The SMO is beginning to end. We can classify it now as a perfect real world training ground for Russian military and is in its final stages. The ‘punitive war’ by their own actions, is heating up in Europe, and the world war between a single polar hegemon and a multi-polar world. At the Saker Blog we will continue with presenting good sources until the last battle is fought, but we go with Martyanov, that the minutae is almost boring now.
We start with Military Summary for end of June 9th. This is an important one as it visually shows the Russian progress. He also on various occasions talks about collapse of the Ukrainian front lines and describes how that is happening. He also updates on new Russian weapons being used.
https://rumble.com/v17wh8w-ukraine.-military-summary-and-analysis-09.06.2022.html
Then, it is good to take a look at Brian Berletic, whose audience is more toward the English speaking world. His expectation still is a long war. This of course is debatable. The take-away from Berletic is Russian Gains, Ukrainian Grain, Kiev Admits Losses.
Follow from a Berletic recommendation to catch up with the Ukrainian Commander who defected to Russia.
Also follow Andrey Martyanov here: http://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2022/06/larch-defines-moral-point-larrys-friend.html
He is hoping to get a video out on the issue of both losses and operations of 4 SU-57 which have been confirmed by Ria as fully netcentric (in Russian), and effective against Ukie Air Defense.
The biggest problems remaining is the Ukrainians using civilians as human shields and the shelling into Donetsk
Both of these will reduce as the Ukrainians get dead.
On the three mercenaries that received the death penalty by firing squad, the Russian FM:
The foreign fighters in Donetsk who were sentenced to death are not legal combatants and therefore are not protected by international humanitarian law, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
According to the official, the UK is yet to reach out to the breakaway state’s authorities, regarding two British citizen’s fate.
Liz Truss? What can we say? She is proclaiming loudly that they are prisoners of war. So, it is easy to reason that if she recognizes to British fighters are prisoners of war, legally, who is it that is fighting against Russia?
Ruble Strengthens again .. Despite Central Bank Cutting Interest Rates
The US dollar fell below 57 rubles on Moscow’s Exchange.
The Euro also slumped under 60 rubles – even as the Central Bank cut interest rates 1.5 percentage points.
Finally, a horrible delight or a stark naked expression of Russian feelings. This is the real Russian sentiment to the Ukronazis from a Russian teenager. (Oofff.. its wild!)
Seems like an optimistic take, but hopefully soon the line of the S. Donets river, up to the important Lisichansk corner and everything under its influence, will soon be in the past, and the larger urban cluster of Slavyansk / Kramatorsk also to follow before too long. There is plenty more after that. Still holding out some hope that VSU comes to its senses and withdraws somewhat, to spare the population. Realistically they probably won’t.
Reuters accused the Russian Federation of shelling, but accidentally showed the Nazi swastika on the hand of a Ukrainian (open the link to see the “kind of civilians Russia is shelling” ).
.
Opponents of the Russian Federation love to criticize and blame it. These cases increased significantly after the start of the Russian military special operation on Ukrainian territory. At the same time, ill-wishers often unexpectedly find themselves in awkward situations. For example, the American agency Reuters published a photo that was taken in Kharkiv on June 8. It shows an allegedly ordinary resident of Ukraine inspecting his van, which was damaged as a result of shelling by Russian troops. Such a picture was supposed to arouse empathy among the Western public for Ukraine and turn it against Russia.
should be noted that recently the Ukrainian ex-ombudsman Lyumila Denisova admitted to writing “atrocities” of the military personnel of the RF Armed Forces near Kiev. She “just wanted to help the country.” Before that, journalists from the Qatari Arabic-language Al-Jazeera TV channel accidentally filmed an ambulance near Kiev, from which fully armed fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were leaving. They, too, were confused, as it was a live broadcast.

This is just too good, Patrick! LMFAO.
I am dismayed to see that this is making the rounds already. The person in the picture does have a swastika tattoo alright, but not on his hand. It is on his arm- bicep area. Anyone who has actually seen the picture knows this. So anybody repeating the translation error of the first poster of this (Sputnik, I suspect), is parroting without looking.
You understand that there is lot of non native English speakers?
Than for us the distinctive from arm to hand is not so crystal clear? That some people maybe don’t know the word arm and use the word hand?
Because anybody with brain will extrapolate that if you say hand you can mean arm?
Or you are just a troll?
I think Marinacat understands how western propaganda works, and that they will use a translation mistake to discredit the important idea that is in the picture.
Well said, Cid. That gentleman has a tattoo on his appendage.
The Russian word for “hand” and “arm”, рука, is the same word.
This should clear up any confusion (or perhaps create more).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EJHjWbI5zw
WGAS, it’s still a swastika, and those are troops emerging from a Red Cross ambulance.
@Marinacat I believe the word for arm and hand is the same word in Russian, machine translation or lazy translation will simply take hand or arm, depending on the feelings..
This is a handy dandy intro for normies on why Russia is winning despite all the unhinged angloid/ukie propaganda http://whattherussia.wordpress.com/2022/06/01/100-days-of-war-how-russia-is-winning-in-ukraine/
You must have better luck with your normies than I do …mine are expecting Moscow to fall any now.
And yesterday I got corrected for saying “the Ukraine” instead of “Ukraine”. I was educated that “the Ukraine” refers to a region when it is really a nation. I wonder if they will continue to insist on that when Ukraine gets redrawn as a tiny landlocked Banderite rump state? Then they will insist on “the Ukraine” and I will quote their explanation to me that “Ukraine is a nation” and not a region. (lol)
‘
So I heard that ukraine means “borderlands” in Russian. Not so much a place as a direction or boundary, hence the sensitivity. Gotta get those pronouns right:)
“Kray” means “edge” in both Russian and Ukrainian. The prefix “u” is a preposition and means “about”. Ukraine was the edge of the Russian Empire before the Revolution.
ooh yeah, we know how the poodles in the “West” love expending their energy on “correct” pronouns. LOL
Its correctly The Ukraine, meaning The Border regions.. it was never really a people or a state from what I have been told. correct or not.
Just tell them Ruthenia is losing badly. If they ask you where Ruthenia is, tell them it’s between Pridnestrovie and Grand Fenwick.

?Wow Japan has gone full tonto on sanctions against Russia
https://tass.com/economy/1463203
TOKYO, June 10. /TASS/. As a part of its new package of anti-Russian sanctions, Japan will prohibit exports of trucks, dump trucks and bulldozers to Russia, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Koichi Hagiuda told reporters on Friday.
also Russia has banished Japanese fishing in Kurils as they would not pay their dues…gonna hit them hard .
Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia would suspend the implementation of an intergovernmental agreement with Japan on certain issues of cooperation in the area of catching of marine living resources until Tokyo meets its financial commitments.
“We have a certain shortage of those territories where it is possible to fish productively and produce seafood. Therefore, there is competition here. I am sure that our Russian fishing companies will come to this place,” Trutnev said.

There are also questions about human rights and the protection of minorities, the newspaper reports.
But Germany offers to give Ukraine a kind of “conditional candidate status.

Orban the eyes wide open Captain Sensible warns EU economy is doomed because
🇭🇺🇪🇺The embargo on Russian gas will finally destroy the European economy, the Hungarian Prime Minister said.
According to him, the development of the EU can be forgotten for decades to come.
Orban noted that Budapest does not supply weapons to Ukraine, as it stands for financing peace, not war.
Hungary, unlike the United States and other EU countries, does not want to take even indirect part in the armed conflict in Ukraine, the politician stressed.
This from Tass (Yandex machine translation):
MOSCOW, June 10. /tass/. Up to 70 thousand Ukrainian military personnel may be in Slavyansk and its surrounding cities, said Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR Artem Olkhin on the air of the TV channel “Russia-1” on Friday.
“It is within Slavyansk itself that it is not very correct to count. If we look at the map of the Donbass, look to the north, there is one city flowing into another, that is, from Avdiivka to Slavyansk, almost one urban agglomeration. And there is a total grouping of troops (APU-approx. TASS), different experts call it differently, but 60-70 thousand exactly, ” Olkhin said.
He added that there are no street battles in Slavyansk itself, but aviation is working in the sky over the city, and artillery duels are underway.

A Japanese tourist boat sank just off Shiretoko, Hokkaido. Russia was good about letting Japanese ships search for bodies in Russian waters near Кунашир—(Kunashir) in the Southern Kurils.
Japanese media managed to report that without mentioning Russia. Propaganda by omission.
Japan/Russia enmity goes back to 1904. Maybe in another 100 yrs they’ll shake hands…
“Incidentally Greece Court days USA was illegal to take Iranian oil they claimed was breaking sanctions.”
This was only after Iran seized a couple Greek ships in its waters. If something hurts a country itself it will be less likely to go along with U.S.’s attack on Russia. Most all these countries are very selfish but will easily go along with U.S.-lead weapons smuggling and sanctions if U.S. asks, but when these countries worry about themselves they will often stop. They are just go-along immoral cowardly entities.
Bridgehead is fast becoming my most favourite word in the English language, real sexy.
As Mr Martyanov says often, this SMO will be written about by military experts (and some of the western regulars masquerading as experts ) for decades to come.
Still, it’s not over by a longshot, as Eastern Europe must be demilitarized and denazified and Western Europe sign a Neutrality Agreement with Russia.
Thanks Amarynth,
“Ruble Strengthens again .. Despite Central Bank Cutting Interest Rates”
That is exactly what happens when you cut interest rates your currency gets stronger.
Increasing interest rates helps increase inflation.
Cutting interest rates helps to reduce inflation.
As the real data graphs prove below….
https://d3fy651gv2fhd3.cloudfront.net/charts/russia-interest-rate@2x.png?s=rrefrate&v=202206101047V20220312&url2=/russia/inflation-cpi

The mainstream economists have the whole thing backwards
Why ?
http://moslereconomics.com/2014/10/13/there-is-no-right-time-for-the-fed-to-raise-rates/
Some say it is a geopolitical tool the West use.
Look our geopolitical enemies this is how you fight inflation you raise your interest rate. Now we are only going to raise ours by 0.25% maybe 3% overall. But you our geopolitical enemy we want you to raise yours by 10- 25% to make your inflation so much worse.
So many countries have fallen into that trap.
Why in normal times both Japan and the EU who have had zero and negative interest rates for decades managed to keep their currencies strong.
If slashing interests actually weakened a currency having zero and negative interests for decades it would have showed up and both the Yen and the Euro would have been battered by inflation.
But in Japan and the Eurozone inflation stayed very low.
If raising interest rates are supposed to strengthen a currency. Then Argentina and Turkey would have had the strongest currencies a long time ago.
Of course that never happened the exact opposite happened of what both Turkey and Argentina were told would happen.
They were caught in the trap.
Russia nearly got caught in the trap at the start of the war when they hiked their interest rate by 10%. I am glad they are now cutting it and should cut it a lot more.
But now they have to deal with a really strong ruble so that might not be a good idea. The very strong rubble is going to start to hurt Russia’s exports.
‘But in Japan and the Eurozone inflation stayed very low.’ Not the case for the EU, they just changed the Market basket on how to calculate the inflation. Now they say its about 7% in Germany for April 22, but in reality its more like 15%, maybe even 20%. Also the Euro as the EUs currency is kind of changing everything, because you have ‘weak’ countries like Greece or Bulgaria with ‘strong’ countries like Germany or Austria mixed together, without really having a consistent money policy or financial policy for the whole Eurozone. And the EU Central Bank prints and prints and prints.
‘But now they have to deal with a really strong ruble so that might not be a good idea. The very strong rubble is going to start to hurt Russia’s exports.’ Yeah, the Russian Central Bank already sunk the official bank rate, and are basically buying other currencies, but it will take time I guess to take effect. Its hard to say, there is not really a alternative to the commodities Russia has, so I think it will not have that much of an effect, but I could be wrong. Interesting times in deed…
Interest rates are just one of many factors influencing inflation. And it is by no way direct and linear as the pseudo experts say. The official thinking is, lower interest rates, means cheaper money, results in more investment, because saving is not useful and that results more demand for products and so increasing prices. That is true for some things – like houses, because they are mainly priced by the monthly cost, not the overall price. So lower interest rates means increasing property prices. But this one sector where the relation is very clear is not included in the official inflation calculation :-)
Fro other sectors, you could argue for a inverted relation between rates and inflation. With low rates, company that are selling products for low non profitable prices can survive longer. In that way, low interest rates support deflation, not inflation. And that is what we have seen. Without bankruptcy the market will not get healthy again.
People are not rational market participants, they are emotional. So they is no good fine tuning. It is chaotic and unstable. Japan was burnt by they bubble 30 years ago and never really recovered. If the flame is out, you can turn on the gas as much as you like, nothing will happen. You just should not check with a lighter what is going on. At some point japan will tip. And then it is all over. The debt is to high and the structures too broken. If trust is lost, then everything is over. But I waited a long time and now it seems maybe Europe will outperform Japan.
The Sitrep went well until the video (it was for her friends).
“but there are other beginnings and other ends”
This part is totally real if Zelensky already has long-range weapons. Given the red lines, he has direct power over our lives then. He, or one of his fanatics, can cross the red lines. It’s where it’s at. If he has those weapons already, that is “where the ball is.” It only needs to be “pushed in” as they say; it’s an easy goal for him. It’s unfair. However, it looks transcendental because for him to have such a power is “too much”, as we say. You don’t give that man that power (it’s like somebody is mocking). Solutions. Whoever created this problem should stage the coup himself.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the recent explosion in a Texas LNG terminal was a Russian retaliation to the delivery of MLRS. Western analysts are to dense to understand retaliation doesn’t necessarily mean military action. The Russian secret services have a long tradition of competent sabotaging.
It both hurts the US, the UK and the EU in one swift blow and is easily deniable.

They’re not mentioned in relation to Ukraine. Maybe they know Ukraine’s plans like the Germans said they knew Germany’s in WWII.

MOSCOW, June 9. /TASS/. Russia will block US State Department websites and Internet mass mailing services that disseminate fake information about the Russian armed forces and the special military operation in Ukraine, chairman of the State Duma’s commission for investigation of foreign interference in Russia’s internal affairs, Vasily Piskaryov, said on Thursday.
“Resources of the US State Department and Internet services for mass mailings of emails to Russian citizens containing fakes that discredit Russian military servicemen and the special military operation in Ukraine will be blocked,” he was quoted by the commission in a statement.

“Both of these will reduce as the Ukrainians get dead.” Ouch! Pithy gallows humor.
“Liz Truss? What can we say?” Exactly. I refuse to believe she can possibly be that arrogantly ignorant. They are all vacuous functionaries reading scripts. Similarly that “slip” concerning never recognizing the Russian sovereignty of Rostov-on-don and other formal Russian lands indicated malignant aggressive intent, so this allegation that their mercs are POWs.. alas, they are cowards lacking the courage to openly declare war on Russia. Or is she sending out feelers for suiciding Global Britain or this new mini-Frankenstein of UK-3B-P-Ukraine? How the poodles desperately want to stay relevant!
—–
Russians apparently installed the S-400s on the luckless Snake Island. This is huge and good news wrt reclaiming Odessa, land bridge to Transnistria and entire Ukie Black Sea coast. It is also a response to loss of Moskva and sealing off infiltration routes into that sector from adjacent Romania.
Liz Truss has only TWO assets and neither of them is her brain!
Let’s remember one very important thing while we are waiting for the final collapse of the Ukie miltary – Russia’s non-ultimatum security demands from last December.
Even after the fighting in Ukraine has stopped there is still the main issue of getting nato the hell away from Russia’s borders, removing the missile bases in Poland and Romania, ending the nato drills on Russia’s borders etc etc thus ensuring the safety of the RF.
Russia was quite unambivalent about these very reasonable demands – they WILL be enforced. They have to be. We can’t go on like this.
How?
Well Bernard at MOA suggests Russia could freeze all trade with Europe giving them the choice between complete collapse of their societies or de-Americanising and “de-natoing”. Russia exports so many vital commodities to the EU that without them Europe cannot even survive never mind prosper. My own view is that many European regimes won’t survive the changes that are coming.
However this is brought about the Russians will be looking beyond Ukraine to their longer term security and though this may be the beginning of the end regarding the SMO, as far as the next steps are concerned this is only the end of the beginning.
Russia doesn’t want to scare the Europeans for now. Their turn will come after the end of the SMO in Ukraine but no one knows the form it will take.
Timing is everything. The Europeans will be a hell of a lot more attentive when the snow starts appearing. Meanwhile the US under a democrat govt are doing everything they can to split their nation asunder with their stupifying January 6th “coup” prosecution. By late autumn they will be so at war with themselves they will be incapable of concentrating on keeping their European vassals in line and obedient.
no worry they will lit a joint and collectively hitch a trip to nirvana-land.
Yeah, but THIS european will be lighting his joint from a tradtional solid fuel fire which burns readily available, and more importantly, FREE fuel this winter…
It’s amazing how Russia proceeds on and on with the SMO. Pity that the Ukrainian people have no say in the whole thing but just them US puppets in power. If Ukraine were like Preußen at least their real patriot military generals would try to bomb them Hitler Selensky to get this over and go for a peace contract to not waste the lands and peoples future completely. The East is lost and trying to withstand only costs precious lifes that could also be saved.
I am a German from real Preußen ancestry and I don’t understand why they (Ukraine army) keep going inside DVR and LVR? To me this is completely ridiculous since the people there want to be Russians. If I had a saying I would long have retreated behind the Dnepr and build real defences there. Don’t struggle with the superforce Russia, there is nothing to gain but defeat. The US and Jews brillant plans have been built on sand alone and the Russian waters of reality are washing away all of their sand castles.
“I don’t understand why they (Ukraine army) keep going inside DVR and LVR?”

And Ursula the Lie is such a rotten soul (if she got any at all).
We are at an inflection point in the transition to the multi-polar world so eloquently described here at The Saker by so many gifted contributors.
And a point made all the more compelling by the introduction of a new monetary paradigm that forms the financial backbone of this new world spearheaded by Russia.
The article linked below by Alasdair Macleod, a UK researcher, covers the nitty-gritty of how and why Russia is in the vanguard of this historic event. And where Russia goes China is sure to follow.
Macleod: “Russia’s new priority is to escape from the West’s crisis”
https://www.goldmoney.com/research/goldmoney-insights/protection-from-a-currency-collapse
I’m not saying what the article you’re linking is saying is unrealistic, but I’m not especially trustful in the impartiality of the author when the source is a site selling gold.
I don’t think we will ever see Weimar level of inflation again, because smart economists (not the clowns western leaders appoint) have the experience of the past to deal with such crisis. It will still hurt like a bitch quite obviously (we can say goodbye to vacations all around the globe and new Iphones every 6 months), but I would be surprised if the euro or the dollar lose more than 50% of its international value, the incompetents we have in charge are bound to be ousted before that. And this will help with tourism and exportation of goods, so a necessary evil to fix issues in the long term.
The countries with the highest inflation in the world right now are under economical sanctions, and when this deplorable habit finally die off with the end of western hegemony, it’s quite possible it becomes less of an issue globally.
1923 Weimar inflation was caused by a mere $32 billion gold debt burden, then priced. The BIS ran the payments, put it’s man in as Hitler’s finance minister, Schacht.
Today, the Transatlantic debt burden is $1.2 QUADRILLION – $1.2 THOUSAND BILLION. Liquidity pumping especially since 2019 makes the 1923 Reichmark action seem like peanuts.
IOW – the BIS does EXACTLY the same as previously.
Monetarism is a disease, and inflation a pandemic.
Now, run that complacent horse by again?
Jesus cool down on the acronyms, not everyone is a native english speaker. The thing is the BIS (whatever it is) now knows that such policy is bound to end in a disaster, so it will be put down eventually. The question is how long the current politicians in charge will be allowed to sabotage their economy to maintain their grip on power.
What the hell is even a complacent horse? Take a chill pill, I’m sorry if you’re one of these sorry capitalists who invested in cryptos or the stock market and saw his money evaporate, but I’m not rich enough to feel personally concerned. Next time don’t play the ponzi game. Everyone knew of the bubble, and people kept pouring money into derivatives like greedy idiots.
@John Doe, with apologies to everyone else for dragging things further away from the topic of today’s sitrep.
BIS stands for Bank of International Settlements, a shadowy body that generally prefers to keep a low public profile. It’s a global governing body for the worlds national central banks, as such it has rather more power than many might at first realise.
As for democratic accountability…
1.2 quadrillion is 1200 trillions or 1,200,000 billions.:)
John Doe
You completely miss the point.
May I suggest you read more and comment less on topics you know nothing about.
You could begin with The Theory of Money and Credit by Ludwig von Mises.
I wouldn’t be so harsh. I think there is a good chance that we see something like the Great Depression again, but he is right, it could be, that those high inflation and deflation numbers won’t reappear. All in all hard to say, I think we will see something similar, but there will be differences of course. One difference is for sure, the huge numbers of middle class people in the west, so there is far more wealth to burn with more years to come in comparison to the 1920s. I think the chances of another Great Depression so to speak are inevitable, because the US has official state debt of over 30 trillion, if you take the debts of the US communities, citizens and companies and add it up, it could very well be 70 or even 100 trillion. There is no chance the US pays that back.
I also think, he underestimates the conformity and indifference of the people in the West. In Germany its a nightmare, people are dense and naive, its unbelievable. While in the US people are more up to economic reality, so I guess change in the US will come, but in countries like Germany or Japan it won’t, at least not in the next couple of months or years. Unless of course a lot of people will freeze or starve to death or the SMO spirals out of control because of the moronic Elites in the West.

Maybe it’s time to throw my hat in the ring and submit a few articles on monetary matters to The Saker.
But educating people is not as easy as entertaining them. Can I do both?
Of course you can and I at least will greatly appreciate it. The economic side of the SMO interests me a lot more than the military one but I have only a rather basic financial knowledge. I did know however what the BIS is.

FBI does not need Kiev – COINTELPRO is their trademark.
Ask instead if FBI were at Maidan?
They were cooperating to develop a mutual opportunity. During our last presidential election American Nazi Party chair Rocky Suhayda endorsed the Republicans and said that a president Trump would benefit his constituency of white nationalists. IMO the facts prove that he is correct.
This is an inconvenient truth for some. Especially Mr. Johnson, LOL.
I expect that the cozy relationship between RW nationalists and admitted Nazis will play an important part in US politics in the future. We will see a lot more coming out of the closet in the near future. They have little to loose. Americans are so history deficient they probably cant even spell Nazi.
Well there were also Antifa and FBI there. John Sullivan, known Antifa and BLM agitator was in the middle of it, and it’s on video. The feds and Antifa hijacked the rally under cover of the crowd to blame the Republicans. That the media didn’t even caution or try to reduce people going to the rally with their usual claims of ‘coronavirus’ which was at peak media hype at the time, seemed strange to me in the several weeks run-up. It confused me but it was also a kind of relief, but now I realize it was part of their plan.
I fully believe the U.S. Deep State wanted as many people as possible so they could stage it and blame the wrong side – and hence be able to shut down those who claimed the elections were a fraud or stolen as “terrorists”. Because they KNEW that there was evidence the election was fraudulent and people wouldn’t accept the government as legitimate.
Those there at the rally claimed that the police and guards actually took down barricades and opened the doors to allow people in, and they stated it was Antifa breaking the windows while the Trump supporters shouted at them to stop.
Hal Turner radio show and web site points out that the Germans told Ukraine that they cannot send any tanks. The problem is the Germans cannot build any new ones because they cannot get titanium. This is due to sanctions on Russia and most titanium comes from Russia. The USA for their jets including military jets uses Russian titanium or used to use it.
Hal came to the conclusion that NATO will never be able to beat Russia on a battlefield because the west-nazis-WEF cannot get any titanium which used in many weapons including missiles.
That’s hilarious how short-sighted western leaders are. Imagine if Russian blocks exports of all commodities to the US indefinitively, it could sign the end of the US military superiority.
The Empire of Lies is now pretty much wobbly. Soon we will see the Empire’s chief fly around start begging the world to forgive the US’s sheer evilness. The Anglos have become such sweet coning characters, as in BoJo, too. The two British mercenaries who now face execution, said during their confessions that they were cheated by the MSM and Ukrainian extremists but today they understand the real purpose of this war. Given that they were active combatants hired by British secret service in Syria before moving to Ukraine, it would make their statements meaningless simply because they would have to explain what the hell they were doing in Syria. Perhaps they could say they were lured by the Ahrar- al-Sham in that time. Anyway the world owes Russia a special gratitude for at last uncovering the sins of the evil western criminals. Thank You Russia.
I rejoice at the prospect of European leaders eventually throwing the US under the bus. May it be sooner rather than later.
the traditional war is probably drawing to a close. the ukies are basically letting their country be cleansed of all military age (and older) males so something’s got to give. just a guess from a punter, but i’d say the time to watch is after the new borders are drawn and the inhabitants let their preferences be known through votes and such.
after that, nonsense from the remaining western “ukraine” could continue al la 2014. it would just be a broader area than it was for the past 8 years. also interesting to see what happens with moldova. having been officially (further) reduced to third world status, expect the ukies to adopt wel known insurgent/terrorist tactics. we all know how that went for the chechens, but it depends on the amount of aid and goading from the west as they aren’t known for their ability to admit defeat (exhibits A and B: afghanistan and iraq).
it will also be interesting to see what happens in kiev, though it’s basically a FOB for NATO rather than an actual capital at this point. then again that’s basically all israel has ever been and look at the trouble they cause.
«the ukies are basically letting their country be cleansed of all military age (and older) males so something’s got to give.»
Actually the opposite: since only women and children are allowed out at the border, and they get automatic “visas” in the EU, millions and millions of ukrainian children and young women will settle in the EU and become german/polish/… to all effects. The population of Ukraine had already collapsed (like the Baltics) because of economic crash before the “special military operation”, it is not going to recover for a long, long time.
Another expression of Russian feelings from another young chick back from March lol:
“Shocked how much shit I receive in DMs from Ukrainians, I merely ridiculed the West, what do you fucking bums have to do with this?
You’re nothing & a nobody, ass naked fucking pawns, no one really supports you, it’s just a game where someone had to be thrown under bus and it was you, do continue living in your lousy Ukraine being ass naked bums robbed by your own government, you’re just a tool of the West to mess with Russia, but you took it all personally as if anyone needs you, wake up, you’re pawns & nothing more”
https://www.tiktok.com/@_solovykh_/video/7070138034565549313
She is right, I would add, that 99.9% of Westerners couldn’t differentiate between Russian or Ukrainian People even if their life would depend on it.
Yeah funny that.
With the Ukrainian refugees flooding Finland I laughed when the locals thought they would be speaking Ukrainian. Then it was found out that no, they speak Russian (what a surprise). Later on it is found that there are a few Russians amongst them.
It makes me wonder though if the Russian contingent fleeing Ukraine West are also trying to get out of Banderistan. Who knows. I would think it will be a better place to be (liberated parts of Ukraine after the SMO) than sticking around in the West which is going down the toilet.
Also interesting is the change in tune of the Main Media outlets. Things are cracking and the narrative is changing. The question will be who get to throw whom under the bus, the USA or EU. May peace be won and respect with sovereign peoples everywhere working towards mutual benefit in a better world. One governed from the heart and spirit and not form Materialism and greed.
It heartens me to read of similar ideas here as I have been exploring elsewhere with regards to awakening and the clash of Spirit vs Sick Materialists. We are all on a very interesting journey with a bright future ahead regardless of what it seems currently. Always darkest before the dawn as they say.
It all depends on what area they left from. I suspect there are fewer of the refugees (for now) from Western Ukraine (where most speak “Ukrainian” as their language). The majority are probably from the “Southeast” of Ukraine (the way they call the East and South of Ukraine together). And that area is heavily Russian speaking.Plus most Ukrainians (less in West Ukraine) know how to speak Russian anyway. Around 86% is the figure I’ve heard. So since far more Europeans probably know Russian (in the countries near Russia certainly) than Ukrainian. I’d suspect those refugees would try to talk to them in Russian.
As to returns to Ukraine? That depends too. Remember the Ukrainians did everything they could to not let refugees go to Russia, including murdering them. They forced all those refugees to go towards Europe. How many of them would have took refuge in Russia if given that choice we can’t know. But I suspect a lot of them might have. Many of those people will probably try to return once the Russians liberate their home regions. But the others, the richer, more loyal to the Kiev nazi regime.Or those from West Ukraine, probably will try to stay in the EU states.I suspect the new pro-Russian authorities will announce after the SMO is finished a set date for people to return and re-claim/occupy their properties. And after that date they would lose all those properties and they would be nationalized and sold. That would crystalize the need to decide among all the refugees.
That’s true for 99.9% of the world population as soon as it is about someone living two countries further. I’ve traveled my whole life in Europe and I would be more wrong than right among Europeans if they keep their mouth shut. Even if I hear them talk I will make a lot of mistakes although I speak 6 languages.
The Russian push from the north of the Seversky Donets River has finally begun. Russian forces, after capturing Svyatogorsk, a small town on the banks of the river, two days ago or so, crossed the S. Donets river and were fighting their way forward “in the direction of Grushevakhi, Vernopol, the Barvenkovo-Slavyansk highway, Krasnopol and Bogorodichny.” This is clearly a major push.
The capture of Liman forced the retreat of Ukranian forces, and led to advances, a momentum began, but the S. Donets river put a temporary stop to that. The river is a natural barrier.
As such, the Seversky Donets River forms the whole line of contact between Russian and Ukranian forces in the north all the way down to Severodonetsk where battle rages.
So now the river barrier has been broken north of Slavyansk. Momentum has started as once this starts this push has to be stopped or else.
“On the three mercenaries that received the death penalty by firing squad, the Russian FM:”
Well, IMO it’s good news the DPR only caught two Brits and a Moroccan fighting with the Ukrops in Mariupol. Either it indicates support for Ukraine among fighting-age men in Europe is much, much lower than assumed by how the media carries on, or there are plenty of pro-Ukrop fighting-age men in Europe but they’re cowards. Either way, a win.
There are many more. These are only the first.
Pinner is already on UK’s terrorist list for Iraq and Syria crimes.
As Liz Truss, UK Foreign Minister seems to have single-handedly declared war on Russia, declares these POW’s, has anyone in Westminster concurred? BoJo was just granted honorary Cossack titles – not sure if the Crown is amused?
It is well known the UK uses Pinner’s all over the place, so likely promised a feathered bed.
For sure a circus ensues!
I just want to put in a plug for the video featured by Hinckle, which was produced by Patrick Lancaster – a US Navy veteran – for his youtube channel which has 509k subscribers (he also has a Telegram channel). Patrick is an independent crowd-funded journalist who has been providing excellent reports from the Donbass side of things since the SMO started.
His channel subs count exploded since the early days of the conflict. Glad for him, not enough journalists have the guts to report directly from the front.
When the realization that Russia cannot be defeated officially dawns on Zone A, they may try to co-opt and patronize Russia and offer it all sorts of incentives and inducements to get it back under western control. They will be very nice and accommodating, but it’s all a ploy to reverse Russia’s gains on every front. I hope no one in the Russian leadership falls for such ruses.
Liz Truss that rusophobic bitch ! She was encouraging civilists in England to go and fight russians, many took the call thinking that it was like going to Afghanistan or Irak and kill ad libitum. Many of these mercenaries took it as exciting adventure go and kill untermenschen” slavs. I hope the death penalty will stand specially if they are found guilty of killing Russians regardless civilians or soldiers.
You just could not make this up!
Kiev, yes Kiev, fired on June 8 the ombudsman of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova, who pushed Disinformation to make US DHS DGB Nina Jankovitz (Minister for Truth) blush. She just commented on her statements regarding the stories of rapes of Ukrainian girls by Russian soldiers.
This propaganda was so outrageous even Kiev had to dump it.
Maybe, just maybe, Kiev is cottoning on?
The United States has already signaled its attempts at de-escalation with Russia. It has done this because the escalation was never about Russia at all. It was, rather, an attempt to create the circumstances whereby the U.S. government could transfer about $40 billion to recoup the losses incurred by prominent American insiders “investing” in Ukraine as the “tip of the spear” to turn Russia into a client state.
What is relevant now are the implications. Is Russia even interested in de-escalation, now that its victory is recognized by all? Will it settle for the gains in has already made – security on its southern flank, add territory and eliminate a NATO “forward base” to its west? Or will it leverage them for more strategic victories? The long-term destabliization of Poland and Romania, perhaps, in an attempt to so weaken the EU that it begins to fracture? Russia now possesses a lot of power.
What it does not possess, however, is the power to enforce a trade embargo on Europe without destroying itself in the process. Russia profits from both the trade it currently conducts as well as the prospect of future trade. Moreover, Russia’s value to the Chinese is as a gateway to the West. Destroying Europe is simply not a prospect for Russia. Russia IS Europe and its future is insoluably tied to it. The only real question is whether it is as a junior or senior partner. The trend appears to be the latter, but difficult to attain with the United States serving as obstructor-in-chief.
So, future Russian actions are of necessity designed to separate Europe from America. Since this is not possible insofar as the current Anglo-Saxon-Gallic configuration is concerned, what will it do to separate the rest of Europe from that configuration? And how will it do it?
I think the most likely next event will be a military coup against the current Ukrainian government, maybe dressed up to look like a Russian assassination. Its clear the USA doesn’t support these guys anymore.
I disagree with your assessment that Russia would destroy itself by embargoing trade with NATO.
I believe that only complete insistence on Trade between Russia & NATO conducted in Roubles/Gold/Specie at advantageous rates, with strategic materials prohibited, is able to weaken NATO to the point it no longer can threaten Russia.
Russia is autarkic. As is the DPRK and Iran…. None of these countries need trade to survive.
It is ROW which needs trade with them.
Witness the PM of Senegal engaging the Russians regarding trade in mutual currencies. Ditto Argentina..
INDY
I agree with the Romanian angle. They may not envision a Russian Black Sea, but the Russians do not want unfriendly powers in its northern reaches. They pushed to Georgians out in 2008 and i predict the Romanians will be next if they remain NATO.
I speculate on this, too.
The Azov Sea is, obviously, now a Russian Lake.
I believe that Russia wants/needs to control the Black Sea.
If you look at a map, Snake Island, now fortified, which defends Odessa, basically forms a “gateway” with Sevastopol, in Crimea.
Putin and Turkey need to strike some kind of deal for Russia to get what it wants in the Black Sea.
It would be a good idea of Romania to declare neutrality and ask NATO to remove weaponry that threatens Russia.
BTW I read an account of all the maneuvering that took place to get Romania aligned with NATO, back in the 1990s. That was a precondition for entry into the EU.
Once Romania is neutralized, I reckon Putin can do a deal with Erdogan to create some kind of Black Sea Regime.
If the EU is to break into its component parts, it will be because Russia can offer a competitive option to membership. This can only happen if the EU is reduced to long-term poverty.
Russia is over 40% of Europe’s land and 15% of its population.
By continuing to do what it is doing and concentrating on the soft power appeal of peace, stability and prosperity. Russia separates Europe from the US by continuing to do business (honoring contracts) and pointing out the Europe is being used. It rebuilds liberated territory in Ukraine as quickly and well as it is able.
Russia can’t afford a completely broken Europe next door. Nor does it want one. NATO and the EU will self destruct, it’s already happening. Eastern Europe is effectively disarmed for the medium term (the US just figured out we don’t have antimony, we’re not rearming the western world). Russia tried to save Europe from the US in a amicable manner. Europe has chosen to stay with its abuser for the time being. Russia will help Europe when it comes to its senses, but trust is gone.
Europe will never be Russia’s prime customer for resources again. It will be just another trade partner at best and second tier against Asian partners most likely. Asia will get oil at $70/bbl on long term contracts; Europe will get spot market prices and what’s available after prime contracts are fulfilled. But russia won’t punish europe for the sake of punishing it or making it suffer.
At least Putin won’t. If I was Europe I would make sure to have things as patched up as possible while VVP is still in office. A lot of other Russians might have a less humanist view of Europe.
That Russian girl finding the Ukrainian smelly and disgusting: I am not sure that this is inter-ethnic hatred. I believe it is class hatred. She would say the same things about poor people from Uryupinsk (Russian for Nowhereville).
Yeah, I don’t get the point of including the last video on a serious blog, it contributes absolutely nothing in terms of knowledge and understanding. The young woman is clearly a hypocrite for doing exactly what she is telling us not to do, then using trailer trash talk.
As for the first video, I wonder who on the Saker team thinks anyone is going to sit through 2 hrs – 11 min of what appears to be very soft analysis, from my random spot checks. Perhaps a poll of readers here is in order, to determine the max length of a presentation. I will give a newbie max 10 minutes, 30 tops for a proven all-star.
The career YouTubers have to get the message. Be short, swift and to the point. Break diverse content into chapters (shorter videos). Edit, edit, edit!!
I don’t know how long you would give to a former Ukrainian commander who defected to Russia. But, that piece is over within the first 20 minutes.
The recommendation was … “Follow from a Berletic recommendation to catch up with the Ukrainian Commander who defected to Russia.”
Voenkor Kitten Z
Military expert Boris Rozhin with a brief summary of the results of the operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine at 22.50 on June 10, 2022, especially for the Voenkor Kotenok Z @voenkorKotenok channel :
1.
Severodonetsk.
Fighting in the industrial zone of the city. The enemy suffers heavy losses in the battles for the city, data about which even leak into the Ukrainian media. However, the topic of “withdrawal to Lysichansk” continues to be blocked for political reasons. In fact, the fighting in Severodonetsk turned into the grinding of those reserves that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine pushed into the industrial zone.
2.
Soledar.
Fights in the area of Berestovoye and Belogorovka. The enemy is gradually squeezed out of the line, grinding the reserves transferred here from Artemovsk. The Lisichansk-Artemovsk highway is still under the fire control of the RF Armed Forces, however, the supply through Seversk is maintained by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
3.
Svetlodarsk.
A small advance at Dolomite. Uglegorskaya TPP and Novoluganskoye are still under the APU. Counterattacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Roty were not successful.
4.
Golden.
Fighting in the area of Vrubovka, Toshkovka and Ustinovka. There is no significant progress, just like on the outskirts of Zolote.
5.
Avdiivka.
In the industrial zone of Avdiivka, in Kamenka and Krasnogorovka, there were no significant changes.
Fighting on the outskirts of New York. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue terrorist shelling of Donetsk and other cities.
6.
Raisins.
Kamyshevakha, Kurulka, Dolgenkoe – no changes. Attacks on Krasnopolye and Dolina have not yet led to the capture of these villages.
Fights for the Mother of God.
7.
Svyatogorsk.
The troops are clearing the forest to the west of Svyatogorsk, and are also fighting in the Tatyanovka area. There are unconfirmed reports of the capture of Prishib and advance towards Sidorovo. In other areas, the Seversky Donets has not yet been forced. The enemy reinforced the grouping near Seversk and Zakotnoe.
8.
Kharkov.
Positional battles on the line Cossack Lopan-Liptsy-Ternovoe-Rubezhnoye. Local attack attempts from both sides did not significantly change the overall picture. We can note the further intensification of enemy fire damage on the outskirts of Kharkov and in the Sumy region.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing to resume offensive attempts in the direction of Kazachya Lopan and Liptsy.
9.
Zaporozhye.
There are no significant advances on the Kamenskoye-Orekhov-Gulyaipole-Velikaya Novoselovka line. The enemy is fortifying positions in the area of Kamenskoye and Orekhov, expecting an attack by the RF Armed Forces on Zaporozhye.
10.
Nikolaev.
The RF Armed Forces ousted the remnants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Kinburn Spit and provided the possibility of artillery strikes on Ochakovo, where the enemy suffered losses in the ship composition.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine expect the resumption of active offensive operations of the RF Armed Forces north of Nikolaev, as well as on the Black Sea coast.
In the Davydov Brod area, the enemy has so far gone over to the defensive.
On the Krivoy Rog and Nikopol directions – without significant changes.
11.
Odessa, Marinka, Ugledar – no change.

about the russian teenage girl — i can understand her reaction. but the problem is that you can easily become what you fight.
i am not free of hate, myself. far from it. but any hatred i feel always at least partially turns against myself as well. there is a price to pay.
and that is a great challenge, especially in the situation the people of the donbass and also russia are in. i wish them the strength and restraint that they will not become what they fight.
Question for everyone:
1. Do you think that the Russians plan to take Odessa and cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea entirely?
2. Do you think Russia would be willing to give up Odessa and that coastline (and the land bridge to Transnistria) if Ukraine sues for peace before Odessa is brought under Russian control?
1. I hope so.
2. I hope not.
I think the Russians will liberate the southern coasts all the way to Transnisteria. It is because she can’t allow this highly unpredictable western supported stooge in kiev retain access to the Black Sea lest it would enable them to cause more troubles in that region in the future.
1. Yes
2. No
No, I honestly do not think Russia will take Odessa and here is why. First, Odessa has been dramatically reinforced recently. Second, Odessa has a massive underground bunker and cavern complex, the largest underground caverns under any city in the world as I understand. Also, Putin never went into this conflict with the intent of harming the Ukrainian population, civilians. Cutting off Ukraine from the Black Sea means difficulty in grain exports and pain for the populations. Also, there are still many civilians in Odessa, and it is a very historic city, which means Russia does not want to turn it into another Mariupol. For these reason, I believe Russia will stop at Nikoleav.
Rufus Shinra,
You could be right, but we also have to consider that if Russia as you say stops at Nikolaev, then she must make sure that the rest of Ukraine which would include Odessa and a coastline, will be: 1- %100 free of any neonazi thugs, 2-Ukraine will never join NATO, 3- Kiev remains neutral. Given all the previous negative experiences about how we can expect the Empire of Lies could behave and how those right wing Ukrainians are just paid stooges of the US and the Globalists, it would make little sense they will be ready to give up their current trouble making assignment and leave Donbass – Russia live in peace. Therefore, it’s more likely that Russia will continue its liberation campaign all the way to Transnisteria but completely surrender Odessa from all sides and engage in a long term battle until the Western supported neonazis run out of ammunition, food, …etc.
Some big news, militants in Azot, Severodonetsk are trying to negotiate a surrender. There should be a high percentage of foreign mercenaries among them but they appear to be in a cauldron. See Readovka news for the article, my apologies for cut and paste but not sure whether link is banned in USA.
Also from Readovka:
“under the control of Russian troops the western part of the Kinburn Spit , territorially belonging to the Nikolaev region (the rest – to the Kherson region). With her release, a direct sea route to Ochakov opens .
In addition, the Ukrainian defense was left without ships – the Vinnitsa corvette was destroyed by Russian missiles . The landing ship “Yuri Olefirenko” left the combat zone due to “the low moral and psychological state of the crew, whose members refused to obey the orders of the command to patrol the Dnieper Estuary”
and …
in Nicaragua:
“Personnel, ships and aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can enter to participate in training and exercises, as well as humanitarian aid operations, search and rescue and rescue operations in emergency situations or natural disasters ,” El Pais reports.
To be honest, we need a bit less hatred and a bit more taking the mickey.
Why is the DPR so keen to shoot those English blokes, really?
1. they don’t appear to be knobheads who ran out to join the fight, they seem to have deeper commitments to the country, such that there should have been a case made that they are regular combatants. ON grounds of fairness, (I don’t like them as I’ve seen them on video or their reported actions personally)
2. Would it not be better to bill the U.K. government some large of money in the international court and make us pay to take these people back? (Obviously you get to humilate them on national T.V. First. Maybe a “bumming” would be appropriate, or something involving rotten eggs or vegetables hurled at them by civilians that they shot at?)
I am having a lot of diffculty getting my head around the notion that if you shoot up peoples homes and smash up the infrastructure as a government employee of your own country, that is semehow O.K. (or “noble” even!) but if you do exactly the same thing for a foreign government you are suddenly Evil, or more despicable than the govt employee..
The issue is whether nationalism is an institution that should be supported. For a country to exist it has to treat its own population different than outsiders. Otherwise it just becomes an empty idea with no expression.
Steve C, it’s not about more evil or more despicable, the distinction between mercs and nations’ soldiers is a legal one.
As with many/most laws practicality and/or common sense doesn’t come in to the equation.
Personally I make no distinction between mercs, Ukranian military personnel, or NATO ‘advisors’; to me they are all equal as bottom of the barrel scum.
I kind of agree but with the caveat that if they were getting paid the same as the locals, conscripts or volunteers, then they should be treated the same. If they were drawing adventurers wages my sympathy thins somewhat.
I don’t think they are keen to shoot them, it is just the best starting position to see how the UK and Morocco react. But I don’t doubt they will shoot them if Lizz Truss keeps acting like an idiot.
At least one of them seems to have a Ukranian wife/girlfriend so he could be considered a regular POW but before he was fighting in Syria so you could call it belated karma.
This way it is also the best deterrent for other “soldiers of fortune”, together with their own stories and stories from the ones that fled already. This is no first person shoot em up game like Afghanistan but something deadly serious for both sides.

According to reports flooding the Internet, the Nazi army is on the ropes.
The Ukraine is malicious NATO proxy state. It’s continued existence provides US/NATO with a Trojan Horse from which to threaten Russia.
But now, Russia is almost in position to annihilate the Nazi army. Russia must strike while the cauldron is hot. The Nazi military must be decapitated.
The Ukraine must and will be destroyed.
For me when the RF have achieved their SMO objectives and the dust has settled, an independent and thorough investigation needs to be undertaken of the Red Cross, OCSE and others such as UNICEF. The Red Cross has done anything but what it is there to do that is to provide medical aid and support, assist with humanitarian corridors and ensure the legal treatment of POWS, victims of crimes and any other detainees. Instead of which, they have been transporting millions of dollars around, transporting UAF soldiers around and failing to assist with the humanitarian corridors. UNICEF claims to be providing humanitarian aid since 2014 but it isn’t there on the ground. The RF are providing that. All international funding should cease for these organisations until a thorough investigation has been carried out. Their Gravy Train has to be derailed and stopped.
The Red Cross as an organisation is an absolute disgrace and traitors to their own charter.
In Australia for instance they raked in millions of dollars of donations for bushfire victims and to date have disbursed almost none of it and now they are asking for donations for flood victims.
Shameless scum.
All charities deliver less than 10% to their cause, some less than 1%. Common knowledge if one makes oneself aware of it. The majority of money donated goes to salaries and building upkeep and maintenance. They love their Castles charities do…..
Shameless scum….you are so kind, I’d have other words for them unfit to print.
Cheers M
Important video from the liberated territories in Kherson from Patrick Lancaster. He talks to a lot of people in one town about whether they want to be part of Russia or stay part of Ukraine.
I think like in most civil wars (and don’t be fooled this is an inter-Russian civil war) the people side with the winner. The nationalists had 30 years to propagandize people against Russia. And it worked on some of the younger ones. If they had had another 30 years it might have worked on almost everyone. But now they won’t have that extra time. And like the two last interviews said, it is all about the jobs. When Russia is able like they’ve done in Crimea to help with people’s standard of living they will have fully won.
Another key point that a couple of people talked a little about in the video,is where people were from (or their parents were from). Are they from a Western Ukrainian family of Russia haters. Or are they local Russian speaking people. That will say a lot about who will be easier to trust and who won’t be trust worthy,at least at first.Like one of the people interviewed said, there were a lot of people from Western Ukraine that moved over the years to the Russian speaking regions (there were more and better jobs there). And when they moved there they brought that anti-Russian culture with them. They are the base of the pro-Bandera,pro-Ukraine minority in those regions. When the Russians start issuing new papers to all the residents they need to determine who is who there. I’d ask where they were born, and where their parents where born. While you can’t be certain of loyalties from that,it gives a good ground to start on:

“…Are they from a Western Ukrainian family of Russia haters.”
Ukrainian nationalism and language will likely be accommodated as much as possible after the SMO has ended, because it can’t be erased. That Ukrainian identity is there by degrees. If Russia is unpopular because of it, this is normal and it’s similar to what happens in countless countries. That’s why also Medvedev is wrong with his “I hate them” message. Even if that’s a widespread personal feeling, it’s irrelevant. There is no way to distinguish between that normal feeling and “hate.” If you go on a “witch hunt” so to speak, you will increase the hate. I think Putin knows that such feelings are accommodated, not erased (the rest is obvious).
You mistake “Ukrainian language” with West Ukrainians. There have always been people that speak dialects of West Russian (now claimed as Ukrainian) in those rural areas. The common term for those dialects is Surzhyk. That is different than with West Ukrainians that moved to those regions during and especially after the 1950’s to find jobs and a higher standard of living in those richer areas. Since independence in 1991 they have tried to impose their standard of “Ukrainian” in those regions. Those days are most likely ending for them. They can now either join with the new times. Or they can move back to West Ukraine. What they must not do is try to fight against Russia. If they do their fate will not be a happy one. They aren’t all that popular among the Russian speaking majority already with their pro-Bandera leanings. And it’s a certainty that there would be many people more than happy to report on them to the new authorities. It’s not likely those authorities will play with them over over any anti-Russian actions. So Russia needs to know who is who in those regions to be able to get an idea of what to expect from the different people there.
Medvedev is ignored, all has been ignored, but this is not ignored. It was not made this clear before. The Russians have helped by being candid on this issue, but not too much. For example, Lavrov said only once that the sanctions idea was “dumb” or “stupid” – just like that, soon after they were first enacted. I remember because I said, “Thank you.” He never again said it until maybe recently. During his long subsequent silence, he must have restrained himself by thinking, “I’m not helping them anymore!” It wasn’t his job to help like that. Sure enough, the sanctions did not work and even had the opposite effect. It is reasonable to conclude that they even caused the SMO (not the only cause of it). The sanctions made things “worse.” Putin and Lavrov have not yet said, and I guess never will say, “Thank you very much for your sanctions” (Putin has come close to saying it). That’s what they think, though.
“Putin shrugs off Western sanctions over the Ukraine war, saying ‘it’s impossible to fence off a country like Russia'”

TOP GUN MOVIE SPOILER ALERT
Su-57’s were featured as the enemy’s front-line fighter but of course in Hollywood fashion Mav evades and destroys them. Maybe their publicized combat action in the Ukrainian theatre at the same time as the movie release is coincidental but maybe not.
It grabbed my attention when the fighter plane broke the hypersonic speed of Mach 10 during training, and because of Maverick reached 10.3. I could not help thinking of hypersonic weapons at that moment. They said “hypersonic” more than once. Wasn’t the mission conducted at Mach 10 at the beginning or end of it? The real “supersonic” world is like this:
“The Defense Department has decided not to fix an issue limiting the Navy’s and Marine Corps’ F-35 variants’ ability to fly at supersonic speeds. Flying at those speeds for extended periods risks structural damaged to the aircraft’s tail section, so the Pentagon is imposing a time limit on high-speed flight.” – businessinsider.com
From another article:
“NASA’s X-43 experimental craft is one of the fastest aircraft in the world, capable of achieving High-Hypersonic speeds of around Mach 9.6, or 12,100 kilometers an hour (7,520 MPH) at altitudes of more than 30,000 meters (98,400 ft).”
Maybe they will show this movie in Moscow one day (cringe). Trump actually said “we” have hypersonic missiles that fly at “Mach 8” during the 2020 campaign. He just has not seen them. In Spanish, people say they’re Chinese to avoid embarrassment. With good reason, that’s what I would say in Moscow after the movie, “No, I’m from China.”

#Azovstal is still being searched. A pile of partially burned phones revealed videos of #AzovBattalion torturing and murdering women and children.
The Vineyard has not seen anything from Scott Ritter since March 22, even though he has more information than any other purely military analyst I’ve been reading. Scott Ritter has been around for over 20 years, so his biases are well known.
I believe Scott Ritter is being shunned on the Vineyard because he woke up one day and realized that NATO is working on what he calls a game-changer by rebuilding the UAF with modern weapons and by intensively training UAF soldiers in the territory of Poland and Germany. He was careful to explain his distinction that even though this could change the game, it will not change the outcome. A quick summary is at https://www.unz.com/mwhitney/scott-ritters-switcheroo-why-i-radically-changed-my-overall-assessment/
I guess some people got too anxious to understand what Ritter said. Every cohesive group has a tendency to form a cheering squad and banish unpleasant thoughts. However, this is at cross-purposes with the Vineyard, where people need to understand the full truth, no matter what it is.
Scott Ritter is nearly the only person to note that:
1. Russia has refrained from using electronic warfare, unlike Syria and Georgia. That suggests Russia may have new developments which they want to keep under wraps for now. This, and the fact that only 10-15% of Russia’s military are involved in the SMO, are strong hints that the Kremlin has prepared for – and perhaps expects – NATO to escalate the conflict. In other words, Russia is maintaining “escalation dominance” even though, or rather especially because, it is going cautiously.
2. Russia has revived an old military strategy called a “slow offensive”, as an adaptation to the much greater lethality of the modern battlefield. Obviously Russia has no need to hurry …
3. He is the only person I’ve seen discussing not merely the rumor of three Polish special forces battalions operating in the Ukraine, but actually gets into what that would mean. He says this would be “a gift to Putin”, because the Kremlin only got a mandate from the Duma for the three goals of the SMO, and that does not authorize attacking outside Ukraine. Ritter notes that Putin is a lawyer by training and by reflexes, so he only proceeds with legal authorization. But if Poland over-reaches by putting its army in Ukraine, that could trigger a spontaneous Russian counter-attack, or the Duma’s approval would be thunderous. Scott Ritter dispassionately considers how the Kremlin needs strong Russian approval, and he considers what the Kremlin must do to keep that support. I saw a Levada Center poll (Western funded) which says Russian support for the SMO has risen to 89%, but I don’t recall if Scott Ritter mentioned that.
4. Ritter is not alone in discussing how drones have transformed warfare, but he raised an old issue
which was lost in the SMO coverage. Effective drones can cost as little as $250, and it’s self-defeating to destroy them with $20,000 missiles. So that’s why Russia has brought out laser anti-drone weapons. So the transformation is still evolving.
Military Summary on Youtube gives a kilometer-by-kilometer view of the front lines. Andrei Martyanov gives the view from 50,000 feet, and I watch all their videos, but I find Scott Ritter gives me more useful insights.
Scott Ritter’s Youtube sessions are long because he has a lot to cover, but they are not long-winded.

“…a game-changer by rebuilding the UAF with modern weapons and by intensively training UAF soldiers in the territory of Poland and Germany. He was careful to explain his distinction that even though this could change the game, it will not change the outcome.”
I didn’t know Scott Ritter made that distinction. Why didn’t Larry Johnson (his defender at the time) emphasize that, or even mention it? The point in that “hot potato” Sitrep with 460+ comments was that the outcome was now uncertain to him because of more money or weapons and more training. In other words, the TV Generals, ex-ambassadors and pundits had been more or less realistic in saying that Russia was losing and might lose. Ex-ambassador McFaul said on MSNBC more than two weeks ago that Ukraine had already won, the “last battle” was being fought; Ritter was now moving towards where they were. If in fact he carefully explained that it would not change the outcome, I could have taken his side that day (chuckle).
The longer the SMO drags on, with longer range artillery from NATO coming into Ukraine, the smaller the Ukraine will get. Every dead Russian soldier means Russia will keep advancing, otherwise Russians will continue to die, Donbas Ukrainians also.
I don’t see any de escalation of beligerance from Ms Elinsky, so a ten million man army will not change Russia’s goal.
Cheers M
The quick summary I linked gives an extensive quote from Scott Ritter on this distinction. I suggest you save your time – and ours – by skimming that summary. But if you want the long version, it’s in several of RItter’s more recent videos.
Ritter:
“And this is why I have radically changed my overall assessment”
“‘The military aid the west is providing to Ukraine is changing the dynamic and if Russia doesn’t find a way to address this meaningfully… the conflict will never end.’”
Russia said it would end. Most people here have believed or known that it will end because Ukraine is too weak for Russia.
Ritter:
“The Germans were bled white and they were stopped and turned back. If Russia doesn’t change the calculation, then that is the trajectory we are heading on.”
That’s a change of outcome statement. You said that he had not questioned the outcome, but this says the Russians could be turned back like the Germans were.
“…unless Russia broadens its special military operation […] this is a conflict that is dangerously close to becoming unwinnable by Russia”.
This is a clear allusion to outcome. It says Russia cannot win unless it broadens the SMO. The outcome of the SMO is now in question. The quotes below show the same thing:
“Whenever you provide your enemy with “safe space” to rebuild military capability, you’re never going to win”. “…if Russia doesn’t change the dynamic, Russia will be bled dry.” “So, I see what has been happening in the last few weeks as being decisive.”
Let’s go back to what you said here, cosimo:
“It seems to be a canard, actually putting words into his mouth, to claim Ritter is “telling the Kremlin what to do”. […] I haven’t seen anywhere that he said, “Here’s what they have got to do… and aren’t doing it. Again, if he said that somewhere, please point us to a source. ”
You can see the quotes (above) are from your linked summary. Ritter tells the Kremlin what it must do to win, and he tells them that they are not doing it.
A quick answer: “…. it will not change the outcome ???”. Most people forget that it has been cleaned subsequently and it will not change the outcome in the Donbass .. the initial message very clear. But .. be careful – NATO is building this million man army, the western arms are getting through to the frontlines in the Ukraine etc etc. The clear message was Be Scared of NATO. That is why he lost friends. He was invited to speak to his peers, he did not do that.
People that did not understand the issues in-depth, could not understand the outcry. And they still cannot.
And now he is telling the Kremlin what to do. Huh? We’ve seen too much of that.
The clear message was Be Scared of NATO. That is why he lost friends.
I don’t understand the distinction, if there is any, between “being scared of NATO”, and being careful of NATO’s fangs and claws. I haven’t seen Ritter saying Russia needs to shrink away in fear, but if you have seen it, can you please point me to it ? Taking in context the 4+ hours I’ve heard, Ritter doesn’t seem to be proposing any Russian retreat, but rather he is giving us a premonition that NATO plans serious escalation. Of course he’s far from being the only serious analyst who says that and it’s hardly a point which should be dismissed out of hand.
He was invited to speak to his peers, he did not do that. Was there some back-channel where he rebuffed people ? What happened, and with whom ?
It seems to be a canard, actually putting words into his mouth, to claim Ritter is “telling the Kremlin what to do”. Like any analyst, he lays out what he sees as Russia’s options, but I haven’t seen anywhere that he said, “Here’s what they have got to do… and aren’t doing it.” Again, if he said that somewhere, please point us to a source. I don’t mean to be lazy and suggest someone else do the hard work, but if he really said something so spectacularly stupid, then I’d hope you would remember approximately where and when.
There are a lot of silly people trying to suggest Russia’s leaders have screwed up, and it takes time for a non-Russian to figure out the silliness. And yes, such suggestions would be an exercise in hubris. But there is one Russian who appears often on the Vineyard, a man whom I used to respect and I read two or three of his books. But then this happened: He admitted to having written from August 2021 to February 2022, and against the advice of many Russians for those months, that the Kremlin should have just abandoned the Ukraine to the West. So that makes the SMO a big mistake in his eyes. This is so absurd, I’m done with the guy, and making suggestions to the Kremlin is the least of it.
Sorry Cosimo .. I’m just not prepared to debate this again because it is not important.
There is a serious dissonance and even lack of true coherence, and I guess people will have to find out for themselves. The understanding of the broader milieu is also lacking.
Also, if we read the tea leaves correctly, the Ukraine is now being thrown under the bus from all those that told all all these months that they are winning! The Ukraine is being abandoned and things are heating up China sea side.
Which serious dissonance are you referring to ? Missing details about Scott Ritter ? Something else ?
It is important when a serious analyst is banned for disagreeing on trivial grounds. Where does this shunning end ? Will dissonant voices be picked off one by one ? Will we refuse the work of digging for the truth ?

I think she’s not answering you, but I did higher up, specifically.
I don’t know, is this an okay message?
I guess Germany is as the saying goes “cruisin for a bruisin” by sending heavy weapons to Kiev on June 22 (anniversary of the Barbarossa 1941 start date). They know the symbolism of that date. And so does the the repulsive Kiev nazi ambassador who announced it. I figure he was trolling both Moscow and Berlin by doing that. Trying to enrage Russia at Germany (check),and force Berlin to side even more with the Kiev nazis out of fear of Russian revenge on them (foolish Germans,if they think that would save them). Germany and NATO will need to pay a heavy price for shipping weapons for nazis to try and kill Russians. I’m just not sure yet if Russia will make their punishment be in money or lives,or both money and lives:
Ukraine to get heavy German arms on symbolic date
https://www.rt.com/russia/556996-ukraine-get-german-arms-date/
Sending heavy weapons to Ukraine? Maybe Germany needs to have its memory refreshed? “Soviet Storm World War II in the East–Operation Bagration” showing films of 1000 German officer POW and thousands of German POW enlisted men being paraded through the streets of Moscow should do it. I’m sure the Russians haven’t forgotten but seems that Olaf Scholz has.
This is my opinion regarding Gilbert Doctorow’s recent article, “Building a Lasting Settlement for Ukraine”. It is an interesting proposal, likely however to be rejected by Russia’s enemies. He proposes that in 10-20 years a decision would be made by plebiscite, whether the regions Donbass, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, and Nikolayev should return to Ukraine or not. In the meantime they would be demilitarized.
https://nationalinterest.org/feature/building-lasting-settlement-ukraine-202920
There are two problems with this: First, it does not take into account the level of enmity in the West. The Russian bear, as it were, having been poked once too often, is unlikely to agree to a settlement of this nature, considering the West to be “agreement incapable”. There will be 10-20 years of fancy tricks and dissimulation where a small amount of good faith would be necessary. The enmity between East and West will continue to magnify the ethnic tensions within Ukraine as they have been and will continue to be instrumentalized.
In the meantime those living there would be in a state of limbo, building up enterprises and political parties, rebuilding the cities, not knowing whether they will in future be allied with Kiev or Moscow or independent. This would be a great amount of uncertainty. You cannot make an egg out of an omelette.
Henry Kissinger’s warning against bloc-building and a new cold war notwithstanding, experience has shown that partnering with the West is not a good idea for the Russian Federation. Western enmity expressed in all fields makes this impossible.
Lacking a comprehesive security agreement, the precedent has now been set that Western weapons arriving in Ukraine will be destroyed by military means. Lacking adherence to the Minsk Agreements after 7 years of delay and bad faith, lacking human rights protection for the Russian speaking population in Ukraine, the aforementioned oblasts are best incorporated into the Russian Federation or made independent, according to the wishes of the population there.
The Special Military Operation will soon be over and it will not be necessary to have a settlement, only a ceasefire.
Meanwhile rebuilding relations between Russia and the rest of Europe will take much more than 10-20 years. There is no-one in sight such as Willy Brandt and Egon Bahr who with their Ostpolitik changed the course of European history leading even to the breakup of the Soviet Union. Their work has been shattered by today’s mediocre Western leaders. Russia can no longer be expected to please the West and to ignore its own existential interests.
Hello, fans of Saker. As promised, I have finally got to work on my Magnum opus about the Donbas conflict. I still have my usual problem of getting this kind of thing through the shadow ban.
The most effective method is shown to be, post the links on forums like this, where people are interested in the topic. You read and I will get get back to work on part 2. https://yaxls.wordpress.com/2022/06/12/the-donbas-story/
I visited, looks good.
