In my previous post, I mentioned that western leaders are going through a clear phase of self-delusion and panic. I want to add a short comment about the self-delusion part.
I am amazed, absolutely amazed, at the fact that EU politicians, and the MSM which serves them, are still seriously discussing the adoption of even more sanctions against Russia when it is absolutely, totally and undeniably obvious that:
a) there is no proof of a Russian intervention, nevermind invasion, of the Ukraine.
b) that there is exactly zero chance that EU sanction will even marginally impact the Kremlin’s decision making.
c) that the EU simply cannot afford the inevitable counter-sanctions which Russia will retaliate with.
It is generally accepted that “politics is the art of the possible” and yet the EU leaders are clearly engaged in the art of the absolutely impossible. The fact that they are all pretending like this is going to have some useful impact is truly a sign of how much the EU leadership has degenerated over the years. Can you imagine Helmut Schmidt, Charles de Gaulle, Margaret Thatcher, François Mitterrand or Francisco Franco engaging in that kind of infantile nonsense? All these leaders had their bad aspects, but at least none of them were clowns, whereas when I look at the current EU leadership, especially Van Rumpey, Adners Fogh Rasmussen or José Manuel Barroso I get the feeling that I am looking at some ugly kindergarten of intellectually challenged clowns and, frankly, I can understand Mrs Nuland’s feelings.
Truly the EU has degenerated to a point of no return. Hollande can play Mitterrand, but he is no better at that than Quayle was at playing Kennedy. Why in the world the folks in east-central Europe would want to join such a terminally pathetic community is truly beyond me.
I often wonder – has everybody just gone blind?
Why doesn’t everybody see that which is so obvious?
Don’t they realize that the men in the Kremlin are real, tough and principled men who will only feel disgust and amusement when challenged by such non-entities whom the Mayor of London so aptly referred to as the “great supine protoplasmic invertebrate jellies“.
There is a saying in Russian: “to try to scare a hedgehog with a naked butt“. This is what the EU is doing now. They are trying to scare Russia with sanctions which will painfully end up hurting the EU.
There is another saying in Russian:”to love the courageous/brave man in the Tatar“. It means that you can love/admire courage/bravery even in your mortal enemy. To the Russian people the *culture of empty threats* coming out of the EU is simply not worthy of respect. And the fact that the one cause the Europeans love to get most vocal and indignant about is the one “gay” “rights” most certainly does not help.
In the past, the western enemies of Russia – the Papacy, the Masons, the Empires and even the Nazis – all were formidable in their own way. Maybe the Russians did not fear them, but they often sincerely admired them (the French) or, at least, admired their courage (the Germans). These were worthy enemies.
But now Russia looks at the EU with a total sense of disgust and I would even argue that the Russians have far more respect for the USA than for the EU. For example, Russian commentators often make the point that the western sanctions against Russian only hurt Europe, not the USA. And while they like to make fun of individual US politicians, they also admit that the US has superbly manipulated the EU and the Ukrainian elites. And NATO can now threaten to create a rapid deployment force of 10’000 men, but you can be sure that the priority of the GRU will be to keep an eye on US forces, not on the EU clowns in combat fatigues.
I have left Europe 12 years ago so I really don’t know, but I often wonder: do the Europeans realize how utterly pathetic their leaders are? Do they see that they are lead by non-entities, “office plankton in suits”, pathetic intellectually challenged clowns?
On another note, I often speak of the Ukie “freaks”. But there is one guy which I personally find very likable on a personal, human level. I might shock you, but regardless of his crazy ideas, as a person Dmitri Iarosh seems to be a very nice guy. I have recently watched an hour long interview of him (here, but it is in Ukrainian) and I could not help finding him very likable. He has a very charming and a little bit shy smile and he is not pretentious at all. He does not even seem to be hateful in the way that, say, Tymoshenko or Poroshenko are. I certainly would welcome the opportunity to talk to him, even if after our conversation I end up slitting his throat. But when I see Van Rumpey or Rasmussen I think of yet another Russian expression: “this face begs for a brick“. To them I have nothing to say at all.
Anyway, I just felt like sharing these most subjective musings with you.
Good night and have a wonderful Sunday!
The Saker
While the direction that the invertebrates occupying the seats power in the trans-Europe/NATO bodies are driving (under dictation, of course) is a matter for deep frustration, despair and anger for the people of Europe and beyond, we should never for a moment amidst our hearty derision of the likes of Fogh allow ourselves to lose sight of the true enemies of Europe, of Russia, of the “Lisbon to Vladivostok” dream, of Nams and Scos and Brics and multipolarists everywhere, of freedom-seeking peoples throughout the world… viz., the Ones sitting in their gleaming hill fortresses in the Far West, conjuring the realisation of their manifest destiny. Twain writes, US national identity is inextricable from US imperialism.
On a more trivial note (nazi leaders), one shouldn’t underestimate the power of the bud-nipping signal sent by way of the peremptory removal of Muzychko. That wasn’t some sort of obscure sordid internecine mafiosa affair but a very sharp message sent, through their agents, from on high by the AZ elite, that said Just be certain who’s running this show, and it isn’t you, for all the bravado and jackboots of the Sturmtruppen at your command…
Europe will postponed the new sanctions until next week.
7 days to evaluate the impact of these sanctions in their economy. Yes, there is a wind of panic on the infantile Europe leaders…
Sanctions will only make Russia stronger. Russians will simply eliminate all points of vulnerability one by one, some short-term disruptions notwithstanding.
They’ll develop alternative payment systems, alternative SWIFT, alternative everything.
If Russians tighten up their capital account flows, they’ll have an astonishing amount of money sloshing within their own banking system, thus eliminating any need for loans from the West.
As I said before, Russia may very well be the only country in the world that is completely “unsanctionable”. It has all the natural resourses and more than sufficient brainpower to build a very prosperous country in splendid isolation if need be.
Europe, however, will certainly bite the dust if it keeps severing its own vital arteries.
And that’s ok, Europeans are dying out anyway.
How much longer will we be able to have the internet before the rebarbative powers take it away.
Cheers

Oh yes, we proud Europeans are ashamed of our leaders who for Gods sake were not elected by us, but apppointed by the forces in the dark, like Bilderberg.
We do not want to indentify with these ‘gay rights religion’ worshipping dictatorial sissies who constantly betray their people.
The EU politicos true colors were shown when Evo Morales flight was intercepted. They lack backbone. They pay lip service to their masters (Sikorsky) and are held in contempt by them (Nuland’s f-ck the europeans!). They will bring down the Euro and freeze their asses this winter instead of resigning in mass, which they should do as they do not represent the interests of their constituencies. Yes, the NSA has the goods on them all. Some, perhaps many are pedophiles and so they are terrified of what Murdoch’s minions and/or Rothschilds’ lackeys can do to them. If bribing with some career end jobs like that of Rasmussen doesn’t work then they might get an offer that can’t be refused. Galloway was just given a broken jaw message and a not so subtle ultimatum.
Most of the Europeans are zombified, stupefied by their Media, History, and prevalent deism and agnosticism.
Saker, you ask:
“Why in the world the folks in east-central Europe would want to join such a terminally pathetic community is truly beyond me.
I often wonder – has everybody just gone blind?
Why doesn’t everybody see that which is so obvious?”
Actually, some people see it. Some, meaning a population minority in any European nation. Is this minority a significant one? Hard to tell. Although, it can be assumed that it is quite comparable to a percentage of conscious people in US. Same old stuff is going on for ages: propaganda machine is well and rolling, taking a good care of the herd of sheeple all around the world.
So, why are you asking all these rethoric questions? Do you really think that situation in US is any better? :)
“Freedom & democracy” are nothing more than a facade, behind which all heinousness is hidden. “Voters’ choice” is no more than an illusion of free will of herded sheeple. So, what is the outcome you expect under such circumstances?
I’ve no idea if it is known to everybody that EU was created by CIA? Ambrose Evans-Pritchard wrote a small piece about it for “The Telegraph” nearly 14 years ago.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/1356047/Euro-federalists-financed-by-US-spy-chiefs.html
So, nobody should be surprised that there are no European leaders any more, and only clowns are being picked for the positions of power, either on a national level or in the upper echelons of the EU.
Therefore, I kindly ask you to read carefully the post written by my fellow countryman “burack” (http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-eus-ugly-kindergarten-of.html?showComment=1409465290174#c5589236321837730994), with only one objection I have. All he had written about does not apply only to Polish moronic politicians. It applies to all of the European federalist “leaders”.
Kind regards from Poland —

Thank you very much.
What concerns me is that even among more awakened people on this blog there are many that think that the european leaders are idiots etc.
Everything is going to plan: soon in Wales they will decide to spend more on military to protect the countries bordering russia and in 3-6 months they will have convinced the european and american sheeple that a limited nuclear war with Russia will bring peace and stability.
It is well documented that most politicians are manipulated because of their sexual perversions ( MI 5/6), they will follow orders. WW 3 is the objective

Sam,
OMG. You have absolutely nailed it! Yes, that is exactly what is going on: instead of Bernays/Goebbels/etc. brainwashing the public but making fact-based decisions, we’ve now got brainwashed pols believing their own lies and a public increasingly aware of the truth. Except in the US, of course, where the public is pretty much divided into two almost-equally-brainwashed camps neither of which could find their way out of a paper bag.
American Russophile,
Oh, fergawdsakes.
Facts are facts, and politics is politics. Both parties are doing whatever they can; they always do. Bc of Ferguson the Dems might say words blacks would like to hear but the odds are close to zero that any real progress will be made on the *very real barriers* they still face — including equal protection under the law. Meanwhile, the biggest whiners and most outrageously counterfactual claims of victimization are coming from white, male Republicans uncomfortable with any threats to their still-quite-privileged status.
And John Martin? Really? Grow up and get over it.

Hi to all the awaken people of the world,
My spirits are eleveted for the following reasons,
People from all over the world and especially from the CAPTIVE EU. I will start with the Geeks as a people and as a country, GREECE IS UNDER OCCUPATION, it is hopefully known that people saw the Greeks demonstrating against a ransid Government under the Sign of Socialism first and under the New Democracy next , persuing a policy of eliminating the Greek people, the same that was done to Ukraine. the Greeka though are Organising, (that’s very bad for the Authorities) The fisrt are aware that the Polical Parties are 5th Falangists together with the captured Media. I liked to see here Boyan from France mentioning François Asselineau’s UPR. A similar movement exists in Greece under the Greek equivelant of UPF or EPAM (meaning United People’s Front) It is Patriotic fighting for INDEPENDENCE, and Sovereignty, with a National Currency, The General Secretary is Dimitris Kazakis an economist , The Movement consists of people from accross the political spectrum, or what it used to be. We know that the EU is Fascist in its nature mascaradind as a Democracy , an insult to the Greeks thjat know PRECISELY the meaning of the word. Now for the WAR in Ukraine , I have NOT come accross any Greek that supports the Fascists in Kiev, even paradoxically, so called Right Wingers, SAME FEELINGS as they had about the Bombing of Serbia, by the SAME CULPRITS.
The same scene played more than 150 years ago, 1853 in fact, when the Greek Government was Hostage to Britain and France, blocked the main port of Peiraious, but Greeks volunteered to fight with Russia against the WEST.
SAME AS IT EVER WAS.
It isn’t just about old bonds, even though that counts, it is ABOUT JUSTICE, that’s what drives the Greeks.
It is a shame that Ukrainians fight against Ukrainians that’s a Civil war and we Greeks nkow taht we had it in 2 doses 1944-1946 and 1947 – 1949. It is horrific. I lost my uncle , and he was fighting with the so called Government forces of the day. Other people profited as it always is, I was a bitter Anti-communist (The government Propaganda and the loss of my uncle had done the job perfectly) Until I learned a foreign language and the meaning of the words.
Now I am a Greek Patriot with no political bias but hold human values, JUST VALUES.
I wish that all the European People get to wake up before it is Too Late.
They intend to eliminate us as many as possible, make sure we don’t give them the pleasure.
Inform , inform inform as many as possible.
I Like Glaziev’s ideas for Sovereign Nations and National Economies working with friendly Nations.
As a Greek I wish the people o Donbass and Lugansk as well as the rest of Ukraine o throw the Occupation as speadily as possible.
At economic collapse, war is the option.
Mr. Saker; they have discharged the insane from their hospital beds: Some West countries call for denunciation of Russia-NATO Founding Act. This step will make it possible to increase the number of troops NATO can deploy in the territory of the former Eastern bloc states
One Week! then what?
With more sanctions threatened, Mr. Putin has been given an Ultimatum – one week to reverse course in Ukraine
European Union leaders have given Russia a week to reverse course in Ukraine

Ukraine: A perspective from Europe
By Alasdair MacLeod
Selected Excerpts
The History is Important
“The relevant history of Ukraine and the interests of the great powers go back to the Second World War, when it was fought over between Germany and Russia with tremendous loss of life.[.]
It was inevitable that following the collapse of the Soviet Union Ukrainian nationalism would reassert itself. But Ukraine’s borders had never been fixed and its claim to be a well-defined state is dubious: at best it was no more than a federation of provinces that retained their individual identities over the centuries.”
[.] The Russian Dimension
>>“Russia’s reactions to NATO and the EU’s policy ambitions towards Ukraine have been perfectly logical and could easily have been foreseen by any competent analyst. In this context there are two elements to consider, Russia itself and the personality of President Putin.
The Russian people have enjoyed a significant uplift in their standard of living under Putin, and a new middle class has emerged, which is growing and becoming wealthier by the day. Unlike more advanced, welfare driven economies this improvement has been real and not degraded by ever-accumulating debt. There is much that is wrong in Russia as western critics continually tell us, but the fact is that Russia is economically more resilient than its western counterparts, and her people are thankful and loyal to a strong leader.
This strength is seriously underestimated by western economists who have been brought up in the ivory-tower world of Keynesian and monetarist economics. This is why they mistakenly think cutting Russia off from western capital markets is a severe punishment. It is not: the Russian leadership are not dependant on access to debt finance, not intimidated, and they feel no need to hurry their responses.
Putin’s advisers are fully aware that implementing sanctions will harm NATO members far more than Russia, and nothing done so far is likely to affect their minimum objective of ensuring Ukraine does not become a vassal state of the west.<<
[.]We should think of Putin as the ringmaster in control of the Mackinder Heartland, which Mackinder summed up as follows:
Who rules East Europe commands the Heartland;
Who rules the Heartland commands the World-Island;
Who rules the World-Island controls the world.
The Heartland runs from the Volga to the Yangtze, and the World-Island is the inter-linked continents of Europe, Asia and Africa. Halford Mackinder’s paper was presented to the Royal Geographical Society in London in 1904. Since then the Russia he knew has been destroyed twice, once by the October Revolution of 1914 and once by communism. Yet still Russia survives, her power remains, and Putin is now master of it all.[.]
The Consequences for Western Europe
[potential causalities in a financial war with Russia]
[.]In Part 2: The Rise of the East, we outline how the Ukrainian situation is likely to develop. Spoiler alert: Russia has a hand full of aces.[.]

The sanction game, is a game to an end, the eventual war with Russia. See the demonization, endless. The sanctions the EU, NATO, USA are imposing are their path to the prize they want. In the end they will blame Russia and the imposers will say, see we tried everything to resolve this to no avail. We must now eliminate them. All the puppets will be on board for the nuclear end. Pray for us.
Re: Ugly EU Kindergaten
Isn’t it amazing that Fogh of war (Rasmussen) has the face of a rabid terrier, teeth bared, a snarling look, and a crazed glint in the eyes. He also barks like one and acts like one. The other day I saw the mug shot of another Danish Minister: looks like a cousin of Fogh of war. Sarkozy the midget also had a savage look and Cameron has the look of a street hoodlum of the type that is now almost a landmark feature of London and other British towns. Is the EU going down the potty hole? I propose a serious debate on this question.
El Murid gave an interview to Life News on his yesterday’s meeting with Igor Strelkov whom he knows personally for some 4-5 years already. Before their yesterday’s meeting, Murid also met Strelkov a week ago in Donetsk. Strelkov is now in Russia. Strelkov’s resignation was demanded by Vladislav Surkov, Putin’s point man for the Ukrainian affairs, who was also the leading figure of the previous Russian policy of appeasement, which nearly destroyed Novorossiya. El Murid laid this out in his allegoric and not so cryptic essay (http://evrazia.org/article/2568) published upon meeting Strelkov. Strelkov’s resignation was presented as a condition for and in exchange of support and aid to Novorossiya. El Murid implied this in his description of the meeting with Strelkov and he said it openly and explicitly in his Life News interview. I remember Strelkov saying this very thing himself in the past–several times somewhat indirectly and once rather openly when he was still in Slavyansk. https://vk.com/strelkov_info?w=wall-57424472_14927
It seems that Zionist scumbag Kolomoisky is sacrificing some of his minions as part of some side deal.
Zam. the battalion commander “Azov”: Kolomoisky offers Mariupol
http://rusvesna.su/news/1409477018
Last night from Mariupol removed all the soldiers of the battalion Dnepr-1, which many experts call a “private army Kolomoisky”,
Motives delivery Kolomoisky Mariupol is still unknown, but one can assume that the Dnipropetrovsk Governor, the environment which maintains close relations with the leaders of the terrorists, just got a deal with them.
At the present time to protect Mariupol remained battalions “Azov” and “Shakhtersk and a small number of internal troops. The promised artillery defenders of Mariupol has not waited. ( trans: The artillery promised to the defenders has not arrived)
For the sake of truth I contacted the chiefs of battalions “Shakhtersk” and “Azov”, which confirmed the information about the withdrawal of fighters from Mariupol. Now all Ukrainian society is witness to betrayal oligarch Kolomoisky his people and attempt to (deal with?) Putin. Death to the occupiers and their accomplices oligarchs!”
Meanwhile Kolomoisky is on an unrestrained campaign of looting both the Ukraine and weaker oligarchs with impunity. The head of Ukraine’s anti-corruption committee calls “Kolomoisky evil for Ukraine” and “blames Kolomoiskiy for everything”
http://www.epravda.com.ua/publications/2014/08/25/484449/
The notion that this zionist scumbag will somehow be punished is unfortunately a naïve desire for justice in a world where none exists. Kolomoisky is the U.S. favourite and is fully supported by the neo-cons and other Zionist groups both within the U.S. and worldwide. (He has recently solidified that position with the appointment of VP Biden’s son to Burisma)
The worst case scenario for Kolomoisky is scurrying to Israel (as so many other crooks have done), effectively immunizing him against any criminal charges.
One question to keep always in mind – what is Kolomoisky up to?

One possibility for the next false flag/dirty trick:
Kiev is loaded with US/EU military/intelligence/police. A fair amount of European and American civilians are there at any given time. During Poroshenko’s imminent attendance at NATO in the UK, it would be easy to stage a small RPG/explosives ‘terror’ attack on facilities in Kiev, with the attendant appropriate and nationality-balanced casualties. The western media sits in Kiev hotels, the press releases and scripts will be ready. And – by this time, SBU probably has a few NAF/RU prisoners whose identities will actually stand up to international scrutiny to take the hit. Such an event would be easy to stage, in a favorable environment, easy to control and manage, and a dramatic reentrance of Poroshenko to Kiev to ‘confront the crisis’, perfect timing for USEUNATO escalation.
HOW THE NSA HELPED TURKEY KILL KURDISH REBELS
U.S. secret agents have also provided support to the Turkish government in its battle against the Kurdish separatists with the PKK for years.
One top-secret NSA document from January 2007, for example, states that the agency provided Turkey with geographic data and recordings of telephone conversations of PKK members that appear to have helped Turkish agents capture or kill the targets.
“Geolocations data and voice cuts from Kurdistan Worker Party communications which were passed to Turkey by NSA yielded actionable intelligence that led to the demise or capture of dozens of PKK members in the past year,” the document says.

Re: gay „rights“.
Part 1: About „rights“ in general.
Nature knows no rights. For example
– where were the rights of the American Indians when their country was colonized and they were exterminated? Btw the same situation exists today with Tibetans and Uighurs – except that the extermination is in slow motion.
– where are the rights of the people in the Empire of lies? Countries get looted (included our own), massacres and genocides take place, wars are being declared, strongly biased trade treaties are being implemented by the „elites“ and the people are never consulted. „Rights“ anyone?
My conclusion: Nature knows no rights. Nature knows only desires: desire to enjoy one’s own preferences, to be rich, to be powerful, to be protected etc. And the current heavy insistence on „rights“ means only that these desires /must/ be accepted by the general population – that you are not entitled to disagree with one or more of them. In other words they are just one more weapon of propaganda/coercion in the Empire’s arsenal to subvert our populations. Btw this notion of „rights“ comes directly from the Empire – so does anyone really believe that it is for the common good?
Part 2: About „gay rights“ in particular.
Homosexuality is as old as humanity. All cultures had their percentage of homosexuals (something like 4-5 %?) and in most cultures – including our own – they were always tolerated. They were never accepted as mainstream though because they were not viewed as a valid replacement of the family. In today’s MSM they are touted as an a valid family replacement, while the family itself is vilified („women’s slavery“) – this alone shows the biased nature of this propaganda. And I also believe that children – during their formative years – need a father and a mother so as to become familiar with both kinds of humans.
My conclusion: Homosexual „rights“ are one more invention by the Empire of lies to destroy our family and thus destroy our societies. And I recently discovered a very short video by a (honest) jewish rabbi (!!!) which perfectly illustrates this point: „Why Jews push gay marriage“ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yLbF0BtZs4

How could the average German (far too many do not speak English) learn about the real ongoings in Ukraine from our msm? No chance. I found you through zerohedge/comments only.
A proposal: why not cooperate via link sharing with widely read german alternative media websites?
Maybe the german Saker edition’ could post the abive kind of yt videos about protests in our country?
Despite the daily propaganda by our msm, most Germans do not buy it but consider Russia as a european neighbour that deserves fair treatment and respect instead of contempt or worse.

Dear Saker
I can fully understand your frustrated incomprehension at the conduct of the poodle pack, which I find increasingly hard to describe as European “leaders”. But I think you (and most others who are also astonished by their behaviour) are maybe looking at them through the wrong lens. Often when we find ourselves completely nonplussed by matters, it’s not because we have the wrong answers but because we ask the wrong questions.
If one looks at them as leaders of independent sovereign European states who feel a personal responsibility to execute their duties conscientiously, and are dedicated to furthering the interests of their electorate, their conduct is incomprehensible. If however, you look at them as bought and paid for servants of the AZ New World Order project, their behaviour seems a lot more rational. They are merely obeying orders. My own impression is that Washington is now the Mafia become a state. And once you’ve taken Omerta, there’s only one way out.
One must accept that (almost) the entirety of the political and informational infrastructure in Western countries has been suborned to the AZ interests and its NWO chimera. After all, if someone in the West wants to effect change and stands any chance of actually doing so, or really tells the truth that others can hear, what is the outcome? I suspect that the current Washington frenzy is partly fueled by the thought that they have little time as people in the West may sometime soon be thinking that Colonel Kalashnikov is their only hope for change.

I can understand your feelings about Yarosh.Of all the people on the Kiev side its the neo-nazis that are the most “honest”.Don’t get me wrong, they are also as evil as they come. And need killing, for Ukraine to be free again.Their death squad thugs can be as bad as nazis are.But at least you know where you stand with them. Its you or them in this fight. With scum like Poroshenko,Tymesenko,Yatz,Avakov,Kolomoisky, etc.I think you’d need to disenfect your hand if forced to shake their hand. They would (and probably have) sell their mother if it would help them.

I remember newspaper & online polls which gave Putin a spectacularly high aproval rating over the current crop of pygmy politicians in the West – before they were taken offline …
Since the Maidan events I have worked in 6 EU member states, the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Iceland. I lecture to thousands, and ALWAYS bring up US aggression in Ukraine and the Kiev / fascism ellision. The overwhelming majority (circa 90%) agree; they see through the lies of the dying MSM, most of them get much of their news from the internet these days. The audience are academics and entrepreneurs, but they are influential.
I can’t help but think that the mounting MSM hysteria is a response to the elite’s dawning realisation that the usual crap isn’t working.
Inability to see the truth is the karma of liars and those who accept lies without examination. This is effective for the liar even if the lies are a stage act and not believed by the liar. Eventually enough energy goes into maintaining the consistency of the fantasy world that contact with reality is lost. Losing contact with reality equals insanity.
Or in simpler terms:

The cost of getting rid of US citizenship has quadrupled to $2350, up from $450.
“Demand for the service has increased dramatically, consuming far more consular officer time and resources. Documenting a US citizen’s renunciation of citizenship is extremely costly, requiring American consular officers overseas to spend substantial amounts of time to accept, process, and adjudicate cases. The Department believes there is no public benefit or other reason for setting this fee below cost,” wrote Under Secretary of State Patrick Kennedy.
In order to leave America, citizens have to prove they’ve been paying tax for five years and if you are worth more than $2 million or if you’ve been paying income tax of $157,000 or more then you have to pay an exit tax like a capital gains tax.

Saker,
The complaint about spineless EU leaders is as valid today as it was twenty years ago. I distinctly remember similar expressions as I marched against Reagan’s nuclear arsenal rockets being proposed to a Belgian base. It was the first time I voted, and the only party that opposed it then were the socialists.
In this case, the leadership is the direct consequence of a democratic process – more democratic in most EU countries than in the USA; at least in most EU countries the sponsoring of candidates by multinationals is heavily restricted. Still, the apparent ‘nerdiness level’ of many eurocrats is also a safeguard against another pan-European oratory charismatic, which is seen as much more potentially dangerous.
The key here is ideology. Europe made the same mistake of jumping the gun at quickly recognizing a romantic revolution/overthrow as they did in the Balkan conflict. Imagine what Europe could have been like if, rather than a ‘rapid deployment military force’, they could have a rapid deployment diplomatic crisis team, supported by Russia, EU and China/India, whose sole purpose is to avoid war and force a diplomatic solution including the imposition of protectorates and the proposal of new constitutional orders that reflect new democratic trends.
This is what we should learn from the Balkans, the dissolution of the USSR, the failed dissolution of Russia (Chechnya) and the Ukraine debacle: stop causing and celebrating romantic revolutions; they cause more harm than good for more people. We need a combination of regime such as China/Russia/Europe, and we need it to come about gradually, over generations, with minimum bloodshed and certainly without war.

I would note that the people you mentioned are all EU apparatchiks – but none of them have any actual military power; in additional, the fiscal resources these individuals control is very highly limited.
Ultimately it is the actual leaders of the EU members (and non EU like the UK) which matter.

A little question for military experts, including Saker.
I saw a comment on twitter to the effect that a good and well-trained infantry soldier is more useful than the same soldier with a tank, which can be easily destroyed.
I spent some time thinking about this, and it seems to me that the accumulation of too many tanks and the desire to use them may actually become a liability in the sense that they are so easy to spot and destroy, they are sitting ducks. In addition to the fact they must consume a lot of fuel.
On the surface, it appears to be a great thing to have, a tank, looks so powerful, but it turns out one man on foot with the right weapon can pop up out of nowhere and destroy it, and the crew with it. It may well be that the most precious asset of an army are good infantry soldiers.
I am extremely ignorant about military matters, so all these thoughts could be wrong, but if so, I would like to know why.
A fascinating thinkpiece about how Russia uses the Western liberal mindset to achieve its own propaganda goals:
Understanding the Astounding Novorossiyan Victories
The western simulacrum is based upon liberalism, but to use such a word is not entirely descriptive by itself. More to the point, like much of democratic theory, it is based somewhat on giving individuals various doses of narcissistic supply, flattering them by telling them that all what they see is theirs and that all what they have is real. It informs them that they, without putting tremendous work or directing their skepticism in the right direction, are already equipped to understand the world as presented.
Rather, the liberal individual is encouraged to direct his skepticism at those who are skeptical of the entire schema, and those real skeptics are called ‘cynics’. But the world as presented to them is a manufactured holographic program which the ruling class has built (and inherited) using all spheres of media, education, ideology, ‘common sense’, and so-called civil society. Thus the totalitarian myth of pluralism proceeds from that cognitive error, and can only understand itself through its own language – which is no way to understand something thoroughly, at all.
…
Thus much of the liberal simulacrum is held together by good people not wanting to offend, and thoughtful people wanting to be rational. Among others, reasonableness is the emotive state used in liberalism to justify hierarchies – the more reasonable, the higher the status. So it is produced together: 1.) reasonableness-as-morality, 2.) conformity, 3.) submission. The simulacrum however projects over those three productions the following emotional states: 1.) rationalism 2.) individualism 3.) freedom.
The Russian planners and thinkers who work in this realm of cognitive science have been working closely to inform Putin and is advisers. They understand the above set of complex relations between actual reality, thinking, and projected reality, and understand the way the western liberal mind functions, and how it interacts with the news cycle. Most of these experts were of adult age when the USSR still existed, and Soviet society, while ultimately destroyed by liberalism, was not a liberal society. It’s entire schema was different, and produced a different – though still modern – weltanschauung.

You are correct Yarosh has ability and within the right sector “charisma and respect”.
Part of this is based on social class since, misguided or not, a significant part of the fueling anger and hopes of the right sector is based upon their alienating experience in Ukraine post 1991; and Yarosh is just like them in appearance, dress, language, pronunciation, and orientation whilst giving direction to their anger – to many in the right sector he is nasha – even his skin is not like Timoshenka’s.
The oligarchs have enjoyed some success encouraging/deflecting this anger into “nationalism”, history – some invented, blaming the other – Russia, and creating opportunities where anger can be partly dissipated and community coalesced through joint enterprise in violence including killing.
However these fundamental contradictions within the opponents are important to understand in order to achieve the purpose that lies in transcendance, which is not necessarily wholly synonymous with killing.
On the history – some invented, an interesting question is whatever happened to Stepan Bandera.
Putin Calls For “Immediate Talks” Over Eastern Ukraine “Statehood”
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/31/2014 – 13:54
Vladimir Putin, who has repeatedly said that he does not favor the break-up of Ukraine – but only greater autonomy for the East, appears to have changed course rather dramatically today. In a speech broadcast on Russian TV, the Russian leader stated “we need to immediately begin substantive talks… on questions of the political organisation of society and statehood for southeastern Ukraine.” As The Washington Post reports, use of the word “statehood” reflects a major shift in Kremlin policy towards ‘Novorossiya’ – it would be a direct challenge not only to Kiev but also to Western European nations and the United States, which have been trying to force Moscow to back down. While not directly addressing the latest round of sanctions chatter, Putin concluded, perhaps ominously, “they should have known that Russia cannot stand aside when people are being shot almost at point-blank.”

THE TRUE MESSAGE FROM THE EU SUMMIT: AS UKRAINE CRUMBLES, EUROPE CUTS POROSHENKO LOOSE
Behind all the bluster about sanctions (about which see below) the real story of the EU summit is that Poroshenko is on his own.
Amongst the multiple crisis the junta faces its key crisis is military. Though there is currently a pause as the NAF consolidates and re equips with the hoard of weapons it has captured there is already talk of a further NAF offensive pending, which could be the knock out blow. Even if that does not happen the prospects of the junta winning the war and crushing the NAF before winter have gone. Given the severity of the Ukraine’s economic crisis its ability to sustain the war through the winter is to put it mildly open to doubt.
The only way out for the junta from this disastrous military situation is through military aid from the west. That is what Poroshenko has been demanding. That is what all the talk of a Russian invasion was supposed to procure. That is why the junta has resurrected talk of the Ukraine joining NATO.
Obama’s and Merkel’s statements make it absolutely clear that western military aid is definitely not going to be forthcoming to the junta at least not on anything like the scale needed to turn the military situation round. The emphatic language both Obama and Merkel have used on this point strongly points to a categorical refusal to involve themselves in the war by the US uniformed military. It is also surely the case that Obama’s and Merkel’s political advisers have warned them that western public opinion would not tolerate such a step.
As is now routine the western powers are trying to hide the fact that they are now essentially an emperor without clothes with brave talk of more sanctions. Given that the previous rounds of sanctions have been an utter failure doubts about this option are spreading with Slovakia and possibly Hungary threatening to veto them but the reality is that they are all the west has. The extent of the bankruptcy of their policy and of their tacit acknowledgement of the fact is shown by their failure at the summit to come up with any further pledges of meaningful economic support for the junta, something which must also have left Poroshenko bitterly disappointed. As for their attempt to persuade the Russians to agree a compromise gas price in order to secure their own supplies, the Russians have firmly ruled that idea out.
In light of this no one should be in any doubt about who some of the language that has come out of the EU summit is actually addressed to. When EU leaders say this crisis “cannot be solved militarily”, they are not addressing Putin who does not need that advice but Poroshenko and the junta and their supporters in Washington and Warsaw and elsewhere who are the ones who have consistently refused to try to solve the crisis in any other way. Barroso’s comment about the situation approaching “a point of no return” (echoed by several other EU leaders) was not addressed at Russia as a careful study of his words shows. It was addressed to Poroshenko who is facing defeat. Similarly the calls for a ceasefire are not addressed to Putin, who has consistently supported one, but to Poroshenko and the junta and their supporters who have repeatedly refused to observe a ceasefire and who again blocked attempts to impose one at the Security Council a few days ago.
2)Again no one should be under doubts about why the Europeans are now making these calls. It is not because of concern for the people of the Ukraine to whose suffering they have shown complete indifference. It is because only through a ceasefire and negotiations can they avoid the total humiliation brought about by the utter failure of their policy.
The person most responsible is Angela Merkel. Rather than risk an almighty row with the US and its European allies Britain, Poland, the Baltics and the Scandinavian states she went along with their policy of seeking all out military victory whilst trying to soothe German business opinion (her core constituency) by engaging in weeks of negotiations with the Russians to which it is now clear she was never really committed and which as a result led precisely nowhere. Someone has described her to me as a person who is trying to keep a footing on both the up and down escalators at the same time. In doing this she gambled that her threat of sanctions would deter the Russians from calling her out. Her bluff has now been well and truly called, she faces a brewing revolt within Europe led by the Slovaks and possibly the Hungarians who are now publicly questioning her policy and it is clear that she has no real idea what to do.
There is no prospect that Poroshenko will do what Merkel and the other European leaders want him to do. As should by now be obvious the Maidan movement is structurally incapable of compromise, a condition which as Putin correctly pointed out today the pending election campaign is going to make worse. Beyond that Poroshenko also has to fear what looks like a growing challenge from Kolomoisky for whom compromise is simply not an option. The only way the junta might be induced to agree a ceasefire and to talk is if the EU were to make it clear that all further economic and political support would be withheld unless it did so. That is something the Europeans have neither the will nor the courage to do. With military defeat looming and economic collapse pending and with the very real risk of gas supplies to Europe being interrupted in the autumn the Europeans have no answers. Politically as well as (probably) economically they are looking at a cold winter ahead.
Look at how the NovoRussian Steve McQueen speaks face-to-face with defeated Ukie troops and shakes their hands. Could there be a greater contrast between this decency and the behavior of the Ukie government officials?
Here is a link to a SOTT.net synopsis of the situation in Ukraine.
My name is Marvin. I am 68 years old, I live in Olympia Washington, and I will vote for Hillary Clinton.
My neighbor talks of Ukraine. To him I say the entire system in America is built on war, all politicians are corrupt. I say I would never vote for her and will repeat that consistently. But in the end, I will do all I can to collect my government check. I worked for it, I paid into it, and I have no contigency plan. I wasted money on a bad mortgage and alcohol, I’ve spoiled my children and grandchildren to where they now depend on and expect monthly cash contributions, and thus I have absolutely no savings. I have no chance of risidual income because I never once tried to diversify my income and instead only had a job that was protected by a union. I need that check. Period.
I will watch MSNBC, fear the alternative, and will absolutely vote democrat.

My name is Jordan. I am 24 years old, I live in Olympia Washington, and I will vote for Hillary Clinton.
In highschool I specialized in girls and weed and thus had no chance at college. I have a small criminal record so I can’t join the military. There are no jobs beyond MacDonalds and because I still live at home, to appease my mom, on November 4, I will actually bother to vote. All I know is that mom votes democrat, so probably so too will I. I never really thought about it. Most of my friends joined the military and now I just hang out with my girlfriend and watch tv. I don’t really know anything about Russia.

My name is Teddie. I’m 58 years old, I live in Olympia Washington, and I will vote for Hillary Clinton.
I know my government is full of liars and thieves, but frankly, I’m concerned about the tires on my car. We need to find a supplier who will give us financing because all our credit cards are full. I have two adult children living at home, they can’t find jobs or get into the military, I know there are bad things going on in Ukraine because my neighbor goes on and on, but there is no chance I’m voting anywhere near limits on welfare because if this year I still don’t get a new truck for christmas I am absolutely just going to go buy one without him.
_ _ _ _ _
My name is Steve. I’m 56 years old, I live in Olympia Washington, and I will vote for Hillary Clinton.
I’m run ragged. No matter how much I make, she will spend more. I don’t have a moment to even look at news because all I do is work. I’ve never heard anything about Ukraine. When my neighbor speaks of it, I’m completely unable to focus because I’m packed full of antidepressants. I can’t follow anything he says because my mind thinks of 14 things before he is done talking. On November 4 I have to vote democrat because my only hope is that entitlements will still be there in ten years. Between my ex wife and this current fiasco, I don’t have ten cents. I’ve got to vote democrat. I don’t really even have a choice.
_ _ _ _ _
Collectively, we are the Germans of 1935. We have enough access to sufficient information to know what we are about to do. We will all say that we had no idea, that we are horrified to learn of our government’s actions. Yet to protect ourselves and our children, we will empower the next wave of atrocities. We haven’t needed our community or family, our only security is in future government checks, and until we learn to stop using their money, televisions and phones, we will be totally unable to change.
> On another note, I often speak of the Ukie “freaks”. But there is one guy which I personally find very likable on a personal, human level.
Another politician I’ve come across who comes across as decent, honest & unafraid is Gennady Moskal.
During the Maidan, he was brave enough to openly complain about “self defence forces” indulging in robbery, looting, extortion & even rape.
http://english.pravda.ru/world/ussr/03-03-2014/126991-ukraine_shock_chaos-0/
In late May, he was head of the Ukrainian parliamentary commission investigating the Maidan sniper shootings – and was brave enough to go against the “official narrative” (made public days after the coup by the new prosecutor general of Ukraine, Oleg Makhnitsky, a member of the far-right Svoboda party) – & stated that the bullets found did not match firearms issued to the special anti-riot police unit Berkut.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sponsored/rbth/politics/10857920/ukraine-murder-maidan.html
He has recently been “kicked out” of the party Fatherland – for “having & speaking his own opinion” according to him (if I understood the Ukrainian article correctly). Fatherland is the party of Tymoshenko.
Presumably they view him “speaking the truth” as a betrayal.
In fact – there seems to be wholesale chaos in Ukie politics at the moment – given the dissolution of the Rada by the President on 25th August.
At least according to this LifeNews article:
http://lifenews.ru/mobile/news/139106
And given that situation, a detailed look at the Ukie political scene right now would make a great article. Don’t you think?
PS Thanks for your blog Saker. It is brilliant – and well needed to counter the BS that passes for reporting in the Western MSM. I can see that it is tons of work. I am grateful. Well done & keep up the good work.
One thing to bear in mind is why are Conservative politicians all over Europe signed up to destroy their own nation and bury it inside the EU? It goes against all history and human nature.
There are ideological reasons in favor on the left but not on the right so it makes no sense.
Now one reason is simply corruption. Pro-EU forces offer money to the political campaigns of people who are pro-EU and so bit by bit they filtered out genuinely conservative politicians and replaced them with crooks.
nb Russia should use this – most Conservative politicians in the EU will be bribable because only the bribable conservative politicians were allowed to get elected.
However that’s not enough for the most critical roles like NATO secretary general. For a role like that some more powerful form of control is needed.
So in my opinion *all* the politicians who become NATO secretary general will have some serious blackmail on them.
In the past that would have been adultery or homosexuality but those are less powerful nowadays.
However I think it would be worth assuming that any Conservative politician who is in a particularly critical role in a EU or transatlantic institution will have serious dirt in their background.

Excuse me sir, are you Evgeniy Alexeyevich Fedorov, the deputy?
I have the same impression as you about Iarosh.
Tovarishch zdorov’ye.
The pro-American commentary on sites ranging from The Guardian to The Daily Kos has taken a noticeable turn in the direction of desperation, frenzy, hysteria, as months of blatant lies and propaganda have failed to gain traction among the masses. In fact, the NAF keeps on looking better every day, in every way. A lot of cool new international volunteers. Well, you know – maybe its time for a revolution in global affairs. Perhaps the neoliberal, neofascist era has peaked. The legions of Obama and Merkel acolytes might end up sweeping the streets of DC and Berlin by the time the New American and New German armies are finished.
Support to the NAF all the way!
– from the USA
Most European politicians are American whores… I mean Atlancists.
That is why they were *allowed* by Uncle Scam to reach these positions of power in the first place!
America’s political subversion, agents of influence, and regime change operations aren’t just targetted at the Third World or non-Western “enemy nations,” they are even targetted at the USA’s supposed “allies.”
In many ways, it’s better to be openly painted as an enemy by America rather than as a friend.
At least then, you know to be on your guard against the American predator!
Quote: Look at how the NovoRussian Steve McQueen speaks face-to-face with defeated Ukie troops and shakes their hands. Could there be a greater contrast between this decency and the behavior of the Ukie government officials?
Have before now suggested that ‘come the hour comes the man’.
I also wrote about how Poroshenko was a transition figure, Ukraine’s @rebound man’ and that at the right time would arise a leader who was able to lead a government of unity.
This is much as happened in Russia with Putin. Back then, if not Putin, then who? It is hard for even those who are his enemies to suggest a person better able to do what has been done in Russia.
Does anyone think that we are, perhaps, starting to see ‘the man’?
The thing is that for Novorossia to remain within Ukraine (which is, I believe, the preferred option of the RF for Ukraine, the ONLY a leader from Novorossiya could unite the country. I do ot see it as a possibility for anyone from Kiev or the current power structure. Of course presenting such a person to the populace of the west is tough, but if they understand a man’s humanity, clarity and honest, constructive core beliefs could such a thing happen? Could that process of presentation and image building be already underway? I think that the actions of the past few days, although initiated from Putin, could be seen as the start of such a process.
I think he has the core values to enable a process of reconciliation between the people of Ukraine and between Ukraine and Russia.
But what do I know?

Putin Calls For “Immediate Talks” Over Eastern Ukraine “Statehood” Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/31/2014 – 13:54
The word statehood appears to be misinterpretated. It is being reported at RT and RIA as
Putin told Channel 1 TV, adding that the Ukrainian government “must immediately start substantial talks – not a technical discussion – on the political organization of society and the state in southeast Ukraine so that the interests of people who live there are protected.”
Notice the difference? {the state in the southeast=aka the situation in the southeast}
And Mr. Putin’s spokesman has corrected the western media:

Fist post, but have been reading for a while and wish to say thank you for the great articles…and fighting the good fight for truth in a world devoid of principle.
From ITAR TASS news agency just now:
Senator Dianne Feinstein is now calling for direct discussions with Putin over Ukraine.
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/747464
During MH17 and the many Ukraine false claims of military victory, Feinstein was hawkish towards Putin. She now seems to be changing her tune.
Will more Senators (looking to save face) start to look for a way out of the mess they have warmongered for so long?
1) Margaret Thatcher was a bosom friend of America. See her full approval of Pinochet, a CIA sponsored dictator.
2) François Mitterrand was more than dubious. The real opening of France to the USA’s influence happened under his terms. Some people, in the political high spheres, ended up “suicided”.
3) Francisco Franco was partly sponsored by large American corporations, and stood for Hitler.
I don’t think any of those are good examples of sound statesmanship or would have done any better, under the same conditions (the overtake of the EU by Washington), than the current clowns, specially n°1 and n°3.
And please, don’t respect America. Nobody who privileges bombings (killing without taking risks)can be called a true soldier. It’s the strategy of the coward.
