputnik article(link below).
“When Trump promises to murder Iran the Iranian rep just sits there passively. And fools think this is ‘dignity’. Only the weak man is quiet like a whipped dog cowering in the corner of the room.”
What a bullshit! Iranians are truly heroes. Look what´s happened in Syria. And Iranians didn´t just sit in UN passively: https://sputniknews.com/world/201709201057545332-hitler-trump-maduro-zarif-un/
So, more and more forces are uniting against the evil empire. Look what´s happened in recent three years. It´s pretty amazing. Who would believe in 2015 that Assad will still remain in power? Who would believe in 2014 that Russia will survive economically? If all this is really a theater, then it´s a face-saving theater for US. Unfortunately, they don´t seem to understand the name of the game.
My own views and analysis, exactly, but you have presented it so well that there is really nothing major to add except the caveat that, in politics and geopolitics, all analyses and predictions are “probable truths”, not certainties. The balance of probabilities, as best as we can see such things, is in line with your analysis. Truth, even probable truth, can be very painful and damaging to dearly-held beliefs and illusions, so don’t expect to earn too much agreement and appreciation.
i see you are very clairvoyante or can actually predict what putin thinks and will do,
along with xi of china too…man i’d like some of that stuff you’ve been smoking.
iran’s got massive underground facilities… at least i remember the occupied
washington aparatchiks were debating how to produce deep penetrating delayed
explosive bunker busters several years ago.
There’s a fact that must be noticed.
During 2 centurys, the US army officer model was the ancient Royal Navy officer, I mean “officer AND GENTLEMAN”!!!!!
It seems that since Patton US army model are not gentlemen at all, but stupid and rude first sergent. A coarse non-commissioned officer, big mouth and small brain is now the model of american generals.
Then it appears that US army became a coarse big mouth without brain army.
In history of humankind there never, never, never be a good army directed by officers with such behavior.
What do they learn in West Point and Anapolis? Become Sergent Blood and Guts?
Not only in the Army
Barking dogs don’t bite. And as long the US barks that loud they have no clue what to do next.
They all behave like idiots, crying loud with hands up joggling and running in circles.
You better not give a glimpse of a sh** on Trump barking around. You better say: “Oh, Trump still barking? Then all is fine!”.
But woe it’s going to be quiet all around, the listen up immediately!
This speech may reflect the departure of Bannon. I am no fan of Bannon but he was mostly anti-interventionist.
It is a bit disappointing that you had to rely on the “read a book” and “it’s the 21st century” logical fallacy when you were talking about Trumps comment on Socialism. There would have been indefinitely other possible ways to debunk this part of Trumps speech.
Saker
“The only question here is whom exactly Trump’s speech-writers are aiming that nonsense at? Do they really think that there is anybody out there who sincerely believes this? If the target audience are US middle schools then, yes, okay. But does anybody believe that US middle school students listen to UN speeches?! Okay, maybe senile folks also believe that, I sure know a few who will swallow it up and ask for more, but why speak to that audience from a UN podium?”
Trump’s is speaking to his core media supporters, the zionazi queen network (clear channel’s “conservative” talk radio and related propagandists). They are trump’s media promoters, he is buddies with some of the pundits there, also, and shares their extremist, neocon world view. What trump said is what these freaks say all the time.
The other audience trump spoke to are the listeners of that media network. These make up the core trump popular support and the rubbish trump said at the UN is the sort of zionazi rubbish these people have been completely indoctrinated with. I’m sure both radio and listeners are eating this toss up right now.
The zionazi/neocon foreign policy described by trump at the UN is the real trump. The trump on the campaign trail, was the marketed trump sold to get a few extra votes, enough to get elected.
America’s “defense industries”, aka “Merchants of Death” are a bunch of corrupt traitors.
The first part, ie the ‘corrupt’ part, is a matter of record, as they run up buy off Congress and Presidents to get contracts, the run up massive cost overruns to run up the bill far beyond what they said when the lied to Congress to get the contract, then they fake test results to keep the contracts going to the point where they and their bought Congress-people can say there is no longer any alternative.
But I suppose the ‘traitor’ part needs some explanation, especially since these companies, their executives and many of their stockholders present themselves as some sort of “uber-patriots” who are defending America.
To me, a “traitor” is someone who’s supposed to be providing a service to the nation, but who is instead concentrating on other items which are quite different. These days, a “traitor” is defined in the corporate press (highly influenced by these “defense industries” if not controlled by them) as someone who talks to a Russian or who appears on a Russian tv network or website. But I use the term a bit differently, in that I’m calling out as “traitors” those who rip-off the country and produce inferior weapons that won’t pass anything but a rigged test at massive costs.
That’s the reason why the penchant of American conservatives like Trump for throwing money at problems like national defense is failing. They are giving the money to traitors who are not committed to the defense of the nation, but who are only interested in robbing the country blind and producing weapons like the F-35 or the Gerald Ford CV as a result. And that’s the ones that even work, unlike the stuff Donald Rumsfeld wasted the country’s money on that don’t work and which were designed to fight the wrong wars.
In a nutshell, that’s the current American political system. Former President Jimmy Carter correctly calls it an oligarchy, and the oligarchs are interested only in keeping taxpayer dollars flowing into their pockets. They pay for a corrupt media that supports every war and every weapon system, they pay for a corrupt Congress that approves these wars and these weapons, and they pay for corrupt Presidents who guarantee more wars and more weapons. Then they produce weapons that don’t work and don’t win wars, and demand more and more money. I’m sure right now there is somewhere on the drawing boards some multi-billion dollar ship-board navigation system that will gurantee that the USN will stop running into slow moving merchant ships because the officers standing watch weren’t paying any attention.
All of which is why when America throws money at the problems invented by the military, it doesn’t work.
It was almost dream like (nightmare-like?), whatever, that same undeniable feeling of “something just isn’t right!”
I almost felt guilty for laughing…
… because it is so very dark.
Not ever really having watched them, I am no expert, but it sure seems like a POTUS Reality TV Show.
All hot air, and ridiculous posturing, with the most sociopathic negative sum gain, gamesman coming out on top, eventually?
I’m not talking about Trump, I’m talking about the lead men/persons for the competing factions of the 0.1%.
I’m finding more and more, the polar assignments of a. neocon/neoliberal, b. left/right to be misrepresenting the actual mechanics of these political economics. What we have are competing ego-freak-sociopaths, and their gangs, all with one common ideological ‘prime directive’ to acquire/wield the maximum power possible; everything else is detail of the ‘roadmap’ to accomplish the prime directive.
I think, collectively, the discussion can get to ideation/solutioning better, with better potential outputs, then continuing with misleading binary label assignments.
Thanks for all the chuckles (I appreciate the article greatly).
There was this Canadian guy, who said something like “the medium is the message”.
History will determine if Trump was under the control of the neocons before or after he became President. After he came to the White House, all he has been doing is promoting the interests of the Military Industrial Complex. I don’t believe that the US defense budget is 700 billion. It’s probably larger, bearing in mind that outside the US there are 700 combat bases and 300 supply bases. How much do they just cost to maintain and operate ? What about all the other costs (war costs, pay, pensions, military hardware, etc.) ? The Military Industrial Complex is draining the US financially, yet at the same time the US has a gigantic foreign and domestic debt, not to mention the fact that the dollar is printed backed by nothing. At the same time both Russia and China are preparing to introduce gold backed currencies, and both are already trading in their domestic currencies. Venezuela is now selling it’s oil priced in Chinese yuans. When the US dollar is discarded as an international instrument of payment, what are the US Fed, Wall Street and the Military Industrial Complex going to do when they end up with a heap of dollars which nobody wants ? How will the US function ? What will the US defense budget be then ?
BF
The military budget is $1,200 billion, not $700 billion.
Plus another $100 billion for the sprawling “Intelligence” empire. (850,000 personnel.)
The $700 billion figure does not include the following:-
1. The cost of waging wars abroad, currently fighting in at least 7 countries and probably a lot more. It costs $3.5 million a year to keep one soldier in Afghanistan for a year. It costs $250 to deliver one gallon of petrol there. This may be around $150 billion a year. The figure varies. This is just shunted off into a separate budget. The cost of the “war on terror” since 2001 has been estimated at $6 trillion. This is greater, in real terms, allowing for changes in the value of money, than WW2 cost the US.
2. Producing and maintaining nuclear weapons. Barack “Nobel Peace Prize” Obama authorised a programme to spend another $1 trillion on new nuclear weapons. This is not classed as part of the military budget. It is paid for by the “Department of Energy.”
3. Military pensions. Service personnel can retire on a lifetime pension after 20 years. There are 21 million + veterans in the US. This is counted as part of a welfare budget.
4. Medical treatment for wounded/ disabled service personnel. 2 million plus were rotated through Iraq/ Afghanistan. Many were badly wounded. About 600,000 + are registered with disabilities. 22 a day commit suicide. This is put into a medical budget.
5. Cost of military recruiting. This is not included either.
6. Black budgets. At least $50 billion a year goes into a budget for special operations and projects that is separate from the military budget. There is virtually no oversight in this.
7. The paramilitary activities of the CIA, which maintains its own private armies and air force to wage secret wars. Not part of the military budget.
8. Mercenaries. Companies like Blackwater pay their mercenaries at least $500 a day. Their operations are outside the military budget.
Most of this money is borrowed from foreign countries, and incurs high interest payments.
There is no basic system of accounting for military expenditure. In 2001, the day before 9/11, Rumsfeld had to admit that $2.3 trillion of military spending had gone “missing” and could not be accounted for. This figure has since risen to over $9 trillion.
Remarkable. How long can this last ? Will the money always be there ?
The true rate of military spending is about 8% of GDP. Most of this is wasted or stolen. It should be stressed again that there isn’t the most basic accounting system to keep track of any of this money.
As an anti-Empire voter who supported Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party in 2008, to me it was very clear that Obama and the Democrats campaigned on the promise that they could run the empire more effectively and efficiently than the “stupid” Dubya. They did so in such a way that most of the “stupid” Democrat voters mistook this for Obama being “anti-war”.
The strange part to me is that I do now “miss” George Herbert Walker Bush (middle name comes from a Hitler supporter that his father had worked for) and people like Sec of State James Baker. I opposed them at the time, but now it seems like the last time that adults ran the country.
Thank You, Saker. I would rather read you than listen to Trump, especially if he is haranguing the U.N., so I’m grateful you kept the quotes to a minimum. I do agree that Hillary would have been worse, but that’s small comfort.
I guess we in the US deserve to be internationally humiliated by the paucity of leadership we disclose to the world. I just hope there’s a silver lining to this very black cloud we currently endure. Hang in there, everyone.
One way to end the humiliation would be if Americans recognised the problem then set about fiixing it.
In the article above. Saker says –
“However, the USA themselves are now the prime victim of a decapitated Presidency”
Does this phrase resonate strongly with you or perhaps some but not many Americans?
What I mean is – This is different right? Never mind what you think of Trump, in fact don’t think about Trump at all. Think instead of the “Office of the Presidency” which has been superceded by a grouping of semi-invisible, more powerful people.
Hence voting no longer counts at all and where does that leave people if they even think about it, which is why I am wondering if you would have a comment on it.
Do the Americans realise what a powerful and naked grab of power there has been – and how serious the new situation is?
Or not really. would you say?
Estamos en el principio del fin del imperio americano. La duda es si se llevará por delante al mundo entero con el.
The donald speaks and the whole world listens. Shame on the world for keeping this reality alive. The time has come where the whole world must lose confidence in this place called the usa. It is so obvious that it is we the people that will bring this beast to its knees. If we want to stop this rerun from continuing then we must stop using everything and anything american. The actual value of this is zero. Do not use us currency, don’t buy anything from the USA. Once the word gets around and the world loses confidence, especially in their dollar, that country will disintegrate into powder, just like the twin towers did.
I can only laugh at what a true buffoon trump actually is. The only message that came out of his distorted mouth was enough is enough from the USA.
NON CONFIDENCE IN THE USA DOLLAR WILL BRING DOWN THE USA.
I read a quote some time ago and can’t remember the name of it’s author. The quote was, “In the future the Soviet Union will become like the United States. And the United States will become like the Soviet Union.” I was looking forward to Trump taking off his shoe and pounding it on the podium, stating, “You will be speaking American!”, like Khrushchev said back in the ole’ days.
Bible prophecy of the end time talks about a mysterious figure called the Antichrist (also called the “man of sin” and the “false prophet”) before the second coming of Christ.
I’m not sure, but Trump sounds like “Antichrist”.
The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.”
Last time I checked, threatening to *totally* destroy a country is tantamount to a declaration of genocide.
The fact that very few diplomats, people around the world, or the peace-loving (snicker) American people have been outraged by Trump’s statement shows what kind of sick world we live in.
One can only have utter contempt for such display of arrogance, criminality, hubris, hypocrisy by the Trump administration. What sad little people think up these threats. Such projection is mind-boggling! Axis of evil once again?
Russia and China know the ravages of war and rightly do their utmost to avoid these bloody conflicts.
Don’t these fools in Washington realise that its the people, including their own, the most precious of commodities (if we have to stoop so low as to call human beings commodities!), that suffer the most in times of conflict?
This is beyond satire. The US has the worst leadership in its history, political and military, unbelievably arrogant, corrupt, incompetent, deluded and irredeemably ignorant. Not just Trumpenstein. Clinton would have been even worse. Think Haley as UN ambassador. Or Maxine Waters as a major political figure. The examples are legion. Most US ambassadors are the bored wives of dog food tycoons who have made a fat campaign contribution to Obongo or someone and the wife gets the post as a payoff. The whole system is rotten to the core.
Trumpenstein’s rancid, hate filled diatribe was an insult to the intelligence of a primary school pupil. I was surprised the people there didn’t just give him the finger and walk out in disgust. It was just a regurgitation of Dubya’s Axis of Evil. America is just a laughing stock, an embarrassment. I wouldn’t put these people in charge of a roll of toilet paper, even if I had two. Even if the people who hate Trumpenstein got rid of him it wouldn’t make any difference. They are just the same, or worse.
If I was Kim I’d do a lot of things nobody seems to be paying much attention to. Get the special forces to target a couple of dozen cities in America with suitcase radiological dirty bombs. Sink a chartered Panamanian merchant ship in the Panama Canal. Do a bit of biological warfare in Norfolk, Virginia so a lot of navy crews go down with some mystery illness. Fire off some older missiles straight up to where all the orbiting US military satellites are, filled full of nuts and bolts. Detonate them and take out all the satellites with debris. Chuck a bit of anthrax about. Assassinate a few people. Just for starters.
Then the main fun starts. Nuclear missiles anywhere they can be delivered. S. Korea, Japan, Guam. US mainland. Put nuclear mines near the border to be detonated in a US invasion. Missiles with chemical and explosive warheads. Destroy Seoul. Then the main conventional fighting. Go down fighting taking as many enemy with them as possible. Withdraw into the interior, fighting underground.
America slouches towards Armageddon.
Trump’s “Mein Kampf” tirade at the United Nations
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2017/09/20/pers-s20.html
There is no reasoning, let alone compromise or the establishment of common ground, with someone, like Trump and every other recent American president, who creates, believes and acts on a completely confected false narrative rather than empirical reality. The fantasy fiction that the American state imposes on the world, as lunatic as it is, is such finely-crafted, internally-consistent dogma that will never allow genuine logic, common sense or even human compassion to breech its proclaimed mandate. They put it all out there in its obscene craziness and tell you flat out that this will all come to pass whether you and every other person on the planet like it or not. They will have their Armageddon sooner or later. If you are not a privileged American insider or one of its boot-licking vassals with connections, they intend on snuffing you whether you run from them or or at them head on. Those are your only two choices. What their motives are can only be understood by them. I do not suffer their pathology so I can only speculate that they either seek to drastically cull the herd, leaving them an even larger share of earth’s bounty, or they truly believe the greatest long con in the history of the world and eagerly embrace End Time prophecies, the Rapture and that whole load of bollocks. They want their pony from Jesus. They want it now. And the devil with everyone else.
That speech requires no analysis. This utter nonsense only shows an abyssal lack of political culture. The threats are less dangerous than absolute stupidity. While this looks like a “madman” strategy, it is probably and unfortunately not done on purpose. I would be worth a good laugh if the last degree of total decay of the western “culture” wasn’t suddenly so bluntly obvious through this sad reality TV clown parading as the leader of the “benevolent” free world. The inversion is complete. The crude reality is that anything can happen in total chaos, and the US of A always have been the masters of chaos. They are now a dying beast who can’t be reasoned with. Even the Russians gave up on that. That makes them even more unpredictable and dangerous. Good luck to us all.
Russia and China have filled the vacuum; they’re basically running US foreign policy.
There is much concern about Trump’s comments on Venezuela, and the possibility for war there. I offer this perspective on it:
— Canada won’t support the creation of a Somalia or Ukraine in the Americas, regardless of diplomatic statements or actions – or of the policies of the previous Canadian government pre-Nov. 2015 (who may have supported US led intervention). Canada’s military will back the Venezuelans covertly, I’m covinced of it. So the US military will face the Canadian one in Venezuela. Let’s see if they’re prepared to do that.
Btw, the Gulf Coast refineries lobbied against sanctions on Venezuela, as in oil import restrictions, since they import oil from Venezuela (Canadian refineries do too.) It was Harold Hamm, chairman and CEO of Continental Resources and energy advisor during Trump’s campaign who pushed for this. What’s the angle on this, I wonder.
Are you kidding me? Young Trudeau will support whatever he is told to support.
Well, he pulled Canada’s Air Force out of Syria, against the wishes of the US coalition. He joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, against the wishes of the Obama administration. He changed Canada’s military participation in Ukraine when be took office, including not sharing electronic info with the Ukrainian military anymore, against the wishes of the US State Department. And he’s rejected, at least partly, austerity neoliberal doctrine, against the wishes of Wall Street. Actually, he might have some opposition from the neocons.
While it requires reading hieroglyphics to deduce this, it looks like the Canadian comprador elites (whoever that includes specifically) enthusiastically, wholeheartedly supported the neocon policies in Ukraine. And received the royal shaft in return. So here we are.
Is it just possible, bearing in mind the massive (apparent?) about face that Trump has engaged in under pressure from the US Deep State, that he has decided to promote their policies in such an extreme and preposterous way so as to destroy the credibility of both the US image and the neocons & anglo-zionists in the eyes of the world?
Trump has shown us what the neocons want – annihilation of millions in Korea, north or south, doesn’t matter they’re all sub-human after all! plus all the other garbage that spilled forth from his mouth. The reactions of Kelly and his wife indicate that he surprised them with what he said and the way he said it – statements that will have the US allies re-thinking their policies and allegiances perhaps. This was already happening, Trump just gave it a great deal more impetus.
Here’s hoping.
While I agree with the fact that this is a possibility, the reality is that the american empire and the western post modern civilization are about to implode altogether. Trump, whatever he’s doing, is clearly a destabilizing element in this irrevocable process. The final question will be about the size of the bang.
I had that thought too; that he (maybe) is exposing his handlers by taking their mandates to the extreme. Perhaps by doing so he can get a public outcry against them, I hope so.
He has a dominant nature, has been very successful and to be told to reverse on his promises must rankle him. To put a personality like his in a box would take some strong threats. And as his manner and facial expression appear to me to have changed markedly in the past few weeks, I think those threats have been made.
I watched him speak when he was running for office and I believe he meant what he said, he really saw himself as the next Roosevelt, right now based on his speeches, he is the next Caligula, that is not Trump.
Dear Saker, UK Column is aother site I go to regularly. It is a thoughtful, intelligent site.
Today they spoke openly about the UN Assembly and the double talk involved as they move toward their long planned New World Order. Unfortunately, Russia and China appeared to be playing their part in the bringing about of this new order.
I would so very much appreciate it if you could take the tine to listen to this particular show and give us your opinion on it. There were so many points noted that I cannot list them in a coherent fashion.
Here is the link, and I will await your response, even as I ask for so much of your time.

Thank you for what you are able to do.

Grateful to the Saker for having the stomach to listen to the speech. Even the snippets presented by RT were sufficient for indigestion.
Speaking as a vegetarian, there is a correspondence between Donald and a McDonald. if customers could see or know what goes into a “bigMac” consumption would plummet. But consumers prefer not to know and not to see, even if it has been amply documented.
Equally, citizens at large prefer to ignore who is behind the drivel delivered by the Donald in his speech, and, more importantly, the philosophy that inspires this moment of US history. Or rather, they prefer not to know that ‘neocon’ is a euphemism for the unmentionables who effectively run the country and whose influence is proportional to their arrogance and to their opulence.
The UN is a sh*t show – why would any self respecting country participate in this theatre of the absurd?
