Yeah, once again, I am going to engage in that silly business when I pretend that my blog is a “respectable media outlet” and, as such, to give myself the proper credibility and gravitas I have to copy Time magazine and others and chose a “man of the year”. This year, however, this truly was a no-brainer. The 2016 “man of the year” is, of course, the American “basket of deplorables“.
No, not Trump. Trump might well be Time’s man of the year, but as far as I am concerned, this man is just a promise, and he will remain that to me until he delivers on what he has promised the American voter. No, the real heroes of our story today are, of course, the millions who dared defy the Empire and who voted for Trump.
Tthe American voter who inflicted the worst bitch-slap to the US propaganda machine (aka “the mainstream media”) ever. What happened in this election is nothing short of the biggest defeat in the history of propaganda.
As an ex Cold Warrior who studied the Soviet media for a living, I can say that the US media nowadays is infinitely worse in its willingness to not only lie, but condescendingly deny the obvious, show a total lack of conscience or even basic decency. US presstitutes give prostitution a bad name.
The American voter was subjected to the most intensive (and, probably, expensive) propaganda barrage in history. Keep in mind that in overtly dictatorial regimes most adults realize that they are being lied to. In the USA, every American is brainwashed from birth to believe that the US press is the best and freest in the world and that the US democracy is also the best and freest in the world. To vote for Trump, the US voter had to go against every single sacred dogma the US Empire has tried so hard to indoctrinate its subject in. This is far harder than one would think. Those interested in this topic can consult this article on the Asch conformity experiments or Milgram’s famous experiment on obedience and authority.
Furthermore, the psychological pressure was so intense that I can testify to the fact that many American were actually *afraid* of admitting that they would vote for Trump. The atmosphere of rabid hatred against Trump and total intolerance and demonization of his supporters was such, that many Americans decided to hide their preference for Trump. Some even pretended that they would vote for Hillary. I know people who even lied to their own family members.
And, predictably, in the typical Neocon-style, as soon as it became clear that Trump would be elected, the US presstitutes began pouring out their hatred on the American people. If in Britain only the old people could vote for the Brexit, in the USA all the Trump voters were described as poorly educated racists (“racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic” to quote Hillary). I don’t recall ever seeing such an outpouring of hatred towards an entire nation (except, maybe, the typical hatred the Russian liberals have for the “common” Russian people).
But, apparently, the American people have had too much lies told to them. From the pseudo-patriotic ramblings of Dubya to the endless list of promises betrayed by Obama – the “common” folks whom Hillary referred to as the “basket deplorables” finally fought back the only way they could – they voted not only for Trump and against Hillary, but also against the regime, the polity, the power structure and the 1%ers who control it.
The main consequence of this vote will probably not be an amazing Trump presidency (I have the greatest reservations about the man and his entourage) but the fact that yet again the very legitimacy of the US political system has been discredited.
Think about it: thanks to the “Occupy Wall Street” movement it has become mainstream public knowledge that the USA are run by about 1% of its population (in reality it is far less than 1%, but nevermind that). So far from being a regime “of the people, for the people and by the people” we know all know that it is a regime “of the 1%ers, for the 1%ers and by the 1%ers”. Strike one. With the Trump election, we know also see that the USA is run by a bizarre cocktail of minorities who only have one thing in common: their hatred of the majority. Strike two. And, last but not least, it is now also clear that the US media is the most obnoxious, immoral and arrogant propaganda machine in world history. Strike three.
Where does this leave the Empire? As a joke or as an abomination. Probably a mix of both.
How about the USA themselves? They are clearly an occupied country, occupied not by an external invading force, but by an internal enemy who subjugated the USA to its own alien agenda and worldview.
As for the American people, at least the “basket of deplorables” they are now the objective allies of all the other nations on the planet who struggle to free themselves from the yoke of the AngloZionist Empire.
By voting against the Empire the American people have sent a powerful message to the rest of the world “not in my name”. In Russia, this message was received with outright enthusiasm by the people even if experts were mostly much more cautious. I have always said that there the “other West”, the West of the regular people who do not support what their rulers do, but who are unable to meaningfully oppose it. The vote against Hillary showed the world that the American people don’t want an Empire, all they want is make *America* (i.e. the USA, as opposed to world Empire) great again.
Oh, I know, I already see the trend in Trump nominations. And yes, believe me, I am extremely skeptical about all this. But none of that healthy skepticism makes any difference to the fact that the vote against Hillary and the AngloZionist 1% rulers of the USA was a seminal, beautiful, liberating and heroic moment in for not just the USA, but for the rest of the planet too (with Hillary, we were all heading for a nuclear war with Russia).
The way the American “basket of deplorables” defied their oppressors was nothing short of beautiful. And this is why the American “basket of deplorables” is my “man” of the year 2016.
The Saker
PS: for all those who will get upset at my use of the word “American”, I have just added the following paragraph to my “terminology” page:
Addendum: American. I guess I should also explain why I do use the word “American” when the correct word would be “USAn” or “United Statesian” or something equally ugly. Well, precisely: these are ugly. Alas, there is no equivalent in English to the Spanish “Estadounidense“. The same thing for Russian which also lacks such a word and uses “Amerikanets/Amerikanskii” instead. Okay, I know. the USA is a small subsection of the Americas and Americans are obnoxious (and ignorant) for calling themselves “Americans”. But, in truth, “USAns” are “Americans” since they live in the Americas, it’s just the implied exclusion of the others from that category which is so irritating. So, anyway, I apologize for this surrender to modern-speak but I just don’t have the courage to fight this losing battle and, frankly, I have bigger fish to fry. But yeah – I am therefore guilty as charged :-)
Nice article, Saker. I agree it was the vote itself that stands out with so much promise. Roughly 1 in 4 voted against Clinton, 1 in 4 voted for her, and 2 in 4 didn’t vote. What promise lies dormant or waiting in that non-voting half of the US population remains to be seen, just as the promise of Trump remains to be seen.
Just how much does the US population understand about the propaganda web it lives in, and is raised in, as you say, from birth? I’ve seen commentators such as Peter Lavelle and Joaquin Flores state that the alternative media is now more consumed than the mainstream media, but I await better statistics and analysis to demonstrate this.
It’s true about the reluctance of the Trump voter to admit to supporting him. I voted for Stein (and obviously now never again), but I support what happened with Trump – and yet this is impossible for me to talk about with almost all of my friends, peers, and even my Buddhist sangha. These people whom I love will never understand the bullet they dodged. It’s strange that I can only come here to discuss these things. Funny situation. But oh well – we have a future now, and we can see what it holds, and maybe even dream of new things.
Really alternative, and totally independent media (e.g. Jim Stone’s site), and the latter followed the election very competently, and very closely, thinks the establishment (Hitlery) did not even get 10% of the real vote, not even in Detroit. That seems to be common sense. There certainly was monstrous voter fraud in every possible way, Hitlery/Huma/Podesta seemed to have no visible support, and they certainly planned to steal it. Still the monstrous JM$M liars & charlatans (e.g. Michael Moore) are shamming that Hitlery won the popular vote, it just shows how monstrously corrupt the whole thing is.
@Laika, In addition to what you say about the frauds perpetrated by the HRC campaign there is another that may have had a large effect. [From jonrappoport dot wordpress dot com/2016/10/31/biggest-election-fraud-in-history-discovered-in-the-united-states/] Fraction Magic vote counting – Bev Harris of Black Box voting dot org /fraction-magic-1/
GEMS (Global Election Management System) A real-time demo of the most devastating election theft mechanism yet found, with context and explanation. Demonstration uses a real voting system and real vote databases and takes place in seconds across multiple jurisdictions.
Over 5000 subcontractors and middlemen have the access to perform this for any or all clients. It can give contract signing authority to whoever the user chooses. All political power can be converted to the hands of a few anonymous subcontractors.
“It’s a product. It’s scaleable. It learns its environment and can adjust to any political environment, any demographic. It runs silently, invisibly, and can produce plausible results that really pass for the real thing.”
Provides solutions and actions for immediate deterrence.
GEMS is marketed by several companies under different names. Its key feature is that votes are counted in decimal fractions – so that they can be apportioned, adjusted, scaled for ANY purpose. And it can process votes from any number of jurisdictions at once by anyone in the world with database access.
According to Wikipedia, after having been sold by Diebold to ES&S, (six years ago, in 2010) it was in use in 1,400 jurisdictions in 33 states and serving nearly 28 million people. Probably several times that many now.
I second your recommendation about Jim Stone. He found out this week that the Clinton votes in Detroit were multiplied by six.
On Oct 1 he had posted a GIF copy of HRC’s own pollster/strategist (Benenson Strategy Group) report which showed her solid support dropping by about 10% per week from 33 to 13% by 10/13 [also at rense dot com/general96/hillaryagenda.pdf]. So by Nov 8 she was probably deep in the single digits. You can know it was never good for her when Trump was pulling in thousands to his rallies and she tens.
I am proud to say I am one of the deplorables.

Count me equally Deplorable! Thanks Saker! If the Deplorables in Great Britain and the United States can do it- the Italians, Dutch, French, Polish, Hungarians, Australians and Canadian’s can do it!
Saker,
You nail the essence of the campaign and the election.
This was an insurgency that won.
The battle was the beginning of a long war Trump will fight against the Tyranny in DC, with his Movement at his back.
If he stays true to his words, keeps loyal to the People (those Americans, the Deplorables), he will make the world safer and the country prosperous within, by its own hands and creativity.
It is Trump’s business acumen and clever politics and a populist philosophy versus the ideologies of Elites.
His uncanny Media Mastery made it possible, however improbable it looked 18 months ago and all along the way.
The Basket of Deplorables made it happen because they held fast to their very uncommon common sense.
Larch, if you allow,
you gave me the first valuable evaluation about the Donald 2015 along the line
‘he is a doer and a successfull one, knowing to do deals, not an ideologue …’ (such the essence)
it was the beacon to me and everything since fell in it’s place. ( Same with doublehelix).
How many unknown basket-hearts feel similar …
My presonal diary 2015/16 since is full of Donald -lines.
You are with the Saker and Vlad nearest to my own feelings, together with C.G.JUNG and W. Döbereiner
my teacher in astrology.
The spirit you six made and make readable keeps me in my 75th years with fascination and vigor and filled with nearness to God the scooper and God the word and the ire of the conned.
And Bro is witness, (I told him), that in my personal story since 36 years, I’m an american native, having has entered European shore … without anybody knowing it … only me, till today.
Mundanomaniac, I am deeply touched by your words.
Many of us are in similar shoes. Open minds and open hearts helps keep a sharp eye for Truth. Some times we see it, and it is good to share.
Glad the things I’ve written assisted along the journey of your life.
There is definitely a spiritual uprising that lifted many minds and hearts that attaches to Trump’s victory. The Movement has awakened the dormant American spirit. We now have a chance for Peace and the cessation of hegemony. It’s not a sure thing by a long shot. But it is an opportunity.
Your words honor me too generously.
Have a blessed Christmas season.
As a deplorable, I thank you Saker.
Who are we?
I would say mostly Gen X, the forgotten generation who have long shunned politics.
What we are seeing today is a generational shift. This might be the last baby boomer presidency.
Gen X are a LOT different than boomers. The fourth turning describes us pretty well, but we are very hard to define. Fractal. I like how that book describes our challenge like a game of doom.
We have many surprises in store for you.
Demographically, our numbers are actually the largest eligible voting block. (4th T #s)
We are now between the ages of 35-55. We have about 90 mil. Millennials have 62 mil of voting age and 26 million below at present. I hope to work with all generations as this is the big one folks.
http://fourthturning.com/ Crunch the numbers for yourself.
I agree that Trump is an unknown, but he sure spoke our language.
Enough fake bullshit.
And if he let’s us down, no worries, we will get er done anyway.

I think this cycle is what the Bible alluded to as “the walk in the shadow of the valley of death”.
To the dawn.
It is possible that those who voted Trump (fewer than voted Clinton, or Romney last time) did so not for the excellent reasons listed in the article but for others less plausible – immigration is not the problem, nor is Islam, protectionism and fiscal incontinence (as described by Trump) are not a good idea, and making “America” “great again” could mean any number of things. Obviously I don’t know why people voted, just some of the reasons voiced on camera. It would be interesting to know. Also, for sheer bloody-mindedness, should the Brits and Italians get a mention? And Putin and Lavrov, again, for their skillful diplomacy.
all this sceptical fog
only interesting to me is, what your heart is speaking
sorry but what my brain was learning my life
my heart knew from the beginning
how old are you?
So did they vote against the lethal combination of neoliberalism and neoconservatism, or did they vote for someone who agreed that immigrants, Muslims, and China are to blame for their ills?
I think it is quite simple. If someone despise you and call you deplorables, you obviously gets p….. on that person.
Further what mean something to people is jobs, and Trump was the only one promising jobs and telling reality as it was, let alone the fear of migrants taken them.
And dont forget,it was one choice out of only two.
All people vote as they do for different reasons and have different primary agendas.
Some are genuine racists, some are old-line conservatives, some are neoconservatives and tea partistas, some are disgruntled white men, some are embittered white men who have lost their livelihoods, some just want to “throw the bastards out” and force a change of some kind, etc.
Many of them, however, are former Obama supporters.
Many of them, however, are women and some of those are surely feminists of one stripe or another, or perhaps just “strong women.”
Many of them, however, are African Americans and Latino/as.
Some unknown number of them are even “left progressives.”
>>>>All of them were subjected to the onslaught of propaganda, including that disguised as “neutral” and scientific truth (such as polls, etc.) and common knowledge (“Of course Trump is a monster and a pussy-grabbing joke of a man, and Hillary is a “serious” experienced candidate who has moral authority because she is breaking the glass ceiling”).
So regardless of people’s personal reasons for voting for Trump, I agree with The Saker’s basic point here.
Whether or not “we” here (enlightened as we might suppose ourselves to be) agree with other citizens’ reasons for voting for Trump, it can be argued that all who did so can be seen as acting transgressively.
Katherine
Dear Katherine, I respect your posts always.
I question the use of the word ‘transgressively’.
I assume you mean that we ‘transgressed’ against the status quo.
But would ‘heroically’ not be a better word?
Could you please explain that a bit?
Franz:
Thanks for your cordial comment.
A quick definition of what I mean is this:
transgressive = involving a violation of accepted or imposed boundaries, especially those of social acceptability.
This is not my *exact* meaning, but is close enough.
I didn’t mean to say that voters acted heroically heroically.
It is not my choice of word and IMO it goes a bit too far.
If someone else wants to say that, he or she certainly can do so.
I am making a narrower point in response to the comment above that I was replying to.
Cheers, Katherine
Katherine
So they win the award for ignoring the mainstream propaganda. They win it despite agreeing with the Trump propaganda.
(You say “Many of them Obama supporters” etc. Was it not rather that some Obama supporters etc. couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Clinton. They didn’t vote for Trump. Remember he got fewer votes than Romney. In other words, let’s not exaggerate what happened. It’s enough of an event that the elite’s propaganda didn’t work and the electoral system allowed a bloviating buffoon to become President.)
Katherine
Another interesting point in your interesting response – the virtual “scare quotes” around “enlightened”. Scare quotes are not needed when we are talking about jingoistic, racist bigots who soak up the crudest of propaganda. They are needed when we are talking about people who’ve lost their livelihoods because of globalisation and the free movement of labour. I would be as resentful as any other low-skilled worker in the circumstances. I would probably direct my resentment at the wrong people. Immigration is only a zero sum game when neoliberalism strips society of its checks and balances and tears up the social contract. Americans, of all people, should know that immigration can work wonders for the economy. Likewise, trade. Trump’s billionaire chums are as culpable as any others among the one percent.
why “men”..? why not people…:)?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wos-dDxpJlQ
And this is why the American “basket of deplorables” is my “man” of the year 2016.
Well, because I am a sexist pig and I don’t believe that women are humans anyway. What did you think?
The Saker
Yeah, why drag the stinking carcass of Political Correctness into the discussion to create unwanted distractions?
PC is one of the tools used by the 1% to dumb down and controll the deplorables. It prevents people from speaking coherently.
Here, we aim to keep it polite but we dont want it at the level where PC is injected and serve to hamper and stymie the discussion.
“Man” of the year is fine. Just think of it as a generic term.
You’re not a troll are you?
“Well, because I am a sexist pig and I don’t believe that women are humans anyway. What did you think?”

Because by all accounts God created Man and not ‘people’ or ‘Mankind’ for that matter.
God created man and woman, do not be so machuno, please, so as to invent creation the way it fits you..
Stop! You are both right. There are two discrete and contradictory accounts of Creation in Genesis. In one Man is created (woman comes from his rib later). In the other account man and woman are created simultaneously.
Imagine an Essene monk (or a Saker mod) having to decide which version to ‘trash’ and which one to keep. Both, after all, are allegedly from Jahweh.
Two competing sects gave their versions. One of them liked women and the other… not so much. Sounds familiar, proving once again that in human ‘progress’ nothing changes except the scenery and the costumes.
Funny that no one really knows about this. I guess no one reads the ‘Good Book’ anymore.
There are not ‘contradictory’. One is a general account of the Creation ‘in principio’. The other describes the actual mode of the creation of the first Man and Woman.
Dear Wiz, though my schooldays are far behind me, I do recall that several sects were competing in the compilation of the Pentateuch (Five Books) of which Genesis is the first.
One was Jahwist/Priestly (Conservative) another was Pharisaic/Essene (Liberal).
I may be mistaken in the details but not in the essence of my argument. I doubt that WIKI will give a sh-t about this and my textbooks are in boxes now.
In any event, the twos sects compromised and got both their accounts in, even though they are contradictory, redundant and confuse the issue. Linguistic forensics shows that the accounts have separate authors.
So, although the Church and rabbis, and some believers, may try to square the circle, it cannot be squared.
I believe that a close reading of the text by literary and unbiased readers will confirm what I say, even for the non-specialists.
Here is an intro, but the question of Bible authorship is far more complex than this analysis. It is also fraught with taboos.
http://www.leighb.com/genesis.htm
Dear Franz, we can’t force you to update your knowledge. It would require an effort that few people are willing to do, being so much easier to copy/paste third-hand comments of amateurish religious ‘scholars’. It is indeed a far more complex problem that more trained scholars than the ‘unbiased’ (i.e. ignorant) reader, work hard to clarify. Suffice to say, all hypothesis advanced so far for the redaction of the Pentateuch are reworked.
I assure you that my background, even though in boxes, is solid.
One proof of that is that while you pontificate and provide no evidence whatsoever,
I do.
What does a phrase like this even mean: “Suffice to say, all hypothesis advanced so far for the redaction of the Pentateuch are reworked.”
Hypotheses are made to be ‘reworked’ later. They are a ‘work in progress’. That is the nature of scientific inquiry. It is peculiar to see you, who show at least some pretense to knowledge, lamenting that fact.
I offered the comparison (chart form) between the two discrete, differently authored versions of creation in Genesis to help refute a very weak point you made, ‘ex cathedra’, about one version being ‘in principio’ and the other not.
You are mistaken. And the chart, were you to actually read it, if not Genesis itself, without prejudice, would have stopped you from substituting supercilious arrogance for knowledge. Or, trying to, and failing.
Please show something of value if you continue this conversation rather than the mere garb (I am tempted to say ‘garbage’) of knowledge. I suspect that your view is iron-clad and relate to one or another of the protestant or Hebrew/Zionist literalist cults which read without understanding on any but the fairy tale level
Franz, you should try to think outside the box.
I will, if you show signs of thinking at all.
The Genesis wasn’t written in English.
Good point. But it should be noted that even the English ‘Bible’ makes a distinction between “Man” (ἄνθρωπος, Ha’adam), male (ἄρσεν, ish), female (θῆλυ, ishshah).
The relevant passages are Genesis:
1, 27: “And God made MAN, according to the image of God he made him, male and female he made them” (translation of the Greek text: καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ Θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον, κατ᾿ εἰκόνα Θεοῦ ἐποίησεν αὐτόν, καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτούς.)
2, 7: “And God formed the MAN [of] dust of the earth, and breathed upon his face the breath of life, and the man became a living soul ( καὶ ἔπλασεν ὁ Θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον, χοῦν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἐνεφύσησεν εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ πνοὴν ζωῆς, καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ εἰς ψυχὴν ζῶσαν.
2, 22-23 “And God formed the rib which he took from Adam into a woman, and brought her to Adam. And Adam said, This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of her husband.”
A <machuna invented version to try to submit women and establish patriarchy all over the world so as to have “helpers” for free…I .do not believe a coma….I doubt that Jesus would had wanted to make any difference amongst us, be we men, women, whites, reds, blacks, well, whatever. Jesus was most probably a communist, and you know it, only does not fit you well, because you want to have “helpers” ( let´s call them so ) for freeWe have no proof whatsoever of that being “The Truth”, but versions written by men. Of course to all of you from 50 to 100 years seem you the best, but do not wash with people under that age. Just you have it clear!
@whatever
You mean the ‘LGBTQ’ and other cabrones? No me gusta.
Galatians 3:28
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
King James Version (KJV)
“You mean the ‘LGBTQ’ and other cabrones? No me gusta.”
No, I was not meaning that, look which enumeration “whatever” goes after to understand the context, do not try to distort what I was meaning, as you do with Qu´ran and Muslim religion every opportunity you find with the aim to discredit.
I was meaning what I was meaning, period.
Anyway, since you mention, they are also sons and daughters of God, I remember you.
I fear that Wiz is ready to perform any contortions required to avoid accepting that there are two accounts of Creation in the Bible and has, for reasons known only to his/her/its self, chosen the wrong one.
Cool!
if you reread: God came to the idea, that man neads a ‘helper’
when he saw, what kind of names Adam was giving to each being …
Adam called God and said he needed a helper to all this work, feeling a bit alone.
The helper should be intelligent, hard working, honest, faithful, loyal and always love only Adam.
God answered Ok but it will cost you one leg and one arm and one of your eyes and half of your brain.
Adam said he would think about it.
A couple of days later he phoned God: “What can I get for a rib”?
““What can I get for a rib”?
God: A beautiful doll.
Katherine
Not ‘by all accounts’ by any means — there are hundreds of creation myths from all over the world, as well as many other explanations and speculations about the origins of existence and life.
Not ‘by all accounts’ indeed. But perhaps not ‘by any means’ either.
I post this because my use of ‘with a vengeance’ was taken literally here a few days ago, only narrowly avoiding a contretemps with another forum member.
I sometimes think that there are as many ‘creation myths’ as there are humans who ever thought about where they came from.
In English, yes. Not necessarily in other languages. Removed. No attacking other commenters. Mod

HTH!
Katherine
‘man’ is a generic term, so who but a pee cee diehard cares,
Re origins: myths are a feature of human cultures, creation myths especially.
As Blue says, they are many and varied. Believe as you wish, in line with your cultural proclivities – it’s all good.
Facts however say the male DNA is effectively a mutation of the female – baby boys result from a genetic ‘switch’ that causes the development of testes: the female is actually the default human.
https://www.google.ie/amp/s/goodmanstrongman.wordpress.com/2013/05/01/when-women-mutate-you-get-men/amp/?client=ms-opera-mini-iphone
This us borne out by studies which show that all-female populations (like snails, from one example) will produce a percentage of hermaphroditism, allowing them to survive.
All male populations die out.
Respect gentlemen.
And hang into your ribs – the Great Designer gave them to you for a good reason. Along with the rest of your body parts.
We ladies don’t need them – we’ve been around for quite some time :-)
I appreciate your sarcasm, the comment seems written by a Hillary feminist.
‘Hillary feminist’??!!??
Lol!
Have to say that’s a first.
Glad you appreciated the sarcasm – it’s usually, as history shows -, silent.
But gotta pipe up now and again…;-)
Reading some Eduardo Galeano is a good cure for thinking that as Norte Americanos we are the only Americans. :)
Besides, reading some Galeano is always a good idea anyways.

The USA put America in its official name. None of the other Hemispheric nations use it.
Also, the USA is the dominant nation of the Hemisphere. It is entitled to refer to whatever it wants to call itself.
America is a brand name for the USA, historically and logically.
Too bad for all the other nations that consider it an affront. It isn’t. But if they take it that way, then that is their issue.
America was from Vespucci’s explorations in the USA (before it was a nation). It honors the spirit of exploration.
We gladly share it for the North and South and Central regions.
But as another name for the USA, it is perfectly logical and historically well-founded.
For the butt-sore, there are plentiful of ointments to soothe their pain.
I had never heard of Amerigo Vespucci before today. I of course knew about Christopher Columbus.
So far as I can gather Christopher Columbus was an Italian born in Genoa and Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence.
So why exactly are most Americans speaking English (with Spanish as a growing second).
And more to the point why aren’t they all speaking Russian??
Russia is only 55 miles from America.
I know it might be a bit cold at times – but that should make it even easier…
You just walk across the ice. Should be able to do it in a day if you walk quick. Even I could do it in a week.
What were you guys doing?
Don’t blame us English. We had nothing to do with it, so far as I can tell.
We are innocent.
So why the hell are most of you speaking English?
Tony
Perhaps we are speaking English because the Anglo-Zionist Empire is much more adept at colonization than the Italians.
Could it be because most ‘Americans’ are English who displaced the Spanish who “discovered” and settled America previously (the New Spain)? Not exactly innocent.
“the Spanish who “discovered” and settled America previously (the New Spain)?”
Actually the Americas were already settled, the Spaniards, along with the rest of the Europeans, were nomadic invaders.
Nomadic or not they settled nevertheless. The question was why ‘Americans’ speak English and not Italian or Spanish, with the deliberate anti-Russian slant with Sarah Palin flavor.

@The question was why ‘Americans’ speak English and not Italian or Spanish,
Spanish speakers settled Mexico and the Southwest, long before there was a United States. But Spanish was not the language of any of the original thirteen colonies that formed the states which in turn formed the federation known as the United States.
Actually I believe there was some question at one point as to whether German—widely spoken in the Middle Atlantic area—should become the official language of the United States, but I doubt that it ever really stood a chance. The four primary groups that colonized the thirteen colonies came from areas of England and the Borders, at different points in the history of Colonial North America (17th and early 18th centuries). See David Hackett Fischer, Albion’s Seed. Those original groups’ descendants became settlers who moved farther west, past the Appalachians, to Ohio, Michigan, the Oregon Trail, etc. See Colin Woodard, American Nations. A fascinating read.
It does seem that Spanish is the unacknowledged official second language of the USA.

That was WizOz’s point in using quote marks around “discovered.” However, it is also well established that the first European “discoverer” of America was Viking explorer Leif Eriksson. Here’s one available account, from The History Channel (sorry, quickest I could find):
> After crossing the Atlantic, the Vikings encountered a rocky, barren land in present-day Canada. Eriksson bestowed upon the land a name as boring as the surroundings—Helluland, Norwegian for “Stone Slab Land.” Researchers believe this location could possibly have been Baffin Island. The Norsemen then voyaged south to a timber-rich location they called Markland (Forestland), most likely in present-day Labrador, before finally setting up a base camp likely on the northern tip of the island of Newfoundland. The Vikings spent an entire winter there and benefitted from the milder weather compared to their homeland. They explored the surrounding region abounding with lush meadows, rivers teeming with salmon, and wild grapes so suitable for wine that Eriksson called the region Vinland (Wineland). <
This was around 1,000 AD, so the Newfies antedate the Conquistadors (yes, you Spanish aficionados, in Spanish it's conquistadores… but this is English).
Because it is the language most people understand to a degree and can relate to.
Du ville jo overhovedet ikke være i stand til at forstå nogetsomhelst på omtrent alle andre sprog vel??
And what language would that be???

“So why exactly are most Americans speaking English (with Spanish as a growing second).”most Americans speak Spanish, from Mexico in the North to Argentina in the south there are, as per July 2016 around 410 millions spanish speakers (Excluding spanish speakers in the USA) compared with a population of 330 million in the US of whom around 40 millions are spanish speaking…and Canada has only 35 million.

I have read that one of the intentions of previous generations of Estadounidenses was that it should be called The United State of The Americas.
The British put a stop to that early, hegemonic wet-dream in the North.
A greatly outnumbered force of British regulars in what is now Canada defeated a force of American Colonial ‘rebels’ and burned down the original White House to put a period to the event.

“America was from Vespucci’s explorations in the USA (before it was a nation). ”
Vespucci never touched what today is called USA, his voyages were around the Caribbean, Brazil Orinoco river, Hispaniola (Dominican Republic today),and some places in what today is Central America.
Yes, Galeano always, as a reference of common sense.
I would advice reading “Las venas abiertas de America Latina”, especially for all those who have taken part in or have never heard of “dead squads”….
Since we are reading over there that is Iran who always provoke “Americans” in the US, well, reading something more than “American Republican propaganda” will make no hurt.
Don’t worry, Saker. It’s okay to say “American”. I tell people I can’t be called a “United Statesian” because I could be confused as a Mexican since the proper name of Mexico is “Estados Unidos Mexicanos”. You wouldn’t want to insult a Mexican, would you?
Nice picture of the dilapidated house. That picture was not taken in Donbass, but in the USA. There are tens of thousands of such houses in American cities. Many such houses can easily be found in any small town located 20 miles from any interstate. You will never see these buildings when watching Hollywood TV shows and movies, because according to Hollywood, everyone in the USA is wealthy and happy. Why else would so many Russian women offer themselves up as mail order brides to escape to America. America is “paradise,” because the American 1% promote that meme to the rest of the world.
Saker wrote: “If in Britain only the old people could vote for the Brexit, in the USA all the Trump voters were described as poorly educated racists (“racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic” to quote Hillary).
Absolutely. The 1% are quick to dismiss the majority. The majority of Americans do understand that the American elites have a double-standard:

By the way, the Canadians need to be fluent in a language other than English if they hope to avoid being mistakenly labeled as Americans when they travel internationally. I prefer they speak German in addition to French. ;-)
Nice picture of the dilapidated house. That picture was not taken in Donbass,
Correct. I took that picture myself in Bunnell, Florida.
There are plenty such houses in Florida, by the way
this one was just so typical that I decided to use it as a symbol.
Cheers,
The Saker
I do not find anything wrong with the house ( in fact compared to my tiny apartment looks like a mansion ), but with the owner, who seems to suffer likely from Dyogenes Syndrome…
He has no more than to throw away all those papers and waste bags and make some cleaning…then try to do some work to transfom that mess into a garden and even could build a small pool…
But, is this really so typical as you say?
Because, if this is so, then this is a symptom of clear terminal neglect and despair….I wonder if what was promised by The Donald will be enough to revert such a mood…
Property taxes in the USA are slowly eliminating home ownership. Those on welfare and the working poor cannot afford to pay the property taxes on junk houses such as the one in Bunnell, FL. The poor cannot afford badly needed house repairs. The house then deteriorates.
Just before the county confiscates the property for the owners being tax delinquent, the owners strip out all of the fixtures and leave. In the cities, the abandoned houses becomes playhouses for roving gang members, who eventually set the the places on fire. This is why Detroit has so many vacant lots where houses once stood.
“But, is this really so typical as you say?”
IMO, yes, and in many states I believe, have personally witnessed this on my visits to the US.
“I wonder if what was promised by The Donald will be enough to revert such a mood…”
I don’t think so, not overnight, will take years which we do not have I’m afraid.

“But, is this really so typical as you say?”
Yes, because Americans like to hang on to junk.
You never know what might come in handy.
And many Americans really are handy and they like to tinker and to do it on their own premises,
and if the owner of the house can’t do something with that rattle-trap ancient pickup, it might have some worthwhile spare parts that a neighbor can use. A vagrant might even slip in there to sleep, or kids could hang out in the cab and pretend to drive.
Of course, all such front-yard “storage” is anathema in “gated communities,” where things are so “fine” that laundry hanging on the line is prohibited as a “flag of poverty.”

It’s in better shape than my house, which has old wooden strorm windows with glass falling out — too crippled up to fix them myself, or even afford the glass, and surely no money to hire someone. I’ve been living under the poverty level for over 15 years now (although I never had enough money), and completely disabled as far as work goes — not that it would help much if I wasn’t since there’s hardly any work around that pays enough anyway. I’m just another one of the ‘peasants’ now, fallen into one of those cracks — and yet much better off than many, some of who have no home and live on the streets (more and more of them).
RT has a documentary I saw the other day about homelessness
———-
https://www.rt.com/shows/documentary/355953-homeless-communities-us-yhomeless/
Facing possible foreclosure on his home, director Glen Dunzweiler decides to find out why people in the homeless communities of America ended up on the streets. Traveling through the cities and eliciting personal accounts from people of different races, genders and ages, he offers a platform to those in our society whose circumstances are quite often misunderstood, all while living out of his car in an attempt to learn what it’s like to be homeless himself.
Due to copyright restrictions, this video can only be viewed on RT’s live feed. Time of broadcast is available on RT’s schedule page

Things are getting positively Dickensian.
Blue, dear, every Christmas you break my heart apart!
I can never forget last New Year night when you were telling about your precarious situation, not being able to go out because nobody was taking out the snow from the floor at your door, since you were not able by your own because of your age and condition.
I guess you are totally alone, and so, I wonder if someone who could live near you could not give you a hand from time to time….That would be really great…
I’m doing very well, actually — nobody is dropping bombs on me, I don’t have to through 2-hour long checkpoints to go a couple of miles from my house. Etc.
I’m surviving, which is a hell of lot more than so many are doing. And I’m almost 70 so I don’t even have a pressing need to survive much longer anyway, and I’m just ‘passing through’ apparently, according to some metaphysical narratives, in a way that I can observe the world from a useful perspective. And it isn’t that important really, in comparison to everything else.
I can feed the ‘free cats’ and that’s good, but I learn from them. Cats have a wisdom, and even if well fed here they still go off and wander, and don’t worry about it. They take what comes and deal with it as they can, and are part of the natural world
That’s on an individual level. What we need, however is to work on systemic problems, and deal with all the people, and the kids, whose houses are being bombed and getting their bodies torn apart, and never get enough to eat. A little unshoveled snow is nothing compared to that. What is painful is the massive unawareness in the US, and I guess many other parts of the world, where there is no human compassion, and it’s all laid on individual people instead of the system and the culture, and capitalism with it’s greed and divisions, lack of empathy, being ground through ‘the machine’, and the insults — the psychic assaults.
So I’m a ‘deplorable’ — written off as an idiot, a child, and a bigot because I voted for Trump. The thing about being poor and disabled is all the liberals who think they are so superior, and know all the answers, and try to teach you, and blame you, and tell you what to do — even when they mean well, that can cut deeply if you let it — especially when they mean well. It’s like trying to force feed a hungry cat and then being surprised it scratches you.
I’m a hermit now, and I have come to prefer it because i don’t want to have to deal with the insanity that surrounds me. Maybe I learned that from the cats too. There are a lot of them who come around to eat and they appreciate the food, but then go off again and do their own cat things. I expect nothing from them, there are no strings attached, and they are under no obligation to offer anything back — even though they do sometimes become friends — but never owned. Very anti-capitalistic and anti-market of them! Yet they are also very social and may freely form very strong associations with people or other cats — and yet always free. Cats are not liberals, and their socialism is anarchic — no chiefs. Cats never look for someone to feel sorry for them — unless they are deliberately trying to get a handout, and when that transaction is completed, when they get some food, that’s the end of it. They expect all charity to them to be as the Buddha would do — true charity.
But Christianity — the American Christian culture — is different. When a Christian tries to give you something he want’s to increase his heaven score, and ‘be a better Christian’, and it flows over to even non-Christians who want to become ‘charitable’ — increase his virtue. One guy tried to give me $5 as i was coming out the bank after cashing a check — said I could buy cigarette or something, and was trying to do his Christian duty (I told him give to someone who needs it more). Someone else left a 20 dollar bill in my car along with a ‘get saved through Jesus’ pamphlet — and open the door to my car using the broken handle, which bent it even further, so it will be harder to repair. They make unwarranted assumptions. Over the years I’ve learned to distrust those who compliment me or try to be charitable — who want something from me, are trying to control me, or just want to feel better themselves, maybe boost their ego that they are ‘good people’. Not saying anyone here is like that, of course, but it’s become my policy not to engage in such things any more than necessary.
And then there are the ‘conservatives’ — the capitalists — who assume that everyone in need are grafters who try to get as much as they can and scam the system — because that’s what they do (and generally very effectively). And if they do give charity they brag about it — especially when trying to get elected, or doing ‘public relations’ — just a form of advertising.
Did you ever wonder about all those people who take the charitable ones up on the offer of a free meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas — what do they eat the rest of the year?
I’d prefer to be a cat — I’m still learning how.
Anon – I appreciate the empathy, it means a lot, but don’t feel bad — I’ve been surviving than most in the world, I suppose.
Kent — I appreciate the offer, but I’m getting by.
I brought up my situation not to beg or for sympathy, but to give my perspective on things, and show the holes in the culture and the country. Perhaps to speak a little for those who don’t have computers on the internet. This is a great advantage of being on the edge of the cliff — I can look over the edge and see and describe what it there.
I can understand the guy who is living in a relative’s house and walks around every day collecting scrap metal to sell because he can’t find any other work. I understand the woman with two little boys in the store who was searching her pocketbook to see if she had the money to buy the ice cream. I gave her $10 — I could afford it at the time, but I realized later it was actually only little part being charitable — the biggest part was that I was really pissed off that anyone should have to grapple with that, and kids couldn’t be certain of getting a lousy dish of ice cream because the culture refuses to take care of people — it was the anger which drove me most in that, and the relief that I could do something, at least, to fight against the machine. So it wasn’t really charity but blowing off steam and trying to gain some measure of control over the lunacy in the asylum. Maybe that’s why many of us deplorables voted for Trump — just as a blow against the machine — an angry scream in the wilderness. It may even be the growl and howl a cat makes before it attacks?
Well said, Blue. Most of the “self sufficiency” right wingers claim as their angelic viture involves paying somebody else a very minimal amount (the more minimal, the more the things laud their sorry, subhuman arses as superior manifstations of the human race – usually they attribute it to some white race nonsense or superior business “skills”) to do their work for them.
Blue wrote: “I can understand the guy who is living in a relative’s house and walks around every day collecting scrap metal to sell because he can’t find any other work.”
In my middle-class neighborhood in the USA, we rarely ever have trouble getting rid of old furniture. Just place it on the curb, and an hour later, it mysteriously disappears.
Blue wrote: “But Christianity — the American Christian culture — is different. When a Christian tries to give you something he want’s to increase his heaven score, and ‘be a better Christian’….
I cannot stand Evangelicals and other non-denominational “Christians” for that reason. Many of them also believe that if you are Eastern Orthodox/Roman Catholic/Lutheran, you are going to hell. Not great ways to win someone over to your cause……..
I wonder what the Russian elites are doing regarding compassion for their people. I was shocked to learn that most small towns in Siberia do not have indoor plumbing. Welcome to the year 1895!
From what I read it looks like Russia still has many problems with poverty, homelessness, gangsters, and such, and while they are working on it, these problems don’t vanish that quickly. They were in trouble when USSR collapsed, and the wealth disparity got worse when the oligarchs and Anglo capitalists took over. I think Putin et al. is not socialist enough, but also has to fight the system and problems he inherited, as well as the attacks from the West which have been ongoing for decades — and yet is making significant strides. Russia, however, seems to be going in the right direction while the US keeps getting worse, and the Russian people seem to be more humane and aware, and reality based, than Americans (from what I can read, and the few Russians I’ve known).
One of my old tag lines is ‘Your religious beliefs are about god and you, not god and me’. Many Americans have a hard time with that — or any of their ideologies or beliefs. Many Americans can’t seem to mind their own business or have respect for anyone different from themselves.
So I’m pretty much an atheistic ignostic, and I can’t imagine going door to door trying to convince people they should think like I do. People’s beliefs are their business as long as they mind their own business and don’t get pushy and don’t try to interfere with other people, or take over. I see the same sort of attitudes with politicians too, trying to get everyone to conform to their ideas, even to the point of destroying countries that don’t accept their ideology (with an underlying motive of controlling them and stealing their resources, of course). Yet, there are also many Americans who resist these attitudes, and is one of the themes Trump speaks on — genuine or not — which is part of the political evolution or revolution we see, even if inconsistent, and appealed to voters. It’s polite to offer food or shelter to a cat, but not to try to force feed it or confine it to a box or room.
We live in two fairly remote places during the course of the year.
Both have that wonderful Roman Invention – indoor plumbing, but both also have the much older outdoor toilet, out-house, bog or, in Quebec, ‘becosse’.
I prefer the indoor ‘convenience’ or WC.
My wife prefers the outdoor, conservative, traditional, modified hole-in-the-ground.
What is being discovered in First World rural settings is that the septic tank is highly prone to failure. The amounts of water needed to flush, when they meet the water table, travel in unpredictable ways, usually to the lake or river nearby.
There is a movement in rural regions to return to dry composting. The outhouse is, in essence, the perfect dry composter. Just add a bit of leaf mold or peat.
I would love to explore the close relationship of Roman indoor plumbing to the formation and growth of Imperialism. Perhaps in another life.
Is there a heater in the becosse?
Or does the natural composting action create enough heat for human comfort?
At a certain period of my teens my family rented an old parsonage in the summer while we rented out our house to summer people.
The parsonage had no indoor plumbing, just a pump in the kitchen and “the jaguar” (two-seater out back). One “seat” was small, for children.

Ouhouses are as cold as the outside air. But they work well. A hazard, however, is that if there isnt a tight lid then flies gather, and then giant spiders lurking just inside, eager to bite anything they come across! :-D
Frankly, living outside or halfway outside, tends to be a great nuisance, inconvenient, uncomfortable, and consumes a lot of time (especially when one gets old) — but it can be more reliable (if one is prepared and knowledgeable) than poorly engineered inside facilities, and should be at least available as backup if fixtures and appliances, or power supplies, fail. But you have cold, bugs, rain and wind, etc. to deal with. It’s good to be versatile and be able to deal with different situations — and also to be appreciative of luxuries such as hot and cold running water and electric lighting — things which in the past even the nobility lacked. Keep the gold leafed walls and give me a microwave oven!
A few years ago I read a book that was supposedly a fictionalized account of the adventures of an American Intell officer and spy in the last years of the Soviet Union – “A Train to Potevka” (Mike Ramsdell) I got the sense that in the small of villages of Russian and Siberia that without reliable central heating, indoor plumbing would be impossible to maintain against the freezing cold of the winters.
Central heating? Hmmm… Does my wood-stove, smack dab in the middle of my two storey rural ‘cottage’, which I load up with three logs and it burns for eight to ten hours keeping us warm, count as ‘central heating’? To my mind that is not only more reliable than urban heat, but also inexpensive
What I am trying to say is that romantic fictions, negative and positive, about rural life, are just that – fictions.
Consider too, that when the Talmudo-Satanists finally get their wish, WW3, that ‘reliable’, taken-for-granted infrastructure of the city will become the Gilded Cage… from Hell.

Thank you, Kent, for the offer — but so far I’m getting by and there are those who need it much more. Maybe it can be sent to one of those groups who bring food to the hungry in Donbas? Fort Russ has stories about them sometimes?
Or maybe in Yemen? Or Syria? There are so many in such dire and desperate straights.
I live in rural Wisconsin, and have lived all over America. I am almost 50. I have seen houses like this all my life, anywhere I have went in rural America.
But, they are certainly not common. With the exception of places like Detroit, they haven’t increased in proportion as far as I can tell during my lifetime.
Please dear divinity if you win me the lottery I will build hospitals for the poor! Honestly. I’m a good person, and wealth will really reveal that. I will also gamble accordingly with my friends and neighbors and wall street in the karmic quid pro quo!
On Trump and Clinton, they are both awful. I can’t forsee what Trump will do, but it’s more than likely it’s not going to be good. In NYC he was just another landlord what put his name on every gawd awful monstrosity, gawd only knows how awful is that racket. Circe in all Circe’s comments everywhere has convinced me not to vote for him!
The vote against the occupation of the USA and in some solidarity with the rest of the world is interesting, but so was voting for the first supposedly African American, or the first woman. Destruction, that seems the first order of business.
And I wonder how warm a two story house can be kept for 8 hours with only three logs, I guess ypur home is air tight. While, if everyone burned wood, guarnteed it would be as expensive as any other form of heating currently available, and there would be no trees left standing.
I also wonder why we give so much defference to religious texts, as to who was created first and such, it is possible to think these matters out for ourselves through experience living in the world, and for some to arrive at a rational understanding? But maybe the pope would lose her employment? But there are so many deluded by all manner of means, I mean we gripe about the msm non stop, so I guess the job looks like it might be a steady gig. Explaining what really it is god would have us all do, and what god did and all. Plus you’re guaranteed entry into the afterlife, where I guess not many of us get accepted there unless we’ve got credentials. Jesus, if I’ve got to memorize dogma I’m doomed.

I have been pilloried by my academic family and my leftist friends ( actually my religious friend voted for Trump because she feels this will help Jesus come sooner) OK. But some are beginning to “get” it. A Hillary maven friend of mine said about the DAPL protests, ” well, we all have to unite or the big corporations are just going to run all over us.” Major conceptual break through for her.
Ironically, the smarter people think they are or the ones society tells that they are ( my SAT score is higher than yours) smart are actually the ones most illogical and fixed in their thinking about society, politics and the world.
Yes, agreed, the actual fact that Trump is still exposing the con game ( he just attacked a Left wing of the Democratic party sell out Union leader who had called Trump a Liar). He has the platform and charisma to say “that-which-shall-not-be-named”. That is actually revolutionary at least in a cultural sense here in the USA.
Trump’s marketing to multiple classes of the electorate – all connected by a hatred of cronyism-infested government – is what won the election.
No doubt the bottom 2 quartiles played a dominant role – which is why he tailored his campaign to focus a lot on blue collar worker talking points – but he also infused white-collar, somewhat radical and fiercely proud topics not ever covered by any other candidate up to this point, especially significant when considering the heightened anti-trumpers in the streets.
I would praise those who were higher in the income distribution, had no economic worries under a Clinton dictatorship, but were able to over come MSM information warfare, find alternative news sources, and vote on theoretical considerations – in the face of outright social attacks from friends and loved ones. No doubt the relentless alt-news, which slayed the MSM and showed how naked they really are, deserves equal credit.

The critical so called “swing states” which Obama had won, went to Trump. Moreover, Hillary had gotten the plurality of votes by a significant margin, 2.5 million.
These states’ Secretaries of State and Voter Registrars engaged in massive voter purges, and closed voting polls in heavily Democratic districts. Investigative reporter Greg Palast, BBC, reported and document this illegal voter suppression.

I can honestly say that 2016 has been the most marvellous year of surprises in the political scene. First, Brexit, secondly, Trump (the most amazing thing ever) and lastly, Renzi.
How the people at the top cannot see their ivory towers crumbling, I have no idea. Yet they have no idea. In the EU, you can see the alliance is splitting and elections next year are only going to make that happen quicker, but what do the current crop of EU politicians do? Double down.
They are the architects of their own downfall and good riddance to them.
I only hope that someone somewhere has a solution for poor Greece! I don’t think they deserve the situation they are in. Evidently betrayed by all around them from what I’ve heard.
and lastly, Renzi.
Very interesting specualtion by Peter Koenig (unfortunately hastily/sloppily written, but the main points come through) available at ICH on the Renzi referendum.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/46005.htm
His main point: Renzi’s real reason for calling the ref was to resign, hasten parliamentary elections, be in a position to form a new govt., and sideline the Five Star movement in parliamentary elections. But Koenig speculates that the Renzi maneuver could backfire.

Saker, good article. I was, however, mildly disappointed that you didn’t give Putin his due – after all, he managed and directed the whole thing.
Perhaps you should stop reading the CraporCrap fake news put out by the Washington Post. Or rather, read today’s article in which the WaPo admits that the real ‘fake news’ was the story they themselves put out about the existence of ‘fake news’… other than their own. – fk mod
Victor, I am going to presume that your ‘he (Putin) managed and directed the whole thing’ line was satire/sarcasm -the giveaway, while not conclusive, being the preceding ‘after all’.
Much appreciated.
It will soon be revealed that an investigation was done and it wasn’t Putin who did it after all — but China. Putin was too busy to hack the US election — he is spending all his time hacking the German one.
(Yeah, sarcasm is hard to do any more.)
Even better, China precipitated the hacking through Putin, thus validating the old ‘Putin did it’ vilifier meme and augmenting the new ‘China was behind it’ vilifier meme.
It’s getting hard to keep up with this swirling vortex of vilifiers. Perhaps a weather forecast framework might help -heavy precipitation of vilifiers expected overnight tapering off towards late morning….
I am sure fk mod must have been swamped with post or he would have noticed your dry sarcasm.
Yea, still waiting for Putin to reward me my promised AK. :)
(Note: The sideways smile at the end is supposed to indicate some sarcasm or irony. Of course, if you really want to troll, don’t give any indication it’s supposed to be satire.)
Damn! It’s difficult to be sarcastic these days! Perhaps I should have put a little ‘/sarc’ at the end for the less discerning…. ;-)
I do like the one wit who asked how inept are Putin’s hackers, stealing the election for Trump but allowing Hillary to get more votes.
I’d have made all those involved at Standing Rock “Man of the Year.” I hope their example becomes the core of the real internal movement required to finally make the USA a great nation able to fulfill the primary aims of it’s basic law’s Preamble/Premise–an aim that has yet to come close to becoming reality.
The point may be that those at Standing Rock are the ‘deplorables’ too.
Given the very wide definition of Deplorables, I’d have to make those at Standing Rock a special subset within the Deplorables Universe.
Excellent ! Early experimentation with behaviourist principles attempted to manipulate prison populations by giving them cigarettes or by reducing privileges. They soon learnt that this works only so long as the subjects are not aware that they are being manipulated. Once aware, they will do anything to undermine the rules of the system, even if it requires suffering just to prove you are your own man.
“Once aware, they will do anything to undermine the rules of the system, even if it requires suffering just to prove you are your own man.”
Good point, which I believe to be universally true.

Interesting. At a point in my early childhood I was sent away to live with an aunt. She would let me snack on delicious cashew nuts, which I had never had before. She would ask me if I wanted to go home, and if I said No, she gave me a handful of cashew nuts. So then my little brother was sent to my aunt’s, too, and she asked him whether he wanted to go home, and he said, Yes! And I said Alvie, you have to say No if you want some cashew nuts.
Not quite Pavlovian . . .
Maybe more like the two rats leaning up against the wall of the cage with the lab technician hovering in the background. The smartass rat says to the other: Hey, I’ve got this guy well trained. Whenever I ring the bell he throws in some food!

I have seen the interview on “Going underground”

It has been a while now quite some american on internet has been calling to stop fighting with Russia, and start a war with China. I guess these people found a home in Trump admin.
So far, Trump guys are big oil and military people, the threw back from 70s. Well, it will really help US compete I am very sure of it!
In Spanish , besides the correct form ” estadoundinense “( not estadounidense ) , we also call the americans just yanquis , gringos , or usacos ( Polonia – polacos , USA – usacos , that´s to say usakians )
“Estaundinense” is not a word in any language.
Having taken 4th thru 7th grades in Spanish, with native Spanish speakers, I feel confident enough to assert that:
It’s Estado (State) -Unidiense (United-sian)
Estadounidiense
Except we in English tend to put the adjective first, they the adjective last.
So the qualifier or ending would more properly be on the noun, “States”, in English:
“Unitedstatesian” would be an excessively formally strict translation.
Instead we say “American”.
The “i” you’re adding to “diense” has no reason to exist. Just like we say floridense and not floridiense. Take it from a native.
ESTADOUNIDENSE, no I after D
Actually there is a Portuguese word estadunidense.
Probably in Spanish as well since Portuguese has a bigger vocabulary.
That is supposed to mean people from USA to make it different from americano.
Even if Pindos is very appropriate, I think an even better way to attack Pindo vileness and degeneracy would be the hijacking of the Pindos’ own dear jargon of self-worship. Backhanded compliments, as is well known, are a most refined, highly satisfactory way of expressing well-deserved contempt and ridicule. Actually, this gets even more hilarious when the Pindos (most likely) don’t “get the message” but instead feel flattered and emboldened to spout off even more deluded, arrogant Pindo hogwash. It’s like making fun out of a bunch of hardened alcoholics on a park bench by intentionally encouraging their assertiveness.
Hence, the ultimate solution (in my view) to the problem with “Americans” being used as a collective noun for US nationals would be referring — with 100% consistency — to the latter as “Indispensables” and “Exceptionals”. I mean, imagine hearing/reading gems like:
“Four Exceptional soldiers were killed today. The Indispensible president has called for more troops”
“A shooting spree claimed the lives of 20 Exceptionals at an Indispensable High School”
According to the Real Academia de la Lengua Española ( R.A.E. ) Dictionary, the word is “estadounidense”: it is said of original, pertaining or related to the USA.
http://dle.rae.es/?id=Gjw3x9j
great estadounidense, but in reality they are called gringos, almost no exception.
Not always underlying a negative meaning, only occasionally
In Texas we call people from Mexico “Mexicans”. It’s pronounced either “Meskins” or “goddamn Mexicans”.
Texans WERE Mexicans until we stole that land, fair and square. Read Lincoln’s “Spot Resolutions” opposing Polk’s insane arguments for war on Mexico. Then came “Remember the Maine,” Tonkin Gulf, 9/11, Weapons of Mass Destruction, “Assad Must Go.” A proud heritage indeed, you “Texans.”
Yankees. After reading every comment on this whole side-issue of what to call people from the USA, I settle for the original, aboriginal (Red Indian) name: Yanquis, the colonists who speak Inquis (the lingua franca of the modern Anglo-centric world).
That’s the kookiest version I’ve ever heard of the origin of the term “yankee,” “Dr.” Also, it’s no good for self-identification because that’s what Southerners call Northerners, so it carries bias. Fail.
The term ‘yankees’ originates from the north eastern part of america where most of the dutch immigrants were named ‘jan’ or ‘kees’, which are still very frequent first names in The Netherlands today.
Good one… I do have a bit more hope for Trump delivery of what or some of what he promised… look at who is in Russa today… and who was selected chosen for the Sec of Commerse post (under which the infamous Treasury Dept is) Both of them know Russia, have done business with Russia big time !) this shows Me ! that Trump is going to be a President like no other USA has seen and in a good way … why the ones you mention hated him so (still do) …
A Borodino moment?
Thank You Dear Saker,
“What happened in this election is nothing short of the biggest defeat in the history of propaganda.”
This fact on Nov 8 is what kept that smile on my face for days. Hailing as I do from the country which gave the world Rupert Murdock, this was the sweetest victory of all. Alternative governments have lived in fear of the Charles Foster Kane’s of this world for centuries, to be alive to see their power broken is quite the honour. Sites like this one too each drove a nail in the coffin of the MSM. This victory is yours, and ours for providing the vanguard movement to the Net for our news. So while I agree I feel a certain love for the Deplorables too, they are a fickle bunch and easily re-directed. I think backstage at the awards ceremony, we can all give ourselves a little pat on the back too.
“By voting against the Empire the American people have sent a powerful message to the rest of the world “not in my name”… I have always said that there the “other West”, the West of the regular people who do not support what their rulers do.”
You know there is another West, Dear Saker, because we are here posting on your site. During the Second Intifada I struggled with this question; were the Israeli public legitimate military targets? They all serve in the military, and as voters have supported the Occupation and ethnic cleansing of an indigenous people. Unfortunately I had begun to ask the same question of the American people, and by extension my own.
But as you say above, we live in the belly of the Beast; no people on Earth bear the weight of Anglo-Zionist propaganda more heavily than we do. In the end, every person on the planet would take that thirty pieces of silver to see your children grow up healthy and happy; what other decision can you make? This is why I have been praying (and I am an atheist) for the collapse of our economy and Empire. So we can go back to being human again. If the pebble which starts the avalanche broke off on Nov 8, then that date will live in infamy.
Michael Moore once wrote: “Dude, where is my country?”. We are not the Other West Dear Saker, we are the Real West. A great weight has been lifted off of us, and maybe, we are finally struggling to stand.
America was great when she was ‘a beacon on a (distant) hill’ and not a searchlight for a pirate fleet on a looting rampage around the world. Silly joke, I admit. It came to me in that state between sleep and wakefulness.
Still, I think that it will be some time until Americans would fully wake up.
Possibly the Trump victory is because maybe the American people are finally coming out of the beaten down funk they have been in since John Fitzgerald Kennedy was murdered.
That is so true!
The greatest thing that Trump could do for America or whatever you want to call it is rip the veil off that terrible state secret and reveal to USA citizens and teh world what really happened and who was really responsible for killing JFK. He wanted to end the Cold War and find a modus vivendi with Krushchev and Russia.
It would remove a huge burden from the collective psyche of the country.
Katherine
On “Americans,” The Saker has run into the same conundrum as I have, making peace with the inevitable noun/adjective which for my entire life I have considered an arrogant usurpation by the exceptionalist nation (granted, the original “exceptionalism” didn’t have the bloody hubris that the PNAC orcs have drenched it in). We South Americans are keenly aware that “estadounidenses” are not the only “Americans,” and have always prated about how pretentious they are for appropiating the whole continent’s name. Some Spanish speakers, including in the media, resort to “Norteamericanos” but there is an even more categorical fallacy in that Canadians and Mexicans are also North Americans, so calling Americans “North Americans” kind of bumps those other two countries right off the map of an actual physical continent (whereas “America” is actually more of a meme). Come to think of it, Mexico’s full name is Estados Unidos de México so if the argument against calling US people “Americans” holds water why call Mexicans that instead of “estadounidenses,” too? And then, how could you tell the Spanish-speaking estadounideses from the English-speaking ones (especially in border areas where neither language is spoken quite right)? Come to think further, as I heard a Trumpsian regurgitator regurgitate once (though in this case, as in others, they end up being right for magical reasons which they themselves don’t understand… nor I, for that matter), there’s no such continent as “America,” only a group of “Americas” namely North and South and, depending on your disambiguation standards in political geography, maybe Central America too—although I see that as a mere connecting thread or umbilical cord (a propos of which I couldn’t leave out, there is no real physical geographical reason for dividing Europe and Asia into two distinct “continents,” centuries of history notwithstanding, and indeed a growing trend referring to the whole continuous land mass as Eurasia seems to fly in the face of geopolitical constructs of yore, especially of the Halford Mackinder, Atlanticist variety). Therefore “Americans” are not stealing anybody’s rightful name when they call themselves so, because nobody else could use that name in a taxonomically exhaustive way (or at least any more so) and they’re not excluding anyone from calling themselves North, South or Central American as a purely geographical descriptor, inter alia. No other country really meets strict semantic standards to refer to themselves uniquely as “American” and all other labels for the country of Franklin, Hamilton and Lincoln are either egregiously ugly or woefully inadequate. I shall desist in the brutal flogging of this quite dead horse. As Mr. Lavrov says of Russia’s “Western partners,” let’s give Yooessians the benefit of the doubt and hope that they will live up some day to the beautiful name—Americans—they have given themselves as a metaphor for who they are—or could be— in their better moments, as an alternative to “basket of deplorables.” Otherwise we can always fall back, in Pepe Escobar’s colorful parlance, to “Pindostanis.” I, for one, shall always call them Gringos… and I mean that in the best possible way.
After posting assertively “Estadounidiense” above I wasn’t sure if it were that or your “Estadounidense”.
I checked with my wife, whose degree is in philology, major in Spanish and she says “diense” not dense. But you may be right and my wife and I both wrong. I would suspect that many in Latin America would use both! That is either, and not be that sure, because of the rampant errors of usage, unless both are actually correct, interchangeably. But I suspect yours is more correct because:
I wouldn’t parse this into such fine infinitesimals except that I would guess you have a law degree, and that’s what you get paid to do. I was admiring the fineness of your scalpel work, which is not the rough hewn “wordsmith” hammering phrases together, but rather more of the “word surgeon” precisely dissecting words, meanings, and cultural and legal implications.
Since I am a tall and large person, even by Norte Americano standards, I will sign off as “El Gringote” which does not mean “The Green Goat” but rather, “The Large Gringo”. or “El Grande Verde Vayate”.
Green Goat would be “Cabra Verde” (reversing the adjective noun order) although I always wondered why Mexican construction workers that I have been around a lot call themselves “Cabron”. I guess that means male goat, and rather than being an insult, horniness is admired in that peer group??
Which could be the reason that during his Lewinsky travails in the 1990s, Bill Clinton received near 100% support from Hispanics, both male and female, in Southern California, in my experience of talking with dozens of them.
Back to the topic: Post election I have discovered that many Afro-Americans and Hispanics that I know voted for Trump, although I wouldn’t doubt that a significant number of their votes were stolen for Hillary.
Funny, Bro. My handle is also El Gringo, the small-town nickname I received during my twenty years in Macondo. If you wish to marvel at another variation of this over-complex “gentilicio” (the Spanish name for words denoting national origin), my “cédula de extranjería” (a kind of foreign national registration card) during my childhood and youth in an undisclosed South American country (which you’ve probably already guessed), was “estaudinense.” DAS agents aren’t all that literate.
Upon further review of my pseudo-essay above, I think American is more acceptable than America, as there are no reasonable alternatives to the national-origin adjective, but United States is a perfectly normal name for the country, as attested to by the United States nameplate at the UN, US embassies, etc. So speaking of “America” (which always carries a connotation, even if unintentional, of the “exceptional,” “indispensable” nation) definitely wanders into Pindo territory, as another sarcastic commentator posted on this thread. I’m reminded of Walt Whitman, whom I see as an early odist of this ideology, drooling over the white sands of Cuba (I was going to say “waxing poetic,” but I find him rather prosaic) as one of the many glorious features of our God-given natural bounty. Still, give the Pindos a break. Maybe, just maybe (in spite of the insane, bloodthirsty Russophobe, anti-Iranian, Israel-firster rants of Pence, Flynn, Mattis and other hooligans joining the Trump administration that many Sakerfiles are enamoured with) Americans will save the day and become for once decent members of the world community.
The “basket of deplorables” voted against Hillary Clinton and for Donald Trump. Many of them surely would have voted even for Donald Duck just to vote against the establishment. You are right, Donald Trump is a promise, we are yet to see is he on the side of the ” deplorables “or the establishment.
It is important what is the meaning of “make America great again”.
R
We are on a road to ‘the mountain’ and before is a giant tiger, and a dragon, and a snake, and whatever other monsters. We do battle with the tiger and defeat it, and then there is the dragon ahead to battle, and then another tiger, and beyond the snake, and a giant spider….
So by defeating Clinton we have vanquished one monster, but others block the path — and maybe Trump is one of them, or maybe just a pothole or big puddle. Whatever — the road to the mountain is still before us…
Keep your swords sharp, questing knights
Good advice Blue Knight,
We have earned a night of feasting and wenching, and our chargers the chance to roam free in the top paddock. Tomorrow we will pick up the lance again and go riding off to tilt at all-too-real windmills. Until the new king is coronated, we have this sitzkreig period where we can hang our washing on the Maginot Line for a bit. The guns will come to life all too soon.
And hopefully, the guns will go silent in Aleppo way before that.
And about that election, it looks like the recount effort has been abandoned. Apparently all the lost, forgotten, sidetracked ballots that were being dredged up were mostly for Trump.
So, he might have won the “popular vote” as well. My own guess is that it was a landslide, something more like 60-40, and all the various voter suppression and other manipulation efforts simply failed to skew it far enough for Clinton to win.
I heard yesterday the reason for the recount is not to turn the election result directly, but to tie up the delegates from those States so they can’t vote in the upcoming Electoral College. This would only leave Hillary 15 votes shy, and maybe she thinks she can turn these and steal the election by stealth. As others have said, Jill Stein has exposed herself as another shill in Shillary’s coterie. If the contest were determined by the popular vote, the Deplorables in Cali and NY would have voted and it would have been an even bigger loss to the Wicked Witch of the West.
“So, he might have won the “popular vote” as well. My own guess is that it was a landslide, something more like 60-40, and all the various voter suppression and other manipulation efforts simply failed to skew it far enough for Clinton to win.”
I doubt it was a landslide, the more reliable polls showed a few % points in trumps favour, but it is clear the zionazi faction promoting clinton underestimated the amount of voter fraud necessary to achieve their desired result.
The popular vote is immaterial when the rules specify the electoral vote wins. If the rules specified the popular vote for the win then campaign strategies would be different. Campaigns are engineered to win by what the rules are, and trying to change the rules in the middle or after the election is cheating.
Saker
“With the Trump election, we know also see that the USA is run by a bizarre cocktail of minorities who only have one thing in common: their hatred of the majority.”
Minorities such as capitalist oligarchs, fascists, zionist Jews, organised criminals (gang bangers and mafia) and a few other categories of other exploitive oriented low life. Yup. But they have a few more things in common than only hatred of “the great unwashed”, whom they also see as cattle. The other common shared traits are extreme personal greed and a pathological lack of empathy or caring about how their sickness injures others.
These sorts have always run the usa, and the colonies before, with some notable exceptions.
Reminds me of Solzhenitsyn writing about his discovery while in the Gulag that the Bolsheviks had a high regard for street thugs and criminals as “victims” of the old society they were trying to destroy, and coming to realize it was in a large part because they were both of the same sociopathic temperament.
@Saker: “Furthermore, the psychological pressure was so intense that I ….. know people who even lied to their own family members.”
A not uncommon experience: the wall of political silence that can divide a family.

Deplorables. I really feel that when Hillary uttered that word, it sealed her loss of the presidency. She expressed the real thoughts and feelings of many of those who live “inside the Beltway.” The contempt they have for regular Americans.
I came to this site because of the huge gaps and omissions in the mainstream media. (and even the “lefty” media.) Take Ukraine. In the beginning, no one would explain who the guys were on the streets with the shaved heads and the funny symbols on their shirts, and why the hell is John McCain on a platform with them? How come Ukraine couldn’t just wait for the elections right around the corner? How come Pussy Riot gets so much cred, a “feminist punk band” with no talent whatsoever? What did Putin do to his own country that was so heinous? There were never any credible answers to many basic questions unless you searched for yourself.
Comparing the mainstream by day and reading The Saker at night opened my eyes; you got it right and they were dead wrong. Now it’s so bad they’re threatening censorship in the land of the free, home of the brave. American’s spoke, voted for Trump, so are now “Putin’s agents.” If that’s the case make room for me in the basket.
Trump is a product of the Jewish mafia. He grew up in their swamp and learned the shark trade from them.
Trump is also a true American patriot with a boyish heart and boyish self(over)esteem, who believes he can beat the Jews at their own game.
The Jewish mafia, one has to know, has earmarked Trump as a possible ‘Anti’ decades ago and has been pampering his narcissistic traits throughout his career accordingly. They plan to use Trump to their own ends.
Careful reading of the Kabbala and Cervantes’ ‘Don Quixote’ has persuaded the chief Rabbis that the American dream has run its course and that it is high time to ‘pull it’. Move out the good cops – lefties, liberals and snow flakes – and bring in the bad cops – Donald Trump and his motley crew of ex-generals, vulture capitalists and assorted deal makers.
The unholy mixture of Trump’s well intended policies and the Zionists clandestine derailing of all of what Trump will try to do, will build up, almost over night – we can feel it already – tremendous pressures, tensions and global confusion.
The world hasn’t seen anything like this since, some eighty years ago, the Zionists decided to let loose their most famous ‘Anti’ – boy scout Adolf Hitler.
Interesting times ahead.
Strange, I thought the ‘deplorables’ were out-voted by Hilary supporters by approximately 2+ million.
In a totally corrupt Empire like the USA, who knows what the real numbers are any more?
USAn is indeed ugly and virtually unpronounceable. Nevertheless, as a Canadian I find it important to distinguish myself, if only rhetorically, from my good neighbours to the south. To this end I consistently use the term “Usania” to refer to their territorial-political organization, and “Usanians” to refer to the citizens thereof. Both terms have a serpentine quality that may or may not be appropriate to the Land of the Eagle, and there is admittedly some risk of slippage, especially in the heat of argument, towards that unpleasant neologism “Insania”.
I like “Yooessian.” So modern…
Are you really sure that the swamp will be drained?
Or is it that only the shit in the surface has been cleaned? What about the deep of the swamp?
Is it not Trump too sensible to flattery to drain anything and there is a bunch of people who knows it?
What about the #RealDeplorables?

Thanks Saker for finally coming around, even tho it’s now long after the fact. I took a lot of flack from friends and family arguing long ago that reality dictated that doing anything but voting for Trump to therefor stop and vote Hillary out (and not weaseling out by abstaining or voting third party) was the only rational, in fact obligatory patriotic choice the American electorate had left, if they were opposed to a thermonuclear third world war happening, regime change in every country and US hegemony over the entire planet ,and minding it’s own dam business inside it’s own boarders and rebuilding it”s own crumbling infrastructure and providing decent jobs for it own citizens. But few so called leftist activists wanted to listen and took the easy way out, by either voting for Stein or sitting at home on their hands. And you all know whom I’m talking about. I’m now not only breathing a sigh of relief (having averted a nuclear war with Russia or China under Clinton’s warmongering policies) but also feel somewhat vindicated, (having put myself in the basket of irredeemable deplorable’s for so long,) by your article here, praising the brave resistance of ordinary (extraordinary) American people resisting being brain washed by both the right and left Main Street Media. As for the rest of you that didn’t take any action, shame on you all and I hope you’ve now learned a lesson from what ordinary (extraordinary) citizens can do to change the world. Now I don’t know if Trump will keep his promises or not, but if he just averts world war three he will have done the exact opposite to what Hillary promised us all and more then enough to satisfy me. All the rest of the US mess can be fixed at a later date as far as I’m concerned. Just mind your own dam business and keep the hell out of mine and I’ll be eternally happy up here in Canada north of your border EH!.. Ray
On further thought, maybe we can build a great wall between Canada and the US and make “you pay for it,” just to keep out all of your stupid liberal Hollywood celebrity actor jerks that threatened to immigrate up here en masse should Trump win. Deal with your own imperialist empire crap at home EH! We don’t want any part of it up here thanks …Ray
You may not be aware of the fact that Canada under Stepan ‘Bandera’ Harper was deeply involved in the coup d’etat in Kiev. Or that PM Hairdo has troops in Latvia helping to antagonist Russia into WW3 nor that yesterday Canada forwarded a motion at the UN to “Stop all hostilities in Syria”, especially in Aleppo, which means: save Kerry’s Terrorists to fight against the sovereign state of Syria another day.
Canada, since Harper, is deep-down a Fascist State with lots of violent Baird-era homosexuals allied with Banderist Ukrainians in power.
The days that Canadians can gloat about being morally superior to anyone are long gone.
Dear @ Franz:
Please spare me the lecture here as it sounds like you are either an arrogant uninformed American or a dry humorless know it all self loathing Canadian lefty that has no grasp of Canadian history or any real understanding of how imperial empires work in terms of cultural, political, economic and military control of their colonies, since you completely failed to appreciate my tong in cheek reference to building a “great wall” (read as in China) just to keep out the elite Hollywood propaganda tool hordes that have threatened to invade us up here should Trump win.
And God forbid the real Donald walk back on US globalist expansionism, makes peace with Russia, actually fights US sponsored world wide terrorism, kills the “Free Trade” deals and takes a traditionalist nationalist stance, bringing back home manufacturing industries and starts rebuilding their own third world crumbling infrastructure.
As for Canada’s sins, anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of geopolitics and how globalist imperialists empires operate, would know how Canada’s economic independence and sovereignty has been greatly undermined and usurped in recent years. Particularly since the sighing of the FTA and NAFTA (north American free trade agreements) deals made no thanks to our own traitorous US quisling Prime Minsters (and just as you correctly say) of which we have had a succession of over the last three decades, not excluding our latest Obama “Hopie Changie” inspired rat fraud golden wonder boy PM Justin Trudeau (whom is an affront to everything his Canadian nationalist father Elliot ever stood for).
That said, our recent traitor governments DO NOT represent the will of the Canadian people and our long history of resisting American expansionism imposed under the banner of “manifest destiny’ (to rule Mexico and all of the entire northern half of the American hemispheric continent up to the Attic). The fact that we have even survived this long and built our own free and independent country with a Universal health care system and not become merely another American state is a great achievement and something to be proud of, given the relentless machinations or the great monster just south of our border.
All those who are not self hating Canadians can also take pride in the fact that we are the only country in history to have invaded the US and nearly burnt down their white house, built a great nation and infrastructure (using or own independent non Rothschild Bank of Canada) with a railway spanning both oceans from east to west in the worlds second largest county. Designed and built the worlds fist supersonic jet fighter named the Avro Arrow (which the US empire promptly crushed) Continued trading with and selling wheat to Russia’s soviet Union and Cuba in defiance of an American embargo on them, refused to be pushed into invading Iraq, to name just a handful of our many accomplishments.
Suggest your read David Orchard’s book “The fight for Canada – Four centuries of resistance to American expansionism” before you go trashing Canada again. and I don’t know where you get that anyone is “gloating” here. But just to be sure, we have our work cut out for us here “draining the swamp” of our own corrupt politicians and their parties that are selling us out and marching in lock step as a colony with American foreign military adventures, by routing them out and putting them on trial for treason, and war crimes against all of humanity.
A task that would be made much easier if the US Hegemony would just back off and out of our face for a change and mind it’s own dam business for a while under a Trump regime.
But that’s far different than moralizing and quilting Canadians for their leaders treacherous misdeeds, as your trying to imply we do here. So if your actually a true Canadian, then get off of your high hoarse and behind and go out onto the streets and after our own politicians right here in the capital of Ottawa sitting in Canada’s parliament, instead of just sitting back and blaming their victims EH!..Ray
I see that you did not address a single one of my points but threw a can of whitewash instead.
So, at the risk of following suit, allow me a reply of sorts.
‘The will of the Canadian people’ was to elect ‘Fascism lite’ in the person of bastard dynast Justin Trudeau-Jagger.
How Canadian of you to want to shoot the messenger – me – while indulging in the following Great White North whine: “A task that would be made much easier if the US Hegemony would just back off and out of our face for a change and mind it’s own dam business for a while under a Trump regime.”
“If only”, If only the Winnipeg General Strike was not dissolved by good Canadian Soldiers back from the wars and good with machine-guns. If only the CIA and Canada did not nurture Ukro-Fascist terrorists in Alberta for use against Russia in The Ukraine. And if only they had not found their way into government under Stepan ‘Bandera’ Harper. So many ‘if onlys’…
And too bad Canadians can still kid themselves and think that democracy works. Just because they have 2.5 parties instead of the American 2. How is the hopey Changey thing with Prime Minister Hairdo working out?
Do not tell me. We both know the answer.
But I love the old Canuckistani memes. Does Molson’s still exist? You can try peddling the memes to them.
PS: It was not ‘Canada’ which fought back a US invasion and burnt down the White house of the day. It was Britain, aka England. Another ‘Canadian’ triumph which belongs to someone else. Strangely enough I feel we agree deep down on most of these things. Perhaps this is just a case of friendly fire.
My Dear Franz:
Lest I write you off as just another incorrigible lefty ideological fanatic, as a fellow Canadian I’ll give it one last kick at the can here (and for God’s sake not a can of Canadian Molson’s which while admittedly still a tad better than the watered down pop crap the Americans pretend is real beer, I personally have always preferred what comes out of the taps of small indigenous local breweries here) anyway I digress.
So exactly what points of yours did I fail to address? Oh, that Canada fully supports Ukie Nazi’s, that we have Canadian Wehrmacht troops on the the Eastern Russian front and are pushing to start world war three, and have just voted at the UN to coddle US terrorist. Let me add another one that you forgot to mention, which is that we just sold some 15 billion dollars worth of arms to the flogging head and hand chopping medieval kingdom of Saudi Arabia, all the better to help them commit genocide against Yemen’s women and children, just for starters…
So what is your point here anyway, that we up here in the True North of Canada, are all evil neo Nazis just because we don’t have a pure and flawless past and keep voting in leaders that turn out to be US quislings that totally betray us or what?
Now don’t get me going about our so called “democratic” elections (as you’ve already mentioned above). Fact is we don’t have any real dam choices to select from. And as a Canadian you ought well know that, (excepting for the delusional and completely brainwashed) the majority of us, don’t vote leaders in, but out. And in a three party system wherein a minority always rules we all loose. Not unlike Americans just had a “choice” (meaning no choice at all but to either go for a status quo corrupt Wall Street warmongering witch (I’ll skip the b for the sake of decency here) or take a chance on a wild card multi billionaire neanderthal, that’s it, and to their credit they voted Hillary out and him in. My point being as I originally said, we are all equally victims of the US empire and their puppet or quisling leaders and have little or no real choice in the matter, except to vote strategically and otherwise resist as best we can.
Now does that make the Canadian electorate (or American for that matter) all warmongering Neo Nazi fascist collaborators, just because they are consistently betrayed by their own leaders and a corrupt system of Government.
And for all of Canada’s failings do you want to trade in your Candian citizenship for an American one? Fact is that historically on the whole, our record of building a more humane and just society, in face of the relentless onslaught of American imperialism and attempts to take us over, and our US quisling Prime Ministers, we still far exceed what the American empire has to offer it’s citizens and the world. So just drop the notion that Canadians have anything comparable to our hapless American compatriot counterparts, to feel guilty and ashamed about. I would think not.
By the way, it was not the British forces, but Louis Riel and his Metis General Gabriel Dumont and a small band of brave Indians that out smarted and counter invaded and attacked the US would be annexationist, that long ago helped save all of Canada from US plans for entirely taking Canada over and from us becoming just another one of Americas northern states.
Now while I trust there’s lot’s that you and I may agree on, it’s not on the issue of denigrating Canada and it’s people whom have historically put up a heroic fight to keep us all from being annexed and totally swallowed up into the jaws of the American Empire. So just lay off blaming Canadians for their plight and try and appreciate the monumental fight we have lead to keep our own independence here EH! ..Ray
Dear Saker
I understand your skeptical view… but you ‘seem’ (I’m sure you are aware because you’re a Eastern Orthodox Christian) to ignore what the power of God can do in a person with a honest intellect and good will… I decided to see for my self some of Trump’s speeches (some how I start distrusting the MSM after it turned out Saddam had no WMD; I haven’t seen TV or newspapers anymore for more than 6 years by now… a total waste of precious time) and was genuinely joyful to see a would be politician actually talk what he thinks (even if you don’t agree) rather than randomly flatten an audience and than proceed with his hidden/’backstage party’ agenda. Another thing that struck me was that this man was actually interested in giving the US back to its deplorable citizens, not to liberate a obscure country in Asia, etc, etc… It has been DECADES without listening to this kind of stuff in a politician mouth!!!!
You know… I was struck by a kind of ‘sensus fidei’… that told me: this is it! – this is the man!
You”ll be amazed with the things God will achieve in giving back the US to Americans with this man. Even if he commit thousands of ‘blunders’, if he keeps his good will and honesty, no worries… besides, he has some ‘business’ genius, so not only ‘good wishes’. Only time will tell, but I don’t think he is going to be ‘co-opted’ or run away from the fight… God will sweep his way in front of him. No one or no nation mocks God and His given values and gets away with it indefinitely. The hour of reckoning for the xxxxxxx of this world arrived and they’re all doomed if they don’t change.
PS – Trump and almost everyone he ‘hired’ are staunch ‘pro-lifers’ in present day stance… this alone speaks volumes on how God will not refrain from protect them if they keep it like that. Helas… the Liberal, Globalist, Anglo-Zionist, what-so-everist are heading for their ‘Jericho Wall moment”… Feel really sorry for them; they’re going to vanish miserably under the carpet of History…
This is to the snowflake social justice warriors who (earlier) complained about “man” as a generic term for people.
Because of propaganda depictions, people assume that the first women in the U.S. who were determined to have independent lives and careers (1920s) were (as the feminoids have portrayed them in MSM) like the psy-op Suffragette agitators, (like their modern sisters) rejecting femininity and nursing some lifelong grudge against men. I know better. As a youth (I am nearing 70) I was privileged to know two of them. One was (as everyone called her) “Miss Ruth,” who had been a missionary in Palestine for 30+ years. She had the sweetest, most gentle temperament you could imagine unless the behavior of the Zionists in the intifada (which she had witnessed at first hand) was mentioned. Then she became fiery and denounced the Zionists (and their unwitting supporters) with a fierceness that would have been frightening in a man. (No one should mistake kindness for weakness !)
The other was my mother’s older sister, who had finished the coursework for a PhD in English Literature (but not her dissertation) at the University of Pennsylvania when the depression hit, obliging her to return home and become a high school teacher. (Don’t think this was the easy fraud it is today — the required course in Anglo-Saxon Literature was taught in Anglo-Saxon, and all papers were required to be written in it).
One day (at age 14 or so) I innocently asked her why “man” should be used instead of “men and women.” She snapped “Any damned fool knows that” at me by a sort of reflex action. It was the only time I ever saw her really angry. Then, realizing she had been unduly harsh, she explained: “The genius of English is its economy of means — you can say more in it using fewer words than in any other language. Padding it with extraneous verbiage is offensive to its guiding principle.”
And to the Hispanics aggrieved by the US’s co-option of the term “American” — Easy solution: pick some other term (in Spanish) and use that instead. Problem solved.
The real issue isn’t a misapplied term. It’s that ANY term that Christian White men used for others (Indian, Polak, Dago, Bohunk, Paddy, Sheeny, &c.) is “offensive” because it is the obligation of all good and decent people to hate “the cancer of history” and everything about him.
Or perhaps you’re female and I’m now guilty not only of crimethink but of “mansplaining”?
Actually Saker, I would say that the “man” of the year was the Alternative Media, with Wikileaks etc.
I am a proud ‘deplorable’, in that I loathe Hillary – though not an ‘irredeemable’ – a word which Satanists like Hillary do not know the meaning of.
Without us, there would be no Alternative Media.
Put another way, the Alternative Media is us.
Trump’s secret to victory, in a word: IMMIGRATION.
The American people have been suffering for decades under an onslaught of illegal aliens (principally from Mexico) exactly like what is going on in Europe right now with the “Muslim refugees”.
The elites turn a deaf ear to the pleas of the people demanding enforcement of the nation’s laws and defense of the borders. The elites live behind high walls in exclusive enclaves filled with beautiful people, completely shielded from the consequences of their policies, and have the gall to denounce the legitimate complaints of those people who aren’t so fortunate to live in their gilded tower as “racist, nativist, xenophobic”.
Trump picked up that issue and ran with it. It’s just that simple.
There wouldn’t be that many Muslim refugees if we – the West – hadn’t interfered in their native countries. The west had destroyed Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybia, … Do you expect the citizens of those nations to sit idle and wait until they’re blown into pieces by some explosives or to be slaughtered by radicals who pretend to do so in the name of their religion?
Concerning those illegal alien who’re a plague to so many US citizens – at least according to your own account: Didn’t Ross Perot warn of the negative aspects of NAFTA (hint: giant sucking sound)? Thanks to agricultural subsidies US farmers are able to undercut the prices of local Mexican farmers. As compensation for the job loss in the agriculture sector, Mexicans get rewarded by US companies moving their factories southwards. For a whopping $1.15 to $2.30 per hour (if the link doesn’t work do a search for “ford mexico plant wages”) Mexicans will replace laid-off US workers. US workers and Mexican farmers/workers are getting equally screwed (a classical lose-lose situation). Add to the whole situation the meddling of the US – war on drugs, toppling undesirable governments – in the internal affairs of many South American Countries / Central American Countries and you’ll get many desperate people looking for a way to escape their situation.
There’s a simple solution to all that migration and that solution isn’t building fences or shooting people at the borders. The solution is: stop meddling in the affairs of other countries.
It’s never “that simple” Anonymous at 6:54 pm UTC.
Anonymous at 11:22 pm UTC has many good points to expand your world view a few thousand miles beyond our borders and broaden your conceptions of more effective solutions to the “free room and boarders” that concern you and millions of other Deplorables (I count myself as one of them BTW) so very much.
Well that concern is as understandable as an amoeba’s reaction to noxious molecules in its immediate liquid environment, and is therefore “good” as far as that goes.
However, Homo Sapiens, even Homo Estadounidenses is capable of so very, very much greater consciousness than such defensive R-Complex instinctive reactions based on the survival mechanisms of a Reptile.
And I would add something to his or her concluding phrase ” stop meddling in the affairs of other countries”
Stop sodomizing them with perverse economic and social theories:

Bury the IMF and allow other nations to prosper. Our lawn crew may disappear and head home, south of the border, but we should wish them well if they do so, and get more exercise and fresh air ourselves.
Allow Mexico to develop. Build NAWAPA. Turn the Sonora Desert into an OASIS.
Prosecute Zbigniew Brezinski for crimes against humanity for declaring back in the 1970’s that “We will NOT permit a Japan south of our borders.”
So Japan’s 1970’s planned investments in industrial development, ports, energy, transportation in Mexico were headed off and the suckers in Tokyo got into US office tower investments near the top and rode them all the way down, by the end of the 1980s to the mid 1990s. That’s what they, you, and anybody else gets for listening to our “Elites” of a Garbage Can.
Precisely. Hillary Clinton, for no good reason at all purely to pad her CV, toppled Khadaffi and plunged North Africa into chaos. For decades Khadaffi’s government had intercepted economic migrants and kept them out of Europe; Khadaffi called his regime “Europe’s Coast Guard”.
No sane person wanted that corrupt, trigger-happy moron Hillary Clinton to be president. She would have started a war out of her own stupidity.
Thank you for article. Nice piece. Thank you for the addendum, as a Latin American I am grateful for your acknowledgement of the issue and your explanation.
The Saker got it last year – but this year the competition is really close ..but in my view..there is only one man who came close to This Year’s Number One..
Well it is hard to choose between them to be honest
Linh Dinh & Thierry Meyssan
Pepe’ Escobar in Third Place
Well done guys..Paul Craig Roberts is impressed.

I hope some clever person gifted with journalistic discipline takes the time to document this new American president’s administration. The “Trump Chronicles”, a four year record of factual information devoid of personal bias or partisan flavor.
A weekly report presented to the American people of the various actions taken by the president, the reason(s) why, the goal, the financial or political cost verses the perceived benefit and to whom, how it is measured, changes to it and whether it succeeds or fails.
The Trump Chronicles will be an important benchmark for the nation. It will be one way to gauge the competency of the U.S. president’s cabinet, the bureaucracy of the executive branch and whether this leader stands for truth or relies on deceit and incrimination. America must restore itself back to being the land of opportunity and demonstrate a cooperative spirit in furtherance of international trade and commerce with other sovereignties. The future of our country is in the hands of a few and the citizenry must keep a watchful eye on what they do. Freedom is never free and treachery always lurks under the spectrum of a multi-colored cloak that wraps itself around patriotic ardor to disguise an agenda of jingoism.
In this age of instant communication, the masses are brought closer together and the filters of pseudo-wisdom from the corporate owned media can no longer cast its nefarious shadow over the growing segment of the population who can reason beyond group-think. We must ask questions and be alert to hidden agendas that speak with falsity and sublime superficiality to promote a hidden cui bono.
Let us not relent on our duty to each other and to posterity. Our guard must be ongoing and the hand of skepticism firmly grasps the lanyard to ring the alarm bell when wicked men serve up a brew of avarice to tempt mankind to drink it.

People who get hung up on the fact you said Americans, either spend way too much time worrying about insignificant trivialities or are purposely trying to derail the conversation. Neither are worth your time.
Oh that poor white american working class, they are so oppressed! You know (Removed MOD) those third world workers that make possible their consumerism.
My take on this situation is that western governments rule by reading and analyzing poll data. Polls in turn assume that the people they survey will speak their minds. However, no one in the west has spoke their minds since 9-11. The western population today expresses what is politically correct in public and only grumbles aloud in the privacy of their own homes. The failure of the Clinton team was the inability to see America devolve into a two faced society.
What if this isn’t the greatest defeat in history of propaganda but just the opposite? What if this is the greatest spin-off or whatever we can call that, in history of propaganda – to disguise a member of the elite as an anti-establishment candidate and sell that story to the masses exploiting their simmering hatred for the corrupt government. And then continue to discredit him, expecting, of course, that he will become the greatest disappointment (as planned) and possibly even bigger threat to the “world peace” than its predcessor. After that, media will have every reason to say to the public:”Do you see what he has done!? Do You understand now that there is no alternative for the good old system and it’s policies?”. Such outcome would then effectively kill every anti-establishment movement anywhere in the Western world. And “they” would get to rule undisputedly for “another 50 years”.
They’ve already done that . . . Obama. Eight years ago.
I am a disappointed deplorable, although I never expected much from my vote, it was mostly anti-Hillary.
The appointment of John Bolton as deputy Secretary of State is troubling, because he is a sanguine hawk and Russia hater, at least he is nowhere near the nuclear button.
His nomination is a big setback for the multipolar world.
Saker,
Isn’t this a seeming victory for the Anglos over the Zionsts in the AngloZionist empire known as America? Didn’t these same Anglos win in signing a treaty with Iran. If so aren’t we seemingly turning away from Israel and world domination? Things seem to be looking up
I think a substantial number of voters chose Trump in response to the media overplaying their hand with their incessant anti-Trump pro-Clinton “reporting.” Their witless incompetence and overconfidence was their own undoing. Contrary to Clinton’s view, deplorables actually have a brain and it did not require much thought to see that the media were taking a side rather than being objective. At some point one had to start eye-rolling at whatever they said. The week prior to the election I traveled through Ohio, Pennsylvania and upstate New York and noticed dozens of Trump campaign signs in yards and only two Clinton signs which both said “Clinton for Prison.” That is all the polling necessary to determine the mindset of the basket of deplorables.
Saker,
most analyses of the occupation of the UK/USA sound odd because they don’t mention the wide gap in intellect that is a precondition of occupying and being occupied.
It’s the same law by which the USA declared war to the Spanish Empire, that is, they robbed Spain of their conquered lands.
I am sure the joy and hubris of most real-American big shots in destroying and humiliating Germans and Japanese, as the two peoples they saw as their rivals for world domination isn’t lost on you.
Am I, are we, to feel sympathy if these people, due to their basic simple-mindedness (a trait neither the Germans nor the Japanese, or for that matter the Russian share with them), have ended up subjected?
And, well, I didn’t mention the attitude of the North towards the South, and the madness of that massacre.
You put the Anglosaxon in a too-good light they undeserve.
Do unto the others like you would be done by.
They enjoyed destroying Germany and Japan thinking they would rule the world.
Today they are reduced to obeying and harming themselves when obedience requires so (think of the costs of the War on Terror).
History has an ironical way to do justice: by other, reverse injustice.
