Yesterday I wrote “hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and settle for anything in the middle”. Today, and while it is way too early to make any kind of definitive judgments, I feel that I can say with some confidence that the worst has not happened and that, in fact, there are signs that the Ukrainian offensive has, so far, yielded no useful results.
I have not heard from Juan or Gleb, but I have been carefully parsing the news coming out of Novorussia in the Russian media and, more importantly, in the Russian social media. They all concur on the following:
- The Ukrainian attacks have used massive but non-discriminate firepower. Either this is a deliberate junta policy to terrorize the civilian population and thereby culturally cleanse the Donbass, or the Ukie forces are extremely poorly trained. Whatever may be the case, there are plenty of civilians casualties, but the effect of this firepower on the resistance forces has not been as bad as one could have feared.
- Both sides have had comparatively losses, though the attackers suffered much more due to several successful ambushes by the resistance which drew the attacking forces into “fire sacks” and, basically, wiped them out.
- The Ukies seems to have tested the resistance by doing what is called in Russian “reconnaissance by fire” where you engage a force primarily to gage its response and find its weaker spots. Apparently no such spots were found (yet).
- The airspace over Novorussia seems to be very well defended and only in one day the Ukies lost at least one SU-25 close air support and one SU-24 bomber aircraft. Other sources speak of several more aircraft hit, including one Mi-24 attack helicopter shot down and one twin engine aircraft hit, but which managed to fly away.
- The main Ukrainian effort seems to be concentrated in re-taking control of the border between Novorussia and Russia, but their only success so far has been the re-taking of an abandoned border post which the resistance did not even bother defending.
- No other significant gain or change in positions has been reported.
Still, the humanitarian situation is extremely bad, especially in Slaviansk which has been viciously shelled and bombed and which has lost all electrical power as a result of these strikes.
There are persistent rumors that the junta is about to begin using the OTR-21 Tochka operational tactical rocket against the resistance. Maybe. They sure have them, but the problem will be targeting. The Ukies have no satellites and their aircraft-base reconnaissance capabilities appear to be minimal. While it is possible that Uncle Sam will provide them with targeting data, the resistance forces just do not provide the kind of high-value targets which would justify the use of such advanced missiles. My prediction is that if the Ukies engage their OTR-21s it will be for a pure terror attack aimed at flattening some well-known and therefore mostly empty building.
I have also noticed somewhat of a change in tone in the western corporate media. If the EU zombies are, again, threatening Russia with more (probably totally symbolic) sanctions, the western media seems to become aware of the plight of the civilian population of the Donbass.
In conclusion I will repeat that while the initial reports seem to indicate that the Ukie offensive is going absolutely nowhere, it is way too early to rejoice, especially since we have now way of assessing how close either side is to its breaking point.
The Saker
My guess. ‘Point’ missiles will be used against civilian targets: Power plants and water stations. They will go for hospitals (West propaganda is covering their recent crimes with shelling hospitals) and factories too. Terrorizing common citizens is their prime target.
They can’t force militia’s forces to leave battleground at this point.
Regarding targeting – there are concerns that Novorossia’s defence units are infiltrated by junta agents. See this one: http://el-murid.livejournal.com/1901358.html for instance. Or recent stange clash in the Donetsk MVD building.
From observing the videos of the Donesk City Interior Ministerial Building takeover after five hours firefight, as reported—one of the militia leaders had to be a “volunteer”. Several others with him seemed to be “volunteers”. With them were the militia, easily discernible as less geared up, less cohesive, obviously recently just civilians.
The Volunteers looked to me replicas of SOF men. Big, strong, authoritative, comfortable leading and directing. Also with them was the top political man, the face of the Luhansk, Aleksandr Boroday.
I believe he would have Russian protection and the images told me he did.
Friends, if you use your mind a little and check the source material you will see “Green Men” leading the militia in various places.
I feel good about yesterday. The Kiev onslaught is yet to move forward. If they try to seal the border, they will need a thousand APC’s. Those Ukies don’t like standing out in the open unless they are ten miles away on Karachun Mt. Along the border, they will have their backs to Russia. Not very comfortable.
I said yesterday in a post that you won’t easily find a General who would take the Ukie Army right now.
General Giap, North VietNam, would use artillery in a siege. He did it to the French at Dien Bien Phu and to the US at Khe Sanh. But those were military vs military. Even in Hue, the North did not use heavy artillery. It was wall to wall, house to house. Ukies are too frightened to confront direct small arms fire. Imagine if they were be hit with Grads and bombs.
They cannot take ground. They snipe. They mortar. They bomb, but lose planes when they do.
They stand off and fire missiles.
You wouldn’t even know they were fighting for their own country. They have no patriotism. Guns at their backs, and their families threatened at home should they retreat or surrender.
As for Right Sector/Nat. Guard: I suspect that Putin and the Spetsnaz Colonels on the ground are prepared to spring an obliteration of those criminal units. Of course, they will take some prisoners who will be used in the legal case to document the crimes ordered and paid for by Kolomoyski and Kiev.
Actually, real Russian success requires some more war not less. The longer it goes, the deeper into the quagmire that destroys Kiev, traps its forces, exposes the evil.
Resistance rebellions are horrible to endure. But the suffering will bring a resolution that strengthens Russia, weakens the Hegemon, and delivers Novorossiya from Odessa Eastward to Mother Russia.
By the way, in the video yesterday, one of the militia was a young blond woman. Women who are staying behind are arming up.
So how many refugees can Russia handle? 2,000,000? It seems logical that the goal for those who control Kiev is to ethnically cleanse the Donbass for starters.
Saker,
If you recall Uncle Sam gave the Ustashe Sat intel, etc., which they used to knock out all the Krajina Serb Arty positions, etc., during “Operation Storm” & ethnically cleansed the Serbs.

“I have also noticed somewhat of a change in tone in the western corporate media. If the EU zombies are, again, threatening Russia with more (probably totally symbolic) sanctions, the western media seems to become aware of the plight of the civilian population of the Donbass.”
Boy, are you wrong on that one. Get a grip. The western corporate media has maintained to this hour a monolithic support, encouragement, and total absolute one-sidedness to its reporting about Ukraine. There has been no change at all. Every single solitary mention of civilian casualties has been phrased to either directly blame Novorussia or imply that they are at least half to blame. It is a wonder to behold, a wonder which I am fascinated to analyze. Obviously, the main reason for this phenomenon is the raison d’être for the entire operation: regime change in Russia. But what is much more interesting is why every single writer is on board. The reasons for that in my opinion are multifaceted and in some ways blameless, but the result is catastrophic.
Headline I saw yesterday on one of those huge outdoor digital news displays strewn all over Bay Street (Canada’s Wall Street):
Ukraine Strikes Rebel Strongholds; Putin Grumbles
And that’s the infantilizing doubleplus good news from MiniTrue about the latest attack.
How can one fight an information war when the target population is subjected to such manichaean, simplistic and potent WMDs (Weapons of Mass Delusion)?
In reply to a comment, it is crystal clear that Russia wants this to go on as long as possible… or longer.
Yes, that is torture for civilians in the area, and I hope that Russia is accommodating refugees to the max (I am sure they are).
But Ukraine just signed a pact with the EU. How many other EU countries have open warfare taking place on their soil? Does the EU really feel so strongly about the sanctity of the “election” of Poroshenko and the blameless innocence of his supporters (in the US as well as Ukraine) that it can turn a blind eye to war in its bosom? I mean I know the EU is a modern paradise worth preserving and extending at any cost, but isn’t this taking “austerity” a little too far?
I’ve read some misleading statemtnts in the MSM to the effect that all claims of a strong neo-nazi presence in the Kiev government are false because those parties only got about 2 per cent of the vote.
It is my understandng that the Svoboda party is still in charge of the Ministry of the Interior, and that there are other extreme right elements in the government, in other words, the composition of the government does not reflect at all the results in the elections.
Can anyone point to a site where these things can be easily checked? I mean the composition of the current government by political affiliation.
I wonder why Putin is allowing Hell on Earth for East Ukraine. ONE single chirurgical hit of the Russian Army is all the Nazi Junta would need to understand they reall have to negotiate. No need to invade. Just hit them really hard only once…. For some misterious reason, Putin prefers Hell on Earth. His answer to the new round of murders is more of the same: more senseless empty talk-talk-talk with the nazis… today in Berlin. Very saddening

Same as in Czechoslovakia in 1946-1948. Being one party in a coalition government gives them at least one Cabinet seat, and you always want to ask for (and insist on) the “power” seats of military (army) and Interior (police). Let others think they have power with “soft” ministries.
Check out this video of an artillery strike in what is clearly a residential neighborhood. Probably a mortar, not a heavy shell. Then recall the images of little Paulina being carried, of the other bodies torn to pieces we have seen. This is how it happens.
The Jen Psaki explanation is it is Russia and Putin to blame. “We wouldn’t have to kill the children and women and grandmothers if they’d just kill themselves,” she explained. “Ethnic cleansing is a precondition to lowering carbon footprint of Russians. It’s about Climate Change,, not genocide, silly.” (I would call this black humor, but that’s politically incorrect these days. Sarcasm will do.)

ON MSM SEMANTICS (A WONDER TO BEHOLD):
The resumption of the government’s offensive comes after the cessation of a 10-day ceasefire that Poroshenko alleges was repeatedly violated by rebels, who he says used the period to arm, regroup, and launch sporadic attacks on Ukrainian forces. At least 27 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in clashes following the June 10 ceasefire announcement.
HERE FP (ESTABLISHMENT BULLHORN, FOREIGN POLICY, JULY 2 2014) RELAYS POROSHENKO’S CLAIM ABOUT ‘REBEL’ VIOLATIONS BUT TAKES NO SIDE EXPLICITLY; FAUX NEUTRAL DUBITATIVE MODE; HOWEVER, THE ONLY EVIDENCE PROVIDED SUGGESTS PROROSHENNKO IS RIGHT (At least 27 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in clashes). IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT, HOWEVER, BY SLEIGHT OF HAND (I.E. UNANNOUNCED), FP CHANGES REGISTER AND PRESENTS AS ASSUMED AND BEYOND ALL DOUBT – “In response”, ASSERTIVE MODE – THAT THE ‘REBELS’ ACTUALLY DID VIOLATE THE CEASEFIRE:
In response, Ukrainian forces deployed heavy weaponry, including artillery strikes near Slovyansk (…)
PLUS -> SUSPICIOUSLY VAGUE ACCOUNT OF CIVILIAN DEATHS: In Kramatorsk, four people in minibus were killed amidst shelling of the town. – I.E. THESE CIVILIANS WERE UNLUCKY BECAUSE IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME (amidst shelling of the town) – ERGO IT IS RULED OUT THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN TARGETED.
Look, each of these reports misses the point. NATO and the USA will ensure wave after wave after wave after of attacks against the Humans of Novorussia- with each wave being more vicious and terroristic than the last.
At first the attackers will be ‘cannon fodder’ and ‘unwilling’ conscripts and career army people with little sympathy for the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev. But this WILL change. Sooner, rather than later, NATO will gather an army of well motivated ‘veterans’- mercenaries recruited from across the NATO empire, and ever well trained/armed neo-Nazis.
NATO and the USA try to use the “boiling of the frog” method in such conflicts. They ramp up the level of atrocities quite slowly, so the zionist controlled mainstream media can imply that the atrocities are a result of vicious “brother against brother” fighting, rather than deliberate strategy. See Syria for a perfect example of this tactic at play.
NATO wants a perpetual firestorm all across this flank of Russia. Remember that the ex-Soviet States that border Russia all have populations in favour of de-militarised zones between Russia and West Europe, whereas NATO and the USA are determined to place regimes into power that will allow NATO first-strike forces to be installed hard against Russia’s borders.
Putin wants to believe he can still do business with the West, betrayed as he is by truly despicable advice from Tony Blair (the monster who also has the ear of Obama). But wherever one ventures in the mainstream (and George Soros controlled alternative) media, one finds the message that Russia is seeking to rebuild the USSR by planning invasions into all the old Soviet European nations.
This laughable (and illogical) nonsense is automatically believed by all the casual viewers/readers which equals 90%+ of the general public. And believe me, this is a numbers game. NATO and the USA need the (reluctant) hearts and minds of the people of the West, and by controlling the ‘message’ so ruthlessly, they get this support.
Under such circumstances, Russia cannot afford to play a ‘political’ game. In the court of public opinion, they lack all the tools required to win this way. No, Russia simply needs to consider what is morally right, and act decisively- praying that Humanity can still recognise the difference between good and evil.
Of course Russia fears going into Novorussia will give the excuse to the USA to invade Syria, but sadly nothing can save Syria- that which was an important part of the Old Roman Empire is undeniably in the absolute sphere of the current West. Sadly the “this is yours, and that is mine” thinking will resurrect the old ‘cold war’ logic, but with China now a true super-power, the West is now effectively a much ‘smaller’ player.
Putin must understand that no matter what he chooses to do, the West will continue to sink ever further beneath the ruthless control of evil zionist monsters- utterly vile creatures that will use any method, no matter how wicked, to master their own populations to the smallest details of their lives. Thus the West must be considered as ‘insane’, an impossibly violent, well armed ‘madman’ that, at best, the rest of the World can only hope to contain.
The longer Putin waits to enter Novorussia, the worse things get for the entire planet.

Saker:
I have also noticed somewhat of a change in tone in the western corporate media.
Interesting article along these lines in The Financial Times today, page 9, in opinion.
“Moscow’s task is to build a nation not an empire” by Dmitri Trenin, director of the Carnegie Moscow Center.
I’ll summarize:
1) Russia must drop the idea of Ukraine (or Moldova or Georgia) being part of the Eurasian Union.
2) Russians and Ukrainians are not one people.
3) “rather than worrying about what it sees as its losses, Moscow should consolidate its gains.”
4) Russia has Crimea and should work to make it into a region on par with Sochi.
5) Russia must “keep Crimea’s diverse population happy”
6) Russia’s “main strategic interest lies in keeping Ukraine out of Nato … the prospects are good. Washington has to balance its global commitments, from the South China Sea to iraq, and Ukraine is nowhere near the top. Berlin and Paris are adamant neither ukraine nor Georgia and Moldova should joint. London sees no reason to extend the borders … to Russia’s heartland”
7) Russia must drop support for the rebellion, adjust relations with Ukraine and develop a strategy for all of Ukraine. Russia should “create a fully sustainable defence industry within its own borders” and adjust trade relations with Ukraine.
8) Ukrainian refugees coming to Russia should be the vanguard of Russians from all over former Soviet Union to help build a bigger and younger workforce. “Rather than gathering further lands, Moscow needs to gather people.” Russia should focus on aerospace/defense workers from Ukraine who will be surplused in a Ukraine that enters into the EU.
9) Russia must “transition from an empire to a continent sized nation state. While it needs more people, it does not need more land.”
10) Eurasian Union must not replicate EU, but instead be modeled on NAFTA. “Economic interest, rather than common ethnicity or shared history” must connect the EAU.
11) The setback in relations with the West must be turned into a plus. Russia must not turn inward and become “fortress Russia” and must avoid becoming a raw material appendage of China. Russia must “work towards becoming a civic nation, a rules-based polity and modern economy”
I view this as a peace offer from The Powers That Be in the Atlantacist Community. The conditions may be summarized:
1) Russia keeps Crimea
2) EU gets Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia
3) Ukraine keeps Donbass and Novorossiya
4) No NATO expansion – Ukraine remains a buffer
5) Ukraine defense industry and personnel will be relocated to Russia
6) EAU is not to be turned into a supranational entity.
7) Russia must avoid further entanglement with China.
8) Russia must maintain trade ties and supply of materials to the West
9) Russians in the Baltics, Ukraine. and Moldova will be facilitated to move to Russia
10) The West will refrain from further interference in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan (at least while it works on digesting Ukraine, Modova, and Georgia), provided Russia promises no political integration of these states with Russia
Reading further between the lines, the West still believes that it has an enormous prize won in Ukraine even without Crimea and even giving up the technical labor force of Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkov, and Donbass, and even guaranteeing neutrality of Ukraine. This tells me that the prize of Ukraine is the people and natural resources, not the items the west will give up to Russia.
I also note that the proposed settlement here is to restore the status quo of the German victory treaty in 1918 at Brest-Litovsk. The West gets Poland, Finland, Baltics, Ukraine, and Georgia, while Russia retains Belarus, remaining Caucusus, and Central Asia.
“There are persistent rumors that the junta is about to begin using the OTR-21 Tochka operational tactical rocket against the resistance. Maybe. They sure have them, but the problem will be targeting.”
The anglo/zionists have their banderivtsy use the bulk their rocket and artillery against civilian areas. They don’t need great accuracy to hit a town centre of residential area. With the large warheads, Tochka would probably be thrown into that terror mix.
“I have also noticed somewhat of a change in tone in the western corporate media.”
I haven’t, but I don’t follow it, either.
Anon 2:16
It is my understandng that the Svoboda party is still in charge of the Ministry of the Interior
I’ve said this before, but it needs to be repeated. Svoboda was never given any important posts besides the Ministry of Defense, which they lost after losing Crimea.
All important ministries are in the hands of Tymoshenko’s “Fatherland” Batkivshchyna Party, including the Minister of the Interior, and many of the important personages in Ukraine are from Dnipropetrovsk and form what was the political opposition of this wealthy and important region which had been in the control of the Party of Regions and Communists – Tymoshenko, Turchinov, Kolomoisky, Yarosh. Svodboda and the Galacians and Volhynians are the cannon fodder for the cynical power ploy being waged by the Dnipropetrovsk opposition as they fight to gain control of Donbass and its riches (read Akhmetov and his empire, wich was the real power behind Yanukovich).
It seems the TV tower at Karachun has been taken out. It is not clear what happened. The folks in that area seem to have identified the cause. They still have a sense of humor, in spite of what is happening.
Meanwhile, in the north east of Lugansk oblast, a Uke air defense unit, near the Russian border, has been attacked. It is not clear whether it was destroyed. I can’t find an obvious radar site on Google earth, so was it mobile? Note that this is over 150 km away from the onslaughts in the south. Perhaps a Russian speaker could check the report to get an accurate view?
To escape the anglo/zionist censorship, Voice of Sevastopol and “Colonel Cassad” have created their own web site and video hosting site.
Запуск CASSAD.NET (Start CASSAD.NET)
http://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/1644271.html (trans) http://translate.yandex.net/tr-url/ru-en.ru/colonelcassad.livejournal.com/1644271.html
“As it was promised earlier, officially launched the beta version of our site http://cassad.net/, which is the main site for our Information-Analytical Center “Cascad” (which is registered as mass media), where I (and not only me) now I can if anything to write all what I wanted without censorship restrictions.
Now all bulk materials will be released in the first place there, and then be placed on “the Mouthpiece of Totalitarian Propaganda”, which, as before, will publish everything that is not forbidden by censorship + I will receive the best materials with the new site.
Naturally, as our website is now independent of the laws of the state of California, we will be there to put all the materials about our humanitarian operations, to help the volunteers to get to Donbass, raise funds in aid to refugees and so on. This resource will focus on Analytics, with minimization of propaganda for this purpose will be to manage our project “the Voice of Sevastopol” http://www.voicesevas.ru/, which focuses on information warfare and propaganda against Kiev junta. The main goal of the new resource is the core of our system and creating the main site for me, my colleagues and our allies.
Plus, since we are on YouTube blocked, we decided not to butt heads with the American censorship, but just launched our own video hosting http://cassad.net/tv/, where you can gather all the videos from our channels on YouTube, plus a separate assignments war crimes and video 18+, that was not to be put on YouTube for censorship restrictions. In the next couple of days we perezalit there all our videos, after which there appears registration and commenting system. The resource will focus on military videos and war crimes.
All this is currently in beta and sites visually in the near future will suffer some visual changes, plus they will be constantly added new functionality is improved “Military Marker” (there’s another 2-3 days), the system alerts the information staff, multimedia gallery, additional blogs + new authors (top contributors to “the Voice of Sevastopol” get on “Cascade” personal column with the right of publication). In the long term will be a forum for a narrow circle of trusted persons personally approved Bloody Gibney. In General, follow the announcements. Also on the site is a redirect from http://cassad.ru The site is optimized for viewing on mobile devices (in the future it is possible to issue individual applications).
Therefore, all readers of “a Mouthpiece of Totalitarian Propaganda” and “Voices of Sevastopol” invite to explore our new ambitious project, which I hope will be able to surpass in terms of popularity already held “the Voice of Sevastopol”, which recently topped 700 000 visitors in fact. Needless to say, we invite to us all who were subjected to censorship persecution at various venues and first of all in LJ.
Let’s go!”

Firstly, normal folks in US don’t want war with anyone — especially not Russia. The MSM can’t convince the Muppets to support moar ZOG bankers wars. I listen to C-span in the morning. The callers have figured out they’ve been snookered by ALL politicians. It is NOT a good time for MSM shills.
At the end of the day the “West” lost Crimea and Novorussia. They lost because of over-reach and hubris and deceit. And they’re losing Americans just as fast. Which is why an “event” is on the table. An “event” will turn MORE Americans toward Putin. It won’t be able to pull another 911 scam. The blow-back against Anglo-Zionist cartel cut-outs will be epic. Tick tock.

Let me translate the quotation:
11) The setback in relations with the West must be turned into a plus. (On Western rules.)
Russia must not turn inward and become “fortress Russia” and must avoid becoming a raw material appendage of China. (On Western rules not to strengthen China.)
Russia must “work towards becoming a civic nation (on Western conditions with Western democrap shit), a rules-based polity (on Western conditions being curtsy to them) and modern economy (on Western conditions, it is subjugate economy and financial institutions)”

Susan Abulhawa on the “tough love” the Palestinians receive from Bibi Netanyahu:
Since the teens went missing from Gush Etzion, a Jewish-only colony in the West Bank, Israel has besieged the 4 million Palestinians who already live under its thumb, storming through towns, ransacking homes and civil institutions, conducting night raids on families, stealing property, kidnapping, injuring, and killing. Warplanes were dispatched to bomb Gaza, again and repeatedly, destroying more homes and institutions and carrying out extrajudicial executions. Thus far, over 570 Palestinians have been kidnapped and imprisoned, most notably a Samer Issawi, the Palestinian who went on a 266-day hunger strike in protest of a previous arbitrary detention. At least 10 Palestinians have been killed, including at least three children, a pregnant woman, and a mentally ill man. Hundreds have been injured, thousands terrorized. Universities and social welfare organizations were ransacked, shut down, their computers and equipment destroyed or stolen, and both private and public documents confiscated from civil institutions.

That’s a VERY good point you’ve made. So far Poroshenko’s
big threat has turned out to be more bombardments, but they are still losing aircraft any time they attempt to establish air superiority and then they draw off. Ukies are not motivated or tranined. This is how far their kind of loud mouthed, Right Sector – Saint Yulia style hyperbole, however violent and hateful, will take them. They aren’t actually willing to die storming defended SDF positions
Israel, part II
Medialens on the double standard applied to Israeli and Palestinian victims, as a reflection of Western affiliation:
An extensive list of news stories and video reports appeared on the BBC website describing how Israel is ‘united in grief’, alongside stories titled, ‘Netanyahu: “Wide and deep chasm” between Israel and enemies’, ‘Thousands gather for Israeli teenagers’ funerals’, ‘Grief and anger after Israel teenager deaths’, and ‘On road where teens vanished’.
These all strongly, and rightly, expressed the broadcaster’s empathy with the fact that something terrible had happened. But when has the BBC ever expressed this level of concern for the deaths of Palestinian teenagers? The question matters because consistent empathic bias has the effect of humanising Israelis for the public and dehumanising Palestinians. This is an extremely lethal form of media propaganda with real consequences for human suffering.
The bias is also confirmed by hard numbers:
The missing, ugly reality is that over the last 13 years, on average, one Palestinian child has been killed by Israel every 3 days. Since the outbreak of the second Intifada in September 2000, 1,523 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel’s occupation forces. Over the same time period, 129 Israeli children have been killed. Thus, the ratio of Palestinian children to Israeli children killed is more than ten to one.

Israel, part III
Franklin Lamb on the generous and altruistic offer from Israel to support the “moderates”, so that the bloodshed will never ever stop:
Israel offered on June 26 to help “moderate” Arab nations who may feel threatened by the lightning land grabbing offensive by Islamic militants in Iraq. As its foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman, an arch Zionist Islamophobe and Arabphobe, met with Secretary of State John Kerry in Paris, he reportedly talked sweet about some Arabs and told Kerry that “the extremists currently operating in Iraq and Syria will try to challenge the stability in the entire Gulf region, first of all in Kuwait.” A statement from his office added that “Israel could provide effective and reliable assistance to moderate Arab states who are dealing with extremists.”
[…]
Israeli officials and AIPAC are arguing to Washington that Israeli interests were converging with moderate Arab nations and “both sides should be dealing with the threat of Iran, world jihad and al-Qaida, as well as the spill-over of conflicts in Syria and in Iraq to neighboring countries.” The Israeli embassy issued a statement on June 26, “Today, there is a basis for the creation of a new diplomatic-political structure in the Middle East.” Yet another ‘New Middle East’, one wonders?

‘Ukrainians not fleeing to Russia but just visiting their grannies’ – US State Department spokesperson
http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_07_02/Ukrainians-arent-fleeing-to-Russia-but-just-visiting-their-grannies-US-State-Department-spokesperson-8554/
“…US State Department deputy spokesperson Mary Harf has questioned the validity of UN estimates of refugee flows from Ukraine to Russia.
She expressed doubt that the number of Ukrainian refugees seeking refuge in Russia had indeed reached 110,000 as stated in a report by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. That doesn’t seem to be true, Harf said. She assumed that the so-called refugees were Ukrainians who traveled to Russia to visit their relatives.
The report doesn’t specify that 110,000 people indeed fled to Russia but only says that 110,000 people crossed the border over a certain period of time, so it may well be that they are visiting their grannies and will come back soon, Harf argued…” [ http://www.hebrewsurnames.com/HARF ]
‘White Book’ of human rights’ violations in Ukraine is ‘invitation to act’ – Moscow
http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_07_02/White-Book-of-human-rights-violations-in-Ukraine-is-invitation-to-act-Moscow-0565/
“”We have seen reaction to the White Book yet,” Dolgov said. “Some partners are trying to present all this as a propaganda product. But we have facts, and facts cannot be regarded as propaganda.”
The diplomat said the renewed edition of the book would cover the period from early April to the middle of June of this year and would include “probably the most shocking humanitarian crimes”, reports ITAR-TASS.”
Facebook mind control experiments linked to DoD research on civil unrest
http://rt.com/usa/169848-pentagon-facebook-study-minerva/
“…Facebook’s experiment on over half-a-million unsuspecting users has taken a new twist with the revelation that a researcher connected to a Department of Defense-funded program to use the military to quell civil unrest also participated in the study.
When word hit the internet that Facebook was essentially conducting Orwellian thought policing, an electronic outpouring of condemnation greeted the company that Mark Zuckerberg built. One of the study’s authors, Adam KRAMER, took to his own Facebook account to offer more of an explanation than an apology for the secret study.
The attack on Facebook looks set to worsen as it was discovered that one of the authors of the platform’s mind study, Jeffrey T. Hancock of Cornell University, also received funding from the Pentagon’s so-called Minerva Research Initiative to conduct a similar study entitled ‘Modeling Discourse and Social Dynamics in Authoritarian Regimes’.
The Pentagon-funded Minerva program provides cash awards to everyone from “single investigators to large multi-university consortia,” according to its website and includes “researchers from 32 academic institutions, including six non-US universities and four industry or non-profit organizations.”
The program will disperse around six million dollars in 2014 and $17 million over the next three years.
Hancock’s description page at Cornell University cites “psychological and interpersonal dynamics of social media, deception, and language” as his research and academic interests.
Hancock’s study appeared in 2009, one year before the US Army War College’s Strategic Institute warned in a different study, and in the wake of the global financial meltdown, that the United States could experience massive civil unrest from a series of crises it termed “strategic shock.”…
Russian Deputy PM pledges support to Moldova’s breakaway region
http://rt.com/politics/169928-rogozin-moldova-transdniester-russia/
“The Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU is violating the basic rights of people living in the breakaway Republic of Transdniester, claims Deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin as he promised “full-fledged support” to the region.
The Deputy PM explained that before Moldova’s association with the EU Transdniester had been selling its products mostly to European countries and now this option will be lost. However, Russia will open its markets to the republic and provide other support, he said.
Russia’s objective is to ensure decent living standards for Transdniester residents, Rogozin stated.
The promises were made at a Tuesday press conference after government officials from Russia and the Transdniester Republic signed a number of memorandums on cooperation in trade, economy, education and culture…”
US commander’s accusations toward Russia aimed at justifying ceasefire break by Ukraine – Moscow
http://rt.com/news/line/2014-07-02/#65352
“The accusations by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, US General Philip Breedlove, who blamed Russia for destabilizing the situation in Ukraine, are aimed at justifying the breaking of the ceasefire in southeast Ukraine by the country’s army, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday. “We think it is absolutely unacceptable when a military representative of such a high rank gets involved in an information and propaganda campaign by spreading false information about the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border,” Itar-Tass quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich as saying. He added that no convincing proof of the Russian military buildup along the border with Ukraine was presented.”

“
Beautifully put. I am glad to see someone else here see through this kind shit.

“Actually, real Russian success requires some more war not less. The longer it goes, the deeper into the quagmire that destroys Kiev, traps its forces, exposes the evil. “
Someone else said they always feel better after reading one of your comments. You certainly seem to make sense of this “fog of war” but the “war” part of the fog, as you mentioned, is and is gonna remain for some time so simply Godawful for the people there that I always end up feeling more optimistic but also more horrified! sigh.
But yes, you’re right. sigh again
Andrew,
What a peace offer. Kind of like heads I win/tails you lose — or Poroshenko’s “ceasefires”.
Such a deal; how could Russia possibly turn it down… Especially that last point, I mean, you know we’ve been so good at keeping our word…
And this may not be the time but your chronology on the adoption of a Ukrainian identity goes completely counter to the personal experience of a family of Galician landowners I happen to know extremely well. Long story short, they came here in the early twentieth century already considering themselves Ukrainian, a son proudly fought Germany in WWII and none of them, ever, had any use whatever for the Bandera types fostered by the USG and Republican Party.
Also, it’s Galicia, not Galacia, which is nowhere near the way it’s pronounced.
Another set of heroes in Donbass. The guys from the public water utilities who repair water pipes (2.5 m diameter) repeatedly damaged by Ukie artillary. The men are “good guys, don’t talk about politics, but live according to the principle of ‘do what you must, come what may’ …”.
This sort of spirit cannot be destroyed!
Is Poroshenko already a marked man?
Alex Serdyuk writes “The new President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is rapidly losing rating. Today in Kiev, many believe that he will stay in the main chair of the country up to the middle of autumn. In this situation, the Washington frantically looking for candidates that you can rely on in case of another coup in Ukraine. Recently the press of the United States drew attention to Dnepropetrovsk. For several months it is ruled by the notorious Russian oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskiy”
So is Kolomoisky next in line? That would fit US standard m/o precisely – ‘he may be an sob, but at least he is our sob’.
The Ukie game plan in the east is coming clear.
We know the IMF loans are conditional on a united country. (That strikes me as an interesting thing. It is almost as if the Donbass issue was expected from the get-go). We know the junta has offered property in the east to anyone willing to fight there and remove the so-called ‘moskals’. The Ukies are deliberately targeting civil infrastructure and even people’s houses. I suspect their intention is for the occupants to ‘freely’ move to Russia ‘where they belong’. A depopulated area, or an area populated by insiders, will make the hoped-for fracking scam to proceed.
Another factor is that the EU will probably provide loads of money for reconstruction. The blogger Rusty mood mentions a possible 1.5 billion euros may appear. That would provide a tempting target for looting by connected oligarchs.
The refugees from Donbass should file refugee status asap, assuming such a thing is possible. If their status isn’t recognized, then they won’t have standing when the Ukrainian junta states that they are ‘infiltrators’ or that they left the country of their own free will.
There has been a ‘Lugansk’ type massacre in Kondrashova. Several Su-25s seemed to have flow along the line of a village street and carefully targeted the houses on both sides. Dozens have been flattened or set alight. There are several horribly mutilated victims. The only consolation is that 2 of the planes were shot down.

It is ALREADY not important. There are forces of evil which has caught my Ukraine. There are those who officiates. Henchmen-formerly known as those at the tail goes to shit to clean up. Nora:
And this may not be the time but your chronology on the adoption of a Ukrainian identity goes completely counter to the personal experience of a family of Galician landowners I happen to know extremely well. Long story short, they came here in the early twentieth century already considering themselves Ukrainian, a son proudly fought Germany in WWII and none of them, ever, had any use whatever for the Bandera types fostered by the USG and Republican Party.
I will simply point out the following again. The nearly 100,000 Galician and Carpathian immigrants to America converted by St. Alexis Toth to Orthodoxy between 1891 and 1917 joined the “Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church in America” (forerunner of the Orthodox Church in America) and adhere still to a Russian identity. The later group of Carpathians in America who formed their own Orthodox Church in 1938 (!) called the Church the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church. They all certainly could have used the work Ukrainian had they thought of themselves as such. There had after all been formed in 1918 the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of Canada (the first Church with Ukrainian in its name), the notorious Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church had been formed in Ukraine in 1921 and a Ukrainian Orthodox Church in America in 1929. And in contrast to this, there is also Bishop Alexander Nemolsky (from Volyn) stating at this time “the Ukrainians are not a separate people nor a nation but only one of the Russian political parties.”
The use of Ukrainian in the liturgy is a development mainly from the 1950’s and 1960’s in both Orthodoxy and Catholicism. Previously they had stuck with Slavonic and there were only limited use of Ukrainian.
Political parties show the same thing. The Rusyn parties in Czechslovakia in the 1920’s was the ” Russo chliborobska partija – Russian Peasant’s Party” and “Ruska khliborobska partiia – the Russian Agrarian Party”. The main Rusyn party in Austrian Galicia up to 1918 was “Russkaia narodnaia partii – the Russian People’s Party”. These folks were outside Russia and could certainly have called themselves Ukrainians had they thought that was their name – the “opressive” Tsar had no power over their freedom to call themselves Ukrainians. Same goes for all those west Ukrainians in America who founded “Russian” Orthodox Churches. They didn’t know they were supposed to be Ukrainians, even as late as 1938.
I would suggest that the family you mention is suffering from selective memory, where current opinions and identities are transferred into the past where they did not actually exist.
To substantiate for his thesis on the importance of strategic communications, Vejonis said the ongoing conflict in Ukraine highlighted what role public awareness campaigns played in getting advantages in armed conflict these days.”

It would be really interesting to know what he wanted to say.
If he is just worried that Latvians are not brainwashed enough, well, I can dispel his fears.
We had to destrooy the country in order to save it!
Andrew,
You’re full of it.
The people I’m talking about have been dead for years. I’m not talking about how their kids or grandchildren or great-grandchildren or great-great-grandchildren view the family history — I’m talking about *them*, and what they considered themselves to be.
Sorry, but this isn’t the first time you’ve spouted a lot of seemingly factual information that falls apart for anyone with any real knowledge of a situation. Their memory of their identity and WWII experience was real; it’s yours which seems on so very many occasions to be, shall we say, pointedly selective. It does make me wonder about you sometimes — and then other times you actually do make sense, so I’ll give you credit for that. But I’ve always got to scrutinize your words very, very carefully. And that’s kind of a pain, you know?
Something Poroshenko should think about:
“It is very dangerous to be a friend of the United States.”
General Manuel Noriega of Panama
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manuel_Noriega
I suppose the man was corrupt and made profitable deals with some important people in the US, according to rumours on the net at the time. Saddam Hussein in Iraq was installed by the US, some say, and look at what happened to him.
It is very dangerous to be a friend of the United States. Better to be an enemy of some sort. Hopefully, a strong enemy. Vladimir Putin knows much more about this than I do.
In the past, the Sovjetunion preferred Republicans over Democrats in the US. Moscow could talk with Nixon, Reagan and big Bush, maybe also with small Bush. I don’t know about today. My American friends, you know more about this than I do.
Mr. P, is that you? ;~)
Situation with Ukrainians who have they own “identity” are same as situation that Serbs have with Croats, Bosnians and Montenigrians. I know, since I have witnessed creation of two new nations strictly on politics basis since 90′. All of those “nations” use Serbian language, 90% same names, religion and history. Bosnians are Serbs who took islam during Ottoman empire and croats are same as Ukies, serbs who were indoctrinate by Vatican. They also created NDH or fascistic country with monstrous concretion camps for serbs and others. They also base their identity not on historical basis and development but on hatred and distance toward Serbs. As this man from video says , they also started to change our names and words etc. Knowing our history I doubt that situation in Ukraine will ever change, catholic church created they artificial identity which in order to sustain needs hatred against orthodox Slavic nations from which they drop of, in this case Russians. I really regret that, since my dream is to create Slavic union based on Slavic tradition, history and soul. It could be one great pan Slavic union. But seeds of hatred have been planted and I really do not know how it will be ever removed.
