Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, are holding a joint news conference in St. Petersburg following their meeting. Items for discussion on the agenda were expected to include economic projects and the settlement of the Syrian crisis. Erdogan is on his first foreign visit since the attempted military coup in Turkey.

“Astrologically incredibly meaningfull is the date of the meeting.”

Stunningly wonderful conversation of the Russian Federation President with that of the very grateful
President of Turkey, both powerful men on the very same page. Something I have to state is that it is impossible for at least the last 5 US Presidents to do because of their firm belief in the illusory US exceptionalism.
A very happy time for multi-culturism I.E. humans!
I hope for improved relationship between Russia and Turkey but knowing Erdogan everything should be taken with a caution. Hopefully this meeting was also a starting point for recognition of Assad as a legitimate president of Syria byTurkey and change of tune in relation to conflict in Syria.
This could be a critical pivotal turning point.
If – as now seems likely – the “coup d’etat” against Erdogan was genuine and CIA / US Of Aggression backed, its total failure [and due to Russian help possibly too] was a massive “egg in the face” for the Empire. But – now maybe Turkey has turned irrevocably to Russia. Iran, Syria and Russia already are strongly allied in many spheres of interest.
The EU is already starting to crumble – this can only add.
Maybe in the future, historians will look back on this point as the days when the change to a brighter future started – when the demise of the Beltway Shaitans began.
Well the pipeline is back on. I always thought it going through Bulgaria would be better, if only the Bulgarian support for it would stabilize, and they wouldn’t keep giving into western pressure against it, or if the west would stop thwarting it.
It will be interesting to see if the EU now changes it’s stance on South Stream and revokes the Third Energy Package stipulations just to sabotage Turk Stream.
Whoopee fantastic!! Vladimir Putin you are the statesman..Angie, Kerry and all those anglo zionist will be writhing temporarily…next kowtowing visits to Kremlin will be ??..
‘Kill Russians and Iranians, threaten Assad,’ says ex-CIA chief backing Clinton

Can this Erdogan be trusted?
Even before the coup he seemed unstable mentally ( I am not meaning to be rude saying this)
Putin is very rational – Erdogan seems to be emotional.
The fact that he could not see the benefits of Turkstream and of keeping out of Syria and maintaining the friends with neighbours policy – shows he is not a good politician.
Not many politicians survive if they go against US diktats. There may be some method in Erdogan’s madness. On one hand, Erdogan wanted a chunk of Syria which suited the US. On the other hand US wanted to block Turkstream and block other trade between Turkey and Russia which is very damaging for Turkey.
a Statesmann to me is a politician who realizes the natural slope of his time and who is disziplined enuogh to be a model in his team and his land.
Maybe Erdogan is rising, not least by the model of his great neighbour – a realization seemingly has occured, and a Pisces-heart like his is deep like no other and good for any surprise so his “God-giveness” of the coup.

After Turkey Warns West May “Lose” The Country, NATO “Reminds” Ankara It Is Still An Alliance Member
Less than a day after Turkey’s surprising pivot toward Russia, when in his first post-coup trip abroad Turkey president Erdogan flew not to a western, or NATO, ally but instead jaunted over the Russia to fix and cement future ties, including among other a resumption of work on the mothballed Turkish Stream gas pipeline, NATO appears to have gotten rather defensive, and in what some commentators dubbed an “odd move”, reminded Turkey that it is still an ally member.
And that ladys and gentlemen was the moment when the Russians once again
sold out christianity. I bet the balkans as a spheare of influence for the turks in
exchange for the end of support for the islamic terrorists in Syria und
kaukasus.
All the propaganda of the USA could not turn the orthodox world against russia.
Now putin has done it on his own.
I Guess the USA has allways luck with his enemys.
With this meeting with the leader of the one people whose only purpose on this
planet is to kill christians and which entire existence is nothing but stolen from
greeks, christian arabs and armenians.
The russians persuaded the serbs to go against austria and the armenians to go
against turky and abandoned them. And so it repeats.
And i cant believe that there are still people on the balcans who see russians as brothers.
Nato is now the only chance to prevent turky to take balcans with consent off russia….
Dark Times ahead when you have to side with the black knight to prevent an attack of
the devil.

I dbt agree.
Russia want stability and no enemies in their region – they have log ago accepted that countries of the former USSR have gone their own way.
Some remaining friends others deciding to be enemies.
Turkey on their southern border needs to be neutralised. That is the key aim of Russia.
For example Turkey before the breakdown in relations stayed neutral over Crimea. Russia wants a return to neutrality and an end to mischief making with the meji and ukraine.
Armenia will always be defended they just need to be able to develop their economy create jobs and that will only happen through Russia and Iran working together to create trade that links in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey into the Silk Road.
Russia is thinking big along with China and now iran.
There is real potential for the development of the East and then in the future why not the Balkans being part of it as well as India and Pakistan plus all the Stans.the whole area has chance to grow if politicians take their lead from Russia and China and Iran.
Syria can also repair itself after the war if their is operate with neighbours and opportunity for work in the region
Austria was working against Serbs long before the war (WWI) – so it wasn’t a matter of Serbia “going against Austria”.
Once the Ottoman threat receded for Austria, it wanted to control the territory Serbs lived on and to weaken them or kick them out. They started colonizing areas of Vojvodina with Catholics and sometimes kicking out the Serbs that were already settled there. They were also the ones (under Empress Maria Theresa who defined Catholics as Croats and Serbs as Orthodox, even though at this time there were many Catholicized Serbs, especially in Dalmatia. They were heavily supportive of the Albanians, Bosnian Muslims, and Croats against Serbs. There were even a Bosnian Muslim death squads, formed by Austria, to hunt Bosnian Serbs in the years before WWI. They were doing countless other things, including their annexation of BiH which was harmful to Serbs.
Of course they weren’t the only ones, the Italian government was supporting terrorism in Macedonia and Croatia against Serbs.
“Nato is now the only chance to prevent Turkey to take the Balkans”
Haha, who do you believe has stronger influence upon NATO: Turkey or the drooling, retarded Psheks? OK — just to cheer you up a little, NATO might limit Turkey’s imperial ambitions but Western imperialism is absolutely not going to stop flooding Europe with torrents of predominantly Muslim refugees in the wake of NATO’s perpetual terror wars. Your dear Western Christian allies won’t spare you “the Muslim peril”, however the latter not being personified by Sultan Erdogan.
But I guess bashing Russia offers all the consolation needed.
There are few “Turks” in the Balkans outside Bulgaria and the Christian “Turkic” people (not Turks) in Romania (and they are a tiny minority).Bulgaria is the only country with large numbers of Turks, around 9-10% of the population. But many of them are Slavic “Turks”.Not ethnic Turks. Turkey as a large country can have “some” influence in the Balkans. But never hope to recreate a modern day “Ottoman” influence. That may be a dream of a few Turks, and the “boogeyman” fear of some in the Balkans. But its not real. What some are “fearing” in the Balkans is not “Turkish” influence but Albanian and Bosniak Muslims instead. And they conflate the two together. They aren’t the same. While its true that the Turks might try to use the common religion as a entry point, that doesn’t have to be the case.Russia has shown how having a common religion doesn’t necessarily translate into control of another nation. The fact that Romania,Bulgaria,Greece,Serbia, and Macedonia, are mostly Orthodox hasn’t given Orthodox Russia control of those countries. And Bosniak and Albanians being Muslim in most cases, won’t necessarily give Turkey control either.
“And that ladies and gentlemen was the moment when the Russians once again sold out Christianity.”
Excuse me for possibly being impertinent here, but with all the horrible clowns, midgets, and assorted degenerates among the figureheads of “Christian Europe” (Tsipras, Hollande, Tusk, Juncker, Cameron, Merkel…), Erdogan comes across as a highly astute and able human being, mind you. I strongly suspect Vladimir Putin shares that perception too.
Agree with your comments. We can always be suspicious about Erdogans intentions, whether he might be used as “Trojan” horse by the NATO mafia but Putin knows more than all of us specially what really happened with the attempted coup, who was really behind, etc then he knows what is the real situation of Erdogan concerning his US/NATO “buddies”
Complete nonsense, if it were for our Western ‘partners’ and so called allies, in Balkans we would still be Turkish slaves. Have you forgotten who has repeatedly beaten the Turks throughout the history? Do you think Austrians or other Western powers have actually helped our liberation? Your comment is disgraceful.
I see you already got some good replies so I’ll stop here.
Correct. And if it were up to “The Christian West”, the Balkans would also see steadily growing Wahhabi penetration and subversion. Really, people who sincerely believe in Western propaganda kind of get what they deserve.

Turkey: Russia Relations No Alternative to NATO
aug 10
Turkey remains a “strong” member of NATO, the presidency said on Wednesday, after a hugely symbolic visit by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Russia raised questions about its future in the alliance.
Erdogan’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Ankara’s NATO membership — which dates back to 1952 — was not “mutually exclusive” with relationships with other countries like China and Russia.

Most commentors here sound still traumatized from the ottomans, they don’t seem to approve of Putin sitting next to Erdogan, they’d rather hope for war between Russia and Turkey. It’s sad
@ Anon:
“Most commentors here sound still traumatized from the ottomans, they don’t seem to approve of Putin sitting next to Erdogan, they’d rather hope for war between Russia and Turkey. It’s sad”
Yeah… whatever…
…and I’m one of those you describe, but not one of the ones that wanna see Russia go to war Turkey. Since I don’t wanna see Russia go to war with anybody, not unless it’s supported by the Russian population first and foremost.
At the end of the day, this affair of Russia getting into bed with the enemy is because of two, (maybe three) things: 1- and this is the favorite topic of Pepe Escobar; the darn gas pipelines, 2- Russia’s need to have free access from the black sea via the Bosphorus to rest of the open seas (just a thought: instead of making a deal with the devil Turdogan, wouldn’t it be way easier to just take over those passages? Put them under UN jurisdiction if you must or something similar?) …but to be fair, why do we, the rest of the world (the portion of the world that doesn’t wage imperial wars for no reason, that is) have to suffer a Russia making dodgy deals with an even dodgier country, all because they wanna secure free and safe passage for their naval fleet through the Bosphorous?! And we’re all supposed to be clapping and cheering this? Even though it all stinks to high heaven?!? WTF?!
Turkey, particularly under their current regime, it’s nothing but Trojan Horse. Good luck to Russia in dealing with them when they finally show their true duplicitous face and become an anchor around their necks rather than the asset they were hoping they’ll be… ;/

PS: Breaking news on RT: Turkey is intervening in Syria (supposedly bombing ISIS). Did Assad agree to this? Anyone knows? Anyone… (?)
–
Hmmm… are we supposed to forget that Russia broke the news that ISIS was selling stolen Syrian oil to the Turks, remember those long truck convoys exposed by the Russian Military’s satellite pictures, and more specifically: they we’re selling their loot to people with links to the Turdogan family. Remember those days?
Are we supposed to forget about the Russian pilot killed? Are we supposed to forget how Turkey allowed ISIS ‘fighters’ to come in and out of their porous border with Syria as they pleased? Should I go on?
I would recommend people read John Helmer over at Dances with Bears blog.
He has a very negative view of what went on in St Petersburg.
He essentially states that Erdogan came to play the Russians and his real audience was in Washington and Brussels.
I read it and I would be interested in other peoples views as I don’t trust Erdogan and it fits my view of him as a two faced snake.
He is meeting John Kerry next week or the weeks after and we will see how he behaves then

yup I thought it was very astute article
my personal views are expressed by words such as
Trojan horse, all mouth and no trousers, where’s the beef…a windmill will face into the wind whatever direction it comes from, fisherman like to play a fish a long time to entirely ensure it is submissive before being netted…etc etc

@ James lake:
Thanks for the link. Plenty of interesting bits, too many to list, but this caught my eye:
“Putin refused to agree to a Turkish demand for lifting visa restrictions on Turkish workers in Russia [etc]”
One has to wonder what’s Turdogan obsession with sending his people abroad.
In this case he wants Russia to lift visa restrictions for Turkish “workers,” in the EU’s case… he demands free “tourist” visa access to all EU countries for all his “citizens.”
I smell a rat. And not a subtle nor a very smart one for that matter :/
No wonder good old Pepe keeps calling him a wanna-be Sultan.
This vile creature wants a Caliphate that extends as far and wide as the Earth itself, never mind restoring the Ottoman empire!
This lunatic is aiming above and beyond that.
And… oh! joy!
If he turns away from NATO, and he takes over their base…. he’ll instantly have several tactical nukes to his deranged disposal [provided he gets the codes. But can you trust your arch Zio-enemies not to give him the codes? Or can you trust he doesn’t have a bunch of hackers working around the clock on cracking those codes? Hmmmmm (?)]
*crickets – crickets* Oh! Goodie! /end sarc
Wasn’t that old Missile Crisis about how the US wanted to park some nukes on Turkey and then the USSR attempted to retaliate by parking some soviet nukes on Cuba? And that brought us as close to a nuclear war, as we ever were… or am I making stuff up?
What the hell happened between then and now? Where were the Russian secret services in the meanwhile? Asleep or something?
How on Earth have we ended-up with nukes [tactical or otherwise] on Turkey?
Someone! Please do tell me there are some Russian equal nukes in the Caribbean, maybe Mexico… or even Canada.
No? Yes?
-TL2Q
how you ended up with nukes in Turkey? Removed. No attacking other commenters. Mod Turkey is the second most important member in NATO after the US, forget Turkey as a muslim country, NATO occupies Turkey.
To my understanding Erdogan has been trying to free his country from this terrorist organisation and it will not be an easy task, Putin understands this.
“One has to wonder what’s Turdogan obsession with sending his people abroad. In this case he wants Russia to lift visa restrictions for Turkish “workers,”
This is the result of an error made years ago by Russia. Instead of using higher priced workers from Russia (which helps Russian workers, and keeps the money in the Russian economy). They (bowing to oligarchs) allowed Turkish construction companies to build a lot of building projects in Russia. That allowed for more kickbacks in the contracts. And with the cheaper Turkish labor more graft in the wages paid out.The money (minus the kickbacks, which find there way to juicy bank accounts in the West) then went to Turkey, leaving little in Russia. The Turks make a fortune from that. The Russian oligarchs make a ” bundle” as well. The only ones hurt by it or the average people in Russia. Who don’t get the jobs. And the Russian state stuck with paying out the money. Of course no doubt the projects look nice. The great nation of Russia should have massive construction companies and large staffs of skilled Russian workers building these projects. But as long as the present situation is allowed to continue. Russia ,like in so many other circumstances will be dependent on outsiders for what are essential services that they should never depend on foreigners for. Hence, the purpose of this article, and Glaszov’s plans I believe.
Uncle Bob,
Its give and take, scratch my back I scratch yours
Ha,yes, with a Mafia crime family. But not for the Russia ,Russians hope to see.
@ Uncle Bob:
Sounds about right.
I despair to think that Russian citizens are treated, if no equally at least similarly, to the way the Europeans are being treated by their corrupt officials/oligarchs.
It’s the same story over here; they don’t train their native workforce and instead they import skilled or semi-skilled labor from overseas while paying them very little. It’s a win-win for the oligarchs and a lose-lose for everybody else.
No wonder the Russians treat these foreign laborers like scum (I saw it on a documentary, which of course was trying to smear Russians as racist. Yet, I instinctively knew there was something else going on and the locals had a justification for their actions).
“Russia, like in so many other circumstances will be dependent on outsiders for what are essential services that they should never depend on foreigners for. Hence, the purpose of this article, and Glaszov’s plans I believe.”
I believe by “this article” you meant actually this one: /paul-craig-roberts-and-michael-hudson-russian-government-is-reconsidering-the-neoliberal-policy/
No worries, I knew exactly what you meant. Great article, btw. PCR and professor Hudson together, praising Sergey Glaziev economic vision for Russia!
What’s not to like? :-)
-TL2Q
And there are russians who are imported to other countries for same reasons…so how will it feel like to be discriminated against on basis that one is imported for labour, those imported russians can answer that question.
