Dear friends,
For those of you who hate PayPal (which I understand!), I have just added a Flattr donation button (left column, right under PP button). Hopefully, and if I can find the time to read-up on it and wrap my exhausted brain around it, BitCoin will be next.
Many thanks and kind regards,
The Saker
Hello Saker
Wikipedia has a full article covering the Crimea crisis through their own perspective

Hi Saker,
I wouldn’t advise using bitcoin. It’s an unreliable asset, one which is experiencing a bubble of growth but which will come crashing down in the near future. There is a risk that bitcoins will become worthless in the near future as more and more regulatory authorities issue bans on its circulation (e.g. as in China).
Best,
@Anonymous:I wouldn’t advise using bitcoin
Well, it has been requested by some readers as a donation method and the least I can do is to try to comply. This being said, and just like with PayPal and Flattr, the first thing I would do is to immediately turn my bitcoins into dollars and deposit them in a real bank account.
Kind regards,
The Saker
Flattr is a good idea.
I’ll be hitting the flattr button like a mouse in a cage hitting a lever to get a piece of food :-)
Can I suggest that you put a flattr button at the bottom of every post? This will remind us to hit it and it will also be an indicator to yourself and other readers which articles are considered the best.
The other day here in Oz the Prime Minister (a type of neocon right-winger) solemnly warned Russia to ‘back off’. He even called in the Russian ambassador to deliver the message.
The Russian guy hit the TV news that night and fair dinkum he looked like a grey bureaucrat from the Soviet era. In fact I even wondered if he was the same guy from back then :-)
He spoke Russian not English and his impact in terms of getting the Russian message out was effectively nil.
Contrast this with Isreali PR. Most of them speak English with an American accent (heck, I suspect most of them ARE Americans) and for a tiny country of only a few million the Isreali national narrative is incredibly well articulated and widely understood: although I suspect that gradually more and more people dislike the mistreatment of the Palestinians.
If you are not in the pay of Russian intelligence you should be. RT.com is great but amongst bloggers and commentators in English in terms of puttin’ the Putin position this blog is hands down one of the best and most effective across all the Internets.
@Bernard: Flattr is a good idea.
Dunno. I got two flattrs so far, and no monetary figure on it. So I am not really sure of what that means…
Can I suggest that you put a flattr button at the bottom of every post?
God no! I don’t want to be obnoxious about that. I really have a hangup about asking for money, so this is why I want to keep it visible but discrete, not in huge red letters smack in the middle of the page over each article. Call me old fashioned, but that is how I am :-(

Well, I am not. But then, if I was, I would not fess up to it, now would I? LOL! How do I prove a negative? I guess if I was, I would not need a donations button :-)
But I take your comment as a compliment for which I thank you most sincerely.
Kind regards and cheers,
The Saker
Hi Saker
For some reason my credit card was not working on PayPal, I gave up this morning, set up a flattr account and subscribed to your blog.
I have been in sales for 3 years now, but still feel guilty asking for money. I end up quoting less for products because of this.
Such is life
