The city of Lugansk in the easternmost part of the ex-Ukraine has been attacked by Ukrainian combat aircraft. See for yourself:
The aircraft in question is a Sukhoi-25, a close air support aircraft which might well become the major threat for the NDF in the next few days or weeks.
The Su-25 is very hard to shoot down. It’s cabin is armored and its widely separated engines are both equipped with highly survivable ans redundant systems.
Unlike the Ukrainian artillery the Su-25 can be used for very precise strikes but unlike the Ukrainian attack helicopters the Su-25 is extremely maneuverable and comparatively fast.
The Su-25 can fire guided and unguided missiles and bombs, it has a powerful dual 30mm gun and all sorts of pods, guidance systems and radars can be attacked to it. In other words, and just like the formidable US A-10, the Su-25 is an ugly but extremely effective close air support aircraft and if the Ukrainians can find enough of these in semi-decent condition and if they can find enough pilots willing to fly them, then this could be very bad news for the NDF who would have to put a lot of effort into defending their airspace from these extremely capable attackers.

Igla-S can shoot them down no problem. Even damaging such a plane will force the pilot to flee. These are not modernized Su-25, not at all like the kind that the Russian government is buying now. They can’t strike from high altitudes, either.
What the militias need are Iglas.

Saw the “hey it was an rpg false flag!” video and I think its pure BS and conjecture.
Why?
2 things stand out.
1) Too much damage/several dust plumes in the area at the building indicating several hits. I dont see how you get that with an RPG or MANPAD.
2) The explosive flash in the middle of the trees looks like a HE rocket exploding. It looks a bit weird because there is a tree cutting the view in 2 parts. But considering the scale, that is NOT a launced RPG or MANPAD. Way too much/large explosion. I think it was one of the rockets that hit the ground slightly before the intended target (the building).

The strike is reported to have killed 5, all civilians – not a particularly devastating military strike but shows the willingness to use such weapons. Wondering who the pilot was… Ukrainian? Kiev is denying involvement.
And if Russia allows this in Lugansk, it deserves to have such planes flying in Russia and doing the same. This is unacceptable.
The idea with a failed MANPAD launch is beyond retarded. The whole “air conditioner” theory is just plain impossible. You’d have to know nothing whatsoever about the topic to even consider it. And anyway, there are literally tons of videos from different angles which show pretty much every moment of the attack. It was not a cluster bomb but unguided air-to-surface missiles. I noticed that the Junta are blaming the anti-kiev’s for this – mis firing a manpad or something similar – but the video clearly shows the facts. Usual rubbish propoganda.

Another topic: older Su-25 are not formidable enough to withstand Igla, not even the normal kind. The Donetsk militias appear to have them but Lugansk sent some of their men to Donetsk in fear of an attack there. Maybe they also send their MANPADs there. A MSM article said that Lugansk is getting reinforcements from somewhere, 100 men and before that I read a good source who said that 100 more yesterday.

Thank you “Scan”, thats a war crime. Those were unguided munitions being fired in a spread pattern, leading to indiscriminant casaulties on the ground. This cant be justified in an urban center; the pilot either screwed up or was given an illegal order or both.

Thanks to MythFighter for providing some credibility for my hypothesis. The pilot is either a very poor marksman or very good. But only one plane, not “jets” as described by most media I’ve read? And why not a return strike? I’m happy the casualties were few, but I find the Ukie combat behavior very strange, almost nonsensical, as it appears to be aimless.
There is no reason for Russia to intervene officially.
The Ukies have men and weapons. The Novorussians must also find men, and Russia can supply them weapons. If the Novorussians cannot defend themselves against untrained Ukie soldiers, one has to question their desire for freedom.
If Russia steps in now and forces back the Ukies, the Ukies would win. For all subsequent problems, they would blame Russia. The West Ukrainians would then build a strong victimhood narrative for the next few centuries! It would be a new Poland, but even more radicalized than Poland.
Just because the Novorussians identify with Russia, Russia does not become obligated to support them. What if Russia absorbs Novorussia, and the West Ukraine attacks it? Will the Novorussians still not remain in their houses? Afterall, it is not their fight — it is Russia’s business!
And in all this, let us not forget the spiritual and diplomatic support being provided to Novorussia by Russia. Next count weapons, and Russian men who are coming to fight. Next that their opponents are ill-prepared, in low morale, and actually, in disarray. Which oppressed people had so many things going for them? By now they have had enough time to mobilize (I think).

The huge (but unsuccessful) protest movement of the late 1960s only happened because TV, radio and newspapers in those days were still reporting the facts more or less accurately. Especially the images and films of US atrocities in Vietnam drove millions into the anti-war movement. Today none of this happens because western media either remains completely silent or, if it suits them, buries the facts under mountains of lies, fabrications and distortions. Kiev has admitted showering the eastern Ukrainian city of Lugansk with dozens of missiles from the air, saying that its Air Force helicopters and jets “fired more than 150 missiles” in Monday’s military action.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) also confirmed on Tuesday that the deadly explosion at the city’s administrative building was indeed an airstrike. Kiev has so far denied the responsibility for the incident, saying its forces “do not target” civilian areas.
The OSCE Ukrainian mission’s daily report stated that “on June 2, around 15:00 local time missiles hit the building of the regional government administration. According to the observers’ data, the strike was carried out with non-guided missiles launched from an aircraft.”
According to an earlier statement by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the intense bombing in Lugansk area was meant to “support the Ukrainian Border Guards,” which the local militia have been trying to take under control.
“All in all, for fulfilling the combat support of the Ukrainian border guards the army aviators fired more than 150 missiles, carried out three jet sorties and five helicopter sorties,” the statement says.

Earlier today, we read reports out of Russian Itar-Tass stating that east Ukraine militia had shot down a Ukraine gunship and a Su-25 fighter jet, as well as four APC. We were waiting for an official confirmation from Ukraine as the level of propaganda on both sides is somewhat tricky to filter. We got at least partial proof moments ago from Ukraine’s military spokesman Seleznyov, who said via Bloomberg:

People’s militia in the city of Sloviansk, east Ukraine’s Donetsk Region, have downed a fighter plane Su-25 and a Ukrainian helicopter gunship as well as four armored personnel carriers (APC), Sloviansk People’s Mayor Vyacheslav Ponomarev told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday.
It is unclear if the downed Ukrainian Su-25 is the same one as the one caught on tape launching bombs at Ukraine civilians in the town of Lugansk.
My girlfriend found a post on the net this morning (she is from Lugansk) and living with me at the moment ) about separatist fighters in Slavyansk finding a mass grave with 180 persons buried, and later, another with 300 deceased buried.
(now the macabre bit)
The net post said that bodily organs were removed from all the cadavers (livers, kidneys, hearts)
I did not know if this was true or propaganda, so I did some research this morning.

The Lugansk bombing may be an actual war crime. Deliberately targeting non combatants is what did for Milosevic. It is incomprehensible why they did it. Even if the Lugansk seperatist high command was in the building, the SU 25 didn’t have the capacity to take it out.
Of course, the seperatists are hiding behind a civilian shield but this building was far from the scene of operations.
The seperatists are a bunch of romantic, racist fools who now have much blood on their hands. They never had much of a position. Donetsk and the surrounding towns are only half Great Russian. Lugansk and nearby towns are much more Great Russian but still include many Ukrainians. It’s Russia’s Belfast, a colony of the imperial power with a mixed population. The Ukranian government declared North Lugansk South Donetsk and the West of both swept clear of rebels some days ago. Of course. There weren’t any there. These areas are largely Ukranian. There are Great Russians in Maripoul but not a majority.
The Great Russians have contempt for the Ukranians. They consider that Ukranians speak some kind of Creole and have made no cultural contributions to the world. They use stereotypes about yokels concerned with fertility and monetary calculation. The retired officers who started this and the grannies hold these views more strongly than the young people. Joining Russia is the only way they can hope to improve their pensions. This was not a necessary insurrection. A long period of Troubles is not going to help anyone. The sooner these idiots head for political asylum in Russia the sooner a discussion about getting out of the mess can start. Poroshenko is more of the same, not the answer.
