UPDATE: now here is a big surprise (at least for me)
May resists calls to join US military action against Syria
I really wonder what is behind this British u-turn (if this turns out to be true)… Could that be a first sign of some cooler heads prevailing? Sounds too good to be true. What do you think?
PM May is desperate as her own chemical weapon attack by “Russia” on British soil is unravelling before her own horrified eyes. She can’t decide if she should go all in with an attack on Syria or duck and cover. She is the classic gutless coward who goes along with the big kid but then gets cold feet when her own scam doesn’t work.
She is on thin ice already and doing the pogo isn’t a smart idea. Mind you she’s not very bright. So does she double down with Donnie or cut bait and run?
Interesting times.
Unlike the imperial US, UK has the precedent of parliamentary approval. Ms. May is short of votes.
Technically, in the USA the highest law in the land, the US Constitution, requires Congressional approval. Article 1, Section 8. But no one pays any attention to that any more so only people who read the toilet paper in DC know this.
The American Founding Fathers were quite aware and adament about the dangers that war, or even a permanent military posed to the liberty they had just fought for and won. Its no accident that they refused to give the President the power to go to war on his own.
“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
“The executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question, whether there is or is not cause for declaring war.”
–both quotes from James Madison (one of the organizers of the Constitutional Convention, and later the 4th President of the United States. But better known Dolly’s husband.)
May repudiated the right of Parliament to make the decision yesterday. It’s a farcical puppet show at the moment.
Anybody else seeing the media blackout in Western Europe? ‘Cause I am, carefully framed news-bites de-prioritizing the lead story to off lead.
Well, when things are down and darkest that is when the sheep are separated from the goats: Alex Jones is doing a 34 hour broadcast to Stop WW IV beginning tomorrow at 8:00AM. He still says he supports Trump . ? whaaaa?
Cognitive dissonance. This is when the forces of darkness ( Jinn) are pushing for a war with Russia because no one who is sane or human can quite believe it. But it is true. That is the bottom line of this situation: war with Russia before they become even stronger.
When the people in the cities of Russia are told to go do shelter drills, then we will know that it is on.
Its fascinating how in my lifetime the ‘anti-war’ movement has gone from left to right.
The Libertarian right was always a part of it. But I came from a more leftist family and was always in the part of the anti-war movement that from the 60’s forward was generally to the left of the Democrats. I’ve followed the anti-war stance to the right.
Its also fascinating how it used to be the party out of power that tended to have more of an anti-war point of view. The party in power takes a more ‘support our President’ type of stand. Yet now, we see the Democrats as a main force for the war and little opposition to the war coming from them. A whopping 3 Senators last I saw. And even the left that is to the left of the Democrats doesn’t seem all that concerned about the war. Its the Republican and more right-wing voices that are opposing the war and warning of the great danger that we seem to face right now.
I keep checking some of the lefty websites. http://www.greanvillepost.com site has been trying to sound the alarm about the danger. But some of the older lefty sites I used to follow are doing little. Democracy Now! was the site that was the voice of the antiwar movement and would do long coverage of the anti-Dubya anti-war protests, but now they are too busy bashing Trump to notice the end of the world. Counterpunch has had a few articles about the danger, but nothing that sounds the alarm bells and says “Act now or else you may die soon.”
Instead, we find its Alex Jones, and Paul Craig Roberts sounding the alarms. Former Rep Ron Paul speaks the truth as is his long habit. And like others have said, I find the Saker and the commentary here to be some of the best around.
I stayed anti-war from Vietnam to today. I guess it always was a question of looking who’s standing beside you against the tide of propaganda and those are the people who are your friends and allies. I made some old friends that way, and I suppose I can make a few new ones in the days or years I have remaining. :)
They have shelters for their people? Wonder what its like to live under a government like that?
In America, they just tell you to put your head between your legs and kiss your hiney good-bye.
US Presidents like to go on TV and make a big announcement as they view this as a chance to ‘look Presidential’ to the nation. This would likely be at around 8pm or 9pm ET.
There might also be an announcement by now that the President is going to address the nation tonight. No sign of that yet, so perhaps the war doesn’t start tonight.
The President did sign into law a bill that makes it much easier for the US Gov to prosecute websites. The old rule was that a website was not responsible for everything that user’s posted on the website. Or, I believe the phrase I saw in an article said “not knowledgeable” about what was posted. In the guise of cracking down on “sex-trafficing”, that rule has been changed. Now the government can go after websites based on what users post on the website.
The usual rule with the US Gov is that as soon as the camel’s nose is inside the tent, the rest of the camel will follow quickly.
But, at least the world doesn’t appear to be ending tonight. To paraphrase Jim Morrison’s writing in the last Cold War, “Tomorrow is uncertain and the end is always near.”
Answering Saker’s question, May’s u-turn may be related to the capture of 11 British officers in Eastern Ghouta, reported April 7, 2018 by Ziad Fadel at SyrianPerspective.com. See also Farsnews “http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=l3970122001526” for more information on the plot to attack Damascus from Eastern Ghouta that was foiled by the Syrian-Russian operations. The recent Israeli strike may have been an attempt to assist foreign commanders attempting to escape the Ghouta pocket. In my searches I thought I read that the captured officers included Americans and Saudis and they were being held at different sites (sorry, I lost the source; perhaps other readers can help). The level of US hysteria in the past week suggests the captured officers were highly prized. Perhaps the tensions can be defused by persuading Assad to negotiate their release.
Follow up from mrr52:
12Apr2018 – See also this vimeo of Russian radio program here provided by another commenter Robert Sneffjella on Sakers blog. Apparently, Chinese analysts believe many Americans (~200?) were killed in Eastern Ghouta.
May may be trying to be a cleverer politician than she actually is. Her perspective in the whole Skripal scam has been more domestic than international. She needed buttressing on Brexit, and for the first time in a long while she is personally more popular than Corbyn. So the game of poker has worked for her so far, which is why she might be tempted to cash in her chips before that buffoon of a Foreign Secretary jams his foot in his mouth permanently.
OPCW seem to confirm in an ambiguous way what the UK was saying about the nerve agent. Except the report does not mention the agent by name, says it was very pure (no traceable impurities), and cannot identify its source.

Probably all May and Johnson need. Johnson has already said “see I told you so”
I really hope Russia, Hesbolah and Iran does trust anything word from this gang off bloody hyenas.
My guess is they are planning a full attack on Russia, Hesbolah and Iran. Iran will be hit heavily…
Russia can use this to finish the job in Ukraine. China can take advantage hitting US forces in their door as well. Reply can also comes in Afeganistan.
Cooler heads did prevail, as evidenced by this AM’s tweet from Trump. Good call Saker. I appreciate your openness to good things, black swans, sometimes unexpectedly showing up.
May is cowering, she is a cowerer. None of her actions demonstrate any conviction or determination. She is playing for Brexit clandestently and is generally incompetent. I don’t think anyone wants to fight this and mostly pushing the US over the edge would be ok for the Brits – fuckers left their crazy a long time anyways, revenge.
Look, bandying around all these stupid “chemical attacks” in Syria is getting old and that tells me either the plotmasters are retarded morons for (playing the same tune for the upteenth time) or they greatly underestimate the common sense brain.
Do they really think people would believe that Syria or Assad is stupid enough to use chemical weapons, when :
a) Syrians are winning on the ground and the chaos starting to unravel.
c) Syria would lose its reputation i.e. losing the moral high-ground.
b) It’ll provoke a US/NATO response, which means opening another war front, which they can ill afford.
Seriously? Wtf.
Nobody is that stupid, not the Syria, not Assad.
…. except the plotmasters who planned this. Complete monkeys.
I hate applying Occam’s Razor to this because they can’t be that incompetent playing a high level game.
So, a different reason(s) must exist for this retarded “chemical attack” stunt.
Has anyone asked the question why there has never been elite special ops measures at the national level taken to personally target the globalist banking and establishment operatives who continue to keep setting traps for nations destruction?
Why, when nations are led into existential or even extinction level threats by globalist/banking operatives (such as the dreadful possibility we find ourselves in now), do the governments of the affected nations seem content to just fight between those that have been pitted against them, and completely ignore the ones responsible for leading them into perilous confrontation or national overthrow in the first place? Do there exist special intelligence and operational assets at the national level that specializes in coming against the root (global elite) on both individual and organizational scope?
Frankly, the global elite appear to be operating with victim nations full permission, so the root continues to get to sprout its evil again and again and again. It is a difficult concept to understand.
Good question, although I’m unsure if it is not simply rhetorical. The answer should be obvious once the proper hierarchy of power is understood. That is, the bankers own the politicians and the intelligence agencies. The politicians are almost too obvious especially after Citizens United.
The CIA was founded as a tool of Wall St from the start by lawyers such as Will Bill Donovan and Allen Dulles. Since that time the agency has made a priority of penetrating other government agencies such as the Pentagon. See this article by L. Fletcher Prouty.
https://ratical.org/ratville/JFK/CIACtrlF.html
To quote Prouty:
. . . Control of a good share of what the Pentagon is doing is more important to the CIA than control over the government of Jordan or Syria. . . .
Referring to long time CIA office Frank Hand Prouty writes:
It is not the President who instructs the CIA concerning what it will do. And in many cases it is not even the Director of Central Intelligence who instructs the CIA. The CIA is a great, monstrous machine with tremendous and terrible power. It can be set in motion from the outside like a programmer setting a computer in operation, and then it covers up what it is doing when men like Frank Hand — the real movers — put grease on the correct gears. And in a majority of cases, the power behind it all is big business, big banks, big law firms and big money. The agency exists to be used by them.
Great history by gosh, those were the days .OSS carryovers Dulles and its chief Donovan were the perfect schmucks to kick off the new CIA. But it seemed like a completely different animal in those days. Everything CIA touched in Syria today failed. I can’t think of anything they did that resulted in their intended payoff. I don’t know, maybe someone else does. Good at stirring up mischief at best, but horrible on following through to the objective.
trump testing his missiles againts russian airdefense and when the test is succesful threshold for nato attack on russia lowered.
No testing by Trump as to whether the ship can withstand the counterattack once “tested” missiles launch? It does rather sound like a way for Trump to defer attack while saving face, but in any case any manner of deferral is welcome at this point, perhaps while sane dialogue can get the upper hand.
They’re backing down.
It’s starting. 21h48 (NA) EST
It looks like they’ve done the minimum and still be able to say that “we have big, mean balls”, but totally transparent lie, upon lie.
Claim to have gone after facilities, likely gone after lack of evidence of any usage of chemicals.
Prediction: they will claim that the Syrians have “obstructed” the investigation, and are thus, defacto guilty.
This looks like the progression that they will follow.
They are claiming “protection” of vital U.S. interests (obviously strange since they have no legal basis to be in Syria, and in fact are illegally there).
But the good news is, very limited, and despite what they are saying, it looks like they spent quite a bit on making sure to avoid Russian nationals.
Yet, more evidence of a rogue state (USA), murdering indiscriminately, even more damning, possibly ‘managed by manipulating the insecurities of The Dupe, and the complicit, illegitimately mainstream media propaganda agencies.
The Brits and Macronians have fully arrived at pathetic toady status.
Sad.
It is very ill in the empire.
I made my judgement on the basis of vassal/master.
I think May (and Johnson, too) are becoming ABFALL. AND MAYBE FRAU MERKEL.
