The Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s main intelligence directorate terror plot foiled in Crimea August 2016 SITREP
I will keep updating this post over the next couple of days.
I have a large amount of information mostly in Russian, that’s why it takes me long time to translate.
Please, keep checking back for updates.
How it’s all started
A shootout took place on Crimean border early on Saturday August 7th
The shooting took place in the area of the Isthmus of Perekop, the narrow, 5–7 kilometers wide strip of land that connects the Crimean Peninsula to the Ukraine. The shootout occurred early in the morning on the border of Russia and Ukraine in Krasnoperekopsk district of Crimea. As a result of the incident one border guard was killed, three others got wounded. The victims were taken to a local hospital.
The Colonel Cassad had just posted an image of an announcement made by the administration of the town of Novo-Krymsk
The announcement initially had an image of a note that said:
“Important Announcement
According to the information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a severe crime was committed on the territory of Armyansk. In connection with this crime, the law enforcement is looking for four individuals wearing Russia’s khaki colored general armed forces uniform with a diamond shaped chevron on the left sleeve with the flag of the Russian Federation. They could be on a move using motorized vehicles or on foot.
All of them have Slavic appearance. A description of two of them:
180-195 centimeters tall, with athletic body type and blonde hair. Approximately 30-35 years old.
All these individuals are heavily armed with fire arms. Report them to your local law enforcement, or your local civil authorities.”
What was reported on August 8, via the Russian blogosphere:
- The FSB in Crimea received information that near Armyansk was found a cache of explosives. The operative group went to the scene.2. When the FSB group arrived in the designated place, they found a group of 20 heavily armed men engaged in loading explosives from an underground dugout onto their vehicles. These men immediately opened fire on the task force.3. A fight ensued during which one officer was killed. Then the FSB called for reinforcement from the military. During the clashes, the enemy acted quite competently.4. In the ensuing battle, an unidentified group broke up. 14 or 15 people moved by water (water is knee deep for 3 kilometers) and dragged along with them 1 200x, and unknown number of 300x ) onto the Ukrainian territory. At this time, armored vehicles came into water on the Ukrainian side, and provided fire support for the terrorists group.5. On our side, there was another one 200x and one 300x. 4 people from the group remained in the Crimea and now the manhunt is underway, that’s why newspapers published a photo robot and the announcements. It looks like this operation is called the “Fortress”.6. A cache of up to 500 kilograms of explosives (not just TNT explosives) was seized. Now there is a search for 4(5) people. The order is to apprehend them alive. That’s explains why we had so many killed and wounded. There is a possibility that they might be able to withdraw from Crimea, or lay low somewhere.
On August 8th, as soon as the rumors about the shooting reached the Ukrainian side, the state border service of Ukraine announced the temporary suspension of admission of people and vehicles through all three checkpoints on the border with Crimea on Sunday. According to the statement, such measures taken in response to actions of the Russian side allegedly suspended similar operations. “That’s why moving from mainland Ukraine at the checkpoint “Kalanchak”, “Chaplynka” and “Chongar” on the territory of the Crimea is also not possible,” stated a press release.
When people, who were waiting at the checkpoints to get to Crimea, heard that checkpoints were closing, they started to run across the border.
August 8th, the day when border control closed and people were running across the border from Ukraine to Crimea
On the border of Ukraine with Crimea there are three car checkpoint: “Kalanchak” (on the Russian side, “Armenian”), “Chaplynka” (“Perekop and Chongar” (Dzhankoy).
In July, the Crimean border Department of the FSB of Russia accused their Ukrainian colleagues in slowness. Since the Ukrainian side was too slow, the Russian checkpoint “Dzhankoi” experienced long traffic queues.
Immediately after the shootout, the Ukrainian side started spreading rumors alleging concentration of Russian military equipment on the border and military control of the border crossings. There was no actual evidence to support these rumors, at the time.
Movements of military equipment took place in Ukraine: the accumulation of military equipment of Ukraine and NATO troops in the Kherson region (perhaps with the aim of transfer them to the Mariupol direction through Berdyansk. It is possible to strengthen the group in the South of Kherson region).
According to the observation of Colonel Cassad, on our side, contrary to the West spread rumors, people observed the moving columns of armored vehicles across the Kerch Strait to Russian mainland, which disproves the Ukrainian rumors that Russia is amassing troops in Crimea. Considering that the concentration of the troops of the Russian Federation in the Northern Crimea surpasses everything that Ukraine has concentrated in the Kherson region.
On August 8, the News Front reported that it was the staged provocation of the Ukraine
“Ukraine staged a provocation on the border with Crimea. This was announced by the head of news Agency News Front Konstantin Knyrik on his page in facebook.
“Enough with the rumors. Yes indeed, last night in Armyansk was a provocation by the Ukrainian saboteurs, trying to break on the Crimean territory. After that the Ukrainian side unilaterally closed the pass on the border for more than 1,500 people. The Ukrainian border guards didn’t let people to pass , but they say that the Russian side had closed the pass,” wrote Konstantin Knarik.
He added that there is no proof of “the break through on the territory of a Sabotage and Reconnaissance groups (DRG) nowhere there is no proof, about the victims on the part of our guards, too, but the fact of provocation from the Ukrainian side took place. That’s all for now…”
On August 10th, the FSB announced that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented terrorist attacks in Crimea that were planned by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s intelligence agency.
The FSB announcement
Press Release
Translated by Kristina Kharlova
“FSB prevented terrorist acts in Republic of Crimea prepared by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
The Federal security service of Russian Federation prevented terrorist acts in Republic of Crimea prepared by the Main intelligence department of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine, targeting critical elements of infrastructure and life support of the peninsula.
The purpose of sabotage and terrorist acts was to destabilize the socio-political situation in the region during the period of preparation and the process of elections of federal and regional authorities.
As a result of the investigation activities on the night of 6th to 7th August 2016 near the city of Armyansk, Republic of Crimea, a group of saboteurs was discovered. During the arrest of terrorists an employee of FSB of Russia was killed in a firefight. On the site of the clashes the following evidence was found: 20 improvised explosive devices with total capacity of more than 40 kilograms of TNT, ammunition and special means of initiation, regular antipersonnel and magnetic mines as well as grenades and special weapons used by special units of the armed forces of Ukraine.
Measures were taken on the territory of Crimean peninsula to liquidate a network of agents of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Armed forces of Ukraine. Detained persons were citizens of Ukraine and Russian Federation, assisting in the preparation of terrorist acts, who had confessed. One of the organizers of the prevented acts of terrorism is Panov Evgeniy Aleksandrovich, 1977 year of birth, the inhabitant of the Zaporozhye region, the employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine, who was detained and has confessed.
On the night of the 8th of August 2016 special forces of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out two attempts of a breakthrough by sabotage and terrorist groups, which were prevented by law enforcement units of the Russian FSB and other involved agencies. Breakthrough was attempted under the cover of a massive attack from the neighboring state [Ukraine – FR] involving armored vehicles of Ukrainian armed forces. During the firefight, a soldier of the Defense Ministry of Russian Federation was killed.
Based on the results of the investigative and combat operations, the investigative department of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol opened a criminal case. Additional operational activities and investigation are conducted.
Additional security measures were taken in places of public gatherings and recreation, and also for the protection of critical infrastructure. Security at the border with Ukraine has been strengthened.”
FSB released video
The same day, during the press conference with the President of Armenia, President Putin said:
“I think it’s obvious that Kiev’s current authorities are not seeking ways to solve problems through negotiations, but have turned to terrorism.”
Putin also named the Lugansk people’s republic by its full name and without obligatory “self-proclaimed.”
He also called an attempt on the life of the head of LPR, Plotnitsky, an act of terror.
No more “Petr Alexeevich” or “Ukrainian president.” Now on, when writing about Ukraine everyone should use “current Kiev’s authorities.”

Russia: Ukrainian detainee Ridvan Suleymanov tells of alleged plan to bomb Simferopol airport
Published on Aug 12, 2016
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested a Ukrainian man in Simferopol, Friday, on suspicion of organising planned terrorist attacks on the territory of Crimea. The suspect was identified as Ridvan Suleymanov, a resident of the Zaporozhye region in southern Ukraine, who was allegedly recruited by the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence in October 2015.
SOT, Ridvan Suleymanov, alleged agent of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence (Russian): “I went to Simferopol airport on July 30 where I contacted Pavel Nikolaevich and informed him that I was in position and had successfully planted the bomb. He texted me an ‘+’ which meant that I should wait until they contacted me with a conference call with the police.
I walked around, waited and then they phoned me. During the conference call I heard something that shocked me: ‘I’m Amir Karimov. Today other brothers and I are turning from a small to a big jihad. Promptly at 12 o’clock we will blow up the central airport of the city of Simferopol and also the central bus stations of Simferopol, Yalta and Sevastopol and the Kerch Strait ferry line.’
After that I went directly to the airport to monitor the reaction of law enforcement agencies. I took five photos and sent them to him through the ‘Line’ app. After that I was arrested by the law enforcement agency.”

Thanks for the sitrep…
It seems a few more parents and relatives will be forced into mourning, from both sides. A military escalation would just add to the misery. My heartfelt condolences. They should instead be enjoying the warm days of summer…
What kind of asymmetric, non-violent response can Russia do to influence the decision-makers of this fiasco?
This confrontation takes attention away from the Rio Olympic games. It is almost becoming a tradition to launch military operations with the opening ceremonies…
With the border crossings closed, more Ukrainians will be blocked from their summer homes and vacations. It looks like a way to forcibly devalue Crimean real estate. Are there any big changes in the number of transactions and what is happening to market prices?
The Security Council was a closed session giving Russia the opportunity to present some “inconvenient truths” to the various governments there. If the Russian intelligence figured out the timing of the Turkish coup, you can bet they know where the trail leads back to on this and whose hands are dirtiest.
for emphasis: the elections are in September.
“The purpose of sabotage and terrorist acts was to destabilize the socio-political situation in the region during the period of preparation and the process of elections of federal and regional authorities.”
Excellent Sitrep – thank god they stopped this terrorism before they had s chance to place the bombs.
Ukraine are beyond saving – that they would think that they could get away with this type of action
Might be a bit off-topic, but it involves USUkraine so I’m posting this here. From Strelkov’s VK page today (google translation):
‘Urgent message from the head of DNR Alexander Zakharchenko.
“We are preparing shelters and air raid shelters and in the near future, we expect the onset of the Ukrainian army, considered three hits direction, but the information about where it is and when they will strike, no. Therefore, our militia prepared on all fronts. Units of forces are in full combat availability. If necessary, we are ready to evacuate residents of frontline villages. Plans for the evacuation of residents from the war zone already exists. we passed it in the 2014-2015 year and have extensive experience in the evacuation of civilians, so it is able to carry out clearly and without panic. After the resumption of fighting the decision to evacuate will be based on the prevailing conditions. today in Donetsk readiness shown about 70% of air-raid shelters. Uzheri day goes revision of all shelters. alerting shelters that for one reason or another have been started. the number of shelters in Donetsk is not designed for living in a city of people. In this connection, it was decided to convert the bomb shelter under the basements of houses and office buildings that will provide an opportunity to get another 150-170 more shelters.”‘
However, I still think that kiev won’t attack, that is, being able to do a large offensive to seize its objectives, because a) it will be discovered and countered b) it won’t get far before being stopped.
Nevertheless, I think it’s wise for Zach to take whatever precautions he thinks is necessary.
Ralph, how can you mind to read Strelkov’s VK page?
You forgot Professor Scott’s words that he is a western agent provocateur, haha?
It’s called using discernment.
I don’t agree with Strelkov’s pessimism, in which he has often been proven wrong; however that does not mean he doesn’t publish some worthwhile stuff.
He isn’t a Western agent anymore than Trump is a Russian agent. Strelkov is an old time Russian nationalist. His writings and speeches reek of that. But he doesn’t trust Putin (regardless of what some want to believe, many Russian “nationalists” don’t),and that is his sin to many people. But since no one want’s to admit that, its needed to invent another reason. So far,I trust Putin. But that doesn’t mean I’m not aware of the complaints some have (and agree with some of them).Basically,Russian nationalists are split into many small groups. Most support Putin “overall”,though they may not support all his policies, nor trust him completely. A few hate him,but they are a small minority, Strelkov comes in the first category.
I think we will have a thick and heavy autumn this year. Has this incident something to do with the replacement of Sergej Ivanov ?
Wow! The op had 20 participants and only 4 were captured, plus fire support from regular UA units, or were they some Right Sector affiliate–the narrative implies regular UA forces. No report of Russia returning fire across border into Ukraine; what do current rules of engagement say? Really want to discover what Power said behind those closed doors at the UNSC.
The rest it sounded like, recrossed the border into Ukraine to escape. Depending on how many were involved .Some reports said they were looking for 5,but captured 4.So either the number was wrong. Or they are still hunting one more.Hopefully they can “persuade” those captured to fill them in on how many there might be. And if there are more inside Crimea to arrest.
“The rest it sounded like, recrossed the border into Ukraine to escape.”
That’s why I asked about the rules of engagement. Imperial forces would certainly claim “hot pursuit” and cross the border. It would be cool to know what sort of radio intercepts were gathered to determine just how deep the planning was.
“August 12, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said earlier on Friday that he does not rule out that diplomatic relations with Ukraine could be severed”
If this happens (which I hope for),it could/should lead the way to Russia recognizing a “government in exile” for Ukraine. Which is the “legal” under international law ,way to support a movement to oust the “maidan criminals” and free Ukraine. Its really quite simple to do. Recognize members of the government illegally overthrown during the junta coup. And expand it to a “popular front” of all anti-fascist elements in Ukraine. They already have available a fighting force in the NAF in Donbass. It shouldn’t be “too” hard for Russia to convince them to serve in a restored “non-fascist” Ukrainian military force.Once Ukraine is freed ( Federalized and united in alliance with Russia),they can talk of economic, and probably, a political union in the future with the Eurasian Union.
I agree with you about ‘government in exile’, this was well overdue. This would be a great move on Russian side and would certainly do some internal damage to junta.
Thank you Scott.
I have a query in reagrd to one of your first paragraphs:
“In connection with this crime, the law enforcement is looking for four individuals wearing Russia’s khaki colored general armed forces uniform with a diamond shaped chevron on the left sleeve with the flag of the Russian Federation.”
Does this mean that the Ukies/NATO have Russian army uniforms and can therefore pretend to be Russians in Ukraine or Crimea and therefore blame the Russians for all their terror attacks? How did they get the uniforms? Are some of the Ukies who stayed in Crimea – fake? Can the Russians add something to their uniforms going forward to distinguish?
I found this part of the report very worrying…..not only are they sabouteurs – but dressing in Russian uniforms…….
They were willing to kill to escape – sounds like that ex CIA guy who only said the other day – lets kill the Russians covertly……funny the timing…

Veritas
“Does this mean that the Ukies/NATO have Russian army uniforms and can therefore pretend to be Russians”
This was the initial eyewitness reports. They used old Russian uniforms that are no longer in service. Russian military doesn’t use the diamond (rhomb) shaped chevrons with flags, any longer.
The initial official Kiev reaction was that “it was the Russian armed forces fighting with the FSB.”
That’s why they had the “Russian uniforms,” to stage this false flag “battle.”
It’s a typical CIA psyop.
There are rumors that one of the killed terrorist was a Canadian.
more to come
Thanks Scott.
Yes its typical CIA. I look forward to the updates on the nationalities – the description sounded like “NATO” personnel……
please, let me know where I can find info. because I will raise the issue with my PM.
lsammart
So far, it’s just people on the social media referring to some unidentifiable local sources.
I will let you know, if I find something credible.
Scott, I just want to send my personal sympathies for the two Russian personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. So sorry that the nation I live in (Canada) played such a central role in this coup in Ukraine.
Are their any journalists out there?? If anyone wants to try asking Canada’s National Defence Minister (Harjit Sajjan) about Canadian involvement in Ukraine, then you can on Monday, 1 PM Eastern daylight time by teleconference.
Details here:
http://news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?mthd=index&crtr.page=1&nid=1111039
There are journalists, but their job is to hold onto their lucrative and prestigious jobs by going along to get along. They won’t be asking any questions that would displease the Ukrainians in Canada and the politicians who pander to them in exchange for their vote. The received wisdom among uninformed and complacent journos in Canada is that “Russia is bad”, and stating in various ways will get you an easy pat on the back. I don’t think there any with the imagination or motivation to question that/
Totally agree with your description of Western journalists. I do have a question about the power of the Ukrainian Canadian lobby. Is this true? The same Cdn govt who fully supported and participated in the coup in Ukraine, also did the same in Honduras a few years prior. No one suggests the Honduran lobby has any influence in Canada (although mining companies with Honduran interests seem to).
Check out short article tass 894046 today re Panovs employer in ukr intelligence…………btw, rus and serbian miltary today discussing cooperation……..
Scott, thank you for this very informative sitrep and all your work and time it takes to translate this all for us. You are a true hero.
Was reported today that Russia has put S-400 in Crimea; I said elsewhere months ago (not sure if it was here on Saker’s site) that I expected Putin to have ordered S-400 north and south of the DPR/LPR – saw another report of kiev landing some of its jets on a road, they need to be shot down soonest if used against the Republics.
Huzzah…..been waiting….looking forward to more updates……..how on earth can ukr and poro be in denial, because the ukr forces went to the cache of bombs etc that they already had known about as they were planted by them about two years ago!!!!!Clearly this was a much more high level atempt compared with medjlis partial successes only carried out on ukr territory….this might put them off and will Vp be able to persuade Erdogan to drop his support for these and or poro?
One wonders a little bit if the cache was known about by Crimea who were waiting to see who turned up to use them so they could find out if there are more.
Presumably ukr has still not “acepted” the replacement Rus Ambassador to ukr, so this is a perfect excuse to break of diplomaytic relations especially as coupla months ago rada was considering so the “intention is already there)? a bill to break off relations anyways…….and also as we know ukr is expanding its armaments manufacturing, together with nato weaponry still being sent with training(for what reason do they need drones and sniper rifles one cynically asks)……one wonders if there was any awarenes or ” control” or known monitoring from the sea breezes forces, presumably rus is continually monitoring radio traffic etc …..sooner they finish rebuilding that big radar? station at Sevastopol the better……..has the Crimean concerns or “petition” to U N to get ukr removed from unsc and OSCE made any progress……….certainly silence from the “twins of nothingness” Merkel and Hollande….
cheers scot, thanks very much.
ever since krim’s reintegration , i maintained it is was the safest, best guarded area of the federation.

I don’t understand why Putin puts him in such easy ‘blackmail’ position with his love for giants sports events?
Very easy after to be blackmailed by the usual suspects.
Sotchi is maybe a success as a resort station, but the price was very high..the Coup in Kiev and all the loss(of lifes in the Donbass, refugees, sanctions of all kinds, oil and ruble crisis etc).
The world cup would be moved to the UK(according to some papers) which has the stadiums ready etc…no need for investments at all.
And a new humiliation in sight.
Forget also about the newt winter olympics for the RF athletes…it may seems not important for people who don’t like sports but it has a very bad feed back worldwide and it costs the Empire of evil almost nothing(just a good PR agency).
Dear natoistan,
Sport is extremely important for the health of the nation. Russia invests huge resources into building stadiums. Not unlike in Stalin’s time, the aim is to provide the majority of the population with affordable or free access to sport activities.

the Kremlin has interesting news, Sergei Ivanov is replaced as Chief of the Presidential Administration.
http://tass.ru/politika/3534275
He is being replaced by Anton Vaino, born in EStonia, a young bureaucrat.
http://tass.ru/politika/3532733
What is this change about? What is your take on this, Scott.
Hi, From Aztlan,
Talking about appointments of government officials…
We should take into consideration that Russia is not being run by politicians, aristocrats, clergy or bourgeoisie. Russia is the only state in existence that is being run by the officers of the intelligence services. As the intelligence officers they perform duties and orders as ministers, generals, diplomats, and billionaires, but they always remain on the active duty.
It’s my understanding that Sergei Ivanov was ordered to take the control over the Russia’s transportation system and the Silk Road project with China, and another “Silk Road” from India via Pakistan, Iran Azerbaijan, and Russia to Europe.
These are the vitally important infrastructures for Russia.
You probably don’t remember sabotages of the railroads during the anti-government putsches at the beginning of the 90s. Maybe you can recall how in the winter of 2014-2015 100s of trains all over Russia were “suddenly” canceled by the “private” companies that administered those trains. This was when Putin asked, “Have you completely lost your mind?” After that some people went to Siberia to look for it.
As an intelligence officer, Sergei Ivanov is doing what his country needs him to do.
” This was when Putin asked, “Have you completely lost your mind?” After that some people went to Siberia to look for it.”
LOL. Love the line Scott.
By the way, you say “It’s my understanding that Sergei Ivanov was ordered to take the control over the Russia’s transportation system and the Silk Road project with China, and another “Silk Road” from India via Pakistan, Iran Azerbaijan, and Russia to Europe.
Can you tell us where you got your understanding? Is there a link?. I’ve been following all I can today about this, but haven’t found what specifically Ivanov is to do. I understand he left his job as part of an agreement, that when he took it on it would be for 4 yrs, and it’s now 4yrs 8 mths and he asked to be moved. The ambiguity of the role he is moving into had me intrigued and a bit puzzled, so I am wondering if you are surmising or you have found an announcement.
Many thanks.
Again, the intelligence officers don’t “take jobs,” they get orders. Just like in the military. Their “jobs” is to serve at the FSB or GRU.
Sergei Ivanov is appointed to be the President’s special envoy (representative) for environmental issues, ecology and transportation.
He will be reporting and taking orders directly from the president. He will be in charge over all the ministers and bureaucrats, and businesses in dealing with the global warming, like the recent outbreak of anthrax. He will be in charge for the Arctic exploration. He will be in charge for saving tigers, and replenishing fish in the rivers and lakes. He also will supervise the water use and safety, which is the strategic issue. Just recently some local authorities in the Far East tried to sell a river to China, which could result in an ecological disaster.
Also, he will be in charge for the transportation, roads and railroads, as I described previously.
I don’t have links. My opinion is based partially on the knowledge of the way things work in Russia, and partially on the opinions of the people whose opinions I trust.
Also, some people say that his new appointment is a vacation before being appointed on super-important job.
For example, for a position of a Prime Minister, instead of Dmitry “iPhone” Medvedev.
Yes, all of this makes sense. On a visit to Crimea earlier in the year, after President Putin was shown the advances made on the Kerch Bridge he asked about the highway that will be linking Kerch to Simferopol, apparently no one was able to brief him on the progress of this link of the project. He aske, “And who is supposed to give me information and who can be held responsible”.
It is one example of the problems facing Russia, which is a Continent in itself, people can hide in the anonimity of distance, and many hide from the responsibilities, as per the problems on the roads of a Siberian city, I forget which at the moment.
This says that president Putin has the pulse of the nation and the geopolitical concerns that affect Russia. I remember his concern about declining bee populations brought on by GMOs and the pesticide use they multiply. Another interesting fact is that the US has released GMO salmon into the Pacific ocean, from Alaska. it might be a distant possibility considering the habits of the species but the contamination of the Russian Wild salmon, from Vladivostok to Kamchatka is a real possibility.
Let´s hope Ivanov will do something about Cargill that has its claws reaching into the transortation of Russian grains, it is one place where sabotage can take place.
Russia could be the last reservoir of natural species in the world
Rogozin brought some order to the MIC after Serdiukov, let´s hope Ivanov will bring many aparatchiks and fifth columnists to heel.
Dmitry “iPhone” Medvedev.
the idea of replaying “iPhone” (Medvedev) for “Yota” (Ivanov) is great.
correction: replaying = replacing
Any idea why can’t I access TASS.RU ?
QRATOR HTTP 502 – application unreachable.
Worked OK now for me in London.
“Now there is a search for 4(5) people. The order is to apprehend them alive. That’s explains why we had so many killed and wounded.”
Of course. Russia wants them alive if possible. They’ll put them on trial, and establish the facts under the law. Possibly the Crimea Prosecutor, Natalia Poklonskaya, will conduct it? How can the global media stay away from that one?
I wondered how Russia will respond, and this is typical of the natural, surface response. It’s actually the appropriate response of a law-abiding nation to acts of terrorism.
Try them, put them in prison for very long lengths of time. let them sit there as an open wound for the enemy to contemplate. Because there will more. And eventually, if the west is sufficiently crazy, Russia will arrest soldiers of foreign armies on its land. And then it really will go to the UN.
Re: ” Possibly the Crimea Prosecutor, Natalia Poklonskaya, will conduct it? ”
I’d be front row at that trial. By the prosecutor’s desk. With flowers. :p
Speaking of NP…
Kiev Lacks Courage to Admit Plotting Foiled Sabotage in Crimea
http://sputniknews.com/europe/20160813/1044234537/ukraine-crimea-russia.html
“Natalia Poklonskaya, prosecutor general of the Republic of Crimea, said that the Ukrainian leadership had a history of being furtive in their aggressive actions and then distance themselves from the committed acts.
The cowardly stance of Ukrainian authorities prevents them from taking responsibility for being authors of the thwarted plot to commit acts of sabotage in Crimea, Natalia Poklonskaya, prosecutor general of the Republic of Crimea, said Saturday.
“It all matches the current criminal face of the Ukrainian leadership. They revealed their nature from the very start, when they came to power through a coup d’etat, and now they affirm their cowardly position. They do not even have the courage to admit what they have committed,” Poklonskaya said.
Earlier in the day, Poklonskaya said that all suspects into the attempted acts of sabotage would be taken into custody, but refused to specify the number of suspects due to the investigation secrecy.”
Furtive, cowardly, the hallmarks of the zio-gay.
Excerpt from my article on this abortive terrorism attempt:
“…Natalia Poklonskaya; what she has to say about it should not be overlooked amid all the highly charged international mudslinging going on and I’m pleased to give her the last word because the point she makes really brings it all home. Natalia points out that there are large numbers of Ukrainian citizens who come to Crimea to vacation on the Black Sea during the summer. They are being made welcome by the Crimean people, in contrast for example to the way someone from Crimea might be treated in Kyiv. These Ukrainians are there enjoying their fun by the sea all the while there are their countrymen plotting to blow things up with explosives planted where the blasts could kill them. She goes on to say, that because these acts are being sanctioned by the Ukrainian government, “they confirm this fact that they are hardly a democratic and civilized state,” she said, but did not specify which codes would be enforced against the perpetrators. That will probably come out once these cases go to trial.

Putin has once again showed remarkable restraint and patience. God bless him. This was an excellent SITREP.
Thanks Scott for gathering all this data on these incidents and putting it into order so we can see what happened much better. And for following up.
Facebook russian truth has an article from 11 Aug via stalkerzonethat ukr intelligence services claims russians shot at themselves……..
Scott,
have you any idea how the RF authorities get these captured entities to speak so readily?
what could they be threatened with or promised? just curious..or, are they natural born non- vertrebrae, slimey sons of bitches with no morals or ideology even if sick and distorted who simply do not care. are they doing it for the sake of their faces appearing/being streamed on the net/camera/tv.
what may be going on there?
thanks. lb
Dear lb
Look at the official and inter-governmental reaction of the Kiev junta and its NATO “advisers.”
They immediately distanced themselves from the captured, even so there are mounts of evidence that they are officers of the Ukrainian armed forces and military intelligence.

These men are abandoned by their commanders and government, and they are on their own. If they return to Ukraine they would be tried as traitors. By saying the truth, they show that they know that they have been betrayed. Plus, they are bargaining for the Russian court leniency. Russia doesn’t have a death penalty, but with the adoption of the new anti-terror laws, they can get life in prison, or not.
What’s important is that other groups of NATO terrorists in Ukraine know that they will also be abandoned and betrayed, if they survive. A sobering discovery, indeed.
policy also is charitable and kind. it is “christian”. this encourages the Ukrainian service members to surrender… no accident Comrade Preside is judo master.
contra-wise the neoliberal nazis, and the unki nazis, torture “folks”, as they say.
which side would you surrender to?
Scott,
I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and the more I read, the more disgusted I have become. I don’t agree with President Putin who gives us the reason Poroshenko sock-puppet regime did this was to distract from domestic/ economic troubles; that’s too superficial. Poroshenko is involved with US operatives, and nothing they do or say is what it appears to be. Agent Panov was hung out to dry; what if he was ordered to do a mission that was betrayed so that he was bound to get caught so that Poroshenko could play the victim so that there would be a reason to get on with…what?
I know that the Khazarian Mafia very much wants a NATO missile base in Crimea to threaten Russia with – they have been scheming this for years. I think that was hidden behind the “spontaneous uprising” of 2013-2014 which was funded, and Victoria Nuland allows that $5 Billion was spent to make it happen. But, they really don’t care what happens to Ukraine, which to them is expendable. Panov was expendable too. I suspect he was supposed to get caught, and I also suspect he knew it from the start he was on a one-way mission, but he also knew he was in no position to refuse his orders. Why else would he sing like a bird as soon as he gets caught? On the other hand…we don’t really know that his confession was real.
The Russians have him, and they aren’t about to give him back; I think they know that if they do that, Panov is roadkill but also, for the time being he is useful. So, they will have the Crimean prosecutor’s office convict him so that he can cool his heels in a prison cell until this blows over and that’s why Poklonskaya is being so tight-lipped about what the charges will be. Did you see that latest pic of her…totally stressed out she looks, even frightened.
Comrade President said, carefully and clearly: “we know everything”. Time since then has revealed that he was saying a true thing…
nazi’s and bandits “we’ll waste them in the outhouse”, he said.
Bet on it.
I have a report from a Russian contact that a Canadian Army solider was captured during that incident and is being interrogated. Any way of confirming that as it follows a report of 11 Canadian Army soldiers being killed attacking the Donbas on July 23rd.
I’m so sad and sorry to hear of 11 Canadians being killed attacking the Donbass…why wasn’t it TEN times more dead Canadian soldiers???
Another way to look at it… Let’s find the execs, you know, the ones with power and influence, who benefitted from the ‘free trade’ agreement Canada secured with Ukraine, thanks to the coup… and let’s send those execs to the front line in Donbass. Along with the neoliberal cult members who occupy/occupied Canada’s government, and signed off on violent coups, in return for more “free trade”.
And maybe we can show a little more understanding for the foot soldiers, who follow orders, and in Canada’s case (err, U.S. North’s case, my apologies) appear to have absolutely no power or influence of any kind. What will it achieve to sacrifice a bunch more of them?
It should be pretty obvious now to any NATO soldier, what NATO is about, especially after the invasion of Iraq based on BS.
Therefore, anybody in NATO should have left by now, and nobody should have joined, unless of course they remain in it/joined willingly, i.e. without doing due diligence.
Also, it should be required reading, at least in the USA, that whoever wants to join the US military should also be forced to read US Marine General Smedley Butler’s War is a Racket etc, and if they then still want to be in the military, then they should be prepared for all the consequences of their stupidity.
Yes, I know that many poor/unemployed join the US military for income, further education (college degree) etc, but taking into account that they are going to be used for Defense, sorry, Offense companies, who care nothing for killing, sorry, murdering innocent people, then why should I have sympathy for them, rather than the innocent victims???
I was talking about Canada, not the US, as you referred to in your response (you referred to Canadian soldiers in your first message). I’m not suggesting that its either/or, feel sorry for one, not the other. And I suggested understanding, not feeling sorry for or pity, which in my mind are two different things. It’s wishing more dead soldiers to even the score with innocent dead victims (civilians). Yes, this may be gratifying emotionally, but it lets the true culprits get away free. And I think the masterminds plan for this, don’t they? Let the ones in the field take the blame. At what point, if ever, does the anger, rage, the pitchforks actually aim at those who make the decisions, those with the power, those in control?
Just one further thought: what I’m saying is new for me because I only just recently started paying attention at all to the opinions of individuals in Canada’s Armed. And it’s a sobering awakening for me to discover how many of them don’t sound like the reps from the US who get all the headlines. Yet, I used to either ignore those who are members of Canada’s Armed Forces altogether, or just think of them as the same as the States (ie. frothing at the mouth, war crazed). So I was mistaken. And now I wonder if more Canadians thought of our soldiers the same as we do shopkeepers or dentists or accountants, maybe we’d be less likely to elect a govt who will use Canada’s military to protect mining interests and fracking rights. And maybe we would not lose entire generations to the cause of color revolutionaries — what are we going to do with all these losers, I wonder??? Who think the life of a CR is where it’s at? Maybe a genuine regard for the role of military in our society would help counteract the appeal to youth of this empty troublemaking.
Found this article interesting for the different angles that were presented by the various people interviewed.
Here’s What Will Happen if Moscow Breaks Off Diplomatic Relations With Kiev
http://sputniknews.com/europe/20160813/1044235760/russia-ukraine-diplomatic-conflict-analysis.html
Hello Scott,
Why does Russia continue to tolerate the behaviour of Kiev?
It is stated that the people of Russia and Ukraine have a long historical relationship.
But after maidan there has been no evidence that Ukraine people still feel those historical links.
They have just got on with life under the Kiev regime. ( I don’t include Donbas). They have even accepted saakashvili in Odessa.
Kiev has shown that it is prepared to kill Russians through this terrorism – I cannot see why Russia would still maintain any relationship with them.
Kiev allow themselves to be used by US/ Eu/NATO as the bullet to kill Russia.
To me as an outsider that is unacceptable. How can anyone deal with such people?
The threat posed by ukraine will only get worse under Clinton who has made plain her hatred of Putin and Russia.
Russia needs to break relations with Kiev and sanction them. They also need to bring in a visa regime as they did with Georgia and Turkey.
Kiev has stolen, and cheated, and killed those in Donbas and now they seek to kill in Crimea – it must end.
Sanctions will cause economic hardship but the Kiev govt need to forced out
Kiev nazi bandits will leave in time. They will steal everything and leave…then Comrade President will coordinate a peace within the shattered poverty. This is obvious – and it’s why it is essential that force, when it can not be avoided, be used proportionally for a reasoned and logical mutual benefit. This is why the emotional desire for “justice” and retribution is a serious problem – it ruins the peace.
There may be skirmishes in Ukraine, but it’s only one theater of W3 – and the “solution” lies far from Kiev…
I’m not Scott, I’ve been thinking about wtf Russia is doing for these last 2 years, and I came to the opinion is that it’s government (fully includes Putin of course) is very Libertarian, to the point of being suicidal. This is why this government will never do anything about Russia’s economic crisis, or commit economical terrorism (so-called santions is what I’m talking about) against other countries — for the same reason that Germany will never do anything logical about the refugees (example: it could admit only Christians, homosexuals, women, etc, the victims of Middle Eastern mindset and not the predators, whom i should deport and not even to Syria, but to some Chinese slavery concentration camp, or into the African Union), Russia has had a massive “I have inflicted infinite terrors on some groups” moment because of Communism, and Germany has the exact moment about the National Socialism, and this is why both countries, I’m sorry, act in such a retarded fashion.
To put it simply: nineties are not over, Russia feels that it didn’t apologize enough.
This is my interpretation of why Putin is so irresponsible economically. You can disagree.
There is no question of irresponsibility. Comrade President is not a dictator but a representative trustee for the Russian people – this is his responsibility and he’s made this absolutely clear, even at the great risk of his own life. This is proof. Guns drawn.
He is subtle, and must find consensus – this accounts for his pace and style -consensus takes time, shared assumptions. The aggressors are moving things toward consensus for him. And making mistakes. One must never distract an enemy when he is making a mistake. It’s judo, and war. He’s good at it.
Like the West in general, Germany is reaping the fruits of its imperial wars and covert terrorism inflicted on Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.
Westerners whine like pathetic b*tches living in a Orwellian world where THEY of all people are the victims of the non-Western “evil doers”–when in fact they are the world’s preeminent terrorist nations, whose bloodstained way of life and “democracy” are based upon centuries of looting the planet to this very day.
To hell with Germany, Europe, and especially the Ango American nations.
These nations are comprised of smug arrogant pricks with an inbred sense of entitlement and superiority.
Like their Nazi ancestors, America and its crime partners are in desperate need of a harsh reality check.
I like your comment about “inbred sense of.. superiority”. I suspect that a lot of America’s wealthy people are born into wealth, as opposed to being “self made men” embodying the American dream in themselves.
This latest presidential race is the perfect example of it. It show that America is the land of unlimited opportunity for the relatives of the rich and famous!
“To hell with Germany, Europe, and especially the Ango American nations.”
Spot on. It serves the arrogant, chauvinist Western middle classes and labour aristocracies damn right that the zio-gay Western Elites won’t pander to them anymore. As I wrote the other day:
The Western Elites are totally committed to Zionist Bankster internationalism with very little concern for their own Western domestic subjects. The most dramatic proof positive hereof is the deliberate open border policy in lock-step with deliberate imperialist war and conquest. To chauvinist Westerners, this must feel like a huge “backhanded compliment” from their Overlords.
With a few scattered exceptions, most of the Populist Right also seems to suffer from an even more baseless and stupid delusion: that the ruling Zionazis ever would let themselves be coerced by the pampered, vainglorious Western petty bourgeoisie with its howling, moaning, and groaning based on unrequited love and feeling of neglect.
Looks like continuous attempts to set on fire the entire strip from Baltic to Mediterranean in order to prevent (or at least delay) development of the “New silk road”.
Lavrov said Russia has irrefutable evidence that Ukraine’s authorities had planned the act of sabotage for a long time with the goal of destabilizing the situation in Crimea.
“We have something in addition to what you see on television, the irrefutable evidence that this was the act of sabotage that had been planned for a long time by the Main Intelligence Department of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and had the goal of destabilizing the situation in Russia’s Crimea,” he stressed.
Russia is taking extensive measures to prevent further sabotage attempts in Crimea, he said.

maybe a moot point but probably these sabotage/terrorist events would have taken place should ukr forces during and after Maidan have taken “control “of Crimea in any form, and used against any Crimeans resistance to that……….so only proves referendum and the valiant efforts to protect Crimea by “quiet people” and associates fully justified their actions.
Probaly should have said “polite people”……!
could this below be a secret war on Crimea planning room??
Kiev’s 17th Floor: Inside the hotel where Maidans are hatched
August 14, 2016 –
Oleg Tsarev, RusVesna –
Translated by J. Arnoldski
Despite the temporary suspension of the Parliament of Novorossiya’s activities, Oleg Tsarev continues to actively communicate with his peers in Ukraine, including colleagues from the Verkhovna Rada, big Ukrainian businessmen, and politicians sympathetic to the idea of reintegrating Russia and the former Soviet republics.
As a result of his contacts, Tsarev is often able to obtain confidential information that is not leaked into the media but which is of enormous importance to understanding the situation in the country of the victorious Maidan. We are continuing to publish the most important insider news from Oleg Tsarev. Here is the latest piece:
“The Hotel Kiev is the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada’s hotel in which non-Kiev deputies often reside. The entire seventeenth floor is held in strict secrecy by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, and his assistants and guards.
The speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrey Parubiy, is preparing to move to Avakov’s floor. Three double rooms have been specially reserved and are undergoing remodeling for him. One is for Parubiy himself, and the other two for his assistants and his guard. The floor is served by a separate elevator in front of which on the ground floor are guards on duty.
Only specially trusted staff can enter the secret floor. They say that even in the event of a fire, a special fire truck would come to the hotel. The group which stood behind the shooting of the Heavenly Hundred on the Maidan gathers together here.
Only brave souls among the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine would ask to know the source of funding for such costly repairs. I’m sure that if there was the opportunity to find out whose offices are on this floor, then light would be shed on the make up of the group steering Poroshenko’s overthrow.
It’s funny that right after I had described a hypothetical scenario of a coup in Ukraine during the Holy Procession, hundreds of articles about an impending coup in Ukraine were written. Who hasn’t been accused of planning assassination attempts on the government! Even those who obviously lack the resources for such operations, such as Yulia Tymoshenko and Nadezhda Savchenko, have been accused of such. Somehow, it seems to me that this harmonious choir of paid bloggers has been tasked with stuffing the infosphere with fluff to hide the real conspirators.
The situation in Ukraine somewhat vaguely resembles the situation in Turkey. But instead of the American air force base at Incirlik, there is Hotel Kiev. Instead of Fethullah Gulen, there is Arseniy Yatsenyuk. It’s all like the joke: “Such terrorist attacks for such a country.” That’s how it is here. “Such conspirators for such a country.”

Polish ex-foreign and defense minister Radoslaw Sikorski thinks the Minsk-negotiated peace plan for eastern Ukraine has failed. Accordingly, he’s calling on Poland (and presumably other NATO countries) to supply Kiev with advanced lethal weapons, including anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles.
In a comment published on his official Twitter page, the former official stated bluntly that “if the Minsk peace process is over, we should supply Ukraine with anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to deter further Russian aggression.”

YEKATERINBURG (Sputnik) – Germany is calling for avoiding actions that could lead to the deterioration of the situation in Crimea, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Monday.
“We must refrain from everything that can deteriorate the situation further,” Steinmeier said after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The German official said Berlin was concerned about the situation in Crimea and there was no complete clarity on the developments in the region as the results of investigations by Ukrainian and Russian sides were expected.
“We do not have specific information, there is totally contradictory data from Russian and Ukrainian sides,” the German foreign minister added.”

Who is “we” exactly–nato and Merkel saying Crimea must be returned , -????-or ‘russian aggression’ defending Crimea—-methinks time for UN and EU to recognise Crimea as Russian or this nonsense is gonna go for years and only incentivise ukr to continue with its attacks “supported’ by nato and other countries armaments and trainers. Once formally recognised it then would become clearer than ever to UNSC that any attack on Crimea would have a total russian response.
Maybe?
So duplicitous Steinmeer still muddying the waters of the Sivash where the ukr forces crossed over……………..
President of the Center of Systems Analysis and Forecasting Rostislav Ishchenko made in the newspaper “Izvestia” a terrible prognosis for Ukraine, which is very similar to the truth. Ukraine is on the verge of civil war is already in its own territory. In terms of social and economic collapse of the regime in Kiev will be forced to fight regardless of whether Poroshenko will keep for a presidency or be deposed.
“Kiev regime has come to the final financial and economic collapse – said the expert. – Since the beginning of the heating season, the rent should exceed the average salary, which very few people receive. Unemployment also continues to grow. And there is no hope, not only to the rapid change in the situation for the better, but even on a temporary stabilization. Ukraine’s economy is in such a state that its final collapse even optimists expected this fall. Under these conditions, treatment will fight no matter whether Poroshenko will keep for a presidency or be deposed. And stripping dissidents mode starts is necessary. He has no other choice. ”
The author notes that the West will not Kiev real help, and
“Russia will not come again to war.”
“Fighting will have an army of DNI / LC, which can get a gain at the expense of the population exempted regions. That is, the war will be civil, “- emphasizes the expert.
“Third, the Nazis could help start a new war in the Donbas can arrange a dozen of provocations on the border with the Crimea, can spend sweep of anti-fascists, and can help to overthrow Poroshenko. But their control is no longer possible, and the second time they have the power of “decent people” will not give – predicts Ishchenko. – Oligarchs they are cleaned with no less pleasure than the anti-fascists. So that Ukraine is not only on the verge of an imminent resumption of civil war in the Donbass, but also on the verge of an imminent collapse of the civil conflict and the spread to the entire country. ”

Assistant head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodyan indignantly posted a video which shows the time of communication of the famous Ukrainian lawyer and social activist Montyan Tatiana, was detained at the Ukrainian-Polish border on Saturday night, 13 August. He rebelled his phrase, uttered Ukrainian lawyer Montyan: “Russia will come to you all hanged on telegraph poles. And this I would be very happy. ”
The situation really turned scandalous: Ukrainian pograntsy confiscated passports Montyan not allowed in Poland, saying that doing it at the request of the Security Service, but no documents to that effect did not show. True, they said that the secret service officers go to the border to personally interrogate her as she entered into the database of unreliable citizens online “Peacemaker”! Tatiana Montyan After keeping a few hours, the same pograntsy said that the SBU decided not to question it and returned the documents. However, due to the delay Montyan late for the plane to Barcelona and said the whole incident a deliberate humiliation. And because it is a well-known lawyer and qualified, that will now apply the court about all this mayhem.
The incident occurred in the pear, on the border with Poland. However Montyan known Kiev was detained journalist Vladimir Boyko. His passport was also confiscated, but returned a few hours later.”

In an interview with the Kiev magazine “Correspondent”, answering the question, in what way is necessary today to save Ukraine from the collapse, a Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Gerashchenko suddenly remembered this, and not think of the farmhouse ideologists of the history of Ukraine.
Literally: “We need to sew Ukraine. In the form in which the country is today, she appeared in 1954, it was then finally formed the territory of modern Ukraine. We are a multinational state, primarily consisting of the citizens of the Russian and Ukrainian origin. And in all countries, inhomogeneous natssostavu, there is always a certain misunderstanding. Such conflicts are even in civilized countries, in countries such as Ukraine need to maintain a balanced cultural, linguistic and national policy. ”
And then about how thin and care should be this “politics of unity”: “Now we must keep a very cautious policy in the country to her sew, staple in every way, so that each nation felt in Ukraine, home to had no attempts to distort history and to elevate one nation against another. ” And such statements – the country’s militant Ukrainian nationalism! Obviously pan Gerashchenko feels close maydanschikov collapse.
By the way, in the same interview, Gerashchenko, practically refutes the main thesis of the propaganda Kiev that Ukraine at the Donbass allegedly fighting with the regular troops of Russia. According to Gerashchenko, APU only twice clashed with Russian regular troops in Ilovaiskaya and Debaltsevo, and all the rest of the time from the republics of Donetsk residents are fighting them, and in the second tier are volunteers from Russia.”

Prosecutor General of Ukraine continues to pretend that intensively investigating crimes euromaidan participants and Ukrainian government officials are trying hard not to “gloss over” the case.
That the governor of the Transcarpathian region, General Gennady Moskal, received a summons for questioning in the GPU, he announced that he could not come to Kiev, because it does not have the right to leave the region entrusted to him: too much in this region have accumulated urgent matters.
Recall: Gennady Moskal, being the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, headed by a temporary parliamentary commission to investigate illegal actions during euromaidan in 2013-2014 GG, and because it is, besides general of militia (police), it just knows the price of everything held ” investigations “in the country of victorious Maidan.

Excellent article…but to clarify on matters not covered here.
Crimea expects 460,000 Ukrainians to holiday in Crimea this summer. Official Crimean estimate.
Ukraine can not survive the next winter if Russia decides to stop dealing with Ukraine…the people will freeze to death…it is quite simple…Russia has to keep the Ukrainian general public alive no matter what the dictators in Kiev say or do.
In this report the FSB stated that the intruders used competent fire fighting tactics which suggests that these men were not regular Ukrainian soldiery and not Azov division or Pravy Sector men.
They were either NATO or Ukrainian Special Forces…probably both.
Poroshenko would have had a pistol held to his head by the US over this matter which explains his panic.
Successful or not this is a win-win situation for the US.
This is the reality over this matter…
Further…for those commentors who are angry for one reason or another over Putin’s or Russia’s inability to respond like the US (eg violently) to various challenges I can only say you must all be armchair strategists with no military experience at all.
War is best avoided if at all possible because the only winners are the arms manufacturers.
While World War Three started about three years ago, technically, Russia is in no position to initiate armed conflict…not yet…not until 2025…though it does look, unfortunately, that if war criminal Hillary Clinton is massaged in to the US presidency armed conflict might start in 2017.
In this case Russia will be fighting tooth and claw for her life. The battles will be desperate. It will be a close run thing at best or mutual annihilation at worst.
Putin and his team have better game plans offering more success than US style belligerent aggression…so make yourself another cup to tea you armchair generals and go back to your war gaming.
