Europeans are completely clueless about what’s happening here in Athens. They can’t see to save their lives that their silence protects and legitimizes a flat out war against a country that is, just like their respective countries, a member of a union that now seeks to obliterate it. Europeans need to understand that the EU has no qualms about declaring war on one of its own member states. And that it could be theirs next time around. Where people die of hunger or preventable diseases. Or commit suicide. Or flee. All Europeans on their TV screens can see the line-ups at ATMs, and the fainting grandmas at the banks, the hunger, the despair. How on earth can they see this as somehow normal, and somehow not connected to their own lives?

Яценюк обязал Россию продавать газ по рыночной цене: «Мы дотировать «Газпром» не будем»
Has Europe just got tired of throwing good money after bad? Maybe they started to see that the Ukrainians are incurable in principle. Behind the Kiev refusing to pay for gas is the story of the missing money that the EU gave to Kiev to pay for procurement of gas supply for the coming winter .
To ensure uninterrupted gas transit to Europe in looming winter, Ukrainians need to stockpile of 19 billion m3 of gas. Ukraine officially notified the EU that they needs money to pay for this amount of gas. Brussels, after grumbling for a week, coughed up the required by Kiev cash to pay to Russia. However, savvy Ukrainians decided that they would be able to get Miller’s prices $60 below than set by Gazprom. Somewhere along the way they pocketed the difference. However, Russia simply ignores their shenanigans. Kiev ends up with just enough money for 12 billion m3. No more. What do they do? They turn around and demand from Brussels to give them more money for those mysteriously missing 7 billion cubic meters. To say that the EU was greatly startled is to say nothing.

Rumors (or something like that)
If you look on the map of Crimea, you see the delta of river Dnepr. It’s the fourth major river in Europe. It begins in Russia, goes through Belarus and Ukraine, absorber over 15000 rivers and creeks on the way. Crimea received 85% of fresh water through the canal, which was built in 1961-1971. It stretched from the Khakhovka Reservoir to Kerch. Through this system of canals, Dnepr flows into Crimea, or rather it did until May 2014, when Ukrainian cut the flow of Dnepr to Crimea.
Ukraine builds dam cutting off Crimea water supply
Since Ukraine started dumping fresh water of Dnepr to the Black Sea, it created the ecological disaster among the saltwater creatures, and it caused the ecological disaster in Crimea, resulting not just in shortage of water for people and crops, but the rising level of soil salinization.
Here some World Water News on Crimean water
This entire time, Russia was offering money for water, that was refused by Kiev authorities.
Dnepr is not a Ukrainian river only, it originates in Russia and gain its strength in Belarus. The idea of redirecting Russian part of Dnepr and redirecting other rivers flowing into this rivers to river Don has been around since May 2014. It’s possible to engineer. It will be beneficial for Russia’s and Belarusian agriculture to keep all this water. It would give a large middle finger to the Western companies grabbing land in country that doesn’t belong to them. [Source]
If this is indeed true, the redirecting river inflow to Dnepr on territories of Russia and Belarus will result in significant drop of the water level in Dnepr, in disruption of continuous deepwater route from the mouth of the Pripet to the Black Sea; the chronic water shortages in the Kryvyy Rih industrial regions; and disruption of irrigation of arid and arable lands all over Ukraine especially the southern Ukraine and steppes of the Black Sea Lowland. It will also render the chief ports in Kiev, Cherkasy, Kremenchuk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Nikopol, Kakhovka, and Kherson, useless.

Thanks Scott.
In regard to the Dnepr – the boomerang effect – the Junta cut off Crimea – so why not Belarus and Russia cut off Ukraine. The Junta are so dumb, they don’t even think about these things…..When Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were all connected it made sense – why should they bother now? Especially as these freaks want to kill all Russians and Russian speakers and deny any heritage.
What is sad is they were just dumping the water and creatig a disaster in the process.
Interesting times ahead. Good luck to Monsanto.

sounds like an expensive retort to cut off the flow…I would think it was easier to get rid of the stupid dam in Ukraine. How did they build it so fast ? just dynamite it. At night. hehehe
An excellent idea to divert the Dnepr. Now is the time to officially inform the Ukrainians. The threat to do that (and doing it if the threat doesn’t work) should be a wake up call to the junta to stop playing silly games. And open the water supply to Crimea,or pay the price for their stupidity.
Well I certainly hope this gets full play in Russia. The Russian “Ivan sixpack” needs to fully understand the nutjobs in Ukraine today. And this article pretty well explains them. It should also be a wake-up call to Russophile Ukrainians to get off their “duffs” and join the NAF:
” Everything Russian Must Be ‘Eradicated’ From Ukraine – RFE Columnist”
After the Ukrainian army defeats pro-independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, Donbass must be completely cleared of Russian culture, said Anatolij Streljanyj, a renowned writer and columnist of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE).
De-Russianization must become the number one priority for Ukraine, Streljanyj said.
“In this war, the fate of Ukrainness is being determined. This is important. That’s the point. Everything else is minor details,” the columnist of the radio station said, as cited by website Ruposters.ru.
The government of Ukraine should start the policy of Ukrainization across the country, Streljanyj added.
“Ukrainization is not only complete breakaway from Russia, but also complete withdrawal from Russianness. De-Russianization will become the synonym of Ukrainization. The former must be eradicated, the latter — forced into application.”
According to Streljanyj, ethnic Russians living in Donbass are in fact Ukrainians. In fact, they [the Russians in eastern Ukraine] would have been Ukrainian, if not Russia, which “defeats Ukrainness simply because of its mere existence in this world.”
Right on. Apparently, Russia can magically turn various ethnic groups into Russians by simply being on this planet. Amusingly, the enthusiastic activist for Ukrainianization happened to live in Austria. Very Ukrainian of him, we must admit.

Since Ukrainians are just another name for “West Russian”.And they are a regional branch of the same people, with the same culture.Any “eradication of Russianess” would mean the mass self-killing of themselves.A giant ethnic suicide pact.Russian citizens and those that are sane Ukrainian citizens need to understand that this is a war of extermination. You either exterminate fascism in Ukraine,or they will exterminate you. It’s truly one of the “you or them” moments of history.
This is not new in history of Ukronazism. Bendera and his fascists called for genocide of Russians and Jews during WW2.

Absolutely
Yats is widely known as thief and liar, Ukraine not only stopped paying for Russian gas but also reduced imports from the European Union.
Ukraine hasn’t imported gas from Hungary this month and cut supply from Slovakia by 27 percent, according to data from grid operators. The eastern European nation had 12.2 billion cubic meters (430 billion cubic feet) in storage on Tuesday, or about 15 percent less than at the same time last year, data from Brussels-based Gas Infrastructure Europe showed.
And yes, the reason for this is stolen money.

they are waiting for Winter to come when millions will be freezing due to lack of gas, and they will *again* blame Russia for that.
IMHO, they want more money from IMF to steal.
Sitrep Scott: so we can add ecological crimes to the roster of charges against Kiev et al. Maybe Mexico can sue the USA for all the illegals returned to their country? Two or three or more can play these games of legal harassment, I suppose, not that the norms of international law and the respect for the red lines of others matter much anymore. Well, let’s see Turkey could cut off all the major rivers of the midEast since most originate in their territory. How twisted is that?

There was never such a thing like “palestine” until the british colonizers created it in early 20th century and named it after the extinct biblical folk of Philistines. And it had a jewish flag during the mandate to boot, here from 1939:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SWgAWN0ssOE/VGiYr1MGxeI/AAAAAAAACw4/X0ChPRaM2mI/s1600/Palestine-Mandate-Jewish-Flag.jpg
That used to be a part of Syria by the way, so if you want to call it an Arab country then it should be Syria and nothing else. Not some fake british-egyptian-terrorist created entity.
That’s a rather pathetic strawman post, T2015, even for one at your level in the hasbara spamming S.W.A.R.M.
2500 years ago Herodotus referred to the region as Palaistinê in his “The Histories” and the region has been called variations of Palestine at least from that time. That the region was sometimes a part of Syria is irrelevant. A short history of Palestine:
What is The History of Palestine?
Again: the folk of the Philistines was an old semitiv tribe that ceased existing many centuries ago.
But hey, always looking forward to your automatic “hasbaaaaraaa, hasbaaaaaAAAaaaara11!11!!!…” type of responses. You welcome.
Still, the truth stands – it used to be Syria. The british-zionist product called “Palestine” is just that, a british product. Most of those people are originally Egyptians anyway, like Arafat himself was, like Mufti himself was. Quite some “Palestinians” you got there.
From your playbook Israeli post, I must assume your a Zionist. The mandate was set up under the British true. But the area being called Palestine was thousands of years old under that name.Just because the Ukrainians and West are thinking to rewrite history against Russia. That doesn’t mean it will work anytime or for anyplace. There are actually people alive that study history. And they won’t let you get away with that. The Arabs of Palestine are not “Egyptian” settlers.Arafat was born in Egypt because his Palestinian father was working a job in Israel and brought his family temporarily with him.But even if that were true. Its funny that Jews who almost all were immigrants from other nations (especially Eastern Europe) would have the effrontery to dare and act like that was shocking.Over 90% of all the Israeli Jews either were born outside Israel,or their parents or grandparents were. What is shocking,is their claims to the lands of others. And your defense of those false claims is also fairly shocking as well.
I always find it funny how you like to call me an israeli troll, while I often said here that I am against the british-owned masonic criminal Israeli government as much as I am against the british installed salafist-MB-Hamas axis of terror.
But hey, it’s always easier to misquote people or to just repeat the fallacious “hasbara” red herring, because otherwise you would have to actually discuss stuff or come up with facts.
That much about “playbooks”, strangely it rather looks like you guys are using those – since the lack of imagination or actual arguments, sources etc. on your side is way too obvious, as usual.
I don’t defend those claims you’re fantasizing about – but fact is, also the so-called “Palestinians” are mostly of foreign origin and just recently imported under the Brits and later the Nazis. The numbers of immigrations etc. are well documented, but I won’t bother posting just to yet again get senseless troll-ish answers as the above.
Actually you aren’t as much pro-Israeli as you are anti-Muslim.I think that is what motivates you more “hatred of Muslims”.And since the Zionists share your “zeal”.Then you are forced to defend them on that one issue. Now me,I don’t hate Jews,Muslims,Catholics,Ukrainians, etc. I oppose Zionists, the empire, nazis, and their supporters, because of the evil they do.But if the evil was on my side I would condemn it too.The truth, and real history,is/should be fact based. And not “spun” for any agenda.

Ukraine Merges Nazis and Islamists
Ukraine’s post-coup regime is now melding neo-Nazi storm troopers with Islamic militants – called “brothers” of the hyper-violent Islamic State – stirring up a hellish “death squad” brew to kill ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine, on Russia’s border, reports Robert Parry.
By Robert Parry
July 08, 2015 “Information Clearing House” – “Consortium News” – In a curiously upbeat account, The New York Times reports that Islamic militants have joined with Ukraine’s far-right and neo-Nazi battalions to fight ethnic Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine. It appears that no combination of violent extremists is too wretched to celebrate as long as they’re killing Russ-kies.

Anti-War Activists Battle in Court Over Claims Military Spied on Them
A lawsuit filed by nonviolent peace activists alleges a coordinated attack by the military against anti-war activists, and now their appeal has been sealed preventing the public from learning more about the operations against these nonviolent protesters.
The Army, Towery, and Rudd, pushed for the appeal to be sealed as it references evidence, which corroborates the allegations made by the activists.
“Plaintiffs have sought to advance the cause of peaceful dissent against coordinated military and police subterfuge and espionage,” National Lawyers Guild attorney Larry Hildes, who filed the appeal, wrote in a brief. “Plaintiffs sustained targeted acts of harassment, and the police have been accused of targeting activists for being activists. Two plaintiffs have been blacklisted in official police and military fusion networks as ‘domestic terrorists,’ a connotation carrying felony implications. Excessive physical force by police marked the official response to explicitly nonviolent, disciplined civil disobedience.”
Lawyers representing the activists argue that many constitutional rights have been violated, and that the public has a right to know what the government is doing to its own citizens. The documents speak on military and governmental spying on civilians, the violation of constitutional privacy, and press rights.
“Military and law enforcement officials have admitted to engaging in actions that not only violate our plaintiffs’ constitutional rights, but also violate a century-old law that should protect US civilians from military intrusion.”
“By targeting activists without probable cause, based on their ideology and the perceived political threat they represent, the Army clearly broke the law and must be held accountable.”
This is how it’s done in Israel, BTW.
Minors routinely abused in adult prisons – report
The gruesome account details the experiences of several young inmates in Michigan, including a 17-year-old female teenager, now 20, identified only as Jamie. She was originally sentenced to two concurrent six-month sentences for allegedly throwing a brick at a roommate and slamming it on the front door of their house in an attempt to get inside.
Despite being less than 18 years old, and despite the general thrust behind the juvenile justice system being that teenagers can be reformed and re-enter society as productive members, Jamie was assigned to the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in January 2012, where she joined inmates who, among other things, were convicted of first-degree murder.
While there, Jamie’s behavior became influenced by inmates much older, and with much more checkered pasts than her. Although her initial sentence was lighter because she was granted a special youthful status, she could not meet the standards necessary to have her record cleaned. Officials cited misconduct as the reason why, and she was later resentenced to up to five years in prison for her original crime.
Prison records later obtained by the Huffington Post, however, showed only that Jamie defied an order and gave a guard an “intimidating look.”
After receiving her new sentence, Jamie’s behavior grew worse. She yelled loudly and also tried to commit suicide. She was tied to a bed for almost 24 hours without a visit from a therapist. Another time, she was restrained for days.
At one point, officers in gas masks forcibly extracted her from her jail cell, restraining her to a bed and pushing a spit guard to her face. In a video recording, Jamie complained that she couldn’t breathe and repeatedly asks officers to leave her alone. After accidentally spitting on an officer, she was written up for misconduct.
While prisons do train employees for cell extractions, correctional consultant Jeffrey Schwartz told Huffington Post they can be used by staff “because it’s an excuse to kick the crap out of inmates.” He called the extraction of Jamie “wrong and clearly dangerous,” particularly since she was choking.
The report also highlights that young prisoners are placed in situations where sexual assault can be rampant when they are housed with adult inmates, citing an inmate who said he was raped as a 19-year-old. Afraid that officers would make fun of him or reveal that he reported the incident to other inmates, the sexual attack went unreported.
File this in the chutzpah dept.:
FBI Raids College With Low Success Rate Despite Millions in Federal Grants
On Tuesday morning, federal authorities raided a Jewish college in Michigan suspected of fraud. Contributing to their suspicions is the fact that the school has taken millions of dollars in US government grants, but still maintains a suspiciously low graduation rate. Plus, the majority of its students don’t even live in the United States.
Founded in 1997, the Michigan Jewish Institute prides itself on providing “excellent academic baccalaureate and other degree granting programs” to its students.
The only problem: that academic track record has been less than stellar. Over 2,000 students are currently enrolled with the institute, yet, in 2011, MJI handed out only three bachelor’s degrees. That figure seems to be at odds with the fact that the college has received an increase in federal funding – nearly $25 million – in the last five years.
MJI’s financial records are certainly cause for suspicion. The $25 million was received from the US Federal Pell Grant Program, intended to aid some of America’s poorest students. The college’s assets also ballooned to $4.6 million dollars in 2013, a massive increase from $1.2 million in 2008.
But there are other signs of MJI’s suspicious activity. During a brief visit to the college’s main campus in West Bloomfield, a suburb of Detroit, one would be hard-pressed to find any sign of student life. Most of MJI’s student body study in Israel.
Because the students are still US citizens, each brings in $5,730 from the Pell Grant, plus a $2,500 administrative fee for the study-abroad program, plus ordinary tuition.
In 2012, only 40% of MJI freshman returned for their sophomore year, and the college only handed out 20 bachelor degrees.
Despite the fact that West Bloomfield campus is a relative ghost town, MJI is spending millions on construction projects. The few classes that are run on campus occur in The Shul, a $6 million synagogue. The institute has already received permission from the township to build a new 16,000 square-foot building.
That space would house six additional classrooms.
The only really unusual thing here is that the FBI is investigating them.
Trolling isn’t allowed here, Ben.
International Court Judge: Dick Cheney Will Face Trial for War Crimes
“Some of us have long thought that Cheney and a number of CIA agents who did what they did in those so-called black holes should appear before the” International Criminal Court (ICC), Thomas Buergenthal said in an interview with Newsweek.
Buergenthal, 81, served as a judge at the ICJ – the main judicial arm of the United Nations – for 10 years before retiring in 2010.
The ICJ, unlike the ICC, has no jurisdiction to try individuals accused of war crimes or crimes against humanity. As the ICJ is not a criminal court, it does not have a prosecutor able to initiate such proceedings.
Buergenthal was born in the former Czechoslovakia and survived the Auschwitz concentration camp as a boy. He is now a US citizen and a professor of law at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
“We (in the United States) could have tried them ourselves,” Buergenthal said of Cheney and others. “I voted for Obama, but I think he made a great mistake when he decided not to instigate legal proceedings against some of these people. I think – yes – that it will happen.”
As for Cheney’s superior for eight years, Buergenthal dismissed former president George W. Bush as “an ignorant person who wanted to show his mother he could do things his father couldn’t.”
Buergenthal said Richard Nixon, whose administration Cheney served in during the 1970s, was “more intelligent. I don’t think Nixon would have got involved in Iraq.”
But would AIPAC ever allow such trials on their turf? The criminals would surely talk. A lot. And as the Iraq war was for Israel…. ;D
Upper house approves first list of 12 ‘undesirable’ foreign groups
The upper house approved the list on its Wednesday session and forwarded the document to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Foreign Ministry and the Interior Ministry. Speaker Valentina Matviyenko told reporters that it had been created out of reports from regional authorities that are concerned about alleged subversive activities by certain organizations. She also noted that the proposed version of the document is subject to change.
Matviyenko emphasized that the inclusion of the anti-Russian groups on the blacklist would make their work transparent and clear for local authorities, political and non-government organizations.
“Today Russia faces its strongest attack in the past 25 years, targeting its national interests, values and institutes,” reads the Federation Council’s address to state agencies. “Its main goal is to influence the internal political situation in the country, undermine the patriotic unity of our people, undermine the integration processes within the CIS space and force our country into geopolitical isolation,” the senators state in the document.
The first list created in accordance with the recently-introduced law ‘On Undesirable Foreign Organizations’ includes foreign and international groups “known for their anti-Russian bias.”
They are: the Open Society Institute, also known as the Soros Foundation; the National Endowment for Democracy; the International Republican Institute; the National Democratic Institute; the MacArthur Foundation; Freedom House; the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation; the Education for Democracy Foundation; the East European Democratic Center; the Ukrainian World Congress; the Ukrainian World Coordinating Council; and the Crimean Field Mission on Human Rights.
I saw that. Its great news (and long overdue).
I long ago recognized some of those names — from being major sponsors of PBS and NPR, including the McNeil Lehrer Hour (later without McNeil) and other ‘news shows’.
It gets better:
Justice Ministry to add Khodorkovsky’s Open Russia NGO to list of undesirable groups – report
A new Russian list suggesting 12 undesirable foreign organizations will soon be expanded to 20 groups and include the Open Russia NGO sponsored by Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the Izvestia daily reports.
The added groups will include the Ford Foundation, the Jamestown Foundation, the Eurasia Foundation, and the Albert Einstein Institute. The Justice Ministry is also seeking a ban on the Russian activities of the Open Russia association, created and sponsored by former oil tycoon and staunch opposition figure Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the sources said.
“This will not be the end, the network of foundations that implement the politics of the US State Department is quite ramified and our list will be expanded,” added the high-placed Upper House official.
Obama speaks the truth for once:
Say What? Obama: ‘We’re Training ISIL’
Approaching the subject with the seriousness it deserves, Obama goes on to commit what may be the most embarrassing political blunder: “We’re speeding up training of ISIL forces, including volunteers from Sunni tribes in the Anbar province.” What’s more, the president’s stern expression and serious tone as he continues his address indicate that he was completely unaware of the error.
The WhiteHouse.gov transcript of the speech even left the original quote, only placing the word ‘Iraqi’ in parenthesis after ISIL. While it seems clear the president intended to pledge support to ground forces in Syria and Iraq instead of ISIL, many are beginning to wonder whether the comment was a simple error or a Freudian slip.
Apparently Obama confused the press conference with an internal white house briefing. Maybe he’s not getting enough sleep lately? :D
Thank you
truth about ukraine seems to be revived as truest truth about ukraine

probably also reached via southfront, save Donbass etc etc
I like the water idea from Rus. but it still has to get through to Crimea. My in-laws in Djankoi north Crimea have had to drill an artesian well with their neighbours, water is a serious problem out there, I think a desalination plant would be another option too.
Thanks, ladies and guys, for contributing.
Good job!
“An excellent idea to divert the Dnepr. Now is the time to officially inform the Ukrainians.”
no information, just do it, and enjoy their screams!
Too bad we cannot see the faces of the companies that want to grab the land.
I am sure there are international laws and agreements about shared water resources, and one country is NOT allowed to block off a river to stop the next country getting water. So Russia doing this in the north would be just as wrong as Kiev doing it for the Crimea.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopts resolution condemning Russia’s continuing actions in Ukraine
HELSINKI, 8 July 2015 – The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, meeting in Helsinki this week at its 2015 Annual Session, has approved a resolution condemning Russia’s actions in and around Ukraine in the context of the ongoing crisis.
Parliamentarians from three continents voted by a margin of 96 in favor to 7 against with 32 abstentions on the resolution, which condemns Russia’s “unilateral and unjustified assault on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The resolution, which is titled “The Continuation of Clear, Gross and Uncorrected Violations of OSCE Commitments and International Norms by the Russian Federation,” was principally sponsored by Dean Allison, the Head of Canada’s Delegation to the OSCE PA. The text was a compromise version of similar items submitted by the Delegations of Canada and Ukraine.
The Russian Delegation to the OSCE PA was not present for the vote following its decision to not attend the 2015 Annual Session.
Among more than 40 clauses, the approved text “calls on the Russian Federation to stop the supply and flow of heavy weaponry, ammunition, units of the Russian Armed Forces and mercenaries across the Russian border into eastern Ukraine [and] cease providing any military, financial or logistical aid to illegal armed groups in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.”

But it’s OK for NATO and US to support, finance, weaponize, train, provide intelligence, and send mercenaries to Ukraine, apparently.
Any hope of OSCE not being just a mouthpiece and tool of the empire must surely be abandoned now.

Yes,it appears the OSCE needs to be put on that list of anti-Russian organizations. And Russia needs to suspend its membership in it “unless it cleans up its act” now.
The Russian Delegation to the OSCE PA was not present for the vote following its decision to not attend the 2015 Annual Session.
They just forget to mention this was after Finland refused entry for the 6 senior members of the 15-man delegation. True they have sanctions on them, but also true they could have let them in anyway, after all they were not going there to have fun or make money.
Russia will use this against them eventually, as for most points they can find OSCE reports saying different.
