Marandi appears on China’s CCTV 9 quite often. He’s very modulated in tone, but speaks in strict alignment with the government. He never deviates, so you can assume his words are the government’s position.
For all the talk-of-the-day intrigue of Iranian gas deals going to EU, oil production driving Russia to bankruptcy, Iran openly endorsing US ME policy and the ton of crap written all over the Media, Internet and skywritings of the last few days, it appears that Iran has outlasted the US on sanctions, will pursue whatever the hell it wants in the future and the US and Israel will try to screw over the Iranians as if this ten year interlude was a day dream.
The key thing about snapback sanctions is the US will try to hegemonically reinstall them at some point and insist the world do as it says.
I think China and Russia will tell the US to pound sand.
Iran is out of the cage. It will have a year or so to make deals for its own development and to acquire weapons from Russia and China that it wants.
Its gas will go to Pakistan. Its oil will go to China.
Not much intrigue left.
It must save Assad. It must clear out ISIS from Iraq. Maybe it can help in Yemen. (That cause does not look good lately.)
Most importantly, Iran has an opportunity to show the world a full image of the Shia dominated society and perhaps, whatever is left of the Persian civilization (non-Islamic but rich Iranian culture).
Joining Eurasia, finding solutions to Afghan problems, assisting Russia and China to control narco-trafficking and cross border terror, are now important markers for Iran to put down.
The best thing the Iranians can do is join Russia and China in the Iraq-Syria theatre of war to completely destroy ISIS-AQ swiftly and completely. That will go a long way to changing American public opinion toward Iran.
Red, I think you miss the important fact that this agreement opens up Iran to Western financial and industrial penetration, There were strong Iranian business interests driving their side of this bargain and they are Capitalists who main interest is to join the West in business. Their power and influence will only grow with the lifting of sanctions and their mercantile priorities should have a moderating effect on the hardliners some of whom are already part of the Business Class.
“this agreement opens up Iran to Western financial and industrial penetration, There were strong Iranian business interests driving their side of this bargain and they are Capitalists who main interest is to join the West in business [..]”
Good comment. And there you go, the missing piece on this – to put it mildly – puzzling “deal.”
I figured as much when I heard this morning from Thom Hartmann [The host from RT’s show: The Big Picture] when he was debating this subject with two recalcitrant conservatives guests and a liberal (the host himself being the other liberal). At one point he argued that it was better to have good relations with Iran [and I’m paraphrasing, badly] because that would open them up to American businesses, American ‘values,’ and American news media… finishing his point, he said [to the conservatives, mainly]; and that’s a good thing, is it not?
Little piece of filth these yank liberals are! Their goals are as imperialistic orientated as those of their blood-thirsty, frothing at the mouth, neo-con cousins. They just prefer the ‘more gentle approach’ in their pillaging. But it’s an approach that is just as insidious and devastatingly destructive as the economic take-over method employed by the likes of the IMF & Co.
Mind you; I’m pretty sure these liberals won’t object to bombing the shit out of some helpless country [if they resist too much to their so-called ‘soft-approach‘], provided they can sell it as a humanitarian intervention of sorts to their fellow zombie ‘liberals.’
They’re just vile creatures wearing a mask of compassion, a mask that can come off at any time they deem their BS is not being bought by the side they’re trying to swindle.
Excellent commentary, thank you. It will take time for Iranian gas to pipe into EU, I see commentary that Russia is not concerned, the synergies for all concerned with the sanctions lifted are hugely powerful – everything was worth conceding, in order to get the sanctions gone. Now Iran and its major-power partners can really roll. I look forward to the mark that Persia will make on this world in the years to come.
Pepe Escobar yesterday at Sputnik had a greatly cheering overview of Iran as a global crossroads, speaking of Southwest Asia as what we in the west have called the Middle East. He gives a very satisfying outline of Iran’s future, as a major scientific, economic and strategic nation. He explains EU’s dilemma now, whether to support Qatar or Iran. He also deals with Syria, ISIS, and the regional shifts created by all this: Persia’s approaching gold rush
The Jewish Fifth Column in the USA has gone ape-shit, primarily because they were looking forward to millions of mitzvot for their psychopathic ego-projection in the sky, Yahweh, when Iran was ‘Shocked and Awed’. The miserable pickings from the sanctions treacherously applied to medicines, when they had been ‘promised’ to be spared (by the ‘aristocrats of humanity’, one of their numerous narcissistic self-descriptions, at the top of the US Treasury)and any other deaths caused by the sanctions just aren’t enough for that blood-thirsty ‘deity’. The next psychopath in the White House will follow orders, and the little children will die, just like in the Book of Joshua.

One of the most beautiful and original things I have ever witnessed occurred when I was attending a west African dance festival.
An Iranian man standing beside me who was also watching the Ghanian dancers became so moved by the music and dance that he jumped forward onto the stage and performed an impromptu Persian dance that made the crowd of Africans roar with delight.
It supposed to be like that, All of the nations around the world should cherish and share their own heritage with another nations. This is the beauty what we will se pretty soon even the psychopaths like it or not
So it essentially breaks down to whether the USA (or rather their Israeli master) can be trusted to act honestly. Given the past, such trust isn’t warranted.
If i understood correctly this deal, then the bottom line is UN Security Council. So a veto can block any rollback sanctions legally. That of course will not stop Empire-only sanctions. But others participating in restructuring world society along multipolarity will not be legally bound to respect any such act.
That will further weaken the Empire using UN structure that still stands (although marginalized),give space for maneuvering and further exposing Empire’s international law bashing.
As for business assets they can go, and probably will,BRICS the moment they are released. Doing this Iran can further isolate themselves from Empire’s influence. Good thing they show willingness and have already taken steps to have closer ties with Russia and China through new multipolar organizations.
There is a saying in Serbia saying: “dogs bark (but) the trains pass”. Empire just lost a tooth or two,so if they decide to bite their bite will be that less strong. And even their barking is less intimidating now.
Paper tiger is continuing to lose its strength, perceived and real. Great victory for Iran in every respect.
There is only question what will Empire do to save face? If the answer is more weapons to Israel and ISIS then that is not the worse case scenario. Efficiency of those using these weapons are greatly influenced by morale as we have seen in Novorossia. And Empire and those serving it just suffered a serious blow on that front.
Yes, the Republicans probably would like to use the ‘snap-back’. I really love Sorayra. What a beautiful and dignified and super intelligent woman. I would like to see more of her videos … we have seen a couple here…but maybe we could have regular videos of her and Hassan NasrAllah.
ah, so I finally figured out what’s going on in Yemen…the reason the Saudis are bombing Yemen is that Yemen is a part of the group of countries that defy US Foreign Policy regarding primarily, Israel.. Its not about ancient fights between Yemen and Saudi Arabia…its about Yemen not towing the party (read Israel) line.
Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s highest authority, has declared that the nuclear deal was a separate issue and that Iran’s relations with the ‘arrogant’ US Govt WILL NOT change.
Once bitten twice shy…Iran will never ever again fall into the trap of getting too cosy with the west, only to leave itself vulnerable to economic sabotage. On the contrary, Iran will work its butt off to make the emerging Eurasian economic integration with China and Russia an irreversible success.
Indirectly seeking Iran’s contribution on the ISIS problem?
