Dear friends,
Yesterday evening I have finally come back from my week long trip to Switzerland where I barely had the time to bury my mother and go clean up her small apartment. This was probably one of the worst weeks in my life and I wanted to begin by thanking all those of you who have expressed their sympathy for the loss of my mother. Your outpouring of kindness really did touch me even if I simply did not have the time to thank you for it.
I am still jet-lagged and sick with a cold, but there has been a nasty matter which life has dumped upon me which I want to deal with right now before a resume normal blogging (which I scheduled for next Monday, December 7th): the fact that two dishonorable people decided to post the following text on the Internet: (source: http://cirilizovano.blogspot.rs/2015/11/who-is-saker.html)
Who is the Saker?
Almost a year ago to the day, I had the distinct displeasure of meeting the man who calls himself the Saker. Our professional relationship lasted less than a month, for reasons I will outline below. We parted on rancid terms and I swore to him that I would make his identity and ideological shortcomings public. I have waited until now due to milestone events in my own life and because, frankly, I was waiting to see what the loon would come up with next.
As of the end of last year, I had been following the Saker blog for several years to get news of events in Donbass and when I learned he was looking for volunteers for a Serbian sister site, I applied for the job. My original idea was to contribute some translations on an ad hoc basis but Saker had just had a major falling out with the whole Serbian team and sacked the previous team leader, Aleksandar Jovanovic. He described Mr. Jovanovic as ,,a talented translator with paranoid psychotic tendencies”. I didn’t delve too deeply into the dispute at the time (my mistake!) but later I did discover Mr. Jovanovic was quite sane, and rather a nice guy.
Anyway, after a drawing of straws among the few new Serbian volunteers, like myself, Saker himself put me forward as the new leader of the Serbian sister site. He attributed this to our common respect for traditional Slavic values, like respect for the Orthodox church and the military, plus the fact that we communicated well. I think he was also a bit influenced by the fact that I live in Argentina (not far from a cousin of his, actually), that he has family here and some fond childhood memories of holidays with them among the Russian expat community, of which I am an ardent admirer and (to the extent circumstances allow) a fleeting member.
Andrei (for by then we were on a first name basis) encouraged me to form a properly Serbian team and I promptly solicited the assistance of everyone and anyone toward that end. He promised me complete editorial freedom, which I understood to mean that all contributors, myself included, could make the points they felt were most relevant. I was convinced at this time that he was my brother Russian, and this was reenforced during the defection during this period of his French IT guru (who, I discovered subsequently, was also a very nice guy) and the threat of collapse of the entire so-called “Saker community”. At one point (as God is my witness) Andrei was begging me to assume legal ownership of all the domains in the Saker community, which had been left in limbo by Francois. I declined (for technical reasons) and it was then that my husband suggested that the Saker switch to Icelandic servers (where he is currently) to protect the integrity of his sites. You’re welcome, Andrei.
In the meanwhile, the Charlie Hebdo massacre occurred in Paris – a bunch of Muslim fundamentalists strifing the editors and staff of the “tasteless” satirical French paper, and other locales frequented by the Jewish community. For me, taste is primarily a question of education and culture; whereas freedom of speech (and editorial license) is something altogether different, supposedly one of the rights guaranteed by so-called “democracy”. Anyway, the French Saker community broke into two parts – the “I am Charlie” and “I am not Charlie” (and this had nothing to do with the withdrawal of Francois, the IT maestro, although Andrei tried to pretend this was the case). Andrei himself wrote an absolutely repulsive piece entitled “Why I am not Charlie” basically blaming the French paper for lack of refinement (a satirical paper!) and arguing that they had brought the wrath of the followers of Mohammed upon themselves because ,,they chose to provoke Islam, knowing the results this would engender”.
Faithful Serbian follower that I was of my Russian brother Andrei, I translated his article into Serbian but was most unhappy with it. By opportune chance, through a mutual friend, I chanced upon an article by the talented Serbian expat writer Aleksandar Lambros, in which he lambasts (no pun intended) the idiots who were not ,,seeing the connection” between Islamic fundamentalism and the Charlie Hebdo massacre. I have little in common with Mr. Lambros, aside from an admiration for his writing style and intellectual integrity, but I was happy to translate his Serbian into English in order to achieve a sense of balance with respect to Charlie Hebdo. Being neither Charlie nor prepared to massacre satirical staff, I was somewhat in a quandry.
I was gently (and I do emphasize ~ gently ~) reprimanded by my “brother Russian” that although I had complete editorial freedom, this did not extend as far as insulting members of the Muslim community (as the article of Aleksandar Lambros apparently did). I told him (most ungraciously, I admit) to go fuck himself and who was he, after all, to explain to a Serb, 600 years under the Ottoman yoke, the situation with Muslims? His response was that “all Serbs are crazy” (meaning me and Aleksandar Jovanovic, I guess) and that I just didn’t see he was properly respectful of Islam (whose teachings he openly compares with the teachings of the Holy Fathers of the Christian Church) ,,just like Putin admires and respects Kadhyrov”.
The Grand Strategist he is not. I did my research on Andrei Raevsky aka the Saker ex post facto and determined that he was a Swiss citizen who had already some difficulties with the Russians with respect to Chechnya. By his own admission, he was sent there as an employee of the International Red Cross and subsequently fired for his pro-Chechen bias. He later went on record in several published works as being critical of the Russian Army’s “heavy-handed approach” towards the Chechen terrorists.
He was then apparently hired on by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) out of Geneva, which sent him on several tours to ex-Yugoslavia, specifically, he claims to have been involved in “disarmament negotiations” (which can only have been detrimental to the local Serbs) in Croatia and Bosnia. Having thus cemented his friendship with the Serbs, he immigrated to the USA and underwent further grooming at the Paul H. Nitzke School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, the happy hunting ground of the likes of Madeleine Albright, Condoleeza Rice. He now lives on the Atlantic coast of the state of Florida within a stone’s throw of some 30 military installations who have no problems with his primary activities: broadcasting war against the phantom “Anglo-Zionist empire” (in the cartoon where the Western sponsored ISIL are the good guys) and soliciting donations from his (chiefly left-leaning) supporters in exchange for kitschy wallets imprinted with the Saker image, and autographed copies of his book. Like any good apologist for Islam, Raevsky is also a rabid anti-Semite.
I still believe Russians are our brothers but I don’t believe that Andrei Raevsky is one of them. He is a hybrid, a GMO if you will, of Russian soul fertilized by select Western ideology. It cannot thrive, it should not multiply. It will perish.
For those who you who might not recall who Mrs Berthet is – she was the (short-lived) Serbian Saker Team Leader #2 (if I recall corrected). As for Mr Jovanovic, he held the same position right before her. To make a long story short, soon after Mrs Berthet took over she, indeed, posted an article I judged to be insulting to Islam and I asked her to avoid doing so in the future. Just for the record: each Saker Blog Team is, indeed, 100% independent in its editorial policy, but I always assumed that mentally same people would understand that this meant “within a minimal core number of values” including the respect for, if not endorsement of, any religion (this was never an issue with any other Saker Blog, even those run by agnostics – at least 3 by my count – but somehow became one with putatively “Orthodox” folks. Go figure). Anyway, at this point Mrs Berthet offered to resign which I gladly agreed to. I posted a notice on the blog saying that “The Serbian Saker blog has been purged of most of its data by the (now ex-) Serbian Saker blog Team leader following my opposition to the publication of a viciously anti-Muslim article. Mentaly sane Serbian friends are currently trying to re-start the blog.“
That short post elicited a truly fantastic reaction. Mrs Berthet send me an email which began with “saker, you lying, thieving, manipulating piece of human shit” and ended with “ultimately, you will be as sorry you crossed paths with me, as i am to have crossed paths with you, and this is NOT a joke or a threat. i hope you choke on your own vomit, VERMIN!“. Anybody interested in the full text can get it by clicking here. In 50 years of life I had never come across such an absolutely rabid expression of total, uncontrolled rage and I immediately understood that if I had, indeed, thought that Jovanovic was “insane” it was solely in the colloquial matter of the use of this expression, like “crazy dude”, but that Mrs Berthet was truly either truly mentally deranged, or possessed, or both.
Since I never respond to slander on principle and since I never engaged with mentally insane individuals, I did not reply and simply put a block on Mrs Berthet’s email address. As for the addressees of that email (I should add here that she sent that wonderful opus not only to me, but to pretty much every person she knew in the Saker community and everybody in the Serbian Saker Blog Team), they responded with a unanimous expression of disgust, especially the Serbs who were embarrassed to see a fellow Serb act in such a manner.
At this point, I had mistakenly concluded that with this exchange of pleasantries I was done with the crazy woman. Alas, I was very mistaken.
A few months later I got an email from her husband, whose full name I do not recall but whose email address indicated that he was the author of an anti-imperialist blog. Since I (vaguely) recall Mrs Berthet asking me not to make their association with this blog public I shall not reveal more details about this. Anway – Mr Berthet was writing to, believe it or not, blackmail me.
He entitled his email “if the Saker explodes it will fall on Andrei”. He then proceeded to tell me that unless I posted a note explaining that my trust in his wife was “well placed” and that she had not “participated in an attack against the blog” then that would prove my duplicity! He concluded that this was not a threat, but a wise warning. I could not believe my eyes, the man wanted me to prove my non-duplicity by lying to my readers about his wife and saying that my trust in her was well-placed and he was threatening to, precisely, betray my trust and reveal my identity :-)
Anyway, I told him that if he went ahead with this threat the moniker of “Judas” would stick to him and his wife forever (they have now apparently decided to earn it).
At this point, I need to explain a few things about my anonymity.
[Sidebar: I used to refer to my anonymity as “thin anonymity” because anybody with a little bit of brains reading my blog could have easily located me with the info I had already given out. I just got an email from a good friend whom I only had given only my first name and who now told me that he knew my full ID already for long time :-) This is how decent people are: respectful of privacy and boundaries]
Please remember that when I started my blog in 2007 I was a ‘nobody’ who was writing mainly for himself. I had exiled myself in Florida after leaving Switzerland where I had, indeed, been blacklisted for my pro-Serbian and pro-Russian views. I decided to create an anonymous blog for the following reasons:
- I wanted my former employers to forget about me
- I wanted to write about issues, not personalities
- I wanted my family to enjoy its full anonymity
I started the blog in 2007. We are now in the last days 2015. My former employers don’t even exist anymore. The 3 letter organizations I worked for have been disbanded and my former bosses are either dead of old age or retired. So reason one is now gone.
I still want to write about issues, not me or my past. So reason two is still current.
I still want my family to be safe and left in peace, but reason three is now compromised.
Which is really no big deal. After I got Brethet’s letter of blackmail, I wrote to the Saker Community Executive Committee (SCEC) members and asked for their advice: shall I go public or not? Their advice was to wait.
I should mention one more thing here: I always wanted to act like modern homosexuals and “come out of the closet” one day. I told my wife that this would be my “coming out” day and I tentatively scheduled it on May 1st, 2017 – on the 10th anniversary of the blog. But now that the crazies have gone ahead and violated my trust, my anonymity and my privacy, I am not exactly sure as to how to proceed.
So here is where I need you advice and opinion:
Initially, I thought that I had three options.
First, I considered simply ignoring it all. But it turns out that the crazies are now busy posting links to their little article elsewhere. For example, I was recently interviewed by Sputnik (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20151201/1031060730/turkey-war-russia-crimea-caucasus-central-asia-daesh.html) and a friend informed me that Mr Jovanovic had already posted this in the comments section:
Sputnik, by the way, apparently removed that comment (since I cannot find it any more). Still, this is ridiculous – honorable moderators will now have to look for these types of comments and remove them one by one? This is silly, no? (Note: my mistake – I did find the comment on Sputnik – the Saker)
Also, don’t underestimate the staying power of Berthet and Jovanovic. Not only do they get to wage their little anti-Saker crusade, but they also get to re-direct traffic towards their otherwise irrelevant blogs! So they will have a drive, a determination, to continue their “Saker denunciation” crusade long for a very long time. In fact, I predict that their next step will be to simply fabricate more pseudo-revelations about me with even less truth to them and this latest one.
My personal preference would be to “flush my mental toilet” and forget about these clowns, but they will do their utmost to keep themselves relevant for as long as they can, so that is not an option anymore.
Then, finally, there is also this consideration: besides lying about quite a few things in her post, Brethet got a lot of things simply wrong. Yes, my name is Andrei Raevsky, and the photo is me (cross-country mountain biking in Florida) but much of the rest is plain wrong, especially the chronology. There is also a lot missing ;-)
So I see two options, really, but I want you to decide:
OPTION A:
I stick to my plan. I make my official “coming out” from my “closet” in 2017 where I write a painfully narcissistic post – all about myself – and I tell you the full story with details and all. In the meantime, we let the two idiots wait for the collapse of the Saker community (they don’t realize that many/most of the members of that community already know my identity which, to put it mildly, I have not been shy about revealing) and continue to post links to their “Saker denunciation posts”. But what we can do is *pretend* that they don’t exist, that for us they are beneath our “contempt radar”. I like that option because it gives them less power and it allows me to stick to the “coming out” date I had planned. Or
OPTION B:
I say it all now. The big advantage of this option is that I can set the record strait now. Take for example the self-evidently idiotic assertion that I was fired from the ICRC for my “pro-Chechen” bias! Anybody who knows anything about ICRC or the rest of them western “humanitarian” organizations would realize that this is quite impossible and that, if anything, it could have been my pro-Russian bias which could have gotten me fired (in this case it was neither, but something I will never publicly discuss no matter what, since it involves the death of a group of innocent people). Their hatred for me clearly clouts their judgment so I expect Jovanovic and Berthet to get many other things wrong. So, shall I bother to set the record straight already now?
You can tell where I am leaning, of course (if you don’t – it’s “A”). Frankly, I don’t feel like “giving chase” to every bit of bullshit these two clowns will post in the future. To deal with dishonorable people always gives me the desire to take a shower and try to forget them as soon as I can. Then there is the fact that this blog is about issues, about resisting the Empire, not about “saying the truth about the Saker”. After all, WHO CARES who I really am or what I really did or did not do? I don’t want to reciprocate to these two crazies and act as if my ego and ruffled feathers (for a Saker – perfect expression, no?) are at the center of the universe and as if everybody should care?
I think that one self-centered and narcissistic post in May 2017 is plenty enough and that between today’s post (which I had to make) and 2017 I can focus on other, much more important and interesting issues.
Bottom line: my personal preference is definitely for “option A”: we all pretend like this all never happened and we just ignore the ugly actions of two dishonorable individuals. But, and this is really important, I want this to be your decision, not mine. After all, you have all, in various manners, trusted me and I now feel that if you do have questions about the allegations made, I should provide them. Besides, I really have never had anything to hide. Right now my biggest regret is that the security and privacy of my family: a wonderful wife of 22 years of marriage whom I admire, respect and love more with each day God granted me to spend with her and three children, a daughter and two boys – all teenagers. They are really the ones whom Berthet and Jovanovic have potentially hurt most. But I also can take care and protect them, and I trust in God’s mercy. But on a strictly personal level, I really don’t care about my privacy being compromised (in many ways, this makes things simpler as this is one less thing to worry about).
So, if you, my friends, want me to basically write up a short bio then I will gladly do it. Just let me know, okay?
My request to you is this:
1) please let me know who you want me to proceed from now on; let me know if you have any questions you want me to answer and share your views, comments and reactions to my explanations above.
2) Vote (in the comments section) by posting “option A” or “option B”.
3) Any other ideas are welcome.
As for me, I ask for your indulgence and understanding. I will restart the blog in full mode only on Monday. I am tired, jet-lagged and, frankly, rather disgusted with this entire business. I also need to reply to 173 emails which accumulated over just the past week! Finally, I want to take a few days to wash-off my sense of violation and disgust and deal with the loss of my mother.
And since all you got is a crappy photo of my mountain biking in central Florida, I am also leaving you with a photo of me made by my wife in Cedar Key in November 2013. I was celebrating my birthday and I wanted to toast to all those friends whom I missed on this occasion (my wife and I were alone on that day) so we took this photo. Now that my privacy has been compromised and my face is out there anyway, I figured I could show it to you without sunglasses and while toasting to you all – the wonderful and beautiful Saker community and all my friends who will be reading this post. Thank you all for being out there and for being such a source of comfort and support.
Cheers!
Andrei Raevsky aka “The Saker”
PS: a small note to my Serbian friends. Please do not worry about what happened. This is no way says anything about the Serbian people whom I love. We know from the New Testament that there is one traitor for every 12 folks out there and considering that our community has well over 100 actively engaged members, it was to be expected that eventually 2 individuals would be unworthy of our trust. In fact, I am amazed at the opposite: over the past couple of years there have been quite a few members leaving our community (the names of Nora, Gevorg, Francois come to my mind) and none of them ever violated the trust I put in them (for which I am sincerely grateful and I wanted to mention them by name for that). The truth is that more or less everybody I was even in semi-regular contact with knew my name, many I met in person, and a few even stayed at my home. Coming from the military world I knew full well that statistical probabilities were against me and that somebody would inevitably take the role of a “rat” and “snitch me out” but I simply did not care. More importantly, I will not deny my trust to most simply because of the inevitable betrayal of a few. You – my Serbian friends, have always been kind, generous and honorable friends towards me and my fondness and respect for you have not been affected by any of that.
PPS: to those interested in meeting me personally. Now that my anonymity is gone, please drop me an email if you are anywhere near East-Central Florida, I will gladly meet with you. Let’s make something good from something ugly :-)
I vote for A
You can’t do much about such nasty people. Besides that, “setting the record straight” at this point is impossible. They are just starting out and anything you say will just be more ammo for them. They will twist it, dispute it, call you a liar etc etc.
Just stick to your plan.
Saker/Andrei,
It’s hardly my place to tell you how to proceed with this, but since you have directly asked for our opinions, I will say B. The reason for this is simply curiosity from my side – as to which option is “tactically” better, I am clueless. But of course I wouldn’t mind a biography on the enigma of the Saker! And if the choice is between May 2017 (when I may not be around to read it) and today, then I would prefer the latter.
My sincere thoughts to you and your family,
Zuzim
Option B.
If a blog catches my attention I usually check about the author well knowing it might not be the truth I find. Then I check on which other (known) blogs this author is referenced. In your case I had to stick with the second part only. Knowing now what else formed your views would be a bonus. I’ll continue to follow your writings nevertheless and reserve my right to agree or disagree.
Hi Saker
I have been reading your blog for the past 1 year.
This is my first comment, till date.
I say option – A.
And thanks for educating me, and in the process helping me educate others.
Regards
Indian
Option C: F’ ’em
Don’t give in. I don’t think you should ever write a bio. Why? We can see who you are in your words and that’s the part of you that matters to all of us out here in the world.
For you and your family, it’s best if you can keep pseudo-anonymity, even if you can’t remain anonymous. What’s the point of descending to their level and sniping back? Just keep on doing what you do, your words say it all.
Peace from Texas
Dear Saker! Please don’t torture yourself with options. Do as you see fit. People here trust you.
Most importantly, please please please find the time and motivation to tell us your take on what’s going on in Syria and Ukraine. Things are moving so fast – we need your levelheadidness and experience to understand it all pronto!
Dude…your work speaks for itself. Their allegations are mostly just opinion, and the worst of it even if true is hardly unforgivable. The good you do through truth and clear vision renders these accusations immaterial. Take the ‘A’ pill. And thanks for your amazing endeavors
This women is not crazy. Most serb women are like that. My wife, sister, mother and mother-in-law are all like that. ;)
But i have to agree with here about Islam. hundreds of years under the turkish yokel eaving the deep distrust and hatred of the Turks and Islam. I am serb from Bosnia, I have lived with Muslims and my family and relatives have lived with Muslims for hundreds of years and i can tell you that there are many great people who are Muslims but the big problem is that it takes very little for these people turns against you or they do not dare to help you.
That is what is so horrible about Islam. As a muslim you can not turn our backs on your religion and come away unscathed and almost all Muslims know it and they have no choice. If a group of fundamentalists require you to show their loyalty to Islam, do you think you could say no to these people. Do you think if you say no nothing happens.
But there are very many who enjoy being Muslims and have absolutely no problem making many atrocities against anyone who is not Muslim
Option A
Business as usual
its sick that she probably chose this time to write this, she could have waited a week or two but no she wrote it now
Dear Saker
Sorry to all, I have to write this “letter” in Croatian.
Vi imate lijepo i slavno rusko ime Rajevski.
google transl. “You have a beautiful and glorious Russian name Rayevski.
So you even more respect.
As for the “Serbian money,” they have cast aspersions on myself and djelomiccno and the Serbian cause.
My advice is do whatever you want and the goal shall be:
– Not having any means to deal with these “Serbian couple” who are really mad, wicked, selfish and dangerous.
When I was in your place I would choose option number two, that means got out with my life.
It is the best medicine protv misinformation and madman.” (KL)

I find it somewhat baffling that a military analyst like yourself would even need to ask his readers what to do, but will atribute that to psycological trauma and you being an analyst not actually a strategist.
Well maybe this will help, ask yourself ‘what would Putin do?’.
In my estimation he would be honest as you seem to have been, but he would not escalate a situation that is not fully under his control.
Leave it at this, ignore the issue and continue the way you had planned.
Saker,
No need to provide anything. I’m attracted to you to your blog for your analysis on Ukraine & M.East. Let the “Cur Dogs” bark. Just continue what you do best.
Rob
Option A Saker X
Hi Saker,
I think the option mentioned before adding an “About me” on the website will do for any one who is interested in your back ground. A short intro. Nothing more, no emotional explaining. For the rest just leave it behind you. Your analyses, view and information is what we need and very much appreciate.
Don’t feed the trolls.
Like a lot of other people I do not comment very often. But I do translate your articles regularly to spread them to different websites. I am impressed how many people are reacting to your question, although I did not read them all. It is clear your work is highly appreciated. Glad you’re back. Take care.
Dear Saker, comrade Raevski,
I would suggest you take Option B; firstly because you never know what can happen between here and 2017. As with everything in life sometimes you have to postpone, sometimes anticipate; and timing is rarely completely in the hands of an individual, especially if, as in your case, you are engaged in a task related to politics, so certainly a thing of collective nature. Secondly, thinking that we can always chose the right time to fight is both naïve and narcissistic, and you (miraculously for our day and age) are neither, which is why I have communicated with you on a couple of occasions. If the fight comes to us we have to face it right off the bat. Fight it out now and get over with it Andrei, comrade Raevski, Saker.
Brotherly, Robert
Nice post
Saker, i would love to meet you but when you visit Ireland. We live in the beautiful SouthEast of Ireland. My wife, our three children and myself will be proud to have you as a guess in our house. P.s. Of course , we are interested of knowing your past but only when you are ready to tell that past. Brotherly hug, Luis.
Dear Andrei;
Do nothing, you already did (said) more than you had to. Interestingly, when one decides to be vocal one should stand behind their name.
I enjoy thesaker as valid alternative input to current events, thanks for providing some personal background info.

Option B amounts to feeding the trolls. What’s in it for you? Not much as I see it. Any response you could craft to these trolls would represent time and effort diverted from your own positive agenda and onto their negative one.
Other readers have commented that life is too short and right now you must be only too aware of the literal truth of this phrase. Your present opportunity to perform useful work through the blog is precious and should not be squandered.
We don’t need your autobiographical details – who you are in the deeper sense, i.e. the person that you are – is already quite clear from what you write.
That’s why I’m already pretty sure that you will stick with your initial inclination not to be diverted from your work onto pointless interaction with trolls. Kia kaha!
Dear Saker,
Please do not encourage others to set your agenda. Do whatever you have decided to do before.
Your option A seems much better.
People are here to find truth rather than personalities. Compared to life histories of most politicians there can not be a worse one of a private individual.
So please go for “A”.
I favour Option B, Saker, but only a paragraph or two relevant to your background as a political and/ or military commentator. Somewhat like Paul Craig Roberts has at the footer of his articles. The NSA and DIA and whoever already know all about you, of course, and likely me too, for that matter. Nothing we say is likely to be news to them.
I write a sailing and boatbuilding blog, for instance, and have a brief bio in it as pertains to my boating experience. Blog readers don’t need to know my somewhat extensive political interests or musical preferences as it has nothing to do with sailing or boatbuilding.
Similarly, where credentials are relevant, as the writer of a political, economic, and military blog you might briefly list any appropriate credentials as PCR does. But ultimately the proof of the pudding is in the eating, as my Scottish grandmother used to say. It’s not what your bio or critics state that interests me, but rather whether your analysis of events in the post-Soviet geopolitical sphere seem sound based on my own knowledge as a person closely following virtually all aspects of aerospace, naval, economic, and geopolitical events from a Marxist perspective for nearly 60 years, and whether your judgements are borne out as events unfold.
A track record of correct analysis on the Saker blog is your real bio, at least as relevant to your readers. While interesting, we probably don’t need to know whether you think the alligators or the pythons are going to dominate the everglades, but we are interested in your take on the internal power struggles in the Kremlin, and what is likely to happen when Putin retires or gets on the wrong airplane one day. Hopefully not soon.
Dear Saker, I’m for option “B”.
I remember how deeply I was disgusted, when they made “Lord of the Rings” movie and many heroes received a new faces which I didn’t recognize, my imagination saw them completely different way before. And now, I could barely remember, how did I imagined them before movie was released. This is something very similar, once myth is gone, you cannot be stuck in the “halfway public” and even if you try, it will not work. Finally you have face and name, I’m afraid that anybody who could contact you for whatever reason now easily can, so the option “A” has no practical meaning. I’m deeply convinced, that you will even end up with your own file on wikipedia very soon, Andrei Raevsky, no matter if you want to or not. You are the “real” person now, with all disadvantages and benefits coming out of it.
It’s pity, anyway, during that years I’ve reading you blog, I loved that conspiracy myth around The Saker. I wouldn’t dare to search for your identity just to keep the secret.
Now, please, let us know a bit about who Andrei Raevsky is. Story of one’s life sometimes helps understand him better. One thing about A.Raevsky is pretty sure allready- he’s brilliant analyst and will reamain, nevermid his name.
Best regards from central Europe and thank for all your great work,
Ilja
Batchushka, you hurt and it is not good. It interferes with your duties and obligations and they come first.
You have duties and obligations: your Creator, your children, your wife (halfpart of your whole), yourself and your fellow human beings. Talk to your wife, never underestimate her oppinion (I am not saying that you do).
Where in all that do some people who are dissatisfied with you fit? Because they can’t force you to accept their oppinion?! Do you exist to please them? Of course not!
Permit me to quote a hadith of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Allmighty be upon him:
Prophet Muhammad said :”Do you know what backbiting is?” They said, “God and His Messenger know best.” He then said, “It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him, “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of God said, “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him.”
And we should all remember, always: “When man wakes up in the morning each day, all parts of the body warn the tongue saying, ‘Fear God as regards us for we are at your mercy; if you are upright, we will be upright and if you are crooked, we become crooked.’”
Cheer up, man. If you were ever an object of interest of a potentially dangerous party, they knew about you a long time ago.
Keep yourself safe.
option B
When the message cannot be challenged, they attack the messenger.
Telling them about yourself feeds the trolls and leads to an unwelcome distraction, each time your message cannot be directly challenged.
The Saker, as you would always remain to me, your message is powerful and analysis strong in many cases. I may disagree with some of the analyses and prescribed strategies in addition to your worldwide view in this struggle against the empire in other horizons such as in Africa, but that just shows you are human and not an AI bot spewing out analysis.
Good luck and stay put in your vision for your blog. You are doing an excellent and commendable job and I will respect your choice to better handle your so called thin anonymity. God speed.
Elrius.
Dear Saker. Sick people are everywhere. Don’t feed the trolls. Sickening that they have chosen to kick you when you are already down. But be strong and be yourself.
There is a good advice here – make a page about yourself with as little or as much info as you want. (I’d go for little, what you’ve given is already plenty)
We are here to listen to what you have to say. Don’t underestimate yourself. No need to prove our defend yourself.
You’re work speaks fort itself.
I’ll go with the views of Thomas Kempis 1380-1471, he is a man of the highest repute. I will make time, this afternoon, to find out more about his thinking. What else can one do?
Dear Saker:
The positive thing about this dreadful episode is that now you can appear in many programs under your real name.
Option B.
You have been outed whether you like it or not. Better to add small bio to the website but keep it short and simple. I think you could still keep using the Saker name in your posts.
Don’t mention her at all and don’t make the bio a direct response to her. Just mention the facts and ignore her completely. I feel she just wants attention.
Hello Andrei, Either option seems fine to me. We come to your site for real insight and information. I’m sure you know this type of attack is a token of your success. I find the story interesting but peripheral. I recommend you quickly move the topic to a new button on the site which would allow one to follow the story on the sidelines where it belongs. Mostly I hope you let the associated negativity roll off of you like water off a duck’s back and you and your family proceed to live life normally. Please proceed alerted but undisturbed. Thank you
PS: Let the lady know that it is against the law to threaten people.
Off topic, but I wanted to give you an update on my book order.
Your book has now arrived in the UK through Amazon. It took about 2 weeks. It is the wisdom of the Saker and the Community that I seek, not the opinion of “Andrei,” whoever he might be.
Option A
Stick to you plan.
No time for distractions.
As the saying goes- The dogs bark but the elephant (or caravan) lumbers on.
Option A. It’s better than letting your detractors set your agenda for you. And anyway, as you pointed out, we already have a rough-and-ready understanding of your background, so it’s not that urgent.
Hi, Saker!
I think you should keep to the business as usual plan, without letting anyone else dictate your actions. Also, as long as you do what you do best, analyzing world-events and providing a platform for sanity with your blog – who cares who you are, where you come from or what you have or haven’t done?
Yeah, it’s of interest on the sidelines, but I personally could care less if you’re fat or skinny, prefer beer to wine or are a vegetarian, gay or straight… What makes you interesting is what you say, write and do. Where you came from is really of lesser importance.
Hey, there are Judases everywhere and all they really want is to be relevant and grab the attention with their stunts.
Don’t give them a platform! Leave it at your mini-come out, let that article be there for all to see as it goes down the chronological time-line. It will get pushed down the date and attention line, but it can remain there for all those who care to dig it up and to rob your Judases of the “I told you so” moment.
Personally, I don’t think that these two characters will stay relevant for long. From what I can gather they’re pretty low-down, white trash type folks in their heart of hearts. Nobody will grace them with attention for too long.
Stay with Option A for now, and do not lock yourself into Option B. Take the matter to God in prayer. Then wait and listen. After some time has passed (you will know when) consider what you want to do and how that could affect your family. Listen to your wife.
Remember Romans 8:28 and Genesis 50:20. I don’t know how this negative publicity will work for your good, but I think that ultimately The Saker “brand” (to put it in crass marketing terms) will be enhanced rather than harmed.
This is my first comment.
I can fully see your dilemma by looking my own thoughts/experiences of the past 11 years. Without boring with details you’ll already know, Russia has always been the end game and always will be until one side ‘wins’. Maybe I’ll post my own writings over this 11 years sometime, most of it now past and consigned to history. The scary part of this writing turned out to be it’s accuracy with only Iran still awaiting it’s invasion. That aside the plan still seems to be the same with only the timing postponed.
Empire does not like ordinary citizens finding out and understanding what they really do in the world. Within a small group of people they’ll keep a watchful eye but not disrupt anything unless/until that group/person becomes politically active, then everything changes.
For you Saker everything came together at the right/wrong time depending on who is judging. Your decision to open up true commentary on the Ukrainian putsch stunned not only genuine searchers of truth like myself but the centers of power in Washington and London as well. What followed was highly predictable in the repeated attempts to shut you down, and continuing.
This personal attack seems to be a continuation of this and will likely not go away unless you give up completely. Your articles have already become ‘mainstream’ in the real news blog-sphere many of us follow. In an increasing number of places you are being quoted. These include Global research and Russia Insider amongst others.
What’s admired most with your work is the frankness. You write on what you see, look at the various information sources and give your opinion, What’s honorable is the honesty on the ‘don’t know’ parts.
Getting to the A or B question?
Part of that is already answered by what your doing. These media attacks are not going to stop and will have to decide as a family if it’s worth the effort to continue. As much as I hope you’ll continue writing these bastards won’t stop. It’s a tough call and only one you and your wife can make.
All Western intelligence agencies know your identity anyway. Freedom of speech is all fine and well until they decide it isn’t.
There’s a saying which goes: “Man proposes and God disposes”. You’re already out of the closet. And you’re exactly like I imagined you :)
I would choose option B, if only for peace of mind’s sake (Saker!). But I agree this one should be your decision and yours alone. Maybe you’ll manage to find some agreement between the two paths, like Dennis James Leary so wisely puts…
To the future! To the vineyard of the saker and to a sea full of submarines out of the desert!
Saker,
you know how the old persian proverb goes:
“dogs are barking, but the caravan moves on”
Either A or B – let them bark and keep on movin’ ! :)
greetings from Slovakia
I agree with many commenters that you can have photo and name in a corner of the blog, and I suggest you use the photo that this woman used, with the sunglasses (actually I think it would have been better if you did not add one of your own photos as you did in the article.).
And i also suggest that after adding your name and photo and a short description on the blog, you should delete this entire article. You probably don’t agree, because people may accuse you of (self) censorship , but I think this article has served it’s cause — you have gotten the votes, and you and all readers have also seen clearly what an immense support you have, I can’t imagine any other blogger that gets 400 responses in less than 24 hours, almost all positive.
Ignoring that betrayer will be the best choice.
My vote goes to option B.
Saker,
Let me share a personal story with you. 4-5 years ago I dealt with a group of people through my work. They all seemed like nice guys and told me candidly about their business. A year after that, through random circumstance, I realised that they were involved in one of the biggest economic crimes ever in my home country. Thousands of mom and pop investors had been conned and all in all, more than 100 million dollars had been stolen. I went to the economic crimes unit of my country’s police force to tell them what had happened. They did not want to listen or deal with the case since I was not a victim of the crime myself. I had no idea myself who the exact victims were. I decided to do something unusual: I wrote about the case extensively on one of my country’s largest social media forums. The response was enormous: all the newspapers wrote about the case, radio and TV had special programs about the case. The investors filed hundreds of police reports and legal cases are being tried in the courts and will continue to do so for many years.
One day around 3 years ago, the criminals found out that I was behind the information that had exposed their dirty business. They set up an anonymous blog in which they posted wild lies about me, for instance that I was a Nazi. Their next move was to mass mail the link to thousands of people in my community, including all the teachers at my children’s school, my neighbours etc. They went on to call me and issue death threats and lot of other nasty things I won’t even go into.
I took the liberty to google your name, and I can see that your wife and kids are the same age as mine, which makes me think I understand what you are going through. 3 years ago when I was defamed on the internet, I had the same A and B choices that you are facing now. B was tempting for the same reasons you mention: the blog about me was so obviously mendacious and disgusting. But I decided to go with alternative A and I haven’t regretted it for a second. I filed a libel report with the police (obviously it was written off since the cops couldn’t proof the authorship), I told my closest friends about the blog and what I thought about it, and to the rest of the world I was silent.
There are two serious dangers with alternative B. The first is that you will get into an endless, meaningless, and unwinnable debate full of lies and ad hominem. Just like the criminals who persecuted me, the people who write about you are not mentally sane. They will continue to escalate the trash talk and force you to spend time on them instead of on the important work that you do. Don’t allow them to provoke you and steal your time and energy.
The second and most important reason to choose alternative A concerns your family’s safety. The more the internet starts talking about your identity, the likelier it is that REALLY crazy people such as political extremists will come after you, your beautiful wife and innocent children. The world is full of sick people who resort to threats and violence against truth tellers. Be careful!!
Given all of this, my advice to you right now is to delete this whole page from your site. As a minimum, I STRONGLY recommend you to take away your photo! Once you’ve cleaned up the site you should take a deep breath, maybe turn off your phone for a few days, and go for a mini vacation with your loved ones. The disgust and anger won’t go away instantly but be patient and sooner or later I promise you that things will go back to normal. For me it took a few months before the storm passed. Today, my life is better than ever.
That’s all I have to say about this. Thanks for your fantastic analysis which I read with great interest every day. I wish you and your family all the best. You have my email if you want any more personal advice how to handle this.
In my earlier comment i wrote that you can have a photo, but after reading this comment i completely agree with the writer…..just delete everything and ignore the “rats”.
Whatever problems that will come can be dealt with while they appear.
With this enormous support you have, I think it is possible to keep the focus away from the smear campaign, and “tighten the circle of wagons” around your blog.
@.-.-.-.-. & imli
In my opinion, this is very bad advice and not applicable to Andrei/Saker:
–>Your “alleged” enemies were well organized, financed and out-right organized criminals. The Serbian couple that attacked Saker/Andrei Raevski, are relative nobodies. If the couple turns out to be a front-end to a larger organization attempting to damage this blog, then what better way than to smoke them out than option B. And if it turns out that these 2 people are backed by a larger organized campaign, it’s game-over for their credibility not Saker’s and it will be the smear campaign organizers that’ll get outed (and this blog’s profile and credibility will multiply).
–>Saker apparently seems to have a huge community of support, you did not, you were alone.
–>The type of people you helped were not politically astute or resistive (as are this blog’s readers), but financial dupes who had a single-purpose interest: their investments. The readers of this blog will not dump this site even if you had a video of Saker swearing allegiance to Erdogan – people would laugh at it as a pathetic forgery.
–>Saker has backing (perhaps unknownst to him) by powerful individuals in other governments and media, you, on the other hand, were alone.
My advice as before (I’m not double voting), is:
—>briefly clarify the disinfo allegations (once) with logic and proof,
—>and then completely move on and don’t waste any further time on this
—> and add a mini bio about the real Saker (Andrei Raevski). That’s it.
—> move up your date regarding a write up on yourself to sometime in the next 6 months, but give priority to geopolitical events such as Syria, Ukraine and other topics that have been driving this blog’s momentum. Take your time to do your personal write-up and do it right – it might be therapeutic in dealing with the recent loss of your mother – who I’d assume was proud of you and this blog.
—> Do a Putin Judo move, use this attack to your advantage.
Salam Saker,
since you are asking for votes for either A or B, the frequent response “Do what you feel is the best for you” seems rather senseless.
My vote is A (for all those reasons brought forward here plus one of my own) plus some lines of your background and life stations as a permanent item of your site (as others already suggested).
My own idea pro A is the following: I have cared about jubilees and written something on that occasion twice during the last years. The first was the nnth day a person who had been important to me and others had passed away – the question what had remained of him and his importance after these nn years begged an answer. The second jubilee was a double jubilee of mm years after my leaving school (a jubilee for me and my class mates), and a year later NNN years since the founding of our school, and again something was to be written about that – an assessment of where I and we (or we and I) had gone in these mm years, and what our school stood and stands for after NNN years of its existence, and whether the traditions are good or not, well kept or not etc.
In these two (or three cases) I found out that extracting lasting content from the memories of past events “because now it must be done, for jubilee’s sake” brought about many things I’d have never remembered, never noticed, never understood without that special self imposed job to “write something for it”. It is a trip into … you, only you, will see what… and can describe for us in whatever detail and colour you choose. I’d recommend not to miss that occasion… you need time for this, therefore A (although I’d prefer to read your story in ’16 – there are much too many 17s around already, all bad, beginning with MH 17.
B is the exact opposite – rebuffing now what is or seems important today, with a content dictated by others, and this hastily.
As to the *problem* at hand, you made the “mistake” of linking to Snežana’s article at Cirilizovano…, so that before continuing your article I read everything there, did not find the article too offending, but *all* of the comments that looked like a prepaid wave of a coordinated claque. Thus I commented this claque phenomenon, and returned to this, your, site only afterwards. Here, everyone is on your side, of course, but not like a claque. I have to say (or repeat) that when you busted the first Serbian Saker team, I would have liked to know something about what happened, and told you that I did not appreciate that the topic was marked as taboo and asking about it was strictly forbidden. I did not notice anything of the second team, and when I was ready for my first look, it did not exist anymore either. One thing I learned with my school-jubilee memories is that when you discuss any topic with anybody else, you will hear “Aw no, I remember this very differently!” Not in anger, not on a controversial topic, but different people do not only keep different things in memory, they already remark different things while they are happening. Now we know what Snežana thinks about you and what you think about her (and her husband and their site etc.), and if 10 of us had been present, there would have been 10 more stories. – For me all labels – “She is Pro-Charlie”, “He is Anti-Jew” – are irrelevant, and the full story would have to be a new full story or investigation for each assertion. There are other points that would have interested me more than Charlie, or pro-/anti-this/that religion, but I am not interested in a rectification/confession/defense now – I am interested in the further development, and in your jubilee discoveries. Mine led me years ago to conclusions along the lines of AGS or her wise metaphysician; they are making things less tragic but not easier. To paraphrase Martin von der Stalinallee: perhaps your mutual problem with Snežana is karmic, and you both should work on it – together.
Cheers,
bp.
Option B – get it over with, say it now, with so much disception and disinformation it is difficult to trust any sources or any Internet content at times. If it is all truth you have nothing to hide. Your family will understand, it is also a responsibility that comes with the territory of having a blog such as this. I know who Tony Carlucci is at Land Destroyer, I know who Pepe Escobar is from Brazil. Not sure who Bilmon is. Started reading Moon Over Alabama back in early 2000’s and then someone else took over. Used to read Bagdad Burning till she disappeared. Many other bloggers have disappeared or died. The truth is the truth and as long as you deny exposing yourself I will also question what else is real on the site. I read but have questions.
I suggest you always questions what is true on this, and other site or source. Some ‘professional’ references are nice to know, but as far as Saker’s personal details I fail to see how they are relevant to the material he deals with or anyone’s business if he doesn’t want to talk about it. I don’t know the personal details of the vast majority of people I deal with, from sales clerks to mechanics to doctors, and I don’t need to.
(BTW, Pepe Escobar doesn’t come from Brazil — he only first landed and began working there: he actually comes from a planet in the Orion system. Now that you know the truth is his analysis any less useful?)
Personally, I prefer option A.
I really don’t think to need to give name, personal info and credentials, to change your internet persona. It wouldn’t change the weight of your articles and opinions. I would say keep to your schedule and if the trolls don’t write in your blog don’t pay attention to them.
Since you’re in the USA, you could do the American thing: sue for defamation. :-)
Otherwise “option B” settles the issue sooner, & most importantly, on your own terms.
Dear Saker,
My very first comment here, though I have been reading you for a long time…
What does it matter as for your name, country of origin, or your CV?
I come here for your analysis of the geopolitical situation, and also for some of your very fine guests, such as Korybko, Larchmonter and many, many interesting others …
Just go on, we care most about the content of your website…
Thus ignore the imbeciles and primitive haters…So provintial, and unimportant…
Looking forward to your new posts, and thank you for everything.
Like Mbfromnm said,
just do what you think is best for you and your family.
Reveal your name only if you intend to run for presidency :-p
Option A. Don’t waste time, energy or intelligence dealing with those out to destroy you: they don’t have that power if you don’t give it to them.
Dear Saker,
I vote A with bells on.
I have followed your blog quietly for years and you won my trust and respect completely – through the consistent high quality of your insights, the network of people you feature, and not least, your respect for faith. I never needed to know your name.
This woman and her husband only disgrace themselves…it will blow over.
FIDO
Forget It ,Drive On
Saker,
Long time reader, first time commenter here.
I would say ignore them. You can be as rational and measured in your response as humanely possible, but they just don’t share these qualities. Any response now can be twisted beyond recognition. As the saying goes, you take the word ‘GOD’, then add some letters to it, take some others out, and swap them round a few times – and hey presto, you end up with ‘SATAN’.
And I would archive as much of their writing as possible, just in case.
MigrantWorker
Saker:
Your postings are very useful for many, many people – I try to check in regularly for better information from the ground relative to Russia and Eastern Europe – as well as anything that is of interest to you and your team.
What you do takes a lot of energy. So my recommendation would be to do whatever is most energizing for you – that way you can keep doing what you do because it is rewarding to you.
My 2 cents is that I trust your judgement – the way you present information allows me to decide for myself. I am free to disagree.
The people doing the attacking IMO sound like people who do not know how to be effective in this environment at best – or lots of other things at worse. So spend as little time as possible worrying about them.
Don’t let the flys find flypaper in your spirit.
Good luck and thanks,
Catherine Austin Fitts
Dear Catherine,
This is a true honor to have you among the readers of this blog. Even more so, we are grateful that you found it worthwhile to comment here and offer Saker your word of wisdom. I hope it wouldn’t escape his attention. I would love to see your interview on this site. May we humbly hope for the blessing? Now that would be really awesome!
Best regards,
Marina
Yes, Scott or Saker, please interview Catherine Austin Fitts and then Greg Palast if they would agree. That would be so great!
Happy to do a podcast – would love to have Saker on the Solari Report as well.
you are most gracious catherine
i’ll take this opportunity to express my admiration. it’s for your experience, brightness, optimism and no-nonsense attidute that i have watched about every interview you gave on the net. thank you. you make a difference. saker’s keen mind makes a difference too. I sincerely hope he won’t be dragging his feet with regards to your disposition.
if you are re-visiting ths section: i totally admired your standing your ground on greg hunter a couple of months ago or so ( your stance on middle east).
—-
just by the way saker, and because i read about every article william f engdahl publishes and listen to every new interview, he did clearly mention recently that in order to get a well rounded picture of what’s going on, one is well advised to refer to: the saker blog. i honestly do not remember which interview was that, but i am almost sure he is one of your reader too.
best regards to all
p.s. by merit of assossiation and context of his research and analysis, i reckon that joseph p farrell is frequenting this blog too – one of our brothers not just in mind. joseph switched off religion but he recently stated that if he were ever going to switch back on, it would be christian orthodox again.
please refer to his many books and articles to get an idea of this truly great mind
kind regards lb
how can we make that happen?
can you email me?
cheers!
..by you getting even busier and producing a podcast.
great lady…your role in this would be enviable.
(i am not techy and know not how podcast uploading works..sorry.)
sure i could email you
Will e-mail this evening.
Dear Catherine,
Thank you for your kind words! I think that I will do exactly what you advise: I will reveal a little bit more about myself, just to plug a few holes, but only as much as I feel like doing. As for the two who decided to violate my trust, I will flush them down my memory hole, take a mental shower, and hope to never have to think about them again.
Kind regards and many thanks again!
The Saker
You have your own blog, and you set the rules! I see you as a professional and a good person, and out of respect, I have a modest view about your personal life. It about content, not persona.
I rather would have more backgrounds about your professional career and the reasons why you came to your opinions than other stuff like all this externally forced ´coming out´!.
I fully agree about your opinion about Hebdo! But about western post modern ´values´, like gay parades or the idiot who staples his nuts to the pavement: Bòòòòòhring, and nothing more! There is no threat. Let them be, and walk on. Useful, stupid idiots. The real enemy is somewhere else, and is very dangerous!
Dear Saker,
It’s well after midnight so my first comment was getting silly and this one probably will be too, but the point was that everyone is right to warn against pig wrestling. Wild pigs fight by different rules, for different reasons, and the ethics of battle, if any, are couched in terminology that doesn’t make any sense, at least not to me. I got provoked into it a few years ago after 5 decades of primly dodging, and to make it short, the pigs won in a big way and trampled me just to make their point clear.
I have the scars to prove it, and let me tell you, the dirt doesn’t wash out of those wounds no matter what you do. The smell is permanent as far as I can tell, and I wish I had never let any of those porkers knock me down because I’m still limping; sometimes I feel their psychic imprint, like an urge to destroy crops by night or wallow in mudholes with the others.
Pig wrestling or worse is asymmetric warfare against a well-armed opponent: The pig, a frequently overweight herd animal possibly with tusks and heavy viral loads, lacks cross-species humor and a balanced perspective, and will not throw in the towel, not knowing the custom or having any towels anyway. The best thing to do when dealing with aggressive swine is to carry a big stick (just in case) while running as fast as possible into the deep, dark forest where your friends are chopping wood.
That’s a bit like Option A: Do not engage further. Avoid conflict or delay until time is on your side. I wish I had done that…
Remain a little aloof, my friend, at least for now, stick to analysing the wars and helping with human insights, and accept condolences for the loss of your mother.
I have no admiration for charismatic figures, benevolent dictators nor allknowing gurus. Neither am I fan of puerile raptorian imagery. I come here for quite interesting digest of online analyses from all around the web and hot news. Besides that I really enjoy reading this blog’s comment sections.
So I don’t care for the option you choose Andrei, just do whatever suits you the best in order to keep things going.
God.
I don’t check the Saker for two days – and this happens!
Petty-minded and poor judgement from those folks, IMHO. You’d think they’d have some sensitivity about your mothers passing away before they decided to ‘out’ you.
People who ‘rat’ on the basis of personal anger while trying to sell the ‘ratting’ as whistleblowing, are not worth diddly.
They had long enough to know your views. Now they claim revealing bio details are some kind of ‘public service’? I expect pdo accusations at least..
Options A is the best response. Otherwise you dignify the act.
Attention- w***s are boring, so lets get back to analysis and bury this.
Looking forward to reading your latest, and BIIIG* hugs to you and your family.
*Mods: that’s a visual pun – not a yell :)
Dear Saker,
We have your smile, it’s quite a lot for me, and I do not merit so much. Option A is your preferred hence it’s mine.
With all my love
option B.
not my life tho so it should be Saker’s decision
Those idiots are taking such a beating that they will probably STFU for a good while anyway. Pick your favorite option.
A
But I reserve the right to call you Andrei from now on.
A solid OPTION A! Keep up the good fight.
Dear Saker,
I would like you to publish my comment and my full name because I have nothing to hide and I support you 100%.
(1) My suggestion is option A: do nothing. Don’t even have a ‘coming out’ in 2017. Why? Because the Vineyard of the Saker is a very good ‘brand’: the name is evocative and your articles, assessments, and editorial opinions should be channelled through that ‘brand’ name.
(2) When you fall out with people, don’t call them names and don’t use psychiatric labels. Leave that to our Western politicians.
(3) Don’t give any assistant the right of ‘full editorial freedom’. Assert editorial prerogative. After all, it is your blog. Draw a short list, based on your philosophy, of where you stand in respect to politics and religion. If one of your assistants wants to post something that he/she knows you may disagree with, he/she should discuss it with you first. If they stick to their guns, then they should create their own blog, but put word into your mouth and say things which you strongly disagree with.
(4) I don’t agree with your expression, ‘Anglo-Zionist’, even though there is some merit in it. The expression sounds different to the way you presumably mean it. You mean it in the narrow, technical sense of close political co-operation between elements in the West and the government of Israel; but that is not the way it sounds. ‘Anglo-Zionist’ sounds like a plot – a permanent plot – and a term of abuse.
(5) I agree with your respect for moderate Islam. There has always been a strand of moderate Islam, the Ottoman Empire caliphate c. 1500 (I learned that from watching Dr Adnan Siddiqui on the Internet, by the way), and Spain, were like that. And most Muslims are moderate.
(6) You have been let down, but that is to be expected. We all get let down sometimes. Sometimes we let other people down. Part of the human condition. Live and learn, and focus on your blog, which I highly value. Best wishes for the future.
Gunnar Sivertsen
Option A
I visit your site for intelligent analysis.
If I wanted soap operas, I could buy a TV and watch that instead.
dear saker
you are not a name. you are your heart, thought and spirit. if you liken it most closely to sakers’, then you must be one of them.
Since defense is the first act of war I’d go for option A.
Give no energy to these people. None, absolutely none.
Carry on.
Love.
You have said it all so well – as usual! I am covinced that NOBODY, who considers you as an enlightened, knowledgeable, most discerning and inspiring teacher in international politics and who finds in your writings the comfort of reason amidst the screaming insanity to which we are exposed in the world today, cares about what this raging Madam is foaming about. It’s just irrelevant once one has digested the shock of seeing you slandered in such a way. I am definitely in favor of option A and please remember the Congolese saying: “On ne lance des pierres que sur un arbre qui porte des fruits”!
My sincere condolences about your mother. ‘Whoever is born has to go’.
We have to carry on – all we can do is remember the love and the good times spent with the person.
As regards the Snežana episode, I would suggest that one needs to ignore it totally. Any response will simply give cognizance and importance to her – something which is not required.
“Barking dogs do not change the flight of The Saker”.
Your work and analysis is more important than all this shit (apologies for the strong words)
However a small bio somewhere would be more than appropriate.
Cheers and keep going.

Hello Andrei!
If you had a faculty for ‘laconic expression’ last penny I would spend on it. But since this is impossible, I will try to explain with as few words as I can, what is in my heart.
Firstly, my vote for option A. Things happen so fast, so we need every bit if your mind to be focused on current situation and analysis.
Secondly, I turn to you ‘you’, because I sympathize and respect you. With ‘You’, I turn mostly to those that I want to keep their distance.
Next, al since it happen, I had the need to write to you and to express my deep regret that the attempt with Serbian Saker ended so ingloriously (the first time). Mr. Jovanovic explanation never even interested me, because it was completely overshadowed by the damage done to us (the Serbs) caused thereby. Admittedly, the dilemma in which I then was due to the fact that he owns the site with (very serious) name ‘Ćirilizovano’. I sincerely hoped than, that ‘misunderstanding’, somehow (the general satisfaction) would be smoothed.
Anyway, what Snezana did, something like this was to be expected at any moment. Remarkably, even that has not happened much earlier. The hardest thing for me to accept, that ‘dirty kick’ comes from members of my own, Serbian nation. But since it is made so low and primitive, I’m convinced that it’s only the sick vanity and envy. To become ‘caliph instead of the caliph’. The tragic feature, which accompanies us Serbs, through the centuries. Damnation or anathema, I’d say. So, I wish to thank you Andrei for staying unmoved in your relation to the Serbs in general. Do not let insignificant personalities with integrity that “tends to zero”, get you out of the saddle, please (what does not kill, will strengthen you). Such actions discredit the offender from the start, so theire attitudes are not interested to me at all, whatever they may be. For all these years of writing the blog, willy-nilly, you have ‘stripped to the skin’, so that any attempt to discredit and show your personality in a ‘new light’, offends common sense. I even would not be surprised if they photo mounted you between the legs of the child. Or some pet. Again, your dignified “response” only reinforces my assessment of you as a man. Hold on, my friend. The support that ‘sakerblog fallowers’ provide you is the best proof that you are on the right track.
Andrei, I want you to know that Snezana has achieved quite opposite effect of one she, I guess had on mind. At least, to me. Even I do not believe that she works for ‘agency’, because I do not think she would pass the test of intelligence. By showing your photo, just succeded to aprove you were a man, ‘flesh and blood’.
In fact, I never wasted time thinking about your physical appearance, because it is completely irrelevant to this. Things that you have started are from the immeasurable value. Nevertheless, it is good that you did not previously displayed yourself, so that anyone (and so did I) could gain a true picture of your extraordinary personality. Unencumbered with appearance, skin color, details such as glasses, beard, etc.. In Serbia, Andrei, you’re welcome at any time. You do not have to announce, just show up. I sugest you to visit us say in August, at the time the trumpet festival in Guca. With the beer, food and music, foreigners each year more and more, can despite all the flaws comprehend the depth of Serbian soul.
By the way, could you be relative to collonel Nikolai Nikolaevich Raevski, who gave his life in batle against turks 1876. here, near Niš, in Serbia? There is beautiful church now there, but he has got known mostly since Lav Tolstoi took him as a main caracter – count Vronski in novel Ana Karenina.
Finally, I wish to thank the mother who bore you (God rest her soul). The way she raised you, it makes her mission fulfiled in the best possible way, so it opened the gates of heaven to her with no doubt.
Go with Plan A; we don’t need to know who you are ; the quality of your analysis stands on it’s own merit. Don’t feed the trolls! Consider adopting a new screen name; in the fullness of time most of us will settle for that and forget about the other guy.
Hi Andrei,
Sounds like you were intentionally infiltrated and the demonization campaign is being waged with dis-information reinforcements to discredit and destroy your name, reputation and your passion.
Do not let others define who you are. It is you who decides who and what you are.
Hold your head high and pronounce yourself fully to the world.
You have a gift of very good insight and also a good writing style.
Respectfully,
Andrew
Stick with A.
Why let petty and vindictive people dictate how your time and resources are spent?
People visit your site for perspectives and analysis that are entirely missing from the Western corporate echo chamber; best to provide that and not be distracted by calumny.
The good news is that it is just a couple of peevish individuals, and they are going to sound ever more unhinged, monomaniacal, and foolish by persisting in their campaign.
You cannot placate the implacable.
Be like the Queen of England, never explain. Your Saker articles stand on their own merit. They are bound to attract enemies, don’t waste time debating with them. You have more important writing and thinking tasks.
I am sorry about your mother. It is a hard one to bear. Al of us are “passing through nature to eternity” but in her time, she must have been very proud to have you as a son
Dear Saker I sent you all love and respect from Serbia. You know who was Vuk Brankovic in our history. Our Serbian mytical Juda. That being said even now traitors are biggest problem of our people, national interest and culture. But you know and understand Serbs, we know and understand you. Always for justice and love, brothers forever. Live long our Russian brother.
Option A, definitely.
Please don’t give Mrs. Berthet more importance than she deserves. Actually, she looks like a 100% UNimportant. Keep on with the good work.
This sort of stuff happens. There’s something about the Net that allows — or maybe even encourages — intemperate and vituperative comments. I say stick to your Plan A.
Not everybody will agree with everything.
Option A
Otherwise the narrative gets way too complicated, I hate the rats who made you waste so much time on writing explanations for the stuff most of us, i.e. your occasional casual readers (like myself) are clueless about. Why not start a parallel denunciation campaign claiming that the Saker is Yonatan Rabinovich, an Israeli provocateur and another one, that the Saker is a Toivo Siga, an Estonian ethno-Nazi and this is a false flag propagandist operation, and another one with more preposterous revelations – one can always neutralize lies with different lies, no need to waste truth on disproving falsehoods.. Judging by what I read these two individuals are in the urgent need of psychiatric attention.
Dear Saker,
first of all I would like to express my condolences for Your Mother’s death.
I think there are always myriads of options for every case. For instance why not 12, a number I love, I would call it the number of this universe, instead of 10, a number of just ordinary completion, that I would call the number of the solar system? That would make 2019. I will think about the issue with more time and let you know my opinion.
Thank You for all You have done and are doing to bring together this community that, in my case, gives me a good chance to express my talents.
Fond Regards
