So basically – a guy who won the election with 70% of the votes, unanimously declared by international observers as fair and valid, boycotted by most opposition candidates, is declared as usurper – while a guy who is a Speaker of the Parliament, didn’t even run in the election declares himself as a legitimate president?
Jeremy Scahill’s use of the word “dictator” and “strongman” is a slanderous accusation against President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and to include his name among other, lesser principled leaders of their respective governments is a backdoor attempt to demonize the Russian Federation as aggressors and imperialists, which is blatantly false.
Who leads the world in regime change and putsches against democratically elected governments? That would be Washington, DC, the Devil’s Cauldron. One has to look at the indefatigable history of the United States and its brute colonization of other nations and contempt for the rest of the world’s countries to see the truth. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change
Lucifer has many faces and contrivances who constantly appeals to the weakness of man. Progressive liberalism and its followers present themselves as scrupulous defenders of populist ideology, the paladin of zeitgeist that shrouds itself in modern American hedonism. Be wary of it.
It is Simple Simon Says: Do This . . . or else. The Hegemon is very well, energized and terrified by China and Russia. A quarter century of Unipolar authority has fed the delusion that global humanity will bow to US dominance.
With the rise of China’s economic power and Russia’s military power, the Hegemon is close to being short-circuited. So, it strikes at the what appears to be the weakest outposts of China and Russia.
Interestingly, the US Southern Command’s role has not become apparent. This regime take down operation appears to be classically CIA and State Dept. The US military tends to keep arms’ length away from these cluster-f*cks.
Trump may yet opt for some military action if the Venezuelans don’t genuflect and obey.
The sense of American Hegemonic ideology is palpable again. Pence, Bolton, Pompeo, Rubio and hapless Trump who must ride the Tiger to which he’s strapped on. America is desperate to control its vassalage. It sees Venezuela as its own. After all, Rockefeller’s Standard Oil discovered and developed the oil industry. In the Hegemon’s calculus, that was part of the Manifest Destiny of America. Linked to the bogus Monroe Doctrine, the US believes religiously that all the Western Hemisphere is its property and the 450 million souls that live there are interlopers on its land.
This ideology is fed to American citizens as a fact of life. There will always be massive support to take control and install new management when “outsiders” threaten or communists or leftist socialism raises its head south of the border.
Lm445, you wrote, “Trump may yet opt for some military action if the Venezuelans don’t genuflect and obey.”
That possibility has been broached by other, more knowledgeable persons than myself so I wonder how U.S. military intervention in Venezuela would actually unfold.
I can only imagine two scenarios.
Scenario 1. Ground forces staged from Columbia would move across the western border and capture Maracaibo, which has a population of about 2 and a quarter million people. Moving eastward, the invaders would then come upon the city of Barquismeto, with 800,000 citizens. Continuing onward, the city of Valencia is next with about 1.3 million people. Then Maracay (1.7 million) and finally the nation’s capital Caracas, with a population of 3 million. A total of about 9 million Venezuelan lives would potentially be affected. This plan doesn’t seem to be the best option.
Scenario 2. U.S. Marine expeditionary forces make landfall at La Guaira from the sea. Tanks would be unloaded and drive westward bypassing the city of Maiquetia. Some of the Marines would split off to secure the Simon Bolivar International Airport and the main group would drive on the L-02 highway into Caracas. This appears to be the best strategy.
The non-Venezuelan tourists vacationing in the resort areas will be a problem. The U.S. will have to force them to shelter in place I’m guessing.
Maduro has to have an exit plan. If he moves south into the interior of the country, he risks being captured or killed. But the Venezuelans that voted for him would rally around their president and fight hard to prevent Guaido from assuming power. Then again, Maduro may leave to protect himself but what does that say about his character?
The question I brought up in an earlier post about what Russia will do is still an unknown. If Guaido becomes the de facto president, he could cancel the contracts that Maduro made with Russian businesses and award them to the U.S. (to the victor goes the spoils). China has a stake in this as well as they are a major creditor of Venezuela.
No matter which scenario takes place, the Venezuelan people will suffer in more poverty and death due to the hubris of the American hegemon.
I pray that God intervenes somehow, someway, if it is his will.
I think USA is trapped in this situation, The FANB had not been broken so far and the militia is composed by 2 million people who has been training for about 10 years in irregular warfare. You need to cross a lot of popular areas from La guaira to Caracas, tons of places for an ambush. I mean they need to control the biggest favelas in latinamerica which are pretty much in the way to Caracas.
The FANB recieved new weapon from Russia recently too. I don’t know, all the things that USA are doing so far is pure intimidation to see if the military felt apart a la Lybia. They even tried to divide Chavismo with some defectors which were Ministers of Chavéz but don’t have any leadership anymore inside chavismo. I mean zero influence.
Thank you, Carlos for that chilling fact of reality.
President Maduro needs to remind the American people of the deaths of 58,000 U.S. soldiers during the Vietnam War, a great conflict fought exclusively in jungle terrain. An aggressive video based marketing campaign must be created with historical film and pictures of dead American boys in body bags being carried away. The videos must also touch upon the destruction of the country of Laos, the most heavily bombed nation in the history of modern warfare.
The narrator of these videos must be someone whose diction is perfect English so there is no mistake in words and vocal inflection. Perhaps a Latin American entertainer could be hired who can be convinced that war always kills innocent people much, much more than combatants, always.
Force of arms financially benefits the weapons industrialists and the bankers who fund them. This impending invasion will give the American oil companies control over Venezuelan oil resources, just like when the U.S. overthrew the Iranian government in 1953 to install “their guy” Reza Pahlavi, the butcher of Iran. The gold rich mines are there too, waiting to be exploited by the U.S. Government
Maduro must admit openly and honestly the challenges he faces with the domestic economy, infrastructure of the country and social assistance for the most impoverished and destitute of his people. Above all, Nicolás Maduro Moros must look in the mirror of fate and stand tall as El Presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela. He absolutely must not leave the country. He can certainly seek safe haven in the interior of Venezuela and lead the resistance against the Yankee imperialists, but he must remain in Venezuela until the very end.
Maduro must take on the persona of Simon Bolivar the great liberator, who led the revolution against Spanish rule. Maduro has to fight with resolve in the greatest battle of his political life and never give in to Washington, DC, the Devils Cauldron.
“An aggressive video based marketing campaign must be created with historical film and pictures of dead American boys in body bags being carried away. ”
This soinds to me like a great idea!
How would one get it aired?
Perhaps one would have to create some kind of scenario that news outlets woujd cover, such as a big demonstration where the video is shown on a huge screen.
Otherwise I cannot imagine that Western news outlets would show such a video.
But it is still a good idea to make it. It would get seen somehow.
I agree Katherine, the U.S. MSM would ignore Maduro’s side of the story. But all hope is not lost; there are other platforms available to educate the public.
The video campaign can be broadcast to countries in Eurasia starting with the Russian Federation news sites. A multilingual software “APP” can be created that billions of users around the world can download to their mobile devices that will stream this important message for the benefit of all citizens of the world. It just has to be cleverly designed by a high-powered advertiser who can put a human face and families at the forefront of the truth about the destructiveness of war brought on by the western beast. Maduro’s message is not just about Venezuela, it’s for every country that faces the heavy-handed dictate of the globalist warmongers that control American foreign policy.
The American people are denied those visual images of death and property destruction due the lack of journalist integrity in the national news. But many, many alternate news sites like our Saker community have not abandoned the morality and accuracy of reporting the truth. Every one of those sites can devote some of their bandwidth to show the Maduro message.
It can be done; it’s only a matter of will, of doing the right thing.
So basically – a guy who won the election with 70% of the votes, unanimously declared by international observers as fair and valid, boycotted by most opposition candidates, is declared as usurper – while a guy who is a Speaker of the Parliament, didn’t even run in the election declares himself as a legitimate president?

The targets will be resolute military stations, bases, outposts, border crossings.
Also, insertion of special forces moving with some “nationals” to wipe out small units of anti-air missile and radars.
Sabotage units to create infrastructure and civic havoc and panic.

Every week during the Vietnam War, the American people saw on their television sets the wounded and dead U.S. soldiers being loaded onto helicopters. That was a time when the national news wasn’t owned by six multinational corporations as is today (see: https://www.businessinsider.com/these-6-corporations-control-90-of-the-media-in-america-2012-6 ).
