Okay, I am getting flooded with email of tweets and FB reports and articles about missiles strikes in Syria.  My first reaction

EVERYBODY WAIT! DO NOT JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS!

We have no facts.  Some reports say that the USA attacked, other that it was Israel or even France.  The truth is that we won’t know for sure for at least 24 hours.  Whoever attacked will present that as a huge success.  Don’t believe it!  The last time around it took several days to find out what really happened.

Also, at least so far, I hear about “5 cruise missiles”.  If that is the truth, then this is a totally symbolic act, which is good.  There might be much much more before dawn, but we have to wait and see.  If the French or Israelis did it, that is also good news (more symbolic nonsense which both of these countries love to engage in).

[Sidebar: if the Americans go for a the real thing, we will see *hundreds* of missiles just in the first wave, so all this 5 (or 8) missiles stuff is very very good news indeed (at least compared to what it could be!]

I just got a report from Scott about the Russian social media exploding with all sorts of non-verified and freely interpreted info.  This is bound to be reflected in the western social media really soon too.  Read it, but don’t jump to conclusions!

Okay, I am going to get some much needed sleep now.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS AN OPEN THREAD TO POST WHATEVER YOU HEAR (including rumors).  For obvious reasons, moderation must still be applied and there might be  a gap before your posts appear.  Nothing I can do about that.

Tomorrow I will have to spend the day driving (nothing I can do about that either).  But if something big takes place overnight I will try to make sense of it tomorrow morning or, better, tomorrow evening.  But, remember, waiting in this situation is good, jumping to conclusions based on rumors is bad.

Hugs to all,

The Saker
