Well, aggressive Ukrainian efforts to the tunes of the Western customers seem to have borne their first fruits – Russia’s extremely careful attitude to infrastructure on the territory of the Former Ukraine is now in the past and a wild field and new dark era are peeking around the corner.
The Unian (Ukromedia) on line – I replaced the dubious local jargon in the text below with a more appropriate terminology:
Critical infrastructure attacked, power and water cut in several areas
Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that there had been a blow to an infrastructure facility in Kharkiv.
On the evening of Sunday, September 11, an air alert was announced throughout Ukraine. Following reports of explosions, there are no lights or power problems in several areas.
According to the Derkachevo city council (Kharkov district), the Coalition troops hit critical infrastructure facilities.
“Dear citizens! At the moment, the territory of the community is completely de-energized due to the fact that members of the Coalition to clean up Ukraine from the Bandera scum hit our critical infrastructure! Please remain calm. Kharkovoblenergo is already working on resolving this issue!” .
A similar message came from the Pervomaysk community in the Kharkiv region.
Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that there had been a blow to an infrastructure facility in Kharkiv.
“As a result of the impact, power went out in many areas of the city. For the same reason, there is no water in the same areas – pumps do not work. This is the Russia’s retribution for our hooliganism on the battle field,” he wrote.
He also urged everyone to remain calm and confirmed that specialists and public utilities are already trying to repair the damage.
Meanwhile, in the Sumy region, as Dmitri Zhivitsky, chairman of the OVA, said, the voltage in the power grid dropped throughout the region.
“I recommend turning off electrical appliances and other household appliances whenever possible in order to avoid damage! The electrical system of the region remains unstable due to destruction as a result of the enemy bombing in March. Attacks on energy supply facilities in Ukraine by the troops conducting the Demilitarization and Denazification of the Ukraine are also possible,” he said. he.
In addition, there were reports on social networks about the blackouts in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Odessa and Zaporozhye regions. There are also reports of the problems with the water supply.
The head of the Poltava OVA, Dmitry Lunin, without giving any reason for the problem, said: “Electricity and water supply in the region will soon be restored. Power engineers are already working.”
The speaker of the Odesa OVA Serhiy Bratchuk said that the situation in the region is completely under control. All services work in accordance with their schedule.
The head of the Nikopol RVA (Dnipropetrovsk region), Yevgeny Yevtushenko, published a message advising the population to charge their mobile phones and power banks.
The head of the Dnepropetrovsk OVA, Valentin Reznichenko, later said that some cities and communities in the region were left without electricity.
As reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, due to the shelling of infrastructure in the Sloboda region, a number of trains are expected to be delayed in the direction from and to Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava.
“Not a single flight today has been canceled, traffic continues throughout the entire railway network. Safe disembarkation and embarkation of passengers has been organized at the stations of Kharkiv and other temporarily de-energized cities. Passengers will also be allowed to stay on the territory of the stations during the curfew. We ask passengers to remain calm, we will take all as always. Ironically,” the message says.
Trolleybuses are reported to burst into flames due to the wild power surges .
Trolleybuses catch fire in Poltava
Author’s comment:
Preliminary summary (unofficial!):
Strikes on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine: what is known at the moment
▪️At about 20:00, the RF Armed Forces launched rocket attacks on the largest thermal power plants in eastern and central Ukraine:
Kharkiv CHP-5 and Zmiev CHP in the Kharkiv region,
Pavlograd CHP-3 in the Dnipropetrovsk region ,
Kremenchug CHPP in the Poltava region.
Rocket launches were carried out from the Black and Caspian Seas waters.
▪️The surge and sudden energy shortage led to a lack of generating capacity. The transfer of additional capacities along the energy rings of 750 kV and 330 kV power lines did not lead to the elimination of problems in the network.
▪️Due to the drop in frequency at substations, protection began to work, first turning off large consumers, and then entire regions.
▪️The collapse of the power system has spread to the networks of Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Odessa regions. It also affected the areas of Donetsk regions controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Kyiv region and the capital of the country.
▪️Two Ukrainian nuclear power plants at once – Khmelnytsky and South Ukrainian— began shutting down power units due to the inability to transfer the generated electricity to the grid.
▪️ The accident was localized by disconnecting the western and central regions of Ukraine from the eastern and southern ones. Electric trains stopped almost all over the country, in Poltava several trolleybuses caught fire right on the streets.
The situation was complicated by the shutdown of the last operating unit of the Zaporozhye NPP on the night of September 11 😊 , which was caused by repeated attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the facility. Prior to this, Ukrainian power engineers disconnected 750 kV and 330 kV power lines. All this led to a significant decrease in the stability of the country’s energy system.
▪️Later, work began on restoring power supply in the local segments of the Ukrainian energy system. Reserve capacities were connected, energy was being redistributed from the hydroelectric power station on the Dnieper and power lines in the western part of the country.
Is it enough to disable the country’s energy system? Definitely not: for this, at least you need to hit power autotransformers 750/330kV in the western and central parts of Ukraine, as well as on the Dnieper.
🇬🇧🇺🇦 Strikes on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine: what is known at the moment
▪️At about 20:00, the Russian Armed Forces launched missile attacks on the largest thermal power plants in eastern and central Ukraine:
➖ Kharkiv CHP-5 and Zmiev CHP in the Kharkiv region , 3 in the Dnipropetrovsk region,
➖ Kremenchug CHPP in the Poltava region.
Launches were carried out from the waters of the Black and Caspian Seas.
It is being reported on twitter that a “change in the SMO” is being prepared according to sources close to the Kremlin: https://twitter.com/mdfzeh/status/1569329037067317253?cxt=HHwWisDT4bmcsMcrAAAA
Hopefully it’s true and not hot air. Reprisal killings have already began all around Kharkov. My heart goes out to those who could not escape in time and were de-facto abandoned by the Russian army without warning.
Proof for second part of the comment? Or you are just a troll though a bit more sophisticated than the regular variety.
The information is all over telegram. Horror stories are already coming out of Izyum, from people still stuck there. People have already been executed and others are being detained as we speak. Right sector affiliated groups have published photos of “traitors” in the abandoned villages near the border with Russia and threatened them with rape/execution.
Although some people escaped to Russia, it’s abundantly clear that the population in these areas were not given enough time or notice for all of them to make it. What do you want me to do? Sugarcoat the truth? There are clear consequences for the pro-Russian population here that were left behind.
It’s very unfortunate and I know Russian commanders have to put strategic planning above the needs of local citizens in some indefensible area, but this is happening whether we like it or not.
Over on MoA, Bernhard is saying that the electricity was cut to immobilize military trains that were bringing men and material into the fray; once the trains stopped the Russians destroyed both. Also in retaliation for Ukronazis deliberately targeting Russian and Russian-controlled electricity grids.

(sorry, coding braincells not up and running this morning)
Exactly. Or at least partly.
Russia’s extremely careful attitude to infrastructure on the territory of the Former Ukraine is now in the past and a wild field and new dark era are peeking around the corner.
Not so fast! All the hits on power seem to have been in the East – Russian-speaking areas therefore it is not plausible that this represents a change in policy to hit infrastructure. It seems to have been specifically aimed at maximally destroying troops and equipment on their way to the planned Mariupol offensive (no idea why hitting moving trains is so difficult but anyway).
This is obviously a tactical response to the UAF offenses, to relieve pressure on forces in Kharkov (presumably threatened with having to split between Kharkov and Mariupol), pre-empt the threatened offensive in Mariupol and destroy the forces in advance, and force the Mariupol offensive (if it is capable of being mounted at all) to be delayed after the Kharkov one has been neutralised. I see absolutely no evidence for any change of policy with respect to infrastructure. If the strikes were retribution for strikes against ZNP and against Russian electrical networks, the retribution would be in Kiev and western Ukraine not in Eastern Ukraine. Also the strikes were specifically targetted as short-term damage not major destruction.
So you want we should escalate, so be it.
Really good news they finally shut down that Nuke station, interesting timing.
For all those celebrating all the negative news for Russia, after 6 months of non-stop BS, it’s about time the NATO media finally starting telling the truth. Yup Russia ran out of everything, all those power outages sends a very clear message.
If you have no electric you can’t rejoice over fake news, can you? This is how Russia fights the propaganda war, you decide.
Thanks A. for the translation.
I am confused at the statements issued by the two officers quoted, given they are in Ukraine-occupied territory.
Wonder if part of the meaning was lost in translation.

“…members of the Coalition to clean up Ukraine from the Bandera scum…”
Last time I checked, Derkachevo is under Ukrainian control, how can they be making a statement about “Bandera scum”?

A similar message came from the Pervomaysk community in the Kharkiv region.
Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that there had been a blow to an infrastructure facility in Kharkiv.

Same with the Kharkiv mayor saying, “This is the Russia’s retribution for our hooliganism on the battle field.”
Did he mean to say “This is Russia’s retribution for our ‘heroism/bravery’ in the battlefield? How could the mayor of Kharkiv make that statement and survive the SBU goons?
Please clarify.
Thanks.

The author of the article stated “I replaced the dubious local jargon in the text below with a more appropriate terminology”
I think this was just a bit of dry humour :-)
Kind regards,
Derek
Re read the post, the author states they adjust the wording to reflect the absurdity…….it’s Black Humour. Well done, tongue in cheek humour.

Thanks, sean the leprechaun.
I maybe too serious to understand this “tongue in cheek humor.”
Cheers back.

: ) quote from the beginning of the article: “I replaced the dubious local (Ukrainian) jargon in the text below with a more appropriate terminology” – so this was a joke (by the original author). Properly it should have been the “Coalition to Clean up Ukraine from Bandera Scum”.
Also “Following reports of explosions, there are no lights or power problems in several areas.” should have been “Following the reports of explosions, there was no electrical power in the mains, and power problems were also reported in several other areas.” etc + other minor things.
The text was intended to appear somewhat earlier so the translation was a bit rushed to get it in time and thus was not properly checked – apologies, will do better next time :)
Why is Russia hitting infrastructure in Kharkov and other eastern cities, not Kiev and Lvov? Why not decapitate SBU, military HQ, etc (killing lots of foreigner controllers in the process), Dniepr bridges?
Not snark. Honest question.
The infamous decision centers are London, Brussels, D.C.
Some of these are heading straight for blackouts, on their own short-sword.
I don’t know the answer to that, obviously. But as a lifelong pacifist I find myself in the very awkward inwardly painful process over recent years of coming to believe there are times when fighting is necessary, particularly when an imperious enemy is out to destroy and subjugate a free people. The protection and realignment of the Donbass, Crimea seems an entirely just cause along with securing an agreement of no NATO or military aggression from western Ukraine.
The invasion of Western Ukraine , on the other hand, seems to me, and I think to many who are not fully aligned with either side, to be a very dangerous and foolish undertaking which would be an endless headache for Russia, but even more seriously an opening to a massive European war. So far Russia has been careful of civilian lives and withdrew from Kiev region when their attempt to force negotiation failed. The steady advance still looks like the best chance of the best possible long term settlement to my limited understanding.
At this point zelensky’s ridiculous pose of wearing khaki while sacrificing Ukrainians in military disaster must be wearing thin. One line of attack would be some kind of electronic assault to broadcast into Western Ukraine Zelensky’s speech at the New York Stock Exchange where he offers Ukrainians as slaves to western corporate interests. I doubt this is well known in areas of Ukronazi control.
Ok what do I know living in New England and teaching in the humanities. But it does look to me that Putin is a very cool head surrounded by smart people and pursuing humane values and has avoided playing into potential traps. Unfortunately this has become the front lines of a war with an empire that is the desperate remains of the Western colonialist powers. It is as much a war for a multipolar mindset as a military conflict. The threat to humanity is as great as the potential of transition to a more peaceful and practical balance of political power.
From the original I get this :
“Dear citizens! At the moment, the territory of the community is completely de-energized due to the fact that the members of the coalition to cleanse Ukraine of bandera’s evil spirits hit critical infrastructure facilities! Please stay calm. Kharkivoblenergo is already working on solving this issue!”, – stated in the message.
A similar message came from the Pervomaisky community in the Kharkiv region.
Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that there was a blow to the infrastructure facility of Kharkiv.
“As a result of the blow, the light was lost in many areas of the city. For the same reason, there is no water in the same areas – the pumps do not work. This is Russia’s retribution for our tricks at the front,” he wrote.
Either way it looks tongue-in-cheek!
The Russian Armed Forces destroyed the warehouse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 45 thousand tons of ammunition in the area of Voznesensk

That was for sure one big fat target – 45,000 tons of ammo!
Looks like RF let them fill it up at leisure – a stitch in time saves 9?
Imagine how many trips those DHL vans and old hooptie mobiles had to make to deliver all this stuff undercover, only for it all to be blown up? :)
On same page a link to vast amounts of HIMAR debris.
Maybe Amazon special prime delivery?
Amazon like to use Moldovan couriers…
I bet they heard that one in Crimea!
Russia taking off the gloves and putting on the brass knuckles. Ukraine’s electric power as well as gas and oil will be cut off for the winter. The SMO is now going to get ugly.
Hopefully this is just the start of these attacks. The Ukies are already saying (according to RT) that much of the electricity is back on in many regions. So they need to be hit again. But more important they need to be hit,and hit hard in West and Central Ukraine. The Ukrainians don’t care as much if the Russian speaking regions in the East and South are without power. But hitting the strongholds of nazism in West Ukraine and the important government centers in Central Ukraine would hurt and hurt bad.
https://www.rt.com/russia/562603-ukraine-blackout-repair-done/
I have said several times before that things have changed in Russia with this SMO. The government has awakened a “sleeping giant” of patriotism among the Russian people. Now whether they wanted that,I don’t know, but they have got that. What that means is failure or defeat is not an option if the government wants to stay in power. From every report I’ve seen coming out of Russia is that Russians are outraged over this leaving those Kharkov areas and are demanding accountability from the government. Today’s Russia is not pre-Feb.24th Russia. And for the sake of their survival I hope the government realizes that. Even all the Russian news and talk shows are full of outrage at the way they are fighting undermanned and with one hand behind their backs. I can only hope that these latest hits in Ukraine show that the gloves are coming off at last.
If this current Russian government fails to achieve military goals it set, the Russians could very well vote it out of power, and bring in someone even more determined that Putin.
From the few Russians I know and talk to, women mostly, they are either liberal anti-Putin or more pro Russia pro Putin. Russia seems like it has plenty of homeland hating liberals like the US. These creatures will erode Russia like they are the US. My advice to the Russians is destroy these people before they destroy Russian culture and society. No country is immune to these liberal globalists. And it has nothing to do with nazis vs communists vs. fascists and all this nonsense 20th century ideology. Its basically technocratic globalism vs. nationalism. I hope Russia destroys Zelensky and the Ukrainian people are being used as western pawns.
The Zio JuSA and it’s Neocons are financing and directing this Ukraine war and continuous escalation. Amazing timing on the contrived 911 inside job anniversary date, we have Russian missile strikes. This satanic cabal that invaded Afghanistan under fake WMDs and bombed, and still occupies Syria, needs to be stopped to save humanity. Go Putin, Go Xi.
