Thinking this over last night as I often do when sleep won’t happen, the following arrangement of syllables occurred to me:

Do we have any good numbers on Russian losses in Ukraina? From Kiev they say that Russia has lost 22 800 soldiers. UK says Russia has lost 15 000 soldiers, US states 10 000 lost soldiers etc. I guess this is all exaggerations, but what are the numbers?

Yes, the last report stated Russian losses were 1,300 this was somewhere about a month ago, but since that time is when most fighting stopped and they began pulling back and regrouping so I don’t expect the losses to be too much more since then. I estimate anywhere from the 1300-2000 range right now in KIA. This is supported by other verified info we have, like the amounts of wounded in action which have been confirmed in Moscow hospitals etc which fit a corresponding ratio profile to the KIA’s so these Russian MOD losses are accurate and fully believable. The 10k – 30k western stuff is just fantasy meant for their own public consumption/propaganda to buoy Ukraine’s disastrously flagging morale.
On top of that dont forget Russians dont count LDNR loses as Russian Army loses
so 1500-3000 of Russian Army(its really hard to tell exact number) and 1000-2000 of LDNR Army of Russian ethnicity Ukranians

The theft of Russian sovereign assets (as well as illegal seizures of assets of Russian citizens abroad) has, at a stroke, destroyed the trust that took a century to build. Think about the consequences. Other countries will now be understanding that their deposits are not safe, should they fail to toe the US line. This is the beginning of the unravelling of the house of cards that is western financial capitalism. those funds in the central bank had to be stored in the US for contractual and regulatory obligations (i.e. they were in muti-year bonds/GICs, they were placed as collateral, etc…). Russia has been reducing their exposure for the last 4 yrs or so, but it appears there was a hard floor on what they could remove from the US system without restricting their economic relations. Basically, they left the least amount of money in the system and took a calculated risk that the US wouldnt steal it. But now that the US has stole the money there is no coming back, the US has no leverage over Russia. Even if the US gave the money back today, Russia wouldn’t come back and now we’ll see other nations make similar decisions and minimize their exposure to the US. Globalization died the moment the US stole those funds, now we get to watch the body bloat and rot.

Yes, the move by the West to freeze assets is an act of desperation, as was the nonstop propagandizing and coercion during “COVID” as was the theft of the American election by 20 million votes. I thought all the countries were supposed to do that which actually defeats the purpose of paying in Rubles. Russia backed down on this scheme IMHO, they should demand Rubles and tell the oil purchasing nations to find the Rubles on their own. If they cant, then tough luck. US F16ma flew into Ukie airspace today after circling for about 40m near the Romanian/Ukrainian border aparantly repeatedly pulling some hefty G’s (from about 300knots to 580) just a few miles from the border. Could be ads b malfunction perhaps but i haven’t seen this kind of activity the last 2 months. Transponder signal was lost about 2 min after entering Ukraine. Can anyone confirm or explain pls?

As a aside – I noted since 24.Feb NATO aircraft are again using my Bavarian Alpine valley for Nap of the Earth Training runs. It’s a good training geography for flying up a valley below the mountain tops on either side and then tight turns up a perpedicular valley. They haven’t done this since the 1980s.
It seems to me that we are approaching the end game. With the toughest part of the Kiev Regime Army and their NATO instructors and equipment destroyed or encircled in the Donbass, or else surrendering, and no way that Western arms and ammunition can reach the Ukraine intact (even if they did prove to be of any use and Ukrainian troops knew how to operate them), what is left?
Now is the time when perhaps secret negotiations are under way between the Russian Federation and those countries with territorial claims to bits of the far west of the Ukraine: Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Belarus.
The bits to go to Poland, maybe two, three or even more provinces in the far west, notably Lvov, Russia will only be glad to get rid off, providing that that zone is left demilitarised, as a buffer state. This will leave the Poles with the horrible task of denazification there.
Probably Romania will be allowed by Russia to take Moldova (minus of course Transdnistria, which will become part of the old/new Russian territory of the eight provinces in the east and south of what used to be known as the Ukraine). Also Romania may be given back the small border area south of Chernivtsy, where Romanians live. All of this would of course depend on the will of the people. And all again be dependent on the areas being demilitarised.
However, any territorial concessions will have to be agreed on with Moscow. If Polish or Romanian troops and their equipment enter anywhere without Russian approval, they will be destroyed.
Slovakia could take back most of Transcarpathia (Carpatho-Rus/Subcarpathian Russia/Ruthenia), with a small part going to Hungary.
Belarus could take a small border area in the north-west of the Ukraine, where Belarussians live.
This will leave a new Ukraine, basically Central Ukraine, to become a new landlocked state, similar to Belarus. There will be little military presence and the whole region will be denazified.
All I would add is a corridor from Belarus to Kaliningrad in exchange for Poles to expand eastwards (as you describe). This would complement the other Transnistria enclave and allow a land terminus for the Nordstream II to compress and ship LNG (e.g., to the USA so that they can magically ‘de-Russify’ it (with a middleman commission and ‘new economic theory’ ritual) and then ship it back to the EU etc.). The the Russian world should be able to sit back and eat Chinese popcorn and watch the Euro-hysteria trash the western peninsula suburbs.
Imo, anything less than the total capitulation of Ukraine and capture of its territory would be a defeat for Russia. No NATO country would abide by the agreements, and the US will certainly use those areas West of the Dnieper for their military bases.
Even now, the western propaganda machine paints Russia as defeated, and without a total destruction of the Ukrainian state, they would humiliate Russia. Of course, that doesn’t have any effect inside Russia, but such a scenario would embolden the NATO for more provoking and escalation in the future.
Brute force is the only language they know. If Russia defeats the Ukrainian military that is supported by NATO, it would demonstrate the uselessness of NATO and that it’s a paper tiger.
It is unlikely that Russia will not impose an embargo on gas and oil exports to the EU, thus triggering the collapse of the West.

And this flag most successfully unites people in different republics of the former Soviet union and many of the people of the former Warsaw pact. Note, the babushka with the flag is Ukrainian. Armenian or a Kazah might not be trilled to fight under the Russian flag, but will likely go under the red one.
I for one remember it fondly. There were shortcomings, but also plenty of good things.

As an American with Russian-Ukrainian ancestors (my great-grandfather was a Russian Orthodox Priest), I fully support what Russia is doing to de-militarize and de-nazify the Ukraine. But in conversations with friends, family, and co-workers, I find that most continue to conflate modern Russia with the communist Soviet Union. Their understanding of the Nazi influence in Ukraine and the war in the Donbas is slow in coming, but it is coming.
My arguments to my circle of influence is that modern Russia is Orthodox, Christian, and completely in the right to protect the Ukrainians and Russians from Nazi genocide and the Globo-Homo agenda.
But antipathy towards godless communism and the ‘evil Soviet empire’ is deep and unwavering. Some few are waking up and opening their minds that modern Russia is a different country and situation, but this progress will be immediately squashed and replaced by hardline support of US and NATO’s full involvement in the war (up to and including Nuclear strikes) if the hated (in the West) red flag of Soviet Communism replaces the White, Blue, and Red flag of Russia (same colors as the US flag).
If Total War, Annihilation, and Armageddon is desired, waving the red hammer and sickle of Communism will bring it to pass. The USA will go all in, fully supported by the populace, and all hope for a resolution to this conflict and a multi-polar world will end.
You are right about this perspective, the red flag creates more hate and antipathy in the West.
On the other hand, the flag also serves to unite the peoples of the old USSR more. They won’t be thrilled under the idea that they are going to get annexed by the new Russian Empire. The USSR was multiethnic in a way that is more acceptable to minorities like Ukrainians, Armenians and Kazakhs.
Maybe the Union State should adopt a flag similar to the Soviet one, there are already some proposals who indicate this. Similar enough so that people could understand it as a rebirth but different enough to highlight the changes in perspective, the notion that this new union isn’t going to repeat the same errors of the past, specially in regard to it’s economic perspective, which should be more in line with today’s Beijing than with yesterday’s Moscow.
I don’t want to go off-topic too much, but a good proportion of the human population sees being “godless” as a good thing. That does not automatically mean that one is evil, debased or whatever attribute you’d like to assign to them. Being free from, for example, institutionalized religion was once seen as a major step of the cultural and social development of mankind and I tend to see it that way, too.
In fact being “godless” puts much more emphasis on a persons inner strength and ability to uphold a certain moral codex, because one has to search and define these rules for themselves, instead being spoon-fed by their respective religious dogma.

It is just a symbolic use of the flag because the USSR defeated the Nazis in WW2 and there are Nazis like the Azov Battalion in Ukraine. The flag is just a reminder of the struggle against Nazism of which there are still remnants in Ukraine.

I grew up in Romania and escaped the communists during Ceausescu’s time. Yes the times were sweet and peaceful, if you complied. It was like living in a prison, in which those who complied had all the benefits. This was no liberty, no freedom. Churches were almost forbidden, you could not advance in the communist party if you were seen going to Church; some church buildings which stood in the way of the dictator’s plan were simply demolished. In the name of this red flag (communism), all true Christians were imprisoned right from the start and forced through some draconic truly horrific re-education program, to take God out of their head. This actually turned many into Saints of the Prisons, as they never renounced Jesus Christ. Gulags also existed in Romania (The Danube-Black Sea canal), where you ended up if you voiced opposition to official government lines.
From what I know and read about, like the story of Saint Arseny the Russian (books available in English), in the name of the same flag the millions of Russian were dragged into Siberian gulags for destruction, Churches and monasteries all over Russia were closed and destroyed.
So, yes, the red hammer and sickle flag is a symbol of victory over Nazism, but I am afraid that it is much stronger symbol of oppression. Not to mention that as I know from the past, the word was that Soviet Union wanted to expand communism to the whole world, to already then create a one world government. This may indicate that the old forces behind the old bolshevism/communism are the same as the criminals driving the Empire of Lies today, striving for the same world government, under the name of a NWO.
Point is that I don’t think this is a symbol to resonate through many nations, to rally them in support in understanding the Russian point of view. I am surprised that so many Russians think positively about it, knowing how much the Russian nation suffered under the communist yoke.
By renouncing this red flag, Russia would automatically imply: We are not the Bolsheviks of the past, don’t even think about it! We are Russia of today, a free and freedom loving country, in which traditional Christians, Muslims and Jews can live peacefully.

I am worried about 2 things. 1. Transnistria. If Romania goes there, Russia just wait and see? They need to intervene. But if they take odessa asap. Romania/Poland/ukronazi may abandon it
2. Finn’s and Swedes NATO application. At first, some news suggest Croatia may oppose it. Now it is clear that, this not gonna happen. Isn’t any other country, who foiled this attempt? Hungary? Austria? Any one?

If Ukraine is divided up, will its colossal debt to the US, Europe, the IMF, etc. be as well? Will the Donbass have to pay any of it? Crimea-affixed Kherson? The possible state of Novorossya with capital in Odessa? Will rump Ukraine be responsible for all the debts racked up by the Maidan regime and its predecessors? If the latter, can a country saddled with debts it has no hope of ever paying and a desperate need to rebuild infrastructure and an economy ravaged by war possibly survive? Can Russia afford to ignore even failed state in the middle and west of the former Ukrainian space? Or will it have to do something for it, assuming the west will abandon a defeated Ukraine just as it has Afghanistan after being defeated there?
I wonder if what “the west” wants matters. That is my reading too. From the very beginning of SMO I have stated on several occasions that the “operation” was not against Ukraine; therefore, considering the potential ramifications at play, a strategic reconfiguration in Europe was the objective, namely the defanging of NATO as an instrument of US foreign policy.
It is quite certain that the US reaction to SMO was predictable and expected by the Russian planners and probably hoped for to enable the spill-over of the conflict to adjoining NATO zone and justify serious reprisals against Poland and Romania or other interfering states, thereby discrediting NATO and its article 5 as a shield leading eventually to its dismissal as an anachronistic relic of WWII’s aftermath. Another advantage of the SMO is the masking of the conflict’s main purpose (weakening or removal of US influence in European affairs) and attempting to contain it within Europe to prevent a dangerous escalation leading to a nuclear exchange.
So about those Russian hit men that parachuted into Kiev to assassinate President Z, according to the Telegraph. Did they get stuck in the mud like all the Russian tanks? Has the Telegraph turned into a UK version of the Onion?
Ultimately the Ukraine will be broken into apieses for Poland, Belarus and Rumania with the largest part going to Russia.

Wiki-The typical NATO standard brigade consists of approximately 3,200 to 5,500 troops-Not sure if Ukraine follows.
Most Kiev combat brigades are now NATO style with (4) Battlions and lots of support units. They are able to operate as indepdent formations ( ie they have their own support and Artie ) very roughly today’s NATO brigade is similar to a Division from 50 years ago.
Note – when a officer says a formation is destroyed it could mean many things. 30% casualties (KIA plus wounded plus MIA ) is generally the rule of thumb when a unit is no longer capable of anything but static defense from fortified positions.
