A number of things come to mind.
Saint Yulia is a Russian speaking Georgian (go figure) who worked hard to Ukranianize herself and got along quite well with Putin before losing out to competing crimminal oligarchs who then carved up her gas pipeline empire and threw her in jail. She may very well be the candidate of “the people,” cleansed by her punishment whereas the protesters, who come from various competing political factions, have now been usurped by well organized and well armed Neo Fascists controlled by NATO/Neocons and backed by the Zibignew Breszinski White House. I believe that her life may be in extreme danger, especially if she looks poised to retake power and unify the country (Yulia Ferdinand maybe?).
The fascists need chaos and will look to play up ethnic tensions but it is possible that social class will be a far more important determinant of what finally emerges. There are only 7 or 8 million ethnic Russians out of a total population of roughly 46 million Ukrainians. Meanwhile 40+ million average Ukrainians are already extremely pissed at their Mafioso 1 percenters. Russia much prefers to orient itself towards Europe rather than China despite what you may read in the Khazar media. By reacting so calmly Putin seems to be undercutting his most virulent and committed enemies while further enhancing his international standing. Even when it looks like Putin is losing he’s actually still winning.
Also, Putin may be just as glad to be rid of the utterly corrupt and unreliable Yanukovich as are many Ukranians. Although the staus quo may have been preferable for Russia in the short term it is apparent that Europe is split between those who favour aggressive moves to isolate Russia (i.e. Poles, Brits, French) and others who prefer to use Russia as a counterweight to the influence of E.U. fascists, russophobes, neocon bitches like V. Nuland, etc. Remember Europe gets 30% of their nat gas from Russia and their dependence continues to increase. Putin’s strategy is to slowly pry the E.U. away from its Atlanticist orientation and move it towards closer economic ties with Russia. Considering his popularity in Europe, especially amongst social conservatives, anti-zionists, the bankster hating middle class, “true” Leftists and others he may be calculating that the situation in Ukraine is actually benifitting Russia over the longer term. A sudden explosion of anti E.U. sentiment is hardly unthinkable in countries like Italy or France.
With China now selling 50 billion dollars worth of US bonds per month (starting in December) perhaps the aggressive foreign policy orientation of Neocon CFR/RIIA folks has finally put the final fatal nail into the coffin of U.S. dollar hegemony. A Euro backed by Russian resources would be a formidable alternative currency and look especially appealing in the wake of a U.S. dollar and subsequent global economic collapse.
WW3 already appears to be very much underway and no foreign policy maker anywhere can continue to ignore the multiple recent aggressive moves of the Rothchild gang in Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine plus the recent terrorist bombing in Western China. This is overreach and it looks as likely to backfire as not.
Paying close attention to the English speaking media and Anglo American political elites in general it appears that some of these folks are beginning to panic. Multiple repressive measures are escalating in the U.S., U.K, Canada, Australia and so on while completely out of touch 1 percenters are openly comparing themselves to Jews before the holocaust.
100 years after WWI these be interesting times.

Where I live, authority as already begun broad day light TSA style searches on commuting citizens. People are spread against the wall after exiting buses for all bystanders to see in downtown, no threat of any kind was on the news, no public protest spontaneous or not ongoing, no criminal act under suspicion whatsoever. Eyewitness account:
“All these years of Lisbon nightlife, I attended an impressive scene: Corpo de Intervenção (CI – Riot Police) closed the perimeter between Arco da Rua Augusta and Rua da Prata. I was returning home with Gonçalo Pina [http://www.facebook.com/gonpina] and three types of CI ask ed us to cross the street. The apparatus was impressive: four CI vans, three cars of PSP (Police), dozen of agents under the arches, in three formation lines, fully armed. Quite intimidating.
Something was happening or about to happen there. We waited to find out. Meanwhile, the first line crosses the street and stops buses that left Cais do Sodré on its way to Oriente – Odivelas. The CI stops three buses and sent out a number of passengers, aligned them under the arches and search them.
Everybody was quiet while against the wall, these of which, German and Brazilian tourists, the first to come out, where confused and frightened. I had never seen such akind of police search. When we returned home in a taxi, the driver said the CI started doing this kind of operations since two weeks before. Such display of force and intimidation are not usual in Portugal. Hopefuly this is not an omen of other more serious things that may lie dormant, or about to emerge in our country, and I say this with utmost sincerity.
I harshly criticize Cavaco [the current President] and the Government – but these situations are something else.”

What i can see here is fascism rearing it’s ugly head after being fed by totaly irresponsible media baked “leaders”, this when they’re not the fascists themselves.
I’m bringing this anecdote up, because we used to pride ourselves in disallowing police abuses of authority such as requesting any sort of ID under no plausible cause for suspicion to do so. We used to trust police with it’s constitutional mission. Portuguese law regulates under which conditions authorities may identify cititizens via Código de Processo Penal article 250, namely: founded suspicion of criminal activity, pendent extradiction process or expulsion, illegaly crossing of border, or detention order.
Police here is being turned into PIDE (state police during Salazar dictatorship), the fascist state is being brought from its ashes, lawlessness is being inaugurated with the encouragement of none other than EU itself. Surprising to some, not so much to others.
The thing is: that video showing police being harassed in the way it is, with the fear all over their faces, only possible during this lawlessness period of power struggle is, in the most absurd way, the exact same thing we can observe here but in reversed roles.
@Saker Reading that rant of yours the other day… it is indeed the most fragile civilizational values at stake here, Fascism is back, it never exacly went away, civilized people will have no other choice than to put up the real fight or be mangled under its boot.

As far as I can tell, Israel’s bandera nazis have yet to assault their supposedly #1 hated enemy – Jews. All violence I have seen reported about so far by these buggered tools has been directed at Russians and “commies”. In fact, the bandera nazis are behaving remarkably like another of the zionist west’s extremist tools, “al qaida”. “Al qaida’s #1 enemy is supposedly Israel, yet they expend 99.99% of their violence on other Muslims, especially other Muslims in countries the zionists want to destroy.
