Early on February 27, reports appeared that aircraft of the US-led coalition had carried out strikes on government forces at the village of Salhiya in the province of Deir Ezzor. According to pro-government sources, the SAA responded by launching anti-aircraft missiles at the aircraft attacking their positions.
Later on the same day, reports appeared about sporadic clashes near the CONOCO gas plant between troops of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and US-backed forces.
On February 28, the situation in the area remained unclear, with neither side providing an official statement commenting on the reports. However, it clearly showed a high level of tensions in the area.
Also on February 27, the SAA and the Republican Guard advanced on positions of Ahrar al-Sham and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) in the Ajami district of Eastern Ghouta. According to pro-government sources, government troops captured a major part of it. On February 28, clashes continued there.
Separately, fighting was also reported in Nashabiyah which remained contested despite previous reports that it had been liberated by the Tiger Forces.
In the province of Idlib, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is still involved in fierce fighting with the so-called Syrian Liberation Front (SLF), a coalition of Ahrar al-Sham and Nour al-Din al-Zenki. Recently, the SLF has captured over 20 localities from HTS. Both sides use various types of military equipment and artillery pieces.
Some local sources speculate that Turkey is using the SLF to establish full control over HTS and to re-brand it once again, absorbing the terrorist group into the newly created coalition.
In the Afrin area, clashes continued but the Turkish Armed Forces and the Free Syrian Army achieved no notable progress against the Kurdish YPG.
From Canthama 4 1/2hr ago: “Have faith in the Allied forces high command, they are doing an excellent job in coordinating this battle with minimum civilian casualties, against all odds and threats from NATO countries (all the recent PR from US, UK, France, Germany, Denmark etc… on crimes in Ghouta, all coordinated NATO effort to delay the inevitable”.
Much info in his post, above that final para.

Latest report in full:
”
The 5 hrs daily ceasefire is over (2nd day), not a single civilian was allowed to leave East Ghouta, terrorists continue to hold them all hostage. This is Aleppo city 2.0 all over, same MO, same events and it will have the same results. East Ghouta will be liberated at minimum civlian casualties.
Last night in a dare move, the many Syrian forces severely broken the very well built and strongly fortified defenses in many areas on the pocket, keep in mind the Tiger Forces are leading most of the ops in East Ghouta but not all, and TFs MO is minimum reports leaked to the press. So far all the actions are located in:
1) SE – Nashabiyah-Autaya axis
Nashabiyah, that was once declared liberated last week when it was not, is under incredible pressure, there is no more safe way out for terrorists inside, it is basically neutralized pocket and clearing is on going and it could be announced rat free anytime in the future. Think of Deir Hafer ops in western Aleppo, same thing. This is incredibly mined and full of traps and tunnel.
Autaya is funadmanetal, after it, only farms toward urban areas. Autaya is linked to the frontline at Al-Shifuniyah further north (explained below) that saw massive gains last night.
2) East – Al-Shifuniyah-Mesraba axis
Major gains last night with the complete liberation of one of the toughest defensive lines in East Ghouta, at Hawsh ad Dawahirah, the TFs and RGs have broke thru the terrorist’s lines and are now inside Al Shifuniyah village itself. The key here is to control the important military base (the same Alloush enjoyed his military parade) and the high ground on the airdefense base. These two sites control the vast farm land toward the urban centers.
This frontline connects to Autaya, thus bring controlling them all would basically cut the original week old pocket by half in size.
This frontine may aim to connect to Mesraba thus connecting to the Army Armored Vehicle Base (so hardly defensed few months ago), and link here would cut of Douma and force it to reconcile. This is where the vast majority of civilians are located in east Ghouta, so clearly the alies want to cut it off to force a deal while focusing on the other complicated urban centers.
3) NW – Harasta
This is connect to the above frontline, it intends to squeeze the terrorists out of the main highway, pushing them inwards toward Douma while helping to flank Madyara and Mesraba, recent breakthrough by RGs are putting the terrorists in al Zahle in the spotlight for the first time in years, and once this neighbourhood is liberated, the road is clear to flanking Madyara and Mesraba. More gains must happen in the next few days on this front, so the coordination between efforts on 2 & 3 happen and Douma is fully isolated and sealed.
The amp below shows the core of the real battle for East Ghouta, as you can see, it was hardly touched by ground forces in the past week, but this is the end of it.
http://wikimapia.org/#lang=pt&lat=33.528374&lon=36.343117&z=13&m=b&gz=0;363286113;334989617;1716;347779;145912;141704;327873;37217;782775;0;822257;430767;262641;412167
Have faith in the Allied forces high command, they are doing an excellent job in coordinating this battle with minimum civilian casualties, against all odds and threats from NATO countries (all the recent PR from US, UK, France, Germany, Denmark etc… on crimes in Ghouta, all coordinated NATO effort to delay the inevitable).
A false flag is due, expect it to happen, NATO/Israel are in desperate mode at the moment.”
Thanks for the update. Good analysis.

Weary from war reporting, takes time to paint a rosy picture of Syria’s future:
”
PNW, though we hear many things on the MSM or alt media that puts concerns or even threatens Syria’s integrity (most of the news are planted and on purpose to create chaos and fear), I am very positive Syria and its allies have turned the corner toward a very bright future. There are many reasons for that but will just list some:
1) The people of Syria will emerge more united and willing to build an even brighter Nation. Tough processes like the Syrians went thru, usually, results in controlled zombies if the Nation loses the war or emerges as a leading beacon in the region if it wins. Syria is way passed the half way to win it. Lets reflect on this very thought related to Syria’s very enemies on its borders after a victorious Syria.
2) Syria’s key richness is its people and culture, it was widely preserved during 7 years, this is the foundation to the rebuilding and that is why the chances are great that Syria will shine in the future again.
3) Syria’s gas reserves in its legal borders (including offshore & Golan Heights) are immense, just waiting to be explored, this could turn Syria’s development upside down in a decade or so (think of China, UAE, Qatar or even Russia’s 21st century type of developments).
4) The war of aggression to Syria brought Syria’s real allies closer, such as Iran, Russia and Hizballah, this geopolitical event has changed to face of the middle east for many decades to come, it is a reliable partnership forged in steel and blood, type of partnership that endure.
5) With the liberation of East Ghouta, massive diplomatic inflow will return to Damascus, the reason that many embassies are not opened there has nothing to do with ties to the Syrian Government but due to safety and security of their personnel, you remove this threat, voila, dozens of embassies will reopen in a month or two.
BTW, that is the reason NATO continues to fund the terrorists in East Ghouta, keep Damascus hostage and block diplomats to be there, meaning NATO’s narratives tend to prevail at the UN.
6) Soon the BRI’s investment will hit TMENA in full, when it does, wealth will be spread out beyond the evil fews (GCC/Israel), with a better spread wealth on TMENA, radicalism will be reduced and better leaders will emerge, prosperity will resume, but for that to happen some key players must either be dealt with or tamed (KSA,Qatar,Turkey and Israel).
It may be too beautiful of a picture above, but it is certainly possible, and the key is and always will be, time is in favor of Syria, this several millennia society knows a thing or two that the young bullying kids in the west will take thousand of years to learn.”

Even though its beyond obvious that any chemical attack in Ghouta will be a provocation from the Terrorists and their master Imperialists, people within the Empire will still believe it is from Assad and call for war. And there will be no care for how many civilians their forces kill. How many westerners read Saker and the handful of other anti Empire sites? Very few, most are more than happy to eat up the lies handed out to them each day. They have no desires to be told the truth that their world view is completely wrong. The majority of citizens of the Empire have become nothing more than a horde of cattle.
What about Europe now, the home of the intellectuals ? A land between the Oceanic and Eurasian world spaces, where people are wealthy and happy? It is gone! The Catholic/Nordic Social Democratic western model of civilisation form that was between 1950s-90s is dead, in its place a purely Anglo Saxon/Zionist form of death-worship, devoid of any philosophy beyond sheer materialist Greed, War and destructive Postmodern immorality, has taken its place. We who have not a drop of Russian blood, but beleive in an alternative to the empire, have taken Russia as our spiritual home. Russia is even getting blamed for the snow and frost wind that now hangs throughout Europe, and in truth it is a glorious sight, clean, pure and covers this decaying continent in a white shroud, as if ready for its funeral.
From the endless Taiga this wind sings the eternal, sincere hymn of Russia the heartland of Eurasia, cut free from the humid, bacterial and insipid climate of the Oceanic enemy. This land soon to be greater than the Tsar or Bolsheviks could imagine, even spreading its defending force into the cosmos, the Anglo Empire recently had to admit Russia has technology and weapons more advanced than their own….
Helping terrorists, supporting genocide, telling lie after lie….The world is sick of this Empire. It is obvious to the so called ‘Third World’ these imperialists are causing untold suffering across the continents. African and Latin American people have no time for the Anglo Empire with its debt and terrorist puppet scheming, they want to be alllies of Russia and China, and thats why they buy military equipment from them. No one admires these wretched tragic western characters any more. Who can admire such ridiculous figures as Trump and May, Macron and Merkel and the whole of that gang, these completely immoral people who spread war, contradiction, economic misery and spiritual decay. Nothing good comes of being an ally of the Empire…
Yes, 99% of what the Empire now utters is created for self delusion, fake news IS THE engine, the only force which keeps it moving, albeit not really, atleast virtually in the prallel realm of the dead, or should we say the un-dead, which all of the Empire now REALLY is, there is no true life in a lie (and who is there who could measure the monstrosity of this mountain of lies ?), no matter how much one tries to believe it. Intellectually Europe and the Empire is now a huge desert with dead corpses strewn about everywhere.all power of life is draining out, the faster, the more they want to believe the lie. It’s a death vortex.
The ‘enlightment era’ now comes to it’s conclusion, total irrationality (there is no rationality in irrationality), mass psychosis, it’s truly barbaric roots (The cult of self) lying bare in the all scorching burning light of truth. Europe is dead, in order to be re-born it really MUST die before.
“According to pro-government sources, the SAA responded by launching anti-aircraft missiles at the aircraft attacking their positions.”
This bit of news made my day. Syria needs to defend herself. Hopefully, she will eventually succeed in shooting down one of the US terrorist airplanes, making the US Americans pay a price for their campaign of terror against Syria.
The whole world needs to make the US pay for its terror. It’s the only way.
“Early on February 27, reports appeared that aircraft of the US-led coalition had carried out strikes on government forces at the village of Salhiya in the province of Deir Ezzor. According to pro-government sources, the SAA responded by launching anti-aircraft missiles at the aircraft attacking their positions.”
I didn’t see this reported at Sputnik, RT or Al Masdar. Does anyone know where this news was sourced from?
HTS is soon to be no more, only Turkish sponsored rebel are allowed in Idlib from now on, and they all have to consolidate into this new SLF if they want to remain there and fight the SAA. When the jobs done there, and all of Idlib is under Erdogan”s control, it”s onto Aleppo for Erdogan and his head chopping buddies to do exactly the same thing there. A Russian nuke has Erdogan”s name on it now and it may not be long before it drops.
