Dear friends,
I just finished recording the 2nd podast. You can grab it here:
https://sites.google.com/site/sakerpodcast/home/saker-podcast-2-1
As always, I look forward to hearing your comments, suggestions and criticisms. Please let me know how I can do better.
As I might have mentioned it in the past, the long term solution I have chosen is to have the future podcasts embedded in the new website (which is still being worked on by volunteers). For the time being, the best repository will be this Soundcloud page: https://soundcloud.com/vineyard-saker/
I hope that you will enjoy this podcast, kindest regards to all,
The Saker
since you start with discussion of Ukrainian vs Russian languages, might I recommend the linguistics site: http://omniglot.com/
(I have used this site in the past as an aid in dealing with Old Slavonic)
The site deals with:

and cant even comment there without logging into the frikkin NSA-google account
@WalterSobchak: instead of having a fit, just download it of Mediafire. That why I put it there in the first place.

I have one thing I would like to give as feedback.
Generally you speak at a pleasant speed, which is good to follow as a non-english person who is known with the language. However, you do tend to read up questions pretty fast — too fast and unclear in my opinion. Because the questions are the most important (they’re the sentences that are being answerred) I think you should pay attention that they are spoken out clearly, standing out to all other speech.
A few weeks back I wrote on here that I was convinced France would not deliver the first Mistral, saying I would post after the inital deadline as a reminder.
The first ship should have been delivered Nov. 14. It was not.
Today I’m saying, again, those ships will never be delivered. Also, Russia will not get reimbursed and France will tell them off if they ask for penalties.
Why? Because the French governement is owned by zionists. Also, who would make them respect the contract? Zionists owned all international courts and other institutions.
I will remind everyone what PCR said on Russia Today a couple weeks ago (for which he was lambasted here): “I don’t think Putin realizes what he is up against… what those people are capable of.”
Also, mark my words, and I know it may sound crazy at this point, but China at some point will stab Russia in the back.
I don’t share the Saker’s analysis of the situation at all. To me the empire is definitely winning here. The oil situation is taking its toll on Russia. And that was so predictable.
Several of us had predicted they would crash the oil market at some point by the way. But Putin foolishly said he did not believe they would cut their nose to spite their faces.
He truly does not seem to understand what he is up against.
And I’m sorry to tell you, Saker, he’s in reactionary mode all the time, instead of being on the offense, meaning he is always a move behind.
I wish Russia a miracle to get out of all this. It’s the only thing that can save them at this point.
Oh and before I forget… let’s hope it was not a mistake for Putin to fall for that Koala trick…. once again, remember what PCR said… those people are capable of anything.
Enjoyed the podcast immensely. I listened to it on my cellphone so don’t know if this is the reason or not, but starting about 1hr15min it starts from the beginning. Sound cloud. Thank you for your time, work, and sharing of your knowledge. Sharon
For what it’s worth, here is my feeback.
Whatever the merits of your podcasts, I won’t take the time to listen to them.
Why? Because reading is 3 to 4 times faster than listening.
Even though I have a lot of respect and admiration for you, Saker, you are not the sole source of information and analysis that I check everyday. From my vantage point, your podcast and takes away time for other endeavors.
Time is a precious commodity. Doing too many things at once is a sure way to lose out on the long run.
You would do best sticking to your knitting: writing exceptional analysis on events happening in eastern europe and Russia. This is your ticket to fame and our passport to better understand eastern europe geopolitics and Russia.
Right now as I see it, you’ve got your fingers in too many pots. Whatever your talents, whatever your drive and your passion, there is a physical limit to what you can do.
The essence of a winning strategy is to build on strenghs, not on weaknesses.
Eaxctly.
saker you may be dissipating your energy I am afraiddoing podcasts thpugh cast is good but it duplicates what you write.
your well wisher here.
Listening right now.My impression as native English speaker is “garbled”.
You are interesting to listen to ,but for any other language speakers it must be *very* difficult.
I recall you were already asked to slow down .You haven’t,in fact you are even quicker if anything. Can’t d/load,but not a big problem.

Podcasts are a very good resource for the visually impaired and for totally blind people for that matter. It is a gift. Just be sure and budget time for that thesis. Academia is not a bad niche for an original thinker.
Saker,
You’re imperfect. Please perfect yourself!

Anonymous A**holes.
Seriousness aside, since English is my only language and your 4th or 5th, I use the little rewind and replay capability of Mediafire when I am not certain of what I heard or didn’t hear. I blame myself, not you, for your speech pattern and intonations. And it isn’t difficult to catch the word or phrase.
I know some folks can’t be happy if you sat them on your lap and read to them. So, don’t get dismayed with the bozos.
Technically, there were about four times when there was a glitch that created an echo repeat of a word or two or phrase. It could be your mic into computer,or software at your end. Worth trying to find out how it happened and if it is in the original or a consequence of upload to Mediafire.
However, 19 topics was a lot. The topic choices were rich and your comments were fine.
Let’s not worry about a few reactions. It’s a great human connection with you, warm, enriching, personal and elucidating.
F the a**holes who bitch about partially cloudy days, or not enough rain or right hand turns on red lights.
I’ve got a salute for them! And when they come to my elbow they can whistle twice, as it used to be said in the streets of New York.
You are out there for 20,000 others most of whom never complain, appreciate in silence and value you and your efforts.
The podcast are great. We can take them in self-administered doses of a few minutes or the whole thing at once. They are mobile. And they are filled with good information, jump off points for further research and like an hour or so with a good friend.

I have to make an admission here: it is 23:17 and I still have not had the time to listen to my own recording (I did listen to the first 20min an on these sounded fine). There just was not enough time today. I recorded it in one shot, uploaded it and posted it crossing my fingers that it would be okay. I wanted to get this podcast out before my break on the 19-21 this week, so I had to cram pretty badly, it was stressing, with 90 questions to try to squeeze into 60 min (which is why I ended up with 90mins). I hope that with time I will get better and more efficient at that, but today was, in reality, a heck of a lot harder than the first one. But, as always, one can only to the best he/she can with the time and resources available.
Hopefully next time it will be a smoother recording.
Thanks for your kind words, cheers,
The Saker
I must be a dummy. I couldn’t get access again. It said “The accelerator isn’t available.”??
If possible please post these to your webserver’s public FTP space, and enable anonymous access.
You appear to be familiar with Linux so that should be simple. Plus it enables you to archive your material outside of crappy ‘cloud’ services.
The podcast is a good idea as it allows you to embroider ideas more easily into a coherent whole, which may appear more clumsy in print.
But live streaming is an annoyance for many users, especially those on slower VPNs or dialup. Of course necessary for mobile users, but those are not true computer systems.
I download everything first, even Youtube, using Firefox addons, or an RTMP client.

Being an Anon is,even with an ID,somehow not comparable to a relative, large donation it seems. You welcome comments ,criticisms, and address the donor solely. He may think that ,like USSA politicians, this entitles him to your attention, but I prefer the rights of the little man,the foreigner,to the Obamaite, the Banderite. Money doesn’t do it for me.Respect is earned, not by Ahole,F*** them,put-downs ,but by allowing ALL a voice, and allowing ALL a chance to understand what one is saying.
@Saker
Thank you for the podcasts. Its great having them along with the blog.
Those who don’t want to listen should’nt.
May I suggest that you set a fixed length for the podcast and stick to that. Given everything you are doing 30min seems plenty. If you can only get to a few questions so be it.
Maybe people can vote in the comments for questions they want answered. Don’t know if you can do that on blogger, but perhaps on the other site.
I was able to play the podcast, but I was having trouble downloading it. The last one I downloaded easily onto iTunes.
This one I had to do it via MediaFire and it took awhile.
I like having the podcast on iTunes, as I can replay it when I wish. (Twice already!)
I found your information fascinating and I learned a lot. So thank you very much for doing this. I have shared it with three people I believe would be interested so far, and will keep doing so.
Thank you again.

Sorry for the multiple postings, Saker. If you think that the links are “kosher,” then put just one of them up. I apologize for expecting the comments to just automatically pop up. Cheers! (You don’t have to post this one), Thanks
That logo patch looks like the Ukrainian “trizub”, mind you – remove that thing from this page please!
Saker, I am sorry to have to report a problem. Both soundcloud and mediafire stop after 54 minutes when streaming. Then your voice sometimes comes back garbled after long periods of silence. I write from Europe. I don’t know where the problem is. Perhaps on my side, but I had no problem with the first podcast.
Dear Saker
Although initially sceptical, I found the podcasts suprisingly valuble. The gypsy jazz is great BTW.I wouldn’t be too worried about polish. Just blow man.
My rather obvious advice to those of you critics who are genuine, you can always just skip it.
Keep up the good work.

Could Russia defend itself from a US atrack on Vladivostok?
Once the US fails in its regime change policies needed to prop up its economy, it seems inevitable for me that it will attack Venezuela. Do you think that the Russia and/or China can do anything to protect Venezuela from this attack?
‘democracy does not provide rights for a coup and genocide” VP says today, at Forum All- Russia Peoples” Front Moscow today.
he added “I adressed all sessions..our STANCE was heard”…..
my capitals…note: not voice, concerns, feelings , thoughts but “our stance”….
…..but listened too? Hmm
Well, I have to say that last night was going to leave the podcast for today but I could not resist whipping and finish late at night.
Although I can not understand everything (which I hate because they look very interesting topics), what I really enjoy, because, after so many months here, sharing, feel there is a bond already between us, and hear the voice of The Saker at home, so clear, it is as if he had come for coffee. I really feel a little closer, while we live as far away from each other and, for now, can not meet.
I was thrilled, Saker, hear your answer, but I thought the question was perhaps not very interesting to others. Perhaps was most interesting question that about Chubais … Thank you very much for your attention. Keep going, if you can.
P.S: The version I found on the internet is based on the French edition of Fayard, augmented and corrected by Solzhenitsyn himself.
Happy birthday, you enjoy with your dear wife!

Very good Saker….I learned a lot of new info this week?
Just have 1 question.
-Why it’s taking the NAF so long to take the Donetsk Airport?
It seems they are being shelled from a location near Peski…they really send in there “sabotage” team and take out their artillery from this location shown on the video.
It also shows the infamous Ukrainian “Cyborgs” fighting at the airport.

The stereo left channel is OK throughout, but the right channel cuts out at 1:04:00.
dear saker,
thanks so much for your elaborate answer! it’s… “weird” to hear you address me in person :) :) :)
i thought i’d linked to the source to the quote about the influence of the KGB / FSB on russian society, but to be sure – here is the link to the wikipedia article that informed my question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chekism#Contemporary_Russia
incidentally, i’m persisting in my lecture of the gulag archipelago and keep on being confronted by my own ignorance about that chapter of russian history.
thanks again – i appreciate the time you took to answer my question!
cheers,
marco

I also downloaded the podcast and got the same result, a 54 minute podcast. Nobody else complains, so the file should be ok, but please check, Saker. I never heard your full answer to Vera. I need to know more about Peter and your answers to other questions.
I got only 54 minutes on youtube, too, but I saw the pictures at least.
I just solved the 54 minute problem! Your voice moves from the left to the right ear after 54 minutes. I am deaf on one ear, that was the problem.
Excellent Stuff – Thankyou. I would like to ask your feeling about this: Do you see any link between say, the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics and what I would see as the publicised emergence of Russia out of its ‘post Soviet Funk’ into its own articulated (ie.non Washington concensus) vision of Society and the coup in the ukraine? On a tangentally related note. Do you have a feel for how Russian (I guess I mean oppositional) soft power is developing, influenced by recent Anglo-American-Nato Actions. I note with interest, for instance, an English Language Version of TeleSur.
Saker, please don’t use mediafire to host your podcast, because it requires javascript, has an annoying wait, and you will lose your files when the company go out of business.
Please store them on the Internet Archive, they are a well known non profit organization and have archive of the web way back to 1997, their bandwidth is great and your audio files will last for ever.

I don’t know if this is the place to post questions for the next podcast. But I think UK will be the last to ever break with the “Empire of Chaos”, but do you see anyone maybe Germany realising that these hapless clowns are leading the EU to disaster?
