It seems that the Russian government tries very hard to send the humanitarian convoy (which is at least one month late) through the hands of the Nazi regime in Kiev instead of using border crossing points controlled by Novorossiya.
In this way, Moscow is asking for yet another humiliation and placing its humanitarian assistance to the people in Donbass at the mercy of the nazi regime or making it subject to its enemy’s consent is irresponsible, morally self-defeating, and politically regressive.
Putin and his government should have created by now a steady flow of humanitarian assistance and not just sending a one-time convoy into the hands of the Kiev authorities where it can get lost or stuck or just seized.
In its dealing with with the crisis in Ukraine and Donbass, Putin and his government has been in violation of few basic political and moral principles, which are not only moral principles, they are themselves a reflection of certain fundamental and strategic considerations. One of these principles, of which Russian politics has been in violation in Ukraine and Donbass, has been respect for self-respect. This loss or violation of self-respect was most painfully evident in the fruitless and counterproductive dragging of the “gas negotiations” with the Kiev junta and the last minute backpedaling by Putin himself on the question of the referenda in Donbass and support for the national liberation struggle against Nazism by the people in Donbass.
The neglect of this principle has been only barely covered with its anxious efforts to avoid taking clear and firm political positions. About a month ago, Putin criticized what he called “disdain” for state authorities, which he seemed to have applied both to his authority and to the authorities in Kiev. Ideally,respect is a tribute freely paid to real achievement, and achievement itself to be admired ought to be something good brought about by turning one’s power’s potentiality into reality. By definition, power qua potential that is not used, and used for the good, is lost and wasted.

This is what happened to my dad after WW2 when Silesia became polish. Throughout his school life – in all of his school reports – he was named by his second name, since this could be transferred into the polish language. His first one was too German. Lesson learnt: When he was finally able to leave Poland in 1958 and when it was time to name his children, he opted for rather international names which could be transferred easily into other languages.
I had heard about this incident but seeing this for real is almost beyond belief.

I started reading Guardian comments during the initial Snowden period – was attracted by the wit and persistent anti-American viewpoint. Then, started to follow the Maidan on The Guardian. After several months of reading the comments and everything I could find online, and remembering a little basic history – then I realized how much the narrative was a flat out lie. By the time Crimea went down, I pretty much had the picture. But not fully. It was only through reading the comments that I first started to understand the resistance. I learned more through the comments by far than than the articles. By May 2, when Obama and Merkel gave a joint press conference in DC and the Odessa massacre took place, my anger peaked. For about 2 days I was physically sick. By now, though, my anger has turned cold and hard.
Let it not be forgotten that Obama and Merkel gave a joint press conference as the Odessa massacre went down, their mutual public endorsement and embrace of fascism. That will be their legacy, that of the Nazi party.
A lot of comments on CNN and NYTimes are basically rote Obama neoliberals repeating lines, they have no reality, white people drinking lattes.

Anyway to complete my thought on NAFTAstan — Nora I don’t think lots of non-white voters is really a problem for the globalists. In fact I think they count on being able to pit whites against non-whites as whites become the absolute minority in many states outside the intermountain West, the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, and Appalachia. What I fear is not what these young males coming in to the US now as unaccompanied minors will do in the immediate future, but that some Chavez-style Caesar or demagogue will try to recruit them into ‘FEMA Corps’ or into militarized, corrupt police forces like their dads or grand dads back in El Salvador and Mexico. I worry that someone will whisper in these young men’s ears when they can’t find a job in a globalist-wrecked economy, “This is all the gringo’s fault. Come join FEMA or NAFTA Corps and get some payback against the gringo”.
I haven’t watched much Univision and I know it has some very good Miami-based reporters who’ve done good work on Fast and Furious (the illegal Eric Holder DOJ directed BATF operation that resulted in hundreds of Mexican deaths and killed two US Border Patrol agents). But overall I would say in Mexico the level of political awareness and involvement seems low, outside the regions where the people have had it with both the narcos and the cops and taken up arms on their own (and those Mexicans are demonstrating more balls than Americans including many ‘patriot movement’ keyboard warriors).
What I mean is that even if awareness is growing in Mexico about how NAFTA and even pre-NAFTA agricultural dumping by the US drove Mexican corn farmers off lands they’d farmed for centuries and pushed them into the Mexican cities and the great migracion a al Norte (what Ross Perot Sr. warned about with the ‘giant sucking sound’ of jobs leaving the US), the Mexicans in the US itself still seem very apathetic and do not vote anywhere close to their actual numbers. And I’m referring primarily to people of Mexican descent with American passports who are eligible to vote, not the undocumented who are bussed around periodically by Democrat operators in South Texas or other places.
If Mexicans were both aware and recognized their power, a broad anti-war and anti-war on drugs libertarian awakening across this country would be possible. Yes, even I could hold my nose about some La Raza rhetoric as long as we could make common cause on the failed and designed to fail (but imprison millions) war on drugs, stopping the wars and empire building abroad, etc. Seriously what Mexican American soldier wants to die for Ukraine? And how many countries has Brazil or Bolivia invaded since the 19th century?
As it is, the best we can do for now is try to decriminalize or legalize marijuana in some places in defiance of the feds who drive drug profits into the TBTF banks, especially HSBC and Wells Fargo who got slaps on the wrist for massive narco money laundering into the tens of billions of dollars. After all, while I don’t like that some Mexicans may be lefty and anti-2nd Amendment or insist ‘the border crossed us’ when in reality the border has kept them and their parents somewhat free from the clutches of the Mexican oligarchs…I’ve yet to meet a Mexican or Mexican American, or any Hispanic veteran, who’s an enthusiastic proponent of mass surveillance, police militarization, endless foreign wars, or torture. S0… it is profoundly ironic to me that the current situation in which the US tacitly supports the emergence of a ISIS/Sunni entity in the middle of Iraq gets little or no attention from the hundreds of commentators on the events in Ukraine.
Somehow Ukrainian events are easily understood as an attempt by the Empire to gain control over Russia where events in the Middle East are opaque and largely ignored.
Yet it is easily argued that this emerging ISIS entity is a far greater threat to not just Russia, but also China and Iran – while it gives the US
strategic control over oil and gas routes to Europe (ensuring US domination of that arena).
Perhaps the threat of Nato missiles is more comprehensible than economic domination. Still – when ISIS kills more people in one day that are killed in Ukraine in a month – there is hardly concern voiced in the comments.
So how is it, that while rejecting the policy of empire domination of the world, commentators here seem to have adopted Empire values that prioritize European lives over all others.

Yes a Latino conservatism is possible, but only I think for the most part when Hispanics think of themselves as ‘white’ — which many do, judging by a significant percentage of the Census surveys (which include the category ‘non Hispanic white’ many people of Spanish origin have no problem checking). And only when they’re in a conservative leaning environment like Texas or Arizona with a strong evangelical culture, which Central America has developed in the past forty years along with the charismatics since many Hispanics are leaving the Catholic church of their fathers.

If I may suggest your own naivety appears to be underpinned by over-consumption of ideological aspects including framing of the “land of the free”.
In professional and strategic matters as suggested before but not appearing on the blog, this appears to be compounded by a mix of over-emotionalism, too fast reactive behaviour and over extrapolation on limited data.
However naivety is useful even if not self-perceived.

Some hold that criticising your opponents is a form of masturbation.
They counsel that it is better to make use of your opponents’ weaknesses, hopefully, not being perceived as doing so,
