Hopefully Egyptian voters will remember that. Musa poses as an Arab nationalist but behaves as a western pawn. Perhaps not quite as lap dog loyal as Mubarak, but good enough in a pinch.
“Putin likens UN Libya resolution to crusade call” http://en.rian.ru/russia/20110321/163126957.html The guy is either very hypocrite, or Resolution 1973 also caused a division among the Russian elite (just like Resolution 1929 against Iran, and the cancelation of sales of S-300 to that country).
@Carlo: absolutely amazing! My guess is that Putin and Medvedev are playing ‘good cop – bad cop’ but I cannot exclude that he might represent a different constituency than Medvedev.
Still, this is VERY interesting and rather bizarre…
I have no direct info on the EL Baradei incident, but I’m guessing it was thugs hired by Mubarak’s old NDP party. I think they really have it out of Baradei.
BTW, for really good info on what’s going on in Egypt, I highly recommend this blog:
As for Rafah, it is still closed, but at least the noose has been loosened a bit. It’s easier for Palestinians to visit Egypt and more supplies get through. Smuggling is probably going on with much less interference than ever. Egypt has still not resumed gas supplies to Israel, despite several promises to have done so by now. The new PM and FM have good anti-zionist credentials and the latter is an international lawyer who is on record calling the Gaza siege a war crime.
Overall things are moving about as well as one can hope.
@Lysander: thanks for all the info! I have added the Egyptian Chronicles to my feedlist reader. I guess the new power is keeping things low key in Rafah to avoid Zionist hysterics or, worse, military interventions. I can’t say I can blame them too much, but this blockade absolutely must be lifted, so I hope that they can look further down the road and do the right thing.

Yes, this is also the feeling I get. But I sure hope that things will keep on moving :-)

@Lysander: hi dear friend,
I have two questions for you:
a) what happened with El Baradei? Is it true that the MB threw stones at the guy and prevented him from voting?
b) what is happening in Rafah? Is the border with Gaza still locked, or have the new authorities finally opened it?
Kind regards,
The Saker
