Personifies China- Russia “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for a New Era”.
The project is not simply a pipeline to move natural gas to China. This is infrastructure for Siberia and the Far East to grow and build around. And China, too, revitalizes its moribund Northeast with new, clean, cheaper energy, and new infrastructure as its pipeline carries energy to tens of millions of people and revitalized industry.
This also integrates the two nations closer, and whets the appetite in the Korean Peninsula for its pipeline and concurrent development. Both North and South want natural gas. It is an inducement to work out a peaceful settlement to the conflict on the Peninsula.
Thanks for the historic video. Shows the world what the future can be.

Gosh, fancy that… peace and cooperation potentially breaking out on the Korean peninsula.
And horror of all horrors, pipelines and maybe even road and rail links reaching into…my God… Russia and China!
Just think, also the stabilization of seemingly perpetual conflict and maybe NK and SK getting the chance to live happily ever after. What an absolute nightmare scenario for the Deep state and the Pentagon.
So do ya think the Hegemon will just sit by idly and let positive initiatives like this happen? Well actually no
…not if history is anything at all to go by.
It will also help with the pollution problem. Most of China’s air pollution problem is in the corridor between Beijing and Shanghai. The use of natural gas will help them reduce pollution in that crucial area.
A good and interesting article about Russia’s new icebreaker just finishing up some sea trials. A real beast:
Russia’s nuclear-powered icebreaker Arktika, touted as the strongest of its kind and a symbol of Moscow’s ambition to tap the Arctic’s commercial potential, returned to Saint Petersburg on Saturday after a two-day test run.
Destined to transport liquified natural gas from the Arctic, the giant vessel is 173 metres (570 feet) long and 15 metres high.
The run served to test the vessel’s functioning and manoeuverability, said Mustafa Kashka, general director of Atomflot, the company which runs Russia’s icebreaking fleet.
The nuclear-propelled ship however used diesel on its maiden voyage. According to its builders it can cut through 2.8 metres of ice.
A very informative video report, quite funny too. I loved the sour grapes from the NBC hired hand, I suspect it only increased Putin’s satisfaction. I’m curious, does anyone have any idea what price rate the Chinese are receiving the Russian gas (relative to global rates)? They deserve a good rate, given the volume they’re purchasing, the sanctions risk they shouldered and speed they made the decision.
Another question, anyone have any idea where mulga mumblebrain has disappeared to? Here’s a report on China, and no sign of the guy, that’s just not like him.
Finally, can anyone shed direct experience and insight on the Amur processing plant that Putin referred to?
Regarding price for the gas, no one knows, nor probably will know for years.
Putin once recently indicated it is decided from a basket of factors, not just the market price.
Since it is a 30 year deal, the price would vary in a smart contract over that timeline. And these are both smart partners in this deal.
It would be influenced by the value of natural gas over pipeline, value of LNG, value of next door transport versus having to transit through other nations. Then the changes in market in Asia versus in Europe, value in going to China versus going to Korea or Japan in the future.
For certain, it is going to be close to a low price, market marked. The volume makes the investment for the pipeline worth it. And the utility of the gas brought through Siberia and Far East makes that investment much cheaper for Russia. So, there are a basket of values for both partners also, when the totality of the project is looked at with a wide view. It’s not just X yuans for Y cubic meters of gas. Far more complex than that.
Opening up a pipeline like this is akin to constructing a railroad in its “peripheral” (but of course planned) effects.
Or, compare the TVA (Tennesee Valley authority) and its affect on development of the South and Appalachia.
Most importantly is the example set here, of two sovereign nations engaging in the equitable and natural (to quote Putin) exchange of energy in trade – without the interference of a hegemonic empire setting the rules, taking it’s cut or otherwise openly sabotaging the deal.
It is a good lesson to be learned by the religion of global dollarism. That theology’s days are numbered.
Part of Gazprom’s mission is to continue to expand the infrastructure at the relatively micro-level to extend delivery Russian gas to all Russian communities: homes, offices, factories, etc.
First, I want you to observe President Putin at roughly 3:30 in this video, date stamp is 2006. Look how exhausted he is. Then compare him to other more recent images of the same man. Apparently things 13 years later are going a bit better for our beloved country, Rossiya.
This huge gas transit line was, in my opinion, started just as much as a hedge against the continuing threats and depredations from us/eu as it was to increase business and cooperation with Katai. While the first tentative thoughts of the North Stream gas line started in the late ’90’s, actual construction did not start until 2010, completed in late 2011. North Stream 1 was barely operating when North Stream 2 planning started. However, the threats to stop NS 2 were constant along with continuous threats to somehow curtail NS 1 operations, in my opinion hence the Power of Siberia project.
All that being said, Russia has become the preeminent supplier of natural gas to two huge economic blocks, Katia and Europe. While it is business, pure and simple, both are hedges against economic attacks against Russia. The Land of Orcs will wither on the vine as, while it will continue to have a token gas transit business, never again will the orcs have the chance to stop major gas transit to Europe as it did but a few years ago in a ploy to blackmail Mat Rossiya to pay more in transit fees and virtually give gas to the orcs. Of course, the orcs stole vast amounts of the gas in transit anyhow, that is what they are wont to do. That has ended, too.
So, what we have here is a dual blow against enemies of Russia, blows from which Foggy Bottom and it’s armpit kanker sore Brussels will never recover, not that the LPG transit from US to Europe was ever much more than a pipe dream, no pun intended. Both new lines will guaranty continued and ever increasing trade between Europe, Katai and Russia. The next decade will be of great interest, and methinks this statement is a bit of an understatement.
