I am getting a lot of emails warning me that a massive assault seems imminent in the Slaviansk – Kramatorsk – Krasnyi Liman area. The local commander, Strelkov, has posted a warning about this and RT is also echoing the same concern. I am also getting warnings from contacts in the Ukraine. The Ukies are not too keen in fighting at night so I expect that attack to begin tomorrow morning, in roughly five hours.
If this attack beings, let’s all try to gather information about what is happening. I will try to keep you posted and please feel free to post any information you come across.
In particular, since I do not fellow social media networks (FB, twitter, etc.) at all, I would ask those of you who do to keep us informed if you see something interesting.
Many thanks and kind regards,
The Saker
UPDATE: just got this from a contact:
Grads are on the move as of 3 hours ago, confirmed, destination unknown. Ukes are shooting off and on at civilian targets as of an hour ago, confirmed, subburbs of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, casualties if any unknown. Unconfirmed reports say a bridge in or near Lugansk city has been dropped on a major road to the city, waiting more info on that report. Reliable source says OTR-21 missiles are also on the move, destination unknown, direction unknown. I do not know if the navigation systems for these devices have been changed to west system or if they are still tied to the system in Russia. Scattered fighting around Slavyansk area at this time, confirmed. Here’s a vid of the labor hall in Odessa. This is one of the main leaders of maidan, voice easily recognizable. He clearly states when going through the labor union hall that ‘it’s just like labor union hall in maidan, piles of bodies’. They burned that building in Kiev and right sector left their prisoners in the building to burn alive, handcuffed and some shackled to heating system pipes on the floor occupied by right sector. Notice the bright sunlight at the beginning as right sector is coming downstairs and the ‘burn boy’ who had just set the stairs on fire. His task was to burn the faces and hands of the bodies found, some he burned alive. The sunlight shows right sector was in the building well before the main crowds got there, ergo the massacre was planned well in advance as we all know.
The more Russia dithers and vacillates the more anglosaxon sc…ums will try to push on to destroy Rusdia and Russian interests.
Stll keeping idiot lavrov and medvedev, are we ?
Oh God. From the fury of the Nutcakes, O Lord, deliver us! (For those of you unfamiliar with English history, this was a traditional prayer whenever the Vikings happened by…)
But Saker, what on earth does Kiev hope to accomplish? Is this just the equivalent of declaring victory and then going home after the elections? Do they really think this will gain them even begrudging popular support after they’ve left? Or don’t they care? Oligarchs want a passive supply of workers, but this is hardly the way to create them. Slaves revolted, some in big ways, most in small; I can’t imagine these people will do otherwise once they get over their shock.
Are they still trying to get Putin to do something, or are they really this short-sighted and stupid?
Oops, should have added that I substituted Nutcake for Norsemen in the original prayer; sitting half a planet away waiting for a war crime to be committed with my tax dollars has me really rattled. Those poor innocent people! There was a picture somewhere of an elderly woman in a housecoat in her half-destroyed house; I just can’t get her out of my mind.
I am not sure how armed the pro-Russian forces are, but according to Igor Strelkov they have a decent amount of weapons and explosives in their possessions. As a veteran of the wars in the Balkans I will take a freedom to give a few pointers to pro-Russian brothers when, and if, such an attack happens:
Before the attack:
Withdraw the pro-Russian fighters from those Mickey Mouse barricades (they are way too easy targets for Ukies). Fortify the already existing obstacles on the roads with heavy trucks, cement blocks and other heavy objects/machineries that will require Uki vehicles to slow down. Set up anti-personal mines around the obstacles disguising them with lots of cartons, papers and other trash (in case Uki soldiers try to remove the obstacles). Set up anti-tank mines on the side of the roads inside the perimeter of defense.
Reposition the forces to positions on both sides of the roads that Ukies might use to enter the city (whichever city it is), preferably behind the natural obstacles such as small cliffs or sides of shallow riverbeds. If those are not available (I am not familiar with the configuration of the terrain) have foxholes dug up on both sides of the road, possible near wooded areas (for possible reinforcement or withdrawal). Also, if possible dig up foxholes in the lower elevation than the road is (APC’s guns and tank’s cannons are useless in those situations). Have no more than 2 people in each foxhole (to avoid bigger casualties if the foxhole receives a direct hit from a mortal grenade). Each foxhole should have at least two RPGs and two shoulder-launched SAMs (of course, if available) and 10 to 20 hand grenades. Set up snipers at positions from where they can control large areas of the roads (tall buildings, hills, towers….). Set up mine entrances and exits to bridges, if any. Also, mine areas near the roads that could turn into natural landslides and/or avalanches. Set up reserve positions within the city for city battle if the enemy penetrates the first lines.
Organize two platoons of best and most skilled soldiers (between 40-60 people) to be very mobile (using cars, trucks, pick-ups, or any other means of transportation) that could quickly be transferred from one to any position on the front lines around the city that seems to become getting penetrated by the enemy. These 40-60 people are crucial for the entire operation. They will carry the heaviest load of the fighting.

Madam, you’ve never ever lived under communist tyranny.
The so called Right Sector permeating all society can deliver such a terror you are not aware of. Even German GESTAPO had no such means as todays ultra-nationalists had at their hands.
You have never known that every plant, factory, manufacturing enterprises, public and science institutions, local administrations, mail distribution centers, etc had “secret rooms” with secret service staff which decided who can may be employed or not.
You don’t have to hijack people, torture them or call to them with overt hint that something could have happened to your children if you did not stop this or that. Suffice it to block your career – scientific, professional, block your children to kindergarten and good education etc to not only have spoiled your life and your family forever but put them in misery.
The longer Russia will not burn out, yes burn out to the ground the Fascists, Nazi and ultra-nationalists thugs the deeper they integrate into Ukrainian social fiber. That’s time counts.
One of commenter was right – time is good for geological times, Ukraine lacks of time to be descent country and that Mr. Putin should know without hiding head in a sand.
20 years under such supervision on social scale and everyone would imbibe “ukrainism” living fully submerged in Ukrainian culture and indoctrination. New generation of 20 old year people having parents of Russian origin will be prod Ukrainians with deeply engraved nationalism in their souls. Engraved by media and education systems.
And that’s what Putin has given a damn, wanting united Ukraine without paying attention whoever was at the helm. Russian in Ukraine were only lost tribe for him. Disposable.
But that’s only my premonition. That’s why I cherished Mr. Putin for many things but I am aware of his former and present deeds not always laudable.
It sounds like this could be a big escalation but I wonder, is there any indication this is more than just same mostly untrained “elite national guard” with extra hardware they don’t know how to use? I can imagine veteran soldiers using non-lethal mortar fire to terrify their foe but it’s just as likely these guys simply haven’t a clue how to zero in on target. None of these operations really make any sense as military ops – more like politics.
If it’s true, bringing up Smerch to present situation is like having artillery in parking lot for a barroom brawl. Kiev’s troops want force protection, not shock and awe. I’m not sure I would consider it a grave misstep now for Russian command if they took preventative action. I’m starting to think that the US has disgraced itself so badly with drone insanity from POTUS that it would be hard for West to raise an outcry against Russian missiles done without murdering children and wedding guests which at the same time prevented irregular troops of illegal government from slaughtering even more countrymen.
Who will have the better profile in 2040 encyclopedia article about Superpower missile strikes against enemy in undeclared war? Which country will have record for crimes against humanity? Whose narrative will ring true: the prophets of new American century or the leaders who worked toward cooperation between nations.
And to quote a gentleman with a simple but splendid nom de guerre
„Не в силе Бог, но в правде!“
Brian
During the attack:
The most important goal is to maintain your positions for the first 2 hours after the attack begins. Those are the most important 2 hours of the battle. Nothing kills the moral of attackers better than when they realize they are not accomplishing their objectives. Shoot only when you are having a clear shot. Do not waste ammo. Do not use automatic fire unless you have no other choice (enemy is very close to you). When shooting RPGs aim at the caterpillar tracks of tanks and wheels of APC to disable them moving forward (that way the hit tanks and APCs themselves will become obstacles for the rest of the enemy columns. The crew of those tanks/APCs will be easy targets if they try to leave the vehicles…and they will try).
Now, the next thing might sound as a savage/inhumane thing to do, but the bottom line is that it’s a war, it’s them or you, so “no prisoners”. Nothing kills the moral of soldiers more than when they see, or hear about, fallen comrades.
Once the first two hours have passed, different tactics needs to be applied. Smaller columns of tanks/APCs followed by Uki soldiers need to be allowed to “pass” inside the pro-Russian territory. Only that they get into ambushes set up by those 40-60 chosen mobile fighters. Once those small columns are destroyed the mobile fighters need to leave the area as the enemy will probably try to shell those positions where their units are destroyed. Use all available non-fighting people to help with filling clips with bullets and supplying ammo to the front lines. Fight with no mercy and expect no mercy.
After the battle:
Once the attack starts to slow down and you notice that the enemy is retrieving, assess the damage on all the front lines, reinforce those ones that have been hit the most. Now, this time is the best time for a counter-attack since the enemy is tired (you are too, but you are defending your land, your family, your people) and demoralized after the unsuccessful attack. Go after them as far as it does not compromise your ability to go back to defense positions if the enemy brings reinforcements.
Communications is the key. The headquarter should manage the operations based on the information received directly from the field. Try not to panic and remember that you are defending your land, your family, your people!
Wow. What horrid scum. Good work in documenting modern day Nazis in action.

Perhaps you can guess what you think Russia’s A, B, and C plans are? Is it a “good thing” to have Donetsk and Lughansk smashed? The US is very good at generating Somalias and Syrias, so one would need a response to that. It is doubtful if the US really cares if Eastern Ukrainians hate Kiev and the US; all that matters is driving millions to Russia and destroying the economy.
According to Wikipedia (not a reliable source I know) OTR-21s run on GLONAS. If Moscow can shut the system down temporarily in the southeastern Ukraine then it can render them useless for precision strikes, they will become in effect mini-SCUDS with big warheads just as likely to land in a field or on an apartment bloc as to hit any true military target. Of course for the junta killing a lot of Southeastern Ukrainian civilians enraging Russians again might be the objective, as screwed up as that sounds. Reprogramming the missiles to run on GPS would seem simple, but I would imagine Moscow’s eyes in the Ukrainian MIC would figure out what Kiev was up to fast if they did this since this is one of Ukraine’s few advanced standoff weapons systems (not up to the level of the Iskander but a mini-Iskander when GPS guided to the target). Until the Saker mentioned Iskanders the other day I had forgotten that Moscow was capable of launching on Ukrainian HQs, bases or National Guard unit assembly points from well inside Russian territory without a single jet crossing the border:

Strelkov Q&A, his comments
May 19th, 1:17
Q: Any newcomers from local people after your address ?
A: “Yeah, there are. 40 of them have joined us in the town, 300 more are to come. There will be other people, too.”
————————-
What a surprise :) DPR fighters attacked the concentration of junta forces in Izium (kind of junta base camp there)

Strelkov:
— Allied guys” (смежники) worked there. :-)
———————————-
May 21st, 0:59 (comments for events of May 20)
— 40 more vehicles came to Karachun (the hill overlooking Slavyansk) today. And many more of APCs and other vehicles – to other places.
The realties have started slowly dawning on the civilians in Slavyansk. Most of the people do not believe that VVP (Putin) has let them down altogether. But many started to understand that their houses and kitchen gardens will have to be ruined and burned down for Russia to have grounds for intervening.
… Nevertheless I have several hundreds of local volunteers in reserve. They are not ready yet to be with us 24/7 (jobs, families, etc,), but they are ready to join us immediately in case of the attack. Nobody is going to run away.
—————————–
May 22nd, 2:07 (comments for events of May 21)
— We have had 80 more volunteers today.
The attack seems to be inevitable. About 100 APCs, trucks etc. have arrived to the forces near Slavyansk.
Avakov in person has come to inspect the forces. He is guarded by more people than I have under my command.
I know his location but my guns won’t reach there. That’s a pity.
Should I grieve or jubilate ? –
About half of the Ukie’s army have come to fight our poorly armed and poorly trained team. They are so afraid of us.
Really, Truth is a powerful weapon!

After Odessa everyone knows that mercy took wing and flew far, far away. It is important that the horrors be documented so that justice can be served ( it took Chile 40 years) sooner or later. As for Putin…he has access to excellent intelligence information and the Ukraine/Russian border is very porous. Plus, there is still a lot of wiggle in this situation.

@American Kulak:Reprogramming the missiles to run on GPS would seem simple
I am not so sure. The Ukie Tochkas are probably not export models and therefore their processor chip might not be able to read GPS signals. Also, I don’t believe that they would need much correction anyway and their inertial guidance should be enough. After all, they are no targets for them in these towns anyways. My guess is that they are either here to scare folks,or that they were on their way *out* from an area which you can bet is chock full of crosshairs on the maps in the Western strategic direction HQ of the Russian military.
Finally, these missiles could be old and while their solid fuel might still be good, God only know in what shape everything else around them is. Frankly, it is hard to believe for me that they would use them on these cities. Though I guess as a last ditch desperate attempt to provoke Russia maybe.
After all, we know what Psaki will say. She will compliment the Ukies for using ” expensive high precision weapons to minimize civilians casualties” or something equally crazy…..
Killers of the massacre in Odessa? They dont look friendly.

In reply to 22 May, 2014 02:48 about Strelkov receiving a few hundred more men:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KFGgKPrWfY&list=PLw613M86o5o7DfgzuUCd_PVwbOCDO472B
I watched this Vice video. You can tell the reporter is trying to hide his consternation that THIS is the best Ukraine can do in Mariupol and much of Donetsk region.
These “Donbass” battalion guys are hardly in better shape than Strelkov’s men, I see plenty of over 40s and even over 50s with pot bellies by the looks of them. Many seem to have even less military experience than the Afghansy if they have to waste time on Kalashnikov firing range training over many days as opposed to learning serious small unit tactics. The presence of the man who identifies himself as a former bank manager suggests the moneybags for this battalion is Ihor Kolomoyskyi and this guy could be a Privat Bank manager who decided to get more $$$ doing payroll for these fighters.
In other words, these guys might do ok as static defenders but there are probably good reasons even the UKR National Guard won’t give them RPGs or armored vehicles yet. They’re good at shouting at and bullying the local cops for refusing to die fighting ‘separatists’ for Ukraine, but I’m confident at least two or three of these cops they threatened to shoot dropped a line on these bastards and they will probably have to relocate from wherever these guys are staying near Mariupol soon for fear of getting hit and hit hard by Donbass militia.
If the Ukrainian attack fails once again in Slavyiansk, Avakov himself might not be safe from being sacked by the candy man when he wins the election. The NATO country mercs may also have to get much more directly involved in the fighting to make sure Kiev forces can competently attack, because these guys look like they’d get wiped out pretty fast in a real fight with Strelkov’s men.

Would someone explain it to me, please?
i cannot understand why Strelkov, the commander, is openly publishing on websites important data as number of fighters, weapons, etc.
if we can read those data, rest assured the banderistas can too.
so, what is he doing? Is he stupidly passing information to the enemy, after giving them a good propaganda push with the article on demoralization? The fascist-junta are surely delighted with it.
Or, on the contrary, could he be spreading dissinformation? (having in mind that the man seems to be a respected soldier, if I understood the story properly)

Crazy Ivan,
No, I’ve never lived under any kind of tyranny. I grew up in a place that had its problems, Lord knows, but worked pretty well if your skin was light enough, so I never experienced any (people of darker hues, otoh, have always lived under tyranny and state-sponsored terrorism). But, you see, you’re kind of making the point I was trying to, because I’ve seen the US change significantly for the worse over the generations — and very much in the direction of tyranny — to the point where young people now have no real concept of the rights and freedoms people used to have. Although our foreign policy began to go off the tracks when Truman let the Nazis in and turned the OSS creeps into the CIA, the real changes could be felt under Nixon, Carter, Reagan and Dubya (Obama’s just basically entrenched them). But they were done subtly enough, and we were lied to enough, and (let ourselves be) diverted enough, that it was kind of like a frog in ever-hotter water — and here we are and it ain’t over yet.
So yes, “20 years under such supervision on social scale and everyone would imbibe “ukrainism” living fully submerged in Ukrainian culture and indoctrination. New generation of 20 old year people having parents of Russian origin will be prod Ukrainians with deeply engraved nationalism in their souls. Engraved by media and education systems.”
Which is precisely why, to me, this military stuff is counter-productive — the putschists could have simply lied, temporized, offered vague assurances, and they could have succeeded without all the atrocities. Just like here.
In the age of satellites, masking troop movements is almost impossible. Russia is surely sharing this outstanding intel with the Resistance. Knowing where to best place your mobile reserve for a counter-attack is absolutely vital. Of course, the other side is looking at you too. But Partisans have proven time and again their ability to outwit eyes in the sky. Not preparing the assault zone with massed artillery fire prior to the rush allows armor-killing teams to command the area and defeat the rush. So far, the Ukies have not used proper tactics and have suffered the expected losses from not doing so. Burn the first 5-10 APCs and Tanks, and the rush will turn tail–the infantry breaking first. What the Partisans need is a cavalry company to attack the artillery emplacements and capture those weapons. Now that the Partisans know there’s no quarter, their combat ability will become ferocious. Just let those U-Tube videos get circulated a bit more.

Unknown gunmen attack a National Guard base in Volnovakha in Donetsk Oblast / People’s Republic and kill some 20 Ukrainian recruits. Initial sources claimed the attackers were from the People’s Militias but now Russian sources are spinning the story: the attackers were “punishers” paid by Kolomoyskyi.
I posted this summary on Facebook
The Donbass People’s Militia destroyed a National Guard unit in a early morning attack. Reports on the number of dead vary from 15 to 30. Russkaya Vesna cites local doctors and says 30 “visitors” were killed and another 35 people were hospitalized.

UPD 9: More detailed information on the Volnovaha
Today at about 4:30 in the morning was destroyed a roadblock, for Volnovaha.
Armored Vans (cash machines) and 2 jeeps drove up and killed 15 military and more than 30 wounded, burned Ukrainian armored vehicles. One of the armored cars could not go. After 3 hours flew 2 helicopters mi-24 and one mi-8 and shot from cannons and armored car in bounce, making 2 approach and attack produced despite the fact that were near their military. One military was wounded in the leg, also got into the ambulance. Armored Vans arrived from Greater-Anadolia and Dnepropetrovsk region.
Having shot from cannons and armored car, they cleaned all possible evidence of who actually was in the cash machine. This was Kolomoisky failure but it’s sorry the military who became the victims in this provocation.
The victims were Ukrainian military, draftees, the boys of eighteen. All of them were shot and their attackers killed/wounded were taken. Remained only Privat armored car, which was shot combat helicopters.
Recall that 2 days ago in Volnovaha was a round table, on which the military who said that they have no will to go and will not be carried out operations against the people, but they will remain to protect people from the Right sector and other who will threaten people’s lives.
They were going to go over to the DND, apparently so the boys have been a victim of provocation, because they would not follow orders to sweeps from Kiev.
And the armored car that had not time to leave, was a failure and to hide the evidence was applied combat helicopter.
This information was given personally by several eye witnesses.

to have a full view what how the young Ukrainian soldiers were annihilated with choppers making circles around burning machines.
“And that’s what Putin has given a damn, wanting united Ukraine without paying attention whoever was at the helm. Russian in Ukraine were only lost tribe for him. Disposable.”
I think you are wrong here.
Involving Russian Military would mean war at a larger scale.
Who knows who else would get involved.
Who knows what kind of weaponry would be used. Can you be sure nukes would not erupt?
Who knows how many thousands even millions more will die.
So, yes, I still think that Putin is right. Though Russia should be more active politically, and should take more proactive economical steps to stop the Western support for nazi
Without captions in English(or german or whatever) for what the people taking the video are saying, then the video means not much. It could be anything. It could be an attack by Uk on Donbass, it could be what crazy ivan says. Who knows. I wish someone would put translated substitles on these videos. If the people posting these are tyring to influence Western opinion, then putting videos up that could show anything really doesn’t help much.

You took the part from context.
Even if there was no coup in Ukraine, no “color revolution”, leaving Russians in Ukraine under ultra-nationalist pressure would bring new generation of young people who would identify themselves with Ukraine, both by mind, and by soul.
That’s why I wrote that for Mr. Putin (or Russian Federation politicians) the Russian brothers in Ukraine was treated as a lost tribe and there’s no need to bother their plight.
hat a difference we will be doing trades with strong, nationalistic Ukraine where there are already no Russians than have the constant problems with them – be it Russian TV access, cultural events or animosities between ultra-national Ukrainians and Russians exploding here and there from time to time.
Such was scenario for the Ukraine before the US together with Germany decided to make next move in global dominance (the US) and local dominance (Europe’s IV Reich of Germany).
quote “he sunlight shows right sector was in the building well before the main crowds got there, ergo the massacre was planned well in advance as we all know.
“
still Russia needs more excuse to kill anglosaxon agents and protect her own ?
There is a deep pscychological problem with Russian pscyche which wishes for the best but does never prepares for the worst.
this gullibility and lack of preparation coming from gullibility to belive ona nglosaxon liars and enemis is what defeats Russia in politicazl and economic materrs againa nd again. If you are not willing to use your military power either directly or indirectly then you will lsoe all power.
russia has betrayed her allies againa nd again.
look the anglos side even with the msot vile ally -even when it is proved that the allies burn people in hall the anglos side with tham. caompare with russia who abandoaned russians in ukraine , syrian ,libyan, iranians etc all because russia wished to please her anglos enemies.
Please someone translate the Russian subtitles in the Odessa video? Thanks.

I welcome you to the website below once more. There are new images of those Ukrainian soldiers murdered by mercenaries(?).
If you want to know more use Yandex translation.

Read my comment from 22 May, 2014 12:48 up in the page.
Be careful, the images came from war zone.
Командир украинской бригады: Нападавшие были проплачены (The commander of the Ukrainian brigade: the Attackers had been paid for)
http://lifenews.ru/news/133650
(Via Yandex.)
“The representative of the commander of troops attacked in the village of Grace, I am sure that was used against them mercenaries.
According to one of the officers commanding personnel of the 51st brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces, armed men arrived on may 22 on multiple machines and opened fire without warning. In the result of the attack killed 15 Ukrainian soldiers. At least 35 people were wounded.
These were mercenaries, trained, “thrashed” they professionally, ” says the commander attacked the 51st brigade. – Our opened fire in response. One car was burned. They eventually shot three infantry combat vehicles and two sanitary tablets, UAZ. According to witnesses, gathered in a bunch of guys that made those who could raise the arms over the head.
According to the Ukrainian military, the soldiers were taken by surprise, but managed to fight back:
– Our managed to open fire in response. One car was burned. The attackers fired from grenade launchers and machine guns. They were well prepared for the attack on the checkpoint. One hundred percent of the paid someone were. Anyone, I don’t know.
According to local residents, witnesses of the attack, unknown, who arrived at the cash machines of “Privat” and two jeeps opened fire on the Ukrainian military, previously refused to fire on civilians.
– Residents of Grace stood up to defend their homes. Ukrainian soldiers are ordered to suppress resistance. They refused to shoot at people, and eventually they were punished, ” said a source in the headquarters of self-defense.
According to the interlocutor, it was a retaliatory operation by the order of the oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky – owner of PrivatBank, known for the fact that he financed the protests on the square, and pay remuneration to the fighters of the “Right sector”.
The Ukrainian media, citing the Kyiv authorities report that the fire on the soldiers at the checkpoint in the Fertile opened militias.”
The western zionazi media and the quislings in Kiev all appear to be coordinating their propaganda about this attack. Obviously, the zionazis planned the attack to be one of their usual false flag ops. Perhaps to use as a pretext to start mass murdering civilians in the southeast.

18.10 GMT Rossiya 24 TV channel

They just screened the same images and films, from the sad place where the young soldiers were murdered, during explosions and choppers rides.
Ukie thugs got order to kill every soldiers who refuse to shoot both defenders and civilian population.
One heck of a confusing report by RT,
rt.com/news/160804-military-checkpoint-attack-ukraine/
Who has combat helicopters? ( more to the point the fuel and ammo)
It is suggested that they are pro Russian, but why use privat bank armored vehicles? Then later the articles hints at mercenaries..
The ground situation is getting very murky. Deja vu from Bosnia and Kosovo in the 1990s.

I believe you’re totally wrong. Russia under Putin does hope for the best but has very much been preparing for the worst. If that was not the case Russia would have been run over and fragmented by now.
Anon: “this gullibility and lack of preparation coming from gullibility to belive ona nglosaxon liars and enemis is what defeats Russia in politicazl and economic materrs againa nd again.”
Wrong again. Putin is very much in the know about these matters and have outspokenly said so.
Anonymous: “If you are not willing to use your military power either directly or indirectly then you will lsoe all power.”
Wrong again. If you go all out in the face of every provocation, then you’ll lose. But if you meaure each situation carefully and only use force when ebsolutely needed and in those case use overwhelming force, you’ll win. As Putin has demonstrated twice against Chechnya and Georgia.
Anonymous: “russia has betrayed her allies againa nd again.”
Where and when? They did lose Sebia but that was under the drunkard Jeltsin. When has Putin abandoned a friend?
Anonymous: “look the anglos side even with the msot vile ally -even when it is proved that the allies burn people in hall the anglos side with tham.”
Their actions have been the hallmark of hypocrisy. They care nothing for the Ukraine or Ukranians other than to use them as a bat to beat on Russia.
Anonymous: “caompare with russia who abandoaned russians in ukraine , syrian ,libyan, iranians etc all because russia wished to please her anglos enemies.”
#1 The russians in Ukraine are not abandoned.
#2 Syria was saved by Russian intervention and it would have been bombed without it.
#3 Libya, yes, there was a mistake made when believing in the no fly zone that instead turned into an outright war with a failed state as the result.
#4 Iran, hasn’t been hit yet. Mostly due to Iran’s own means of retaliation, but Russia certainly hasn’t sold Iran out in any way.
Russia doesn’t wish to appease her anglo enemies. But Russia doesn’t wish to fight them either. Russia wants fair affairs with the west and it can’t be blamed just because that has been ruled out by the west.
Russia will have to fight. But it’s still outgunned globally and will have to fight smart. Which means trying to win, or at least do well, in the propaganda war and to save hard power for when it’s deemed absolutely necessary – as in Crimea.
The BBC is running an odious propaganda piece – interviews with Banderistas in western Ukraine and Odessa that tries to deflect criticism of the Right Sector, paint them as patriots set against the evil forces of Russia, and turn upside down the Odessa massacre.
Trying to understand what is happening in the east without much success. Why use helicopters that only can belong to Kiev forces? Are they so fearless and arrogant that their murderous treachery won’t be discovered?
the sad and confused pessimist

Very good answers, Mark. Thanks.

The attack on the Ukrainian check point was done by Igor Kolomoisky .
Statement by Ukrainian army major: Meanwhile, a Ukrainian army major, who spoke to the survivors of the attack, told the BBC on condition of anonymity that he was sure that the attackers weren’t from the Donetsk self-defense forces, but were “mercenaries.”
An attack by the infamous mercenaries bought in to create a split between the Ukraine military and the eastern federalists.
Why mercenaries? The Right Sector would have no qualms killing but would not be able to handle the helicopters. The Ukraine military attacking their own – unlikely. Strelkov attacking the Ukrainians to create the split – no chance. This laves the mercenaries who would have the professional ground and helicopter skills.
Information is simultaneously disinformation.
The key is not data collection but data analysis.
Data analysis is most efficient by not mapping prejudgements, and having lateral methods.
This blog is monitored but that is not necessarily a disadvantage.
Why be annoyed?
Not only is information simultaneously disinformation, it is also data.

Re Nora 22 May@00:44
In any interaction the output is not determined by what any of the individual parties wish to accomplish; so what does Kiev wish to accomplish is not of much consequence in determining or even forecasting result.
It does have some minor relevance in tactics, but not in strategy.
These rules also apply to EU, NATO and US, as well as Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
Full spectrum dominance is also not possible since this is a linear notion in a world that is lateral.
The strategic advantage lies with those who are not blinded by linear notions.
