Tokayev addressed the nation and called what is happening now in the country an anti-terrorist operation.
Kazakhstan is undergoing an anti-terrorist operation
An anti-terrorist operation is underway in our country. The police, National Guard and army are all carrying out an extensive and coordinated work to establish law and order in accordance with the Constitution.
Yesterday, the situation in the cities of Almaty, Aktobe and the Almaty region stabilized. The introduction of the state of emergency regime is yielding results. Constitutional legality is being restored throughout the country.
But terrorists still damage state and private property and use weapons against citizens.
I have given orders to law enforcement agencies and the army to shoot to kill without warning.
There have been calls from abroad for the sides to negotiate for peaceful solutions. What nonsense! How can you negotiate with criminals and murderers?
We had to deal with armed and trained bandits, both local and foreign. It is with bandits and terrorists. So they have to be eliminated. And this will be done in the near future.
The forces of law and order are morally and technically prepared to carry out this task.
As you know, based on the main provisions of the CSTO charter documents, Kazakhstan has asked the heads of participating states to introduce a joint peacekeeping contingent to assist in the establishment of constitutional order.
This contingent arrived in our country for a short period of time to provide cover and support functions.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister of Armenia, which chairs the CSTO, and to the Presidents of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
A special word of thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He responded very quickly and, most importantly, in a comradely and warm manner to my appeal.
I also thank the President of the People’s Republic of China, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey, and the leaders of the United Nations and other international organizations for their words of support.
The tragic events in our country shine a new light on democracy and human rights.
Democracy is not permissiveness and, moreover, not incitement, including in the blogosphere, to unlawful actions.
In my speech on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Independence, I said that the law and order are the main guarantee of the well-being of our country.
And not only in Kazakhstan, but in all civilized countries.
This does not mean an attack on civil liberties and human rights. On the contrary, as shown by the tragedy of Almaty and other cities in Kazakhstan, it is the lack of respect for the law, permissiveness, and anarchy that lead to violations of human rights.
In Almaty, not only administrative buildings, but also the personal property of civilians suffered at the hands of terrorist bandits. Not to mention the health and lives of hundreds of civilians and military personnel.
I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
Let me remind you that at my suggestion, the Law on Peaceful Assemblies of Citizens was passed in May 2020.
This law is, in fact, a major step forward in the promotion of democracy in our country, because it provides for the not permissive, but notificatory nature of rallies and assemblies. Moreover, in central districts of all cities of the country.
But some so-called “human rights activists” and “activists” put themselves above the law and think that they have the right to gather wherever they want and say whatever they want.
Because of the irresponsible actions of these do-gooder activists, police officers are distracted from their basic law enforcement activities. They are often subjected to violence and abuse.
Because of these “activists,” the Internet is “bogged down,” with the result that the interests of millions of citizens and domestic businesses suffer. In other words, enormous damage is done to domestic economic, social, and political stability.
The so-called “free” mass media and “overseas” figures, who are far from the indigenous interests of our multinational people, play an abetting and, in fact, inciting role in the violations of law and order.
It would be no exaggeration to say that all these irresponsible demagogues have become accomplices in unleashing the tragedy in Kazakhstan. And we will respond strictly to all acts of legal vandalism.
There is no doubt that we will overcome this black hole in our history quickly enough. The main thing is to prevent such events from recurring in the future.
I have set up a special inter-agency group to search for and apprehend bandits and terrorists.
I promise our citizens that all of these individuals will be held criminally accountable to the highest standards.
I ask all the people of Kazakhstan to be careful and vigilant. Report any suspicious activities of suspicious persons to law enforcement agencies and hotlines.
There will be a “debriefing” in connection with the actions of law enforcement agencies and the army and their inter-agency coordination.
It also turned out that there is a shortage of special forces, special means and equipment. We will address these issues as a matter of urgency.
It is critical to understand why the state “slept through” the clandestine preparation of terrorist attacks by sleeper cells of militants. Twenty thousand bandits attacked Almaty alone.
Their actions showed the presence of a clear plan of attack on military, administrative and social objects practically in all oblasts, coordinated actions, high combat readiness and brutal cruelty.
In addition to the militants, there were specialists trained in ideological sabotage, adept at using disinformation or “fakes” and capable of manipulating people’s attitudes.
It seems that a single command center was in charge of their training and guidance. The KNB and the Prosecutor General’s Office have begun to deal with this.
Now for the good.
As the situation has stabilized, I have decided to switch on Internet communications in some regions of the country for certain time intervals. This decision, I am sure, will have a positive impact on the livelihood of our citizens.
But I warn you that free access to the Internet does not mean free publication of fabrications, slander, insults and inflammatory appeals.
If such materials appear, we will take measures to detect and punish their authors.
The counter-terrorist operation continues. The fighters have not laid down their arms, they continue to commit crimes or prepare for them. The fight against them must be seen through to the end. Whoever does not surrender will be eliminated.
There is a lot of work ahead to learn the lessons of the tragedy we have lived through. Including from the socio-economic point of view.
The Government will have to take specific decisions, about which I will speak at the Majilis on 11 January.
Right now I would like to tell you, my compatriots, that I am proud of you.
I would like to thank those citizens of Kazakhstan who have remained calm these days and worked to ensure stability and public order.
Despite provocations and destructive calls, you have remained faithful to the law and to your country.
I thank the students of large cities, members of labor collectives, industrial and agricultural workers for their civic consciousness.
I thank the residents of the regions who ensured a peaceful protest.
All demands, expressed in a peaceful form, were heard. As a result of the dialogue, a compromise was reached and solutions to acute socio-economic problems were developed.
Therefore, in regions where the situation remains stable, we will gradually lift the state of emergency.
I am absolutely certain that our sacred motherland, Kazakhstan, will be a strong state on the world map, our economy will develop dynamically, and the social status of our citizens will improve. To achieve these goals, I will propose a plan for reforms and concrete measures to implement them.
I wish strong health and well-being to all!

I’ve also heard that this President says that “the city of Almaty was attacked by 20.000+ terrorists alone”, this doesn’t include the other cities.
Well, it’s clear it is ‘shoot to kill order’ out. Watch the western forces cry the ‘human rights and democracy’ song today.
You can let those swans sing all you want.
It is interesting how once revered “human rights and democracy” ideals plummeted so low overused by psychopaths.
To the extent that “shoot to kill” looks like adequate response.
“Negociar com os terroristas” parece um apelo do “exterior” para salvaguardar a vida dos “terroristas moderados de ocasião” recursos humanos prestadores de serviço especializado em revoluções coloridas . É uma piada!
Yandex translation:
“Negotiating with terrorists” seems like an appeal from the “outside” to safeguard the lives of “moderate terrorists of occasion” human resources service providers specialized in colored revolutions. It’s a joke!
A very good speech by Mr. Tokayev. It is very positive to see strong actions against these ‘bandits’. Kazakhstan is determined to not suffer the same fate that the Ukraine did. If Mr. Tokayev is ever in the Greensboro area I would like to buy him a drink. Salute!
On January 6 2022, The KNB launched a pre-trial investigation against KNB chairman Karim Masimov. He and others are placed in detention during an investigation for high treason.
Masimov was sacked by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on January 5, amid an outbreak of riots in Almaty sparked by surging fuel prices.
Former cultural minister Ermukhamet Ertysbayev, said the crisis was prompted by a number of high-ranking officials, including security officers.
He described the violent riots as a “coup attempt” and an “armed insurrection” that would have been impossible without treason by top government and law enforcement officials.
Wow, that was a pretty powerful speech. He didn’t pull many punches. Interesting Turkey is one of the countries he thanked
Looks like speech was pre-written, as it covers all important topics.
I doubt such sane and precise speech can be created in the thick of ongoing coup.
Once rioters start attacking and destroying private property, civic buildings, that’s a clear sign outside provocateurs are in play. Shoot to Kill Orders…..makes sense, but local authorities must have stood down for it to escalate so fast…paid to stand down, or ordered.
Better than shoot to kill….captured, tried, hung. More of a long term deterrent, better optics.
Cheers M
Hello Blackring,
It read like a breifing, so it looks credible to me.
I wish well to you.
John
@John
Of course, it is credible. Situation on the ground prove it. If inspired by the historical moment, even better. I am sure it will be used elsewhere as a template ,in the (near) future, on similar occasions.
Best wishes to you, too.
Indeed, after some “National Security Laws” were passed in the last days of past years in several Western countries, so that to have grounds to ban any alternative information in the net which does not fit governments narrative, and taking into account Kazakhstan was very well advanced witg regard vaccine mandates, digital ID and all the battery of measures, this communiquee makes me think of a false flag operation orgnaized to crush dissent.
Removed. Please stick to the topic and stop pushing untrue narratives. Mod.
Hi Heather,
Were we not witnessing the zionist powers creating chaos and death through color revolution all over the world, with the Ukraine front and center as a perfect example, one might be inclined to agree with your point that this could have been a false flag. Given the state of affairs the evidence thus far clearly indicates an attempted color revolution instigated by those outside powers.
Blackring, I agree that speech is excellent. But some people have the gift, for instance Putin.
Reminds me of a WW2 meeting between Roosevelt and Churchill. After the meeting Churchill flew home while Roosevelt sat down with his team of speech writers to prepare the presidential speech. While they were discussing Roosevelt’s speech, Churchill’s voice came booming over the airwaves. Roosevelt looked quizzically at his speechwriters; one of them spoke up:
“I guess he rolls his own, Mr.President”.
Maybe pre-written. Maybe we are so used to mediocrity that we reject eloquence when we hear it.
The point was that speech is so good that it looks like it was prepared and polished before. Which is of minor importance.
Much more important is that viable counter strategy to color revolutions matured. This speech is the proof. We’ve waited way too long for this, and it’s about bloody time.
He thanked Erdogan for his “words of support”, which Erdogan offered as he knows those who tried to pull off this coup in Kazakhstan are the same people who tried to unseat him a few years ago..
Google translation,MOD:
This “thank you” may actually be a message to the Erdogan hooligan. I find it difficult that he and his delusional dream of recreating the Ottoman empire were also not part of the attempted coup in Kazakhstan. Erdogan and his cutthroat jihadists, whom he takes out of Syria and takes to various conflicts where he is involved, is one of the biggest saboteurs of stability in the region.
Sometimes you got to be cruel to be kind and this is one of those instances. No Prisoners!

What a great address – may this President be protected and allowed to take Kazakhstan forward with the help of its true allies and neighbours.
He showed toughness/control of the situation along with kindness/caring for his people in that address. He also acknowledged those countries and leaders who had been there for Kazakhstan.
What he said is true – with terrorists you don’t negotiate and shoot to kill if they don’t surrender. All these individuals need to be found or there won’t be any stability in Kazakhstan or the region.
There is also a clear message to the West in that message – very important. They will all be found and prosecuted and non-Kazakhs probably kicked out of Kazakhstan.
Also more Russian troops have arrived:
https://tass.com/defense/1384805
“….An air group of more than seventy Il-76 and five An-124 planes formed by the Defense Ministry transfers units of the Russian contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan around the clock………”
Yes, they will all be found including a few “exterminated in the outhouse” as a sage once said.
Amarynth,
20,000 terrorists is a lot, but Almaty is the biggest city in Kazakhstan (not the capital though) which is probably why they concentrated their forces there.
In the previous military sitrep, it says the Russian military controls the airport in that city. The terrorist can only escape by land now…
@Serbian Girl
I don’t think they want to escape. At least, not yet. They had enough time and means to prepare safe houses and hidden bases in advance. They will go underground – literally. With intention to prolong provocations as long as possible. Kazakhstan is huge, scarcely populated country so massive combing operations would be necessary to root out terrorists.
Eventualy, Anglos will be completely pushed out from yet another important part of Asia.
Ria Novosti, ria.ru has an online report tracking everything. The birds will be singing I think. Check this out:
“The provocateurs detained in Shymkent admitted that they were given weapons, energy and money. This was stated by the first Deputy Mayor of the city Shangys Mukan.
“They say that they were paid money, and also given energy drinks, after which they lost control of themselves. We urge parents to monitor young people so that they do not violate the law,” RT quotes the deputy head of Shymkent.”
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups
Apparently, the goons have got a good dose of brainwashing before they made their stupid and reckless move.
Meth is a staple for ISIS. And in the US military, special ops and contractors have used GO pills for decades.
The invasion of Panama was a meth-induced massacre in Colon.
Not hard to believe stories of drugs used to create a fearless aggression in the terrorist attackers.
Barbiturate Berserkers. Nothing like having a cause to fight for.
Snipers shooting into crowd at the Maiden were also given narcotic stimulants…
(Here too I recall the Las Vegas affair….the facts of which smell to heaven.)
One cannot, they say, taste even a strong dose of “meth” in a cup of coffee.
I too await the trials and the exposing of the master criminals.

“Democracy is not permissiveness and, moreover, not incitement, including in the blogosphere, to unlawful actions.”
This is the most important part of this speech. You can bet that the Western-backed NGOs, fifth columnists and CIA and MI6 goons will have hard days ahead.
And also, Kazakhstan will be more closely aligned with Russia now that the failure of Nazerbayev’s ‘non-aligned’ and anti-Russian policies have become crystal clear.
Hopefully, Kazakhstan will become a partner of the Union State in the future. In fact, non3 of the C. Asian republics have the capacity to withstand western subversion and prosper independently. They will be better off partnering with the Russian Federation.
By trying to start a color revolution at Russia’s underbelly, the Anglozionists made a terrible mistake. The Kazakh govt. will now be more and more pro-Russian. Their agents in the country will have to run away from the country to avoid death or imprisonment. No more BS about democracy and human rights. There should be justice and stability if democracy is to succeed. Apparently, Pres. Tokayev understands this very well and will make sure that western goons won’t try anything funny in his country again.
This is a very good development for Putin and Russia.
It creates a power vacuum that Russia is already filling, and with Nazarbayev in exile the entire Central Asia zone of Eurasia has only the Kremlin to look to and listen to and rely upon. The old wise man is nulled.
The British and US have launched the terror war they want ongoing to block BRI and EAEU. The 83 Billion Dollars in military equipment left behind in Afghan, 600,000 assault rifles puts a lot of fighters into action.
Tokayev is completely dependent on Russia for his security and his nation’s stabilization economically.
That he gave his speech in Russian tells it all.
The West will settle for chaos as their goal. But they just lost Kazakhstan forever, and handed Putin a gift-wrapped present for his Eurasian project.
This also entwines China’s military and anti-terror operations against the Ugyhur terrorists with the CSTO war against ISIS-K, AQ and Taliban elements that are on the Western payrolls.
The Russians don’t have to “invade” anywhere. The US/UK ‘invite’ them to fight. Like in Syria. Then, the West gets its ass kicked to hell.
Putin + Popcorn. Happy New Year!
10 to 1 he winds up in Germany, by secret association no less.
They say they will treat him well.
He better hope they don’t end him to Salisbury.
…”and with Nazarbayev in exile”….
Nazarbayev says he is still in the capital and has been in direct communication with Tokayev.
He also says he had phone conversations with Belarus President Lukashenko urging him to send troops to support Tokayev.
So, no, he doesn’t appear to be behind this and any suggestion to the contrary appears to be a classic case of attempting to muddy the water.

Not that it matters, but here are some telling statements from their skin & bones mouthpieces:
The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, said military assistance to Kazakhstan “brings back memories of situations to be avoided,” in a tweet on Thursday. “Rights and security of civilians must be guaranteed,” he added. “EU is ready to support in addressing this crisis.”
AND
US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said Thursday that “the US and frankly the world will be watching for any violations of human rights.”
I am sorry that Pres. Putin did not do it exactly like this one during the Ukronazi takeover, but hey, looks like
they are next.
Better late than never !..
What is it that folks don’t understand that Russia was invited, and in this case as part of the CSTO.
Russia was not invited during the Maidan. Of course not.
The terrorists – or at least some of them, should be captured, identified – and the best would be if their identities could be confirmed as the ISIS members from Syria, with the track record of being the ones who did beheadings. Their TV presentation would be really important.

it’s possible tokayev was a trojan horse. this reminds me somewhat of putin’s entry into power: chosen b/c it was believed he could be trusted to follow & put into play the course of his benefactors. some years ago i watched a video, i believe filmed by a son in law of yeltsin’s, on the night of the russian election. there were cameras in yeltsin’s living room, yeltsin & wife on the sofa, family surrounding them. until the end yeltsin & his family expected putin to arrive to thank him for anointing him. @ the end yeltsin still couldn’t fathom what it meant that putin hadn’t. i am always dismayed by those commenters that want putin to rush in & do what they if they could would (act (react) without thinking), the brilliance of putin is that he has vision & patience. xi also owns both. the world is indeed fortunate.
it may also be said that Putin and Xi are both a by-product, a result of the western world policies and experiences that lead them, be assured that, other persons would or have stood up with the same vision (for peace) and patience, not a human emotion, but is a quality of spiritual nature and not restricted to single individuals nor derived by mankind. Doubt is not a prerequisite, the west may tell you otherwise. We all possess that spiritual quality, we allow ourselves to be conditioned with limits, and propaganda.
In essence the evil, and hypocrisy that is sown by the western countries, which ‘seems’ to be more powerful, chaos without consciousness, will be uprooted, diminish, shown for what it is, an illusion. The ‘real’ good ultimately prevails even if we don’t witness it immediately through the human eye.
Appears to be a news blackout, RT & Sputnik has the same old reports, 24 hours old about the airport being re-taken. All western media is the same unspecific old reports.
Any reliable sources on what`s happening on the ground?. Are things calming down?
I don`t think a president in these situations is a reliable source as he`s trying to de-esculate things so will tailor his words that the rebels are on the run accordingly regardless of reality.
Yes major mop up operation has started. Road blocks being rolled out everywhere. Vehicles with stacks of guns and other materiel being rolled up. Borders under control and in certain instances closed. Bunches of people with guns being arrested. Some buildings need floor by floor cleansing.
Hang on, it is a clean-up day. This little hot war looks to have spectacularly failed. We will see some really interesting information roll out as soon as is possible.

TASS in Russian has more on President Tokayev speech than TASS in English. Two very important parts of his speech, the first one was that the “state slept through” the “clandestine preparation of terrorist attacks.” The second one was to address the “socio-economic” reasons behind the uprising. He will talk about both issues on Jan. 11 at the Parliament.
He has nailed the two main aspects of this turmoil, correcting mistakes starts by recognizing them, then issue remedies. He’s on the right track.

Tokayev said that “the state slept through” the attack of terrorists. “It is critically important to understand why the state slept through the clandestine preparation of terrorist attacks, sleeper cells of militants,” the president said. Tokayev stressed that the government will have to make a number of decisions, which he will announce on January 11.
“There is a lot of work ahead to learn the lessons of the tragedy we have experienced. Including from a socio-economic point of view. The government will have to make specific decisions, which I will talk about on January 11 in the Mazhilis (the lower house of the republic’s parliament – TASS),” the president said.

Yeah..I emphasise with your comment…
.i also just watched the BBC News – not only that guy with Blinkers amuses…but a BBC reporter stated that Putin “was sending troops because he was extremely worried about all the opposition that was boiling against him in Russia” the statement was a non-sequitur as the journalist did not bother to explain how that connects with Kazakhstan…but, it ensures that the journalist gets paid…
I read an article that said there are 2 main “clans” in Kazakhstan. One headed by Nazerbayev, the old leader and the new one Tokayev. I wonder how much of the upheaval involved these 2 clans? in alliance with? or opposed to?
Roger,
The Russian author of this article talks about Kazakhstan as a clan society consisting of three clan societies..This will provide some more background:
Putin’s Ongoing Blitzkrieg: The Northern Gambit in Kazakhstan
In the Ukraine, in the context of events in Kazakhstan, a number of strange assessments have already been voiced. What is happening is called a “gas maidan” or a revolution. They are praying for the success of the protesters, thinking that this will divert the forces of the Russian Federation from the Ukraine. Russia is expected to get bogged down in street fighting in Kazakh cities …In my opinion, all these estimates are wrong.
Kazakhstan is a clan society, consisting of three clan conglomerates called zhuzes: senior, middle and junior. [A zhuz is one of the three main territorial and tribal divisions in the Kypchak Plain area that covers much of the contemporary Kazakhstan, and represents the main tribal division within the ethnic group of the Kazakhs. Wikipedia]
Nazarbayev and Tokayev are representatives of the senior zhuz. Natives of this zhuz also occupy all key posts in the government: banks, raw materials companies, and law enforcement agencies. Suffice it to say that oil is located in the territory of the junior zhuz, and the proceeds from its production go to the senior zhuz. In addition, Nazarbayev’s departure from politics was very conditional: he retained control over the Security Council, his daughter and son-in-law controlled the main financial rent flows. The government and security forces were also Nazarbayev’s.
This did not suit either the representatives of the younger zhuz (the most aggressive), or the middle one. In addition, Tokayev, although he is a member of the senior zhuz, his clan does not play such a significant role within the common “family” as he would like it to.To be a nominal president in an Asian clan society and who does not control the “treasury” is a double humiliation by local standards. It was almost impossible to push Nazarbayev away from the real levers of control — his cult of the “father of the nation” had been implanted in the power structures. The existing state of affairs did not please Russia either, especially the humanitarian policy of Nazarbayev: a transition to Latin script, gradual replacement of the Russian language, revision of history, active development of grant structures in the country, strengthening of the “Council of Turkic states” axis, increase of Turkish influence in the region etc.
But Putin’s personal peculiarities did not allow him to exert pressure on Nazarbaev, the leader of the nation; the Russian president was simply waiting for Nazarbaev to retire, and was already betting on his successor. But this retiring turned out to be a hybrid one; it is as difficult to change the situation as it was in previous years. Here the interests of Tokayev, the Russian Federation and the two “offended” zhuz coincided strangely enough.
It is difficult to estimate Tokayev’s role at the beginning of protests, but we can say for sure that he used it to the maximum effect: Nazarbayev’s government was dismissed in the first hours, then Nazarbayev himself lost all his posts. Most likely, the former president and his relatives will completely lose their position in the country and leave in the near future. What is happening in Kazakhstan is going under the clear marker of “denursultanization”: monuments to Nazarbayev are being destroyed, slogans of “grandfather go away” are being shouted…At that, what is remarkable: nobody remembers Tokayev and demands his resignation.
Now there was only one thing left: to achieve the loyalty of law enforcement bodies, which are all led by Nazarbayevites. Tokayev had no “own” power structures, which, incidentally, explains the passivity of the power structures on the first day of the protests.
CSTO forces (Collective Security Treaty Organization — Организация Договора о коллективной безопасности; read: Russian Federation) are needed by Tokayev to finally legitimize himself in the rank of supreme commander — the heads of army, police and security forces now have a clear signal where the wind is blowing and whose side to follow from now on. The participation of the CSTO forces in a settlement of the Kazakh crisis will be nominal; in the very near future the protests themselves will come to naught.
What is in store for Kazakhstan as a result? The elimination of the Nazarbayev personality cult and the complete pushing out of his family from managing financial flows of the country. Renaming of the capital, avenues named in his honour and demolition of monuments are possible. Strengthening the influence of the aggrieved zhuz, an “inclusive government” that will “rightly” divide the raw material rents.
The new father of the nation is no longer Nazarbayev, but Tokayev. As in Turkmenistan, where there was a “Turkmenbashi” [title of Saparmurat Niyazov, President of Turkmenistan — , which then became an “Arkadag” [the official and most common title of the current President of Turkmenistan ] .
Abandoning of the Latin alphabet and a return to Cyrillic alphabet; the turning of humanitarian politics in the direction of Russia; the cooling off of relations with Turkey; minimization of Kazakhstan’s participation in Turkic Union; prohibition of grant organizations. Closer integration of Kazakhstan with Russia and Belarus.
I’m not even ruling out the launch of some new common geopolitical project for those three countries. Let us not forget that on 30 December 1922 the USSR was formed, and by the centenary of that date some new agreements on renewed triple union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus may be signed.
Conclusions for the Ukraine.
And here it is all to their disadvantage: Kazakhstan will not open a second front for US. Putin’s authority in Russia and on CIS space will increase exponentially. The CSTO is becoming an effective tool to absolve Russia of individual responsibility for the use of the military “scalpel” in other countries. For example, the deaths of Russian citizens in the Donbass, Russia’s appeal to the CSTO…
In other words, it will already be a collective decision, signed by ….. Pashinyan (by the way, a favourite of the West, Soros and other glitzy grant-giving opinion leaders). I hope Zelenski is in Bukovel (a ski resort) agonizing over how to build a defence in case a “northern gambit” is deployed near our borders…

Some history to help us connect more dots and see the bigger picture. Dr. Marcus Papadopoulos is an author and historian specializing on Russia and Russian history. There are many things you never hear or read about in the West, when it comes to Russia and its history.
“The closeness between the Kazakhs and the Russians can be described as a fraternal bond which cannot be broken and cannot be disrupted. Indeed, in the March 1991 referendum in the Soviet Union, over 90% of the electorates in Kazakhstan (or to be more precise the Kazakhstan Soviet Socialist Republic) voted to preserve the union of Soviet socialist republics. Indeed, the result in the whole of central Asia was very similar. So, in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the electorates there also voted, over 90%, to preserve the Soviet Union.
Following the disillusion of the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan, along with the other central Asian republics, were shocked to find that they were now independent countries, and the Kazakhs, like the Tajiks and the Uzbeks, were very angry with Russia. They were very disappointed with Russia, that they had been separated from Russia. That is a reality that is rarely, if ever, told in the West.
Now, turning to 2022 and the violent protests in Kazakhstan. I am of the firm opinion that the protests–the violent protests–which have seen soldiers killed, police officers killed, violent protesters storming police stations, storming an airport, attempting to storm the parliament, demonstrating a competence in the use of firearms…has been engineered by Western special services to strategically weaken Russia, so that Russia has to contend with two exceedingly dangerous fronts on its borders: namely Ukraine and Kazakhstan.”

Crook Mukhtar Ablyazov, the man with the Western backing.
Any more doubts this was a “color revolution” rehearsal masterminded from abroad? The French are protecting crooked and corrupt thief Mukhtar Ablyazov, they have a vested interests in Kazakh’s uranium. With 15% of the world’s uranium, and 35% of the world’s production, any country with nuclear programs would like to befriend Kazakhstan.
Ablyazov is openly asking for a Western intervention in Kazakhstan, “to prevent the republic’s rapprochement with Russia.” The reality on the ground is more complex than one man declaring himself “leader of the opposition.” There are differet clans at work in Kazakhstan, and they, as any other social/political force, are ready to take advantage of the turmoil. Ablyazov is mostly boasting about his leverage, any man calling himself a “leader” is probably lying, true leaders are recognized as such, no need for self-advertising.

LONDON, January 7. /TASS/. Former chairman of Bank Turan Alem (BTA Bank) Mukhtar Ablyazov, who is now hiding abroad, in an interview with Reuters has called himself the leader of the opposition and the protests in Kazakhstan.
According to Ablyazov, the protesters in Almaty consult with him how to act every day. “I see myself as the leader of the opposition,” he said, noting that he would return to Kazakhstan to lead the interim government should the protests reach the right scale.
Ablyazov, who gave the interview in Paris, said he had not received any money from the West to coordinate the protests. The fugitive banker has urged Western states to interfere in the events in Kazakhstan to prevent the republic’s rapprochement with Russia.

“pode-se dizer também que Putin e Xi são ambos um subproduto, resultado das políticas e experiências do mundo ocidental que os conduzem…”
Creio que não, Putin e Xi são produtos de uma Educação que não existe mais hoje!
Uma Educação ampla baseada em princípios geográficos e históricos ( uma sugestão, leia Yves Lacoste).
Em segundo lugar, a cada 100 anos surge um líder em cada nação, aqui no Brasil tivemos Dom
Pedro II, Getúlio Vargas, Juscelino Kubitshek e o General Ernesto Gueisel.

“It could also be said that Putin and Xi are both a by-product of the policies and experiences of the Western world that drive them…”
I don’t think so, Putin and Xi are products of an Education that no longer exists today!
A broad education based on geographical and historical principles (one suggestion, read Yves Lacoste).
Secondly, every 100 years there is a leader in each nation, here in Brazil we had a gift
Pedro II, Getúlio Vargas, Juscelino Kubitshek and General Ernesto Gueisel.
Even so, we’re under the yoke, it’s not easy to live in a very rich country and see the shitty big-name politicians we’ve elected…
The only thing that prevents Brazil from being divided is the language.
You go from South to North, straight over 4,500
Km, from East to West, almost the same distance, everyone understands each other.
Nr, the by-product you suggested, the hole is lower, it’s in Education!

This Saga will go down in Kazakh Folklore as ‘The Great Purge’ of the western parasitic class.
Tokayev seems to be surprisingly wise and decisive, calling for help from the allied countries and not negotiating with thugs are both very good calls. I am happy that he isn’t as dumb as Yanukovitch was. Though it is a little weird that he let those thugs gain such a foothold in his country?
‘Tokayev seems to be surprisingly wise and decisive’
Yes! And so was Lukashenko last year, and Maduro during the Venezuelan coup attempts.
I wonder if there is a common thread?
No wonder the ‘Globalists’ are seething!
I am having a hard time understanding how the Empire benefits from the events in Kazakhstan. If there was any doubt that negotiations between Russia and the Empire were to be conducted in good faith this should remove the doubt. Russia can only expect violence and attempts at subjugation from the so called Western “partners”. Perhaps it is time to start using the correct terminology for these “partners”. This is an act of terrorism not partnership. It is good to see terrorism being dealt with in the proper fashion. You do not negotiate with terrorists, especially not State terrorists.
This event absolutely reminds me of the BLM violence in the US not long ago. The main difference being bricks were dropped in the U.S. instead of rifles like Kazakhstan. Here in the US there has been a lot of media coverage on the so called 1/6 insurrection but very little about Kazakhstan. Strange.
There has been a lot of major power grabs all across the world lately and it’s getting worse. Freedom will be a forbidden word in the called Western Democracies if this continues much longer. Please open the eyes and pay attention. There is no need for this violence. In a multilateral world we can make deals that mostly satisfy all parties.
@Tec:
Great comment and on the face of it very humorous, yet the humor is quickly lost because it is so disturbingly true. And let’s face it, there is going to be a lot of death and sadness with war – there already is, for the poor brave folks holding their ground in the Donbass. I’m inclined to think that this latest brazen action will only serve as the straw that breaks the camel’s back. It may have the unintended consequence of strengthening Russia’s position in Kazakhstan. Of course if one is to keep an open mind, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that this was a ‘red flag’ to decisively head off a growing threat in Kazakhstan, and also presenting the opportunity to the world that Russia is 100% committed to deadly force if necessary.
The design with Ukraine is not going in the intentions, so the West and the United States encouraged the Maidan scenario in Kazakhstan, but Russia immediately stood with its foot behind the neck of this coup scenario.
@siljan
Thanks for the post.
According to the article, which is interesting, informative and, I would say, convincing, the current operation in Kazakhstan is a ????-do move, as I expected (something unexpected) but didn’t know where it would happen. It seems that Mr. Putin is master in ju-do, and in chess, Mr. Shoygu is a master in aiki-do, and Mr. Lavrov in some-do.
Reactions of Mr. Tokayev, swift response of ODKB (CSTO) means only that they were coordinated and prepared well in advance.
I don’t mean only the creation of a special closed joint communication system between armies of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, on December 7, 2021 (see /csto-sends-peacekeepers-to-kazakhastan/ ), but something much deeper. It was at least two-layer process, with infiltrates in the deeper one, shadowing the upper.
We all were upset about Ukraine point on front line, expecting the worst development. Then came the ultimatum-appeal to Washington, as for “we have nowhere to retreat further”. The other party was very content having on mind one cheating more, preparing a new hot point on front line – Kazakhstan.
The rest is well known.
Now, let us follow pearls in the necklet, intended to choke Russia (Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan). I am not sure any more who is making hot points. Not only Russia is restored (resurrected). What about former USSR (of course in modern and more appropriate form)? It seems that one of purposes of the ultimatum was to make a kind of smoke cloud.
And how the events in Kazakhstan look to the rest of the World?
NATO is full of PR, big talks, big muscles, menaces. But when it comes to a real event, and famous article 5, one sees endless negotiations, public purely bureaucratic statements, long preparations etc. They were fast only in Kabul.
The ODKB? And at the first real challenge. Call us officially, press the button and we are there, with no intention to stay forever, to interfere in internal affairs, or, God forbid, to kill half a million of your children, or change your brains.
Despite all this, I think the influence of the AZ is not so bad and destructive. It is a dialectic factor of our world, without which we could maybe not see such integration processes across EurAsia, mainly driven under the pressure of the US (and its background). After its collapse, we should preserve, cherish vivid memory of how it was once upon in time (in America).
The response from the Western media seems strangely muted. The righteous indignation that is usually displayed by the BBC is very subdued. The best they seem to be able to manage is to call the terrorists protestors and to call the Kazakh government a regime. I get the distinct impression that they are shell shocked or they have another trick up their sleeve which they are concealing.
It would be interesting to have comments on this from people who live in the US or Europe or five eyes countries.
Some examples of what I mean.

“The response from the Western media seems strangely muted. ”
My gut-feeling too. The whole mess looks like half-baked operation. Allowe me a little conspiracy theory.
Seams that “protesters” seized airports just to enable landing of unidentified plane(s) probably carying NEW high level advisers and comunication devices.
While US obviously did logistics and planning for years, now it looks like British MI6 took over, well ahead planned timeframe. While US and UK goals are the same, there is ongoing struggle for possession of remote control. Brits just hijacked expensive US project for selfish purpouses.
And blew it.
If this far cry guesswork resembles truth, there will be consequences. Brace for ugly domestic violence in once happy WASP family. That could be the reason why media is skittish.
“The whole mess looks like half-baked operation. Allow me a little conspiracy theory.”
Plausible, but more complicated than needs be.
One might just as well hypothesis that the said setup stages were observed by others (e.g., Russians) and a general “signal” sign detected and prematurely triggered to flush out the cancer cells at a convenient time. I assume most of these color (or whatever) revolutions have a loose network of agents and cells that are primed to act on a given mass signal — e.g., fuel price hikes etc. So, why not blow the whistle and get it going on your (government’s) own timing and take the necessary steps to leverage off the event. Who increased the fuel prices?
It may have been a British intel cuckolding and cockup; or it just may have been the Russians (and others) springing the trap earlier that planned by the usual suspects. Erdogan obviously sees connections with his own near miss a few years back (thanks to Russian forewarning). This scenario does not invalidate your MI6 fumble but could produce the actual outcomes without it.
It seems to be an appetizer for the main course being served next week. I hope the Russians stick to their demands and take the necessary ‘surgical’ actions to implement their defence policies with respect to Nato if required. The whole world needs this tonal shift atm, imo. Enough of the US sickness and mendacity. If the Russians believe they have a somewhat sacred mission to enable the Truth, then this is one of those pivitol moments in global history.
Your comments gave me a chuckle…if the British get involved in anything, expect them to “Muddle Along”…and do some half-baked improvised planning… its a very strong part of English culture, the supreme manifestation of this “ideology” currently sits in 10 Downing Street…. Not so much the Scots who are usually well organised…
The Media in the UK is a rudderless ship…
The west only knows one strategy. Send in the cavalry. Shock and Awe. Strike once, strike hard. Call out all the troops, or terrorists. Storm the beaches. Empty out Mordor in one, final assault on Minus Tirith. Go for broke, in other words. When that fails, they’ve got nothing.
If Russia and China has a baby it would be Kazakhstan. The people there have Russian and Chinese features im not so good with ethnicity in this region. This Evil ripple effect we’re seeing here will have Sleeper cells shifting into both Russia and China in the disguise of migration from a destabilised Kazakhstan. Who knows their could be Kazakhstan ethnics in Both China and Russia’s military this could also cause some to turn into spies for the west. Will this cause friction between China and Russia if some decide to take sides and sow discord between groups maybe more Loyal to Russia than China and vice verca. It appears to me as a perfect place to sow discord between China and Russia but I am aware the 2 are aware of what tricks are being brewed on their borders. Hopefully China and Russia can negotiate with all parties and both INTERESTS are a priority to all parties in Kazakhstan.
Si les insurgés avaient pris l’aéroport, comment les forces spéciales russes ont-elles pu atterrir ?
The National Security Committee, or KNB, said in a statement on Saturday its former chief Karim Masimov – a close ally of Kazakhstan’s founding president Nursultan Nazarbayev – was arrested on Thursday after it launched an investigation into charges of high treason.
There was a power struggle between Nursultan Nazarbayev (ex President) and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. With the CSTO now sending troops in support of Tokayev it would appear he won. There are unconfirmed reports that Nursultan Nazarbayev has fled the country. Its now a mop up operation.
Interestingly Anthony Blair is a consultant to Nursultan Nazarbayev. Also the part Chevron played in the coup should be investigated.
This will make the negotiations with the US on the 10th very interesting indeed.
NGOs kill. All CSTO members need to root out the NGOs, allow these crooks one flight out or be killed. I’ve been bitching about NGOs for years. They’re Soros and US government funded, they are NOT non-governmental. They’re CIA armed and funded. They are spy outfits. And they have to go. Pronto. This is the perfect example. And the perfect time. Best of all, the citizens are pointing out to the CSTO troops the whereabouts of ‘rebels’ and arms stores. Thanks to Andrei Martyanov for his reportage, which has been timely and accurate.
