Army Command: Syrian air defense forces shoot down Israeli warplane and drone after attack in Quneitra
Quneitra, SANA – The General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces announced on Tuesday that the Israeli enemy’s air force attacked a Syrian military position in the countryside of the southern Quneitra province at 1 am on September 13, 2016.
The General Command said in a statement the Syrian air defense forces responded to the attack and shot down an Israeli warplane to the southwest of Quneitra and an Israeli drone to the west of Sa’sa’ town in the southwestern countryside of Damascus.
It noted that the Israeli attack came in support of the armed terrorist groups and in a desperate attempt to raise the deteriorating morale of their members due to the heavy losses they have suffered in Quneitra.
This is not the first enemy’s fighter jet, the first fighter jet that was shot down on August 21st with two Israeli helicopters. The downed fighter jets were attacking the SSA and providing an air support to Al-Nusra terrorists.
Israel denies everything, claiming that they are “fighting with terrorists” rather than helping them. No matter how many Israeli jets Syria shots down, Israel is going to claim that “nothing happened” and that they have not had any losses.

Foreign Ministry: Israeli attack desperate attempt to boost terrorists’ morale
13 September، 2016
Damascus, SANA – The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Tuesday sent two letters to the UN Secretary General and the Security Council’s Head on the recent Israeli aggression, considering it as “a desperate attempt to boost the deteriorating morale of the terrorist organizations after the losses inflicted upon them by the Syrian army in Quneitra Countryside and across Syria.
“Within the framework of its direct support to terrorists, Israel launched a series of flagrant attacks on the Syrian territory and the Armed Forces during the past few weeks,” said the Ministry, adding that these attacks came in line with the strategic alliance between the Zionist entity and the armed terrorist groups, particularly Jabhat al-Nusra (Fateh al-Sham).
The Ministry noted that the Syrian government has informed the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Security Council about the ongoing Israeli aggressions on Syria.
“In the early morning of Tuesday 13th, 2016, the Israeli enemy’s air force attacked Syrian military positions in the countryside of the southern Quneitra province. The Syrian air defense forces responded to the attack and shot down an Israeli warplane to the southwest of Quneitra and an Israeli drone to the west of Sa’sa’ town in the southwestern countryside of Damascus. There is no doubt that the Israeli attack came in support of the armed terrorist groups and in a desperate attempt to raise the deteriorating morale of their members due to the heavy losses they have suffered in the countryside of Quneitra and across Syria,” added the Ministry in its letters.
The Israeli cooperation with the terrorist groups has been so clear through supplying them with arms, facilitating the movement of terrorists and their weapons and equipment within occupied territory, and helping them in their attack on the UN forces along the zone of separation.
The Ministry said that Israel did not hide its support to the armed terrorist groups and the treatment of more than 2000 terrorists in the Israeli hospitals is clear evidence on such support.
The recent Israeli attacks revealed once again the deep relationships between Israel and the terrorist groups in Syria which we have repeatedly warned about in the letters addressed to the UN Secretary General and the UN Security Council’s Chairman.
It added that Syria demands the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary General to take all procedures, stipulated in the UN Charter, to punish Israeli entity for its offenses and force it to halt its aggression and immediately suspend its support to terrorists and armed groups, particularly Jabhat al-Nusra which was included in the Council’s list of terrorist groups and entities.
It is not possible for some UN Security Council members, who adopted defending the Israeli entity as a principle, to ignore the serious threat posed by the Israeli alliance with Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization, the ministry concluded.

It looks like every time an Israeli aircraft is entering the Syrian airspace it is being shot down by the Syrian airspace defense systems.
The Americans know about this, but their lips are sealed.
It also reminds me the situation over Donbass in the summer of 2014, when in effect a no-fly zone was created by shooting down every NATO- Ukro forces aircraft. Ukraine in interim was left without any air forces.
I will keep updating this SITREP during the day with new materials, if any.

If true, why no massive retaliation? Not the usual Israeli m.o.
Well, the obvious answer is that since Israel is attacking Syria which is under the protection of Russia and during the Russia – US ceasefire, they cannot admit any losses and they cannot “retaliate,” because they will suffer even bigger losses. But, it’s obvious that they are trying to start a humongous war to keep the occupation of Golan and other Syrian territories.

Scott, – again – thank you for your efforts in translation and explanation. This is so desperately necessary right now, IMHO! (And you too, Saker, who is possibly the world’s foremost teacher of “Introductory (and Advanced) Anglo-Zionism”.) Human lighthouses. Not very elegant, but it’s the best I’ve got right now. :-) You both give me strength to carry on (personally, my situation is pretty ugly right now!!)
Perhaps more evidence will be forthcoming but at this juncture I call “B.S.”. First that video doesn’t show anything. Second if they had shot down a plane they would show the wreckage. Third the entire area is under Russian radar and I have not heard Russia confirm this strike.
CalDre,
You wrote: “First that video doesn’t show anything. ”
You are viewing a military grade video taken at night.
Only the US and Israel funded news media produce perfect videos of shot down fighter jets. Like, for example, was the case with Anna-News that just had happened to be in Latakia mountains when the Russian jet was shot down by Turkey.
You wrote: “Second if they had shot down a plane they would show the wreckage.”
The Israeli plane was downed after it bombed the Syrian Army positions and was on its way back. It crushed on the territory of Israel.
You wrote: “Third the entire area is under Russian radar and I have not heard Russia confirm this strike.”
This was reported by the official Syrian news agency SANA. The same information is reported to the UN in the letter from the Syrian government. Russia has never issued any statements to deny this information. I trust the Syrian government to say the truth. I also trust the Israeli government to deceive.
Apparently the crash site has been reported as within the area controlled by the CIA mercenary terrorists so that confirmation with photo evidence is not likely to become public as the Israeli’s are in denial on this whole event. Someone monitoring Israeli newspapers may uncover the obituary-funeral notice as the pilot was believed to have died in the downing.
They ask for help from the Zionists to fight against the ‘regime of Kuffar’ ?
“Kuffar” who happened to be mostly Muslims and Maronite Christians ? These people are nothing but confused cowards.
It does not matter whether or not Syrians shot it ! They certainly tried it.
The fact is that Syrian Army and Air Force are becoming the most modern
and the most experienced military force in the Middle East. Neither Turkey,
or Israel, or Egypt had 5 years of non-stop war experience, good and bad.
Whoever is left from the original officer corps learned hard, as well as new,
lessons right on the battlefield and are now transmitting this knowledge to
new generations. And they have opportunity to fight former Iraqi officers,
variety of mercenaries, special forces of assorted western countries, Turkey
KSA, and Israel.
The moral of this army is incredibly high as they have no doubt what they
are fighting for, and that they are led by the competent officers, good
diplomats, proven leader, helped by committed countries, RF, Iran, and
Hezbollah. Reminds me so much of the Red Army in 1943-1944 period,
and Donbass resistance army.
As long as Putin-Lavrov-Shoigu highly integrated and principled diplomatic-
military strategy is adhered to , I have no doubts that Syrians will liberate their
country. Whether they will be also able to liberate Golan, or negotiate its return
(similar to Sadat-Begin 1979 agreement) is a big question. Following Syrian liberation,
Golan’s question is automatically on the table.

A short while ago there was a news item about a mystery drone that flew inside israel which the israelis tried to shoot down, but failed. Initially it was claimed in the media to have been operated by Hezbollah, then there were stories the drone used american tech. In the most recent reports I’ve read the Russians said the drone was theirs and it accidentally strayed into israeli air space.
The fact remains, regardless whose drone it was, the zionazis threw the best they had at it and failed to hit it.

After the incident with allegedly downed Israeli aircraft over Syria, the Israeli Air Force continued to conduct air strikes on the Syrian army’s positions in the province of Quneitra.
At least 1 Israeli air strike was reported at the Jandal Castle at the top of al-Shiekh mountain and another one targeted the Syrian army’s artillery base near the village of Ayn Burj.

MOSCOW, September 14. /TASS/. The ceasefire in Syria can contribute to the settlement in the country, but the key task is drawing the line between the moderate opposition and terrorist groups, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

“Of course, it (the ceasefire) gives hope that it will contribute to a peaceful settlement and create the necessary atmosphere for a political settlement,” he said, adding that “so far the ceasefire is very fragile.”
“The key task now is to wait until the line is drawn between the moderate opposition and terrorist groups,” Peskov said. “This is a key task, without which further progress is hardly possible.”

MOSCOW, September 13. /TASS/. Moscow is for the publication of its agreement with the United States on Syria and for seeking its approval by the UN Security Council without any amendments, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Russia concerned over Syrian opposition’s refusal to implement peace plan
“We hear Washington say it is not sure whether Russia will comply with the agreements in their original form, the way they were written down,” Lavrov said. “This is a strange statement, especially if one bears in mind that the agreements incorporate the United States’ reaffirmed obligations to separate terrorists from the moderate opposition.”
The United States, he recalled, assumed that obligation early this year.
“Soon it will be twelve months since then. Nothing has been done. Moreover, there’ve been speculations the moderate opposition should not be separated from al-Nusra (outlawed in Russia – TASS), but legalized altogether and possibly, merged with ever more groups in order to create an effective force on the ground for resistance to the Syrian army,” he said, adding that “all this will require a very frank discussion.”

“To ensure there should be no doubts as to how we will go about the business of implementing the agreement in its original form we have suggested making it public after all. Not keeping it secret, contrary to the wish of our US partners,” Lavrov said. “We have nothing to hide. Everything that is stated there is a matter of agreement.”
“We’ve assumed the commitment to comply with everything diligently and to encourage all those on whom the implementation of various section of this agreement depends to adhere to all this honesty and openly,” Lavrov said.
He said once again that Russia would be pressing for the publication of these agreements.
“And we suggest presenting this document to the UN Security Council for approval without any amendments,” Lavrov said.
Political process in Syria can no longer be delayed
According to the top diplomat, it is inadmissible to delay the resumption of the political process in Syria.
“Of course, we talked about the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, above all, in the light of the situation with strengthening the positions of terrorists groups and in the light of need for an uncompromising fight against the IS, Jabhat al-Nusra and all those hiding under their umbrella,” Lavrov said.

Ceasefire in Syria is desirable but hardly achievable goal
“The Russian-US document package agreed in Geneva on September 9 (9-10), which has come into force, is to help to start moving towards resolving the Syrian crisis in the context of solving anti-terrorist tasks and improving the humanitarian situation, strengthening the cessation of hostilities regime by all parties to the truce, and terrorists are certainly not among them,” the minister said.
“All this should lay the groundwork for resuming the intra-Syrian political process, delaying which is inadmissible,” Lavrov emphasized. “This is what we told UN Secretary General’s special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in Geneva.”
Situation around Jabhat al-Nusra
Lavrov stressed the situation around Jabhat al-Nusra, which is about to be excluded from the list of terrorist organizations, will be in focus of a serious conversation with the United States.

“A more pressing task today is to see to it that the list of terrorist groups is not abridged. There is too much evidence that former Jabhat al-Nusra, now known as Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia – TASS), is considered by many participants in the Middle East processes as a force that is to be kept in place for the change of regime in Syria,” Lavrov said. “I asked this question to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry directly. He categorically denies that the United States is planning to offer protection to al-Nusra, to spare it from the threat of coalition air strikes.”
“I have no grounds not to believe in sincerity of [U.S. Secretary of State John] Kerry when he pledged al-Nusra would remain in the list of terrorist organizations, but there is evidence that not everybody thinks so,” he said.
“Now one of the leaders of the Ahrar al-Sham group claims commenting on our agreement with the United States that the key problem in terms of the implementation of this agreement in continuing to have Jabhat al-Nusra as a terrorist organization not covered by the regime of cessation of hostilities,” Lavrov said. “Then, he said that al-Nusra has allegedly broken away from Al Qaeda and is working for the Syrian revolution.”
In his words, such comments appear in the British media as well. “They say the problem with the implementation of the agreement will be rooted in the fact that Jabhat al-Nusra has been unjustly listed as a terrorist organization,” the Russian top diplomat noted.

“It is a subject for a very serious conversation with our American partners,” he stressed. “Because I have no grounds not to believe John Kerry. But what is going on on the ground… we see that the coalition is unwilling to deliver strikes at al-Nusra positions. Those on Washington who are responsible for the military aspects of these processes could provide some information to us.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry on September 10 declared after thirteen hours of talks they had achieved an agreement on Syria. It envisages the resumption of the termination of hostilities regime, the disengagement of the opposition and the terrorists and the sharing of areas of strikes against terrorists between the Russian Aerospace Force and the US Air Force.
Lavrov and Kerry said they hoped the agreement would bring about a resumption of intra-Syrian talks. The UN Secretary-General’s special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said for his part that he would hold consultations with the Un Secretary-General regarding a likely date when such talks might resume.
