Prepared by Saker Staff
From the Russian Mod: “Thanks to unprecedented measures taken by the leadership of the Russian Federation, with the active participation of representatives of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, humanitarian operation to evacuate civilians from Azovstal plant is now complete.”
There still are rumors of high level military in the plant but humanitarian corridors are closed. A group of reportedly about 1,000 soldiers walked out with white flag. The Russians have taken into custody enough people now to be able to stitch together who else is down there. We wait, with a good level of inquisitiveness, for some perp walks.
From the Field: The settlement of Popasna under full control – this is a Big Deal.
A very important strategic settlement, the capture of which breaks the first, most powerful line of defense of Ukraine in the Donbass. We have the first videos from refugees detailing their struggle: https://t.me/intelslava/28203
Take a look at this map and it should not be hard to understand why this is a Big Deal.
Snake Island 🐍 near Odessa: not even a little help from our ‘NATO colleagues’ could save the snake and the Russian Mod reports 💥 Near Zmeinyi Island (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/1398) the following have been shot down in the air: 1 Ukrainian Su-24 bomber, 1 Su-27 fighter jet, 3 Mi-8 helicopters with paratroopers and 2 Bayraktar-TB2 UAV. The Ukrainian amphibious assault boat Stanislav has also been destroyed. This is a Big Deal.
A series of Warnings from the Russian Mod:
On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the many military parades, we can expect Ukie action.
⚠️ Ukrainian armed formations have mined the dam of Kurakhovskaya thermal power plant reservoir (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/1403) in Pokrovskiy district of the Donetsk People’s Republic, which the nationalists plan to blow up, blaming “allegedly advancing units of the Russian troops”.
⚠️ The Kiev regime carried out yet another sophisticated actionIn Seversk and Serebryanka settlements of the Donetsk People’s Republic (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/1402) to discredit the Russian Armed Forces before the world community. During the provocation, fighters of nationalist battalions dressed in Russian uniforms and driving armoured vehicles with “Z” sign fired on private houses, forcibly took valuables and personal vehicles from people, and physically assaulted civilians who showed the slightest resistance.
Yesterday was a catastrophic day for the Zelensky regime forces:
►Disaster at Snake Island
►Popasnaya lost to the RF
►Azovstal civilian hostages freed
So now Zelensky wants to go all Samson on his own country—with chemicals.
Bastard. Simple as that: Bastard. https://t.co/L9z5DbosUP
— Gonzalo Lira (@GonzaloLira1968) May 8, 2022
Nevertheless, plans and rehearsals for the parades are ongoing: Dress rehearsal (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/1376) of a military parade was held in Moscow.
Intel Slava Z has the minute details for today, as well as Readovka.
The captured Chief of Staff of the Ukraine has this to say: “Ukraine could make concessions in order to end the conflict, the main points are a regime without NATO and a guarantee of non-aggression,” Colonel Dmitry Kormyankov, captive chief of staff of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
And is this a signal or was Pyotr Tolstoy just musing about the Polish border?:
“Russia’s military operation in Ukraine won’t end until the country is “completely denazified and demilitarized, so that it no longer poses a threat to the Russian Federation and cannot be transformed into an anti-Russia, as the West has tried to do in the past 30 years,” says (https://www.repubblica.it/esteri/2022/05/03/news/russia_intervista_pjotr_tolstoj-348021441/) deputy speaker of Russian parliament Pyotr Tolstoy.
“I think we will stop once we reach the border with Poland,” added the lawmaker, who is also the great-great-grandson of acclaimed Russian writer Leo Tolstoy.
The collective west supplies Rubbish!
Becoming more clear now is that the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are using the conflict in Ukraine in order to get rid of obsolete and decommissioned weapons. Rubbish is being brought to the Ukraine, and then the Russians destroy it. This is now obvious. The disgusting quality of the Javelin anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) supplied by the United States and the Swedish-British portable anti-tank guided missiles NLAW were recently reported by a prisoner – a former soldier of the Ukrainian army.
Vadim Zholko, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: “Their Javelin and NLAW grenade launchers, which were very much advertised, showed themselves in practice as they really were. There were misfires. They usually shoot one out of four, ”said the prisoner. The fired projectiles explode at fifty meters before reaching the target, or do not work at all. “That is, there were many of those whose batteries were expired,” the prisoner of war shared his impression of what he saw. The man complained that the training at the training grounds was mainly theoretical – “they showed it in a fast way.” Why misfires regularly occur was not explained to recruits. The reason became clear during the fighting – most of the batches of weapons had an expired shelf life. Cheaper NLAW complexes also turned out to be far from perfect.
Bloomberg reported that Kyiv is losing a week-long supply of weapons every day.
This all indicates that we will see more fighting in spots, but then, seemingly, it will all fall down and the Ukrainian forces will simply stop firing.
The information war is not neglected by Russia, although they fumble. On Friday, the permanent Russian staff to the UN held an informational meeting (Arria Formula) for the UN Security Council. It was not Hollywood (Nebenzya is a serious man, but he is not an actor!). It was heart-wrenching. The outcome is that the UN Security Council could do no less, they were unable to maneuver out of this one and had to agree to a statement to search for a peaceful solution. Even with the United States holding the chairmanship this month, this united action could not be forestalled. As the cauldrons tighten around the fighting Ukrainians, so the cauldrons are tightening around the actions of the very small united west.
This is the presentation: https://media.un.org/en/asset/k1p/k1pvngjn8e
Is this worth anything? Yes, because these countries now cannot say they did not know. This is the list of 15 countries. Hold them to account!
Thanks, what happened to Nightvision’s sitreps?
do not know, no contact … mod
Good question vector, repeatedly raised btl and the lack of an answer is simply fuelling unease amongst many of us here.
The summary of the defeat of the attack on snake island is all well and good but surely the big deal is how on earth the ‘navyless’ ukraine forces could have mounted this attack in the first place. Also what’s happening in kharkiv near the russian border where a counter attack by the nazis appears to gather pace with impunity. And a ‘1000’ azov surrendered with a white flag? Really? and how was it possible (if colonel cassad’s sitreps are to be trusted) did ukrainian marines suddenly re-emerge as a threat which needed neutering at the ilyich plant which was apparently under russian control weeks ago?
Russia states that report is false, no one surrendered at Azovstal yesterday:
https://tass.com/world/1448313
They’re talking yesterday as far as I understand …
We have previous reports .. this one is the first I can find from Intel Slava Z – May 7th.
https://t.me/intelslava/28158
🇷🇺🇺🇦❗️ An enemy group with a white flag entered the road leading from the bridge, where the evacuated civilians were received, deep into Azovstal – the Russian military moved forward to meet them as parliamentarians. The first personal contact since the blockade of Mariupol.
—
I don’t want to spend the time to go and look back but I remember also a report from Kadyrov – and perhaps even a video.
But things are moving fast and it does not help that we have more than one person reporting. This is from a rep from the “the Southern Military District”.
The situation around Kharkiv was covered a few days ago by this chap: https://odysee.com/@LandDestroyer:8 describing the tactical withdrawal of RF forces and the reasons why.
From what I can gather he is an ex-US Marine living and reporting from somewhere in the east. I find his presentations informative, well reasoned and in many ways confirming of what Andrei Martyanov reports but from a different viewpoint and sometimes covering different areas, such as in this instance Kharkiv.
He is in Thailand. Brian Berletic, aka Tony Cartalucci. He’s written for a variety of outlets under both names. Recently had his acct. on twatter closed.
Fair enough arthur; fog of war and all that; i’m usually hesitant to weigh in like this, but given the er existential and millenial nature of this conflict and it’s context, i’ve been unnerved about the direction of travel recently. Russia losing or being drawn into a quagmire are not options i can contemplate with equanimity! Best wishes to all!
The only “semi-official” answer implies that cessation of his sitreps was his own decision.
I find it interesting that The Saker leaves for a while and suddenly, no Nightvision updates.
Perhaps he took time off. Or perhaps he just got fed up with doing it. Or perhaps site management has other priorities.
What is site management up to. Do they not owe us an explanation?
do not know about nightvision, no contact … mod
Dear bloggers,
What do you want nightvision to report? We are in a softening-up lul. Yes except artillery strikes happening at a faster pace than the West could logistically wise sustain ( okay maybe USA could because of because of there humongous military budget) there is nothing much going on. But do not forget that this continuous artillery strikes are 75% of the morale decline of the ukranianazis. They preserve Russian military and prepare the adversary for defeat. I am sure once we shift to the faster part of phase two ( the crumbling of a demoralised army ) the 48 hours sit reps will come back. So be patient but do not be like the Israelites on the West Bank watching sniping of Palestijns. We are on the moral high ground and no matter what suffering even from nazi’s is suffering off part humanity which we should not enjoy. My 2 cents.
I think people are wondering what happened – if Nightvision is taking a break or perhaps, currently busy or traveling, or has some personal/family issues to attend to, or if he just decided to stop writing reports – that we wish he would tell the moderators or say something in himself in regards to why his reports have stopped.
Before he was a featured writer, he was just a commentor, but one who would write much longer replies than most. Suddenly he became of report writer. And now suddenly he has gone quiet.
I don’t know if this comment will get pst the censors on this blog. But there’s possibility here. We know that The Saker lives in the US. Nightvision may live in the US too. Things are getting very scary here. It’s worse than the McCarthy era. I lived thru those times. Then you had the very anchor of the CBS Evening (Radio) News, Edward R. Murrow, took on McCarthy. And the network stood behind him. Now we only have Tucker Carlson. And now only sometimes. Good people are getting de-platformed. PayPal has now refused to process donations to Consortium News. Assange will soon stand trial here for publishing fact-based truth. Obama used his Harvard Law training to bring back the 1917 Espionage Act. Honest truth speakers may soon follow Assange to prison. Perhaps The Saker and Nightvision are exercising the better part of valor in discretely removing themselves till September. Things in the Donbass should be clearer then. We certainly don’t want to lose them. But they or the staff of The Vinyard should tell us if that is their motivation. Their sudden disappearance can be demoralizing.
I’m rather appalled and disgusted by how these “demands” regarding Nightvision’s sitreps seem arrogant, insensitive, and immature. This blog is built on contributions, be it time, money or knowledge. This, as far as I know, also applies to the blog staff. People do what they can.
It seems to me that people like Arvy and vector have already contributed something to the blog and now feels entitled to get what they want. As far as I know, though, these contributions don’t buy us anything. It is only for allowing the blog to stay up and running. So, I don’t think there is any entitlement whatsoever.
I may be wrong here, and the Saker or the blog staff can correct me, if needed. I’m not part of the staff, and my contributions here are very modest, most of them being comments like this. But I’m very, very grateful to all those that contributes to keep this blog informative. It seems unfair to b*tch around if ones does not get what they want.
People who feel there is not enough information can always do one of at least two things. They can either commit to write informative, truthful and valuable posts or sitreps, or walk away to another site (there are plenty which are chokeful of information, only perhaps not true or informative ones).
Sorry for the rant. It’s only that, for me, the demands seems too unfair.
Again, fair comment; i do not know nightvision’s personal situation; bottom line is we all gained so much here from those sitreps and i hope nightvision’s safety hasn’t in anyway been compromised
Thank you HC spot on
Certainly no need to apologise, HC. Speculation about volunteer contributors is ever so tiresome.
As for the Sitrep itself, I see little reason to panic about what the Russian Armed Forces are, and are not ATM doing. Almost all of what is in this Sitrep pretty much gels with what I’m seeing from a range of contributors elsewhere. Differences are mostly at the margins.
Anyway, I tend to look for kernels wherever I go, particularly kernels pointing to panic on the other side of the ‘argument’. Here we have;
“Bloomberg reported that Kyiv is losing a week-long supply of weapons every day.”
From elsewhere, yesterday;
Boris Johnson: “Military aid to Ukraine is no longer enough to defend it”
“German Chancellor Scholz stated the following: “Fear should not paralyze us. Putin will not win the war”‼️
His SS grandfather would be so proud of him”
“G7 leaders declared their intention to “prevent Russia from winning” in Ukraine”
While Johnson seems to have slipped dangerously close to ‘Realism’, and as he does – maybe – wonders what he might try next to distract his ‘own people’ from the REALITY of Britain now being in freefall e.g. 10+% inflation, ‘with a bullet’, as they say, with ’22 and ’23 forecast – by his own BoE – to have a -ve sign in front of their GDP ‘progress’, it would seem the G7 are still struggling to advance beyond ‘declared intentions’, and Scholz is likewise stuck in Fantasyland, as his own industrlal base screams about the death of the German ‘industrial economy’.
And, while they continue to wallow in the delusions of Fantasyland, the Russians remind them of the harshest reality of all;
“President of the Russian Space Agency: “If there is a nuclear war, we will wipe out NATO countries from the world in 30 minutes.”
Certainly not something I desire to see, but someone has to get these bloviating imbeciles to Wake TF Up – to the harshest of all realities – and pronto.
All said and done, this remains at its core a contest between the neolib/neocon ideologues, and sovereignty realists.
Pepe Escobar and Michael Hudson, among others, obviously understand this.
I hope he is okay. I wish him all the best, and I am grateful for the good sitreps he wrote.
And of course,I am grateful for the sitreps from “the staff”!
Nightvision is a military man. The United States is at war (de facto) with Russia. War propaganda is apparently an important weapon. He may have been silenced, i. e. had a conversation with someone or whatever it is that they do in the US or the UK or wherever. Or thought this might happen. Or he may have been harassed privately. Or he may have said as did Prof. Michael Brenner, “what’s the use?” There is also fatigue. We wish him well.
“It is manifestly obvious that our society is not capable of conducting an honest, logical, reasonably informed discourse on matters of consequence. Instead, we experience fantasy, fabrication, fatuousness and fulmination.”
https://consortiumnews.com/2022/05/06/listen-american-dissent-on-ukraine-dying-in-darkness/
We must be patient and wait for the truth to appear, or be allowed to appear. Here in Europe it seems that many sheeple are sceptical. I see this in private conversations as well in readers’ comments on some mainstream websites. Inconsistencies are apparent.
Our local military expert Marcel Berni (ETH Zurich) had a talk with the local tabloid blick.ch yesterday. I had the impression that his portrayal of events is aligned with that of his professional colleagues in other countries. That’s what counts I suppose.
The prevailing dogmas will fade away if we are patient. The earth is no longer flat. Paraphrasing Heidegger: Truth is an ambiguous process alternating between revelation and concealment. Being does not bow before anyone.
Can truth be purchased with 33 billion dollars? Would that be a good deal in the short or long term?
I hope nightvision is ok and returns.
Nightvision’s sitreps were very high quality.
I am not a military expert; I am in the “communications” business, and that is my reaction.
Clear language. Lots of detailed information concerning multiple positions and issues, maps, intelligent explanations and discussion, not ego-invested in being right.
Very unusual.
I hope he is safe, whoever and wherever he is.
And I hope he provides more sitreps soon.
Two things:
One. Nightvision is/was a good news aggregator. He did this blog a service by scouring the Internet for information and putting them together for readers of the Vineyard.
Removed. No attacking other authors as per the rules. Thx. Mod.
The Vineyard is the only blog that presents a wide variety articles that deal with geopolitical and military matters — politics, diplomacy, economic, social, religious and military. The width of subjects presented on this blog, most times several at a go, is unmatched. All this for the benefit of its readers.
Is it too much for readers to repay the service provided by the blog’s (unpaid) staff to be considerate and polite?
The Saker is on a sabbatical and in the meantime Amarynth, Herb, the Translation Team and the Mods are doing an excellent job in maintaining the blog — again, for the readers’ benefit, for nothing.
@HC, you don’t have to apologise for your comments. They are spot-on.
I just wanted to say that analyses would be much improved if the RF military operation in the Ukraine is looked at as a joint operation, which is what it is — like a well-trained orchestra playing a beautiful and stirring concert piece (for some reason Tchaikovsky’s 1812 comes to mind) led by a talented and experienced conductor, all playing to a well-rehearsed score sheet; all playing in unison, as a whole, where there is not a horn playing its own tune in isolation of the other instruments; and not a cannon fired that strays from the score.
I put up a prayer for him and Andrei Yesterday. I’m performing a special prayer today and will add them both again.
Thank you for the link to the Security Council meeting. I’m passing it along so that there will be wider knowledge of this.
vector, thanks for asking, and mod, thanks for the reply.
I’d been wondering myself. And I too certainly hope Nightvision is safe and sound.
For anyone video-challenged (like me), the Arria Format presentation by Nebenzya et al. is also available in transcript at https://russiaun.ru/en/news/arria_060522 (with embedded videos).
On a humorous note, since Poland’s President Duda recently declared he’d be “erasing” the border with Ukraine — https://southfront.org/polish-president-declared-erasure-of-borders-with-ukraine-preparing-for-war-with-russia/ — Pyotr Tolstoy’s remark, “I think we will stop once we reach the border with Poland,” could have *extremely* far-reaching consequences.
Happy Victory Day, all!
Thank you very much for this new sitrep, dear Saker staff! Your work, as always, is much appreciated.
I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering about NightVision and his extraordinary
sitreps, though. We haven’t heard (read) from him in quite a while… Is he okay?
They already indicated Nightvision does not contribute any more (hopefully that can change?). Anyway I value this new format also, but I liked his style and approach.
Videos are still be compiled at previously linked account –
https://www.bitchute.com/channel/nnwlaOOuDM1W/
As the kids say, “I’m old enough to remember” when UKR had a command post with a large screen to broadcast bayraker videos”
Now the poor spokesperson stands in front of a camo net with a flag on it in a basement.
If Javelin and NLAW are so rubbish, how has RF lost so many tanks?
They haven’t.
You are being spoonfed bullshit.
But I’ve seen them with my own eyes, up close, in person. As have countless friends of mine.
It’s that also propaganda?
Did you bring pictures?
“But I’ve seen them with my own eyes, up close, in person. As have countless friends of mine”.
Where? And when?
How can you have seen Russian tanks destroyed “up close, in person” without yourself being in combat? And if you were in combat, you would KNOW from your comrades what weapons are used.
Your whole comment sounds like bullshit.
From my understanding many Russian tanks were captured early in the special operation, but I didn’t notice mention of it at the time (though it could have been reported on the Russian channels, as I wasn’t following any Russian channels until several days after the S.O. started). Later when Russians retook, or were about to retake an area, the Ukrainians sent missiles which destroyed many of these tanks as well as some Ukrainians tanks. That is what Russians said and I remember coming across the mention of a large number of tanks (like 150) that had been caught but a couple weeks after it actually happened. Russians have complained about serious mistakes that were done in the early part of the campaign that costed them, but since then have adjusted tactics, though this adjustment means a slower pace and often no progress on many fronts.
Early in the action the RF had nil
Tank Formations in action. Ergo – RF Tanks couldn’t be captured.
Only with the advent of phase 2 did RF and Allied Amour Formations join the peacekeeping mission.
how do you know they haven’t? some claim 1000 and javelin and nlaw must contribute somewhat to this.
there is too much disinformation from both sides
Nah, the biggest Lies and BS comes from the West, sometimes they make mistakes also, as does the Russian Side, thats normal. All those supposed destroyed Tanks, there are a couple of Propaganda Videos by the Ukrainian Regime, 4-5 Videos, different topics (‘Belorus’ Soldier telling Belorussian Soldiers to stay at home, Woman tells of her heroic tales, US Soldier telling how they destroyed 5 Russian Tanks), all filmed in the same spot… Or Snake Island or Ghost of Kiev…
> how do you know they haven’t?
Because the western propaganda didn’t show any images.
Come on! The western propaganda goes up to showing images from previous years, from other places, or even straight virtual ones out of video games, yet they won’t take the occasion to show real images from real damage?
How do you know exactly that those destroyed tanks are Russian and not Ukrainian?
It’s now well known that Ukrainian ambush parties were behind enemy lines. Due to the maneuver warfare of the Russians, it was an easy task for small groups of Ukrainians to sneak into the Russian-controlled area and make ambushes.
They also do a huge PR campaign with such videos even if the destroyed vehicles amount to a dozen.
Propaganda. The only weapon that the west has that works every time. At least on their own people
The Ukrainians are fighting with a can of white spray paint. A Z on a demolished who know what.
Artillery
How many has rf lost?
How many has rf actually lost?
How many nlaws and javelin were launched per kill?
You CAN’T Make this up. We know the Ukrainians were decimated yesterday at Snake Island but just for laughs you have to read how it’s being reported in the USA. Looks like the Ghost of Kiev is alive and well:
Ukraine’s Best Fighter Jets Just Bombed The Hell Out Of The Russian Troops On Snake Island
David Axe, Forbes Staff – Yesterday 7:52 PM
The Ukrainian air force’s best fighter jets just staged a daring raid on the Russian force occupying Ukraine’s strategic Snake Island.
The raid marks a significant escalation of Ukraine’s air campaign targeting the Russian garrison on the island in the western Black Sea, 80 miles south of Ukraine’s strategic port Odessa.
For at least a week now, Kyiv’s propeller-driven TB-2 armed drones have been waging a relentless defense-suppression campaign over and around Snake Island. The satellite-controlled drones with their 14-pound missiles have knocked out at least three air-defense systems on the 110-acre island as well as two Russian patrol boats and a landing craft along the shore.
Destroying the air-defenses, along with any naval vessels attempting to reinforce the tiny island—with its single pier, helicopter landing pad and dozen or so structures—cleared a path for the twin-engine, supersonic Su-27s to strike on or before Saturday.
A TB-2 was nearby, watching with its gimbal-mounted camera, as the single-seat Sukhois—the Ukrainian air force’s fastest interceptors—streaked low over the island, dropping unguided bombs. Whatever Russian forces were left on the island after the drones did their work, the Su-27s apparently heavily damaged.
The raid is striking, and not just because the Ukrainian air force committed nearly a tenth of its remaining Su-27s to pull it off. The high-speed bombing also underscored the ongoing collapse of the Russian navy and supporting forces in the western Black Sea. Three weeks ago a Ukrainian anti-ship missile battery sank the cruiser Moskva, depriving the Russian Black Sea Fleet of its biggest warship and its most powerful air-defense asset.
Conmon sense. Snake Island is a tiny piece of land in the Black Sea that has little strategic value. It cannot host aeroplanes, has no capacity for refueling helicopters and can accomodate a few hundred soldiers at most. To suggest the Ukrainian air force would devote a tenth of its strength to striking it either demonstrates the obviously propoganda of the piece or the utter stupidity of the Ukie command. It is the former.
As soon as you see the name David Axe, you can safely ignore the article.
According to the Russian MOD, all of the attacking bombers and helicopters and many UAVs were shot out of the sky. Possibly, this was after some bombs hit their targets, but for the writer of the article to omit such an important fact speaks volumes about his honesty and reliability. How much damage was sustained by Russian forces remains uncertain.
The Russian MOD has released all the details in regard to Snake Island:
https://tass.com/defense/1448813
Russian forces foil Kiev’s attempt to seize Snake Island — top brass
“Due to professional steps by a unit of Russia’s Armed Forces on the island the Ukrainian provocation was foiled”, Major-General Igor Konashenkov said.
MOSCOW, May 9. /TASS/. Ukraine’s General Staff with direct participation of advisers from the US and the UK plotted provocation to seize Snake Island, but it was foiled by Russia’s forces, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said on Monday.
“Since May 7 at the direct order of Vladimir Zelensky the Ukrainian General Staff with the direct participation of advisers from the US and the UK had plotted a major provocation on seizing Snake Island . Due to professional steps by a unit of Russia’s Armed Forces on the island the Ukrainian provocation was foiled. The enemy sustained major losses,” Konashenkov said.
According to him, over the past two days the Kiev regime made several desperate attempts of carrying out an airborne and amphibious landing on Snake Island, which is of major importance for ensuring control over the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
More than 50 Ukrainian saboteurs were destroyed during an attempt to capture Snake Island and the bodies of 24 Ukrainian servicemen remain on the shore, Konashenkov said. “As a result of a foolish provocation [by Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky only during the landing and an attempt to establish a foothold on the island more than 50 Ukrainian saboteurs were destroyed. Twenty-four bodies of the killed Ukrainian servicemen remain on the shore of Snake Island,” Konashenkov stressed.
During the operation to repel attacks on the island, four Ukrainian aircraft were downed in the air, including three Su-24 and one Su-27, three Mi-8 helicopters with paratroopers onboard and one Mi-24 helicopter. Also during the airborne landing attempt on May 8 night three Ukrainian Project 58181 Centaur-class armored assault craft with Ukraine’s Navy personnel were destroyed.
Over the past two days, 29 Ukrainian drones were downed in the air, including eight Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicles. Four Bayraktar drones were shot down on Monday afternoon.”
Now we have all the facts – yet again Ukraine has lost. 50 people, many aircraft/helicopters and drones destroyed in this utter debacle. All they do is lie.
Thank you Saker Staff! Much appreciated
Dear Russian Bear
This is a very informative post.
I look forward to updates.
Keen to understand what defenses Russia has now, especially at sea. Striking moving targets seems to be a weakness. Striking fixed ones a strength. This brings into question defensive systems if NATO uses top pilots and planes.
Man, you sockpuppets are making it real easy to be spotted: Formulaic copypasta comment, injected offtopic to a random post, and it has the usual structure of “first appeal to ‘i’m on your side’, and then drop the payload in the form of seeding thinly veiled doubt’.
Those cheap sockposts have become far more common in the last week. It used to be western agents actually tried to fit in, familiarize themselves with the community, and then write intelligent, carefully crafted posts to seed propaganda.
What happened: You’re no longer sending your best guys, are you?
For some reason The Saker refused to post my earlier comments about the 3 low-level NSA operatives above. I don’t think I swore but referred to them as an LGBTQ+ tag-team of shirt-lifters, light on their toes.
Mod: please, be patient. Per the moderation rules, comments can’t use foul language, can’t have personal attacks and should aim for delivering useful information. Some comments are easy to review, others takes time to sort.
I agree with that,, we all should keep this place without considering the coments of those so evidente sockposts…
Do not let those cheap país spread their garbage here
Sitrep grade: Incomplete.
“The Ukrainian counteroffensive northeast of Kharkiv is making significant progress and will likely advance to the Russian border in the coming days or weeks. Russian forces may be conducting a limited withdrawal in the face of successful Ukrainian attacks and reportedly destroyed three bridges to slow the Ukrainian advance. Armies generally only destroy bridges if they have largely decided they will not attempt to cross the river in the other direction anytime soon; Russian forces are therefore unlikely to launch operations to retake the northeast outskirts of Kharkiv liberated by Ukrainian forces in the near future. Russian forces previously destroyed several bridges during their retreat from Chernihiv Oblast—as did Ukrainian forces withdrawing in the face of the Russian offensive in the initial days of the war.”
https://www.understandingwar.org/
Now I know the Institute for the Study of War is Neocon Central, but shouldn’t your sitrep at least mention Kharkov? Looks like the Russian army is going to reach its own border sooner than it gets to Poland’s.
I’m asking he same questions about Kharkov Cathy Young Fan… How can Sitrep ignore these developments?
And NightVision?
Which developments? The ones that we have one paragraph from Russian MOD? Wait a bit – nobody knows in reality.
You asked about Kharkiv?
Morning briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the special military operation:
▪️ During the night, the Aerospace Forces destroyed the command post of the Ukrainian mechanized brigade in the Kharkiv region and the communication center of the Chervonoglinskoye military airfield near the village of Artsyz.
▪️ destroyed in the Odessa region Project 1241 corvette of the Ukrainian Navys.
▪️ 130 military facilities of Ukraine, up to 420 nationalists, were hit by aviation, 55 units of military equipment were disabled.
▪️ At night, two more Ukrainian Su-24 bombers and one Mi-24 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force were destroyed over Zmeiny Island.
▪️ A Bayraktar-TB2 drone was shot down near Odessa.

“ During the night, the Aerospace Forces destroyed the command post of the Ukrainian mechanized brigade in the Kharkiv region “
Did anyone ask whether the Russians had blown up three bridges and were retreating towards the border.
@Cathy Young Fan
Since you have this information, you can post an update on this situation with evidence (links, statements etc.) Otherwise, we have to ignore it as BS.
How are any of these reported shoot-downs of Ukie jet fighters even possible, since all Ukie air fields and military air craft were supposed to have been totally destroyed in the first days of fighting? Scott Ritter was definitive about this at the time. If they are originating from Poland, destroy them with missiles. Poland has no gripes coming as they make themselves combatants if this is the origin of these planes and helos. Also, what is the origin of all these drones seriously impeding Russian actions? How are they smuggled across the border (which must be a sieve) if not launched from Poland or Turkey? Just destroy all the roads and railways within fifty miles of the Polish, Romanian and Moldovan frontiers. Blame the US and Nato for the escalation. What is the definitive status of the second Russian flagship supposedly sunk according to American sources (three days running on Drudge Report)? Martyanov calls bullshit. Everybody else just silent, like the American media when it wants to deny reality. If Putin needs to intensify the attacks to prevent such alleged losses, so be it. If Ukie dictator Zelensky chooses to be such a ruthless commander, even though it needlessly costs the lives of Ukie soldiers and civilian families used as human shields, Putin could wipe the smirk off his face by targeting the Ukie government and command centers in Kiev and Lvov with stand-off weapons. Name a target in Kiev or Lvov and tell Zelensky it will be reduced to ash within 10 minutes, and then make it happen. Repeat, lather, rinse as many times as necessary. Might actually kill a few deserving Nato interlopers and American colonels in the process. Don’t cry for me, Argentina.
Russians say that Ukraine jets are parked in Romania and Bulgaria, and they can’t rule out that some of them are operated by NATO personnel, as they think Ukraine lost a lot of its pilots.
But I also think reports of the Ukrainian airforce and it military facilities being totally destroyed was a major exaggeration and that Ukraine obviously moved a lot of planes out to surrounding countries.
There are articles being published in large western media with the Ukrainians boasting about their ability to hide the planes and (how they learned to) use roads to take off and land. They say they had prepared for this option for years: spread and hide. Although it does explain to some degree why they are still flying, it might also part of propaganda (look for us, find us, in the bush). And that indeed they fly in, low, from over the border. Maybe even on runways created their for that purpose.
John, you are spot on. Russia has declared they have control of the skies, that does not mean they destroyed every Ukraine plane. Consider the war in the former Yugoslavia, the MIG’s were hidden in underground caverns for most of the war. TIto built these in preparation of a possible Soviet Union invasion. During the war in Kosovo many of these underground caverns were also command and control posts that NATO bombing could not touch.
If this were true — can Ukr sustain the resupply of these troops on such an incursion?
The UA nazis of Kharkov seem to have no shortage of weaponry, and they are a very long way from Lviv / Poland.. This fog-of-war is messing with our heads..
If you want to understand what is happening North of Kharkov, one can figure out what is going on, even without much military experience. See map here:
https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/640/cpsprodpb/6E6A/production/_124366282_ukraine_invasion_east_map_russian_x2-nc.png
If you were Ukraine, looking for a vulnerable section of the Russian line to attack, and a cheap propaganda victory, like we just saw at Snake Island, where would you pick?
Hint: See the the little spit of pink territory to the north of Kharkov? These are known as “salients” in military language and are particularly vulnerable or predictable targets of attack.
That peninsula/salient was probably created accidentally when the Russian army group that attacked Kiev was withdrawn. And so the central army commanders either noticed it was vulnerable or they want to use the forces stationed there in attack farther south. Furthermore, if there were Ukrainian forces building up for a surprise May 9th assault, they have been deprived of a target and now also must move south, with little fuel and under Russian fire.
And as far as the Western story of a Ukrainian assault forcing them to retreat, they claimed the same when the Russians withdrew from Bucha.
What happened north of Kharkov is called tidying up the battlefield or shortening the lines. This happened all of the time during the Great Patriotic War on both the German and Russian sides. If the Russians are planning a huge assault in the Donbass they won’t want to be sending troops up there to defend that useless spit of land.
I would have made the same decision were I with the current Russian Stavka.
All IMHO

And if the Ukrainians reach the border and start shelling Belgorod, we can assume the salient-straightening explanation is no longer operative?
Who’s we? You’re just one Cathy Young fan.
RF has drawn AFU brigade into the open field and you know what fate awaits
To call The Institute for the Study of War for Neocon is red herring. It’s run by the champions of re-invention- wanting a new homeland.
Let’s just answer these usually first time posters with imperious demands that their little thing gets attention. I’ll write something at the end of this comment thread about what we saw in this commentary.
“Near Kharkiv, there are battles for small settlements. There was no significant advance of troops on either side today.”
So see, you were caught by a maneuver which you thought was important and you also thought you could demand to see what you wanted to see. Well, gotto get those eyes tested OK. And gotto read the extra credit links.
During Jom Kippur war Israel, Syria ja Egypt lost on average 4 soldiers killed per one lost tank. Tank losses were high, total 2,800 and according Garwych 11,000 soldiers were killed.
Russia has admitted some 2,000 battle deaths. Have they lost 500 tanks?
Russian tanks have 3 crew members. Some crew members can jump out of vehicle and survive destruction. Not all destroyed vehicles are actually tanks. Not all dead soldiers were killed in vehicles. Your math is piss-poor.
500 tanks is nothing for Russia.
Could someone post a link to a reliable report of what happened on Snake Island? I seem to have missed this and my search engine(Brave) only posts links to what I presume is disinf – including it was a Russian landing vessel that was destroyed! I really miss Nightvision’s reports. (What has happened to him?) I know his stand-ins/replacements are doing their best but when important incidents are mentioned please don’t assume we’re all up to speed on developments – at least a link would be helpful.
In the area of Snake Island today, a Ukrainian Su-24 bomber and a Su-27 fighter, three Mi-8 helicopters with troops and two Bayraktar-TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in the air. The Ukrainian assault boat “Stanislav” was also destroyed.
Kyiv, with the support of the United States, is trying to regain the island – this will allow them to conduct ships with NATO military assistance and aggravate the position of the Russian fleet. However, the first serious attempt to capture failed – it was known in advance .
The island was used as a bait: the forces of the Russian Armed Forces took off from it in the morning and retreated. Mi-8 army aviation transport helicopters and the Stanislav landing craft calmly reached the shores of the island and began to land troops. After that, the RF Armed Forces struck. The helicopters and the boat were destroyed. The few survivors retreated in rubber boats.

(The Ukrainian Propaganda is trying to spin it as a defeat for Russia and actually posting videos of their helicopters being destroyed as being Russian!)
Thank you. I was wondering why Snake Island is so important to Ukraine.

The SMO-404 goal of denazification and demilitarization, and the stated plan to see to it that the people of 404 get to decide their non-nazi future, and the plan for war-crime trials, these and more seem to require that the totality of 404 is to be rescued and liberated, with a RF guarantee to defend the borders from any outside force. Inter alia, this means Kiev and Lvov will get to decide too. Perhaps some regions will decide to rejoin Poland…obviously many will rejoin Russia, and the economic forces, like wind, will blow from the East.
I have heard DNR soldiers say that they expect trials in Kiev. For many, that’s a bigbig crime scene, like Nuremberg. That implied goal will certainly present nazi Oberkommando in AZE with a misc en scene like a very bad dream…one they’ll be quite determined to prevent.
People say that the invasion of Panama was to seize the kompromat that Noriega had gathered to blackmail B41 – one can imagine that, similarly “Oberkommando West” may attempt to smash and destroy the witnesses and evidence, perhaps even the trial location(s). https://youtu.be/L7ps5sP4LVQ (Panama Crime Scene and Why) The Korean War Germ war trials and investigation was easier to suppress, this time…whoooboy! A real fubar for OKW.
The US satellites provide the Ukrainian army with important data to protect the Nazification of Ukraine, This means that US satellites are justifiable targets for the Russian army. The satellites, if not destroyed, must be incapacitated to prevent their assistance to the Judeo-Nazi regime in Kiev.
“Justifiable” does not mean “desirable”…and I never advocate for destruction or crime… But I do take your technical point about justifiable (in Law of War and so on).
However RF has promised to destroy the centers of command and control, the decision centers, and to denazify (the Plan was not limited to 404). Satellites have terrestrial control centers which are large, stationary, and expensive and also indefensible. This has very sober implications. Meantime the faint transmissions from sat are jammable, and probably can be decrypted, thus revealing to RF precisely what the nazi Oberkommando sees. “dual-use”, so to say. As Ripper says, “two can play” (Strangelove film)
I note (see news-feed) Emory Law Review opinion of illegality of AZE “support” for nazi-404…the sat feed may be used as evidence at Trials, and repeat> probably is useful tactically for RF.
RF recently boosted “spy” sats to observe 404…removing nazi sats would also mean losing RF sats…as two can, indeed, play. Same may apply to the control stations. Using the opponent’s sats, however, is probably wiser…and Ruski engineers are better, on average, than the nazi engineers.
I recall that artillery is the god of war, and it’s with artillery that nazi404 is being smashed, delivering “cargo 200”, which cannot be replaced.
You can be sure Russia, China, and probably some other countries have tapped into NATO SIGINT at multiple levels. Not just “two can play” but now many can play!
In 2003 during the US/NATO invasion of Iraq, SitRep were provided daily with detailed information and accurate analysis.
They were signed by a mysterious character: “Ramzaj”.
At the time it was thought to be an anonymous group disseminating intelligence obtained from the GRU.
While the American troops advanced quickly and without interruption from the Kuwaiti border toward Baghdad airport, Ramzaj’s SitRep revealed the objective of that operational maneuver.
The taking of Baghdad airport was the password for the fall of Saddam’s government.
And so it happened.
There was never the battle for Baghdad. The regime was already irreversibly rotten, receiving the coup de grâce not from the invaders’ guns but through CIA bribes.
Perhaps, just perhaps, an analogous situation occurred with Russia’s operational maneuver around Kiev.
It is quite likely that intelligence information indicated a tendency by Ukraine, not to surrender, but to immediately seek a negotiated solution.
In any case, the US would not allow it.
Just as US prevented the first rounds of negotiations from continuing, with even 2 members of the Ukrainian delegation having been assassinated.
As US also blocked the unfolding of the draft agreement outlined in Istanbul.
Now Ukraine is slowly going through the Russian military mill, all the way to the border with Poland.
Europe has become a living dead, about to crumble to the bottom of the precipice it has chosen as its grave.
Imperium will only have its obsolete and defective nuclear weapons left.
Not likely the batteries are flat like with the Javelins.
There is a hyperinflationary blowout incoming at hypersonic speeds, on autopilot, ballistic, inertial. So far all the MSM info-warfare broadcaster have kept if off all radar screens.
Russia’s new Sarmat is a metaphor!
“Europe … about to crumble”, This unfortunately is true. Not just economically.
The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden and Finland are keen to host Nato. It seems that they wish to end up like Ukraine, an expendible, unfortunate pawn of the US. (Since about 20 years it is quite mainstream to refer to the US as an empire.)
This is a death wish. Do they not know that the US will try to internationalize the conflict? Do they not know that this is a proxy war of the US against Russia? Have they no sense to keep out of trouble?

Finland and Sweden are also keen to join Nato, although the population is sceptical. Finland’s neutrality and “Realpolitik” have kept Finland safe and secure since the 1940s. Switzerland’s neutrality has kept it safe for over 200 years.
Well, this time its live or dead for Western Globillionaires and their ponzi schemes.
I find it reasonable that Sweden, Finland, Slovakia and Chech sacrifice their countries and populations in order to maintain access to International derivative loans on usury terms. Believe me, they will do it and be happy.
“During the provocation, fighters of nationalist battalions dressed in Russian uniforms and driving armoured vehicles with “Z” sign fired on private houses, forcibly took valuables and personal vehicles from people, and physically assaulted civilians who showed the slightest resistance.”
What evidence do you have that these were not Russian troops. A statement like this has to be backed by actual evidence. Or it prime Davie is what it is.
it sounds like they were russian troops. it doesn’t sound particularly convincing that ukrainians would play dress-ups and rob other ukrainians in a war zone, I mean what would be the point? confiscating personal vehicles – yes ok that makes sense.
“it doesn’t sound particularly convincing that ukrainians would play dress-ups and rob other ukrainians in a war zone, I mean what would be the point?”
It doesn’t sound very convincing that Americans and Israelis would kill the entire population of the world with their fake vaccines and destroy their food production at the same time, I mean what would be the point?
The point always is, is it good for the jews?
What would be the point of Russian soldiers driving around in armoured vehicles with “Z” signs, then firing on private houses, forcibly taking valuables and personal vehicles from people, while physically assaulting civilians who showed the slightest resistance?
You would think that in the very least, if Russian soldiers were going to do something like this, they would hide their identities. This is fairly basic stuff. To me and probably to anyone else, it seems like Ukrainian troops have much more to gain from this type of activity than Russian troops would.
I’m wondering if you are actually serious. Have you even one logical or sensible reason to support your theory?
You need to read up about Otto Skorzeny and his exploits during the Battle of the Bulge. The Americans learnt a lot from Skorzeny. They did not hang Skozeny in the Nuermberg Trials precisely because when HE dressed his German soldiers in American Uniforms driving American Jeeps, Skozeny was able to prove that the Americans had ALSO dressed up in German Uniforms to create mischief behind enemy lines.
So it is VERY much something that the US Military would encourage the Ukrainians to do, to dress up in Russian uniforms, to discredit Russian Forces.
Th UK Media has already made use of the ‘evidence of this evil Russian behaviour’ … The weekend Sunday Mail already mentioned this…
In that way the Mail on Sunday has tearjerked millions of pounds out of British Sheeple for a major rescue operation to bring food to the poor Ukronazis…
Like the photographs of destoyed Russian tanks with cages welded on them (only done by the AFU) or (my favorite) a freshly painted Z over the burned out, rusted hulk. Or the game videos of the Ghost of Keiv? Or the numerous debunked “Russian atrocities” like Bucha?
Read / listen to the accounts of civilians held hostage by Ukrainians and rescued by the RF, and the accounts of mercenaries who have been captured or fled back to their home countries.
There is a pattern here, in case you missed it.
He’s a shill, what ya’ll expect?
Dear Moderator, why are you not telling us what happened to Night vision.
Please do tell us.
we do not know, no contact .. mod
Reports are that Russian forces have been forced from Kharkiv and are blowing up bridges as they withdraw.
True or false? Please Explain
posa, ‘reports are …. ‘
Perhaps you can enlighten us as to which reports?
I will answer your question. War is fluid, “an army should be as water” – Sun Tzu.
There are different types of withdrawal armed forces undertake; tactical, strategic, and routed. Tactical occurs when a force in danger is withdrawn and re-positioned in good order with minimal loss of gear and troops but the strategic objectives suffer only a minimal set-back. Russia reported an advance of the Ukrainian forces near Kharkov and a withdrawal of the Russian after the Ukrainians managed to hit the only bridge supporting the RF on the west bank of that river – threatening supply. This was a tactical withdrawal.
Strategic withdrawals can have multiple dimensions. A feinting attack designed to hold an enemy in place while higher priority strategic objectives are obtained elsewhere or an attack and retreat to force an enemy to commit reserves into harassing a retreating enemy only to fall into a trap. The Zulu used this quite extensively ‘the Horns of the Buffalo’, or Hannibal in his encirclement and destruction of the Romans at Cannae. Strategic withdrawals are made in good order with accounted for gear loss.
General retreats due to massive breaches or routes create major loss of troops and gear.
If I had to guess, and nobody here has access to RF General Staff, I’d say that the Kharkov operation was a feint to draw out Ukrainian troops into an advance against artillery (actually that is confirmed, ref Intel Slava Z), but also lock those forces in place while a higher value strategic goal was attained – the operational encirclement of approximately 60,000 UAF troops.
A note to Amarynth and the Saker Team, thank you for the Sitrep. I see the blog is again drawing multiple loonies out of the bin. ;-)
“confirmed, ref Intel Slava Z”
I am following that channel as well. It is readable and a feel-good channel if you’re pro-Russian. But nothing is ever sourced, and there is the odd fake news, probably unintentional, let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. For example:
https://t.me/intelslava/26979 – April 27, strike on aluminium plant kills 523 militants
https://t.me/intelslava/28104 – May 6, shootout in Hamburg
https://t.me/intelslava/28239 – May 8, destruction of Ukrainian Mi-8
The last one was reported by multiple sources but, unfortunately, the Ukrainian version is true. The other side seems to have incurred heavier losses in the battle for Snake Island. But we do not know for sure what really happened. That is the reality.
I follow several Telegram sites. Slava Intel Z generally gives decent data upon which to make a decision, allowing for a few errors here or there I find them reasonably accurate.
I have insufficient information on what happened at Snake Island to hazard an opinion. If I had to guess, I think the feigned withdrawal is most likely. As far as I understand, that MI8 video remains unconfirmed whether Russian or Ukrainian so I will pass on commenting other than to note that the immediate troop deployment into firing position suggests Ukrainian.
Where are not only Nightvision’s SitReps but the heroic SitReps about China?
I personally, too, know China very deep from inside.
And what goes on destroys my positive image of China i personally had for 2 decades:
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/whole-planet-pot-and-were-all-frogs
The following is no Western Propaganda in this case:
Same Mindset.
Shanghai has always been seen as the most “civilized” city in China. Shanghai is often called Le Paris de l’Orient, it is an “international” first tier city… probably the top Chinese city in terms of openness, quality of life and access to medical care.
Nobody expected to see such levels of insanity in Shanghai… in other areas of the country, yes, but not here. Looking at the conditions in the quarantine centers… Containers without doors in a field, tents set on a highway, toilets flooded with feces… open air zoo.
They come take positive cases in big buses and ambulances almost daily. The police is patrolling streets at all times and we are unable to even set foot on the sidewalk. Every building that had a positive case is either: shut down with barriers OR has 1-2 men in a tent monitoring 24/7 (imagine all the manpower required.) Currently there are 3-4 of those tents in my compound. It’s basically Martial Law.
The psychological toll is quite high. The monetary one must be hard of lower classes. Some neighbors have mental breakdowns. Some people spray alcohol in the air while walking to get tested… You’d think the Plague is upon us.
Some people were getting messages in group chat about “foreign spies” and “foreign media fueling anti-China conspiracies.” Good ol’ shift the blame tricks.
I have been in lockdown since mid-March, got tested 35 times, and lost about 12 pounds. The local governmental commune gave us a little bit of food, but barely enough to survive.
Luckily we had some preps and were able to order some food. Now most delivery guys are not allowed to deliver to our address. We can get a bit of food, but we need to get imaginative to create new recipes (boiled/sweet and sour/spicy/fermented cabbage.)
Have you even an idea what the topic is here?
amarynth:
If you fail to see a connection here, it is your fault.
Damn it, like I needed an homonym to give me a bad rep…
Sir, this is a pandemic, each government has its own way of control a pandemic.
If you like the US see-no-evil way, then long live US after more than one million deaths. If you like the Taiwan’s incompetent bureaucratic way, then liberate Taiwan.
Shanghai is a big place, just be patient. The pandemic will be controlled.
I know it’s strictly “off-topic” but personally I found John Doe’s report very illuminating and there is a link between this was and the “scamdemic”. (If you still believe a supposed (and never isolated “virus”) which posed no risk to over 99% of the population and whose victims’ avrage age was over 80 with co-morbidities, I promise you that the “Ghost of Kiev” was a true story.) We are in a global war with many sides with interests that often clash, some have good motives, many have not and are skilled at expoloiting the goodwill of others. Seeking to justify what the Chinese regime is doing to its own people in on a par wth those westerner communists who excused Soviet atrocities with the “can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs” excuse. We are dealing with a global elite whose tentacles stretch everywhere. The timing of this war was clearly not Russia’s. Putin had to react to an imminent attack on the Donbass. Why was this about to launch now? It was certainly convenient for those seeking to hide the mountin evidence of the damage wrought by the covid “vaccines” goovernments around the world forced on their populations as attention was easily focused elsewhere (although not in China). There are those in Russia, I am sure, who are under no illusions that China is a reliable long term ally but very much a co-belligerent, so far as the West is concerned. China will not lift a finger to save Russia unless it suits them. I hate this war which yet again pitches Europeans against each other. There will be no winners apart from a sinister and deeply corrupt global elite.
……”I hate this war which yet again pitches Europeans against each other. There will be no winners apart from a sinister and deeply corrupt global elite.”……
You can only thank US for that.
No, the global cabal.
Russia has found 30 bio- labs in Ukraine which includes research into coronavirus and also wildlife being used as vassals for bio- weapons. Many have become very ill or died from their tests.
US forces were in Wuhan taking part in a sporting event in late 2019. Wuhan being a city with extensive transport connections around China.
Maybe China is very suspicious or pre-cautionary about the outbreaks of these viruses? Understandably so considering the US biolabs around China and the obvious US immoral criminality. After all the US used atomic weapons and Agent Orange,to name just two, on civilians.
Mod: Per the moderation rules, the covid topic is strictly forbidden in this blog. There are other sites to discuss that. I ask all commenters to kindly refrain to delve into the covid issue in replies here.
China is doing it’s best in fighting a biological war against the nation and one has to understand her action from a war perspective. Covid 19 is genetically specific against the Chinese people.
At the same time Russia is fighting the empire in a hot war and China is backing R up economically and financially. Without the partnership things could not have progressed so seamlessly.
That’s PRC propaganda of the earliest 2020 days.
It turned out to be false.
See their own definitions and numbers, compared to alleged C19 deaths: https://www.china-briefing.com/news/china-coronavirus-updates-latest-developments-business-advisory-part-2/
“China will not lift a finger to save Russia unless it suits them.” I think that statement is pure BS of a very high order. China knows very well that it has to be partners with Russia – in my opinion there is NO doubt about the relationship! They are in this together or they don’t survive.
Further more, it struck me that China may well be playing games in Shanghai – a bit severe on the population but they want to make it “look” good for Western eyes. That way they can’t be blamed for “deliberately” shutting off produce that the West is counting on. Check out the Ships currently massed in the ocean outside of Shanghai. The west is being punished by China – cleverly but very effectively. So NO I don’t think there’s a problem between China & Russia.
I’ve been a careful reader of Zerohedge for the last 15 years, and some topics lost credibility. In particular their China analyses always bordered on, or were actually, propaganda – black propaganda. The Falung Gong newspaper, Epoch Time publishes a fair amount there and it’s basically nonsense.
Q: How many times for how long on your very own – and how grass roots – have you been to the PRC and how good is your Mandarin?
I have suspicions that this “grass roots” John Doe has never been to China himself.
You show no knowledge of the history of Shanghai and its role in Chinese history. Only a pharisitcal type would claim that Shanghai was the most “civilized” city in China. It was, in the nineteenth and twentieth century, the entry and eventually base of the western bankers and their shabbos goy (Soong family).
Reading is a skill that has to be learned.
I referred to an article on ZH, parts of which I quoted (as indicated).
What does or doesn’t that show of my knowledge of history of – as you say – Shanghai?
And well the tragic story with western colonialism and the Opium wars – it has been repeated, you just didn’t notice.

By the way, if I drive through Beijing by tube, in between the heroic PLA music and Mao depictions there are ads in many trains and stations for USAID.
How do you explain that?
ZH got “the letter”, or rather its hosting service did. Once you have something to lose, then TPTB can apply pressure.

Seems very like Azov?
Your claim to know China — and your recitation of the glories of Shanghai — is quite preposterous. If you do indeed (as you claim) live in Shanghai, it’s time for you to spend 30 minutes learning the basics. Shanghai might be called the “Paris” of the East, but the city served as the nest for the Western financial vipers and their enablers like the notorious Soong banking family. Even today the hereditary élite families continue their efforts against the central government. The Shanghainese were justifiably known as the jews of Asia for their mercenary and mendacious behavior.
If you find out that the authur of the ZH article and I are not the same person, we can perhaps start a conversation.
And before starting to discuss wealthy cleptocratic families and oligarchs, perhaps have a look at where we are now:

It would appear from the drone videos circulating on social media that the Russian Forces also took heavy losses on Snake Island…unless those videos are fakes but from what I’ve seen they seem legit.
How much of that is true? Anyone can claim anything. Ukraine with nato targeting and flight planning help have definitely scored some hits. Given the frequency of Ukraine lies using video game footage, I remain suspicious of all their claims.
When one side is known for always telling lies the conclusion is easy to reach.
I followed your link. It is laughable.
First, it’s name: “anti-empire” but spewing empire propaganda .. only very naive people will still go further.
But I read a bit, just for the sake of it… Well according to that site to the Ukraine is in all out counter offensive, and not only retook that island, but checkmated the Russian fleet, crossed the border and is methodically bombing all fuel droits, militar centers etc in Russia.
A good propaganda should be at least a little bit believable. Pure bullshit only destroy your future attempts.
Of all the bars and gin-joints he had to walk into yours.
Probably a low budget Bellingcat off-shoot
I sorely miss Nightvision’s sitreps. They are extremely informative and the main reason I follow this blog. Please bring them back.
Concur. My main and only reason too. Not interested in religious (escathological) rants.
A few general notes as to the tone of the commenting here.
Nightvision:
Will or will not announce where he is, what he is doing, and his situation …
WHEN he wants to,
AS he wants to and
IF he wants to.
Nobody owes anyone any explanation here.
Information given is as can be confirmed by the Russian Mod. Any new information and I’ve seen some more on Snake Island from the Mod reports, can be discussed and added, as the older commentators very well know how to do.
Kharkov .. seems to me many commentators say they know a lot, but nobody knows anything. Again, information is sparse – information that can be confirmed by the Russian Mod.
I feel I am owed an explanation, since I only followed his articles, not interested in anything else.
You feel you’re owed an explanation? The mods have said multiple times they don’t know. That’s an explanation. But nobody at a free website owes you anything. Everything Nightvision published here was open source. Get a telegram account. Use machine translation for live journal, etc. Nobody’s stopping you from becoming self-informed.
“I feel I am owed an explanation…”
Seriously? Maybe you should go elsewhere and take your pathological sense of entitlement with you.
NightVision was a punter like you and I before Andrei asked him to get in touch.
Therefore, it’s up to him to respond to his MIA.
Even if he decided for XYZ reason to discontinue his Sitrep then he should return as a regular punter, providing his helpful insight.
Entitled much?!
Want tissues for your issues?
How’s that for entitlement? Good job showing your true colors.
Some commentators (you find the same ones everywhere…) only comment to push one idea: Russia is incompetent and losing. Well, there is no Ukrainian flag raised on Snake Island as far as I know…and I guess days are numbered for any Nazi in Kharkov now…But the Ukrainian/British/US propaganda machine has no lack of funds or manpower – I only hope their comments won’t descend further to SF level – or drown the valuable comments with their eternal nagging or “concerns”…so please moderators, protect your site!
I have no idea on earth what happened to Nightvision. However, if he remains ‘missing in action’, I would wager that someone in high places found a way to “shut his mouth.” It would not be the first time censorship has happened.
” I would wager that someone in high places found a way to “shut his mouth. ”
Nightvision was only compiling information that was already available on the internet. Its not like he had access to classified material. I strongly doubt anyone went out of their way to shut him down.
“Nightvision was only compiling information that was already available on the internet. Its not like he had access to classified material. I strongly doubt anyone went out of their way to shut him down.”
How many people have the time and the ambition to seek out all the relevant information for themselves? And how many of those people have the knowledge/experience/understanding to put it all together and put in into proper perspective for the benefit of others? Considering everything that’s going on, it’s not hard to believe that his excellent sitreps could bring unwanted consequences.
He was an excellent writer though. He will be be missed.
So true, amarynth. Many people, for their own reasons, enjoy the completeness of NVs reports, they bring together many pieces of a scattered puzzle. I usually, props to RSH aka Luther, read the MOD release of the day(several some days) at moa, Richard is on it. Lots of other bits, Cassad, Anna News, Yuri…..lots of sources.
Nightvision, should you be monitoring, no idea what your situation is, but with the quality of what you put together…it is missed, I hope you are ok personally…..just from reading some comments…..blogging is a thankless task. All the best…..
Cheers M
Nobody owes an explanation.
Ethical behavior is to offer an explanation, even if one is not owed.
That is why Saker offers explanations for his absences: health, fatigue, religious, etc.
Thank you Amarynth, Herb and the Team, for the heroic effort to keep this website going.
English language reports such as this are few and far between. If I were fluent in Russian I would be getting my news directly from Colonel Cassad and similar reporters on Telegram and Twitter. Machine translations are better than they were 10 years ago, but still a mediocre solution.
And thanks to the Saker for starting this blog and running it all this time. Based on his recent notice, it would not surprise me to see the blog taken offline soon — the bellicosity of rhetoric from the movers and shakers of Zone A seems to know no limits, and we still live in Zone A.
I hope that does not happen but no one owes me an explanation.
The staff sitreps are better. Your aggregates are such that credit is given to the origination of the info. Nightvision’s were not.
Removed. No attacking authors as per site rules.Mod.
Were you deluged with demands for the whereabouts of Gonazalo.
Those who are wondering where Auslander is he got the bug du jour and has been hospitalized for some time and soon to get out. He’s in pretty good shape and shall return to us soon.
“Your aggregates are such that credit is given to the origination of the info. Nightvision’s were not.”
Nightvision’s sitreps were full of links, including many links to videos. He used Bitchute a lot.
US media claimed
that the USSR had more strategic bombers (the bomber gap) false
that the USSR had more ICBMs (the missile gap) false
that the US was attacked by North Vietnam (Gulf of Tonkin) false
that Iraqi troops threw babies out of incubators (false)
that Iraq had WMDs (false)

And you still believe US media? LOL
That Serbian police committed a massacre of some 40 Albanian civilians in Kosovo. False.
What happened was the Albanian militants guided by a CIA operator William Volker dressed up in civilian clothes dead militants after a skirmish with Serbian police. Of course CNN cameras were on the spot.
Read the comment above by Russian Bear, that’s exactly what happened.
Tiny Snake island is extremely important since from it the south coast is conrolled and who controls it controls the supply from the see.
Southfront recently posted an article on what happened called Battle for Snake Island. That article seems to make the most sense.
Greetings to all. I notice a kind of anguish and desperation in some who seem to be believing many of the publications of the Imperial Presstitute. I ask everyone for a bit of calm and objectivity and not to lose sight of the fact that Russia is in the middle of an unofficially declared war against NATO and that with a relatively small force, and without using many of its modern weapons in depth, it has slowly achieving its goals, despite the desperation and consternation of America’s European lackeys. I remind you that this is just warming up (to use sporting terms) since the Russian ultimate goal is to get the US to get its nuclear weapons out of Europe and to get NATO back to the 1997 borders
The reports of 1000 men surrendering under a white flag at Azvostal ysterday are false says Russia.

This is reported by the commander of the battalion “Vostok” Alexander Khodakovsky.
Could be false flag, I hope they did not slither through checkpoints….

Still seeing Ukraiian fighter bombers being shot down – which airstrip is still functioning?
Hm, that Snake Island business is interesting.
It seems that the russians decided to withdrew from the island leaving behind non-operational equipment in order to present a tempting target for the Ukies. Despite being perceived as “strategic”, the island is too small in size to host sufficiently large garrison with proper defences so it makes sense for the RF to leave it. Not to mention the fact that any such garrison would present a big, fat, stationary target – the russians won’t make the same mistake as the Ukies.
On the other hand, being perceived by the western “analysist” as “springboard for the expected Russian attack”, it could be used as a bait to smoke out the remaining navy and air force of the Ukies. Given all the propaganda on their side surrounding the island at the beginning of the russian anti-terrorist op in Ukraine, it would be a “matter of pride” for the ukies to take it back. Which would make them predictable. And which will make them easier to destroy.
I wonder why the western “analysts” actually expect such attack on south-western Ukraine anytime soon – the dispositioning of the Black Sea Navy and the attacks carried so far by the russians in the region indicate that the goal was to keep the Ukie forces there in check. Even if the russians have the intention to take Odessa (and only the russian general staff and VVP know if this is the case), the way they’re conducting their op so far suggest that they’ll clear Kharkiv region from the Ukronazis first before moving west.
The “analysts” have no HUMINT whatsoever and years ago went with game-theory.
The circus before Feb 24 was obviously model readouts.
A bit like Climate Modelling – they take 140 different parameter runs predicting cooling to roasting. and then, the idiots, they take the AVERAGE of the runs.
Brilliant – until one hears Presser briefings trying to average out!
Math is the ultimate thought-stopper. Just look at economics.
I read that some “donated” Migs are flying into the Ukraine from south of Moldova. Would make the “departing” airfield a tempting target but it would also expand the war. Russia seems to have a handle on it as a reasonable amount of the migs flying into the Odessa area (would include snake island) seem to be getting shot down. I have great faith in the Russian official reports.
Agree. Given Russian missile accuracy and speed any Ukrainian force in that island would stand no chance.
I am surprised the Ukranians still have military boats. Was it one of theirs or one their were recently given? The navy situation is worth keeping an eye on as it’s clearly a NATO target and the CIA has been bragging about helping taking Moskova of service.
Navy is the one vulnerability of Russia as Turkey is preventing back up and it’s a way for the West to stretch the air defences and create more hot spots for Russia and it’s much harder to defend. Also proximity of sea to NATO countries helps them. The Navy Commander will have much on his mind.
One point to make. Perhaps off topic if you allow. The feint on Kiev is often seen as a purely military excercise, this ignores the information and data collected by that advance particularly on biolabs.
I am hoping Putin will present more information on the biolabs tomorrow. This should not be forgotten. After Covid transparency on those labs is needed. America is clearly very anxious to protect the information in them. Even if it’s covid made there – land I’m not saying it is – Western media will not be interested but in Africa we like much of zone B will be all ears.
I would be interested in knowing where those 30 odd Ukranian biolabs kindly funded via the Bidens are and who is controlling them.
Multiple US politicians are now openly talking about being at war with Russia and there is anxiety in the West over a potential declaration of war.
Unfortunately there is no credible neutral statesperson, perhaps a Kofi Annan or Mandela to try to calm this situation down.
Thanks for the report. Hope to see Nightvision reports soon. Now it’s more and more clear that time is on Russia’s side. After reading the excellent article by Jorge Vilches – Europe´s mad ban on Russian oil – posted earlier, we can see how the Russians have so far used only a small portion of the tools at their disposal whether military, economically or diplomatically. In fact, prolongation of the SMO is giving a steady boost to Ruble and the economy as a whole. Whereas, things are getting pretty complicated in the West, least of which is the recent Wall Street stock market crash.
Could the attack on the Snake Island have originated from Romania?
The island is only 28 miles from the Romanian Danube port Sulina.
That small, uninhabitable, rocky island has a glorious mythological past: Achilles and Patroclus were said to be laid to rest there and still haunt it…
It changed hands back and forth throughout history and the Romanians have always resented having it taken away by the Soviet Union and then gifted to Ukraine. Maybe the Ukrainians said “Do this for us and we’ll give it back to you… you, ha, ha, ha
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_Island_(Ukraine)
Very interesting – When Putin said that Prometheus was chained to stone, it was at Sochi. Cannot yet find a reference, but that must be in Aeschylus’ Prometheus trilogy.
As a complement, a “boots on the ground” report of the evacuation of Azovstal, in French, but it will be translated very soon, I think:
https://www.donbass-insider.com/fr/2022/05/08/marioupol-les-derniers-civils-ont-evacue-azovstal/
Among the many interesting points, she shows the interview of a civilian that got butchered (the interview, not the civilian) by Der Spiegel in order to fit the Narrative. Unsurprising but still nauseating.

UKRAINE UPDATE: CIA Ineptitude, Russian Cauldrons and the Ukrainian Mafia
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/05/ukraine-update-cia-ineptitude-russian-cauldrons-ukrainian-mafia/
“When someone is telling you how important he or she is, it is a pretty good indicator that person is not terribly relevant. I think the same principle applies to the CIA, who in the last week is bragging through sources that thanks to the Agency’s intel the Ukrainians are whacking a dozen Russian Generals and sinking the Moskva……”
Facts about the war in the Ukraine: it’s an artillery war.
What killed the civilians in the Donbass was UAF artillery shelling the cities and settlements. Be it rockets or shells, the result was the same.
Meanwhile, the front line had hardened into well-fortified static trench warfare.
So the first phase of 2022 saw the Russians take air dominance and (with some losses) maneuvered through the easy part of territory shown in red (except for Mariupol). The second phase involves taking the well-fortified positions in the Donbass.
To do this, Russia relies on air strikes and upon long-range artillery to dislocate strong points. This is why it is taking so long. The whole area is honeycombed with well-fortified defensive positions. But slow but sure constant artillery attacks combined with air support do break up the strong points. What few planes the Ukrainians have, show up only to be shot down, and the dwindling artillery UAF has is no match for the combined strikes of Russian air, self-propelled howitzers and missiles.
Nor are the Russians strangers to artillery.
“During World War II, the military doctrine of Soviet deep battle called for extensive use of heavy artillery to hold the formal line of front. Soviet doctrine was remarkably different from the German doctrine of Blitzkrieg and called for a far more extensive use of artillery. As a result, howitzers saw most of the action on the Eastern front.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artillery
In fact, most of the deaths in modern warfare are caused by artillery strikes.
According to Wikipedia, citing the Oxford Companion to Military History: “The majority of combat deaths in the Napoleonic Wars, World War I, and World War II were caused by artillery.”
Bellamy (1986), pp. 1–7, cites the percentage of casualties caused by artillery in various theaters since 1914: in the First World War, 45 percent of Russian casualties and 58 percent of British casualties on the Western Front; in the Second World War, 75 percent of British casualties in North Africa and 51 percent of Soviet casualties (61 percent in 1945) and 70 percent of German casualties on the Eastern Front; and in the Korean War, 60 percent of US casualties, including those inflicted by mortars.
Ten days before the war broke out on Feb. 24, an article appeared entitled “The Role of Artillery in a War Between Russia and Ukraine.”
The author writes: “Artillery is likely to play a prominent role in any conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Russia’s predominance in self-propelled howitzers and ISTAR will prove decisive and may have strategic outcomes.”
Once the artillery does its work, the tanks and infantry finish it off.
When it comes to Ukrainian and Russian military claims of enemy losses I will be very skeptic. I follow the big trend of military history: personal military losses are decreasing. In modern warfare there are much less soldiers in combat zone per km2 than 80 years ago. Much less because the growing fire power. Armies have been decentralized. Ukrainians are using much less soldiers per km2 than most of people are thinking. Russians too. In a single day 22 August 1914 around 27,000 soldiers of French forces were killed in terrible counter offensives. These bloody days have gone. “Huge losses” now likely means at maximum 100-200 KIA or much less.
Let’s forget all these RF MoD and Kiev reports of high enemy losses. Let’s show some critical thinking even if it hurts. This war is very far from 1914-1945 warfare nature still controlling our mindset.
Whilst I agree with your main point, you seem to ignore the fact that the Ukrainians have “dug in” in the past eight years in the Donbas, which is essentially trench warfare. And unfortunately for them, artillery has gotten far more accurate in the subsequent 110 plus years.
Nonsense. All government agencies in Kiev are noted for publishing implausible, bullshit statistics. Population, Gdp, crime, health – you name it and Kiev will have told big lies about it. A hopelessly corrupt and dysfunctional country.
Russian state agencies are fairly reliable and thorough in the statistics they give out – and there is no reason to think it shouldn’t apply to the MOD of Russia now
Its all one big propaganda exercise from the Kiev side, because their entire intelligence, military command, and media operations are controlled entirely by the west. That’s why it was so irrelevant and noted by nobody that Kiev replaced their Defence minister with some lawyer, just on the eve of the SMO. Its a puppet position.
It’s in the western interests to deliberately put out false information on military losses that are bad for Russia and good for Ukraine – so that the Ukrainian population is motivated to continue fighting. If Russia put out information that the Ukrainian losses were half of what they currently say they are, then it would not make much, if any, change to the enthusiasm of the Russian people for conducting this SMO.
The close in amount numbers of killed vs injured given by Russia on the ukronazis losses also implies honesty. Normally its about 3 or 4 injured for every soldier killed, but the RF MOD gives 1 ukrop killed for every one injured – which suggests outside of intercepted comms and satellite data showing the severely injured or dead, they arent getting the data for most of the hospitalised soldiers- extra complicated by the Kiev regime intermingling the soldiers in civilian hospitals and probably treating many in Poland also. In other words, they are onlu giving out data on what they can see, not what they think – because they could easily estimate 40000 more injured ukronazis.
Ukraine is on its third or fourth wave of mobilisation already. Russia, even with their forces spread out thinly and this being a very small amount of troops for such an ambitious objective – is on zero wave of mobilisation. That shows how stupid it is do false equivalence

When reading the comments you can see how anxious many people are. This is understandable.
We all know, consciously or not, how much is at stake with this war: our future, the future of the world.
Thus, this is also a war of nerves. It is up to each of us to learn to live with this kind of tension. For it is not only inevitable, it is necessary.
The reasons to get even more nervous will only increase. We are certainly fully capable of overcoming this situation.
We have no right to capitulate.
In our own way, and to the best of our ability, we must stay healthy to contribute (as much as we can) to an outcome in our favor.
Congratulations and all support to The Saker and all its contributors.
Hura!

Spot on! Expectations are high in every corner of this world, particularly in zone B (Saker @TM). Russia must win despite all odds! Martyred Africa put hope in Russian/China/Iran /India …’s victory. All oppressed peoples on all latitudes hope and pray for Zunian ultimate Evil be eventually defeated. Thank you Russian people for decolonization of Africa, Asia, South America! thanks for yet little democracy many peoples around the world enjoyed these last decades! A new page is being brought to light.
Since my invitation to sit in with Defense Minister Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov keeps getting lost in the mail, the following is my own opinion.
We should first always remember that in any military confrontation, both sides get to shoot. It may be annoying if it’s your turn to get shot at but ‘them’s the rules’.
The Ukrainians may be fools for allowing themselves to become cannon fodder for Anglo/American Empire of Lies. But, they are not stupid. They are capable of acting in ways which will cause pain to Russian forces and they will do so.
Now, my take on things….
1. The Second Battle of Snake Island – Ukrainian forces launched a serious attempt to quickly overwhelm the Russian garrison and were decisively defeated. The Russian defenders also took casualties; quelle surprise.
2. The Kharkov(Get used to using the right name people.) Counteroffensive – If this is even happening anywhere but in Zelensky’s fever dreams; it is what we call a spoiling attack. The Ukrainians desperately need to relieve pressure from their forces on the Donbass front. This type of attack would have the goal of drawing Russian forces away from their primary objective to honor the threat in the Kharkov area.
Based on what little, if even real, information we have, it seems to be failing in its objective. The Russians, rather than being distracted, have elected to gradually give ground until the Ukrainian counteroffensive runs out of steam.
This effort also indicates that the situation for Ukrainian troops on the Donbass front is reaching a critical point. They may in fact be close to total collapse, but time will tell.
The ebb and flow of battle is typical in any war, except in cases of trench warfare which limits back and forth. Any thing else is a rout. I think you analysis is essentially correct. If we keep in mind the highly motivated, drugged-up neo-Nazi core who form the blocking units of the UAF, it’s no great wonder the UAF have held up so far, unless completely pushed back. The Donbass is at the beginning of the critical stage; it is similar to the Russians at the gates of Mariupol. No one can take that pressure. Sooner or later something will crack.
” If we keep in mind the highly motivated, drugged-up neo-Nazi core who form the blocking units of the UAF, it’s no great wonder the UAF have held up so far, unless completely pushed back ”
The various ” NAZI ” outfits in the Ukraine number around 2000 to 5000 troops at the most. This in a country of millions with a military numbering in the hundred of thousands. There is no way they have the influence that you ascribe to them. In fact, as is commonly stated here most are concentrated in Azovastal. I think its time to stop over inflating their importance.
Western estimates, before the war, placed the number of extremist Nationalists within the active Ukrainian military at as high as 40%.
I doubt it. Do you actually believe 40% of captured Ukies have swastika tattoos and Third Reich emblems ? If true, 40% of the captured Ukie military will end up in Russian jails or executed. I’m not buying it.
Why would Nazi have to have tatoos? As for number of warriors with Nazi leanings, probably good approximation is number of members of so called nationalist units. Doubt there are only 5000. Furthermore, who knows how many Ukro regulars have extreme political views.
Define an extremist political view please ?
Like clapping to a guy who said on TV that Russian soldiers should be castrated. Affirming that is good Donbass civilians are killed. And so on. You know what is extreme in contemporary Europe. Took out a personal attack. Mod
Ukrainian politicians have even encourage the castration and murder of Russian POWs. There’s a large percentage full of hate and extremism and there are many thousands of mercenaries and foreign advisors mixed in with the Ukrainian forces.
No idea but apparently neo-nazis are fond of having swastika tattoos. Like this gentleman allegedly fighting also in Ukraine: https://twitter.com/johanknorberg/status/1506184844170211335
12000 British troops held 200 million Indians in check for more than 200 years.
Yeah, no wonder they’re arming themselves to the teeth with s400’s. Fool me once . . . . .
The Azov “battalion” alone apparently has 20,000 members. That’s not even counting all the others (Aidar, Donbass, Right Sector etc). There’s a lot more than 5,000, although they are still a relatively small segment of the Ukraine’s population. They have guns though, as well as huge support from Israel/Nato as well as their puppet regime in Kiev, which allows a small number of people to control a much larger population. It’s a form of minority rule (aka tyranny), similar to the situation in the EU/US. This is why you always hear about “minority” rights in the EU/US, but never about the rights of the majority. Jews are a minority who want to rule over the native majority in other countries, and the only way they can do that successfully is through a combination of manipulation (lies) and intimidation. You’re seeing both implimented in an extreme way in the Jewish-run hellhole previously known as the Ukraine.
Swastika tattoos and open or internalized “nazidom” are quite irrelevant, unless they are taken as synonyms for military training and combat value. But I can see that is very hard to understand as continuous exposure to the word “nazi” serves as a kind of brainwashing in its own right.
you are a voice of reason, in a sea of crazy.
thank you for that.

Eight years ago, I watched the BBC brazenly rip off a few minutes of video from one of Graham Phillips’ news reports from the Donetsk region. They talked over the sound, describing the event as “Russian aggression” when the original video was about “Porky” aggression.
Since then, any Zone A news report is going to need a whole lot more provenance for me to think it has any substance at all. The Beeb can start with a very large, very public, apology to Phillips.
so … no compelling reason to believe this report.
If RF have 190,000 soldiers operational forces in Ukraine are even 38,000 of them true combat soldiers and bulk (over 150,000) just rear units in supporting role?
Now if true how can you win a war in large area with just 38,000 combat soldiers? In American War in Vietnam US had on maximum 78,000 ground force combat soldiers though maximum (early 1969) even 540,000 men forces. And just 40,000 of them were able to be sent to front line combat.
The pale fact is that Russia has absolutely too few soldiers and Russian military must know that fact. The strategy must be totally different than conventional capturing large area of Ukraine. This must be just bigger frozen conflict now with capacity sending long range missiles to Western Ukraine too. The aim: splitting Ukraine to get 20-25% of provinces jumping off the ship of Kiev.
There around 50,000 Ukranians fighting alongside the Russian Peacekeepers.
You have to understand that Zelensky is a Jew, so why should he care about Ukrainian males?
his children are baptized christian…………….makes for an intersting combo but politically astute

Vladimir Zelensky is mishlinge – his father is a Jew, mother Russian. Zelensky was a very talented actor and dissent man. Then few years ago Igor Kolomoisky (also part Jew and the initial main organizer and financier of Rihgt sector and nazy regiment of Aidar) set his eyes on him, invested a lot of money, sent Zelensky to UK for political training, from there he came back to Ukraine changed person and with addiction. Zelensky, a grandson of a Great Patriotic War hero (a Jew), as a president of Ukraine, forbid the Immortal Regiment event. A well known Kievan lawyer Tatiana Montian went to Krimea and marched on the Immortal regiment with the portrait of Vladimir Semionovich Zelensky, the grandfather of Vladimir Zelensky, after whom he was named. What a shame!
Thank you for this sitrep and your time spent compiling it. Nightvision or not these are all crucial bits in our understanding of the goals and outcomes of the SMO. The zogbot infowar juggernaut led by the Empire of Lies would have us believing that the Ukies are really winning! Any bit of testimony countering this fairytale is discredited, deleted, and definitely discouraged.
I am seeing trolls here changing their tactics from overt to covert commenting, a well known gambit to divide opinions. It’s easy for us to notice the BS in Zone A’s various media organs, Main Street Media etc., but here as in other smaller new sites and blogs we have paid players/misinformants that purposefully post the “4 D’s: Disinformation, Disruption, Division, Disunity. Recognizing these trolls is easy once you indentify their tactics- even here on The Saker, where overt trolling does not work, thanks to the tireless Mods present, but sometimes more subtle and covert trolling occurs. Remember many are paid actors:

When one person, posting 8 hours per day, can hit maybe one site every 10 minutes, and in that ten minutes post 10-15 posts from a template under 10-15 different names, then each person can mimic 480-720 people. That alone would make 3,000 people look like 1,440,000 to 2,160,000 people. I wound not be surprised if they have computer software that allows them to automate the process, and speed each worker’s output times a factor of ten to twenty. And add to that the fact that most people lurk online, and do not post, you can see how such an operation will skew people’s perceptions of the reality of what “people” believe.
how does one discern between trolling and providing opposition to break up an echo chamber? everyone singing the same tune is dangerous.
petr, why is it dangerous that “everybody is singing the same tune” if it is a good tune?
You come here as a newbie and want to “save” us, by teaching us how to interact on this blog..
It is more like you are bringing your own echo chamber here, and try to impose it on us.
We don’t need that.

Because there are always the “news” popping up about the frigate Admiral Makarov. So just having a idea and maybe some here are interested to dive a bit deeper into this topic. Maybe it would make sense to close of the entire Azov sea so none of the Dolphins can come in.
I remember when the Yanks had “invested” in Thyssen Marine and in Kiel’s, Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH. That’s what Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH was renamed ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems GmbH at the end of 2012. These “super-investor” guys really arrived with their photocopying machines and made such funny faces as they found out that there are no more sketches :) laying around to grab up for free.
As the first three subs were delivered something strange was happened: A mysterious takeover of Thyssen Marine’s shipyard in the Athens, the Hellenic Shipyards S.A. by an Abu Dubai “investor group” called Abu Dhabi MAR (ADM).
What a surprise that all of a sudden the CEO of Abu Dhabi MAR (ADM)died in an accident with an Ultra light airplane in Morocco just a few days later after signing of the contract…. The subs are maintained there.
Well then Thyssen Marine got it’s money out before Greece was economically put in chains by the EU.
Anyway, these little “suby’s” have excellent properties in terms of dwell time under water and are very hard to track down. I can imagine that, given the small number of boats built, these little things we’re not really paid the attention the deserve. On top of it, they are capable to carry nukes…

I would say we have a less and less places to read and write about
things like the ukraine war problem.
Saker, Southfront, and the German former Saker who separated from the main
site years ago were the only left.
Saker will probable shut down one day to avoid personal consequences (understandably).
Southfront has been shut down in the past temporary and seems to start to shift its aproach

About Wali, the famous Canadian sniper and his futile hunt for a Russian tank with St. Javelina alsou here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz0qkS6aT5c
Wali and his mate are rather frustrated, no safari as they expected.
Nightvision gone for a week is the new “Shoigu is dead from a heartattack”, “Gerasimov was arrested by Putin” and “Putin has Parkinsons disease” or Cancer, or Mad Cow Disease or has gone insane
For a war that none of us were expecting, it takes alot to commit to giving regular sitreps for an SMO that is now clearly going to last closer to 200 days instead of 100. Particularly when those sitreps are as detailed as Nightvision’s. Although Russia have done a hugely successful job in minimising their lossed soldiers and maximising the losses of the ukronazis (and the videos filmed seem to support the idea of a huge disparity in losses between the 2 sides), it must still be dispiriting in the process of sifting through all this to try and judge battlefield conditions- to see 1 video of Murdered russian soldiers with the Nazis acting like animals around their corpses, for every joyful 25 videos that show ukronazis bodies everywhere.
I say he should take his time, have a rest and then come back because this war is going to take a long time.
Yes. We miss a capable talent. The fuller the Saker team, the merrier the victory.
” for every joyful 25 videos that show ukronazis bodies everywhere. ”
You need serious help if you revel in the death of human beings.
“joyful” not for the dead UAF soldiers, but as retribution for the ukronazi scum openly mocking the dead bodies of heroic russian soldiers in the videos or pictures they take – that’s what I am getting at.You show a video of a dead russian soldier with his eye hanging out and try to make “comedy” out of it, or place a bowl of borshcht next to one, or of Russian soldiers getting shot in the kneecaps then of course its joyful to show these videos of mass ukronazis killed in response.
It goes right to the top too. Russian MOD just give the numbers killed, release some drone footage but don’t do some idiotic accompanying “joke” about their kills (or alleged kills in the case of UAF) like 404 tries to do
Human beings are in general a waste of space.
I celebrated along with 10’s of millions of Iranian/Iraqi/Syrian/Lebanese/Yemeni & others Bush Snr, John McCain and more recently Madcow Albright’s death. 3 less genocidal psychopaths on this doomed planet.
Should I feel guilty?
No, you should not! Just pray for their immortal souls.

In terms of military strategy one thing to note is right now Ukraine has to give this war everything. They can’t wait
Why?
Because as the ground dries in summer multiple options will open up for Russia and attack will be easier.
If they are going to attack with any success the Ukranian have to do it now. My guess is, and I do not know their plans, is that the Ukranian objectives are:-
1. Push Russia back by creating multiple fronts on the war and attacking Russia itself, while pushing West to do more, high use of drones to lower casualties and offset lack of air force
2. At a minimum contain Russia to the East of Ukraine and protect a port outlet. The further back in East Ukrainie Russia can be held the better the chance of protecting the West of Ukraine and sea access.
For 1, a false flag set up with NATO would need to happen very soon before ground conditions improve. If they are going to do it, likely second half of May would be my guess. That would allow poles to put troops in. US now has 100k 82nd Airborne (which is an army within an army) in Europe.
An early declaration of war by Putin may set some things back as he can then call the reserves.
Legally NATO will also be co belligerents if they are helping in any way the attacks. Which ofcourse they are.
One sad fact we should all mourn is the nuclear deterrent that many thought was written in stone has has been smashed like glass plates at a Greek wedding. One of the great certainties keeping world peace has fallen. America and Russia are now at war and madnen dance with huge danger.

I read that Russians were defeated around Snake island.
How is that possible?
How is is possible that Ukros still can use their airplanes?
https://readovka.news/news/96258
Ukrainian PSYOP, their downed Mi-8 copter became Russian.
However, Colonel Cassad says, unfortunately:
🇬🇧🇺🇦 Unfortunately, we have to state that the video with the destruction of the Mi-8AMTSh from Zmeiny Island is not the result of the work of the RF Armed Forces. This is a Russian helicopter destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The board was assigned to the 487th separate helicopter regiment. The deputy commander of the regiment for military-political work was also killed. Eternal memory to the fallen.
The island is now in the gray zone.
UPD: For especially zealous subscribers and advisers: if we are mistaken in something or receive incorrect information, we are not ashamed to admit it. And if we deny real combat losses, we will simply devalue the combat work of the RF Armed Forces and the memory of the fallen.
#Snake #Odessa #Russia #Ukraine
So be it. Go Russia.
I read that on his blog. He uploaded a ton of visuals supporting the line that it was a Ukrainian Mi-8. Then without support or reason he threw in the claim that it was a mistake and Russian was defeated. His blog reads more like somebody who has been compromised. Like those two YouTube goof balls Bald and Balder. Bald is now in a Russian prison. The other one Harold (or something) is hiding out in the US waiting for his YouTube savings to run out. When it comes to virtual reality nobody is who they present themselves to be. Nobody!
Its not easy. Like Shoygu hospitalized with a heart attack after Putin in a meeting called him a complete idiot, because he had used the first two month of the Ukraine war giving 100 000 Russian soldiers the Moderna vaxx.
Shoygu thought it would improve the Army’s performance injecting them with modern Western vaxx rather than
an obsolete Sovjet one called Sputnik. Shoygu is still alive but in intensiv care.
Intensive care? I just watched him alive participating in meeting with the army commanders before Victory parade.
Tommy likes to jest.
One should to read his peaces a couple times to see the sarcasm.
Their planes are in Romania and Bulgaria. They get NATO help for the attacks.

This phase one, except the narrow tank lines inflicting damage in the rear in WW2 are now upgraded to kalibr, iskander, etc.
Doctrine
Deep battle encompassed manoeuvre by multiple Soviet Army front-size formations simultaneously. It was not meant to deliver a victory in a single operation; instead, multiple operations, which might be conducted in parallel or successively, would induce a catastrophic failure in the enemy’s defensive system.
Not a feint, not a failure forced to withdraw.

One tactic spoken of early on was that Ukranian sabetours would be active in Russian held territory
By not seizing land the Russians can deal effectivley with sabetours and continue to grind the UDF

In the blog “ORBIS(niu:s)” there is an article by Scott Ritter.
Interesting…….. and it contradicts everything that the Swiss media write.
Since I was in charge of military service myself, the practitioner seems to me to have much more meaningful things to say than our leftists, who almost always dodge military service
Below is an excerpt.
This is a German blog, but no problem with Translator today.

Quote :
Responding to the speculation circulating about how much of the Ukrainian pie Russia is considering appropriating, and the West’s alleged intention to “Afghanize” the conflict, Ritter commented as follows:
We are already seeing that Kyiv is unable to control what is left. More importantly, the nature of this conflict is about to change dramatically. Earlier I said that President Putin spoke of a special military operation. This war is expanding beyond that. And it’s taking on proportions that a dedicated military operation is ill-equipped to handle. We are talking about a potential conflict with Finland if it becomes a member of NATO. With Moldova if it attacks Transnistria. With Poland, if it invades western Ukraine. Russia is a state governed by the rule of law, so I assume that Russia will eventually change the modalities and move from the status of “special military operation” to “general war”. From which a mobilization and a dramatic rethinking of the outcome of the war results. Ukraine will cease to exist. In this respect, Kyiv has just committed suicide. It could have stopped this war and survived. I think letting the West use them as proxies is more or less a guarantee that they’re done as a nation state……….

Part 2.
Ritter replied, remarkably argumentative and plausible:
No not at all. Donald Rumsfeld made the now infamous statement of the day: “You go to war with the army you have.” And Ukraine goes to war with an army it used to have. And this army is being defeated piece by piece. It was once a well-organized and well-equipped military force.
But according to Russian Defense Ministry statistics, which I think are fairly accurate, they have lost 50,000 people. These are the front-line troops, numbering 160,000. Ukraine is currently busy mobilizing reservists. They also send poorly trained battalions to the front. And at the same time they are expected to incorporate complex Western military hardware? It’s a suicide pill.
In fact, this is a self-soothing move by the West to say, “We’re doing everything we can to help the Ukrainians.” But the bottom line is that the Ukrainians are unable to effectively incorporate the heavy military equipment supplied by the West. Most of it they have never used before.
Come in addition. that they have no means to ensure maintenance even after they have received the devices and they make their way to the front lines. I can confirm one thing for you. Things break in war. And if there aren’t people who can fix this, it stays that way. Accordingly, it is unusable. The only thing the West is guaranteeing is that Ukrainian troops who enter with this equipment will die in battle. It’s a sad reality.”
At least 8 years full-time planning/preparing and these psychopaths didn’t even believe they’d need the heavy-duty toys to chase Russia out of Donbass and Crimea. I find this incredulous.
If it wasn’t for the biolabs then I’d think America’s covert war was a ruse and they achieved their goals in halting NS2 coming online. Maintaining the farce, lip service, in the hope slow Joe & Motley Crew would benefit at the polls.

Let’s bring a little bit enlightenment into the Snake-Island story.
If have found this interesting link:
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2022/05/russian-serna-class-lcu-becomes-the-new-victim-of-tb2-drone/
Worth to read it. More or less trustworthy ….. but the interesting part is:
Nothing(!) in this article contradicts the statement of the Armed Forces of RF from today.
In the NavalNews article the 2nd part of the story is omitted ….. as the General Konashenkov (honorable man, btw) forgot to mention the foreplay.
So – I use Occam‘s razor here deliberately – I assume both stories are right.
Here is (only MY – whole story – my assessment in two steps through the fog of war)
1) The Ukies bombed over the last days – with all they had – the hell out of the poor platoon the Russians left on snake island. Ok – that won‘t have been that much, but enough for the Russians to leave the (declared, I have a different stance) worthless and indefensible island.
During the retreat, a Russian LCU was sunk. Igor Konashenko forgot to mention that as well…..
2)The Ukies – drunken of joy and a little bit overzealously decided to „conquer“ the island back – something, the really annoyed and now (finally) woke up Russians revengeful waited for.
And so the Bayraktars, the MI-8s and some jets were shot out of the sky and snake island is currently ….. totally uninhabited.
That could be the whole story – nobody lied. Only omitted this or that ….
A personal note:
The performance of the Naval Command of the Black Sea Fleet of the RF is not from this earth. With the exception of Tsushima 1905 I can‘t remind any naval operations that bad and amateurish ….
Added all the problems the RF navy regularly encounters – sunken docks, burning ships (quite frequently btw), self-sinking carrier based jets …… it seems to be a lifetime job for a really good man.
Something is very wrong in the Russian navy!
Some more of this kind of operations and losses and nobody will show respect for the Russian Navy – that must be stopped. With highest priority.
I know what I am talking of.
Just my 2 cents – Regards all
If. Poland engulfs the Western Ukraine, Odessa, the Gaugauz, Bessarabia, Then, the Black Sea becomes a monstrous problem for Russia. Stuff offloaded in the Baltic Sea can be transhipped south to harass Rostov if they want to. The Russian Navy is being cornered, and the Crimea swallowed. Do they see this? The Moskva sunk means antiair now much harder. No transit of weapons thru the Dardanelles means nothing , then.
Navalize the Chechens, pray for accelerated enemy hull rust , and launch a thousand mosquito boats. But do something.
The Russian navy is being cornered? Russia has ships all over the world, and several are likely off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts even now. Plus, Russia has a number of ships in the Mediterranean Sea. I was thinking that Europe and the US are the ones being cornered.
The US politicians are now claiming that the war is theirs. I suspect this hasn’t fallen on deaf ears in Russia and that they are deep into planning exactly how they’ll respond. Perhaps their plans are already complete.
I’m no longer worried about just Russia and Ukraine. For me, the very real possibility that it will spread worldwide is a much greater concern. It’s become obvious that the politicians are believing the CIA propaganda in the same gullible fashion as the typical citizens are.
And now, they are becoming emboldened to behave more militarily aggressive by their false belief that Russia is weak, or has become weakened and defeatable. They are like the ancient Philistines who thought they had the great Samson under control, that is, until he pulled the entire temple down on top of them.
It’s not surprising then that we are in the dark about what’s happening. There are only two reliable sources of information: the Russian military and/or government and someone who is there as a witness, perhaps a journalist or citizen journalist. If it’s important, the military only tells President Putin what is actually happening. And then President Putin’s staff only tell us if he wants them to. As for witnesses on the ground there…if there are any, they are as silent as the tomb. We might get snippets of information from someone with a way to contact us, but it is just a snippet, not a clear description of the “big picture.” However, in a war, isn’t this the way it should be?
Nightvision was knowledgeable as a commenter as well, and he gave extensive answers to questions asked in his Sitrep, which showed he was familiar with all the details he was reporting. Great war report it was! Have you ever seen a better one? Classy person too, hope he is well.
A group of reportedly about 1,000 soldiers walked out with white flag. The Russians have taken into custody enough people now to be able to stitch together who else is down there. We wait, with a good level of inquisitiveness, for some perp walks.
It’s been 12 hours since I read this but I can’t find any confirmation. Anyone have a update?
Already answered a couple of times in the comments above!
For information, the Zelensky regime has ordered all the state employees who escaped from the country to come back in order to fight to the bitter end. It’s obvious they have their orders from Washington to use all the ukies as cannon fodder.
Before 24.Feb – 2/3 of Ukrainians of working age lived abroad to find work to feed their families. It’s a fair guess that most of the 2/3 were young men.
Until NATO countries start rounding up Ukrainian men living in their countries, the Kiev regime will have difficulties raising a new army
There’s a new U.S. trick: nuke-war talk. British Foreign Secretary and international dingbat Liz Truss said on 2022 May 4 she wants to “ push Russia out of the whole of Ukraine” using “heavy weapons” — throwing caution to the winds in favor of “courage,” plus threatening China with “economic pressure” if Beijing doesn’t bow to the bellowing of merry olde England. On 2022 May 1, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin bragged he intended to “weaken” Russia. On the same day, Chosenite U.S. Congressman and RINO, Adam Kinzinger, announced he had proposed a bill to allow the American military into Ukraine to fight Russians up close and personal. Last month, another member of that special Yahwéh-elected group, Democrat Senator Chris Coons, echoed his tribesfellow by saying that Yankeeland needs to send its own troops to die in Ukraine combating Russkies. Retired U.S. generals George Joulwan, Wesley Clark, and Philip Breedlove, seconding the call for American deaths, want the superduper nation to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Seth Cropsey, a maritime defense strategy expert and a former Secretary of Defense assistant, announced that the U.S. needs to be prepared to actually “win a nuclear war.”
And so on and on it goes. The U.S. State Department, CIA and other organs of the Deep State, along with their propaganda tools, the mainstream media in the U.S. and abroad (e.g., in Germany, the mag named Spiegel, run, of course, by the divinely-favored emissaries of that afore-mentioned “kill-’em-all” fiend of Old Testament mythology) are expanding their demands for nuclearly terminating the planet.
In short, the American regime is orchestrating all the seemingly “non-governmental” voices calling for nuclear war with Russland, aiming thereby to intimidate that nation. And, putting our money where its mouth is, the deranged Biden Disneyland in Washington is throwing billions of dollars down Ukrainian rabbit holes with no accounting. Just like the Mil-Industrial complex did in Afghanistan for 20 years. (The money later showed up in the form of palatial estates, mansions and villas in Dubai.)
As all the above shrieking and cat-calling is going on, Russia is preparing the Sarmat missile to dispense with the “indispensable nation” once and for all.
So have fun while you can, boys and girls of the orchestra.
Because this may be your last chance.
Not only that, but I live only a few miles from our Nucular Sub base in WA. Will we survive? I wonder. We are SOOOO invincible!
So when Truss, Kintzinger and their others lead the troups to combat the Ruskies, I’ll follow them. If not them in front, not me!
I remember a German song from the past with this lyrics “Besuchen Sie Europa, solange es noch steht!”.
I love Deutschland too but give us a translation.
“There’s a new U.S. trick: nuke-war talk.”
Let’s hope it’s just bureaucrats talk. I think Peskov made a mistake in an interview on U.S. television by the way he mentioned Russia’s nuclear doctrine. Later Lavrov made similar (nuke-war) statements. Whatever Peskov’s intention was, it didn’t work; it set off the nuke-war talk from both sides.
Thank you for the update.
On that note, happy mother’s day mother russia:)

The collective west supplies Rubbish!
You can say that again, Saker Staff. Same thing goes for the training too.
But Portugal takes the cake:
‘ 🇺🇦🇵🇹The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive howitzers of the “NATO” model from Portugal.
However, there is one caveat.
Portugal will hand over as many as five (!) Howitzer M-114 155-mm howitzers.
Such a “new” weapon was created in 1939, having managed to try it on the fronts of the Second World War.’
https://t.me/sputnik/3309
If true, is Portugal sending a (not too subtle) message to Nato? Where do they store these museum pieces? I just hope they’re not the horse-drawn variety.
______
The surrender of the two top officers of the Ukrainian marines brigade, and their willingness to talk on-screen, is a big deal indeed. Could be a sign that they are separated from each other in isolated pockets and that the regulars are breaking with the nazis. If anybody, these officers know their position is untenable. Don’t know what’s happened to the Azov commissars — there are sure to be commissars in any command group — attached to them. Got ‘fragged’ probably.
Another significant thing is that these guys are senior enough to know about…I don’t know, the presence of Nato personages holed up in the vicinity and their locations? Or the presence of certain lab equipment? Perhaps war crimes? Or about deployments by their higher HQ, perhaps in Odessa? I’m sure the GRU are going to have an interesting and long conversation with them.
So is the capture of Propasna a big deal. Looking at the map it is in a position to threaten the flanks of an RF/LNR advance from the east westwards towards Lyman in the north and Bakhmut in the south and then linking up with the forces coming south from Izyum — if that is the RF plan, that is. Who knows? At any rate Popasna dominates the area and threatens any Ukrainian forces/positions to the north- or south-east of it.
All in, a good day for the Forces of Good indeed.
Some good news from the front (Note, apparently he was eliminated on May 4th):
https://en.news-front.info/2022/05/08/lieutenant-colonel-of-the-armed-forces-of-ukraine-yury-savchin-killed-in-ukraine/
Near Kharkov, Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuri Savchin, who held the post of one of the highest officers of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was liquidated.
Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yury Savchin killed in Ukraine
Ukrofascist commanded an anti-aircraft division armed with American Stinger MANPADS. The Ukrainian military was well acquainted with Western weapons; for several years he served as a mercenary in one of the American PMCs involved in Afghanistan and South America.
Having left the mercenaries, Savchin again returned to the armed formations of Ukraine and fought against the Russian army, conducting a special operation on the territory of Ukraine. In March, the lieutenant colonel took part in the battles near Malaya Rogan, where subsequently the Ukrainian military, together with the teroboronists from the 226th troop battalion, perpetrated a brutal reprisal against Russian prisoners.

I am concerned that the “West” is moving into Ukraine weapons with depleted uranium components. Is this thought to be likely by the informed commenters here? The big concern in this of course is the risk of long term contamination of the soil, and health injuries.
No nato ammo can be fired by present ukr systems. Only the western manufactured units(presently being transported) are in synch with these ammo.
AFAIK, only some anti-armor projectiles are DU. Aside from the sabot rounds of the m1 abrams, the 30mm rounds used by for instance the A10(and guns of the same caliber) and anti-armor cannons might use them. But only by guns made by nato.
so I would not worry about this one at present. IMO.

The most obvious path cannot be taken. Finishing the capture of #Lyman, which is a rail hub, advancing towards Slovyansk, then SE towards Bakhmut, which would be attacked from #Popasna. This would secure major supply routes, encircle a large area & most importantly cut off large

If Nightvision is dealing with overwhelming spiritual warfare, may God rain down mercy on him. It can shut a man totally off.
Some people disregard the importance of small details as revealers of big political things; those who like to engage in “wild conspiracy theories” (as opposed to real conspiracies) do so, like for instance the one that says pres. Biden has “zero input” (Obama is the president, shhh). If you say he is the president, “no!” they say. If you say pres. Biden believes that “there is an aggressor and Ukraine is under attack”, the answer could be that the only cause for him is his family’s business deals in Ukraine. FM Lavrov pretty much said that too, but it could be a warlike statement since he’s in the war.
Here are some small details that disprove those two big conspiracy theories as well as any big ones: Jill Biden was on TV describing a conversation with her husband. She commented to him about the invasion and how terrible it is. He is not quoted but you know he is agreeing with her, and that’s all you need to know to be sure that he speaks sincerely on this subject. She said to him that she wanted to go to Ukraine for Mother’s Day. So, would she go alone if he were not in charge? He said to her “yes” and yes it was because he is the President. Really, such small details in a conversation between husband and wife are enough to cancel the theories that he doesn’t believe “there’s an aggressor and Ukraine is under attack”, and that he has “zero input” as president. Besides, it is also true that he does not care that much. He hasn’t gone to Ukraine since the war began. This was/is the big thing that happened: To wit, if he does not go when Zelensky has asked him – repeatedly – to please come, she should not go alone. It sure must have been striking to Zelensky that she came alone. It sure suggests, even means, that Biden doesn’t really care that much, after all. (Again, this is entirely an image war for the U.S.; Russia must not look stronger and that’s all. Even this is shown by these small details.)
One of the first things the First Lady said to Ukraine’s First Lady was that this war must end soon, kind of as if both were equally responsible (or it was a street fight). Ukraine’s first lady felt this was odd and looked to the side as she heard it. This was one of the things she commented to her husband, and he has said it more than once, and some pundits have too, that this war should end. It’s understandable why they say it, but it’s also asking Russia to surrender everything and leave, and it’s not like that. I would guess someone counseled the first lady on what to say or not to say and how. Anyway, what this odd statement shows, and why it’s odd also, is that there should have been negotiations before the war started! There are no advisors that rule, an ex-president calling on the phone every day, and the like. He rules. The president of the United States of America is Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and anybody who says it is somebody else is a “wild conspiracy theorist” (”Robinette”, I didn’t know that).
The blog will go on.
I hope that Nightvision is Ok. One’s personal health and wellbeing is of utmost importance.

@mod – for the humor challenged….
A few comments about this comment thread.
I repeat what I said about Nightvision.
It is absolutely his choice to say what he wants, or to remain quiet. He owes you nothing and neither does the Saker Blog.
Then, I would like to invite those that are unhappy, to go and read somewhere else. You are welcome to leave.
It was interesting. So, there are 2 or 3 (depending on availability) that offered help with a continuous sitrep and we organized that. No, nobody gets paid but we are staff to this sitrep. We are the ones ‘staffing’ this sitrep.
These volunteers seek out the most important happenings, refer back to the Russian Mod report to confirm their findings, write it up, and send it to me. I edit and post up the next morning. It is incredibly time-consuming.
This is how it will continue for as long as the volunteers volunteer and depending on if there are major moves to report on.
Up to now, the readers of this sitrep had a few objectives. I’ll list them in four categories:
– To grab information for their own blogs because they are too damn lazy to do the work themselves or to participate in good commentary or they simply look for information to sound informed themselves. When they did not get their fix, they screamed.
Cry me a river!
– To destabilize this sitrep.
So, what happened these two categories jumped in early on and did their screaming. They are usually one or two comment posters – the first comment to kinda ‘introduce’ themselves and pretend they are fine commentators, and then they destabilize.
– the adept commentariat
So, over time, some of the more long-term commentators, the cadres that are very much appreciated, started making their comments, and they swung the vibe of this comment thread, completely. This was wonderful to see and I thank you!
– those that are here to learn and ask questions and usually the adept commentariat answers those questions if there are answers.
This is a moving target. So for the future, we will continue in this format – with volunteers and then myself editing and checking and posting – and extra commentary by what has become a really adept commentariat.
There will also not be any more spoon-feeding. It’s time to graduate :-) If you don’t read the supplementary links given, your commentary will not be valued. In fact, you will probably be laughed out of the house and skillfully mocked by the adept commentariat who has done their homework.
Anyone interested in what is happening in the Ukraine (as a type of analog as to what is happening in the world) must at least read Martyanov, MoA, the Russian Mod who sometimes reports a number of times per day, and one or two of the commentaries. I also enjoy Brian Berletic from a western perspective. https://odysee.com/@LandDestroyer:8 Readovka.news does a good job of reporting the blow by blow procedures.
In fact, I would recommend people go and listen to the Martyanov video posted up this morning, and then consider how competent they are to tell us what Russia is doing and how they are doing it.
Tuesday there will not be a sitrep, unless we have major new developments. So, expect the next one on Wednesday this week. In the meantime, the commentary here remains open.
Cheers and enjoy the rest of this day or night! Take Care.
It is a bit of a Catch 22, the speed thing, for me I pray every day night, for many, again me included, likely to the point of obsession that it ends tomorrow …I watch the vids, holy shit, towns laid to waste, the people that left (the lucky ones; unlucky ones unmarked graves, those that stayed scared for life) they come back, to what? And most of the majority of this destruction is in the LDNR. Heart breakingly sad. That plays out to Odessa and the Polish border? OMG. Beyond sad.
I remember visiting the remains of what was my grandparents house….all the memories, that’s all that was left, went two streets over to where my aunt lived, a total waste ground, Farrington Gardens, Velsheda Court, smoldering ruins, gone.
Cheers M
Blame Zelensky. It’s all his fault for insisting on joining NATO all the way to the end! Then afterwards he said “we are sensible people” who understand this is not possible (why so insensible a month earlier?). He even said he wanted a nuclear weapon on top of joining NATO. As Brazilian ex-president Lula said:
“Zelensky could have said: ‘Come on, let’s stop talking about this NATO business, about joining the EU for a while. Let’s discuss a bit more first,’ Lula said, while arguing that US President Joe Biden, too, could have averted the crisis.” -RT
I blame Zelensky exclusively, because he could have avoided it by announcing that Uktraine would not join NATO, and by then seeking a meeting with Putin instead of a meeting after the war as he did many times.
Actors read scripts and follow the Director, watch the Lira vid on Komaninsky (sp) he owned Burisma, put up the money for the “sale”; Elinsy actor, become pres, and then in real life it happens….s’cuse me while I puke laughing. Scripted right out of Langleywood.
Langleywood; subsidiary of MI6 Integrity Initiative, all lines lead back to the Home Office.
Cheers M
Don’t like that so much. Doesn’t work that way. Zelensky might blame the Home Office too, act like the “puppet.” (Remember Nuremberg.)
I never disagree with you de Lepre. By nature, and on the site, we are anti-war. I cannot tell you what it took to even acknowledge a just war. There are some broken people here.
“So, there are 2 or 3 (depending on availability) that offered help with a continuous sitrep and we organized that. No, nobody gets paid but we are staff to this sitrep. We are the ones ‘staffing’ this sitrep.”
This website was already the best place to find news on the war through the links in the comments. Nightvision made it better, and this new Sitrep already has too.
The staffing term is perfectly apt amarynth, a team of staffers;)
You are surely right tranquilcoup, as all things must pass and the new rise up/
As for the comment above on burn out from the spiritual war, the battlers in the front line know this and are never broken, but fight to the very end. This website is definitely the best place to find news on the war, thanks to all..
I used to rely on RT but knew this website from occasional visits. It ended up making RT look like – poor RT. I appreciate RT too, but with Speeches, Statements, Interviews and Articles, blogs, Sitreps, etc., it’s not even fair competition. This is academic. People go to school here. Give me a break! Fantastic website.
