Introduction by The Saker: the owner of the DTA YouTube channel has subtitled in English the full documentary of Alexandr Sladkov “Real War – the 2nd Chechen War” which I consider to be one of the best out there and which is a “must see” for all those interested in Russia, the horrors of “the triumph of democracy” 1990s and the conditions which gave birth to what I call the “New Russia” under Putin. I strongly believe that it was the events in Chechnia which literally forced the Russian people to wake up for the slumber, delusions and lies of the 1990s. Furthermore, by the time Russia had to enter the 2nd Chechen war the country was truly at the edge of a total and final collapse. The actions of the Russian military in Chechnia, and especially the heroic stance of the 6th Airborne company in Ulus-Kert, served a a kind of shame-inducing electroshock to the entire nation which finally realized “enough is enough!”.
The 2018 Russian military is absolutely and totally different from the military you will see in this documentary. However, it is this suffering but also absolutely determined Russian military of the 2nd Chechen war which gave birth to the modern 2018 Russian military. Thus while, on one hand, everything has changed between 1999 and 2018, on the other hand, there is a direct link between the war in Chechnia and the war in Syria.
Finally, as an illustration of my point, those of you who are especially attentive will find footage of Valery Vasilyevich Gerasimov who is currently Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. Will you recognize him? Look next to whom he stands and connect the dots for yourself :-)
A big THANK YOU to owner of the DTA YT channel for making this very important translation! Please make sure to visit his channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-0uB4CYO447V6oetKuBoxQ
The Saker
The Yeltsin years were a negative blessing for Russia. The country learned what liberal Western liberal capitalism was all about. It was plundered of 100 billion dollars a year by Western corporations and banks. Poverty appeared and Russia was looking into dissolution. It was then that Russian patriotic forces reacted, offering Yeltsin a deal: If he resigned and accepted Putin, he would not be prosecuted. He accepted the deal. Putin appeared and the rest is history. Russians are now looking at Ukraine, a carbon copy of what existed in Russia under Yeltsin. There is no way that the globalists can now subvert Russia, as everybody remembers what previously happened. When Putin won the March elections, not even Soros bothered with any street “demonstrations” against him.
The coup d’etat against Yanukovich in 2014 was another blessing for Russia. As I have written before, the coup started a chain reaction which cannot be stopped. Instead of breaking up Russia, the globalists have started a process by which it will be enlarged, ie. reunified. At least 75 % of Ukraine has been created on Russian lands. It’s only a matter of time before they return to Russia.
Stupid Think Tanks of Wall Street and Washington beating by a few verse in the bible:
“He who digs a hole for another will fall into it himself”.
“Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him”.
“People who start landslides, get crushed”.
Very interesting history of the more famous battles.
We see General Shamanov (led the Airborne for eight years) and General Gerimasov who today are powerful leaders, the former just retired (after Chechen War having led troops in the Abkhazia war against Georgia) and now heads the Duma Defense Council; and the latter Chief of the General Staff.
So, their experience in the Second Chechen War was profoundly influential in subsequent use of Russian military, in 2006 and in 2014 (Crimea), quite likely Donbass and certainly, Syria.
We can see and hear the Russian tactics of treatment of prisoners and civilians, all part of the strategy to limit the combat and pacify the “ocean” the terrorists swam in.
I bet I can guess who the Russia General is standing beside – Ramzdan Kadyrov – and probably Ramzdan’s father
I love this site to help me gain knowledge and perspective of the rest of the world. This video is very good and very real, but as someone from the US, I’m lost on the various “sides” and parties in this conflict.
Any succinct version of who is who? Sounds like
Chechnya chose Islam over Russian constitution
Wahabi came in
In this video Moscow(Russia) is combating the Wahabi/Islam insurgents in Chechnya?
Apologies for the ignorance. :(
Nothing on this to help me?
Start with wiki – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Chechen_War – you may start from part Invasion in Dagestan.
Documentary describes – Islamist invasion in Dagestan , russian troops entry to Chechnya after expelled islamists from Dagestan , Grozny assault in 1999, Alhan-Kala and operation after Grozny, battle for village Komsomolskoe – where russian army broke the back of organized islamist resistance.
All videos in docu from Russian side. about parties – maybe i somewhere lost in terms and tranlations, Militias – dagestani locals who took weapons to defend home until russian army came. Term “Militants” – i used for boeviki – islamist chechen and foreigh fighter .
Also you maybe have problem who is who in russian army – problem that different branches where used .
OMON – special police purpose unit , VDV – Airborners , UFSIN – Ministry of Justise units (usually they are working with prisoners ), GRU – Main Intelligence Directorate . In one moment were showed gantamirov’s militias – chechen forces loyal to federal goverment
Alexsander Sladkov is famous russian war correspondent , he worked since 1st chechen war . On my channel you can found another his translated documentary about war in South Ossetia’ 08.
Thanks very much!! So many questions I have. I’ll pose them on Youtube I guess.
if you have other questions, better to ask under video in youtube, i’m checking my channel every day.
