Combats SITREP from “Juan”
- Igla-S man protable anti aircraft missiles were found ‘abandoned’ beside a country road’ by Donbas Army, confirmed. Quantity unknown.
- A video of a Ukrainian Sukhoi ground attack plane being shot down 30 May is extant. No verification of the incident by witness account from a crash sight. The pilot ejecting is visible on the video.
- Ternopol: Some government buildings have been taken by the people, one admin building burned 30 May.
- Several ZU-23 anti aircraft systems (which can be used with devastating effects as heavy rapid-fire machine guns on ground targets) were “found” by Donbas Army. Source and number of as new condition weapons unknown. The weapon systems are now in use of the Donbas Army.
- Casualties from the bombardments of Slavyansk and Donetsk are estimated in excess of 50 civilians but this number is not verified. It is verified that one 5 year old girl child has lost a foot.
- Children were being evacuated from Slavyansk to Russian Federation and sent to Sevastopol yesterday and today. That evacuation has been suspended due to the situation in Slavyansk as of early this afternoon local time.
- Heavy fighting is continuing in parts of Slavyansk and outlying areas all day and intensifying as of 17:55 31.05.2014.
- Donetsk Airport is still the scene of sporadic fighting since afternoon 29 May. Fighting still occurring 31 May.
- Casualties of junta Army as of 28 May are reported to be 627. Casualties of the junta Army since that date are reported by the same source as 250. Both figures are KIA (killed in action). WIA (wounded in action) are not known accurately but the source estimates in excess of 700 WIA up to 28 May. WIA after there is no estimate.
- Desertions from Ukrainian Army are confirmed at a minimum of 1428 as of 28 May. No numbers reported after that date. It is unknown if these figures include national guard/right sector casualties.
- 18:21 local time unconfirmed reports from Donetsk Airport that a junta Army unit has turned at least some of their weapons on national guard/right sector fighters in airport terminal, reason unknown.
——-
My own sources confirm that Slaviansk has seen the heaviest artillery strikes ever with shells landing more or less randomly in the city. Still, the huge artillery barrage which “Juan” and, by the way, one of the leaders of the Resistance, Viacheslav Ponomarev had feared would occur last night did not happen. In other words, the means to flatten Slaviansk have been deployed, but the political decision seems to be the only thing waiting to happen and, as Crossvader on others had suggested, this decision would entail major risks for the regime in Kiev. My personal guess is that the local commanders of the Ukie death-squands around Slaviansk would love to open up with everything they have against those they call “terrorists”, “bugs” or “Moskals” but that folks like Poroshenko in Kiev see, if not the big picture, then at least a bigger picture. For one thing, the Russians could simply walk out from the negotiations on gas deliveries. What is certain is that the fight for the control of rump-Ukraine is now on, with on one hand the Poroshenko-Klichko duo trying to get Kiev under control and on the other the Iarosh-Timoshenko-Tiagnibok-Liashko freak show trying to put pressure on him with maximalist demands. The compromise in Novorossia seems to be “we will shell enough to create a panic, but not enough to trigger a real bloodbath”. This is most definitely not an effective tactics.
Combat operations in many parts of the world have all shown that while the initial shock takes a very heavy toll on the civilian population, after a while people learn how to adapt and survive. There are already reports about children recognizing the the weapons used to shell them by their sound. Schools are now closed, and most families spend their time in or near shelters. As for the fighting men of the Novorosiia Defense Forces (NDF) they will not be eliminated or forced to retreat by artillery strikes. Again, an analysis of recent urban combat operation shows that artillery and air strikes are not enough to prevail against a trained military force dug-in inside a city. The only known way to defeat a force dug-in inside a city is to engage in building-to-building infantry warfare, something very similar to WWII. As soon as you put your own force inside a city it becomes very tricky to use artillery fire support (because you risk hitting your own men) and air strikes, especially with powerful bombs or missiles, become especially dangerous. The only way to clear a city from its defenders becomes to send in heavily armed (infantry) assault teams, supporter by armor, to clear the city street by street and house by house, probably the most difficult mission one can give to an infantry force and one in which the better trained and most experienced side will have a huge advantage over your typical “street rioter turned national guardsman in 2 weeks” kind of attacker.
Right now the junta is using an old Bolshevik technique: they send conscript units into combat and right behind them they use “blocking squads” – special Right Sector death squads which will summarily execute anybody not willing fight. While such methods are more or less doable in open terrain they are absolutely impossible to use in an urban environment. Thus, those Ukrainian army forces which might be able to competently execute an urban assault (paratroopers) are rarely willing to do so, while those who would be most willing to do so would either be killed in minutes (“street rioter turned national guardsman in 2 weeks”) or to cowardly to try (death squads).
What we have witnessed so far is typical of the inability of the junta to lead a competent military operation. All they have done so far is:
1) First terror tactic: the random shelling of Slaviansk and other cities.
2) Second terror tactic: random shooting at civilians.
3) Attacking checkpoints located outside the cities.
4) Attacking symbolic objectives located outside the cities like the Donetsk Airport.
As I have said it many times, time is not on the side of the junta. Civilians are gradually being evacuated from the combat zone and even if the Ukrainian authorities use various intimidation and nasty harassment techniques against these refugees (like forcing them to get out of their buses and continue on foot), they cannot simply kill them all (too many cellphones with cameras, too many reporters out there). As for the NDF, they are clearly getting more and more weapons such as the MANPADS (man portable air defense systems) and rapid fire AA (anti-air) guns mentioned by “Juan” which the NDF seems to regularly “find” here and there. By the way, MANPADS and AA guns are the *perfect* weapons for urban warfare. The first ones prevent not only air strikes but also air mobility (ferrying around of men and equipment) as we have seen with the recent death of the junta thug-general in charge of the “National Guard” in the Donbass. As for rapid-fire AA guns they can not only shoot helicopters and aircraft, they can turn any wall or lightly armored vehicle into confetti in just a few seconds. Even a main battle tank will be badly rattled if a ZU-23 puts well-laid burst of steel armor-piercing rounds on it. My understanding is that so far the NDF only has the towed version, but sooner or later they are going to get the self-propelled one (the ZU-23-4 lovingly called “Shilka“) which is normally used as air-defense system for in any motor-rifle or armored regiment. As for the old ZU-23-2 they can be mounted on pickups and trucks (though these vehicles will shake badly during firing). I think of these simple but formidable weapons has “WWII weapons on steroids”.
Everything I wrote above about Slaviansk is even more applicable to big cities like Donetsk which feature two additional and formidable obstacles to overcome for the attacking forces: big strong buildings build with reinforced concrete with deep basements and a buried and redundant communications network. The former make it even harder to use artillery or airstrikes to support attacking infantry units while the latter make it all but impossible to disrupt the defenders communications. Big cities also have more food stores, more supply and ammo dumps, they can be better prepared for defense (axes of attack are easier to predict in a city) and the defending force can be *more* mobile inside a big city than in the open. Finally, cities have even more civilians with video cameras and cellphones and they also have more journalists and reporters. The political costs of attacking a big city are thus much higher than the ones of a almost “private massacre” in a small village which, at any rate, might be discovered only days later. Some of the worst massacres in Rwanda did not take place in Kigali (which saw plenty of horrors) but in small villages hidden in the hills and forests.
Bottom line: this is one the junta leaders cannot win. They hope to bait Russia in, but if Russia resists the provocation, and I believe Russia will, they will have to give up and, as I said yesterday, I think that the junta will do so sooner rather than later.

“The European Union has said holding an election “in the midst of conflict, only in regime-controlled areas and with millions of Syrians displaced from their homes would be a parody of democracy, have no credibility whatsoever, and undermine efforts to reach a political solution”
Luckily, in Ukraine, the West isn’t hogtied down by the same ‘moral’ principles.
MANPADs are not ‘fire and forget’ weapons. AA guns are easy targets for precision guided missiles. Tracers do work both ways.
It makes a lot of sense what you say. I think that time is not with the nazis. Anyway, I wonder why Putin is tolerating so many murders. Russia has been designated guilty of whatever happens in Ukraine. Why this doing nothing, after Odessa, Mariupol, Slaviansk, Donetsk… CIA is freely embedded in Ukraine. There are mercs, jets and choppers pounding mercilessly… Schools, hospitals, homes… Why this wait and see attitude? Very disappointing…
In the larger game, it is most likely that Putin is letting the US and EU hang themselves by their own rope. They have been able to disguise the atrocities by covering up and ignoring them in the media but time is not on their side there either as the Donbass people are utilizing social networks more effectively and gathering new support. I also noticed that even Rueters has finally shown an honest video of the plight of the people of Donbass. Link here: http://www.reuters.com/video/2014/05/31/pro-russian-activists-rally-for-peace?videoId=313146356&videoChannel=1
And here’s an example of how they are utilizing social media more effectively:

@Daniel Rich: MANPADs are not ‘fire and forget’ weapons.
Russian 9K38 are. They use passive combined IR/UV homing guidance system.
AA guns are easy targets for precision guided missiles.
Why? And how would you go about detecting them in a city anyway?
What is your point anyway and where do you get your facts?!
The Saker
Thanks for all the info and I wonder what Amerikas orders will be in the near future since they cleverly cornered themselves. We all know that they really don’t care about the people in the Ukraine only the end result.
Thanks for your and Juan time to provide the truth.
Every manpad I have ever heard of is fire-and-forget.
BTW, do you have a link to the footage of the eradication of the Sukhoi?
Short info from Strelkov in Slavyansk regarding the possibility of attack:
— 8 copters have landed at Karachun hill (overlooking the town). Could be “high-level” guests.
Thus, – everything is possible (spoken at the end of May 31)

Monday, May 16, 14:27 GMT:
The leader of the Svoboda (Freedom) parliamentary party and presidential candidate, Oleg Tyagnibok, have compared anti-government protesters in Donetsk to Maidan demonstrators, saying: “They want the same that Ukrainians at Maidan wanted during the Revolution of Dignity (EuroMaidan) – to be the masters of their land,” Ukrainian news agency reported.
Tyagnibok stressed it is the new authorities’ “task” to give people in Donetsk and “across all of Ukraine” what they demand, which is “accountability of authorities, independence of the courts, protection of constitutional rights, security of life and property, freedom of enterprise and social justice.”
—————————-
That was completely unexpected. Maybe Tiagnibok is not among the Iarosh-Timoshenko-Liashko freak show.
Anyone has any idea about how to make sense of it?
This is a very good analysis, given the situation with fact checking in the hot zones, like Donetsk and Slavyansk. The only thing I’d disagree with is that the potential Ukrainian Army casualties would prevent the ground operations in Donetsk or Slavyansk. You think in terms of a regular warfare, where generals try to keep their forces’ casualties as low as possible. This is true for a conventional war. However, in this situation, I think, the Junta can use a great number of killed and wounded as an argument against both Russia and the Donbass Army. Just as they do now, twisting the truth about the daily shelling of Slavyansk. The more casualties on the Ukrainian Army and National Guard side the better the argument will be. This is a totally different type of war, where they would kill hundreds of their own just to build and prove their case. The tactics of weak and frightened criminals.
– Yuriy A. [@Alibabaevich https://twitter.com/Alibabaevich ]
Your post seems to confirm my speculation on the situation: There is wide range support for the following plan to solve the Ukraine Crisis.
The Praviy Sector thugs and the Maidan volunteers in the National Guard will all be killed or liquidated. This will preferably happen in the open fields between Slavyansk and Izyum.
The regular army will not interfere, other than providing the National Guard a safe passage to the killing fields.
Russia will not interfere, other than providing a steady flow of volunteers and light weapons to keep the situation stable. Further interference could cause the regular army to side with the National Guard.
Russia and all pragmatic forces in Ukraine, including in the army support this plan. Poroshenko may be in on it.
The US, their puppets, and the junta do not support this. They want to escalate and most likely are hoping for a Russian attack.
Yetserday there was a video-interview with a commander of Einzatzgrouppen “Donbass” Semyon Semyonchenko. Ostensibly this fascist thug is a tip of the spear of Ukrainian efforts. What was remarkable is that he was hiding his face, and even more so, that he doesn’t seem to speak Ukrainian language. Go figure!
Well in any case, he said that Russians run multiple “terrorist” training camps just across the border in Russia, and that the border is porous – therefore rebels are well-equipped and well-supplied.
If it’s true that Chechens – some of the world’s most magnificent warriors – are serving in Ukraine at Putin’s pleasure, then junta’s fight is already lost.
Thank you, Saker and “Juan”. Putin is looking wiser and shrewder and more on top of this mess by the minute. And so far, Saker, it’s playing out just about the way you called it, omigosh, however long ago it was.
Auslander or anyone else,
These evacuated children, especially any who have been traumatized or injured, really tear at the soul. Is there any hospital, charity, resource, to which we can donate, whether money, cards, toys — SOMETHING??? My tax dollars crippled that little girl, just like they murdered that babushka lying in the street covered by cardboard. How the hell do we ever make amends — we can’t even figure out how to stop these monsters — our monsters? The least we can do is reach out a helping, caring hand to the children victimized by the Empire’s latest foray.

First of all, there is no wholesale slaughter and destruction that you are alleging.
Junta’s efforts are half-assed and dispirited.
Second, Russians are doing everything they can, short of invading.
Third, no Russian ruler will ever want to be remembered as a “butcher of Ukraininas”. For good or ill, Russians still consider Uks a “brotherly people”.
Therefore, if Russians have to kill a lot of Uks, it’s got to be for a mighty good reason. And so far such a mighty good reason is still lacking.
@anonymous:Every manpad I have ever heard of is fire-and-forget.
If I remember correctly some early models like the British Blowpipe were laser-beam riding, though I am not sure about that.
Then, in theory, track-via-missile (TVM) could be used with a ground-based fire radar though this has not been used on a man portable one at least to my knowledge.
Then, again if I remember correctly, the Singer had a visual tracking mode to defeat countermeasures, but I am not sure that I remember that correctly and also the speed of the more modern MANPADS would make that hard to implement, I think.
I personally was never trained of MANPADS but the brother of a good friend of mine has, I can try to find out from him (hey – “H” – can you ask your bro please?!)
Kind regards,
The Saker
@ The Saker,
Most modern fighter jets come with an array of anti-missile countermeasures. Are they 100% waterproof? Of course not. Locking onto a target doesn’t necessarily mean said target will be unable to avoid being hit.
As to AA guns being hit, I’ve seen countless batteries being destroyed in/during the Syrian conflict, but decided not to link to them, because of their graphic nature [both SAA and ‘FSA’ armaments]. If you have no problem with that, I’ll provide links [with a warning].

Explodes into sensual forms of love
And the female, this sculpture
Already mature
Explodes into sensual forms of love
Being young is no need fifties

And who smiles of love never grows old
Love or desamar without guilt
Defying the laws of the Heart
Do not make an excuse of old age
And neither the profession youth
Age is not the fault
Old age is no excuse
Even the youth is profession
Older who is afraid of being old
Stealing dreams of any teen
Saying that he ” gives two ” , which is potent
Lying to yourself and to the mirror

Amongst other things to show to the world that the junta and their “foreign friends” are paper tigers, even if destructive ones.
After all the “foreign friends” have declared war on the world including the “nations” of the “foreign friends” although this may not be perceived yet.
Two things:
1) Good to see a lot of hardware especially the ZSUs has been ‘falling off the truck’ this weekend whether Russian or Ukrainian army ‘surplus’ lately. I don’t know the logistics of smuggling in a disassembled ZSU across the Ukrainian border and mounting it on a pickup or flatbed truck (aka ‘technicals’ from Somalia) but the Iglas clearly are getting more deadly and have UV homing capability if they’re taking out not just copters but jets. All the usual Tymchuk combo of rage at the weakness of the Ukrainian State/border guards and braggodocio about the ‘ATO’s glorious victories seem to have induced propaganda fatigue, at least among a growing share of the Western media. The AP piece about low morale among the UKR forces in particular was devastating, after days of the AP reporters undoubtedly getting tired of being led around and BS’d by their Kiev minders about huge rebel body counts that could not be verified aside from the truckload of wounded who died being medevaced from the Donetsk airport fight.
2)I appreciate Nora and the Saker’s comments and I commit not to make ideological generalizations about ANYONE who contributes their thoughts here in the future. In fact I plan to mostly lurk and comment less. My main point has been: don’t think the battlefield and intel lessons from Ukraine won’t be ‘bringing the war home’ particularly by the CIA/FBI and US contractors on the ground.
However if the Empire’s minions fail (and failing is what it looks like they’re doing) to subjugate the Donbass and can only hang on to Odessa through terror, it reassures me that they’re less likely to try some sort of martial law rollout or ‘dirty war’ against dissidents that has been rumored to be wargamed much closer to home as in THIS:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/aug/7/the-civil-war-of-2016/
http://smallwarsjournal.com/jrnl/art/full-spectrum-operations-in-the-homeland-a-%E2%80%9Cvision%E2%80%9D-of-the-future
For all my ranting about the BLM and Bunkerville the other day, I would certainly think it occurred to the less lunkheaded, more saavy veteran BLM agents at the scene that all it would take is one provocateur behind either side’s ‘lines’ for that standoff to turn bloody fast and that perhaps both sides were being ‘set up’.
Again, not obsessing over Bundy himself who is a bit of an idiot but there were rumors after the standoff ended (thank God and in spite of some participants) peacefully of something like the Kiev snipers shooting BOTH sides was being *explored* at the highest levels of DHS, along with White House musing about deployment of drones (Oathkeepers admitted they got conned by deliberate disinfo that *armed* drones would be deployed, not doing themselves many favors in the credibility dept).
http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2014/04/29/bundy-ranch-advisory-for-april-29-2014/
In conclusion it seems to me the last card the junta has to play is false flag on an even bigger scale than dressing up Pravy Sektor with red armbands and St. George’s ribbons in Odessa. Maybe even dressing in Russian army uniforms to attack UKR Army or making Pravy Sektor look “Checheny” (to borrow Steve Sailer’s phrase) and committing some sort of massacre against Donbass civilians.
Peace,
American Kulak
That was completely unexpected. Maybe Tiagnibok is not among the Iarosh-Timoshenko-Liashko freak show.
>Anyone has any idea about how to make sense of it?
I am very skeptical about this. I wouldn’t expect a populist, Russophobic party like Svoboda to make a u-turn and consider the interests of Russians in the east. I would like to remind everyone of the following comment made by a Euromaidan leader about Crimeans (apply this to Novorossiya too):
“This scum should be given promises, guarantees, and any concessions…And hung…They should be hung later,”
http://rt.com/news/ukraine-dnepropetrovsk-crimea-protest-458/
So, in this instance, Svoboda is likely playing the “good cop” to Poroshenko’s military “bad cop”.
Cellphones and video cams are useful. I wonder however if the appeal to compassion is overstated. Atrocities in every region the West is waging war occur and are ignored. In the Ukraine I would suspect the Fascists lose nothing from atrocities because if they lose the war they lose their lives. The West wants a bully little war and is quiet happy to bankroll liver eaters and neo-Nazi fanatics in any sector to that end. I also wonder how the blocking squads work in this situation– why won’t the soldiers turn on them?
It’s not enough for Russia to “resist the provocation”, they need to scream bloody murder and do things like turn off the gas, etc.
RT is relatively quiet.
Putin is essentially complicit or flatfooted here. I’m a fan of Putin, but he seems to have abandoned the Russians trapped behind enemy lines.
Modern military equipment vs civilians is a war crime.
I see I made it absolutely not clear what I thought. MANPADs are ‘fire and forget’ weapons, but not in the sense that that guarantees a ‘sure’ hit.
And that leads me to the next question: are there really ‘wonder weapons’ in a war zone?
Igla-S? Does the Ukrainian Army even have them in the first place in order to abandon them by the side of the road?
@Daniel Rich: I don’t get it. What is your point?! First, you mistakenly say that MANPADS are not fire and forget (which I never discussed anyway), then you explain that AA guns are easy targets (as opposed to what? APCs? MBTs?), and now you explain the self evident fact that “most modern fighter jets come with an array of anti-missile countermeasures. Are they 100% waterproof? Of course not. Locking onto a target doesn’t necessarily mean said target will be unable to avoid being hit.” Well, yes, they probability of kill is in the .4-.6 range depending on target and model. But so what? What is your point?!
You also write: “I’ve seen countless batteries being destroyed in/during the Syrian conflict”
You were in Syria during the war?
How is any of that relevant to the SITREP or, if it is not, then what is your *point*?!

Yep, throw it to the dustbin. You spoke about ultra-nationalist thugs dreaming about Greater Ukraine.
@olivegreen:Igla-S? Does the Ukrainian Army even have them in the first place in order to abandon them by the side of the road?
I am not sure if it is the Igla-1, the Igla or the Igla-S that they have nor it is clear which model was “found”. But one thing is sure, if the Russians delivered these missiles to the Resistance the latter could simply claim that they “found” them. Hey, if the junta gets to use a Polish modification of the Igla to accuse Russian LifeNews reporters of smuggling missiles, the Resistance forces have a “moral right” so say that they found missiles right at the end of a rainbow, left there by a well-meaning “leprechaun” (-: probably a very polite one, dressed in green :-)

The so-called “rulers” of this country and the Empire are not our government. They abandoned us and have called us their enemy. They tossed out their credibility and their legitimacy in this country when they passed all the unconstitutional goddam laws they’ve passed since 911.
I understand how you feel guilt and horror for what they do. So do I. But I’ve fully withdrawn my consent. Doesn’t do squat yet, but it will build as more and more people see the horrors these people do. “In our name” and “with our money.” But you know and I know and everyone in the world paying attention knows, it isn’t you and I calling for these crimes. It’s the big guys, the bankers and 1% that pull the puppets’ strings.
I keep quiet here as I’m ignorant about most of this–fascinated and learning, but not fast enough to really contribute to the conversation. But I felt I had to say this because I’ve had to struggle with it too–hating these evil bastards but without the power to remove them from their offices of power and profit.
We will do what we can, but I rest every night knowing that ALL is in God’s hands and I trust in that.
Onwards….

Yes. Absolutely. In the Donbass, they typically are very polite and wear green. And they bring presents to all the good people of Novorossiia.

Wasn’t St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) Russian?
No St Ncholas was Greek or more precisely Bysantinian. Ded Moroz (Grand Father Frost) is the Russian equivalent of Santa. He has nothing to do with Christianity and is probably one of the remnants of the pre-Christian Slavic paganism…
@Afterthought
“Modern military equipment vs civilians is a war crime.”
I don’t know how much of this is intent and how much just plain incompetence that they have destroyed half of Slavyank and killed a bunch of civilians while doing barely any damage to the actual enemy. They certainly have not been able to take out the militia’s mortars in all this time, though they regularly report doing so. (Actually, Strelkov’s unit seems to have gotten some extra from somewhere)
@anonymous:квадрокоптеры
My cousin has one too. With a nice camera and goggles even. But that hardly makes it a “quadcopter with thermal/IR/optical vision with small laser designator”. Especially in the Ukrainian military. I am telling you – Stallone and Schwarzenegger are not deployed in the Donbass :-P
But, seriously, even if drones can (and are) using in urban combat operations, it is quite a different thing to use them as target designator and even yet another to have even a relatively slow (but really still pretty fast) CAS aircraft like the SU-25 acquire that signal (as far as I know they do not carry such gear anyway) especially between buildings and even more so when both drone and aircraft can be shot at. So while all this sounds really nice in theory, in reality the best designator is a well trained Vietnam-era style forward air controller with a radio connection to the aircraft. But even then, the distance between one side and the other is so short (less than 100m, and most combat will happen even closer) that to engage aircraft is very, very tricky.
Forget about fancy electronics, especially in the Ukraine.
My 2cts…
The Saker
I am amused by people forgetting that most drones — unless they’re operating at high altitude in which case they’re hard to spot — have very little in the way of evasive maneuvering capabilities. In fact they’re not much less vulnerable to ground fire especially from big gun platforms like the ZSU cannons than WWI or interwar era biplanes! Drones are mostly useful at night against Afghan or Yemeni tribesmen with no trained spotters or anti-air beyond Kalashnikovs rather than Ru special forces or Chechens trained by GRU on how to fight them. If UKR forces adopt higher altitude bombing runs and drone circling to dodge Iglas, keep in mind that puts them potentially in the envelope of SAMs on the Russian side of the border.
How would the UKR’s be able to confirm an aircraft was shot down by a Russian SAM battery just inside the border of Belgorod region anyway, without AWACS or NSA radar intercepts? Undoubtedly the Su-25 Frogfoot pilots know they’re caught between their vulnerability to Iglas/ZSU fire at lower altitudes and getting painted by an S-300/400 battery on the other side of the border at higher altitude. Slavyiansk is what, less than 100 miles from the Russian border? Well within range at 10,000 feet or more. Even if the UKR pilots believe the Russians won’t fire from their side of the border getting painted and hearing the growl of death in one’s (Israeli provided, cough cough) ECM set earpiece is never a pleasant feeling for any pilot. Much less a pilot who probably averaged 45 hours of mostly level flight per year prior to this civil war.

A minor objection to your turn of phrase, “old Bolshevik practice’. Such contingency has been resorted to throughout history, the Union Army during the American Civil War comes to mind. Redbaiting is beneath you.
Want to distort facts? Want people to be misinformed? When I scam the MSM headlines about the mess in the Ukraine this one stood out; BODY-LANGUAGE EXPERT: I Would Not Trust Anything Snowden Said To NBC.
One might argue that it has nothing to do with the Ukraine, which is partially true, but it shows you how MSM keeps distorting facts and keeps going after ‘messengers’ whilst ignoring the blatant facts. It is therefore that I’m thankful to get all the other info from sites like this.
@Anonymous:A minor objection to your turn of phrase, “old Bolshevik practice’. Such contingency has been resorted to throughout history, the Union Army during the American Civil War comes to mind. Redbaiting is beneath you.
Well, in Russian history this practice was inaugurated by the Bolsheviks. I did not intend to “redbait” (first time I hear that expression, but then English is not my first language; it’s my 4th). But if it implies that mentioning the horrors committed by the Reds in Russia, then I plead “guilty as charged” – consider me a dedicated “fulltime redbaiter”. But if that term implies ONLY brining up the atrocities of the Reds or implying that ONLY the Reds commit atrocities, then this was not my intention at all and I plead “non-guilty”.

“Right now the junta is using an old Bolshevik technique: they send conscript units into combat and right behind them they use “blocking squads” – special Right Sector death squads which will summarily execute anybody not willing fight.”
From what I’ve read, the nazis are often in command of the regular army units now. For example, from what I read, that was the case with recent case of the 80 or so soldiers who wanted to surrender in Lugansk, but their nazi officers wouldn’t let them. The men were allowed to return home, the officers, who fired on the negotiators are POW now. With all the regular Ukranian military units surrendering, agreeing to truces, refusing orders from the banderivtsy, it would make sense these nazis would move to direct command of the military units. But info is so mixed, who knows?
BTW, putting nazis in charge of regular military/naval/air force units was a German nazi strategy, even having lower rank nazis overriding the authority of their non-nazi superiors at times. Often those queens were unpopular in the units, but their clout was feared. Much like zionist/neocons in the modern day western regimes now. How these queens are able to remain influential is the same as how nazis maintained their power in nazi Germany over the older establishment, and part of how zionazis now maintain their power in the west.
While there is a hot-war going on in Ukraine, remember that it is part of a tactical maneuver within a bigger story. The real strategic objective is to conquer and eliminate Russia,
The details are broken down comprehensively in this discussion with Evgeny Fedorov, a Deputy of the State Duma and the coordinator of the People’s Liberation Movement for restoring sovereignty in Russia. It is in Russian with English subtitles and was recorded on 13 May 2014. Duration: 2 hrs.
US to attack Russia in 2015
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0zRD-Ulv2s
The gist of the discussion is this:
1. Washington is preparing to eliminate Russia via another systematic ‘color revolution’. The plan was to launch it this very summer (2014), but as they have gotten bogged down in Ukraine, it is likely postponed till 2015.
2. A coup d´état is carried out under the cover of a ‘revolution’ ascribed to some arbitrary and partially manufactured popular discontent, but is actually the completion of a lengthy, systematic process (over years, if not decades), quietly building up the Washington-friendly fifth column within the media, administration, business and law enforcement, to undermine the target national authority from within. The specific mechanisms and dynamics by which this is accomplished are discussed in detail – something which appears to be documented nowhere on the Internet.
3. The influence of Washington over Russian public servants is at an all-time high, such that Washington is confident they can bring about their latest bloody ‘color revolution’ on the streets of Moscow and the authorities will turn a blind eye while Putin is swept out of power using the same template by which they have removed Yanukovych, Mubarak and other popularly elected leaders who started making their own decisions rather than following orders from Washington. The predictability of their system is what gives them confidence of its success.
4. At the same time, Russia is slowly beginning to awaken and notice the infestation. The successful repulse of an American attack by Russia will ricochet around the world all the way back to Washington. But is it too late already? In the next few years it will come to a head, with only two possible outcomes : the destruction of Russian civilization or the collapse of the American empire.
Major segments:
0:19:51 Washington’s mechanisms of control via the fifth column in Ukraine (coup launched) and Russia (coup in preparation).
0:47:03 Novorossia could mobilize an army big enough to liberate all Ukraine.
0:55:34 The armed coup was launched even though Yanokovych was capitulating, in order to establish conditions for terror and massacres.
1:03:46 Novorossia has eliminated the fifth column. This will be emulated in neighboring territories.
1:08:57 The foreign ‘mercenaries’ are likely equipment operators.
1:25:31 Fifth column agitators will try to get Putin overthrown for his “inaction” over Ukraine.
1:39:19 The global crusade of the Anglo-Saxons – banditry & exploitation, obscured by style, finesse and copious marketing.
1:45:18 Parallels between the German and American invasions of USSR/Russia (then and now).

@ New Insight,
Thanks for the link. Downloaded it and will watch later tonight.
As to Mubarak, he was not elected but appointed/installed Hosni Mubarak.
That was completely unexpected. Maybe Tiagnibok is not among the Iarosh-Timoshenko-Liashko freak show. Anyone has any idea about how to make sense of it?
Why not look up Pavel Gubarev and the Russian National Unity movement, and then think about what they are representing vs. what Tyahnibok is representing?
In many ways, they represent the same thing, only from the opposite sides of the divide between Russian Orthodox Novorossians and Greek Catholic Galacians. These two peoples (and they are two peoples, because the Galacians have clearly undergone ethnogenesis even if most of the rest of Ukraine has not) don’t have to hate each other, and in many ways they both want the same thing. Tyahnibok appears to have had a moment of introspection where he put aside his Bandera nonsense and looked across the Dniepr at the common humanity, aspirations, and enemies shared by the people on opposite sides of the state of Ukraine.
Tyahnibok is probably beginning to realize that he and his people were used to put the same old gang of billionaires and SBU freaks into power again once they decided to ally with Timoshenko’s All Ukrainian Union “Fatherland” party and allow them to compromise what the common people protesting at Maidan wanted.
In many ways the Galacians and Novorossians have far more in common and more common interests than would necessarily appear at first glance, and a federalized Ukraine would definitely suit both of them far better than the unitary state controlled from Kiev.
Re: Tyagnibok – I would not hold my breath.

What the time lapse means in technology, especially nanotechnology and drones, you can find on scientific and military websites or at least on portals dealing with latest drone technologies.
On the other hand city fights compose of two sides, you have to assume both equipped with the best high-tech.
Well hidden “aimer” with laser device making any bomb finding its target may eliminate all heavy weapons withing his area of operation rather easily. The bombs may be released from several kilometer highs far beyond range of any MANPADS.
But in the case of Ukraine what counts yet is “weight” of munitions applied against opponent. 150 mm self propelled howitzers may prove the point.
Dear All,
I believe now is the time for the Ukrainian army to intervene against the Junta and remove them from power.
What do you think ?

American Kulak,
Please reconsider, and comment! I’m absolutely serious about that invite I extended, and would like VERY much to work with you. For real, for real.

@New Insight
I have listened to the first 30 minutes of the 2 hour video you’ve posted. My gut instinct tells me that Evgeny Fedorov is working to undermine Russia and Putin. I stopped watching after he mentioned fifth column for roughly the 30th time. He seems very intent on focussing the energy of Russians on internal enemies and playing up fears.
Wikipedia has a detailed entry on him. I am curious to know how many members of the Duma (and United Russia) are so well covered. Of course I do not know if he has a high profile in Russia or not.
He is also a banker and he’s been circling around since the mid 1990’s. This from his wiki:
In 1996 he was appointed deputy head of the Insurance Supervision Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation in 1997 – for the post of Deputy Head of the Security Council of Russia. In the 1990s, he initiated the creation of a number of social movements, including the all-Russian political public movement “in support of the development of nuclear energy, industry and science”, Russian public movement of depositors of Sberbank, policyholders Rosgosstrakh and the owners of the securities.
Yevgeny Alexeyevich Fyodorov

In order to make a putch against Putin possible, Russians have to be made to believe it is possible. Although I have no doubt the US would like to tear Russia apart, his warnings seems designed to create rather than undermine the possibility.
That’s my opinion on the basis of the limited information I’ve seen.
United Russia is a party of power more than one of ideology or even Putin. I wouldn’t trust this guy any farther than I could throw him. He is a neo-liberal and professional politician/parasite, again, in my opinion and based on limited information.

I find your entire comment absolutely offensive and disgusting. As you well know, the Galicians have all been raised in a virulent hatred for anything Russian and/or Orthodox and that hatred is at the very core of their culture and identity. When you write that these two people don’t have to hate each other you are implying that Novorossians also hate the Galicians, but that is also false (they do hate Nazis, but that is not a nationality/ethnicity). Furthermore, the Novorossians don’t give a damn about Galicians whereas the Galicians have somehow convinced themselves that Novorossia (and even Crimea!) are part of what they think of a their “historical Ukraine” (nevermind that no such state ever existed). How do you manage to pack so many implied fallacies into just a few superficially reasonable sounding paragraphs? And what about the term “Greek Catholic” which manages to pack two lies into two words (the Uniats are neither Greek nor Catholic)? It is just mind boggling to me that somebody who does understand these issues (and you clearly do) could speak with such a sweet but “forked tongue”… Are you a Jesuit or have you been trained by them?
And then this:common humanity, aspirations, and enemies shared by the people on opposite sides of the state of Ukraine.
Don’t you understand – there is no “common humanity or aspirations” between Russia and anti-Russia and between Orthodox and anti-Orthodox. What is today’s Ukrainian nationalism if not the ugly offspring of the ideological fornication between the Papacy and secular West European racist/Nazi theories, united in their common hatred of Russia and Orthodoxy?! And as for what you call the “state of the Ukraine” has died forever this spring, having lasted only 22 years and having left a legacy of ruin, corruption, incompetence, lies and, above all else, hatred. There is only one way to live in peace for the people of the ex-Ukraine: a complete de-Nazificaton and a complete de-Papisation and that is not going to happen any time soon (though who knows?). So the only real option for the Russian speakers of the ex-Ukraine is the one which Russia has always used on its western borders since Saint Alexander Nevsky: to have a military force protecting the Orthodox people from their “loving brothers” in the West. As the VDV always say – никто кроме нас! Right now for objective reasons they have to wait, but believe me that any final settlement of the post-Ukrainian space will have to be guaranteed by Russia’s armed forces.
The Saker
@Andrew: at least once you need to be told the following: the Papacy is to the Orthodox Church what rabbinical “Judaism” is the Christianity. That’s it. It is really that ugly and that simple. Those two forces can try to camouflage or mis-represent themselves in many ways (with labels like “Greek Catholic”) and they can temporarily even succeed, but they always show their true nature at which point they get defeated by the people, the “Body”, of the Church (as was the case during the False Union of Florence). My evidence? One thousand years of history in the first place and two thousand years of history in the second case. I won’t even bother making my case. I just want you to hear that put to you like that at least once, and I want you to know that *we know*. Read Dostoevsky’s “Grand Inquisitor” (or re-read it – you probably have) and understand that there is nothing in common between these diametrically opposed entities: one wants to absorb/kill the other while the other refuses to be absorbed or killed. This has been the case of 1000 and 2000 years respectively, and it is not going to change now. It will only end when Christ Himself puts an end to it at His second coming.
The Saker
E posted the translation of an article posted earlier by Saker on the previous thread. I note the similarity between E’s introductory thought — that Russians must beware of internal enemies — to the sentiment expressed by Evgeny Fedorov in the video posted by New Insight, and seconded by Daniel Rich. Here’s his introductory comment:
The level of analytical discussion in the RuNet was excellently described by political commentator Semyon Uralov: “It is fundamentally wrong to think that only our Kievan colleagues have lost their minds and turned into bloodthirsty hysterics due to the Ukrainian crisis. There is an incredible amount of such people among our Moscow colleagues as well.”
It is possible that some within Russia are turning their attention to internal enemies but it is also possible that attempts to encourage this are being made by the Anglo-Zionists from without.
It’s a bit like casting a magic spell over your opponent. You must encourage him to believe in the reality of the threat to make it real.
Both this article and Federov push the idea that Putin must act now — bad advice given how well things are going for Russia in geo-strategic terms (although not for Novorossians). Anglo-Zionists fortunes are crumbling. Now would be the worst possible time for Putin to make an aggressive move.
Wherewolf — yes I immediately noticed when I ‘looked him up’ the irony of Fedorov’s background in finance and even the Rosnano org prominently mentioned on his Wikipedia page (but then again Wikipedia is used to put out disinfo). I had assumed from his hard line that he was pure silovik.
Rosnano for those who don’t know is Russia’s state-funded nanontechnology effort with close ties to Israel’s nano establishment (just throwing that out there). Its board like Skolkovo has included Anatoly Chubais, the former Yeltsin advisor, ‘liberalizer’ of the Russian economy in the 1990s, and a globalist operative if there ever was one in Moscow. Chubais is on the board of Skoltech and if the rumor about him having an Israeli passport is true (we shall find out soon enough with this new law passed in the Duma on reporting foreign passports or facing harsh fines/penalties) then that would make at least two Israeli passport holders on the Skoltech board. Naturally there is a lot of overlap between the Skolkovo and Rosnano ‘tusovkas’.
Of course many people connected with these orgs are sincere Russian liberals who were closely part of Medvedev’s ‘modernization’ and ‘diversification from oil and gas’ efforts, and I don’t think Medvedev was a Western agent. He was simply naive and too trusting of the West in Libya and this contributed to the shock among Moscow liberals over Putin’s adrupt return, though VVP may have planned to come back all along. Many of the technology and finance oriented ‘White Russians’ who helped with the Reset and Medvedev’s visit to Silicon Valley along with then Gov. Schwarzenegger’s trip to Moscow are Stolypinists.
http://en.rusnano.com/about/management/chubais
Again, I think Fedorov is throwing out the charge of ‘5th Column’ too freely — sort of a Russian McCarthy if you will. Not every prominent Russian who has to ‘do business’ with the West and invariably deal with CIA plants or probes lacks patriotism. And Evgeny A. Fedorov says NTV and First Channel are answering to the McFaul and Nuland’s State Dept., really?
I don’t doubt CIA is aggressively seeking to recruit Russian bureaucrats and business people with family and ties abroad all the time, that’s their job. But I suspect most of what the Agency gets from these sources who never entirely bite on the bait being dangled with the hook is deliberate Russian disinfo. I’m also convinced that at least some NSA fanatics here in the U.S. have some grudge against the CIA or suspect the ‘limited hangout’ or ‘CIA plant’ theories about Snowden /Greenwald/Omidyar advanced by Dr. Steve Pieczenik and Sibel Edmonds actually could be true.
http://pieczenik.blogspot.com/2014/02/edward-snowden-spy-or-whistleblower.html
If Dr. Pieczenik’s ‘limited hangout’ theory is true, and Snowden really is the messenger for John Brennan’s CIA knocking its old IC rival down a peg or two, then Putin is doing CIA a favor by keeping Snowden safe and sound where only somewhat sympathetic journalists can reach him. Snowden will never set foot in the U.S. again because then the ‘he’s a traitor, hang him, he only escaped with 1.7 mil docs because of SVR/GRU/FSB support via Wikileaks’ Narrative will start to break down under such simple questions such as how the CIA couldn’t bother to muster a single team to stake out the Hong Kong airport and await his arrival (not saying the ChiComs couldn’t have beaten the Agency with countersurveillance of their own and gotten Snowden on an Aeroflot flight where Aeroflot was instructed to accept his dubious Ecuadorian/Assange made transit visa, only that the Agency either was incompetent as usual or deliberately let Snowden board that flight to Moscow, hence the NSA grudge vs CIA you see repeated by the NSA’s leading social media kingpin, John R. Schindler of the US Naval War College:

Far too extreme, Saker, in my opinion. You don’t do Dostoievski justice, for even his hero Alyosha objects to Ivan’s characterization that not all Roman Catholics are of this demonic nature. Indeed, the entire novel “The Brothers Karamazov” sets that story in the mind of an atheist (even though a lovable one.)
In my little church, which was traditionally Russian Orthodox, we even had Catholics come to our services and participate – Carmelite nuns who loved our Easter service.
Perhaps you are a little like Grushenka in her story of the old woman and the onion. Don’t kick away other Christians so vehemently – it is not really an attitude I understand, since what brought me to the faith was rather the welcome I received which I cherish above all.
Do go back and reread “The Brothers Karamazov”! You can read it in Russian, and I so envy you for that.
There will be a reckoning for supporting a government that attacks on civilians. This is a hot button for the right and what’s left of the left in the U.S.
Why does the US govt support attacks on civilians in Ukraine?
Obama will pay for this in even lower ratings but never fear, the Republican Party will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Doesn’t matter who controls things, it’s all one party – The Money Party.
The current bipartisan U.S. foreign policy has reached an all time low. The human and opportunity costs are not as great as previous messes but the cynicism and lies are beyond the pale.
Last thought of the night — I thought Snowden calling himself a ‘spy’ in his interview with Brian Williams was very curious. It was as if he was winking in Sibel Edmonds and Steve Pieczenik’s direction (I can’t believe if Ed really can search the web as much as he pleases there in Moscow he hasn’t at least seen some of the ‘limited hangout’ theories about him). At the very least, I suspect Ed is pretty up to speed on the social media campaign against him run out of the U.S. Naval War College and his saying he’s a well trained spy not just a High School dropout was his way of saying:
F you John R. Schindler, Tom Nichols, and ‘shrink to America’s KGB recruited traitors’ David Charney:
http://www.noir4usa.org/about/david-l-charney-md/
You think you know me and have me all figured out as a narcissistic young man who lashed out at his country, his employer, all to prove something to the world? Ya’ll don’t know jack I’m straight up CIA bee-yotches!
http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/03/stopping-next-edward-snowden-105004_Page2.html#.U4qcxfldXTo
I support this theory by noting that Snowden disclosed previously non-public aspects of his life from the age of 18 including his presence at the Ft. Meade campus or right next to the base on 9/11 (although Ed grew up not very far from NSA’s mother campus, and perhaps he had always aspired to work up the road at ‘No Such Agency’ even after watching the 1999 Jerry Bruckheimer production “Enemy of the State” with NSA bad guys in it).
At some point me thinks Mr. Charney is going to have to consider whether Snowden was much more than his self-serving bilious, intelligence community absolving theories could fathom. A CIA (maybe even an MK Ultra case?) op either gone exactly as planned or gotten out of hand and causing more damage to NSA and by extension CIA than Langley had intended. But not a Robert Hanssen or Aldrich Ames, not even close.

Yup. I trust in God too, but for both theological and practical reasons, I’m also partial to Ben Franklin when he said, “Heaven helps those who help themselves.” A Methodist friend once remarked that we are God’s hands. I don’t think she had it quite right, but good fathers both guide their children well *and* really do want them to become self-reliant… We’ve got to figure out what to do about all this, and then start doing it. There really isn’t any choice.
Saker,
Am I simply naive to not believe that this hatred situation can ever change? People do, especially when they learn how they’ve been used as pawns and set to fighting amongst themselves. That’s really one of the best things about this country: in my father’s generation, intermarriage even among Catholics of different ethnicities was a pretty big deal. Now? A whole lot of families contain members of different colors, different religious backgrounds, from different countries and continents, you name it. Are there problems? Sure, sometimes — but there are plenty of non-problems too. People *can* grow. It’s just up to us, as best we can, to create the best conditions for that growth. So I’m thinking it *is* possible, for Poland, Russia, Galicia, the rest of the Ukraine however it ends up, to get along. France and Germany, for gosh sakes, were mortal foes since, what, the Thirty Years War, basically, and the Franco-Prussian War and then both world wars certainly didn’t make them good buddies. They get along now though — and the French people and German people coexist without hating each other, at least on the basis of the past. So it can happen. Also too: people tend to unite against a common enemy and as the horrors continue in Ukraine, Tyagnibok may not be the only one to recognize that some so-called friends may be worse than traditional enemies. It sure would be nice if *some* good came out of all this!
@Juliania:not all Roman Catholics are of this demonic nature
Except, of course, that I never said that. I spoke about the Papacy as an institution. I have to say that your reaction saddens me. Can you imagine a Christian from the times of, say, the Arian, Nestorian, Monothelite or Iconoclast heresies saying ” Don’t kick away other Christians so vehemently”. Though, again, I am not kicking at any *person* but at what I see is an obscene conflation between the Galician Uniats and the Novorussian Orthodox. You know what saddens me most? That you did not feel the same sense of outrage, especially at a time when the Uniat/neo-Nazis are shelling your brothers and sisters in the Donbass.
Silence is also a form of false witness and by silence is God betrayed. That is not something I am willing to do and that is not the purpose of this blog.

American Kulak,
Do you think Obama — third-generation CIA (both maternal grandparents, mother, father, step-father) — could have been MK Ultra too? There is just something brainwashed about him.
@Nora:Am I simply naive to not believe that this hatred situation can ever change? People *can* grow
Dear Nora,
This is not a “people issue”. It is a “disturbing witness issue”. Let me explain.
Christianity basically teaches that those who rejected Christ lost their quality of being Jews or, if you prefer, that Christians are the “real Jews”. So Judaics and Christians both claim the same foundation – the faith of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – and both parties claim that they are the true continuations of this faith. The reason why rabbinical Judaism hates Christianity so much is that Christians are here to testify to the world that those who call themselves “chosen” have lost that quality. In other words, Christians are by there mere existence a challenge to the chosen nature of the Jewish people (though, of course, this is not a race, but a tribe).
“Roman Catholicism” claims that it represents the “true Church”, that it is the repository “tradition” and that it is the continuation of the original Church. So here again two opposing parties are claiming the same foundation. The Orthodox Church denounces “Roman Catholicism” as heretical, innovative, that its “traditions” have no basis in the original Church and no basis in the first 1000 years of Christianity. In other words, Orthodoxy by its very existence challenge the “traditional” or “historical” nature of the Papacy.
In both cases, Orthodoxy is the disturbing witness, the irritating voice which refuses to bow to the Judaic or Lain narrative. Thus both groups want to make us shut up or, in the case of the Papacy, to absorb us. Do you see why this is not a “people issue” but a LEGITIMACY issue? IF you want, you can say that we, Orthodox Christians, are the ones yelling at the Popes and rabbis “the king has no clothes!”. In fact, we are the *only* ones who can do that because our theology, our church services, our reading of the Lives of the Saints – all our ethos and all our daily praxis reminds us of that and makes it possible for us to pass this awareness to our kids.
Now think of other religions. Islam, or Hinduism or even modern Protestantism. None of them make a claim which Orthodoxy challenges and none of them have any reason to fear our witness. With them coexistence is not a problem because we don’t threaten their narrative, their founding myths. So in these cases coexistence is only a “people’s issue” and yes, most definitely, it is possible. But the Papacy and Rabbinical Judaism cannot tolerate us as we challenge the very core of their public image. Basically, by our very existence we call them illegitimate frauds. This is why the nature of our relationship with these two denominations is unique.
I need to go to bed now, but please just think about what I wrote above and then try to see if history supports that theory or not. Or read Dostosevsky who, believe me, knew *exactly* the nature of the Papacy and of rabbinical Judaism and he was not shy about speaking up.
Good night my friend, have a great week-end,
The Saker
@Nora: but just to be clear – people are people and there is the same ratio of good and bad people everywhere, in any party and in any religion or amongst those who are agnostics or even atheistic. I am *not* saying that group A is composed of better, kinder, people than group B. For one thing, the Church is a hospital for sinners and I have seen plenty of Latin Christians (especially in Latin America) whose personal piety and true Christian kindness would put to shame the vast majority of Orthodox Christians. This is not, repeat, NOT, about people. It is about institutions and, yes, I do consider the rabbinical and papal institutions are absolutely evil by both their origin and their nature. Saint John the Evangelist and Theologian wrote about such frauds “and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.” And many, many saints after him said the same thing, from Saint John Chrysostomos, Saint Maximos the Confessor, Saint Cyprian of Carthage, Saint Justin Martyr, Saint Photios the Great, Saint Mark of Ephesus, Saint Gregory Palamas and many many others. I rather be faithful to them then to those who would have me forget for what they stood for.
Now I really have to hit the sack :-)
Cheers,
The Saker
AA guns, especially if towed, are sensitive to return fire and best used when one has fire superiority and relocated frequently.
They also tend to attract a lot of return fire …
That being said, it’s supressive potential is only matched by a Shilka.
In short, the Donbas militia have to be careful when employing them, especially against Su-25, Mi-24, tanks, BMP-2’s and mortars. Fire at the flank and relocate quickly…
I saw some footage from the Donetsk airport where the Donbas or Vostok militia set up around the terminal buildings, including a AGS on the roof. Very dangerous thing to when up against multiple Hinds and Frogfoots, and I’m afraid the trucks with wounded vouch for this.

Thank you for the interview with Evgeny Fedorov. In crisis the human mind is focused on survival. It is truth, patience and courage which will stop the imperial war machine in its current cloak as a humanitarian intervention or a color revolution. Excellent insight and recommended……

Saker: You’re Catholic-bashing again.
Historically, the differences between Catholicism and Orthodoxy have always been more cultural and political than theological, though you tend to conflate papal politics, often driven by nation-state interests, with the Catholic heritage sharing the same roots as the Eastern Church
For a thousand years powerful forces in the Catholic Church have repeatedly sought to heal the Schism — and continue to do so today.
In this period in history Christian unity ought to take precedent over obsolete political divisions that have been exacerbated by US imperialists and their friends in the Vatican.
Your persistent anti-Catholicism does little to overcome these divisions and complicates those efforts in the Church to break with the Atlanticists/Americanists for the sake of allying the Romano-Germanic West with the Greco-Slavic East.
You think you are being historically “objective” — I think you are being chauvinistic.

Saker:
I know you are a good analyst, so I really wish you would step back and look at the situation a little more closely. I’m not going to get in an arguement with you about corruption in the Vatican or Uniates.
The powers in Ukraine right now are all around the Timoshenko party, not Svoboda.
The current powers that be are
President Petro Poroshenko (Jewish) – Odessa/Ukrainian Orthodox
Acting President Olexsandr Turchiniov (Former SBU) – Dniperopetrovsk/Baptist (Orthodox Apostate)
The Godmother Yulia Timoshenko (Jewish/Armenian/Ukrainian) Dniperopetrovsk/Ukrainian Orthodox
Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk (Jewish/Romanian) Chernivitsi/Ukrainian Greek Catholic
Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Yarema (Former Police) – Khmelnytskyi/??? Religion
Head of National Security Andriy Parubiy – Lviv/Ukrainian Orthodox
Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov – Armenian
Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko – Chernivitsi/???? Religion
Right Sector Terrorist in Chief Dimitry Yarosh – Dniperopetrovsk/Ukrainian Orthodox
Daddy Warbucks Ihor Kolomoyskyi – Dniperopetrovsk/Jewish
Many key figures are from Dniperopetrovsk, and most are Ukrainian Orthodox (I have to wonder ho many are Kiev Patriarchate types). Svoboda hardly figures into this power structure, and the one Greek Catholic is the goofball Jew “Yats” from Chernivitsi, which was an Orthodox area in Austro-Hungarian times. The death squad batallions Dnipr, Donbass, etc. are all recruited locally in those areas, not out of Galacia.
When I look at this fight I don’t see hordes of Galacian Svoboda Nazis attacking Russians in Donbass. I see Mad Dnipr Ukrainian Orthodox, some SBU flacks, and one Marrano Greek Catholic running amok with a bunch of Jewish Oligarch moneybags pulling the strings. It would be more appropriate to ask what is wrong with the power structure in Dniperopetrovsk that it feels this is an appropriate course of action, and why is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in schism?
So I don’t think Oleg Tyanihbok’s statement is surprising. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is wondering if his people are next. The Catholic Galacians remind me a lot of the Irish in America – strangers in their own land, trying so hard to be accepted by the WASP’s, forever doomed to failure because – duh – they are Irish Catholics, not WASP’s, and they can never become WASP’s, because it is a matter of blood, not removing the Mc in front of your name and the accent. In the case of the Galacians – duh – they are not central Ukrainian Orthodox, and no matter how nationalisitic and jingoistic they are, they never will be accepted on equal terms. Neither are the Novorossiyans of Donbass, Odessa, and Crimea.
If you recall, Svoboda had one important ministerial position in the Yatseniuk government – Minister of Defense Ihor Tenyukh – and he was the man who refused to order armed resistance by the Army against the Russians in Crimea. Its ironic that the only member of the coup government to act with humanity regarding the Russian Spring was a member of the despised Svoboda Party, while the bloodthirsty thugs are Orthodox and Jews.
