Russian Jews would be in serious danger if Russian President Vladimir Putin was ever ousted from power, a senior Russian rabbi has stated. He added, the current government guarantees the safety of Jewish people better than many Western powers do.

“The Jews of Russia must realize the dangers inherent in the possible collapse of the Putin government, understand the rules of the game and be aware of the limitations,” the head of Russian Federation of Jewish Communities Aleksandr Boroda said at an annual Jewish learning event, which was organized by Limmud FSU.
The conference, which saw around 1,400 participants attend, opened on Friday at the state-owned Klyasma resort in the Moscow region.
Boroda mentioned that Putin’s government provides more guaranteed support for the Jews than those in Europe and the US, adding that Russian religious institutions are better protected against anti-Semitism, while other countries don’t provide enough security.
“In Russia, there is virtually unlimited freedom of religion and the Jewish community must ensure this situation continues,” Boroda said. “We do not have the privilege of losing what we have achieved and the support of the government for the community.”
All Russian Jews, especially those who oppose Putin and his administration “must understand the grave dangers that they take upon themselves and the potential consequences,” he added.
Such support of the current Russian government provoked a wave of criticism among liberal Jews and Jews from Ukraine. They accuse Moscow of infringing upon civil liberties and fueling the crisis in Ukraine.
The Russian Federation of Jewish Communities also praised President Putin’s contribution in helping to re-consolidate the Russian Jewish community, which consists of at least 350,000 people.
The acting government has supported the renovation of dozens of synagogues and funded the establishment of a large Jewish museum in Moscow.
Who is Putin protecting Russian jews from? If the russians are planning progroms, could we see the proof. Otherwise this just look the usual whining from the self appointed chosen ones

Russia is a complex society and Jewish Russians deserve their place. It is good for Russia to protect all Nationalities and groups who work for the nation.
Putin understands this, just as he understood the Orthodox Church had to have a rightful place central to the government reform and national development.
One could take such stuff more seriously if almost all of the liberal opposition in Russia itself – the 5th column Putin talks about – was not fully jewish or of jewish origin.
But they are and even jewish media admits to it.

Also, the coup in the Ukraine was spearheaded by Jewish neocon Victoria Nuland and it’s well known how influential Jews are in the new junta government. Furthermore, Jewish leaders in Crimea and Ukraine were hostile to Putin and Russia’s moves as recorded in much of their own media.

One of the major reasons Russia is being targeted is bc of its foreign policy which displeases Israel and its supporters(organized jewry in the diaspora) and the crackdown on the oligarchs plus Russia’s moves alway from ‘cosmopolitan values'(promoted by jewish diasporas) towards its own culture and traditions.

Okay, just as I feared this post elicits the usual paranoia about Jews.
Guys, I have said that many many times already: the vast majority of Russophobic Jews left in the 1980s and 1990s. Russian Jews *chose* to say, they are dramatically different from the Jews who ran Russia under Eltsin or those found in the USA Neocons. The war in the Ukraine has opened the eyes of many Russians and Jews and there are some pretty good signs of a reconciliation taking place.
Some of the comments here make it sound like Putin is protecting Trotskysts. This is completely misguided. Putin just gave a 2,5 hour long (and very interesting) interview to Vladimir Soloveiv who is very much both a patriot and a Jew and the very fact that this is possible in modern Russia is a huge testimony to the nature of the “new Russia” which is being built before our eyes.
Please don’t let your past experiences and prejudices blind you to the reality of modern Russia!

History has proven in the majority of cases that when it comes down to a choice, it is the rule rather than the exception that the jews will choose the worst of their own infront of the best the gentiles.
The jews in “modern” Russia might be a case in point that will prove to be an outlier, but that would be a pleasant surprise. If the historical record (analysed properly/unbiased – as possibly allowed) has any say and can give any guidance at all, an adequate analysis of past events might prove a good guide for the future – but not necessarily so.
The historical records of the jewish society in Al-Andalus was a fairly positive one as far as the collection of the current records reveal. Maybe “modern” Russia is the birth place for a similar “positive” interaction between the faiths.
But I defer in expressing excessive hope about until more data come in.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s great work Two Hundred Years Together carefully analyzes the history of Jews in Russia from 1795 to 1995 – and is a must-read! It was published in 2001/2002 in two volumes, in Russian, and you can get it in html format in entirety at http://www.russia-talk.org/cd-history/200-let/ .

So, the second volume, Part Two (Chapters 13 – 27) that covers the entire Soviet period is all translated, with the single exception of Chapter 15 on Jews among the Bolsheviks. David, I’m not sure it’s naivete nor stupidity.
It’s possibly just a lack of backbone and the dreaded political correctness, much like in the West. Besides, being perceived as ‘anti-semite’ is worse than being a pedophile and the negative propaganda it generates against individuals, organizations or countries is too much to bear. This in turn, creates the curious situation of different camps trying to appear the most protective of the Jewish communities and their interests.

The declarations of the Chief Rabbi are the first admission of the paramount role of the tribe in all the “events” in Ukraine and of their ultimate goals. It might be a warning: stop it or you will suffer the consequences. Russians did not forget who killed them by millions and promise to do it again!
Russian Jews should be send to Israel. As long as Jews are within Russia borders there will always be a revolution on the table. And Russian should be aware of who’s who
