The Russian Navy has launched live-fire exercises off the Syrian coast as the US is still preparing for a possible military action against the country’s government.
The Russian exercises will be held from April 11 to April 26, the period when, according to some experts, the US strike will be most likely if the administration of US President Donald Trump decides to attack Syria.
On April 10, Russia’s envoy to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin once again confirming that Russian forces are ready to shoot down missiles and target the launchers in case of an escalation in the war-torn country.
Ali Akbar Velayati, the top adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, vowed to support the Damascus government against any attack of the US and its allies.
On the other hand, Israel, which is alongside with Saudi Arabia, is the main Iranian competitor in the region openly supports a US military action against Syria. Housing Minister Yoav Galant, a former commander of the Israeli Defense Forces Southern Command, publicly vowed to assassinate the Syrian president arguing that “the world will be a better place without Assad.”
The UK, France and Germany are following the course of the US administration.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, over 3,354 fighters of Jaysh al-Islam and 8,642 members of their families had been evacuated from Duma district since the evacuation agreement was reached between the group and Damascus on April 8.
The number of the remaining fighters of Jaysh al-Islam in Duma district is unknown. However, local sources expect that the evacuation process will be over within 48 to 72 hours. Formally, the Syrian Army already established a full control of the area.
On April 12, serivcemembers of the Russian Military Police are set to be deployed in the Duma district. According to pro-government sources, they will secure the area for OPCW investigators that may arrive area later this week to probe the alleged chemical attack, which took place there on April 7.
Russia, Syria and Iran described the chemical attack reports as provocation while the US and its allies used them to increase pressure on the Assad government and started drawing up plans for military actions against Damascus.
Here is my take on the current situation. Rumors are the Special Forces (US, Israeli, French and British) captured in Douma have been handed over to US so WWW3 avoided for now. MSM now say a strike could happen tonight. So the USN Donald Cook is the bait to gauge the response from Russia. Carrier Battle Group enroute is 10 days away. So USN Cook is tasked with firing off a bunch of cruise missiles into Syria. Russian personnel will be targeted at Tartus. If Russia responds by sending the USN Cook to the bottom of the Med then it is game on. Your 911 moment, Russians sink the Cook. Remember the USS Cook!
Yes, everyone remember unfortunate USN Donald Cook. How can we forget its short stay in Black Sea in 2014.
US will not attack (if at all) until Battle Group arrives. Makes no sense.
If the intent is to sacrifice the Donald Cook as a provocation to attack Syria and Russia, it makes perfect sense.
Remember the Maine! was the battle cry of the Spanish-American War that was used to justify US takeover of the Spanish colonies worldwide.
Provocations, excuses and theatrics to justify an attack are useless if one can’t win on the battlefield.Russia won against Germany, USA lost to Vietnam, just saying.
Russia creating War Cabinet
“And so it was even before the US Treasury announced it’s newest sanctions . . .that President-elect Putin was preparing a successor Cabinet of ministers on the principle that they would be organised as a headquarters staff for fighting a war on all fronts without the option of negotiating terms with the enemy . . .The new government is to be a war cabinet, in Russian parlance a Stavka..”

Remembering that much goes on we don’t even hear about, Russia continues to strengthen it’s abilities and is now on a war footing. The US don’t realise what they have started.
Those wondering what China is doing might want to read a detsiled and informative account here on not only how they are going flat out to dethrone the dollar but also a good account of US financial crimes going back decades.

If the US can be prevented from murdering too many people in the meantime, fairly soon it won’t be able to.

The truth about the American government is so bad, so horrific that the average bullshitted American just cannot see it. We are the Evil Empire in spades! Think of the enormous revolution in thought required of one who has been told we are the bright hope of mankind, to grasp the reality of who we really are. This mental incapacity to face the truth is the real problem that will probably ensure our doom as a species in the near future. At this very moment our insane “leaders” are planning military crimes that may quite likely trigger a nuclear war. And the people are sleeping as this crisis is unfolding, and the storm could come crashing down on our world at any moment now…….
After the full nuclear exchange has obliterated the major cities of our world, we will never know who did what, and in what order to cause this nightmare. Any capacity to know the truth about all that will be obliterated in those few terrible hours when all communications will go down, and become irrelevant in the desperate scramble to survive. There will never be an accurate history of what happened. And in a relatively short time there will be no one left to read history of any kind – only a smouldering silence………………..

Pretty much sums up the future … although I suspect we will not see
so many drones….
There are, and always have been, forces at work that act to balance and neutralise the darker inclinations of the human race. Those of us who love, even a little contribute to a vortex of energy that counters the downward pull of the agents of the negative force, those who have no qualms in enriching themselves at the expense of their fellow man, and of our collective home, planet earth. Spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, contemplation and the like, all have immense value. Though it behooves us to rise above the emotional band, and to remember to not try to direct the spiritual force. IT, of itself is much more effective when we take the path of “Lord, thy will be done, not mine”. Who are we to direct God’s love? God does not need our “advice”, IT does need clear channels however. Our ultimate aim should be to become a “magnet of love”. Apologies for any potential proselytising tone, its not my intention to preach in any way, but to point out how we can be of use as individuals when it appears that all hope is lost.
Thank you for this.
You’re welcome. To clarify, being a vehicle for divine love or charity, does not mean putting aside one’s personal will or becoming passive to the point of inaction. Our creative imagination after all, is Soul in action. Best, D.
We have been in these kinds of head-on confrontations before. I grew up during the Cold War and am a U.S. historian. I’m retired now, but taught it on the university/college level for 50 years. I also agree with the individual who emphasized the power of spiritual forces, prayer for example. There are many times we almost came to a third world (nuclear) war; the Cuban Missile Crisis comes to mind. I was an undergraduate at the time, 18 years old, and I remember it well. I have also taught it too many times to count. We came very, very close to war with the Soviet Union in 1962 over the missiles they had placed in Cuba at Fidel Castro’s request. Castro had no intention of attacking the US. He knew that would be the end of his island country. He wanted the missiles to protect against another US attack on him, as had happened in the failed Bay of Pigs invasion the year before. Over a great many years and a great deal of thought about these kinds of crises, I believe there is indeed a force in the universe that we can join with, call it love (the Gospel of John says God is love), that can act to prevent nuclear war and other forms of mass destruction. We have come close a great many times. I have read accounts by people in high national security positions who have testified to this. It is not humankind’s usual behavior that draws us back from apocalypse. It is the spirit of God acting with and through people of good will. My purpose is not to proselytize. The spirit of God can act with and through anyone of any faith or non-faith who is a person of good will.
Apparently Russia killed over 200 US special forces:

Satanovskiy. When I read the name I thought he was a fake. But he is not.
Very interesting bits and pieces and a hint of a bigger picture.
So Ghoutta is a heavy F/UK/US defeat.
Sounds trivial, but it reoccurs to me in new splendour how there is a total media blackout of what’s really going on.
Meanwhile, in Syria …
“Important to note, both Russia and Syria continue to conduct its business as usual, killing terrorists and dealing with domestics challenges and opportunities. President Assad was seen today in many public events in Damascus.” (Canthama)
The title says “russia vows response to air strikes “. Ok so where’s the response? Is the response just delivering a a tongue lashing at the UN SC about illegal air strikes? Really? Making a threat and then not following thru is bad foreign policy.
It’s true that USUK&F looked pretty stupid when all their “advanced” “Storm Shadow” missiles (wooo! I’m so impressed with clunky British technology!) aimed at high value targets in Syria were shot down by 2nd gen Syrian air defense batteries (the remaining 31 were allowed to hit low value abandoned buildings in farmland), but Russia doesn’t lose credibility when their officials make threats of “responses” and then they appear to do nothing. Wouldn’t it have been wiser to not make the threats in the first place?
