I have immense respect for Professor Stephen Cohen and when I see his one-man struggle to stop the crazies from triggering a war between the USA and Russia I always think of the words of Christ “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God“.
The Saker
Tucker Carlson: You followed this as close as anybody. Is there evidence, real evidence that the Putin government stole the election for Trump?
Stephen Cohen: Well you’ve interrogated several people and pursued the facts for that and haven’t found any. I haven’t found any. And until they produce some the answer is no.
The truth is as simple as that. Unfortunately, history teaches that truth is despised when authorities rush to judgment. Likewise peacemakers like Stephen Cohen are hated for speaking the truth.
I’m starting to respect Tucker Carlson. He has been demolishing the neocon bullshit artists one after another.
I hated him when he was on PBS as a sort of regular, as I recall.
Perhaps I used to be a liberal. Or have we all matured?
I think he has changed, and started to think for himself, as it were — really given more freedom. In the past, he provided the conservative voice –in other words a caricature– for such venues as CNN, much as today Juan Williams provides the liberal voice for Fox News. His show represents a sea change not only in media (propaganda) but also in the post color-revolution world.
When I woke this morning, I thought about the Georgian conflict of 2008 and how that should have given pause to grandiose plans to remake the middle east, but did not. http://www.globalresearch.ca/we-re-going-to-take-out-7-countries-in-5-years-iraq-syria-lebanon-libya-somalia-sudan-iran/5166 Is American policy an apparatus without brains? A cruel cold monster?
Tucker Carlsen has no independence.
He and all the rest at Fox work for Murdoch. A decision was made somewhere along the line (I don’t know approximately when…….. Nov 9?????…… because I never watch the Sewer —the Main “Stream” fouling American brain cells….) by Empire operative Murdoch to not go down the toilet with the rest of the MSM in the face of the Clinton debacle the rest of the MSM were (and most still are!!) firmly attached to.
So it seems to me that all these “reporters” who wish to keep their jobs are actors who can quickly adapt to any new script they are handed. They are Empire lackeys by profession and will never restore the Republic without orders to do so.
Like Brad Pitt answered with refreshing candor when he was asked what his opinion was on the Tibet issue (“Why are you asking me, man? I’m an actor!”) these employees will simply read and act whatever the script says.
The star of the anti-China movie running at that time (I forget the title…) Richard Gere, however was being paid for a political purpose that he had signed on to 100% as a Hollywood liberal: China bashing. So he pontificated at nauseating length as a “China expert.” that idiot movie goers were obviously influenced by.
Fox ownership and management, rather than compete with all the rest of MSM for consoling the butt hurt Killary supporters and rallying those deluded fools for confrontation with Russia, China, Iran, Syria and any other portion of the world that won’t dutifully and submissively answer orders from the NWO fascists with an automatic “Zig Heil!” apparently have made a business decision: capture more of the market of Trump voters with a short memory of what a neocon nest Fox has been, before they get flushed by their viewers and advertisers right down the toilet with the rest of the MSM.
They are biding their time and can never be trusted as long as Murdoch is calling the shots. They know what a short attention span hundreds of millions of tv viewers have and they know the Russia bashing is not working nearly as well as it did in the past, so they have made a tactical shift in editorial line. Strategically, they are still a nest of untrustworthy snakes, IMHO.
I would listen to Cohen in the many Alternative media places he is to be found, but I wouldn’t allow Fox to broadcast its watered down poison into my home, just to catch a few minutes of Cohen.
Dr. Cohen is on the John Batchlor show every Tuesday night discussing Russia, and he is, along with others like Chuck Hagel, Gil Doctorow, Bill Bradley, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, a member of the American Committee of East-West Accord.

Stephen Cohen about Fake News, Neo-McCarthyism, Aleppo, CIA hacking allegations and Rex Tillerson

I would carefully point out that Tucker is a Trump supporting Republican mouthpiece first & foremost, and not likely a genuine believer in the wisdom of detente with Russia, such as that which Stephen Cohen embodies. I admit that I’ve appreciated watching Tucker dismantle many arguments put forth by the “Russia hacked the DNC” wackos that have appeared on his show lately, since Trump became President elect,…..but I don’t recall him engaging in any strategic US foreign policy wisdom prior to that such as when the US supported, funded , instigated the 2014 Kiev Maidan coup which has led to the total destabilization of Ukraine , with NATO buildup on Russia’s western borders,…which Stephen Cohen points out. I would guess that Tuckers views about Russia were quite different then, and would likely remain so if Trump had not currently been hinting at wanting better “detente” with Russia.
Fox ‘News’ has always been trash, and still is, even if like a stopped clock it canbe right twicwe a day. It’s no journalism any more than any other western MSM. It is weird listening to it, and various right wing propagandists, taking out the liberals like putting the fish heads and coffee grounds i the trash, but that’s because the liberals have exposed themselves as ideological idiots too, and their time for being right twice a day has passed. Virtually no party, ideology, or ‘analyst’, with few exceptions, are capable of or permitted to do critical thinking, or even respond as a fully functioning, knowledgeable, human being.
As I mentioned somewhere else recently, we have traded the demons for ogres (with a few devils mixed in everywhere). Trump, as an ogre, is less ideological and can be kept mostly happy by letting him scowl and eat a few babies, although he may be subject to the manipulations of the demons and devils scattered through all the sides. What we have is a some time to keep working without Clinton blowing up the word — how much is uncertain, but the US and it’s collapse is in as bad shape as ever.
Whether Trump can rise to the occasion — or is actually playing it coy (doubtful) remains to be seen. Yes, one cannot drain a swamp alone, and one may indeed need to enlist some alligators, as the only residents of the swamp with any clout, to do it, but that’s a long shot and I don’t see any indications of it. What I see so far is old style right wing Republicanism, sociopathic ‘realpolitik’, and the usual corruption which has existed for uncounted years — but probably not nuclear war. I don’t expect a happy new year, but at least a year populated by living things on Earth.
People had darn well better quickly build a new left, restore real conservatives, and a party which can unite true left, true liberal, true conservatives, and true libertarian, into something sane, adult, and competent, which transcends the silly one-dimensional left vs right nonsense, and tosses out fictional ‘history’ and Orwellian fairy tales.
Great comments, especially yours, blue. Very well stated. Since this horrendous farce if an election, I feel trapped between two insane gangs. It’s become even harder to try to figure out the truth given the insane fever pitch of the propaganda coming from “both” sides (the word “both” in this context is itself a loaded term because neither faction seems to be capable of entertaining the idea that there may be more than two ways of looking at things). Kind of reminds me of fundamentalists vs. atheists. Thank you, Mr. Saker, blue and the rest of you for confirming that I am not going insane. Or sinking into despair, alone, forsaken by God.
