“ibya’s Gen. Khalifa Haftar, who leads forces loyal to the Tobruk-based Council of Deputies, has requested Russia to end its arms embargo on Libya and begin supplying weapons and military equipment to eastern Libyan forces, a Russian diplomatic source said Wednesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Haftar has addressed the request to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu via his special representative Abdel Basset Badri, who also serves as Libya’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Badri visited Moscow on Tuesday, meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian Izvestia newspaper reported, citing a diplomatic source familiar with the situation.
“The meeting really did take place. Badri came to Moscow for one day. During talks with Bogdanov, they discussed the issue of lifting the embargo on arms supplies. Libyans are asking us to send them small arms, but also equipment, including planes. Also, they asked Moscow to start an anti-Islamist military operation in Libya that is similar to the one in Syria,” the source told the newspaper.
Haftar visited Russia in late June, discussing a number of issues, including weapons deliveries, with Shoigu and Russia’s Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.”

Good overview of Libyan sit by Dan Glazebrook (an excellent journo we really should hear more from – would love to see him above the line at the Vineyard):
However, Lawrence “of Arabia” actually organized armed gunmen into a more or less coherent force, and used it to pry away the strategic Middle Eastern territory from the ageing Ottoman Empire. This “Arab” puppet army later proved to be no match against the new kid in the block (the Americans) and its tiny protégé (Israel).
Tiny Israel became instantly stronger than Lawrence’s armed gunman, and later survived the onslaught by the Soviet protégés. Pushed out by both the allies of Americans and the Soviets, Britain quickly became irrelevant, in the Middle East. Israel, it must be said, is a real nation with its own set of goals. It is a ally of the US, and not a puppet. That is one of the reasons why it has been so valuable.
I believe the war in Syria to be as ill conceived as Lawrence’s efforts in creating a belt of Arab puppets of the British Empire. The reality that should have never been eluded is that the United States dominance is grossly overextended. Maybe others, with available resources and/or manpower may, in the future, benefit from this later episode of “creative destruction”.
As irrelevant as Britain may have become, they were able to place the ownership of the region’s oil into the hands of feudal monarchies, and not the hands of the people. The democracies of the West had learned that it was much easier to control monarchies than democracies.
In 1948 Israel was created and immediately became the well defined object of hatred of the arab masses, diverting any revolutionary forces away from the absolute dictatorships of their rulers onto the Jewish usurpers.
By 1967, even more so than the obsequious American politicians looking for votes and MONEY, Israel was the darling of the Pentagon, whose role in the Kennedy assassination was covered up by the Warren Commission, when they not only protected Israel from being charged with an aggressive attack on the USS Liberty, but may have suggested it to blame on Egypt.
Hubbert predicted global ‘peak oil’ arriving around 2000. Thanks to ‘shale oil’ and a severe recession disguised as a recovery, it briefly appeared in 2006 and quickly departed. If Hubbert was only 50 or 60 years off, we will see crude production tail off in 35 or 40 years.
And the Pentagon, who was the most frightened in 1973 when Hubbert’s first prediction arrived, has been working tirelessly since then to ensure an unlimited supply of other nation’s oil.
What prompted the invasion/revolutions of Iraq and Libya? The Pentagon has not sequestered any of that oil. Foreign drillers made bids and drilled or will drill wells.
But production will be increased to help delay the the second onset of global ‘peak oil’.
And speaking of delaying the onset of global ‘peak oil’, what are your thoughts about the subprime mortgage bubble that brought the world’s economy to the brink. The large Western banks have been devastated. The central banks seem unsuccessful in their ability to help them by printing worthless fiat, which finds it way into the pockets of the billionaires and not the large middle class, the major consumers.
Could that bubble be Greenspan’s assignment from from the Pentagon? I think so but you’re entitled to your own opinion.
Shortly after Greenspan, Congress and Clinton decided to repeal Glass-Steagall act, The second Bush, who lost the popular vote, decided he had mandate enough to withdraw the US from the ABM treaty, which had created MAD and worked for 30 years. That was the beginning of the 21st century belligerence
by the US against Russia. It was the neocon strategy to put antiballistic missiles as close to Russia’s borders as possible so that after the West’s first nuclear strike, what little nuclear response the Russian’s had left would be rendered useless by ABMs in Eastern Europe and on ships at sea.
This Wolfowitz/Bush/Pentagon scheme fell apart in the second decade of the new century when the Pentagon saw and heard about the new missiles the Russians had developed. A devastating nuclear first strike against Russia no doubt would be followed by a devastating retaliation against the US. The billionaires had told Wolfowitz and our Community Organizer that the US Military could do anything to Russia as long as their nuclear bombs did not fall on the homeland.
So Wolfowitz changed from the a first nuclear strike with no Russian response to the economic strangulation of Russia by America, the EU, NATO etc. But as usual Wolfowitz left something out of his equation: China. He believed his own misconception that Russia and China were not close allies. China at that time had around $3 trillion in US bonds.
The US, as you know, is entitled to review all court cases in every country (one of many ‘droits du seigneur’ it had bestowed on itself). So in 2012 Congress passed and our constitutional scholar signed the “Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012”. Thus the sanctions begin in earnest.
We have moved on since then. In 2014 the coup in Kiev produced the self determination in Crimea. But the rest of the world, thralls under the sway of the business and money of the US, fell into lock step.
Just as it did today about fighting the civil war in Syria. The whole world did not utter a peep about a cease fire when the American proxies were winning the fight until Russia joined the fight and when they did call for a cease fire the opposition insisted that Assad had to quit before they would talk. He didn’t quit; the opposition didn’t talk. No one insisted that the winning opposition give up the fight. No one screamed about the casualties the way they are screaming today.
We are inching toward the abyss. The Pentagon still wants to control the production of crude oil in 15 years. A nuclear “False Flag” looms before us. Where will it be? London? Paris? Berlin? Who knows what evil lurks in the mind of Paul Wolfowitz?
But we do know that a nuclear false flag is almost always followed by a nuclear war.
I have no way of proving this but I think the force motivating the neocons here is the possession of oil. We have very little here in North America while Russia has untold amounts in Siberia.
Dr Judy Wood’s book ‘Where Did The Towers Go?’ provides irrefutable evidence that ‘free energy’ was directed at the WTC buildings. All seven buildings with a WTC prefix were destroyed on 9/11.
The whole world watched as two 500 million ton blocks of steel and concrete were turned to dust, taken apart at a molecular level, to drifted away on the morning air. No seismic signal, no debris pile commensurate with the ‘collapse’ of two 110 storey buildings. A demonstration of the weaponisation of free energy technology.
The oil wars may be for real but they are still a sham.

The solution is getting rid of the political backing of the US and its puppet states, plus use the military to destroy the takfiri proxy armies. Geo-political solution, plus local military solution. Russia is working on both these aspects. At the moment US neutralised geo-politically, but no doubt they will have more dirty tricks up their sleeve. Will have to see if takfiris acquire SAM systems that can take down aircraft out of range of manpads.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to Kirby, Kerry voiced “grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Syria” and said Washington considers Moscow responsible for the situation.
“[Kerry] informed the Foreign Minister that the United States is making preparations to suspend US-Russia bilateral engagement on Syria — including on the establishment of the Joint Implementation Center — unless Russia takes immediate steps to end the assault on Aleppo and restore the cessation of hostilities,” the release stated. Kerry also accused Russia of the use of incendiary and bunker-buster bombs in urban areas in Aleppo. He also blamed Moscow and Damascus for attacks on civilian infrastructure in Aleppo.
hopefully finally bang goes Lavrov Kerry relationship..to use a very strange mixed metaphor ….and Syria can be finally saved by SAA and Russia. No reference to rebels cutting of water supplies to Aleppo then…………….yup, a truly parallel Kerry world.
What kind of goal are the United States and Israel trying to achieve in Syria, given the fact that these nations won’t be able to take credit for the takfiri effort? Will the Americans be happy in just surrendering the old nemesis of ancient Judeia to chaos and terrorism?
The fact is that West Syria — the mainland of the ancient Phoenicians, later to become the Easternmost stronghold of the Romans — is a highly strategic territory, as strategic as Israel-Palestine is. We saw that, long after Sadat and Saddam Hussein turned pro-American, Syria alone could remain as the anti-Israel of the Middle East.
History tells us that Syria can’t (and won’t) stay in chaos for long.
“In October Duterte will pay working visits to Beijing and Moscow where he will be meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
“I will open up the Philippines for [Russia and China] to do business and will create alliances of trade and commerce. I will open telecommunications and airlines [to foreign companies],” he said.
This came as very alarming news for the US which maintains a big military presence in the Philippines.
The island state is a key element of Washington’s Asian sector of missile defense stretching from Japan to Australia and the possible loss of its military bases there would seriously undermine the United States’ positions in the region.
When he won a landslide victory in May’s general election, Rodrigo Duterte vowed to crack down on criminals in an unprecedented blitz to rid the country of illegal drugs in six months.
The move has dealt a serious blow to the local drug barons and their corrupt helpers in state and police apparatuses raised the threat of a military coup to topple Duterte.
In an interview with Sputnik Russian security expert Yevgeny Mikhailov said that the Philippine president’s independent policy made him a prime target for the West, above all the United States, which wants to dominate the whole world.
“Countries plunged in anarchy and crime are easier to control. Controlled chaos is Washington’s pet tactic, so I won’t be surprised if the Americans are now trying to destabilize the Philippines and topple Duterte in order to better dominate in the Pacific region,” Mikhailov emphasized.”
Duterte has made enemies of both sides of the zpc/nwo oligarchy. Unlike Syria, american oligarchs consider the Philippines to be american turf, like Latin America. The zpc will be especially interested, as well, due to his assault on their Jewish mafia drug business subsidiary there. They will come after him as a unified force.
“Everybody knows that [Americans] are using [their] allies,” he said. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), according to the German journalist, “was coordinating the weapons’ delivery from Turkey.” The arms brought to the border with Syria were distributed among rebels, including so-called moderate groups.
“But I have said for years, because I knew it and everybody knows it in Syria” that one kilometer away from the border “these weapons were taken by terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and [Daesh],” he said. “This is well-known.”
In other words, even if weapons were initially transferred to moderate groups, they ended up in the hands of the terrorists soon after.
Todenhöfer further noted that some terrorists received weapons by simply saying that they were members of a moderate group or the US-backed Free Syrian Army. “They even changed the name of their group to get the weapons. This is a game everybody knows,” he said.
“It’s very clear that the Americans know that their weapons will in the end be in the hands of terrorists,” Todenhöfer concluded. “They know that. They know that clearly.”
he is correct in his analysis, we all talk of the failure of Obama leadership, equally we must say it is a failure of Lavrov and directly Putin leadership too. there is no more political solution until Aleppo and Mosul are free. Currently Barzani is in Baghdad negotiating independence which will be rejected. It is war that will solve the issues once and for all.
Qatar being the most liquid of the three should be the focus of intense international scrutiny. It is insane -unless you declare that money talks is now the only political system of choice- that such a small country weights so much on the world’s affairs.
Small but wealthy countries (Luxembourg, Singapore, Switzerland…) did not engage into “regime changes”. It speaks volume that super powers aka as US have let this happen. To the credit of The President Obama, he got rid of HBJ and the previous Emir on a simple phone call but, since, no real actions have been taken to bring this madness to an halt.
What is the standing of the permanent members of the security council when the other nations see that some these members can be bribed and hired?
This is as dangerous as condoning torture, as losing any moral high ground is an open invitation for bad state and non-state actors to challenge order and decency anywhere.
And if neocons need their pint of regime changes, they might look no further than taking care of these tiny irresponsible uber wealthy actors. There is a fringe benefit in taking out of the picture these state actors: You get to keep their wealth
Syrian terrorists have been supplied with a new type of surface-to-surface Grad rocket by their foreign backers to help defend against the current offensive, a rebel commander told the Reuters news agency.
The rockets, supplied “in excellent quantities”, will be used in Aleppo, Hama and the Mediterranean coastal region, Fares al-Baoush said.
It was not clear which foreign states supplied the rockets.
Whichever countries it is need punishment for that. Sending a few missiles “to the source” would change their minds on sponsoring terrorism quite quickly. It does no good to “talk” endlessly about stopping the supply of weapons to the terrorists, unless you really “do” stop those supplies.
I am afraid that the situation is about to get worse as it is awfully clear that the M-E backers of the US in this war (state actors) are pushing very hard to get the job they bribed/paid done before the USA election. A Trump administration would either end this madness or -it’s called business- ask “yuuuge” sums of money in return.
Hints of trying to wrap up something or to building a wall of excuses for the failure to deliver Syria (Even if the Mecca sickos have already paid for it!) hidden in plain sight:
– Discussion about allies having to pay their fair share by DJT are not reassuring for the M-E backers. Did DJT just told them that the new “Don” wants them to pay more? He might extend them favorable credit conditions by seizing the oil, though.
– Hastily concocted JASTA legislation to stop the financial hemorrhage that M-E backers could unleash. Except some serious money to be impounded or seized. Note: The President Obama just created plausible deniability by vetoing the bill.
– Threatening Russia. Does anybody seriously believe that speaking of Russian sending soldiers back home in body bags will impress President Putin or Russian soldiers? And -short of a full scale boots on the ground military intervention- the US Army is just not trained, equipped or prepared for achieving decisive successes in this theater of operations. It is a PR stunt.
– OPEC agreement desperately sought by KSA as their USD peg is under pressure.
While devious geo-strategical minds are indeed swarming into various think tanks and agencies, people taking decisions are -by any standard- much more interested by their own financial future. It has been, is and will forever be about The Money.
There is one and only one way to stop this tragedy: Stop the money flow. Moderate or hardcore terrorists and opponents will cease and desist if not being resupplied and paid.
The u.s. also supports terrorists in Libya.
