As I have said many many times, I don’t care one bit about the amount of people who read the Saker blog. I do care only about the quality of the readership, not its quantity. Simply put: I want to reach the right people. Besides, since I have no ads, no pop-ups, no special memberships, no for pay only articles, etc. the number of visitors also makes no difference to our finances either. About once a year, I ask our webmaster how we are doing, and his reply has always (so far) been “same as before, no changes”.
Today I am going to break that rule to convey something I think will interest the entire Saker community. But first, in this context, I want to mention two groups of people very hostile to the blog and me personally:
- Those who left the Saker blog in anger/rage over something I wrote or posted, and who explain to me in endless “divorce letters” that they, and many many MANY others are now also leaving the Saker blog in disgust.
- There are small and mostly irrelevant websites out there who want to become visible and, in order to achieve that, they “bark up” the Saker blog and even me personally. Their transparent hope is that picking a fight with me will eventually gain some visibility.
As you know, I totally ignore both of these groups, primarily because I couldn’t care less about them and their illiterate tactics.
Yesterday, however, I got an email from Ron Unz’ mailing list which mentioned the (excellent) ranking of the Unz Review so I took a look. Below I will reproduce the full table published by Ron:
But first I want to say that I find these results quite amazing, to be honest. There are 70 websites listed here, including a few “super top-dogs” with truly phenomenal figures. The Unz Review is in position number 10, which is very good indeed. The Saker blog is much lower, in 26th position with only about 1/4th of the Unz readership. But then, look further below as some results are truly quite amazing. The Saker blog outranks major websites like (in order): SPLC, Moon of Alabama, Off Guardian, Voltairenet, Current Affairs, Strategic Culture, Veterans Today, VDare, Commentary Magazine, Paul Craig Roberts, Harpers Magazine, Nation of Islam, Antiwar.com, Op Ed News, Consortium News, Anti-Empire, Conter-Currents, Information Clearinghouse, Chronicles Magazine, the Duran and Russia Insider.
Did you expect that??
I sure did not! In fact, I had no idea at all :-)
Before I continue, now please look at this table again and, especially carefully, at the actual figures shown:

This table shows a lot of interesting things:
- In spite of all the categorical statements of Saker-haters, the blog’s readership is not only stable, it is excellent in both quality AND quantity.
- The departure (and “divorce letters”) from those who were mad at me for crimethink or the blog’s “censorship” had zero effect on the blog.
- We can be sure that some of the owners websites ranking lower than the Saker are sick with envy (remember that their websites are all about ad revenue and/or “sponsors”!) and are desperate to gain at least some visibility or relevance by trying to bark up the Saker blog.
- No wonder the anti-COVID and anti-vaxx crusaders are so pissed that I refused to jump on their bandwagon: had I endorsed their ideology and agenda it would have given them a major PR boost. Instead, I told them to get lost with absolutely no negative consequences whatsoever for myself or the blog.
- Those websites who sold out to specific interests (be it Alt-Q, the Papacy, the Kremlin, CIA PSYOPs, Russian oligarchs, etc.) are not doing that well at all, in spite of the money they got in exchange for their honesty and souls.
- The same goes for the many clickbaiters out there (Veterans Today is a perfect example) who in spite of their ridiculous article and titles don’t seem to be able to attract many readers. This is excellent news indeed, as clickbaiters are not only dishonorable, but also rather dangerous.
- Blogs with no money but with brains do better than blogs with no brains but money. The perfect example is the excellent score of Moon of Alabama compared to, say, the pathetic score of The Duran.
Now I have an admission to make. While I really don’t care at all about the blogs which did not score as well as the Saker blog, to outrank VDare, Antiwar and the SPLC at the same time makes me feel warm all over :-)
One more important note: US IT corporations have all deranked the Saker blog. You can verify that yourself by entering a few keywords you have seen in a Saker blog title, and then compare the results of, say Google or Bing with the results from, say, DuckDuckGo or Yandex. The reason why we could survive such a deranking rather painlessly is not only because we don’t depend on ad revenue, but because we get most of our readers by means of word of mouth and not by depending on ANY corporation.
Likewise, the fact that the Saker blog TOTALLY and ONLY depends on 100% volunteer donations protects us from being suddenly defunded by anyone. This is a protection which only TRUE crowdsourcing can offer.
Now the bad news, obviously, is this: the Saker blog and I myself have made a lot of enemies over the years (perfect example here). The fact that all the efforts of our enemies to harm the blog (or me personally) have failed – I ignore them on principle – only further enrages them. Some have thrown in the towel, given up and quietly died (Fort-Russ) while others are still trying, but all they are actually achieving is damaging their own reputation. If they were capable of producing real, interesting, analyses, they would have no need to trash others (for example, Bernhard at MoA never felt the need to trash anybody and his blog is doing superbly well, especially for a true “one man show”!).
One last note. Here is what such rankings do NOT include:
- The separate Saker Community blog (at https://saker.community/)
- The five other language Saker blogs: French, Italian, Latin American (Spanish+Portuguese), Russian and Serbian
- The spontaneous translations made by independent volunteers (in all sorts of languages)
- The YouTube channels which some of these blogs also have
- The reprints of our articles both in the West and now very regularly in Russia
Again, not that this is of any importance, but I can only imagine what REAL figures the Saker Community as a whole would have if all the resources of our community would be counted together!
Finally, one caveat: I don’t know how/where Ron got his numbers. I am sure that Ron being both intellectually honest and IT-savvy did not make them up and that he got them from a credible source/method. Maybe from Alexa web ranking? Again, since rankings and quantitative criteria are irrelevant to me, I don’t really know (or care). I trust Ron’s honesty and skills. But I have to warn the readers that I cannot personally vouch for the accuracy of these numbers. They seem credible to me and match with what I have seen over the years, but that is only my best guess. So caveat emptor!
Having said that, I want to conclude with a humongous BRAVO!!! and THANK YOU!!! for all those who made the above possible and who still are making it possible today. As I wrote in my mini-biography, “It was never about me, but always about you“. That is still 100% true today. It is only thanks to you and your support (not only donations, but also all the many other forms of support, from kind emails, to prayers, to guest contributions, to organizational support, to moderation, IT-work, translations and everything else!!) that the Saker Blog survived for 15 years without ever sacrificing any of our principles under any circumstances, no matter how hard and, at times, even painful: the loss of trust and respect for individuals I once considered as true friends and fellow allies in the same cause is, by far, the worst and most painful aspect of all this for me. I try to accept that as coming with the territory, but each such backstabbing and hypocrisy still hurts every time (especially coming from people and websites I once helped a great deal to launch and publicize). But, over the years, at least it hurts a little less each time. I think this is progress, however humble.
The bottom line is this: I would never, ever, been able to achieve even a small fraction of this immense work had it not been for the help and support from so many wonderful people, especially in the tough times.
Now that we stand on the edge of the abyss and that we know even less than ever what tomorrow will bring, I wanted to indulge in this little bit of shameless self-congratulatory backslapping and high-fiving with all of you, the entire Saker Community and my friends and allies, while there is still time to celebrate.
I will now take the rest of the day off to spend some time recharging my batteries before the proverbial crapola hits the fan, either tomorrow or in the near future. And, who knows? God is merciful, maybe this time around He will save us from ourselves (again!)?
Hugs and cheers to all,
Andrei
The popularity might be a sign of the bad times we currently live in.
If the world was a better place, we wouldn’t need blogs and topics like these.
Anyway, congratulations.
Congrats dear Friend Andrei!
I would also add one point: the figures do not include the articles shared via telegram. I did translate (really) many articles from Saker’s blog to Portuguese, in order to share it with colleagues via telegram. And they share it downstream in many groups etc as well.
Personally, I take these scores for Saker’s Blog as a lower limit, we sure are doing even better.
Long life and prosperity for The Saker!
Yes, you are one of the independent volunteer translators I had in mind.
Thank you SO MUCH for your help!
Andrei
My pleasure ! I am really happy to help.
It’s a great thing to know that you are doing well. There are some folks like me who don’t comment or discuss much. We come to your blog seeking insightful analysis. Sometimes we disagree with you, most times we don’t, and that’s normal for healthy adults. What’s not normal is to pick ideological fights, and good riddance to those who left. Please keep it going as long as you have the energy! And please let us all know if you need some donations.
Congratulations Saker.
I was one who battled with you over matters of science.
When it comes to geopolitics however, I am your humble student.
and when it comes to science, I am not competent to have an opinion.
but I chose my teachers carefully :-)
Up next:World conquest by the Saker Blog!!!
how about, next, no war?
I would settle for that
I pray for no war every night at twilight time and 4 am when I wake up….I hope it helps..I…I do it reflexively….and I am as serious about this as I have ever been on The Saker blog….
Hey Saker. This report is really good news for those of us who count on your blog for its honest and clear analysis of geopolitical issues and the battle between the Empire and basically the rest of the world.
Also, I am extremely grateful for you bowing out of any coverage of COVID and the banning of the issue from this site.
Removed. Site rules. Mod. Nothing to see here. Move on.
With sites like yours getting out of the way we were able to bust a peoples move on them and it is paying off.
Congratulations on your ranking, keep up the good work and thanks for getting out of the way on the most important issue of our times.
thanks saker & unz… i will look at all the sites i dont know yet…
Agree. A high number I was already familiar with.
Some names… I used to visit frequently. Then less. Then not at all. Seeing the names on the list was like finding something forgotten at the back of the sock draw.
Always looking for quality analysis of issues.
And Saker is correct. Quality IS always more important than quantity.
Question d’un profane absolu qui vous lis tous les jours ou presque : ces chiffres sont des données annuelles ou mensuelles ?
Yandex translation. Mod:
Question from an absolute layman who reads you almost every day: are these figures annual or monthly data?
Amities,
Andrei
——
I think monthly, because I know that my blog has between 2 and 2.5 million PAGES (no readers, it’s not the same, a reader can read several pages) per month. So 1.7M per month on average seems reasonable to me. But that’s just a hunch, I’m not sure.
Kind regards,
Andrei
Merci infiniment. Vous ouvrez beaucoup de portes à la compréhension du réel. C’est une contribution sérieuse face à la propagande impérialiste devenue obscurantisme, mythologie, rituel oratoire, exutoire des peurs, et évitement magique des réalités désagréables.
Yandex translation. Mod:
Thank you so much. You open many doors to the understanding of reality. It is a serious contribution to imperialist propaganda that has become obscurantism, mythology, oratory ritual, outlet of fears, and magical avoidance of unpleasant realities.
If I could add a small rider: in fairness the Duran has been outpaced by the videos of its two stars Alexander Mercouris & Alex Christopholous. I think their YT And private site rankings are quite high. Russia Insider is a “dead” site. Every now and again it drags out something from its archives and eliminates all comments so hardly really counts.
Removed. Check site rules – Saker has covered in his post. Mod
Other wise congratulations. For a small site it’s a good score and leaves a challenge to bite at the heels of a few ahead :-)
Bravo to Herb and Amarynth!
Indeed! All the best regards to Herb and Amarynth.
For you too, Larchmonter445, for the excellent comments. A lot of people really rover the comments section down to find your lucid interventions.
Kind words and I thank you for them.
“A lot of people really rover the comments section down to find your lucid interventions.”
Yes me as well. I think we are due for another Larchmonter445 Guest Analysis :)
Larchmonter445 is a legend! His 2014 survey of the Sino-Russian double helix is an absolute classic!
During the KZstan kerfuffle, Moon of Alabama posted a link to a 2019 RAND study of Russia. The chapter about Russia’s foreign policy has nothing about the Sino-Russian alliance. In the summary table 2.4 (p. 42), the first item about Russia’s foreign policy vulnerabilities reads: “Lack of useful allies”. I could not believe my eyes. China is not a useful ally for Russia! LOL! I think we can safely say this is beyond moronic. Had they read Larchmonter445’s survey, they could have saved themselves such a monumental embarrassment.

YES!
Those two really stand out and their help is, quite literally, invaluable for me.
STANDING OVATION PLEASE FOR AMARYNTH AND HERB!
It feels good to read this.
It feels like, for once, the “good guy” wins.
Hollywood programs us to believe the good guy always wins, against all odds, right at the final moment.
But history is littered with good guys who were crushed and almost forgotten.
Today. A good guy is winning and it feels good to be part of it.
Thanks enormously for your blog Andrei.
And good health to you.
In the next life they will be victorious and remembered, praise be to God almighty 🤲
Quality over quantity I agree.
Andrei My Orthodox Brother,
Congratulations. It’s because the quality of your work my friend. God bless.
PS: Does anyone else find it a little unnerving that a unabashed Nazi website like the Daily Stormer is doing so well? I’m not surprised. I think it’s a response to the crazed Woke Ideology. I don’t blame young White Western Men to be angry and militant about what is being done to their nations and Western Civilization in general, but I for one (as a Mestizo with Native American ancestry and Brown Skin) do not want to see a Fourth Reich.
Indeed, the prevalence of right wing oriented sites among top rated does indeed jump at you. It’s like there’s a huge backlash against the propaganda of the MSM, all of which tends to “hyper liberal” (not the same as actual “liberal”), with ID issues reigning supreme and any and all debate mercilessly silenced.
I have been going through this list to parse it out a bit, and so far, find it kind of enlightening.
It’s kind of like – the peasants are rebeling – the world over. Ain’t that something/
Congratulation Andrei, and YAY for all of us. I spend hours here every day, reading, following links, researching outside the comments. I find the afforded distance from the sturm und drang of ordinary day to day non-stop propaganda allows me to know the world and its issues much more closely. Plus, you have awesome friends. Thank you for everything and keep on keepin on.
I live in Germany and consult the blog and articles on a daily basis. In the boiling sea of war propaganda and anti-Russian lies that rage all around us here in Europe, the Saker’s work is such a welcome voice of reason, sanity, and clear analysis. Being a deep Christian, not in the traditional western sense, I also cherish your humility in the face of the great mysteries of life, death and resurrection.
What a time to be alive! With sincere gratitude for all you share with us and prayers for peace.
Bravo to you, our fearless Saker! I check in daily as you are my #1 source of accurate world news. I am happy to hear that many others do the same.
Comrade Saker
I would trust Comrade Unz’s numbers….Ron is in the realm of the hyper-mystical Numerates….
The Saker above doesn’t dispute the numbers – he was wondering if all the other Saker sites etc. (see above) were included as well. Mod.
Congratulations Saker and thank you for this great website. I remember when I first ran into ‘The Vineyard of the Saker’ many years ago. Have been a regular visitor ever since this article;
http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.com/2013/10/1993-2013-is-twenty-years-long-pas-de.html
The Empire’s war on Russia been long and relentless and looks to be heating up..
Thanks to your sidekicks Herb and Amarynth as well, who help you make this site.
I will take even greater heart from the table when “Reminiscence of the future” appears in a solid position.
I TOTALLY AGREE! But I did not make that table and I have no way of accessing smoothie’s ranking
But, absolutely,
I HIGHLY recommend the blog https://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/
It is absolutely one of the best out there and would deserve a very high ranking for sure
I swim by Martyanov’s blog frequently.
I read only, as hearing issues make viewing vids difficult.
He is obviously an intelligent man of senior years… and yet I fear, so naive.
His site uses discus and takes adverts.
He is rapidly building a niche, yet significant audience….by offering quality analysis with a narrative that is the antipode of what is “permissible”.
Once he reaches a threshold; or eventually, inevitably posts something really unacceptable, I expect he will be deplatformed in a nano-second.
All his valuable online work…..pfft. It’s happened to so many others.
Others not nearly as “dangerous” as Smoothie.
I wish someone would warn him but I suspect he is the personality type that will only learn the hard way.
I wish him well, but I feel like I’m watching helplessly as a toddler reaches for the hot stove top.
And the “cancelling” of his blog would be a blow to those who seek his unique analysis.
I think Pat Lang found out in the last year that servers feel at home in Iceland…
the only real warranty against de-platforming would be primarily using p2p server-less blog (like ZeroNet, IPFS, etc) and only consider “usual WWW” as a copy from primary source. So if he gets banned – then it would be a matter to get new hosting and copy-cat the content there.
But i think it would be too much for him :-)
He is not IT guy, he is pro in other departments.
Saker himself, while having some IT skills, ended having hired a dedicate IT specialist for running his site.
That said, Disqus for all its faults is still much easier to use than MoA’s and even Saker’s comments.
Even such a basic thing as “notification about replies” is lacking at both MoA’s and Saker’s.
And, if Disqus would ban Smoothie – his blog is hosted on Google Blogger. Loss of comments would be a hit, but his posts would not be affected.
> I wish someone would warn him
I did.
But what are realistic ways for a non-IT solo guy?
> And the “cancelling” of his blog would be a blow to those who seek his unique analysis.
Overstated.
His old articles would be still there in archive.org
His new articles would start get posted somewhere, and everyone would learn new place in about a month.
It would be much less comfy, for sure. But it would not be a total loss.
Thank you so much Saker!
I come to your site to gain knowledge that is unavailable anywhere else. Having discovered Zone B late in life, I so look forward to your Analysis of current events. God willing, we all will “…run with endurance the race that is set before us!”.
Dear Andrei and the Saker staff, you have done an amazing job.
Your Greatest achievement was the Saker reports form the war against Eastern Ukraine, and Later against Syria. I would wager that these reports were able to mitigate the insane propaganda run by western medias, and actually save lives.
A maybe even greater achievement is that the Saker blog have created a forum for dialog between East and West. Dialog is a precondition to understanding, respect and hopefully peace.
Congratulations.
ditto to all the positive and grateful posts below. I trust the Saker blog and even when wrong I trust you will clear it up.
Thank you,
william
Congratulations for a well-deserved placement (which interestingly reflects my very subjective assessment of the blog’s standing too, ir, top 25 – never mind 26, close-enough). A few comments regarding these rankings:
1. The Saker is actually being penalized by being effectively banned from linking in several media. For example, Reddit has a site-wide ban of linking articles that appear The saker, something instituted last year and applied retroactively (which caused one of my 3 year old more popular posts to “vanish’ as I found out). Several other sites on the list are also banned, starting with The unz and Strategic Culture (to my knowledge, about 15 on the list are “hard banned” and another 10 are “soft banned”, meaning the links may or may not be censored, and/or a moderator has to manually approve them).
Taking this de-ranking and banning into account has no doubt affected the saker ranking but it’s hard to know by how much. My guess is that the reddit ban along cost a few places in the overall rankings.
2. I notice that the majority of the sites on the list are anti-establishment and/or conservative. I assume that’s because of who and how they were assembled?
3. I also believe that The Saker is a no-no on Facebook. I never tried (though I did pull some quotes out with “sneaky” crediting to the site. Likely got you 5 more readers…..who’ll never admit to being such, of course).
I will share these rankings where I can, just as an educational exercise. Agree with what you say, Saker, about quality be ing the #1 determinant for a certain kind of readership. The thinking kind.
Kudos again.
WOW!
I had no idea (since I don’t do or follow social media at all)!!!
LOL
They “punish” me and I don’t even know about it.
Tells you how much I care :-)
Kind regards and thanks again for the info!
Andrei
I read the moderation policy and decided to eventually comment.
I find the content, the contributors and the comments section of a very high level in knowledge, intelligence and personal, so I will try to contribute positively with my thoughts.
I am an live in Mexico so my english sometimes will not be perfect but, my intention is positive a hundred percent,
(I afmire the wise words of the saker, his contributors and many commentators)
Felicitaciones Saker!!

Congratulations on winning!
Congratulations Andrei! I am not surprised at the Blog’s popularity and fully expect it to keep rising. Cream always rises to the top.
I first started reading this blog regularly at the start of the whole mess in the Ukraine. I found it through Iraqwar.ru. It provided by far the best analysis of what was really happening when all the major western media were full of rubbish. Through all the different conflicts since then it is by far the most accurate and predictive of any material I have found on the internet. It has stood the test of time in its perspective on the world. I’m extremely grateful to have found this rare gem.
Keep up the great work!
God bless you
Dear Andrei,
you are running a classy intellectual blog, which keeps an open mind and discipline, it is seriously informative, and balanced in analytical approach. “Similes simile gaudet” – or birds of a feather flock together… Many of us are happy to gather or fly with you daily, weather we comment or not.
Disagreements can lead to constructive discussions. Your loyal readership likes that, but not everybody is capable of that, and some just blow the pop stand (Good riddance..)
Keep up the good work.
István
Congratulations Andrei and staff, you guys deserve it 1,000%.
I have been reading this blog since just before the little green men showed to to crush Obama’s dreams of stealing Crimea.
Back then, I hardly knew a thing about geopolitics, let alone the influence of military affairs on politics in general. Your site opened my eyes to the subject and now it has become my favorite area of study. I have been a daily reader since then (2014) and I intend to continue.
This site really is such fantastic resource, especially at a moment like this in history. I have no doubt it will continue to grow.
Any successful relationship, whether its is between a husband and wife, parent and child business and customer, state and citizenry, etc., is dependent upon 3 interdependent attributes; trust, loyalty, and respect. If you lose trust your lose respect; if you lose respect your lose loyalty; if you lose loyalty your lose trust. It is a shame so few recognize this fact. I would say your blog is successful because you respect your readers, gaining loyalty and trust.
Vas pozdravlyayu, Dorogoy Andrey! Bol’shoye spasibo za otlichnuyu rabotu! I visit your site everyday and learn a great deal from you and your guest writers. The Saker Blog is one of a very small number of sources that I trust for thoughtful, truthful information and analyses of global events. Your work is an antidote to the insipid propaganda and pseudo-journalism that comprises the continuous stream of garbage emanating from the legacy ziomedia. Best wishes for health and happiness to you and your family.

Congratulations, dear Andrey! Thanks a lot for the great work!
May there be peace throughout the world.
Congratulations, Andrei. Very well deserved.
Success, best wishes, health and happiness, Honorable Saker. You’re number one in my book.
@ Saker
“The Saker blog and its ranking compared to others :-)”
Congratulations, Saker!

Saker, to make your website even stronger, you may want to consider allowing a wider political spectrum in the comments section (that’s always good), and especially it would enrich the interaction between host and readership if now and then you posted the best of their comment(s) in your “latest articles” section. I read knowledgeable comments here, but this feature would not be so much based on “expertise” as in a homey interaction between the host and his readership. Maybe you would have your readership wondering whose comment might get posted as an article next time.
Congratulations! truly you are making an impact far beyond your numbers. It has been very educational to read your blog and your introduction of people like Michael Hudson, Andrei Martyanov, and Michael Hoffman has been valuable. Well done.
congratulations: I for one don’t find anything surprising in your blog because I know its mostly true and sincere and unbiased; I frequently get refreshed to know that even in the west there are honest observers like you very refreshing because being an Afghan I first hand know the evil and the lie the west is. So any true and honest words coming from them are precious indeed. Keep it up
To the Saker
Dear Mr. A. Raevsky
Your blog is amongst the most informative in geopolitical and strategic issues sites. Congratulations from Athens, Greece.
I only trust TheSaker, Grayzone, STALKERzone and that’s about it tbh.
a certain ‘banned’ one has questionable donations where they clearly don’t make enough money to live and yet, every month they a still alive.
Cudos, Andrei for this mesmerizing site!
Quick glmpse on the table suggests that, by the time visitors are the pages, Vineyard should be placed quite a few places upper on the table.
Big thanks to wonderfull Amarinth and Herb.
Well for what it’s worth, I did a check on Ahrefs.com, which is the most popular tool used by web designers and Search Engine Optimization people.
These are stats for the World Socialist Website, which ranks slightly above thesaker.is in terms of pages and in roughly similar content….yeah, roughly, but it’s not Stormfront. At least its anti imperialist.
World Socialist Website 2,004,000 1,200,000 27,667 75 1:23 1.67
The Vineyard of the Saker 1,712,551 774,910 39,391 46 3:03 2.21
People spend a lot more time on thesaker per view 3:03 than wsws.org. 1.23
The odd thing is that from a search point of view, it shows that World Socialist Website gets 4 times more traffic but people spend a lot less time there than they do on your site. And its ‘Domain Authority’ is 76, pretty high, vs thesaker, DR 54, which is fairly good, but not 93 like CNN.
I attribute this to the more intellectual in depth content here, along with careful moderation of comments.
As you say, higher quality of audience than many similar sites.
wsws.org
Ahrefs Rank
26,163 UR 42 DR 76 Backlinks 19.7M Live 17.6M
Organic traffic 83.6K Traffic value $9.2K
Compare with thesaker.is
Ahrefs Rank
431,282 UR 47 DR 54 Organic Traffic 18.7K Traffic value $8.8K
What is sad to see is that the top sites in terms of hours are The Daily Caller, The National Review, and The Daily Stormer all of which are Anti Russia. Most Americans are brainwashed by those sites. But we knew that anyway.
Truth is an orphan.
I check WSWS regularly but, let’s face it folks, it doesn’t take long to read its content. You always get a few paragraphs of real news, of course from the Trotskyist perspective, with endings that are more or less interchangeable from article to article: rote appeals to worker solidarity and the Fourth International.
As for this site, well, there are some things I don’t identify with (I’m not religious, for starters), but the quality of thought is superb, and the moderation impresses me as sensible and sensitive.
Thank you for all these very interesting details which I was totally unaware of!!
Kind regards
Congrats!! You deserve that Fame. Go on like this. Cheers!!
Congrats Andrei. Pleasant news of course also for all your readers including myself.
Aside from other things you already mentioned, for me personally the rss-feed is an important factor why I more often read articles from you/your blog than from strategic-culture, consortiumnews.com or Duran: in your feed I can see at a glance who the author is (I prefer your articles over the other’s by far). On strategic culture you have to open the pages to see who the author is (my favorite is Alastair Crooke), consortiumnews.com doesn’t have a feed at all (my favorite is Ray McGovern) and on Duran for me the only worthwhile author is Alexander Mercouris.
Your judgement of the “vaccine”-issues certainly doesn’t mean that you are dishonest or insincere and is something you share with other shrewd people like Bernhard from MoA or Ron Unz (authors’ names in the articles’ titles with the latter, by the way).
I wish you the best for the future, first and foremost a good health
Andrei,
What a wonderful and well deserved recognition and affirmation!
I don’t remember how I found you, but I am truly blessed and grateful.
But I am not surprised.
Your heart and soul shine through and as they say, like attracts like….
Your sober and thorough analysis (and humour!) is amplified by so many that come here.
May you and those you care for know every blessing and may sorrow never darken your doors.
With Gratitude,
Blessings to All
L
Congratulations to everybody!
Indeed I noted that it was difficult to find the website by search engine, but who cares. Our age is the age of the lie, but many still like more the truth, and everyone seeking the truth can only appreciate the Saker efforts. Your analysis could be mistaken, but it is evident that they are aiming to the truth. However, apparently often, they also prove to be correct, so… go ahead!
Your blog provides excellent analysis and I often check to verify authenticity of news and for analysis pertaining to geopolitical developments.
Shrikant Modak
Well done!
Showers of blessings from Sweden!

@Saker the numbers are from SimilarWeb, a 3rd party traffic estimation agency. I run a SEO agency myself as one of my businesses, and generally their numbers are fairly reliable (though sometimes they can differ from real ones as provided by G Analytics or similar on-site counters by a factor of 0.5..2). comparing Similarweb numbers between different sites is almost always objective, though.
you can check them all out for yourself if you install the free Chrome/Firefox Similarweb extension.
BTW, Andrei Martyanov blog’s numbers are: 662k monthly visits, 43% bounce, 02:35 avg visit. which is only slightly less than thesaker.is.

I will let him know ASAP!
It is super deserved :-)
thanks!
That is brilliant.
Congratulations!
FWIW, I have been reading the Saker for 7 years now. I discovered the site while searching (in Google back then) for relevant info on the Ukraine after 2014 and my feeling the “news” were mostly nonsense.
My knowledge on geopolitics and other topics (irrelevant in this agora, yet inmensely superior to that of all my acquaintances) has increased by several orders of magnitude since then.
I can only say, THANK YOU, for sharing it (and to most regular commentators, which are remarkably insightful and thought-provoking, unlike in most other blogs or websites).
I forward the posts regularly to my acquaintances, yet as they are mostly from the EU, they are busy in the competition between narcissim and nihilism. Still better than nothing, I guess.
Congratulations. Afterthought: “angry divorcees” writing bitter letters….There is something almost touching about that 😀They seem not to be able to let go of you, behaving like shunned ex lover would…..So even those guys might one day repent and return to Saker community…
Anway, keep up the good work.
The Saker has been banned from reddit, every link is automatically removed
What we have here are the military pranksters, who are very short on patience, and very long on ego, the upper ranks are classic Booker T.
I have remarked on that up above. There are, I believe, 15 sites on this list that are hard banned on Reddit.
Dear Saker,
Being one of your daily reader since 2014, and being admitted to contribute with my astrological adds, I feel highly honored, to do it in such a qualified environment.
Yet in the days of ‘Arabian spring’ I was swaying in the waves of colored ‘revolutions’ – that ended
in your Vineyard. Your side is preparing the rational and the poetry of the coming times.
Thank You for your work and honesty, and God bless you, your family, and community.
mundanomaniac
Ps.: kudos to amarynth and larchmonter
Mashallah, alhamdulillah, Allahu akbar. Congratulations brother. May God almighty bless you and this community🤲
And trust Vladimir Putin, he deserves it!
CONGRATULATIONS!
The Saker, and his team earned this position through years of hardwork and propensity for quality.
During (around) 12 years of association as commenter (and later, contributor) I never found The Saker shifting it’s standpoint – primacy of truth and justice in public life.
Best wishes for even better performance in future!
Apart from the technical problems (which I am going to bring up at every opportunity, yes!), such as repeated 403 errors when accessing thesaker.is from Tor, I find thesaker.is to be rather good. Not all posts are interesting, but they don’t have to be.
MoonOfAlabama is excellent, and I heartily recommend it. Nuff said.
TheDuran was more-or-less OK for a while, but then turned into some kind of clickbait fest, and also started to post a lot of videos (i.e. something you CAN NOT READ), and eventually I stopped going there, since they didn’t seem to have much in the way of original content anyway.
RussiaInsider was an interesting read for a while (lots of trash, but also some interesting posts from time to time), but then it got really bad really quickly. I think right now it’s not even being updated (last time I checked, all the posts were from their archive).
Strategic Culture is like a blog equivalent of a one-trick pony. I eventually realized that I don’t need to read both SC and Saker, it’s redundant. I still look through the titles of the articles they post, but rarely read any of them. Also, they are ultra-conservative, in my opinion.
I read the Saker everyday including most of the comments. I gives an overviuw of the trends around the world.
Long time reader, first time commenter: your work and the work of your contributors is true sustenance in these times. Thank you, Andrei, and all who contribute to the Saker project (including many great commenters). I’m glad that you (and we) now have this quantitative feedback to provide a clearer sense of the impact of this important work. All the best – SLH, Newfoundland, Canada
Glad for your success. I’ve been following your site for a long time and I’d like to thank you for your honesty, your courage and your constancy. Aziz, a Tunisian 🇹🇳faithful reader.
Bravo et bonne continuation.
@Saker
I know you might not like this but I want to make this suggestion.
Why don’t you start a YouTube channel to disseminate the well grounded views that you share on this blog.
I’ve seen that many channels that are openly Russophobic and Sinophobic have been successful on YT just because they make colorful, attractive presentations. I believe that with a minimum degree of video editing work, you can also touch a larger audience.
There are many people who read less but nonetheless are interested in world affairs. Also, I’m sure that you could find many supporters on this blog who would be willing to help you create quality videos.
Nice numbers! Not quite gold, but sterling for sure under the circumstances and thanks for the sweet comments.
A few comments about decisions taken throughout the years.
I have my most favorite and best decision that was taken, and that was to stop discussions on the medical aspects of Covid. For the Saker Blog, it was the right decision even now in hindsight. We opened a small thread on the community site, and there we have information of what is new and what is important as people feel to update. It is not moderated, but we keep the messianic, the atrocity propaganda, virtue signaling, and smug and condescending out of there while being completely up to date with the important things. It is a simple rule .. You Fight, You’re out! I have to say thanks to my few colleagues for putting their information there. I would say those threads make a superb and quality history of the last 2 years and I’m heading there now to update.
In contrast with that, I think one of the worst decisions that we simply could not do, was the intended ‘Covid Special Area’ about two years ago. We could not do that with our resources at the time.
The other major decision was when The Saker gave me permission to have a higher China profile on the blog and we started with sitreps, working to bigger analyses. We’ve made excellent friends from China and from Chinese people, the pieces are being regularly cross-posted and it is only limited by my own time to devote to writing. Just recently I concluded that China is indeed our engine for an economic recovery in the world, for those that want to pay heed to the mechanisms. Watch what happens economically around the Olympics!
I’ve been here for + 5 years now. I cannot quite find the correspondence as to how it started, but it is + 5 years or so. I published 4 books, rescued 2 more, ran an online bookstore to sell these, shipped books to something like 128 countries against an insane sanctions regime background, and they are now still all available for free download, besides putting countless hours into the blog. (My boss has a day job and it is my job to save his time).
The one thing that always just amazes me around the Saker blog, is the massive number of people, organizations, and groups with goodwill towards us. There never is a time where I have to struggle for information because somebody in this wide grouping, no doubt, is an expert. Wanna know about ships and planes, no problem, contact Nat. Wanna know about real Islam, no problem, I have people to contact and ask. Wanna know about Yemen, the forgotten war, I can just ask. Economics, no biggy, just ask Michael Hudson. We truly stand on a strong bank of expertise in different areas.
Many things are par for the course. We’ll work through state department bans of many of our friends, take the bitter divorce letters, yeah, I get them too and usually accompanied by quite horrible attacks where I have to put my crocodile skin suit on and sometimes the boxing gloves.
So, we will continue for as long as possible, firstly as joint peacemakers.
And then also, take the sweet of some success. Yeah! (Now I’m going for gold!)
Bless you for your efforts! It can’t be easy, I’m sure, but what you do (to use a borrowed expression) is a “Mitzvah”, in the true sense of that word (and in the spirit in which it was originally coined…).
I have been reading the Saker for many years, and it is indispensable in terms of opening my mind to another perspective.
I was surprised to see it above Quillette – but also happy for you!!!
Saker, I met this blog a few years ago and since then I accompany it every day, with a deep feeling of gratitude and admiration. I often say that what is good does not need advertising, the quality speaks for itself. Sometimes, when I allow myself to participate, I write some comments (using an automatic translator) in an attempt to contribute to the debate. Deep down, these ideas are the result of what I learn here. Congratulations on the achievements and much success in the future. In addition to the value of your analyzes, you are an upright person and this behavior stands as an example for the humanity we want. Greetings!
I am not astonished in the slightest at this result. I have come here for years, and typically read most words written here because it has a perspective that proves out and that has made me consider alternative sources of data. In any case well done. I am here to read for a well considered reason.
As a data scientist, I would note that you maybe should have given more attention to the bounce percentage which would have rated you higher. What good are more views if what they do is immediately look at something else.
I would note that you maybe should have given more attention to the bounce percentage which would have rated you higher. What good are more views if what they do is immediately look at something else.
Good point! But, as I admitted, I really don’t care much about my actual rating, I was just amazed at the much more established websites we out-ranked.
Also, I have neither the time nor energy to make another table focusing on bounce rates.
Question: if this table was bounce rate based, what ranking in your opinion would it have given us?
(only if you have the time and inclination, we are all busy, and this is not important, I am just curious)
Kind regards
Andrei
In terms of quality, many of these are apples to oranges comparisons
For analysis: saker and ‘moon of alabama’ do actual analysis and both are excellent, ‘Reminiscence of the Future’ would also fit this category were it on the list (Andrei doesn’t care or know about self-promotion :-)).
For news: antiwar is an honest broker of news my favorite website. It’s an antidote to someone who gets their headlines about Iran from from FOX, CNN or the MSM.
For opinion: Then their are the opinion websites which are most of the rest, national review is the ‘let’s go to war w/everyone’ champion.
For investigative reporting special mention to the ‘grayzone’. I’d put them in this category for their in depth investigation into U.S. meddling into Latin America. This blurs the line w/analysis but I’d say they stay in this lane although I’d agree that MoA does investigative reporting. MoA has accused them of plagiarism and has a grudge w/them. I refuse to pick sides. The world would be a better place if the U.S. public read either or both websites :-)
Dear Saker,
Congratulations for your work and for the resulting ratings and audience.
About measuring ratings, I wonder something.
I rarely visit your site by myself : I use RSS aggregators both on smartphone and PC browser. I receive most of your publications there, and read or watch most of them.
I wonder if the pages aggregator-picked are counted as visits, or if they are a part of your uncharted part audience.
Congratulation again, and thank you.
If Saker articeles are being Re-Printed in Russia, you deserve to smoke smoke a pipe or a Cuban cigar. Congratulations.
The credit (and my gratitude) goes entirely to those fellow Russians who spontaneously decide to make such translations. I owe it all to them :-)
I don’t know if he smokes, and if so how frequently. We wouldn’t want to negatively affect his health, would we?
I don’t smoke, but I get the message and I am grateful for it
Andrei
Dear Saker,
I’ve never commented before, even though I’ve read your blog for probably 5-6 years.
I just wanted to say a big THANK you for all the time, love, energy, and wisdom you’ve poured through your keyboard into the world.
I haven’t always agreed with you (vaccines :) ), but I respect your values, integrity, and commitment to telling the truth as you see it enough you did not loose a reader over it!
I grew up in a traditional conservative/republican home in the US, and you’ve helped open my eyes to see the my country and the world so much more accurately. Thank you!
Finally, I want to say, “Blessed are the peacemakers…” Through your long efforts on this blog, you’ve done your small (or not so small!) part in the world to promote peace. May you be blessed!
Dear Matt
Thank you for your very kind and warm words of support.
I hope to live up to being a peacemaker, if only on the margins and in my small way.
Please keep me in your prayers!
Kind regards
Andrei
What the table tells me is that people want alternative sources of news and opinion. In terms of my own reading, I read the headlines of main stream media, look for “message of the day propaganda patterns”, and then consult some of these blogs including Saker to get some insight. Problem is that many people go to the likes of Joe Rogan for information. I don’t listen to him as after watching a few of his clips on YouTube, the guy is a real Russophobe repeating proganada talking points against Putin and Russians.
Congrats! Funnily enough, I made almost the same observations as Andrei upon seeing Ron’s note.
One question: what is the nature of the issue(s) with Antiwar? Not meaning to restart any disputes, just honestly curious (there may be life lessons there). Feel free to ignore.
/reflections-on-the-antiwar-com-debacle/
Cheers
Andrei
Thanks for your informative reply, Andrei.
Congratulations Saker and team as all the hard work and dedication is starting to payoff!
The site has become my go-to for daily updates with excellent articles, news and analysis covering key geopolitical, cultural and spiritual subjects dear to my heart.
I thank all the contributors and followers who continue to make this such a wonderful and welcoming place to share ideas and differing views.
May 2022 bring continued success with prays for peace and good health!!!
Daily stormer is not anti russia.
I read it regularly because it aggregates some world news i can’t easily get.
i am not white nor christian. In fact, the host uses unsavory words against every group including neocons, baptists, white right wingers anyway.
In the current stiffled situation, I find the site invaluable to understand what is happening in the west.
But the site probably has no value if you are already in the west.
Congratulations! [And great move to perform a ‘jujutsu’ on the Ron Unz’s drama post!]
Frankly, I am astonished that there are still so many major independent news blogs. 10 years ago, it was like 2,000. Who needs 70 branches of Cola or Pepsi? 70 is far too many.
I suspect there will be:
a) more bankruptcies (Tom Dispatch, Red Ice…)
b) more consolidation (mergers or reader-sharing)
c) more insane competition (backdoor deals, marketing, podcast hype…)
Frankly, I understood the drama post from Ron Unz as a declaration of war. He expands into video and vlogging, and he wants to cover ALL NICHES (Rona, Celebrities, Russia, China, Conspiracy). Is this his Joe Rogan moment?
Just saying, Unz is going to use every means possible to stifle competitors. The market seems saturated.
That’s because the readers of those 70 websites listed are vastly overlapping. I saw Pepe Escobar‘s articles cross-posted on Asia Times, Unz Review and Vineyard Saker.
Andrew Anglin, too, cross-posts on Unz Review and Daily Stormer.
And even the bosses of VDare and American Renaissance are cross-posting on Unz, recognizing they are stuck.
Which tells me that there isn‘t more growth potential except… consolidation and sharing readers.
I can recommend this book – ‘Unfair Advantage’. Just google it. It is good. And if you don’t… others will.
The Saker must prevail.
Best!
Thank you Saker for your wonderful site.
Greetings from tiny Singapore 🇸🇬
congrats!
Hi, Saker, congratulations! Well deserved.
6-7 years ago, when I found your site, I was astonished with the quality. Since then, I read it every day. Many, many thanks. You and your team are doing an extraordinary job. Only recently I decided to write my own views, occasionally. Thanks for publishing them. I wish you continued success.
Congratulations. Your voice is very important for people to understand what is at stake in this fake world. I’m French, I love Russia and I’m fed up with the antirussian doxa of the UE. And with the UE too. I hope this dangerous and mad entity sold to the Empire will collapse soon to build another Europe. You’re a light in the darkness. Take care.
