Gleb Bazov is reporting that DNR forces have secured the City Administration in Mariupol and raised the DNR flag above it. Also, the City Council was taken.

Many Americans are awoken to the corruption in our governmental bodies, intelligence agencies, NGO’s, MSM, judicial branches, and military senior officers (perfumed princes}.
This is one of many reasons why Russia must push the envelope in regards to NATO. Russia needs to pacify all of Ukraine, not just the east and south.

2) Why did Putin elect to keep the Atlantic-Integrationist Elvira Nabiullina at her post as head of the Russian Central Bank when she is rumored to have been responsible for Russia’s failure to protect the country’s foreign reserves? According to Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Russia has been deprived of about $300 billion of its foreign currency holdings. Wouldn’t this justify firing her for incompetence? I’m not sure what Putin’s thinking is on this, but it is a mystery to me. So any clarification would be helpful.

As I reported earlier, there’s strong chance that the Berdiansk ship fire was not a “Tochka” strike or any sort of “strike” at all. More reports are coming out to support this, such as:

“(autotranslate from Russian) As it turned out, the fire in the port of Berdyansk was not connected either with the hit of the Tochka-U OTRK in the landing ship, or with any military actions by the Ukrainian side in general.
The fire broke out in the berth fuel storage facilities, according to CCTV footage, and then the fire spread to the property stored on the quay wall and spread to the moored landing craft, which completed unloading.”

As someone else posted this video https://youtu.be/IkfzmglTxyM around the 0:25 or so mark, you can see smoke start rising very gradually but there is no clear sign of any major explosion. Any explosions AFTER the fact that were seen were merely ammo detonations which were on board the ship as the whole point of the ship was to transport arms.

A Tochka missile is a giant 4500lbs ballistic missile, the precursor to the Iskander. It can level a city block and the plume/mushroom cloud from its hit would be seen miles away. What I see in that video is no where in the magnitude of any Tochka missile strike so for now to me the above theory is far more likely that it was caused by some sort of fire in the fuel tanks near the ship.

Only question is how: the obvious answer can only be either 1. sabotage or 2. negligence.

Negligence SEEMS unlikely simply because transportation of such flammable/explosive objects is typically done in such a way as to be foolproof from even a momentary lapse of judgment. But ofcourse in a ‘war’ type scenario under heavy pressure/stress anything is possible. But to me the chances are quite low. It seems much more in the profile of an act of sabotage of some sort.

Keep in mind there is not a single shred of proof that a Tochka missile hit, or any missile or Ukrainian strike of any sort. Nor has the MOD confirmed or denied anything in relation to this, so we don’t know for certain. Hopefully MOD might release a statement on this to confirm.

Latest news: Russia has now completely cleared Izyum, and destroyed an attempted Ukrainian counter-attack.

The territory south of Izyum is now open and the Russians are flooding into it.

Far bigger news than a strike on a cargo ship.

The Ukrainian army (over 60,000 strong, apparently) arrayed against the Donbas republics now have an agonizing choice: drop their heavy equipment now and flee the encirclement, or sit tight and wait for the bag to be put over their head.

There are not other options: flee now, or surrender later.

Let’s not forget how much media and even military hype there are in modern warfare. According most studies casualty figures are lower than estimated and warfare not at all as fast and fascinating Blitzkrieg spectacle as believed.

The twelfth of Trevor Dupuy’s Timeless Verities of Combat is:

“Combat activities are always slower, less productive, and less efficient than anticipated.”

From Understanding War (1987):

“This is the phenomenon that Clausewitz called “friction in war.” Friction is largely due to the disruptive, suppressive, and dispersal effects of firepower upon an aggregation of people. This pace of actual combat operations will be much slower than the progress of field tests and training exercises, even highly realistic ones. Tests and exercises are not truly realistic portrayals of combat, because they lack the element of fear in a lethal environment, present only in real combat. Allowances must be made in planning and execution for the effects of friction, including mistakes, breakdowns, and confusion.

While Clausewitz asserted that the effects of friction on the battlefield could not be measured because they were largely due to chance, Dupuy believed that its influence could, in fact, be gauged and quantified. He identified at least two distinct combat phenomena he thought reflected measurable effects of friction: the differences in casualty rates between large and small sized forces, and diminishing returns from adding extra combat power beyond a certain point in battle. There are several examples. During WW2 RAF ground attack aircraft pilots tested rockets to hit area similar to size of German tank. The rest result: one of 40 rockets hit the area. In real combat the pilots needed more than 800 rockets to got one direct hit to target. Using bombs was ever more desperate try. Just one of 3000 bombs (ground attack aircraft) hit the target.

Armies also have changed a lot. Very small minority of all soldiers are ground combat. Sometimes even as few than 5-10% are combatants.

So the main reason for slow RF advance is quite normal. The land warfare is still rather slow. I also suggest that the numbers of Ukie soldiers especially those called real fighters are likely much much lower than claimed 260,000 or 600,000. Most of their armed forces are actually garrison type 2nd 3 rd class mostly rear units.

It was not immediately clear which company Kirillov was specifically referring to because Rosemont Seneca is a decentralized investment fund, comprised of several entities sharing similar names. According to the document, a nearly $32-million program was aimed at “organizing work of the laboratories, built and modernized with the help of the donor [the US government],” as well as “monitoring infectious diseases” and conducting work to “react rapidly” to outbreaks. The program also listed the “safe collection, processing, temporary storage and transportation of clinical samples” as its goals.

The Ukrainian biolaboratories network has been funded by other US agencies as well, Kirillov said, describing the scale of the biolabs program as an “impressive” one.

“Apart from the military, the US Agency for International Development, the George Soros Foundation, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are directly involved in its implementation. Scientific supervision is carried out by leading research organizations, including the Los Alamos National Laboratory, which develops nuclear weapons,” the official said.”

How serious are reports of encircled Russian troops round Irpin? What about the rumored constant attacks on the Kherson airport? Wondering when Russia will up the ante. Or maybe Russia doesn’t want to risk losing more troops?

I am asking questions really just because I want to understand what is happening on the ground. Mariupol seems to be mostly secured by Russian and DPR troops. But the rest of the operation seems to be exhausted. Maybe I am wrong here.
