In the province of Raqqah, an intense fighting is ongoing in the village of Safsafah northeast of the town of Tabqah, controlled by ISIS. The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are struggling to secure this site in order to fully encircle Tabqah. In turn, ISIS terrorists have launched a series of attacks in order to prevent this. According to pro-SDF sources, over 20 ISIS members have been killed in the recent clashes in the area.
It’s clear that despite ISIS counter-attacks the SDF, backed up by the US-led coalition’s warplanes, helicopters, artillery and military advisors, have enough military capabilities to lay a siege on Tabqa and to retake this town from ISIS. When the town of Tabqa and the nearby dam are secured, US-led forces will likely advance against ISIS terrorists along the Euphrates outflanking the ISIS stronghold of Raqqah from the southern direction.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and its allied militant groups resized the town of Maardes from government forces in the northern countryside of Hama.
ilitants launched an attack in the area on April 4, using vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) to break government forces defenses in Maardes and fully captured the town by nightfall. The militants’ success became possible because the Syrian army and other pro-government units had lost momentum while they were preparing an advance on the nearby militant-held town of Souran. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s leadership used the delay to launch a large counter-attack.
On April 5, clashes continued in the area. Government troops backed up by artillery units and warplanes are making efforts to counter-attack against terrorists.
The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces allegedly captured the Al-Muzabad mount northeast of Palmyra. If confirmed, this would be the second mount located deep in the ISIS-controlled desert captured by government forces during the last 7 days.
On April 4, the so-called White Helmets reported that the Syrian Air Force’s warplane allegedly used the chemical agent sarin against civilians in the village of Khan Shaykhun in the province of Idlib. According to pro-militant outlets, the attack took place during a series of airstrikes in the area.
The Syrian Defense Ministry denied the usage of the chemical agent in the area. Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Syrian Air Force’s airstrike destroyed a warehouse, where ammunition dump containing chemical weapons was being produced by militants. The warehouse was reportedly used to produce and store shells containing toxic gas.
Some pro-government sources also raised the issue that the attack was made by militants themselves amid a series of military loses of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies in northern Hama.
Threats coming for Nikki Haley at the UN that the USA will go it alone to respond to chemical attack.
Peter Hitchens seems to the only actual journalist in the UK msm who is questioning the narrative.
http://hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk/2017/04/its-wmd-all-over-again-why-dont-you-see-it-.html
…As it is, I feel something close a physical pain as I do this.
Today’s frenzy over alleged use of poison gas in Syria is the 2017 version of Anthony Blair’s WMD in Iraq. Why can you not see it? Did you think they would do it in exactly the same way again? You are being assailed through your emotions, to act first and think long after, and far too late…
He sites other cases where the powers that be the US and the UK have played this WMD card to engineer regime change
Well, folks, here we go again. Again, threats against Russia who is morally responsible for the blatant false flag chemical attack in Syria and Assad is the guilty party in this attack, all verified by the proverbial ‘white helmets’, that little propaganda group funded by US and EU.
However, perhaps this Haley woman should sit back and take a deep breath before she threatens that US will act if UN doesn’t. However, she did exactly that, threaten that US would take action if UN didn’t.
With all due respect, my lady, (ask someone in service what that means when said in that sequence) this time you will not be, to quote Black Adder, ‘going against a bunch of people in grass skirts armed with slingshots’. You will be going up against a significant World Power who has quite some numbers of troops on the ground in Syria fighting against the terrorists who amongst other charming actions indubitably performed this heinous act which, for your information, they have done before in the near past. Are you insane or are you simply not intelligent enough to serve beyond local politics in the Deep South? And before you get your feathers ruffled I am from the Deep South, my dear, and I know politicians exactly like you, out of your league there and way out of your league in UN.
Who do you think you are to violate International Law for 6 years by constantly bombing in Syria and often bombing Syrian military units? Who do you think you are to actively form, nurture, aid and abet terrorists like IGIL, ISIL, ISIS or whatever they call themselves of the hour? You are patently insane to the point you make McCain, Kerry and Sam Powers look sane and that is a tall curve to climb.
Know this, my lady. You are not up against grass skirts, you are up against Syria that was old before US was formed. You are up against a country that had deep culture and society while your ancestors were still painting themselves blue. You are up against a country that has actively resisted US for six years and has, with the help of Russia in the last year and more, stopped USA cold in it’s tracks.
I would strongly advise you to think before you speak and know that any attack on Russia or her armed forces will have consequences you can not dream of and any attempt to pull a ‘Libya’ in Syria will be the end of any forces you send to attempt such a patent war crime attack. Perhaps you are not aware of the US bomb attack late last year when you bombed ‘accidentally’ a SAA unit for over an hour, killing 80 of them and wounding many more. There were Russian advisors embedded in that unit. Three days later a couple Kalibr missiles flew up a narrow mountain gorge west of Aleppo and took out your C&C node and turned your 30 some operatives in it to a smear on the raw stone walls. Those were the operatives who were in command of the ISIL terrorists fighting SAA in Aleppo.
Think before you speak and act, and that advice goes for the Government of the United States of America and all your minions in EU. My analogy is you are at this time firmly in June 1914 and the clock is ticking down to the beginning of the war that ended the world as it was known at that time.
Normally I would sign off with informations on my books but frankly I don’t think you have the intelligence to comprehend what I have written in them.
Auslander
If usa acts against any UN resolutions, notice recent efforts to remove the right of veto for majority vote ,then Russia must declare it dead and buried and fully protect itself and friends absolutely, send usa and associates packing .
This reminds me of my comment that WWIII is inevitable…
It is counter to common sense to believe that the Syrian government who is making great strides in regaining control of their country with Russia and Iran’s help would choose to use chemical weapons at this stage of the war. Chemical weapons are not really any more effective then conventional weapons in most cases. This story has many immediate holes in it and msm is not questioning it’s authenticity.
So what is it? Dirty actors killed innocent people by vile means to regain the initiative that Assad gov is evil and must be replaced. They can now open up the UN Security Council Diplomatic front to force their way into Syria for the “good of its people”
Do you see now that the Empire will not accept failure of its objective to put the Qatar pipeline through Syria and protect Israeli “security”?
You will either do the Empire’s bidding or be prepared for the world war which will ensue if they do not get their way. That is why I am a pessimist. Not recognizing the determination of the Empire is naive. They have proven time and again that war and the deaths of millions is perfectly ok with them to get their way. War is actually what they want and the bigger it is, the more opportunity there is for them.
If someone really wants a fight with you how to do prevent this? You hit them so hard once that they rethink whether they really want to go through with that. You don’t hit their little brother, an underling or some dupe on the street either. You don’t threaten that you will hit them or make half-hearted threats back. You hit the person that wants to fight you. Hard.
This world is getting medieval. We are going back to medieval mercenary armies fighting for alliances with no borders. There is no rule of law to protect the weak. The sooner people wake up to that, the sooner they can figure out if they want to fight it or roll over and stay a serf.
Maybe I’m over reacting I don’t know, but it seems to me Russia has lost its momentum.
They seem to have really put hope in Trump which for experience politicians was very dumb.
Now we have Trump threatening action regarding the faked chemical attacks
Added To threats from these other directions
– Colour revolutions
-Terrorist attacks inside Russia
-Threats in the central Asian republics
-Threats from the baltics
-Threats from Ukraine
And it’s only April!
It’s obvious this chemical thing was not an attack by Syria: they don’t have chemical weapons any more, have no reason to use them and sound reasons not to, and all indications is it was that terrorists were storing them in a building which was destroyed (and they have been shown to have been making them in a school they took over) — does anyone with any sense and knowledge not know this?
Who knows what the hell this unstable loose cannon Trump is going to say or do — if he himself even knows? ‘There is no there there’. The rest of the world needs to keep strong, be ready for anything, at a moment’s notice, and not trust anything the US says. ‘Dealmaker’ my foot!
So Trump is going with the old ‘lie to start a war’ as with WMDs in Iraq, etc. Who does this clown think he’s fooling? What he has shown is that he is just another US ass.

In the wake of the recent chemical attack that killed at least 70 people, including women and children, in the Idlib province of Syria, Trump was fired up about his administration’s next steps in the region.
During his press conference with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Trump was quick to put the blame for the use of the weapons of mass destruction on the Syrian government.
“These heinous actions by the Assad regime cannot be tolerated,” he emphasized.
The lethal gas attack “had a big impact on me,” he added, saying that this changed his attitude toward President of Syria Bashar Assad.

Blue,
The choice between Hillary and Trump was no choice at all, only which flavor of war with Syria will come.
Russia does not have the responsibility or obligation to save the world from war by standing up to the U.S. that won’t save the world from war anyway. In many ways it is in the best interests of the Russian people to give up on Syria and let the U.S. steam roller the country and its people. Is it better to take handouts from the empire or go to war with them and lose thousands and thousands of lives?
I don’t know. Sometimes I don’t know why I bother to post here or anywhere else. It won’t stop anything and all I’ve really accomplished is putting a target on my own back as someone who is resistant to being a willing aubject.
Can Russia isolate itself and sit it out while the US destroys Syria, and then the rest of the world? I think not, because Russia is a main target on the list of countries to conquer, and also a target of the daesh type extremists in Syria.
I’m inclined to agree with your statement. I don’t think Russia will sit it out and wait since the efforts by the empire are relentless.
What bothers me is there are a number of countries and their people who are putting their hopes in Russia saving the world from the grips of the empire but are not willing to do anything themselves to help push back and save humanity. Right now diplomats from other countries need to be pushing back on this Syrian gas attack and calling for a transparent multinational investigation into it before assigning blame to Assad. But they are not doing that because they are mice, willing servants to the empire.
Cowards are what makes the coming war inevitable.
