Lavrov and UN Secretary-General Guterres hold a joint news conference following bilateral talks in Moscow on Tuesday, April 26.
As is usual, the transcript will follow when available.
I loved it when Guterres stated, “the fact is there are no Ukrainian troops in Russia, but there are Russian troops in Ukraine.” To which Lavrov replies, “this fact I can verify.”
Does Mr Guterres know how many countries have US troops in them? Must be around 50-100.
Why doesn’t he care about that? Especially countries like Iraq and Syria – violently occupied after an unprovoked invasion.
Or the secret torture chambers? Or the prisoners held without trial, or those assassinated by drones?
Guterres is clearly a tool of the EU/US establishment.
Al Jazeera reports 750 U.S. bases in 80 different countries. I’ll bet that even our military leaders can’t give an precise count.
That has given me the best laugh for a long time. What a star Lavrov is. He is a giant amongst his peers. Gutters? (Sorry I meant Guttieres). An imbecile. Ignorant bought by the USA and clearly unfit to be Head of the UN.
Yes, it’s called winning.
I anyways knew the UN is just a facade of civility upon which the western empire hides behind… but man, the lack of tact is getting painful to watch.
I’m glad Lavrov is having fun lol.
could not listen to the vomit inducing death merchants pretending to be ‘good guys’
I am sure I didnt miss a fargin thing
You are right, it was about a minute of listening to this evil, double-faced MF, I had the reaction.
United Nations is death. Was never fair but nowadays is a extension of US.
European countries became protectorate.
We should stop talking about G7 as 7 countries or as NATO as a alliance.
They are one block, lead from Washington, the rest only vassals.
Such a pathetic end for countries like Spain, Japan, France, Germany, or Italy.
Countries that in different moment of history lead the culture of their epoch, that opposed the anglosaxon dominion, now submissives as prostitutes for some dollars.
No, but they do say ignorance is bliss! You’re never wrong….. judge jury and executioner!
Or lead like a sheep…… your pick!
Ecactly my thoughts and feelings…swamp crocodiles trying to pretend they are innocuous turtles, circcling sharks pretending to be friendly dolphins. Benjamin fulford has had it as well: https://m.beforeitsnews.com/prophecy/2022/04/new-benjamin-fulford-final-warning-head-of-the-octopus-2530072.html
Supposedly, he Gutteres suggested to Putin kind of Dayton 2.0 agreement.
Hope it does not fool Putin when it comes disguised as nice agreement for russia
Very unsatisfactory and disappointing PC by the UN Sec Gen. Guterres speaks more like the Sec Gen of the EU rather than the UN; in fact he’s no different from the many representatives of Nato countries who’d made visits to Moscow since early this year.
His opening remarks would have been better addressed to the Ukraine than to Russia.
Talks of pandemics but makes no mention of biological labs — and with it potential pandemics affecting the planet, not to mention disregard of UN conventions — in the Ukraine which Russia brought the attention of the UNSC (kudos to the Indian reporter who asked questions about this.) Even then he glosses over the issue in his answer.
To Guterres the Ukrainian crisis only started on 24 February 2022. He does not show that he gets Russia’s position at all. I get the impression that he only came to beg for a ceasefire. Sergey Lavrov could have spent his time more productively. This meeting is a complete waste of his precious time.
Unfortunately that is a large part of Lavrov’s job – talking to idiots and scoundrels. I’m sure he’s used to it by now.
Есть такая работа с дебилами разговаривать
Есть такая работа с дебилами разговаривать
Machine Translation: “It’s hard work talking to morons”.
Lavrov certainly earns his living.
Off topic, but IMHO a worth while mention to those who are interested. Kim Iversen from The Hill has done several good pieces on the Ukraine situation, even topics or people she does not agree with. She is well researched, brings topics into the conversation that would otherwise not be covered by the MSM in a very balanced manner. Her conversation partners on The Hill are often fumbling for words but at least she puts it out there so that it gets a mention and she also raises questions others do not dare ask. Maybe pay a little more attention to her… This is from yesterday.
Kim Iversen: DISAPPEARED Journalist, Gonzalo Lira, Captured By Ukrainian Forces Found ALIVE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1MpQ5pPVyA
Do you understand the topic here? It is a joint press conference between Lavrov and Guterres.
But here is Lira’s last work on MoonofAlabama: https://www.moonofalabama.org/2022/04/a-recap-of-the-war-in-ukraine-by-gonzalo-lira.html#more
And this is not an invitation for everyone that wants to rage against Lira to climb in.
Let us stop this line of commenting please. Go put these things in the open thread.
Kim Iversen is a corporate shill who very much supports the structure of the MIC; her attack on Tulsia Gabbard was obvious and opportunistic. After Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti were fired from that show its viewership imploded, and its producers looked for a new ‘independent” to help save it from the dustbin of history. Enter Ms. Iversen, a former employee of the radio industry turned podcaster, who began changing her politics to fit those of her new masters. She was always on the fringes of the alt media to begin with – attractive but not really that intelligent – and now she fits in wonderfully with the rest of the maintstream media. A typical hanger-on in the style of Zelensky, who in the early days she praised as the second-coming. She is someone very much to be avoided.

Guterrez’ most important statement to Lavrov was erased from the record. It went something like this: “I know that you know, Sergey Victorovich, that I am a lowly little rat of no account even among my murine community. I know that you know that I have to run on the little spinning wheel inside my cage because otherwise not only will be be deprived of my cheese ration but I may even be done away with. In light if this, Please, Sergey Victorovich, please, disregard everything I am about to recite, just suffer the performance of my little theater act and then I’ll depart.”
great little piece of irony.
congrats
ariadna; Many thanks for the humorous wit. I needed that in this very frustrating situation…but that is the unspoken reality.
This is confirmation that the U.N. is dead in the water, just like the League of Nations, which was dissolved in 1946. Time to let go of all these dodgy, corrupt Western-backed/biased organisations (including the OSCE).
The UNO first steps were a foretaste: a staged “police action” in the Korean peninsula that was escalated to total war by US Army General Douglas Strangelove MacArthur, complete with carpet-bombing of the North and machine -gunning of entire columns of unarmed fleeing civilians in order to curtail infiltration of spies and soldiers behind UN lines; allowing the defacto partition of Palestine, with the fig leaf of a rigged General Assembly resolution, and keeping Palestinians displaced a few kilometers by organized military terror concentrated in camps, instead of immediately returning them home. Lavrov and Putin stand for reforming the UN, with or without its hollow facade in New York and Geneva, into a forum of equally sovereign nations, NOT an embryonic world government.
Listening to Sergey Lavrov and UN Secretary-General Guterres following their private meeting I couldn’t help notice that the desperation of Guterres was palpable as he begged for “peace.” On whose terms? The UN’s ?
The UN’s American masters
( of the UN-iverse )?
Mr Lavrov made it abundantly clear the road to perdition was formed and well trodden by the US and it’s minions, who continue to travel down this road to their own destruction.
They have no other way The UN Secretary-General is guilty of disingenuous platitudes which serve to reinforce the decades of lies and broken promises of his Western masters.
If only all the western big tech media could be bought and owned by “free speech” advocate Elon Musk, like his purchase today of Twitter, there might be a brief window of non-censorship to ram home the message “Russia will not be intimidated by the west as the process of the transfer of power from a unipolar western dominated world to a multipolar world with Russia and China as economically superior but not imposing their will at the expense of other people in other sovereign countries.”
Musk buying twitter might be big enough of a step. Donald Trump was elected in 2016 because of free speech on the internet, and the public square of the internet is twitter. Legacy television media can’t compete with internet media. Take for example CNN+. CNN+ failed when only 10,000 people signed up, and it cost hundreds of millions of dollars. I don’t know the size of the audience for this website, but I don’t think 10,000 regular viewers is unreasonable, and this website did not take hundreds of millions to start and does not take hundreds of millions to run. Legacy media was losing an asymmetric battle on the internet before discourse was simply shut down to slow the process of losing and re-opening twitter resumes that losing battle
Diplomacy with the west is a complete waste of time. Anything lavrov says will either be ignored or twisted to make Russia look bad.
Diplomacy with the West is like…
— dancing with a paraplegic?
— speaking to a deaf-mute?
— being polite with a lying, thieving, murderous thug?
— all of the above?
Or – as president Putin stated: “It is like playing chess with a pigeon. It struts around and knocks over the pieces, then it shits all over the board, then it flies away, declaring that it has won!”
Please don’t compare my statements with president Putin’s.
Mine were similes, metaphors if you wish. They required imagination.
President Putin, on the other hand, made no such effort. He merely gave a simple, precise description of his personal experience and observation.
Lavrov is great. Love the guy. He’s the diplomatic face of Russia. Charismatic.
It would be a sad day without him.
If Guterres doesn’t know the truth of the past 8 yrs (yes, impossible), can Lavrov explain the truth, and change Guterres’s actions. Or is he such a puppet that the whole show is a waste time?
Meanwhile it looks like Nato and the Reich plan to open another front in Transnistria, possible Polish Romanian intervention,i hope Russia has a plan.
Off topic but I must ask:
How come the Saker has not included any video of the Easter celebrations in Russia this year, including Pres. Putin’s attendance?
I looked for it and it is nowhere to be seen, not even in the News section of Orthodox History.
Also, April 25 was St George’s feast– the patron saint of Russia and the protector of warriors defending the Motherland and the faith.
I commend the Russian embassy here, where I live, who responded very nicely to the Easter good wishes we sent them:

Muchas gracias por su carta y las felicitaciones. Apreciamos su actitud positiva hacia Rusia y nuestra Embajada. Por nuestra parte le deseamos buena salud, bienestar y harmonía en diferentes esferas de la vida.
that’s sweet. ;)
“Me” is singular. “I address myself to you…” Must be a big shot there, nice message.

Please take off-topic conversation to the MFC. -The Mod.
1. What is MFC? Maybe having an Open Thread every day could handle the “side flow”
2. No, not a big shot, a perfectly ordinary citizen, except for the distinction of being my friend…. and having Spanish as his mother tongue (unlike me). The reply shows that the embassy staff are real Russians, polite and well mannered and you don’t have to be a big shot to get a reply.

MFC = Moveable Feast Cafe. (OT is fine too.)
Pleeeeze – stay on topic. Any further off-topic discussion here will be binned to the Saker. (Even if it is our fave sarci.) -The Mod.
Evidently, this UN general secretary is a hired employee of the WEF globalists. He gets his dollars – transferred into his account – every time he makes a smart comment that promotes the neo-liberal world order. Too Bad.
Today the British gave the Ukies permission to use British weapons to strike inside Russia. Maybe Lavrov should explain that Russia can strike inside Britain with Russian weapons.I know Russia doesn’t want to go to war with NATO.But they are quickly leaving Russia no choice but to strike them.
It is interesting how many westerners want to talk with Lavrov NOW.
Unfortunately for them Those same guys ghosted Lavrov for years while he tried to talk with them.
They wil get second chance as soon Shoigu is done with his part.
I cannot discount the moment. This was a very serious event. The war in Ukraine is escalating and Sec. Guterres knows this. It is why he is there in Moscow. There is no higher platform on which to make discussions right now so, I think we are at some inflection point, so to speak. Most of what Guterres said in the news conference was to be expected but, the one reference to the US was a bit of a surprize to me. It was a picture of two friends, working professionally in a situation that is almost beyond hope.
I am sad about it, because it points to things getting quite a lot more bloody, given the new escalations of recent days. Personally, I am not one of those who griped about Russian not sending the ´whole horde´ in at the drop of the hat. I always kept one eye on that and am consistantly more convinced as things unfold that the other troops, many or them, were already targeted in directions other than Ukraine, merely awaiting circumstances to arrive. Transnistria is now stepping out of the shadows. That will not only turn things upside down, it will leave everything strewn in the street. If Russia could land near Kiev on the fly, when the AFU was at it´s strongest, than dropping serious forces in Transnistria now would be a relative dunk shot. (Some MFers just don´t learn).
My take, a good day to all.
America stirs the pot, a feeble attempt to get polish peace keepers into Odessa, american officers in polish uniforms!
That will not happen, the sas teams will be neutered before Russia allows that to happen!
John, your take is well considered. The timing between Guterres’ visit (as head of the “International Community”) and the opening of this new front is indeed a symbolic inflection point. NATO is getting ready to officially wade in. Lloyd Austin in Poland also let the cat out of the bag when he said the US intention was to degrade Russia through this war.
Yes, this was predictable and Russian MoD is opening contingency envelopes as I type. Even the excuse of “seizing the largest ammo dump in Europe” in Transnistria is lame. The objective was always to expand this to Europe.. The Hegemon desperately needs many points throughout Europe to be under missile strikes to deflect from the criminal hunger, cold, deprivation and health crisis which rapidly looms. So Moldova, Romania today, more fronts tomorrow.. There is no other game plan from Zone A. The clock is also ticking for Poland now that it has decided to not pay gas in Rubles; hope springs eternal among the drugged deluded – perhaps they plan to enjoy free Russian gas in the Autumn?!
Moldova does hold a slight card and may be a [speed-bump] barrier to expansion in that direction. Romania has designs on it, having owned that territory in the past. Moldova has not sanctioned Russia to date and its population is against war. But neutrality is not permitted by AZE. Will it throw in with Russia to save itself? That is its current hope to escape being pulled in..
The Lilliputians clearly are maneuvering to tie down the Russian Gulliver through multiple fronts and a group swarm through the East European limitrophes. Good luck with that Looney Tunes!
The problem is not merely that they are insane, but ahistorical. Russians have been capable of multitasking and waging simultaneous campaigns on different fronts since before the USA republic was born. It will neither distract from the grind going on in the Donbas nor the overall war aims of demilitarization and denazification of NATO itself. They will merely provide more fat Smoothiean targets. Spreading the war to NATO Romania will not deter Russia. It will only incinerate Romania. And if they were involved in the Moskva incident, seeing how close the ship was to Romania, imagine the motivation and scores waiting to be kept now.
So another achievement by the crazed Hegemon of this move onto Transnistria is to solidify Russian intentions, as voiced recently by General Rustam Minnekaev, to build a land bridge to Transnistria and to deprive UkroNazis of any Black Sea coast.
The timing of Gutteres visit is because he asked for a humanitarian corridor out of the Avostal plant with most likely UN peacekeepers. The timing is correct and supplies running low.
The UN peacekeepers will be American, British ,French etc.. so that they can hide the besieged from sight. That is his main reason for going to Russia, and to delay the upcoming missiles on the Donbass,so that his US boss can somehow get some some heavy equipment to their trained fighters. That is a lost cause. He did not get it.
The United Nations is under the complete control of Zion America and it bothers me why Russia and China don’t just leave it. It pays lip service to the genocide in Palestine, sanctions Iran and only has peacekeepers in countries that USA allows. It is the replacement for the league of nations.
In regards to some saying that NATO will expand the war,let me point out some facts. This designed war was always about degrading Russia via the Ukraine army( better than anything in EU), and launch a financial and sanctions war against Russia. There was also a serious push for regime change in Russia, which shows how ignorant and stupid America is. You have absolutely no idea of world history and that bull s..t they teach you is only for domestic consumption.
The financial war and sanctions is lost to the detriment of the west, and so more armaments , but to where? Small shipments via ambulances etc. Do not matter. There will be no escalation from other NATO countries for (I believe), that Russia can effectively destroy all of Europe and great Britain with conventional missiles alone. Everything you hear is bluster.
The Zionist Jew Blinken said: “we have no reason to believe that China is helping Russia, but we are closely monitoring the situation”. Why are all these Jews always bullying and threatening? It’s because they own you,but not me.
Russia and China together can stop all trade to Europe and effectively put them back into the dark ages.
There is absolutely nothing that USA/ NATO can do to Russia, except spin every loss into a win.
P.S. After Eastern Ukraine falls, they might now ask for a settlement and claim that they saved the West, but they would have to build it back. But how can they build when all they know to do is bomb? Gazprom stopped gas into Poland, so the Poles can now burn firewood. Who is next?
Please get your facts right – Gazprom has stated this is untrue. The unfriendly countries refused to pay in Rubles for their gas. They suffer the consequences. Mod.
I quoted ria.novosti regarding the gasprom statement and I now see that it has been removed. It now seems that on that same site, Putin has allowed Gutteres to send the red cross in to evacuate whatever. It might be civilians down there or they might none. This alone will tell me many things.
Once again – please put a link to back up your statement about the red cross. Mod.
As much as I have always admired Putin for taking back Russia from the evil hands of the west, I always saw a leaning towards the West. It is a fatal mistake for you can clearly see the hatred the west has towards Russia.
Is that why China sits on the fence, making money out of the racist west, or is it because Russia is not to be trusted? Between the two, there is a very great chance of bringing down North America and Europe for the sake of the rest of the world.
I meant every word I said about the UN being an instrument of the USA and that is a fact. A few have argued for Russia getting more tough, and bombing the hell out of them, but now I agree. What is the use of negotiations, when even before Feb 24, it led nowhere? It was never meant to go anywhere.
It is there on ria novosti and now Gazprom stopping gas to Bulgaria and Poland as I quoted before. I do not know how to link pages or anything. I only seek the Truth.
In my humble opinion, nothing Lavrov and Guterrez do or say will change the collision course that has been set by the AngloZionist sphere. The cards are already laid and it will be up to Russia once again to cleanse, this time the world, of the disastrous ideology of exceptionality. Maria Zakharova said it unambiguously a few moments ago when responding to a statement by the United Kingdom Secretary of State for the Armed Forces in support of kyiv’s attacks on Russian territory “We correctly understand that, in order to disrupt the logistics of military supplies, Russia can attack military targets in the NATO countries that supply arms to kyiv” May God catch us confessed.
Thank you for the Zakharova quote. Nice that she put it so clearly. It has always been obvious, but not to the senders of weapons, no Sir, because they have at the same time been saying that WWIII must be avoided. This means that they did/do not take into account that the war decision is not just up to them. The fact that Russia did not make it this clear before only meant that it was this serious. Lavrov is saying that the risk of a nuclear war is real in this connection (though he did not make this connection explicit). Is Article 5 really sacred and will be enforced? I don’t think so, and to me it is as if anyone who says it doesn’t even know his name. The people who are unaware of even themselves, let me say, become hard to predict on the nuclear issue because they are unready for the real situation pointed to (they don’t even know that “it takes two to tango”).
On the other hand, maybe we don’t know the full range of weapons Russia has, that is, maybe it has more new weapons than the ones it announces and shows to the whole world. The world is in greater danger of a nuclear war than in 1962 or anytime, indeed. It’s no use worrying, but it’s worrisome.
Why were the last questions not answered? A clear cut reply would put a whole new contagion to everything the UN clown had stated so far in the proceedings!
Turkey has closed its airspace to to Russian military and even civilian planes going to Syria!– said Cavasoglu.
Erdogan needs to have his ears and nose clipped.
Interesting. I bet Gutters will be absolutely gushing about Zelensky though.
Normally this UN secretary General mission would be done day one of conflict?
That it is so belated indicates it isn’t going well for a certain side?
Or it is setting the stage for the entrance into the conflict of a certain side?
Or most likely both of the above
Most likely not humanitarian in motive

Ariadna is the Queen of Irony on this venue, bar none. I wish she would post more, her comments are razor blade sharp, and funny. She’s also the Queen of the Thousand Cuts, have to be careful not to double cross her. She would cut your head and show it for the world to see it was empty.
Her irony runs in multiple languages, as per her below posts. A lady of many qualities, it seems.

Thanks, I’ll try not to let it go to my head
@ Ariadna
Not to worry, that would be truly ironic. :-)

White West is a military industrial complex-empire of lies. The truth (?) is getting out of the hegemonic universal narrative of a so-called superior universal reason. And this job is definitely not for amateurs especially when your very existence is at stake.
With video of Lavrov saying, “At war is at war.”
“Russia Is Openly Talking About World War 3 for the First Time”
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-ukraine-warning-world-war-three-lavrov-1700897
The UN is trying to be relevant. The entire war was a planned attempt by the UN flunkies to go along with the WEF, MIC, Banking etc wishes. We all know who the evil is by now. The planned war, like the planned scamdemic and planned man-made global warming mantra is failing. So now they hope to do damage control by pretending to now listen to Russia’s side. Yet the UN and associates are Still Evil, Still Fraudulent. They cannot help themselves. The nature of lies and deceit is in their cultural and psychological DNA.
I can guarantee that any Portuguese that is selected to go to any international instituition position is because they are knee-benders.
I liked it when the Russians rejected the last Guterres Orthodox Easter truce proposal. I felt released because Russians had always proved to be extremely respectful to the UN double faced prostitutes, maybe as a kind of simbolic worship to an institution they still considered half-sacred. I am a 100% positive that Guterres has received tens of millions he hides in a random tax haven trust ( as the rest of the imperial vassal political class, by the way) to act as an American puppet. But no more. Now, it is clear that they are perfectly aware of what king of pervert mafia scumbags they are dealing with. The same thing goes for the OSCE, a de facto terrorist organisation providing the Western secret agencies with military targets.
I sincerely hope that when Lavrov very sadly retires from the world stage (Which I hope is a long way away ) he will write a very humorous book about all the Western imbecile politicians he has had the misfortune to have to do business with. It would be a bestseller!! He is a master of subtle ‘delinquent’ diplomacy to those international politicians who deserve every level of contempt. What a subtle seemingly polite slap down for Gutters!
What was the point of this meeting ?
I fail to see why this visit was allowed and why not just Lavrov but Putin met this clown.
Lately I have indulged on several occasions to proffer my “advice” regarding the Russian-Ukainian conflict as a continuation of an earlier one back in 2014 to the effect that Russia then should have gone the whole hog,but she didn’t.
Few days ago I gave another “advice” to VVP (forgot the gist of it) and was promptly rewarded with a notice that Russia was implementing what I had suggested. (If you are curious about the subject matter you may be able to retrieve the comment; I have forgotten the “trick”).
Yesterday, somewhere, I blew my trumpet again and suggested that VVP should invite impartial foreign observers to assist and witness the evacuation of civilians and surrendering troops from the Azovstal, even naming the Red Cross explicitly.
Guess what? Today comes this piece of news:
https://www.ungeneva.org/en/news-media/news/2022/04/russia-agrees-principle-un-and-red-cross-involvement-evacuations-mariupol
As I said, my “advices” are being taken very seriously! But don’t take my trumpet seriously.
After pressing the “post” button I recalled the other recent suggestion I had “sent” to the Kremlin and was promptly followed by VVP: that Russia set up a prosecutory body to gather all evidence of criminal conduct by the Ukrainian side and the NATO accomplices for a future Nuremberg II court to be held in the Donbass. VVP then made the speech at the General Prosecutor meeting to implement “my advice”.
Mind you, I have no connections/links to the Kremlin, (neither did The Saker pass on my “advices”, I am sure) just coincidences and sensible suggestions. Pity there was not such “coincidence” in 2014…
Did any UN representative make an official trip to Ukraine, during the years, to urge that the Minsk accords be implemented? All the deaths of the people in the Donbas, all the injuries, the hell that was daily unleased on the citizens there… If any such trip was made, I certainly never heard about it.
